these have never been posted before because i thought they sucked, and also just because i didn't feel like doing it. several sophonts existences in the solar system are friend-only information atm lol

the first version has been posted on their first post, as much as i still like the mecha design by itself (despite the fucked up leg placement) , i think it should only have a single pilot, and i also don't think there was much thought put behind how people sit in there etc.. So it looks a bit awkward overall. their first design was just a quick doodle i need to draw as fast as i can before i forget the idea, so it's not good LOL. its wonky, very wonky.

this one is from march 2023, there isn't much change between the two but i still think they're interesting to have in the row. the clothes look awkward, i don't think i thought about how they'd be put on by the pilots, the layering, and so on. what used to be manipulator limbs look award too

this is when i was trying to make them more fun. i shortened them, made them longer and blabla.. but in the end, they just looked like corgis/ dogs to me and i wasn't satisfied with that. Not that i think sophonts can't look like x earth animal, this is just me wanting to feel satisfied with my own work and not wanting to make dog 2. i don't know the exact date of this drawing, but im assuming its in late 2023

in may 2024, the current design of pilots was made. funnily enough, it just came to me one day. My brain flashed an image and i tried to draw it as fast as i could. compared to the top drawing the limbs for carrying their youngs weren't finalized.

the crest changing between every drawing / versions doesn't matter. because their crest changes color constantly to communicate and speak with each others. like a sort of cuttlefish skin effect, i guess pilots can still be fully white. it's just their coat for when temperatures drops. But since their moon is going through an ice age their body keeps is disoriented constantly. Workers who stay outside all year will have a winter coat constantly. But people who work / stay inside all the time are in heated environment, thus their winter coat never start up. and so on with that

their texture would be horrible, the end bits of their fur is harden, its so thick and packed and feel like velvet. even the non winter coat still feel like velvet

Despite the current design having longer legs, they're still small guys because that's more fun. Pilots are 100 cm (3ft) tall. you can pick them up (they might be sized wrong on the doodle whatever)

homeowner who's the type to stick stickers and doodle on their furniture, embroider on their sofa/clothes/curtains, diy their windows and lights, all that crafty stuff, how will the dateables feel about their creative human?

homeowner going out and coming back with little gifts! pretty chiq night lights for lux, new ceramic bowls for daisuke, door stoppers for dorian so he wouldnt slam or scuff, basically getting them those little home gadgets

homeowner basing their wardrobe/outfits on the dateables

foreign homeowner having family/friends over and the dateables watching them speaking their native language, eating their countrys food, playing games etc.

thats sort of it from the top of my head.. so idk ! maybe ! who knows !

I love sam. hes just nice (potentially a pushover) and a dork. HES JUST A GUY!!!! i love that the game gives him time to show you how he’s processing his/your actions?

Really funny to me that him being unemployed is part of the reason he’s the protagonist. Can’t become a monster if you don’t have to go outside.

Am curious why he isn't working at the grocery store (if he did work there). did he leave or get fired?

OW losing an arm has GOTTA HURT. i cast pain upon this man.

mY SWEET BABY BOYYYY i want to see him grow up big and strong (not too big and strong considering the everything but you get the idea).

looks like he has some form of "vision" post-mutation?? he doesnt seem to have any issue playing video games so i opt that he can “see”, just not very well. it’s short range and fuzzy. might be more of a feeling of his surroundings than real vision? whatever it is, it's good enough to play super jump lad.

I also HC that he’d developed shortsightedness when he had eyes, just that nobody had noticed yet that he’s squinting at things more than he should…

I think his biting/devouring is involuntary when he’s agitated. thankfully it hasn’t come to him biting any friends so far!

get this boy some popsicle sticks to gnaw on. not even for tooth reasons. eight year olds just love chewing on popsicle sticks. (preferably after popsicle has been consumed)

Apart from not fully understanding everything going on due to his age, he seems a bit dazed from the mutation and probably has brain fog for a few days after, which is Definitely not helping sam with the Oh My God this kid doesnt know his parents are dead. OH GOD I KILLED THIS KID'S PARENTS AND I HAVE STOLEN HIM AWAY

FIRST OF ALL i LOVE how his design kind of references how old cameras had to be covered with fabric so the photo wouldn't fail.

i think he wore glasses when he was human! …the lenses got absorbed into his face. the camera he was holding did too. I think he didn’t own as many cameras as he ended up with. That big one he has seems specific enough that maybe that was the one he was using to snap a sky pic??? idk if he touched any other cameras after that but THAT one has gotta be the one he was holding.

idk if he finds spiders GROSS but he is definitely the kind of person to be afraid to be in the same room as one.

