As I mentioned before, I’ve been working on some art for the winter holidays for a while now. What exactly was I doing that made me set aside your wonderful storyboard? Well, I was secretly working on an illustration as a gift for you! haha (^▽^)

Do you remember when I said I wanted to use your drawing as my iPad wallpaper? At the time, you said you’d use one of my drawings as your wallpaper, but I held off because I wanted to create a “proper” picture for it. And now, I’ve finally completed that “proper picture”!

To prove that this illustration was designed with an iPad wallpaper in mind, here’s a photo of how it looks on my own iPad:

I’ll email you a version of the image without the watermark and the “Happy Holidays” text later, so you can use it as a wallpaper. I am going to make the wallpaper image available only to you, but later I will post separate images of Marisa and Alice, Nagito, Hajime, and Chiaki without watermark, so please forgive me for that.

I had always thought that if I were to create a picture for your wallpaper, it would have to feature Marisa and Alice. But for the longest time, I couldn’t settle on a specific composition. However, while we were talking about the Touhou/Danganronpa crossover story, the idea for this composition came to mind. I realized it would be perfect for the winter holidays, so I paused everything else I was working on and prioritized this project.

I used to hesitate to draw crossovers between completely different works, but after our conversations, I started to feel more comfortable experimenting with new ideas. I can say with confidence that I never would have come up with this composition if I hadn’t connected with you. It was such a joy to paint this piece filled with all my favorite characters! Interacting with you has brought such a significant change to my creative process—it truly feels like a turning point in my life.

Thank you so much for always inspiring me! I hope you’ll enjoy this piece and maybe even use it as your iPad wallpaper. Wishing you a wonderful holiday season and a very Happy New Year! 🌟 P.S. My First "Viral" Post

Like, 20 people told me to submit my Brady Bunch GIFset to @world-heritage-posts and hundreds more tagged it #worldheritagepost.

So I was like, "OKAY OKAY, I'll submit it!"

And they never posted it.

Which is completely fine!

I am definitely *NOT* going to do the "DON'T YOU KNOW WHO I AM???" thing.

I only do cool and funny "Don't you know who I am?" interactions like Tony Hawk.

But when I submitted the post it reminded me of an even earlier time on Tumblr when there were only a few people who could make a post go viral.

The main one was called @thedailywhat. If something got posted there, it could get HUNDREDS of notes.

Oh, that's another funny thing. Several people commented "Why does this only have 20K notes!!???"

There are currently 135 million active users on Tumblr and the site got roughly 2.4 billion visits in 2023.

In all of 2010 the entire site got 50 million visitors. Not users. Just people who went to a Tumblr address during that entire year.

In any case, if you thought you created something cool and you wanted more than 10 people to see it, you had to submit your cool thing to The Daily What. It was the first Tumblr to reach 100,000 followers which was more than the actual founder of Tumblr had at the time.

It was run by a single person but he was very private and never revealed his name.

His emails were very cryptic.

I'm pretty sure he sold the site and went to live on a beach or something. But whoever bought it did not understand how to run the blog and the final post was in 2013.

I'm not surprised the new owner crashed and burned. Johnny Internets was irreplaceable. He really understood what would connect with people. Nearly everything he posted would gain decent popularity. I'm not sure people realize how much of a skill curating content can be and how hard it is to post popular things with consistency.

He would reject a lot of content outright and was very picky about what went on his Tumblr. But when he actually posted something you made, it was almost guaranteed to go viral.

Well, viral relative to the time period.

I suspect I submitted nearly a hundred things before he finally agreed to reblog me. And I still remember the first thing I submitted that he liked.

I posted this in 2010. How many notes do you think it got?

Probably a million, right?

No less than 100K.

I mean, look at how cute that panda is!

Back then, that was enough.

But that was just me putting words on something. My ultimate goal was to get him to post one of my original photoshops.

And do you see how he gave proper attribution? That meant a lot during a time when other curators were cropping my watermarks and claiming things as their own.

A real mensch, this Mysterious Stranger was.

These two posts got me enough traction to grow my following and before I knew it, I was The Daily What for other people. I was able to help other artists and content creators get traction and grow their following.

