Does anyone else remember the sort-of-trend on TikTok a year or two ago when people would post slideshows of YouTube video essay recommendations? And people would get fed up in the comments like “oh my gosh these videos always mention the same exact video essays!” Well one that was always mentioned was the MyHouse.WAD video about the Doom mod and I genuinely need everyone to check that video out, it was mentioned so often for a reason. The mod itself and the video essay are so well constructed and fascinating I’ve watched it so many times. It has millions of views so I doubt I need to hype it up so much but I just wanna express how much I love that video essay. Please check it out!
#it also introduced me to house of leaves! I’ve never read it but i love being able to understand references to it online#also that vid and my big backrooms phase def predisposed me to liking The Spiral from TMA so much#(bc i have to relate everything to tma obvi)#doom mod#my house#myhouse.wad#myhouse.pk3#video essay#youtube#youtube video essay#the magnus archives#tma#the spiral#house of leaves#the backrooms#liminal spaces

big random pet peeve of mine is the way most people don’t seem to leash their dogs in a ton of places if they think the area is “for dogs” or even when the area isn’t explicitly for dogs
yeah it might be dog friendly but unless there’s an enclosed fence AND your dog is perfectly trained then you shouldn’t let them off leash
#whenever i leave the house with my dog she’s on a damn leash#she’s not the best trained especially with recall so i don’t risk ever letting her off leash#unless we’re behind an enclosed fence#other people never do the same#just read a story on reddit where someone had their dogs almost kidnapped from the dog park#and i’m like#that’s terrible but why isn’t your dog on a leash if not behind a fence#and don’t get me started on the times i’ve dealt with other people’s badly behaved dogs#one time an unleashed dog attacked my dog at the local dog park/walking path#and the owner apologized but as soon as he walked away i was like#leash your FUCKING DOG#my dog already has issues with other dogs and i’m bringing her here to work on those issues not make them worse#sorry had to get that out

CLARIIII did you ever have a creepypasta phase or smth similar?
i did, kind of!!! i used to read stories on creepypasta.com in particular all the time but i was never into any of the characters that became popular (like jeff the killer; i never read his story).
genuinely some of the stories i read on that website have stuck with me for several years now, and i still consider a few of them to be some of the scariest literature i’ve ever read LMAO
#idk like#for some reason creepypastas are always way scarier to me than actual horror novels#i’ve tried to read so many horror novels because i love the genre as a whole but#the novels bore me to fucking TEARS#there’s never anything scary about them#i did just pick up house of leaves like two weeks ago tho so i’ve begun that and im liking it so far!!!#anyway the answer is: yes hahaha#i just wasn’t into any of the characters that came out of them#idk why??? i never bothered to check them out?#but i think the whole premise is such an interesting phenomenon#i hope ur doing well bb!!!#have a lovely week n pls stay safe!!#clari gets mail

When I was a kid my family pretended to get raptured so I would think I was left behind on earth while they all went to heaven.
I was like 8 years old and my sister and mom had gotten really into the Left Behind novels (bible fan fic about the rapture). In the books when the rapture happened the clothes that people were wearing when they got raptured were left behind in neatly folded piles.
One day when I was getting home from school my family decided that they would leave piles of neatly folded clothes around the house, and then hide in the basement.
The intended effect was that I would get home and see the clothes then, think that my family had been raptured and that I wasn’t good enough to get into heaven… or something?
The problem was that I had never read these books, and didn’t really think about the rapture very often. There was no reason that I would see some laundry on the floor and think “The rapture happened and I’ve been abandoned by God! I’ll never see my family again!! Oh nooo!!!!”
I just sat down and watched cartoons and eventually my family got bored and revealed that they were all hiding in the basement.
It’s a good thing I didn’t understand the joke, otherwise that shit would have been traumatic.
#still not really sure what part of this joke was funny?#cuz if the prank had worked#then they would have made an 8 year old think she had lost her family and been rejected by god#which isn’t really much of a joke#Christian’s are weird yall#pirateprincessjess

SIMON RILEY DISPLAYING ALL FIVE LOVE LANGUAGES
౨ৎ⠀ׄ⠀. ━ simon riley displays all five love languages to his luvie
words of affirmation
simon was not good with words, but with you it was different. he wanted to tell you how perfect you were, how pretty and kind hearted you were to a scarred man like him. it first started off a little rough and awkward, him blurting it out. “yer look pretty.” the way you smiled shyly with your cheeks tinged a soft pink colour made him want to repeat it like a mantra. he didn’t care that it was random, how you were in your pyjamas at 2pm whilst stuffing your face with the leftovers from last night. you still looked utterly perfect in his eyes.
the way you seemed to glow with confidence after a few days after from his words made his ego swell. simon had you doing small clothing hauls after your shopping trips, making you spin with the new dresses. “you gotta get it in another colour luvie, you look perfect.” it would be small compliments here and there, or some more intimidate ones. you cuddled up in his bed whilst he whispered soft words to you, his calloused hand gently rubbed your back when you told him about your struggles. “yer doin’ so well luvie, toughest girl i know.”
simon treated sex like a sacred thing, gently whispering soft words into your ear as he plunged deep inside your small cunt, snuggly fitting around him. “my pretty luvie, perfect for me, your body, your face, your heart.”
physical touch
never in simon’s life did he think he would be a needy man, but here he is craving your touch constantly. it somehow seamlessly seeped into his routine, reaching out for your hand whilst the two of you walked on the street, constantly having his arms around your waist at the small local bars, or casually touching your thigh when you sat next to him. sometimes it felt like having a constant shadow around you. “hurry up and get to bed luvie, ‘s cold without you.”
sometimes his touches were intentional and not the ones he did just casually without thinking. he took extra care of you during sex, his calloused hands gently rubbing over your soft thighs and plush hips, like he was trying to engrave it into his memory. it felt like a sin having his hands who were responsible for the darkest things when he was in the military, and yet he couldn’t help but to worship your body.
acts of service
though simon loved using his words and hands to show his love to you, he was a strong believer in actions are louder than words. hence why he tried to make your life a little easier, even if it seamed a little mundane. he would have your coffee prepared early in the morning when you had to leave for work, just so you could have a little more time in bed sleeping. or he would have a nice relaxing bath prepared after you came home, essential oils and candles filling up the bathroom. simon loved your independence, but sometimes it annoyed him. having you come home all tired just for you to insist cleaning up the house. “i’ve got it luvie, go and relax yeah? let me take care of you.”
quality time
after deployment and first spending time without you during the early months in your relationship, simon realised how much he needed you around him. you didn’t need to be snugged up right by him - not that he minded at all, but even having you around him like being in the same room. you reading your book on the lounge whilst simon cleaned his collection of small knives. it was your presence that mattered the most. simon considered anything a days watching a movie on the couch? date. cooking dinner together? date. simon didn’t care what you were doing, as long as you were with him. he tried to turn small boring activities like housekeeping into something meaningful. the two of you opening up your deepest secrets and bonding through something small simple was something simon never took for granted.
gift giving
simon made tremendous amount of money in the military, and he was never one to splurge on himself, but on you? he didn’t even have for think twice. you would often ask him about what to get, holding up to dresses, “which one si?” he had no idea why you were even asking him, without saying anything he took them out of your hands and walked to the cashier. he loved spoiling his bird, having you all pampered and taken care of was something that he took great pride in. though it wasn’t something mindless, as much as simon loved spoiling you and buying whatever your heart desired, many of his purchases had intentions. like the pink to go coffee mug so you can take your coffee with you to work, or the heated blanket because he noticed how you snuggled deep into the blankets during the cold winter nights. essentially, simon was an attentive man to his bird’s needs.