I think most of his legs are telescopic to some degree! he just doesnt see the need to make himself any taller than he already is, except for photography reasons.

reiterating from one of my doodle posts, i like to think his eye lenses shed over time. if you took off the lens early on an eye (via injury) it would have weak vision. built-in glasses!

I hope the soul photo thing is like a special attack thing for him that he has to set up intentionally? it feels mean to have all the photos he takes with his built in cameras be the soul-stealing kind. he does take photos by accident/involuntarily a lot but the one he takes after the kiss with sam is totally on purpose and he absolutely still has that one. concerning.

idk if he gets out of his apartment much during the Visit, but it could be that HE hasnt seen any mutations worse than his/doesnt know that sam has totally seen worse. Hence why he's trying to hide so hard from Sam (not to mention the guy is crushing HARD, he's not gonna wanna be vulnerable in front of him).

....also hideous monster or not hes naked under there. i dont blame him for wanting to stay cloaked

oh god theyre art students. that explains SO much.

very funny to me that xaria heard a voice in her head compelling her to check out the window and decided she’s gonna be contrarian about it.

I imagine a lot of Monty’s projects are setting something on fire. shows up to class with a pile of plastic baby heads. sets them ablaze. the most important part of being an art student is the time honored tradition of bullshitting some sort of meaning that’s gonna satisfy the lecturer.

Probably decent at life drawings but he keeps burning his works. (not to mention realism doesnt appear to be his kind of style)

Xaria feels like she’d stick to slightly more traditional mediums (painting, sculpture)? a lot of surrealism, mixed media, themes of nonconformity and violence. has totally used blood in a project before. More intentional about the meaning of her art- the intention being that she wants to make people uncomfortable.

i think it’d be hilarious if they’d been binging horror movies the night before. funniest options are The Thing and Tetsuo the iron man.

Since Sam mutates into something regardless of what you do up on the roof, i’m guessing the same goes for these two if you bring them up there. cool/nasty idea for their mutation is they fuse into one being... not necessarily an idea im running with atm but fun to think abt anyway

I think she’s in some sort of schrödinger’s cat situation - dead and alive until observed. or maybe like a quark (particle that cannot be observed but you can see the effects of it).

it’s unclear if someone ever was next door to you, but if I recall the astronomers tell you there’s no way she’s there? (cant recall if its bc she was “dead” by then or if its the totally wrong floor.)

the game says it was a mystery what happened to sybil, but a potential course of events could be your Real Neighbour just got sucked outta their window same as what happens to you if you look and sybil THINKS shes next door to you.

I’m pretty sure she’s in all of the walls? some of her text implies that, even tho she doesnt seem to be really aware of it.

far as she knows, she's in her apartment. what's her apartment like? well, it's an apartment. it's got walls. she can see out the peephole. there's.... furniture. What else do you want?

(man. between her, the pipe lady, the water pump guy, and the boiler room the walls are CROWDED. no wonder the roaches decide to move to your place.)

The Visitor

what do i even say about it? it is, in the most direct meaning of the word, awesome. it’s unfathomably immense. it's beautiful. it's horrifying. I love that in a single eye out of infinite eyes, it sees a miniscule creature who just wants to live. Sam becomes a smaller reflection of the Visitor, and the visitor gains a fraction of what makes sam human…

I wonder, did the visitor even “exist” until witnessed? same as sybil, maybe it could have some quantum thing going on. i can’t speculate on this any more than the astronomers have.

Sam (ritual-denial)

while it’s the nicest ending possible, i still feel kinda bad for sam :( he can never be truly alone anymore, but at the same time isn’t becoming a giant god-creature kind of isolating? sure, he must grow used to it over time but MAN. WHAT AN ADJUSTMENT.

regardless, it’s nice that he decides to use his new form to take care of the world, and sounds like he probably gets some extra brain capacity to be able to do all the stuff he does. (probably a few extra mini-brains to control the different arm nodes)

I hope he gets to take time for himself too, sometimes. probably sleeps like a dolphin (switch off half the brain for a power nap)

I don't think he can do verbal communication (at least, it's gonna take him a WHILE to figure out how to talk with his feelers) but at least there's keyboards.

also its funny how he gains like a gajillion arms after potentially losing one of two.

also i love the cafe patrons and the mutants at the camp. theyre all so fun. AND MANUEL FUNKY LITTLE DUDE WITH THE JAMS.

I’ve seen two episodes of Ahsoka, I really need to finish it 😭 I’m just finding it a bit hard to to sit through atm. I’ve seen clips and stuff though so I have a pretty good idea of what happens!