It was a beautiful Tumblr version of paying it forward. Only not as awkward as those weirdos who do it in drive-thru lines.

Some OC news in case any of you care.

There's actually quite a bit of future updates I feel like sharing with you when it comes to my characters, my art, etc. So, I would like to talk about it here.

OC News

Firstly, apparently, I've been drawing my Cookiesona, Mallow Cake Cookie's front hair (except the bangs) incorrectly, meaning I haven't been drawing it the way I've been aiming for. (The 'Bobin' on the second slide of this but with a more frosting-like look to it. I suspect the link is not the original work, and if you know where the original art is, please tell me so I can give proper credit.) As a result, I will be fixing her design a bit to make it look more realistic to the Cookie Run style, and have her hair live up to expectations.

On the note of Mallow Cake Cookie, I'm thinking of changing the hair clip as well, specifically the color. This is because of the hair clip contrasting with the simple color palette. Plus, my dumb ass also remembered that the blood and strawberry moons exist. Other than that, though, there's not really gonna be any significant changes on Mallow Cake Cookie, but I'm still forming up her story and personality. I'm looking forward to you all seeing the nature of the Littlest Beast. ^^

Next, a group of OCs I made in 2022 will be getting redesigns, as they will be getting a bigger role in my artworks in the future. I'm still trying to figure out who their leader is, or if they work for themselves. We shall see.

Also, three new Super Mario OCs are in the works. First and second out of the three, the designs that are almost done, are a set of Duplighost twins, Castor and Mimosa. Castor is the happier of the two; a mischievous jester of a Duplighost who loves to perform and play tricks on others. His sister Mimosa on the other hand is on the more negative side, having a sappy face and a soulless disposition; but she finds herself at comfort with her dolls that she always holds. All I need to do left is their colors, and I'll be ready to show them off. (They've been in the works since JULY, and they NEED to be finished.) The third of the OCs is pretty simple. A Queen Peepa. No more needs to be said. I love Peepas, and I need to remember they exist. lol

Back to Cookie Run, I will be making a protege for Mallow Cake Cookie, named Orchid Moth Cookie. I have a lot of things in mind for them, and I'd like you to help me with some. Again, I still need to figure out a couple of things with Mallow Cake, before I work on Orchid Moth. But I will tell you this; they are very close and are willing to go all out for each other. And yeah, Mallow Cake's pretty much Red Velvet's morality level, but I'll get to that in the future.

I'm saving probably the most controversial for next to last, as I feel that it's more than necessary for me to do it. My Pokesona, Kitty will be getting yet ANOTHER redesign. Not even an "I'll think about it" anymore. This is confirmed. Not even the last redesign, Kitty's design didn't feel like me. I went from basic to overly complicated (because of the stupid mood bow) in seconds, and I'm nowhere near happy about it. Hell, the design to me now might scream Clefairy or Clefable or whatever, and I've been having anxiety about that. I will be making Kitty feel more like things I like, while also making her feel truly like a Gengar. To make things fairer, Callie, Bunny, and Pretty will be getting redesigns as well. On top of that, I will be making a new and improved watermark for my digital pieces. A less complex watermark than the original for sure.

And finally (for the OC part), I will be making myself a truesona because yes. I'm having quite a bit of fun making her design, and I'm very excited for you to meet her! ^^

Art

As many of you know, I have been making less art. Also, I plan to be making more changes of it, as to contradict the pressure I put onto myself on DA.

I plan to be drawing more for myself, prepare designs, practice, and whatnot. Hell, I might even be self-indulgent and feed my stupid, fucking, overcomplicated macrophilia. (SFW as always of course; plus, G/t's a comfort thing for me, and anyone who actively shames this will be mercilessly blocked.)

So, to sum this shit up, art's going to be more of a hobby for me on social media. I will still be trying to involve art of some fashion in my future career though, as it is something I enjoy doing.

Two New Sites!

As a means to store my characters at least, I have made an ArtFight account (which I plan to start filling up this Spring) and an UnVale account. I might have to temporarily reactivate my account so I can get most of my OCs settled there. (I say most because there's some that aren't the greatest.)