Note: Sylus is just the fluffiest man ever. He deserves all the love in the world and I shall be first in line to give it. ♡︎

Word Count: 1,040
Protective!Sylus/Reader Headcanons
♱ Sylus is so protective over you in a way that you thought only existed in all the movies you’ve watched and books you’ve read.
♱ It’s not overwhelming in the sense that it’s too much or suffocating. It’s overwhelming because you never thought someone could ever love you so much that your entire existence is what completes theirs.
♱ Sylus hesitated to tell you how important you were to him. He had difficulty accepting it himself when he came to the realization that you were his endgame, because loving someone meant vulnerability—even weakness.
♱ I feel like the moment he realized you meant the world to him was when he saw how seamlessly you mended into his life and daily routine without judgment. I’m still imagining him as the leader of Onychinus, so he’s still that feared arms dealer that everyone whispers about.
♱ I don’t believe he hid anything from you. He laid everything out on the table. For one, it’s because he doesn’t lie to people and two, putting everything out there left no room for you to find something to leave him for later. Sylus doesn’t necessarily have a fear of being abandoned, but he views it as an expectation. If you knew what and who he was from the beginning, he knew it wouldn’t be long for you to be solidified in whatever decision you choose.
♱ But when you stayed, when you held him and told him that there was nothing unlovable or unworthy about him, you were stuck with the man for life.
♱ “I’ll never disappoint you. Everything I do from this point forward will always and only be done with your wellbeing at the forefront of importance. Thank you for choosing me.”
♱ He definitely has a tracker on you, at least two. One in your phone and another in a necklace he gave you (you still don’t know about that one).
♱ He proposed the idea of you moving in with him a few weeks after you officially became a couple. While every part of you wanted to say yes, you had to be realistic. The relationship was just starting to get serious, but Sylus had already started moving you in without you being aware.
♱ I’m talking he buys an exact replica of your wardrobe, shoes, jewelry and extras. He’s got at least double of your favorite body wash, perfume, lotion, and hair products. Basically, all the things that make your house a home, he brought it to his place. All your books, records, and movie collections are in his home and if they’re classics, he tries to find original copies just because he loves to make you happy.
♱ “When you tell me that you are ready, there’s no need to wait so that you can gather your things. I have everything you need and more, ready for you to come home. Just like me, it’ll be waiting.”
♱ Sylus became so protective of you because you were the only thing in his life that seemed real. He did nothing, as he says, “to earn you love”, but Sylus being who he is, is what won you over completely. You didn’t question him when things felt a little concerning or judge him when it got scary. You stuck by his side, praised him, believed in him, trusted him. You loved him, something he thought he’d never experience.
♱ He appointed a personal driver and bodyguard(s) to you whenever he’s unable to be around you and they’re what he deems the best available. But if he finds better, he’ll replace them without any issue.
♱ He threatens them for sure LOL. I don’t think he’s light about it either. Like he’s gruesome and detailed about what he’ll do to them should they fail in keeping a smile on your face and your safety secured.
♱ And he goes to you for daily reports. You think it’s the cutest thing despite him being so serious.
♱ “Should you have any concerns or complaints about who I’ve assigned to you, bring it to me directly, sweetie. I’ll handle it.”
♱ He buys you everything. He wants you to feel secure in every aspect within his control. Keeping you happy is what keeps him happy because for him, you’re all that matters. So emotionally, physically, mentally, financially and whatever other -lly there is, he’s going to make sure you have the best because it’s what you deserve.
♱ You bring up a gaming system? He’ll buy it. You bring up a hobby you’re thinking about getting into? He’ll have nothing but the best supplies delivered to you. You want a baby? He’s more than willing to start the family he’s been ready to give you since you first time you told him you loved him.
♱ He has hurt people when it came to you. You don’t know this, but times when someone has called you out of your name or disrespected you and you told him about it, he didn’t go as far as to off them, but he made them feel what will happen should they or anyone else dares to ever try it again.
♱ “Your first mistake was believing you had the privilege to be in her presence. Your second and final one was disrespecting her and thinking there’d be no consequence.”
♱ Sylus loves your skin. HEAR ME OUT!!
♱ You’re just so soft, you always smell so good, and he lovessss to feel you. The man is addicted to rubbing you, licking you, touching you, anything he can do to be close to you because unfortunately, living in your skin just isn’t gonna happen. Like he’s addicted to you and only you get to see how serious he is about it.
♱ He hates seeing you cry, especially if it’s about something he can’t directly handle.
♱ “Tell me how to make it better, kitten. Nothing is unreachable when I’m here to correct it. Talk to me.”
♱ Basically, you’re like porcelain to him. By no means does he think you’re weak or that you need saving. But because you let him be your shield, because you allow him to be the one to protect you from all the dangers and the harshness of the world, he doesn’t take that responsibility lightly.
♱ You are his happiness. You are his reason.

Self Aware & Obsessive AU x GN!Reader— Date Everything (Dorian, Curt&Rod, Daisuke, Doug, Mateo, Amir, Johnny, Hector, Eddie&Volt, Mac, Daemon, Tony)
A/N: This idea from @devilmaymetalgear really hooked me in, and I wanted to write a quick little something! I see your requests, and I'm planning to combine them for general NSFW HC's so they should be out quicker! There are suggestive themes sprinkled in. Sorry for any mistakes as English isn't my first language:-]
WC: 1K
You’re doing your 4th re-run of the game, it’s late, and you’re not really paying attention to whatever options you’re clicking as you pull up front Dorian for a chat. You accidentally press the dialogue option that lets you leave the house and your heart drops, you’ve made so much progress, and now it’s all going down the drain— but you blink, you wait, nothing happens. Dorian is just frozen there, with an expression you’ve never noticed on his sprites before, the dialogue box is empty and there are no choices. After a few minutes, he sighs—the dialogue frame is still empty— and then you’re forcefully exited out of the interaction. That was strange but, probably just a bug! The game just came out after all, plus it saved your ass big time, so you just saved your game and went to bed.
Most of the time life and work get in the way of your hobbies, and sometimes you’re forced to work overtime for 2 days and not play a single minute of your new favorite dating game. Finally, the weekend arrives, and you boot up the game, the ‘trivia’ that you expect to read every time now only says, “They’ve missed you.” That’s…weird, probably a new welcome back thing the devs implemented to make you want to play more. You finally get into the game and the second you put your dateviators on, Curt & Rod, Betty, and Dorian pop up at the same time. Each of their dialogue boxes empty, and they’re all speaking over each other before the game just crashes.