I have seen bits of Eman as Ezra (he’s absolutely perfect for the role bwt! Love how he plays him!) and I can’t believe he’s so tall! Ezra was always a little shorter in my head (maybe like, 5,7 or something idk, however tall Hera is)

Cause I haven’t finished Ahsoka, whenever I’m drawing older Ezra I usually picture the sorta fanon interpretation I made up after watching rebels. I’m a die hard lover of Ezra joining the CDF temporarily. Thrawn and Ezra in Wild Space adventures the beloved. Maybe I’ll do a proper design for him one day.

ethubs roadtrip au is a story that exists mainly in my head atm !! i know i make it look silly with the doodles but it’s supposed to have a healthy mix of silliness as well as serious-ish stuff :’) in short, the plot follows bdubs n etho running from the same Thing From Their Past while. not realizing that the other is doing the exact same thing LOL. shenanigans as well as heartbreak ensue!

a more detailed summary of the hypothetical story, if anyone’s down for that, is like. bdubs n etho have been living together in etho’s apartment since bdubs Quite Literally crashed there a few months ago. modern day-ish setting, and ethubs r old friends from the same town/whatevs ✌️ one day the guys they’ve been running from show up! and ethubs simultaneously Flip The Freak Out while Trying Not to Look Like They Are Flipping The Freak Out. etho suggests a spur-of-the-moment road trip and bdubs goes Oh Haha Etho You’re So Smart And Cool And Have The Best Ideas so they pack up their things and book it. after that it’s lots of open road. nonsensical conversations after hours on the highway to keep each other sane. hushed phone calls at rest stops they try not to let the other hear. getting into hotels past midnight and sharing a bed in the few hours between then and morning ETC ETC ETC you see what i mean by ‘healthy mix of silliness and attempted real character studies’ pff. anyways i'm not getting into it all here because this post is already too long, but yeah it’s a whole! story!

i’m not sure if i’ll do anything with it (longform fic-wise, i mean) because i’m worried that the characterization is a liiittle self-indulgent lol. but it’s so cool to hear that other people r interested in the idea! so maybe i might?

Your new comic prompted me to start replaying the tutorial of totk and sndisjsjsksns like I thought it was incredible when I first saw it, but now refreshing with game knowledge makes it so much better.

Link freshly waking up in a mysterious ruin again: torn between feeling like 'not this again', 'at least I have memories this time' and ' Zelda! Is Zelda ok?! What happened to Zelda!' (This was a lot more peaceful when I couldn't remember why I was fighting, and I know I need to pace myself because I'm injured but: ZELDA)

Finding people on the island and one is being really weird about the master sword. Sndjdksksksjsksksbsi, If only he had some bananas to offer, then everyone could be confused.

I cant wait to see how this plays out, from getting the purah pad, to Raru, to the shrines and the battery, and just seeing how multiple people working together in the tutorial changes things.

little explanation rq: the idea i had in mind for the world as a whole, the creation splits the psyche into a couple of dudes (shoutout to my BrainGuys) who are now trying to "end the dream" so to speak. basically, im locked away in the container and the #Girls must save me..... they will be shown later

which leads into Lockinsky! He's a lock-box that I keep some personal items in. I thought the idea of a power-hungry dude who Literally wants to fill the void within was a cool lil idea.

Pockitt is, if you could believe it, a pocket knife i've had since i was a little amoeba. Highly skilled assassin, she shows up occasionally just to be a dickhead. No allegiance to anyone, she's just in it for the love of the game. and money.

Creeptake is probably my favorite of the one's I've designed so far. When Lockinsky took over he locked a lot of things away; any perceived threat to his rule was swept under the rug. Art was a big one, and an entire gallery (my unsorted art folder on my laptop) of what he calls "freak pictures" was abandoned...

Normally, you wouldn't even be able to get here in normal game play... unless, you find the curator. Since "Man" does not exist in this reality, she takes his place to offer a progression item. Completely optional.

Back to Creeptake. They're a living painting who simply is not content to be forgotten. They want to be seen, to entertain... Their "fight" is more of a chase sequence than anything. Very IB and Ao Oni inspired in that regard. Little fight segment at the end that, in essence, is a prolonged staring contest.

this won't be a very fleshed out au!!!! the only ideas i have are just for whatever would be fun to draw! and what i wanna draw are designs and fusions, so thats what im focusing on!!

i have a few little ideas for backstory stuff for each merc, but its all very disconnected, so heres some bullet points

Scout is a Blue Aventurine. He was meant to come out all big and strong like his brothers(? steven universe equivalent of siblings, at least. like the famethyst) but came out all scout-like. In this AU he's still the runt of his group

Miss Pauling is a diamond, violet diamond, but is treated more like a pearl by bigger diamonds like admin and saxton.