Cosmic Archive Label

A while ago I got a Famicom disc, really just as reference for ultimately modelling one, but then I noticed that there were two labels on it. I got really curious so I peeled the first one off. They were for two completely different games. I've since found that some Famicom games came with what look like spare stickers, so that may have been what happened here, rather than some factory mishap.

But in any case, I had removed two of the stickers, and they both came off really easily and in one piece, so I thought why not, I'm half way there, and there's so many things to make from scratch for the Pikmin 2 treasures, why take the needlessly hard way for no reason. So I got all the stickers off(I'll keep them, I still have the original label for the Hanafuda cards), then yesterday I started work on the proper labels for Nazo-no-Murasame-jou.

(Should I start watermarking this sort of thing as a reproduction when I post them? I'd assume bootleggers would just scan an actual sticker rather than go to some obscure blog.)

Looking on ebay real discs are about twice what I paid for this random one, so there was some savings, but I just now realised that I never once thought of just buying one. I wanted to make up in some way for the first attempt, which was responsible for all my Pikmin models getting larger and larger.

See, I thought I was so smart using an old floppy disc I had lying around from like 2001. Never did it even occur to me that a real Famicom disc would be a different size. I also just assumed the front and back labels would be identical, for some reason, just swap out the A for a B.

Took a bit to find this, I couldn't locate the final image because there wasn't one, this was made back when my only tools were MS Paint and MS Word, so I did the basic graphics in Paint and used the transparency feature of word to composite it all together. I was quite close to becoming this guy.

But basically the size of Olimar and the Pikmin, thus everything else, were all made to fit this creation, which lead to everything becoming way too big, as you can see with the comparison to my original Hocotate Ship:

Another Treasure completed, and an old wrong righted. A good day's work.

Just dumping some stuff here! I finally made a proper logo/watermark to put on my artwork, and I am VERY excited about that! I redesigned my persona (and thus my rabbit sona), but I don't feel comfortable showing her YET since I used a base to draw her design over.

For now all I can offer is a recolour of one of my profile pictures!

And I got a new drawing tablet for my laptop! I bought one in December, but I was very peeved by all the wires I had to plug in, so I sent it back and got one that supports usb-c to usb-c. The resolution is so much better too! Very happy with this one. (Photos ft. WIP of my rabbit sona)

Not related to Hazbin, but I finally made that Loona video. I am sorry about the watermark, if I had known the app I was using took up 1/3 of the screen I would not have used it. But I had edited it fully and was to lazy to use a different app

Also sorry for the scuffed audio, never really projected my voice out and I don't have a proper mike.

If you have any recommendations for improving videos in the future that would be great! (I am never using whatever app I used to make videos again)

i'm glad i did the watermarks on the pics at the bottom there, it makes it kind of look uncomfortable, or like seedy i suppose, which helps a lot w/ what the cover is aiming for.

i think basically it's as good as i could have gotten it, the cover. i do like it, i feel like maybe i could do it better, if i planned it out more, maybe it looks like a mess to anyone else, it's kind of one intentionally but i mean, maybe in a bad way it's one too.

also, on bandcamp i wrote a big-ish thing about the album as it was made, here it is:

likely in progress since october of 2022, certainly in progress since november of 2022, finally complete in july 2024. these are songs about nothing especially. this album has seen: two apartments, one move, two jobs, a cockroach infestation, a mass shooting at the neighboring school of our last apartment, my girlfriend surviving the shooting because she was in a different building and he wanted to kill teachers because he did not get a job, the most traveling i've done in my life, myriad illnesses, various canker sores, working out through being sick, not recovering sooner because i had to work out because it would upset me to not complete the ritual as i normally do, the worst sore throat of my life, an ear infection, the starting of a public diary, the maintenance of a public diary, ants on the windowsill, ants in the flour, long standing friendships growing longer, shedding of irritability, regrowth of the irritability, self disgust of varying levels and varying causes, scrubbing the floor naked, bruising my knees at the melt banana show and bruising my knees doing kneeling squats and bruising my knees doing other things, the uneasy orbit of a sleep schedule (an asteroid almost, in capture, then, crashing), several remasterings, 2 computers, an apartment that's a single room, an apartment of multiple rooms cheaply constructed, inflation, grocery store packages changing graphic design, rotten fruit, eaten fruit, my girlfriend's mother loving then hating then loving us, rabbits in grass, rabbits on concrete, bird corpses and living birds and horses in a field for the rodeo and the bulls kept across from them moaning of a captivity under moonlight, the construction and completion of the las vegas sphere (orb of prosperity), numerous nightmares about being murdered, denver colorado, kyoto, tokyo, takeshita-dori street, all the green, a place where sad old gay men convened and sang karaoke remembering their youth in old mecha anime theme songs, a fashion magazine photographer speaking in english to me (stumbling in a beautiful way) "i hope to see you again one day", arizona and the asu campus, a strange fall fair where a woman told me to hold two pumpkins to my chest so it'd be like i had breasts (she seemed supportive), the strange trump-loving foodtruck that served elote that my gf liked, my most recent live performance with thomas since 2018, my girlfriend learning korean, completion of multiple books, falling in love with foucault as i did when i first read him in college, meeting people for the first time, meeting some for the second, sleeping on a bed in chicago, loving chicago, people staring at me in public, children staring at me, wondering if children hate me because at my root there is something wrong with me and everyone except me can tell, being published in various online journals, the coming first publication of my work in print, in a journal people hold in their hands of flesh, nothing special, everything special, stretches of relative silence, all the meaningless stuff, all the stuff i don't want to tell you because i like it too much. i already gave you too much, most likely. you will not have a sense of any of this as you listen to the record. i put it here, i don't know why. this album is 32 songs, 47-ish minutes long. you can click a button on a web site to listen to it, and you will hear it.

georges bataille - wrote the sentence which i lifted for the album title (letter to kojeve where he begins talking about unemployed negativity) thomas hardy - wrote tess of the d'urbervilles which i quote on the final song. neighbors - let me scream and didn't ever complain or call the police. hospital terrorizer - i screamed and i wrote the songs and i made the cover and stuff.

but since i am on my blog i guess i can get into more detail about the record, and i also feel like anyone who reads this / has been reading this, you have actually seen what it's been like, the hostility of the little bit of writing i did for the album isn't really pointed back here, it's not necessarily a pose it's just like, i dunno, as a thing to make, there's so much time and effort, and most of that's invisible, that's not being said in a self pitying way, it's more about how that's the case for so much music, which makes it interesting, i think.

anyway, there's one song here called 'i didn't think before i started a diary' which isn't really about this diary, i wrote that song prior to even starting this, it's about something weird you can see w/ people who do have diaries on the internet, where some people like, years after they're done being updated, things like that, or even just posts / miniature diaristic stuff, of archiving all that, when really this is more about the practice/act than an archive to reach into history with. it was also inspired by a piece of poetry by a friend though i don't know if i could even find it. it's written from the perspective of someone wanting to archive a person, and i kept thinking about that from the other side. that's really the only song i have so much to say on i think, because the others are either a little more personal or a little more obvious, there's lots of political things, the song hell baby works off of a reference to hideshi hino's hell baby, the manga where a deformed baby is thrown into a dump and she is revived by flaming ghosts and wanders back to her family and then is shunned once again. it's really tragic.

anyway i know i said i'd have more pictures from yesterday to post but i've been busy all day with trying to get everything like ready enough, some songs feel a little odd still but that just seems like how they are, it's only 2 that feel a little odd and idk, if i really hate them eventually i will just remaster them and release them together or something but they sound good to me, i think i'm caught off guard by them because there's a newness about them, because i worked on one up to the last bit here, and another was the product of an error related to a crash where the .wav came out normal but the mp3 came out strange sounding i think, so i had to go back and re export. either way both sound good/cool just unexpected to me, and i am someone who had expectations that were precise about those songs, specific things about what frequencies were blasting when and how stuff sat, and then that's just new now.

tomorrow i have to make like... 3 posts inside the internet world, to make people maybe look at my album, and then it will be entirely/totally out of my hands, it will truly be over then, that's like the advertising period i get, lol, one day.

Change of Plans

I've decided that I'm just gonna post newer stuff on my page, after confiding in my friends about how I've been feeling, one of them suggested to just stop posting my old works and just start posting my newer stuff, so I've decided to just post old stuff just until I get a proper watermark made! So I'm a lil excited about that ;) obviously, I won't display the final design. Instead, you'll start seeing my watermark on my work. I don't want my watermark to appear on posts that aren't mine! (I won't display the final design to prevent unauthorized/misuse of it.)

A snippet I'm working on

A tapping sound was coming from the window. 

Remus opened his eyes to the graying plaster above him. A watermark that spread from the corner strangely resembled a rabbit. Dust motes danced in the light beams that streamed in through the slats in the window shutters. He breathed in the new day and rubbed the sleep from his eyes. He allowed himself a lie in, having arrived in the quiet stillness between night and morning, long after the drunks had stumbled off to bed, still before the bakers rose to prepare their dough. It must be at least 10 AM by now as the room was fully illuminated.

Remus pushed himself up onto his forearms to unlatch the shutters and allow entry to the tawny owl waiting outside. He unfurled the bit of parchment untied took from her leg. 

This evening, 6PM. Welcome back. - APWBD

He crumpled the note in his fist. The owl stares at him unblinking, expectant. 

“I’ve got nothing for you, I’m sorry,” he confessed. She nipped at his fingers and gave him an irritated hoot. 

“I said I was sorry! I’m hungry too.” 

She ruffled her feathers in a noticeably irritated manner and took flight from the window sill.

Remus took in the room around him for the first time, having slipped into sleep like a stone through water the night prior. It was cozy, an oil painting of a stone castle hung above the fireplace and a claret-colored armchair rested in the corner. He could hear muted conversations and the din of the dining area coming from the floor below. The smell of bacon permeated the air and his stomach audibly grumbled. Breakfast is still on then, thank god. 

Remus got out of bed and padded over to the bathroom. He almost regretted leaving the warmth of his cocoon of quilts, the creep of autumn felt in the floorboards and the porcelain of the sink. He splashed water on his face, running damp fingers through loose curls, and looked at himself in the mirror. Living as a vagabond had not been without cost, and it was apparent he had paid the price with his body. He hadn’t had a proper meal in weeks, or what felt closer to an eternity. It was evident in the hollows of his cheeks and the way his clothes hung loose on his already spindly frame. His hair badly needed a cut, but he took the time to quickly run a razor over the stubble on his face. It’ll have to do for now.

He’d spent the last 8 weeks with a werewolf pack in the wilderness of Glen Affric. Some packs were aligned with Voldemort but most were unaffiliated. Many were living as nomads, rotating forests for full moons to avoid both preying on wizards and falling prey themselves.

Remus’s mission had been as successful as any of the others. And after two years, he was unable to provide the packs with a good faith argument as to why fighting with the Order would benefit them. Voldemort was offering werewolves power, protection, a seat at the table, none of which had come to fruition. Remus’s assurances, and truthfully what they really needed – the chance at a magical education, employment, housing – were just as hollow. And so he spent weeks getting to know them, transforming with them, living by their side at Dumbledore’s order, a mission Remus realized he’d been marked for the day he got his Hogwarts letter. And his progress had been near minimal. 

Not that the rest of the Order was making much more progress than he, quite the opposite. They were being picked off in quick succession. Caradoc Dearborn went missing without a trace a few weeks previous. Without any attempts from him to make contact or leads for the Order to follow, they had all assumed the worst. Death Eaters had made Edgar Bones and his wife watch as they tortured and murdered their children before finally killing them as well. And Marlene and her family, well. Remus had locked himself in his room for days after the news of the McKinnons. He treated run-ins he had with other Order members as if they may be their last, because on many occasions, especially recently, they had been.

Remus pulled a wool jumper over his t-shirt and laced up his boots. After closing the door to his room and locking it behind him, he glanced in either direction, ensuring he was alone. 

Locus clausum. Protego totalum. Intrusor certiorem. He shuddered to think of returning to the room in any way but the way he was leaving it, unoccupied. Remus walked down the creaking wooden steps to the first floor where breakfast was being served. The radio voice of Freddie Mercury echoed from a room down the hall, bellowing why can’t we give ourselves one more chance?