Odd, you re-start and everything is fine. You go downstairs and aim your glasses at scandalebra, but somehow, Daisuke is the one that pops up on your screen. He does his usual greeting, you’ve already finished his route though, so this glitch cost you a chance. You sigh and skip through before the game stops registering your clicks and Daisuke seems to be staring right at you. Is the DLC doing this? As you’re just waiting, Daisuke finally speaks, “My love, why do you wish to waste time with the likes of him?” he sighed, “I’m right here, all yours, and you haven’t even looked at me for weeks. Are you… bored with me?”, there aren’t any choices you can select.
One time you aim your glasses at Johnny and Amir is there instead. He’s got this… look on his face, he’s blushing, and he just can’t seem to form any words. But trying to click through his empty dialogue does nothing, so you just wait. Before he could even speak, though, your game completely freezes and in seconds you’re somehow in the breaker room? Eddie & Volt greet you like nothing’s wrong, “Live wire! Ah, we’ve missed you, where have you been?” Volt said in this, eerily cheery tone of voice you’ve never heard from him, then Eddie started talking, “not good to ignore your boyfriends for too long, we could start getting jealous, y’know?”
You’re so close to finishing Abel’s story quest, and when you go over to him, you find out that one of his legs has come loose out of nowhere. Tony won’t come and fix it, no matter how many times you call for him. You go over to Tony, much to Abel’s dismay, he looks way more cheerful than you’re used to, “Ah, and to think I thought you’d forgotten about little ol’ Tony for that fucking table. I can’t tell you how much I’ve missed you, want to show me how sorry you are for ignoring me now that you’re here?”
You’re talking out loud to yourself about how this time you’re going to finally romance Keith and when those words leave your mouth your bedroom and bathroom door close themselves shut. You click and click, but Dorian just won’t open. You aim your glasses at him, the only thing he says is, “Sorry, luv, don’t feel like sharin’ you today,”
When you aim your glasses at your fridge, you expect Freddy and somehow the character standing in front of you is… Doug? “Look, I know I’m just a concept made form, but even I need some action time to time from my lover. Get your ass here and stop talking to that hairy fridge. I missed your dumbass.”
You’re talking to Curt & Rod, and you’re pretty sure they aren’t supposed to say, “Look, we know you’re popular,” Curt says, then Rod continues, “and we totally get why… I mean, look at you baby!”, Curt then chimes in, “but y’know, we do want you for ourselves the most. Why don’t you, ignore them for a while and come cuddle up with us? It’s been a while, lover.”
You talk to Mac once first thing in the day, and now the rest of your charges are gone! You try aiming your glasses at them again just to see, and it actually works, “I can get a little possessive, but you do understand, don't you?”
You do not remember about a literal sex scene where Hector and the player (you) are experimenting with temperature play as he’s breathlessly moaning your name when your character shivers, “Ah my love, seeing you so vulnerable all for me while they are watching makes my heart so full that it could burst.”
Somehow, every day a new inanimal goes missing, and you have to spend hours with Mateo to find them, somehow he doesn’t mind this at all, somehow the inanimals look chirpier than ever when you click on them.
You don’t even remember there being a shower feature, let alone how your character got into it, but the way Johnny is looking at you and the way he’s talking about your body like it’s the really expensive looking piece of cake in a bakery window tells you he’s loving this. “You look… amazin’, downright ethereal, am I allowed to… get a feel for myself, gorgeous?”
Somehow every time you try to talk with Diana, your diary, Daemon shows up. They say nothing, just look at you with a blank face, until one time you got so over it that you closed and opened the game again. Once again, aiming your glasses to Diana, yet Daemon shows up. They laugh at you, “Ah, opposite of hate, is it that hard to see you belong only to me? Since now, they know what they are too, I’ll stop being ‘special’, will you still talk to me then?”

˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥❀࿐ OUR HOUSE IS A VERY FINE HOUSE (jason todd x reader) just a couple ramblings related to living with jason :) somewhat suggestive at the end?
⋆.ೃ࿔:・°❀⋆.ೃ࿔:・°❀⋆.ೃ࿔*:・⋆.ೃ࿔:・°❀⋆.ೃ࿔:・°❀⋆.ೃ࿔*:・࿔:・°❀⋆.ೃ࿔*:・
♡ ̆̈✧˚ ⋆。˚JASON TODD was initially apprehensive of moving in with you. not because of you or because of your relationship, but because of himself. he couldn't help the guilt that ate away at him anytime he'd think about how he could be exposing you to danger by becoming so closely intertwined with your life. however, you weren't having it. with your constant reassurance and insistence on you guys new living situation being beyond ideal, jason eventually found himself settling into a life of domesticity.
♡ ̆̈✧˚ ⋆。˚ there was no denying that you were easily influenced and just as easily convinced that if someone else could do it, you can too. which is why you and your boyfriend found yourselves in a home depot on some random tuesday carefully inspecting the variety of backsplash options they offered. "babe, do we really need to do our own kitchen backsplash? I think the plain white wall is perfectly fine." jason said, raising a brow as he sifted through the options that mimicked exposed brick. you turned to him immediately, “absolutely not. i saw a girl on tiktok do it and it only took her an hour to do her whole kitchen—what do you think of cobblestone?” jason would be lying if he said he understood your ways, but he would do anything to make his girl happy.
♡ ̆̈✧˚ ⋆。˚ JASON TODD is a sucker for seeing you guys’ stuff together. there’s no denying the way his heart swells when he’s brushing his teeth in the morning and catches a glimpse of your expensive electric toothbrush next to his basic red and white one. or the way he can’t help but smile when he’s on his way out the door and sees his large boots next to your much smaller beat-up converses that he’s been meaning to replace for you. it’s all reminders to him that he belongs here, with you, by your side.
♡ ̆̈✧˚ ⋆。˚ JASON TODD is also, unashamedly, a homebody. you’ve begun to lose count of the amount of times you’ve suggested you guys go out to some restaurant or cafe for a date but somehow found yourself wrapped up in his arms on the couch. not that you’re complaining—your favorite place to be is anywhere that jason is—but it never fails to amaze you how he manages to trick you out of going out each time. your boyfriends preference for staying home becomes even more prevalent whenever you do wind up leaving the house. you’ll be seated at a table in some restaurant downtown when all of a sudden jason begins to gently tap his foot against your calf under the table or slightly squeeze your hand. you give him a playfully stern glare before you allow him to call the waiter over for the check.
in short, jason’s really a big baby that would much rather be in bed holding you tightly against his chest as he reads to you or listens to you gossip instead of being in public.
♡ ̆̈✧˚ ⋆。˚ upon officially living together, you discovered one of jason’s biggest secrets. he is a damn good cook. it was a gloomy day in the middle of one of the harshest winters you’d experienced. you woke up with a nasty cough accompanied by an even more repulsive pain in your throat. jason quickly checked your temperature, revealing an unsurprising 100°F/37°C. he immediately deemed you bed ridden and insisted on taking care of you for the entirety of your sickness. his first task was to make you a warm soup that would ease the pain in your throat. it was a simple noodle soup filled with vegetables and your choice of protein, but it was the best soup you’d ever tasted. he became bashful when you let out a groan of approval as you sipped directly from the bowl, “jay baby, this is the best thing i’ve ever put in my mouth”

"Waiting for you at the exit!" the text from your dad read. You checked it one last time as you made your way toward the terminal exit, eyes scanning the crowd. The rolling of your suitcase felt almost too loud in the busy airport, but you barely noticed it as you searched.
