finished reading Star Wars: Brotherhood today and while I have so many thoughts about it, I absolutely had to share this part of the acknowledgments in the back because it made me actually physically gasp

1) Queen’s trilogy mention + Padmé fashion appreciation!! (I’d gotten hints of the thoughtfulness this author had towards her wardrobe but this was amazing to know)

I’ll post the snippet and then I also can give you an update about the fic/where I’m at, at the bottom.

So the reason why I haven’t posted the chapter yet is for a few reasons 💕 One, from a writing standpoint this one is quite longer, and I want it to be amazing for you guys! When I was writing the first chapter I had a friend to help me with the dialogue (which is why I feel I really struggle) and rn I don’t, so I think I’ve been nervous about that a bit.

But also, because in my real life there’s been a lot of major changes recently. In September I found out that I have CIRS (Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome) which, is basically like mold sickness but, like, permanent. So I’ve been trying to find somewhere safe to move/detox from the mold w meds bc my body can’t on its own, and I’m actually just finally moving into my new apartment on Sunday! 💖🙌🏻 so that’s cool.

Besides that, I also got diagnosed with, like, idk, I guess it’s a disability, technically, and the fact that I’ve been struggling my whole life with it but never knew has been… kind of mind blowing tbh? Like I haven’t told anyone except one person about it—not even my best friends yet—bc it’s been a lot to work through since… I guess I’ve technically had this my whole life but only now know at 25? 😅🤯

So it’s been a lot of working on my health both physically, mentally, and with moving, my family, Christmas coming up, and trying to find a job/support myself even day-to-day, it’s been kind of taxing tbh balancing everything. And that’s not even mentioning the little social life I do have 😅😭🙈 So while I know it’s frustrating waiting, and I’m sorry that it’s taken so long, I do want to be open and tell you guys what’s going on behind the scenes 💕 Granted, I know not everyone necessarily cares, and that’s okay! If you did read all this, though, I appreciate you and hope you have an amazing day!

Your ask, though, Nonnie definitely is inspiring me to sit down and really finish the next two chapters bc I have both laid out- one nearly finished, the other will be shorter (I think?) because of the plot point it’s mostly about 💕 I will say though, too, it does make me a bit anxious not having had a whole plan for this fic unlike the others which I’ve sort of started writing with a whole plot in mind 😂🙈💖 so I just hope you guys will continue to love it ask much as you’ve loved the first chapter! soo i almost finished the chapter and I’m actually surprised that reader was so shocked that rafe is lowkey misogynistic bc he constantly talks about other girls who aren’t reader in such a weird way it’s eww (and it’s not a criticism of your writing, cause i think it’s actually a good portrayal of a man bc they are like that and I really like your writing, but it just hit me that reader didn’t really have a problem with it before until it was about her personally)

no offense taken at all omg i'm actually really glad you pointed that out!! first of all--and this is important--i never claimed this reader was flawless or perfect (no reader should be imo). she's def got her own blind spots and flaws, and this is actually one of them.

you’re totally right that (kms!)rafe is lowkey misogynistic (or shows traits that lean that way), e.g. the way he talks about past hookups, how he reacts to stuff, and just how he speaks about women in general, it’s there. and yeah, reader does ignore it a lot of the time or just brushes it off. not because it’s okay (which it's not) but because she has a huge crush on him and is now actually truly falling in love.

and i think when you’re in that early phase of having feelings for someone, you kinda subconsciously ignore all the red flags because you want to keep the version of them in your head “clean” and nice and ideal. she’s not blind to his behavior, e.g. she notices his mood swings, his anger issues, the way he talks about girls, but she doesn’t actually let it hit her until it affects her directly. and that’s a flaw of hers!!

i’m glad you caught that bc sometimes i do worry i made her too understanding or too aware or just too chill?? but nah. she’s not a mary sue. no reader or human is. and this thing you pointed out--how she only really reacts when the misogyny is about her--that’s actually just one part of a bigger issue with her, which is deflection. she doesn’t like facing the things that ruin her image of him.