She is told to disguise herself as a kunzite gemstone and go to earth to keep an eye on this au's version of the crystal gems: heavy and some of the other mercs or something. Scout goes with her also

There's no one to one gem to merc equivalent BUT: Pauling and Scout are Rose/Pink and Pearl. Heavy is like Rose 'cause he's the leader. Pauling is also like Peridot, sort of apprehensive about earth.

I'm way to indecisive to choose one merc to be human or half-human, so it'll probably just depend on whatever i wanna draw

big laurance alternates au post!!

hi welcome to my laurance alternates au post i'm just gonna drop everything on y'all tehee:)) i will share it with somewhat of a narrative but it's not going to be fully fleshed out fic or art atm i apologize... i hope you can enjoy it even if it's unpolished!! with alternates ending tmrw i just really wanted to yap about him before it's over!!! alternates spoilers ahead btw, go watch if you haven't... now say hi to my laurance !!

i have a couple other doodles and writing snippets i will share when relevant in the post!

the au picks up just after the events of episode 4. the group is making their way through the street when aphmau's walkie-talkie starts popping static. they all look around frantically, but instead of any alternates, they notice someone poking out from the rubble... and then notice it's laurance! (or looks like him...)

That was when Aphmau spotted a familiar face in the rubble. She couldn't believe it. Covered in debris, he was... "Laurance?" Aphmau gasped softly. Then it tore out of her - "LAURANCE!" "Aphmau, careful!" Aphmau ignored Travis, rushing to the rubble. "He might still be alive! We have to help him!" "He might be an Alternate!"

aphmau immediately starts digging him out - she can't lose anyone else, not now. travis and katelyn are hesitant, but eventually katelyn starts helping too (extremely ineffectively; she's pretty weak by this point. this is what convinced travis to start digging laurance out, too.)

"Please be alive, please be alive, please, please, please," Aphmau pleaded, voice thick with unshed tears so she could focus her energy on digging Laurance out from the rubble. "Please be Laurance," Travis groaned in response. Aphmau started with a "Travis!..." but ended with a "...Please, be Laurance..."

the first thing laurance sees when his eyes flutter open is aphmau's face - and the first thing he realizes is that he has absolutely no idea where he is. the first thing he feels is pain, all over. something is wrong with him, and he can tell it immediately.

before anyone can ask HIM anything, he asks if aphmau's alright, even while bleeding from the head.

the group then asks him the question we have all been asking him for years - "Where have you been, Laurance???"

his answer? anticlimactic. "I... I don't know?"

travis immediately finds that suspicious, and starts grilling him, standing defensively in front of katelyn, but aphmau tells him to stop. aphmau suggests that he must have hit his head, and katelyn mumbles an agreement. travis momentarily shuts it, but he's not happy about it. aphmau also suggests laurance must have seen the tv broadcast and was looking for her. laurance squints, trying to remember anything through the haze, and...

"Aphmau!" Suddenly, he was grabbing her arms, his eyes wild. Aphmau gasped and the entire group tensed. "I was! I was looking for you!" Travis stepped forward quickly. "LET GO OF--!" Laurance quickly loosed his hands. "TRAVIS, WAIT! Laurance..." she said, and Laurance couldn't remember ever seeing her look so anguished. Not that he could remember much of anything. A gritty determination settled on her brows - "How do I know it's really you?" "I..." "Tell me something only Laurance would know!" she demanded, and Laurance was instantly convinced he ought to... but he couldn't remember anything. His face twisted in horror, a deep dread settling in him in a place he couldn't name. "Aphmau, I..." Suddenly, it came to him, warm like an early autumn day. He was young, and Aphmau was younger, and they were at the park... He was jealous, because he saw her with Garroth... Unable to stop himself from smiling lopsidedly at the memory, he told her, "In high school, I asked you to go in a photo booth with me, and I kissed you on the third flash." "Laurance!" Aphmau cheered, launching herself into hugging him. He tried not to wince too much.

aphmau then checks him for injuries (he winced), asking him where it hurts (his answer is 'everywhere'). katelyn snarks, "Your head's bleeding, let's start with that." she's also leaning on travis and she looks like shit. laurance is immediately concerned, but when he tries to ask her if she's okay, she just reminds him that he's the one bleeding.

travis steps forward and patches up laurance, katelyn lends him a hairtie, and they get moving!

laurance tries to play it cool, but he knows something is wrong with him. things come back to him slowly - when the first emergency broadcast came on, he was with cadenza, babysitting caleb... it interrupted his cartoons, and scared him... then... something in the basement...? how did he get in the street? what happened to cadenza and caleb???

unfortunately with that we've finished one of the most developed segments... but more DOES happen after that!!! if people are interested i will post more!!! points of interest: where are cadenza (there's a very cool answer to this imo!!) and caleb??? wtf happened in the basement??? and laurance's #1 question ofc:
