One of my favorite parts about the writing of Howl's Moving Castle is how easy it is to write off all the things from our world at first as him just being a weird wizard™ (also thanks to bestie @jutenium for spotting this I wouldn't put it like that without you!!/pos). Sure, Sophie uses weird descriptions, but readers have every reason to believe them because of the way Howl is presented as a character. When Sophie says he wrote with a quill that doesn't need an ink, you wouldn't think it was actually a ballpoint pen, you would think Howl had just enchanted his quill so that it wouldn't need ink! When she adds that she can't make out a single word, you think he has matchingly terrible handwriting, but in fact Sophie has simply never seen a pen writing. When she sees the mysterious labels on his books, you think he's keeping a lot of obscure magical literature, but it's really just an encyclopedia and a guide like "Top 10 Rugby Tips." When Sophie notices the bottles in Howl's bathtub, you think they're some kind of magical jars where he keeps girl's hearts, but I'm almost certain that they're just 'Dove' and 'Head and Shoulders' that he's enhanced with his spells and put silly labels on. When you read Calicifer singing a song in a language Sophie doesn't understand, you think it's some kind of ancient cipher or code, but it's actually just a rugby song in Welsh that Howl sings when he's drunk. And finally, when you see the terrifying black door, which is completely shrouded in darkness, you imagine a passage to an eerie, mythical place, similar to what Miyazaki showed us - but it's just fucking Wales.

If anything he reads like someone who's attempting to chair an unruly group project.#Honestly I think this scene does so much to show us why JGY manages to become the respectable leader he does in the future.#He's actully good at leading discussions and doesn't rise to bait. He's trying to start a productive discussion with *real facts*.#There is genuine honour in his approach and he never jumps into the emotional bandwagon.#The issue at the moment is that he doesn't have same level of authority as the contrastively *worst* sect leader does.#Jin Guangshan has a very specific agenda - to gain power by throwing anyone he deems expendable into the gutter.#The story even explicitly calls him out on not being so different from Wen Rohan multiple times.#The insidious part is that he's surrounded by people who think this is all justified.#It's all about using the 'victim' narrative to leverage justification. #practicing with my friends kitty #a doodley #im getting confused because obviously theres no White so you have to add tons of water to get a really light color #but even when i wait for a base to fully dry #adding a really wettened color doesnt really work out how i want it to #also dont understand how to blend wet on dry base color without lifting the color underneath #bc it keeps happening ...#im literally Learning. this shit is so embarrassing #i know how to get the balance of a LOT of pigment with a right amt of water #but idk how to do the same with less pigment #ANYWAY dis is hahnemuhle 100% cotton cold press sketchbook (the blue label one)#and combination holbein and DS waterkolors #i used mechanical pencil then went over it with watercolor then added colored pencil at the end

#i wanted to have fun with this one by drawing how i imagine my teams base to look postgame (too lazy to color it though)#dont stare at it too hard- i suck at perspective so i had to make a mockup in minecraft and draw over it TT_TT #i really wish they did more with the team base after graduation like.. some decorations at least. and i was always curious #whether the vines at the back of the room would reveal a new room and i was so disappointed when it didnt #im gonna ramble a bit abt what i drew here-#a small pool has been built around the spring so it holds more water.. it was inspired by the well in secret world of arrietty #+ a small garden to plant crops like berries. i think neptune would be the one to manage it to keep his hands busy #theres also a table with a copy of the map used for planning out travel routes besides the one carried in the bag #in my gameplay i like to stack missions if theyre in the same location for efficiency and i think they do that too #the bookshelf is their shared collection of comics and favorite books. and theres a bulletin board with mementos and #i think maybe some nice letters theyve received. you can also see grovyles wanted poster as a keepsake #theres a back room covered by vines which separates the bedroom and i didnt get to draw it but tbh theres not much there #just their beds and collection of treasures. maybe some stuffed toys and gifts?#there are string lights hung around the ceiling in the main room #my art #myart #pokemon mystery dungeon #pmd #heropartnerweek #heropartnerweek2025 #doodles #team satellite #oc #ocs

something people just don’t think about is how often chronically ill and disabled people just don’t have access to good food. not healthy food, good food; well made, tasty meals that don’t come from a jar or a freezer. how many of us are housebound or can’t drive? delivery services only offer within certain distances, if you live outside a city they aren’t an option. many people don’t have the energy or ability to cook for themselves if they have the skill to begin with. many certainly don’t have the ability to learn how. it’s something that goes completely unnoticed, just the opportunity to have a good meal and how much that wears you down

There are so many timeskips within the flashback! My flow and pacing are wheezing!#I loved how this scene starts with the crowd's point of view. The observations and gossip add a lot.#And it helps reposition us to what the external perspective is on these two. Namely that 'they don't get along.'#Tensions are known! Even here in Nouveau Lotus Pier.#Ah...Lan Wangji never got a chance to see the Lotus Pier of Wei Wuxian's childhood and adolescence...did he?#It's not the same. He's not the same. Call them by the same name and people will know what you mean...#...but the first version - the one with the fond memories - is gone for good.#It's sort of interesting isn't it? How names can hold so much power and still be hollow?#We often get stuck over past versions of things. Be it ourselves or other people or places.#Change is scary but the truth is nothing ever stays the same. It's always moving. You're always moving.#It's okay to mourn the past. Maybe it's people you lost or the person you hoped to be. Let yourself feel the grief.#And then? Then you grow around that pain and keep on going.