and tbh a part of that is internalized misogyny too. like, she kinda "accepts" the way he talks about other girls—not bc she likes it, but bc it’s not directed at her. and on some level she probably feels like she's the "exception," like she's different and safe from it. which is... not great obviously, but it’s also a pretty common mindset, i believe (sadly i went through that too). she’s still learning that being the exception doesn’t mean the behavior isn’t harmful. (like we need to remember she's NO grown woman, she's very mature BUT she's still just a young woman stepping into adulthood and learning about stuff) and a lot of the time she chooses to ignore it bc acknowledging it would mean questioning the whole thing—him, her feelings, the relationship—and she’s not ready for that yet.

and like. no one’s even mentioned how chill she is about the coke use or the fact that he’s always down to fight someone lmfao?? like yeah she told him to apologize to topper during the open air movie night but she never really went "hey stop beating the shit outta people" either lol. again: she notices it but lets it slide because she’s still in that phase of "he’s so messed up but i'm in love".

so yeah, her finally realizing his behavior was bad when it’s about her is a small turning point. like that scene where she thinks:

And that’s when it hit you. Both the cocky asshole and this anxious boy were Rafe. It wasn’t a mask or a false front; neither of them masked the other. Both were real. Maybe you’d known deep down and just didn’t want to acknowledge this ugly side. But it was there. It was just part of him.

also--just to throw it in here--while we as readers see A LOT of rafe’s misogyny and internal issues bc we’ve been in his head so much through his povs, reader hasn’t. she obviously hears the gross stuff he says out loud occasionally (like sometimes calling girls bitches etc), but a lot of it is internal. she doesn't know how he actually thinks about stuff the way WE do. not trying to defend him AT ALL, just saying that her perspective is limited and filtered through what he chooses to show her and not what we as readers see.

anyway i feel like i’m rambling now lmao (sorry for this long-ass answer, just such an interesting point to talk about) but yeah. this was a really good observation and i actually really appreciate you pointing it out. and i’m hoping to include a scene soon where reader fully starts questioning if she wants this, aka the drugs, the violence, the deeper layers of him, bc right now she’s still in the “he’s an anxious boy so of course he acts like this plus im in love so idgaf ” phase.

“so, yeah, that’s what happened.” sunwoo finishes her lore dump. you’re left to sit in the boiling pot she brewed for you— it was a lot to digest. yoru, someone who you had believed to be a new potential close friend, was a playboy who you have to now be careful of… why? it’s not like you two did anything last night. hell, you forgot you were watching anime with him because of how quiet he was. it was only until he asked if you wanted to hop back on the game that you remembered you in fact weren’t alone.

“you know i’m not looking for a partner, sunnie, right?” you deadpan. “especially not after…” your voice dies in your throat, your heart aching at the thought of your most recent heartbreak. you never let it show to anyone, but even if it was almost three months ago, your wounds were still healing. every time you spoke of anything regarding relationships, it would always make your heart bleed a little bit. your ex’s fingers were intertwined within your soul; getting rid of his impact would be as if you are trying to breathe under water.

so, you tried to let time heal you. sunwoo had tried getting you to confide in her, but it was no use. after trying and trying she’d realized you will come to her about it in due time. she just wished for you to be okay from all of it, from him.

“i know—“ she interjects, already knowing who and what you were going to mention. “i just, i know you get attached easily. i just want you to be careful, n/n.”

sunwoo only ever mentions your nickname in serious conversations. her voice was still as energetic as ever, the worry easy to miss, but you knew her. you knew your sunwoo, and she knew her y/n. she was right, to an extent. but who was she kidding? you’d never be that desperate or lonely enough to fall for a guy online. you knew you were better than that. after your last breakup, you don’t think you can move on— not for a long while.

“alright,” you nod, a heavy sigh following afterwards. “but like i said, i promise nothing sketchy happened last night. he seemed cool.”

sunwoo laughs at your statement. “i cannot believe my ears. ‘yoru’ and ‘cool’ in the same sentence is actually insane!”

you let out a soft giggle. the two of you sat in a comfortable silence until you heard a ping notification coming from sunwoo’s server.

“they’re so nice,” you voice as you accept & return clove’s follow request on instagram. sunwoo agrees and starts talking about how she met clove— but that was all drained out when you saw another two follow requests right after.

one was ‘n3onbluues’, who you’d obviously assumed to be neon. the other by the username of ‘y0rukai.’

you’d swiftly accepted neon’s follow request without hesitation and requested to follow back.your thumb hovered over the second user, already knowing who it is. tapping on the username, you noticed that the page was public. it had very few photos; only three. all followed that dark blue nightly aesthetic; it was pleasing to look at. one was a photo of the night sky with the stars shining bright. another was two stray cats he was petting and feeding on a dark city street. one particular photo you found quite pleasing to stare at was a photo of who you’d assume was the owner of the account.

it was a selfie illuminated by the city lights that hovered over him within the dark path of the night. his hair was messy, worn completely down with a vibrant blue streak mixed along the soft sea of black. his eyes tired and squinting at the camera, brows furrowed slightly but not entirely to be a scowl. his ears pierced with silver studs, and two others can be found that framed his left brow’s arch perfectly. he adorned a scarf and a leather jacket, a dark blue shirt underneath. the only thing you would complain about is the black mask covering half of his face, a mystery yet to uncover. a scratch that needed to be itched— you wanted to see the rest of the photo— the rest of him.

his eyes are so pretty, you thought to yourself.

“y/n?” sunwoo asked, snapping you out of your gaze.

“yeah? sorry, what did you say?” you asked, still looking at your phone. you knew you’d just promised her to be careful with yoru, yeah. and you were— hell, how bad could it be to let him follow you on instagram? it’s harmless, no? friends do that. clove and neon followed you, why can’t yoru?

you accepted yoru’s follow request and followed him back, completing the mutual. you placed your phone face down on your desk next to your keyboard.

“did you wanna play some val with iso, yoru, phoenix and i? we can five stack!” she proposed excitedly.

you smiled and accepted, swiftly prompting you two to move to the server’s main voice channel.

A Long and Slow Recovery - are we past the halfway point? I am so excited to see how everything turns out. Did you do a lot of research to delve into Xie Lian’s experience with recovery? It’s very well written with regard to his mental and emotional struggles. Also , I just love how you write Hua Cheng and Xie Lian’s interactions.

Those Worthy of Following( new name change!) - I gushed about it in your comment section but need to emphasize how much I love that opening chapter with the dual between Hua Cheng and Xie Lian. And this dynamic, of Hua Cheng being the prince, and Xie Lian being the bodyguard, is A+++. Xie Lian is so calm and kind and powerful. He was so fierce about Hua Cheng not talking down about himself. Like,yes gege, please show your Hua Cheng how precious he is, haha. I ❤️ reading Xie Lian showing his protectiveness of Hua Cheng, even from the man himself. I’m also keen to see how Feng Xin and Mu Qing will take to Xie Lian in this verse too.

We are indeed past the halfway point in alasr! I honestly just kind of know what happens in a big blob with like half a dozen bullet points, so I don't have a final chapter count ready, but Chapter 20 is basically the start of the second half of the story. I originally thought the fic was gonna end at just about the New Year celebration, but it turns out his recovery is taking a lot longer than that, and his recovery isn't even the only one we're dealing with now, so I got ambitious. The premise also uh deserves a little more closure and resolution than that lol, so Arc 2 is gonna be a little higher stakes than we've had so far.

I'm so glad you're enjoying how I'm writing Xie Lian and his recovery! Haha I did research a variety of other conditions and disabilities and read accounts from people who have them, because that's just good research. Honestly, though, inspiration for the vast majority of Xie Lian's mental/emotional struggles have been sourced from firsthand experience :)

I'm mentally and physically disabled and have been my whole life, and I wasn't even diagnosed with anything (I was somehow just diagnosed with Teenager) until I hit rock bottom about it in adulthood. I've gotten to a better place with the mental stuff, but even though it's no longer an active threat to me, my bad days can still leave me nonverbal, disconnected from reality, and sometimes catatonic. The physical stuff has been getting worse over the years, and even though I can still walk independently with a cane when I leave the house (as long as I rest a lot), I still fall down just walking in my own home. I keep having to remember that my chronic pain and fatigue isn't normal, and I keep getting evidence that I'm worse than I thought. I've had to reorganize my life around all of it and I'm uh. Not taking it well lately lol.

So alasr is my self-therapy project. Xie Lian is going to get better and I'm not, and that still kind of pisses me off lol, but it's nice to vent and see someone else get a happy ending. So...yeah, at least writing alasr has helped distract me from my own pity party, and Xie Lian's anger, despair, guilt, and forced optimism are cathartic for me. It's not just about me, though; obviously I'm trying to stay in character for him and write in the context of his specific circumstances. But I guess I relate to sick fic stuff lol

But ANYWAY, AS FOR ✨ THOSE WORTHY OF FOLLOWING ✨ I'm so glad you're liking that one so far too!! I craaaaave protective badass Xie Lian and I needed a different brand of angst and drama from alasr for a while lol. I love writing violence tbh. I don't wanna spoil too much, but I definitely wanna confirm this:

TWOF is NOT a post-canon reincarnation fic. I'm personally not up for writing that kind of loss of all their canon experiences. And there are probably some really well-written takes on it! It's just not personally my speed. 😅 This one might seem like a post-canon reincarnation fic in the first couple chapters, but it'll make more sense soon.

It IS angst with a HAPPY ending, I promise!! What I'm planning right now gets really rather sad and it might seem hopeless at some point, but I promise, I'm confident in my plan to make it genuinely happy and fulfilling!

I'm exploring a trope about which I've had some general hangups, but I honestly enjoy taking tropes and tweaking them to my preferences. I think a lot of people can already guess what trope I'm talking about, which is fine with me! If it means the buildup and foreshadowing are working, I'm happy it fits!

What I'm panicking about with this wip is that I've convinced myself that I need to earn a doctorate in Tang Dynasty battle and siege tactics to write it credibly lmao. I spent three hours the other night researching ancient Chinese fire starters and the differences between Han and Tang era tea preparation (to little avail). This one is gonna take a lot of research for my own peace of mind but I hope it pays off!

Mu Qing and Feng Xin are gonna be okay!! Someone commented on ch2 that they liked that Mu Qing got hurt because they hate him and I'm like...I didn't think I'd framed that as a good thing..... 😅 That was something a Bad Guy did.......... 😅😅😅

Another chapter, another drama unfolds! I absolutely love what you are doing with the story like words can't express how much I am enjoying this mayhem 😂. Like first of all LUCA/LEIRE 'S ARM?!?! HELLO?? OMG that was described fantastically and I was shook during the whole scene. And the fact that they are abusing a drug for mages I feel so bad for them cuz they don't want to feel useless but this is them pushing themselves too much 😭 honestly and the fact that none of the gods could make him recover the arm was even WORSE but maybe they will get a cool prosthetic arm or something similar of the sort? And poor Albert/Lavina is just on the side blaming themselves that they couldn't do anything for their sibling like nooooo it isn't your fault don't do that pleeeease. Honestly them breaking down lowkey broke me on the inside cuz it was hitting too close to home. And don't get me started on the whole thing about Enid and Nauzet not remembering their memories and Rayco/Gara's behavior. And the fact that only Abora can access the souls of the other achimenceys was giving away that she isn't as innocent as she seems. Like this all is lowkey showing that our dear villain is on to something about Abora and how shady she is... (of course I don't support their war crimes 👀 but they are cooking!) Tbh I always had my doubts about the Creator but this single handedly made my suspicions rise by 100% and if we remember back at chapter 1 if we decide to tell her what Belicar/Nisa tells us in our dreams we see that she gets almost defensive which is sus and ominous 🤨. And OH OH when I saw that option of the MC being like "I want to kill them all" My reaction was literally like DAAAAMN 😨 clicks straight away and the message popping out on the corner about something sinister taking over us got me like someone is spending too much time with Belicar/Nisa. And then MC finally snapping off at the gods for not caring enough about the mortals I was like YOU GO GIRL POP OFF. AND THE WAY MC BECOMES BADASS IN THE FINAL SCENE WHEN WE GO TO THE ENTRANCE OF THE GROTTO I WAS LIKE NOW THAT'S WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT. Everything that is happening is making me even more eager for chapter 7 and I can't wait for it! (No pressure of course!) This post is already getting too long so I will have to shorten it but I would like to say how moving that conversation between MC and their mother was and little MC being like "I want to be light!" got me like awwwwww such a cute little kid. I’m glad I finally reached it and that it had the effect I expected (In the best way. I swear I’m not evil even if I make people suffer with this story from time to time, lol!). This makes me think about a certain situation that’s going to happen in Act 3. Buckle up becasue that one is going to be another emotional rollercoaster. Buuut I better stop before I get too excited and reveal everything… I’ll just say that, when I say that I focus on emotion, I mean it ;)