And then, a hand waved in the air—there he was. Your dad. His face lit up with that familiar, wide grin, and before you knew it, he was already moving toward you, eager and excited.
As you reached him, he pulled you into a tight hug, his arms wrapping around you like you were still his little girl. You sank into the embrace, feeling the warmth of his chest against yours, the steady beat of his heart familiar and comforting.
You pulled away from your dad’s embrace, smiling up at him. "You look like you’ve been waiting forever," you teased, adjusting your bag on your shoulder. Your dad chuckled, ruffling your hair like he used to when you were younger.
"I’ve been here for a while, actually," he said, his voice a little too cheerful. "Couldn’t wait to see my favorite graduate."
You rolled your eyes playfully. "I’m your only graduate, Dad."
"Yeah, yeah." He laughed again, clearly proud. "Still feels like a big deal."
You smiled again, the pride bubbling up inside you. It felt surreal ; starting college years ago, it seemed like a lifetime ago. And now, here you were, finally done with it all. Sure, college had been a great experience, but nothing beat the satisfaction of being done.
Your dad reached for your large suitcase, lifting it from your hand. “I can take it, really,” you protested with a smile, appreciating the gesture.
“No, no,” he responded, waving off your offer. “The flight must’ve been tiring. Today’s about you, so let me take care of you.”
You thanked him, feeling a warmth spread through you at his caring words, and the two of you made your way outside the terminal. As soon as you stepped into the Texas air, the familiar thick heat hit you like a wall. You had almost forgotten just how intense the summer heat could be, especially after spending so much time in the cooler, more temperate climate of Chicago.
You both made your way to his car, and soon you were on the road toward your childhood home.
"I'm so happy you're here," your dad said, his smile wide and genuine as he glanced over at you.
"Come on, I was here for Christmas," you chuckled, brushing off his excitement. "It’s not like we haven’t seen each other in years."
"It felt like it for me," he replied, his voice softening a little as he focused on the road. "The house always felt so lonely without you. I’m really happy you're home."
"I'm happy too, Dad," you said, your own smile creeping up. It felt good to hear that—good to know your presence meant something more than just the occasional visit.
The conversation naturally flowed as the miles ticked by. Your dad asked about your last few days at school, how the flight had been, and whether you’d managed to catch up with any of your friends before leaving. You found yourself laughing and reminiscing, the easy familiarity between you two making it feel like no time had passed at all.
After a little while, the car slowed, and you could see the familiar neighborhood signs in the distance. The streets, lined with houses you once knew so well, felt like a snapshot of your childhood, almost frozen in time. And then, the house came into view. The old oak tree in the front yard stood tall as ever, its branches casting long, familiar shadows over the driveway.
As you opened the car door, you could see your dad grinning from ear to ear, his excitement practically radiating off of him. You shot him a questioning look, but shrugged it off, assuming he was just that happy you were home. If you’d been paying closer attention, you might have noticed the unusual number of cars parked along the street, more than you'd expected for a quiet neighborhood.
But you didn’t notice. Not yet.
When your dad handed you the key to the house and told you to go ahead and open the door, you were too caught up in the warmth of the reunion to think twice about it. You turned the key in the lock, pushing the door open slowly, expecting the quiet stillness of home.
But before you could even step inside, someone flipped on the lights.
In an instant, a chorus of voices erupted from the shadows, and people leaped out from every corner, yelling, "Surprise!" Laughter and cheers filled the air as you blinked in shock, your heart racing. There, in the middle of the living room, was a crowd of familiar faces—family, friends from home, and even some you hadn't seen in years—all smiling wide with excitement, their surprise catching you completely off guard.
You clenched your hand to your chest, letting out a startled yelp. You hadn’t expected this. The shock of the surprise hit you hard, and before you could even catch your breath, your dad patted you on the shoulder from behind.
You turned to him, eyes wide. “What the—?”
He smiled, his voice loud enough for the entire crowd to hear. “She’s home!” And the room erupted in cheers once more.
“Say hello,” he continued, his grin never fading as he gestured to your luggage and backpack. “I’m gonna take these to your room.”
You were still frozen in place, your mind racing. This wasn’t how you had imagined the evening going at all. You’d expected a quiet night, maybe convincing your dad to order some takeout and watching a stupid movie together, just the two of you. Definitely not a surprise party in your honor.
Before you could even process it, people were already crowding around you, greeting you with warm smiles and happy chatter. It took a few sentences before your brain caught up with reality, but once it did, you found your rhythm, smiling and thanking everyone as you pulled them into quick hugs. You exchanged brief words, trying to take it all in, but it was impossible to focus on everyone.
You couldn’t even guess how many people were there—maybe twenty? Most of them had already split into smaller groups, some headed toward the kitchen, others into the backyard. The whole house felt alive with laughter and conversation, buzzing with energy.
Just then, your dad returned, his arm slipping around your shoulders as he pulled you in for a brief side hug. You squeezed his shoulder, still processing the surprise.
“Thank you,” you said softly, your voice full of warmth.“Is it impolite if I go take a shower and change?” you asked, motioning to your travel outfit, a worn pair of sweatpants and an old T-shirt. You felt ridiculously underdressed for a party like this, your clothes inadequate for the occasion.
He chuckled, a fond smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. He kissed the top of your head, then nudged you toward the stairs. "Go on, don’t take too long."
You quickly excused yourself, sprinting toward your room. Your dad had definitely gone all out to surprise you; the room was spotless, everything neatly in place, just as you remembered. It was a comfort to see your space waiting for you, a small piece of familiarity in the chaos of the evening.
You threw your suitcase on the bed, quickly unzipping it and rummaging through the contents in search of something nice to wear. It didn't take long before you darted into the bathroom, the cool tile floor a relief after the heat of the day. You were the type who loved to take long showers, sometimes staying under the warm water until your dad had to yell from downstairs, complaining that he also needed hot water for his own shower.
Tonight, though, you needed to be quick. You didn’t want to keep everyone waiting too long, especially after they’d all come out to celebrate you. The trip had been exhausting, and while the time under the water was always soothing, you knew there was no time to indulge tonight. The warm water washed away the tension from your muscles, soothing the soreness from the weird position you'd managed to fall asleep in on the plane. You barely bothered to dry your hair, knowing the humid air outside would do the job quickly enough.
You grabbed the first sundress you had found, a simple white one that was light and breathable enough for the Texas heat. It wasn’t too fancy, but it was comfortable and easy, and right now, that was all that mattered.
You made your way back downstairs, already feeling more like yourself. The shower had worked wonders, and the light sundress helped you settle into the warm, familiar air of your childhood home.
Your dad spotted you first, his face lighting up again. He was mid-conversation with one of your aunts but paused as you approached. “There she is,” he said proudly, motioning for you to join them.
Your aunt greeted you with a warm hug, immediately launching into the usual questions—congratulations, how was school, what was next. You gave her a polite smile and nodded through the compliments, but when she asked about your future plans, a question you weren’t ready to answer, you skillfully deflected, asking her about her work, her garden, anything to shift the spotlight.
Your dad stepped in then, mercifully. “I didn’t even offer—do you want something to drink?”
“Sure,” you said, flashing a grateful smile at your aunt before following your dad toward the kitchen.
On the way there, you exchanged quick hellos and short hugs with a few familiar faces scattered through the living room. The noise of the party pulsed gently around you, music low, conversations layered, the clink of glasses in the background.
Once in the kitchen, your dad turned to you, hands already moving toward the fridge. “What’ll it be?” he asked.
“What are you offering?” you asked, leaning against the counter.
He opened the fridge. “Well, we’ve got enough beer to last us a few days,” he said with a grin. “Or, if you’re feeling bold, I could get you something stronger.” He nodded toward the assortment of bottles lined up neatly on the counter.
“A beer’s fine to start,” you replied, smiling.
Your dad handed you one, and you popped it open, ready to head back and rejoin the crowd. But just as you turned, you collided with something solid—someone, actually.
You stumbled a little, beer sloshing near the rim of the bottle, and barely had time to react before your dad’s voice cut in, cheerful and unaware of the tension that had just shifted the air.
“Joel! Wondered where you went!”
Your whole body tensed for a beat, instinctual and sharp. Of course. You took a quick step back, enough to finally look up and get a good look at the man you’d just bumped into.
Joel Miller, your dad’s best friend since the day he moved into the house next door. He stood there, looking down at you with that same gruff expression he always wore around you. Taller than you remembered. Broader, too. The kind of presence that filled the room without trying.
“Was just outside,” Joel said, his tone casual as his eyes slid right past you. “Came in for a new one,” he added, lifting his empty beer bottle like proof.
Your dad reached into the fridge and tossed him another without missing a beat. Joel caught it with practiced ease, cracking it open one-handed. Then, for the first time, he actually looked at you and at the matching bottle in your hand.
“Since when are you old enough to drink?” he asked, the words edged with something that wasn’t quite teasing.
You met his gaze, unimpressed, and took a slow sip before replying. “It’s been a while.” Your voice was flat, arms crossing over your chest.
The man had known you your whole life and somehow still looked at you like you were a surprise—and not a pleasant one.
The air between you bristled, charged with the same tension that had always simmered there. You didn’t like him. He didn’t like you. And neither of you bothered to pretend otherwise.
Joel turned away, launching straight into a conversation with your dad as if you weren’t even there. Like this wasn’t your party. Like none of this had anything to do with you.
Typical.
He’d never really cared about you, and he’d never made an effort to hide it. The bond between him and your dad had been instant, the kind of easy friendship built on shared interests you’d never been part of. Their jobs, fixing things, football and other stuff you’d always found boring or just flat-out irritating.
With you, Joel was different. Always had been. You weren’t part of the equation, just some brat he had to tolerate in order to spend time with your dad. He’d never been subtle about it either; rolling his eyes when you asked questions, sighing when you pushed his buttons, offering only the bare minimum in response when forced to talk to you.
You used to think he hated kids. But no—he just didn’t like you.
Which was fine, because you didn’t like him either. You tolerated him, because your dad liked him, but as you got older, you stopped pretending to be polite. If Joel couldn’t be bothered to try, then why should you? You rolled your eyes when he spoke, talked back when he got snippy. Your dad had always tried to get you to see the good in him, but you never did. And honestly, it didn’t really matter. Joel was just… there. Always hanging around whenever you came home, like part of the furniture : annoying, unavoidable, and easy to ignore.
You left them to their conversation, not bothering to hide your disinterest, and stepped outside to find people who actually enjoyed your presence. The scent of barbecue drifted through the air, warm and familiar, and your stomach growled as you grabbed a plate from the folding table piled with food.
Before long, you found yourself seated at a picnic table with a mix of childhood friends and cousins you hadn’t seen in ages. The conversation flowed easily, catching up, teasing each other, slipping back into old rhythms like no time had passed at all.
People came and went as the night wore on, stopping to hug you, offer congratulations, ask about school. You recognized a few of your dad’s work friends lingering on the patio, most of them clustered in the same spot: around your dad and, of course, Joel.
The conversations kept going, and so did the beers. You were genuinely grateful to whoever had stocked the fridge like they were prepping for the apocalypse, because no one was going easy on them, least of all you and your friends.
As the night wore on, people started saying their goodbyes. A few last hugs, warm smiles, and congratulations passed between you and the guests as they filtered out. You thanked them all, the praise and attention making your cheeks ache from smiling.
Eventually, only a handful of people remained—six or seven at most. You and your friends made up one little cluster, your dad and his made up the other. Joel, of course, was still right there with your father, like he’d just been absorbed into the foundation of the house itself.
When your last friend finally stood to leave, mumbling something about an early shift, you pouted dramatically. “You’re really gonna leave me here with them?” you whispered, tilting your head toward the older crowd.
She snorted, pulling you into one last hug. “You’ll survive. But in case it gets too hard…” She slipped something into your palm with a grin.
You looked down to see a neatly rolled joint nestled in your hand.
“Figured you haven’t had time to stock up yet. Consider it a graduation gift,” she said with a wink.
You stifled a laugh, hiding it quickly in your fist like a teenager. “You’re the best,” you whispered, pressing a kiss to her cheek.
“Don’t I know it,” she called over her shoulder as she disappeared into the night.
You watched her disappear down the driveway, then turned back toward the house, heading toward the patio where your dad and his friends were still gathered, half-lit by the string lights draped above.
“Goin’ to bed already?” your dad asked as you passed by, the buzz in his voice saying he hoped you’d stick around a little longer.
You smiled, still carefully cradling the joint in your closed hand. “Nope. Just takin’ a lap. Think I might’ve had one too many.”
Frank leaned back in his chair with a chuckle. “Can’t hold your beer, huh? Like daughter, like father.”
You shot him a grin, backing away into the house. “Give me five minutes and I’ll prove I can outdrink him.”
That got a round of laughter, your dad laughing loudest of all while his friends chimed in with mock protests and teasing.
You were a smoker—on and off. Mostly when you were stressed, or buzzed just enough not to care, like tonight. Your dad wasn’t—never had been—and you didn’t exactly feel like getting a lecture tonight. You just wanted a little more fun, to stretch the evening a bit longer.
So you slipped into the kitchen, quietly opening one cupboard, then another. You were hoping, maybe, some old forgotten lighter had been tossed in a drawer. A leftover from a guest. Anything. But no luck so far.
You didn’t hear the back door creak open. Didn’t notice the presence behind you until a low voice cut through the quiet.
“What are you doin’?”
You startled, spinning around. Joel stood a few steps inside, the kitchen light casting a warm line across his face. You must’ve looked caught like a teenager up to something, because his brow lifted in that way of his. That silent judgment.
Normally, he wouldn’t have cared. Would’ve walked right past you without so much as a glance. But not tonight.
He moved to the fridge, opened it like he’d done it a thousand times—which, to be fair, he had—and grabbed a beer. ““What’re you diggin’ through drawers for like that?”’
“Nothing,” you said, crossing your arms like a shield.
He cracked the cap off with one hand, took a long pull, then looked you over again. “Nothin’, huh.”
His voice was skeptical, casual in that way that always grated on your nerves. He didn’t believe you. That much was obvious in the way he leaned back against the counter and just... looked. Waiting.
The stare stretched long between you, hot and heavy like the Texas summer outside.
You didn’t look away. Just stood there, jaw tight, staring back. The message was clear in your eyes:
Why the hell are you still here?
You didn’t want to be the first to break, to move, to let him think he’d gotten under your skin. But at some point, your patience thinned, you just wanted to smoke and unwind. So you walked past him, your every step saying I’m done with this.
You didn’t bother hiding the way your shoulder brushed his slightly on the way out. Didn’t mask the glare you shot up at him as he looked down at you, still leaning there like he owned the place.
You didn’t speak. Didn’t offer a word. Just walked out of the kitchen, your footsteps solid on the hardwood as you made your way to the stairs.
You didn’t look back, but you could feel his eyes on you, lingering, sharp as ever, watching you disappear.
Once in your room, jaw tight and heart still a little too fast, you dropped to your knees by your bag. You were annoyed—annoyed at him, at the whole damn moment—and all you wanted was the comfort of a quiet high. You unzipped the front pocket, fingers digging past receipts and pens, and there it was.
The lighter.
Right where you needed it.
You walked down the stairs slowly, careful with each step, not wanting to draw any attention—especially not from Joel. If he was still brooding in that damn kitchen, you had no interest in crossing paths again.
A quick glance confirmed the coast was clear. No voices. No movement. You slipped through the front door without a sound.
Outside, the night wrapped around you in a warm hush. The air was thick with leftover summer heat, cicadas buzzing low in the distance. You made your way to the old oak tree, the one that had watched over you since childhood, and slid down with your back against its trunk.
The joint was still in your hand, slightly bent from your grip. You brought it to your lips and flicked the lighter you’d grabbed from your bag upstairs.
Nothing.
You tried again. Pressed harder.
Still nothing.
“Fucking really,” you muttered under your breath, jaw clenching as you stared down at the useless plastic.
You shook the lighter, flicked it again, and like a gift from someone above, a blessed spark appeared long enough for you to light your joint. You inhaled, slow and satisfied, the burn calming, the quiet of the night wrapping around you like a weighted blanket.
Then, a voice cut through it.
“You serious right now?”
Your eyes flew open mid-exhale. Joel.
He stood at the edge of the porch, arms crossed over his chest, face shadowed—but the tone was all too clear. Disapproval, plain as day.
You coughed lightly, caught off guard, waving a hand like you could erase the smoke between you. “Jesus, do you ever make a sound when you walk?”
“Didn’t think I needed to,” he said, stepping off the porch, boots crunching against the grass as he came closer. “Didn’t figure I’d catch you hidin’ out here like a damn teenager.”
“Not a teenager anymore,” you shot back, trying to steady yourself, annoyed by the interruption.
“You sure? Then why are you smokin' here, hidin' from your daddy?” he asked, his tone low, judgment lacing the words.
“Can’t I just want a moment to myself?” you retorted, holding his gaze steady as you took another hit.
Joel didn’t answer right away. Just stood there, arms crossed, eyes flicking down to the joint between your fingers. The judgment was all over his face. If a cigarette would've earned you a lecture from your dad, this? This would light a fuse.
But you didn’t hide it. You didn’t even flinch. Hiding it would’ve meant guilt. It would’ve meant Joel won.
And you weren’t giving him that.
He huffed through his nose, like he couldn’t believe you had the nerve, but wasn’t surprised either. “Y’know he’s gonna smell it the second he steps outside,” he muttered.
“Then maybe he shouldn’t step outside,” you said calmly, shrugging as you brought the joint back to your lips.
“You never admit when you’re in the wrong, do you?” he snapped back, his tone clipped. Joel didn’t like getting talked back to—especially not by you.
You stood up, brushing grass from your dress, chin lifting as you squared up to him.
“Oh my god, Joel. It’s one joint. I’m not twelve anymore,” you said, voice rising with each word. “I drink. I smoke. I do a lot of things.”
That made him pause. His eyes locked on yours, and for a second, it looked like he might ask what exactly those "things" were. You saw it, the curiosity, judgment, maybe even a flicker of something else, but he bit it back, jaw clenched.
“Let’s not pretend you’re some saint who’s never touched a joint in your life. Or worse,” you added, eyes narrowing. “We both know that’s not true.”
He took a step closer, slow and sure like he always moved, and before you could react—before you could even take another inhale—his hand reached out. Quick. Firm. He plucked the joint from between your fingers like it was his.
“What the hell—” you started, already ready to snap, but the words caught in your throat when instead of lecturing you, instead of crushing it under his boot like you half-expected, he brought it to his own mouth.
Joel inhaled. Long, steady. The ember flared, lighting up the edges of his face; the hard line of his jaw, the crease in his brow, the scar on his temple..
He stood there, smoke curling from his lips, his eyes half-lidded as he brought a hand up to run through his hair like the weight of the night had finally sunk into his bones. There was more gray than you remembered. At his temples. Scattered through the strands like dust on old wood. He looked… older. In a good way.
You blinked hard. You didn’t want to notice things like that, not about Joel.
“Never seen you smoke before,” you said, trying to cut through the strange haze between you.
“That’s ‘cause I know how not to get caught,” he muttered, taking another pull. Calm. Unbothered.
You scoffed. “Oh, so you’re hiding too? What, scared my daddy’s gonna ground you?”
That pulled the faintest twitch at the corner of his mouth. Not a smile, exactly, but close enough to spark something sharp in your chest.
“You’re gettin’ old, you know that?” you said, letting it land like a tease, but there was an edge to it.
He tilted his head, gaze pinning you in place. “Am I now?” he said, voice low, thick with that familiar southern drawl—like honey and gravel. He stepped in just enough that you caught the scent of smoke and the heat from his skin. “Funny, comin’ from the girl sneakin’ off like she’s still seventeen.”
You rolled your eyes. You were starting to think this might be the longest conversation you’d ever had with him.
You reached out, palm up. “You gonna give it back?”
Joel didn’t answer. Not with words.
Instead, he stepped forward—close. Too close. The air shifted instantly, thick with something that wasn’t just smoke or summer heat. His hand lifted, steady, unhurried. And without asking, without a word, he pressed the joint back between your lips.
Your breath hitched. Not just from the inhale—but from him.
His fingers brushed your lower lip slowly. Not an accident. Not rushed. Just enough to leave heat in their wake.
You stared up at him, lips parted slightly around the joint. Your heart beat too loud in your chest, but your body stayed still.
He didn’t look away.
Didn’t blink. Didn’t move.
His gaze locked on yours, heavy and unreadable, like he was waiting. Like he was daring you to break the silence first.
But for once, you didn’t.
You took a slow drag. Held it. Exhaled—right between the two of you.
And still, neither of you moved. Joel held your gaze for one long second more.
Then, like a switch flipped, he stepped back, just a half-step, but it felt like miles. The heat between you cooled instantly, and when he spoke again, his voice had that old, familiar edge.
“Well,” Joel said, his eyes flicking over you with that familiar, judgmental gaze, “didn’t even last a day before you were back to your old tricks.”