Now, Enid and Nauzet’s memories… That’s another mystery to uncover, especially when now those memories are connected to their enemies somehow. All I can say is that there’s still a lot to be told, not only about the memories, but also about Belicar/Nisa. There’s a reason why the do what they do and say what they say. Now, if they’ll tell the MC or not… that’s up to them, lol!

Also, with what you’re saying I have a pretty good idea of the path your MC is following and I love to see it. It tells me more than you can imagine, hehe ;)

KAMMMIIIIII that last chapter was AMAZING (also yes the theories on sukuna blackmailing gojo were RIGHT RAAAAAHH)!!!! ok ok ok so here’s the parallels/new info we’ve got so far:

- this is why gojo HATES when the reader calls herself a whore (esp thinking about after she hooks up w sukuna and gojo is driving her and he gets MAD about it)

- this is also why gojo insists on making her hate him bc he knows that’s the whole point, he knows he’s not completely clear of his obsession but he finally understands that what he did was wrong and he can’t let her love him in the way he wants

- YES the stuff abt choso being on there bc sukuna knew she would have feelings for him!!! im still a firm believer that it’s bc sukuna feels bad about what happened w choso and wants to make it up to him in some way but idk if we’ll get to see that through

- ALSO a few sukuna thoughts: sooooo was he being stalked by his ex, the one he ended up hitting? bc he talks about being afraid, and the whole “never let a woman take away what makes you a man” thing could be because he was scared by the situation? idk that just felt too personal

- i also don’t think we ever found out who actually hurt sukuna the night of his party and gave him that bruise (i thought you said at one point that it wasn’t gojo but tbh my brain is a little mushy so that might be wrong), i don’t have many theories on that one just yet but we will be cooking hmmm

- i’ve been SAYIN it but like yes what gojo did was bad. full stop. but! he also really did seem to grow throughout TFL and the idea of him being blackmailed by sukuna makes him much much more sympathetic!!! like he knows you don’t have a job so he comes up w the idea to pay you, he keeps pushing you away bc he knows you shouldn’t love him, ugh just makes my heart hurt for this poor man

- also ….hot take incoming…..but idk that sukuna is as bad as we thought. like rn he’s just trying to protect the reader from what he sees as creepy ass behavior from gojo, presumably he’s had something similar happen, and like yes bro thrives on chaos and wants to hurt us but not just for the purpose of causing pain to a stranger but specifically to punish gojo; idk i’m not here to debate intentions vs actions vs consequences but it’s not like he just did this for laughs he really is trying to make gojo hurt and clearly he has some emotions tied up in this too

- ok rereading that last paragraph idk lmao like bro still (presumably) hits yuji bc gojo also mentions bruises idk idk idk don’t come for me

- something else that stuck out to me that i haven’t been able to stop thinking abt is that in the TFL extra on reader’s wedding night w choso, it’s mentioned that sukuna gives up custody of yuji the same night gojo reveals everything (i think tbh it’s been a min since i read it), but like….why? (i think) that extra was canon and it almost feels like too much of a coincidence but maybe it just is ????? someone else who has better thoughts than i do please share hahahahaha

1. Yes! Sukuna was the first and only person Gojo’s ever heard call her such a thing so when the term is later used by the reader herself, it triggers him all over again :)

2. Yes yes yes yes!! This is exactly why Gojo kept telling her that love between them is “forbidden” and why he’d compare it to being a “crime”. You can also see how as tfl goes on, his obsession returns due to him being so close with the reader and finally experiencing her just as he’d always longed to.

3. Mhm! Sukuna is quite the mastermind :3

4. This Sukuna thought is on the right track to say the very least & avoid further spoilers! ^.^

5. Gojo was not the person to hit Sukuna that time!

6. YES I CANT STRESS THIS ENOUGH. I know he’s bad terrible etc BUT, Gojo does do exactly as he always said he would & changes for the reader to become deserving of her whilst also telling her she cannot be with him… I’d also like to point out how a lot of Gojo girlies said they would’ve picked him right then and there after his confessions but I wonder how they feel now knowing that Gojo would’ve almost never told them about his past actions 🤔

7. Sukuna is… Well, let me say this, there are no true villains nor hero’s in tfl or ftl. No one is completely good & no one is completely bad, both stories are just messy tales of humans figuring life out.

8. Well, Gojo did mention bruises but that is before tfl takes place so we don’t know when exactly Sukuna’s domestic violence stops…

9. Think about two things here— One, Sukuna mentions that the reader deserves some form of happiness out of her, a feeling that could’ve doubled after he experienced her for himself. Two, it’s theorized that Sukuna still wants to make things up to Choso. Similar to Gojo, Sukuna cannot undo what he’s done in the past but he can try to make amends. I hope that makes sense & helps your thoughts ^.^

But omg poor Jungkook! Just imaging those claw marks makes me cringe 😭 He truly is so fearless! I’d feel safe ghost hunting with him lol

Also i’m so glad we’ve learned a little more about Yoongi and his mom! I’ve always been curious about how his mother passed. It must’ve been so hard for him to lose her so tragically :( Plus the song! stop i will cry!! Every time we learn a sad detail from the boys past i just think about how lucky they are to finally be part of a home where they are so loved and don’t have to worry about being alone again :((((

I agree, Namjoon and Jeongguk showed that rare moment of wanting to protect Y/N strongly, even if it was subtle and in their own way. AHHHH poor Yoongi that was such a heart-wrenching scene to write tbh. Y/N means so much to him, and I think even the smallest threat that she might disappear on him again devastates the poor guy 😭

Resident skeptic Hoseok coming around to some of the ghosts I think!! Seeing how serious everyone else was getting about it, especially after hearing the audio, triggered that worked up reaction from the fox hybrid. But YES I sooo agree even IRL out of all the tannies I'd feel safest with Jeongguk. Dude has noooo fears and he's big and strong!!

Ahhhh again, poor Yoongi 😭🥺 Whenever I get to his prequel in the distant future, there will be even more background on his mother, their relationship, and her death. BUT 🥺🥺🥺 YESS They're all so so loved and cared for now, I think each of them are coming to terms with that one by one, which is the sweetest thing of all 💜💜

So I finally gathered the courage to read the latest chapter and now that ive calmed down i would like to give a comment that isnt just incoherent screaming lol (obvious spoilers)

Holy shit that chapter was intense.

I know we talked about the idea of Shadowheart being controlled but I never considered it the other way around and it fucking broke me.😭 I would like to file a lawsuit for infliction of emotional distress (or i would if i had money lol) The way it turned the tables on Serena in the worst way to going from being abused to in an instant becoming the thing she never wanted to be and being powerless to stop it… fuck man. This poor woman 🥺 i just wanna hug her so bad! The pure horror all over her face and Shadowheart refusing to try and defend herself, just being so loving and supportive till the end just *gross sobbing

Ok can we talk about Nocturne for a minute. First of all the absolute relief that Nocturne was herself and not just a mindwiped thrall was a true blessing. I may or may not have internally screamed when i found out she kept the ring. Just the fact she still cared enough to notice and gave it back. The fact shes still such a good person after everything is so important to me cause it would be really easy for her to turn bitter and jealous but shes not and i love her so much even though she also makes me sad. Their relationship is so complicated and I’ll never not love it. Also love the idea of her transitioning to the harpers tbh. It suits her. Hopefully she can find much better company in that work and some much needed healing. It’s what she deserves.

The fact that we dont know what was lost, and even Serena doesnt know, is absolutely KILLING me. Like was it childhood memories? Was it sandcastles? Was it the moment she first fell for her? Or was it some random thing none of us even thought of as being important until now? That would be an interesting butterfly effect to think about cause some things we think are inconsequential and dumb can sometimes save the world. It would be spicy if we lost stuff from the nobleheart au where they met before the tadpole business, cause that was formative and a turning point for Serena, and if thats gone then neither of them will really know cause it was lost to Shadowheart years ago. At the very least I’m happy she remembers who she loves :)

Firstly!! I’m so glad you liked it! I’ve said it a billion times but writing action is like my least favorite thing ever so I’m glad you could like…understand it 😅

Yeah…Shar sucks 💀 I think she understood Serena’s deepest fears and utilized them well. Poor Shadowheart didn’t know what to do in that moment except…be there for her. even though her life was on the line. (Wyll is the MVP for taking that shot in the dark- literally!!!). Serena is going to have a very hard time coming to terms with that. She almost hurt her baby 🥺She’s livid that she was compromised and in a position to harm Shadowheart, Shadowheart is livid that Serena was dragged into this mess bc of her… they have some coping/healing to do. They both sorta just lived out part of their worst nightmares. But…give it time. They’ll grow from this.

Nocturne is a good bean 🥹💕 no way in hell I was gonna let her rot in the side-cloister lmao. I think she’d fit in well with the Harpers. I do think she loves Shadowheart- to an extent. Maybe not like full blown romance but she definitely had feelings for her growing up and I think she’s still kinda weak about her. She was super gentle with Serena because she recognized her, too. So this was nice because Nocturne got to repay Shads, and she’s free to pursue her own life now, outside the cloister. That love for Shadowheart will always be there 🥰 now Shadowheart can check in on her and make sure she’ll thrive!

Yeah…tricky thing, memories 😅 you’ll find out what she’s lost in the next chapter, and probably over the course of several more. I had to take away enough to be meaningful, but also refrain from leaving her with no memories- because she’s still clearly in love with Shadowheart, remembers her mother, etc. you take too much away, and that changes. So I had to balance it out a bit lmao.

Certain things, potentially even people who were important to Serena, are really gone, though. Just luck of the draw with whatever memories were at the forefront of her mind when she was getting wiped, I suppose. You have to admire the way she fought to cling to every last memory of Shadowheart, though 🥺💕

But they’re safe and sound now 🥰 and the healing can begin! I hope you enjoy what’s to come!!! (I heard there’s a wedding around the corner lmao) thank you so much for reading and sharing these incredibly kind words!!!

Your slasher handler story is just… 😩💕 I can’t believe this good food tbh. It’s perfection. I literally am on the edge of my seat. The predator/prey dynamic is perfectly executed, the way you describe his true nature shining through the façade every now and then, and despite the fact she catches some of those moments herself she still tries to be rational, to befriend him to keep herself safe😭 I’m like babyyyyy, you’re a lamb walking into the jaws of a wolf thinking you’ll be going for a kiss??? But this last chapter (and the ones before) I was really thinking he was going soft on her because they had their tender moments and it seems like the stockholm syndrome is really settling, but the ending had me grasping my pearls!

(ps: is it okay to send in an idea/request if you vibe w it based on this story? I just had a very angsty imagine in mind, where somewhere along the way he finally has almost all ties with your life cut. You quit your job, you are basically not allowed to leave and you don’t have any contact with anyone unless it’s supervised which is very rare. But you try to bargain to visit your apartment or a friend one last time, you promise it’s just to say “goodbye” and after that you’re going to do whatever he wants (which he finds adorable, a pet he owns trying to bargain with him. But he humours you nonetheless, because this could get very interesting and he already has some ideas for his reward). For you, it’s partially a last desperate attempt to raise alarms, but also you’re just so homesick for your life as you knew it. Sure, it wasn’t perfect but it was yours. And you were in control of it in freedom. You get to have your moment, but he makes you say your goodbyes and takes you back home with him eventually (a twisted part of me sees him make you /or have you watch him set fire to the building for some reason😭). And on the way back home you just break down, as it finally settles that it’s really game over for you now and that you’ve lost. You’re his now. And the realisation for him that he hasn’t broken you in as well as he thought he had, so now he has to fix that of course.

Idk there’s just something about thinking that bargaining with your captor is a good idea and not realising you’re always always gonna up w the short end of the stick that I just eat up)