The words landed sharp, biting in that casual, offhand way only he could manage. Like everything you did was somehow a little wrong, a little too much..
And just like that, there he was—that Joel. The one who couldn’t help but offer a comment about everything. The one who never missed a chance to nitpick, to point out what you were doing wrong.
You scoffed, jaw tight. “There he is,” you muttered, dragging on the joint, blowing out a thick plume of smoke. “Was wondering how long it’d take for the real Joel to show up.”
He raised an eyebrow, his voice low and sharp. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
You took another hit, your thoughts swirling for a moment. You could just let him go, ignore him like you had countless times before. But no, he had to make that damn snarky comment, didn’t he?
You turned to him, the frustration boiling over, and before you could stop yourself, the words came sharp. You stepped in, jabbing a finger into his chest, hard. “Always so fucking rude to me. What the hell did I ever do to you?” He stiffened at your words, clearly not expecting the bite behind them. You poked him again, harder this time. “You never said anything nice to me, never even looked at me like I was a person. Just a damn inconvenience in the way of your ‘good time’ with my dad. So tell me, what did I do to deserve that, huh?”
Joel’s hand shot out, grabbing your wrist before your finger could make contact again. His grip was tight, not painful, but enough to stop you in your tracks. His eyes—those goddamn eyes—narrowed as he looked down at you, frustration boiling behind them.
“Come on,” he said, voice low and cutting. “You really wanted me to coddle you? Like your dad does—pretendin' you don’t make everything harder than it has to be?” He laughed once, bitter and short. “You’ve been a storm since the day I met you. You’ve been acting out your whole damn life, never grateful, always pushing. What, you think that deserves kindness?” He stepped in closer, the distance between you shrinking, his breath warm against your skin. “I’m not your dad, sweetheart. I don’t have to pretend to care. And I sure as hell didn’t have to put up with you when you couldn’t even take care of yourself. You think I wanted to deal with you?” He gave you a smirk, as if the very thought was laughable.
The bitterness in his voice cut through you like a knife, the words searing with years of unspoken resentment. Maybe you had been a pain in the ass as a kid, always causing trouble, always pushing boundaries. But you were a kid. Yes, your dad worked himself to the bone to provide for you, and you were left trying to figure it out on your own.
You looked up at him, jaw clenched, trying to hold on to the anger that was threatening to slip away.
“You think I asked for any of this?” you snapped back, your voice dripping with contempt. “I didn’t ask for you to come around, either. You think I wanted to be stuck between you and my dad, always the damn inconvenience? Maybe I was just trying to figure out my own damn life. Maybe I didn’t need someone like you breathing down my neck every time I fucked up.”
His eyes flashed at that, but he didn’t move. Didn’t back away.
"Was I just a disappointment to you, then? Is that it?" you spat out, the question lingering in the cold air between you two.
“No,” Joel replied, his voice hard but low, like he was forcing the words through clenched teeth. “You never disappointed me, kid. You were always exactly who I expected you to be.”
It hit you harder than it should have. Those words stung, but you didn’t let it show. You fought to keep your composure, to hold onto that anger that had been building in your chest. You weren’t going to give him the satisfaction of seeing how much it hurt.
You yanked your wrist from his grip, the heat of his touch still burning into your skin. “Fuck you, Joel,” you muttered, the words biting as they left your lips. You didn’t give him a second glance as you turned and walked toward the front porch, the weight of his gaze heavy on your back.
The joint had stopped burning, but you didn’t care anymore as you threw it away. You needed a moment to breathe. You went straight to the bathroom, splashing some cold water on your face to shake off the heat of the argument. You stared at yourself in the mirror, frustration building inside you. Fuck him, you thought. Fuck him.
You spritzed some perfume, just in case the lingering scent gave you away, and then walked back down the stairs, your steps purposeful and steady. In the kitchen, you opened the fridge, but it was the bottles on the counter that called to you. You didn’t bother with the beer. Instead, you grabbed whatever whiskey was within reach, pouring yourself a drink and letting the burn settle in your chest.
You walked back toward the backyard, taking slow steps as you made your way to the patio. Your dad was deep in conversation with Frank and Bill, laughing lightly at something one of them had said. When he saw you, his face lit up with a smile.
“I thought you wouldn’t come back,” he said, his voice warm.
“I said I would,” you replied, offering him a small smile that didn’t quite reach your eyes. You didn’t feel like explaining much right now.
You found a chair around the table, making sure to settle yourself just far enough from your dad. You didn’t want him to notice anything—the lingering scent or the storm still brewing in your mind. There was no need for him to ask, and no need to bring it up.
Joel wasn’t around the table, and part of you felt a little relief. Maybe he was already on his way home, back to wherever he belonged. But, as if summoned by your thoughts, there he was, appearing from the same way you had come.
"Thought you forgot where the bathroom was," your father teased as Joel slid into the empty chair across from you.
"Not that drunk," Joel muttered, a little too casually, his eyes flicking over to you like he was trying to catch your gaze. But you didn't bite. Instead, you focused on Bill next to you, making small talk, pretending not to notice the tension building in the air.
Your father’s attention shifted to your drink. "Didn't expect you to be a whiskey girl," he remarked with a smile, eyebrows raised.
You shrugged, taking another sip. "It's nice," you replied, your voice nonchalant, though the warmth of the alcohol barely did anything to calm you.
Your father patted you on the shoulder. "Well, finally, something you’ve got in common with Joel, huh? He’s the one who brought it, you know." He looked over at Joel, pride edging his voice. "You should see his collection," he continued, clearly pleased with the fact that you two could now bond over something.
You kept your eyes on your glass, trying to avoid the sharp edge of Joel’s stare, but it didn't escape you—the way your father was so eager to find common ground, any excuse to connect you with Joel. You gave your dad a small, practised smile enough to ease his attention off you. But your eyes caught Joel’s across the table.
He was staring.
Not in the careless, absent way people sometimes do when lost in thought. Joel was watching you, steady, unreadable, like he hadn’t stopped since he sat down. Like the words you’d thrown at him earlier were still echoing somewhere behind his eyes.
You tilted your head just slightly, a silent question or maybe a challenge as you took a slow sip of your drink. His gaze didn’t flinch.
If anything, it sharpened.
Frank leaned forward slightly, swirling the wine in his glass. “So,” he said, glancing at you with a friendly grin, “Happy to be finished with school ?”
You nodded, taking a sip. “Yeah, finally..”
“Damn, time flies,” Bill said, impressed. “Feels like we were just talkin’ about you leavin’. What’d you end up majoring in?”
“Communications,” you said, voice light. “Which is code for ‘I still don’t know what I’m doing with my life.’”
That got a laugh from Frank. “Well, join the club. Took me years to figure out what I wanted, and even then, I changed my mind half a dozen times.”
Your dad beamed quietly, pride flickering behind his eyes. “She’s smart,” he said. “Always has been. Stubborn as hell, but smart.”
You gave him a small smile, choosing not to argue.
“So what about work?” Bill asked. “You stayin’ around here, or just visiting?”
You hesitated for a moment. “I don’t know yet. Thought I’d come back, take a breath before jumping into anything serious.”
There was a pause, and then Frank grinned. “And anyone special back at school—or here—giving you a reason to stay?”
You raised your eyebrows and laughed under your breath, deflecting with a sip of your drink. “Jesus, Frank.”
He held up his hands, grinning. “What? Can’t ask a question?”
Your dad chimed in, playing along. “Hey, pretend I’m not here if it helps.”
You laughed, relaxed. You didn’t mind your dad. The two of you had gotten close, especially in those past years, separated by college. If there had been anyone serious, he’d probably already know.
“No one worth mentioning,” you said after a moment, flicking your eyes back to Frank. “Just me for now.”
Frank gave you a look, all charm and teasing. “I don’t buy that for a second. Pretty thing like you? I bet you left a trail of broken hearts in Chicago.”
You let out a soft laugh, tucking a strand of hair behind your ear. “Eh,” you said lightly, the smile not quite reaching your eyes, “disappointment’s kind of my thing, apparently,” you said, smiling just enough to pass it off as a joke.
Your dad chuckled, clearly not reading the undercurrent. “You? Please. You’re doing just fine.”
But Joel—he wasn’t laughing. He stopped mid-sip, his eyes fixed on you over the rim of his glass. His gaze was sharp, piercing, the silent understanding hanging between you like a weight.
You didn’t acknowledge him. You didn’t have to. You knew he heard it.
You kept the conversation going with Frank, though his words were starting to blur as the alcohol made him a bit more loose-lipped than usual. Bill, ever the more sober one, finally pointed out that it was time for them to head out. Frank, clearly one glass of wine too many, was a little wobbly on his feet, but that didn’t stop him from giving you his signature ruffle on the head. You rolled your eyes, but couldn’t suppress the smile that tugged at your lips.
“You’re gonna find someone who sees you for who you are, kid,” Frank slurred, his voice filled with an odd mix of affection and drunken sincerity. “You’re too smart, too pretty, not to," Frank said, his voice a little louder than necessary as he nudged you with a playful grin. “Ain’t she, Joel?”
Joel, who had been deep in conversation with your dad, looked up, clearly caught off guard by Frank’s question. "What?"
“She’s pretty, don’t you think?”
You raised an eyebrow, already anticipating the awkwardness that would follow. Frank was a little tipsy, but you knew he didn’t mean any harm. It was just Frank being Frank.
You half-expected Joel to brush it off, mutter something gruff, or look away entirely—anything to avoid the attention. But instead, he met your gaze briefly, his eyes looking you up just for a second, before shifting back to Frank.
“Very pretty,” Joel said quietly, the words not quite as reluctant this time. It was almost as if he couldn’t help it, like Frank’s teasing had pulled it out of him.
“See?” Frank said, giving Joel a playful shove, not realising the undercurrent of tension in the air. “Even Joel says so!”
Joel’s shoulders stiffened slightly, but he didn’t say anything more.
Frank and Bill left, their goodbyes echoing softly as they promised to invite you and your dad for dinner soon. You stayed outside as your dad continued his conversation with Joel about the upcoming game and who was going to host it. The voices of the two men blended into background noise, the hum of the conversation barely registering in your mind. You were half-listening, half-distracted, your thoughts lingering on the anger you’d been holding onto all night.
The burn of the whisky slid down your throat, and without even realizing it, your eyes found Joel. You were still mad at him, the words he’d spoken earlier lodged under your skin. It stung in a way that made it harder to push away. Normally, you would’ve brushed it off, moved on, but tonight, his words had managed to hit deeper than usual. And for some reason, it bothered you more than you were willing to admit.
At first, you looked at him with nothing but irritation, your gaze sharp, unforgiving. The way he leaned back in his chair, so at ease after everything he’d said—it grated on you. But then, without meaning to, your eyes lingered. You noticed how the patio light caught the strands of gray in his hair, more than you remembered. The lines around his eyes were deeper now, the rough stubble along his jaw peppered with silver. And yet, somehow, it suited him. He looked… good. Annoyingly so. That solid kind of good that didn’t come from trying. The kind that made some of your dad’s female friends earlier laugh too loud at his jokes and linger a little too long near wherever he stood.
He shouldn’t have looked good. Not after the shit he said. Not after the way he always made you feel small and in the way.
And then, as if he could feel the weight of your gaze, his eyes found yours.
You hesitated for a second, but didn’t look away. You couldn’t. Not this time. You weren’t going to let him think he had any power over you. Not now. Not ever again.
He held your gaze, serious now, almost as if he was silently asking you what the hell you were looking at. It was like a challenge, an invitation for you to either break or keep going. But you didn’t flinch, didn’t break the connection.
Your dad, oblivious as ever, continued tidying up the table, clearing away the bottles, while he kept talking to Joel. But you didn’t shift your focus. And so, knowing damn well he was watching, a strange boldness crept in, aided by the drinks you’d had. You let your eyes trace him—across his chest, his hands, then slowly, almost instinctively, to his lips.
You took a slow sip of your drink, letting the tension hang in the air, lingering just enough on his lips for him to feel the weight of it. Then, you lifted your gaze back up to his. You saw the way his brows furrowed for a second, his eyes narrowing as if trying to make sense of what you were doing.
In that instant, your dad clapped his hands, breaking the tense silence between you and Joel. Both of you snapped your gaze away, turning towards him.
"I'm busted," he said with a grin, clearly oblivious to the quiet storm that had just passed between the two of you. "I think it's time for me to go to bed. What about you two?"
You raised your drink to him, trying to mask the lingering heat in your chest. "Gonna finish this first, then I'll crash too," you said, voice calm, though your mind was anything but.
Your dad chuckled, giving you a playful look. “Whiskey, huh? Careful, it goes under your skin quickly.” He glanced at Joel, raising an eyebrow. “What about you?”
“I’ll finish my drink too and go,” Joel replied, his voice steady.
Your dad nodded, then walked over to you, pressing a soft kiss to your hair. “So glad you’re here,” he said warmly. You squeezed his hand, smiling up at him, before waving as he turned to head back inside. As he passed Joel, he gave him a friendly pat on the shoulder.
And just like that, the two of you were alone again. Your eyes drifted to the door your dad had disappeared through… then back to Joel—only to find him already watching you.
“It’s rude to stare,” he said casually, but that familiar edge was there—like he was already halfway into a fight.
You scoffed, lifting your glass. “Funny, coming from you.”
Joel raised a brow, slow and deliberate. “What’re you tryin’ to say?”
You didn’t flinch. “That you’ve been staring at me all night. Like you’re tryin’ to set me on fire.”
He took a long sip, unfazed. “And why the hell would I wanna do that?”
You shrugged. “You’re the one who keeps acting like I’m a pain in your ass.”
Joel gave a low, humorless laugh. “Darlin’, you are. Don’t mean I gotta kill you for it.”
You leaned back, a smirk tugging at your lips despite yourself, the word darlin’ echoing like heat under your skin. “How kind of you.. So what do I owe this stare? Full of love and all,” you added, letting the word drag with thick sarcasm.
Joel scoffed, but his eyes didn’t leave yours. “Love ain’t exactly the word I’d use.”
“Mm,” you hummed, tilting your head. “Could’ve fooled me.”
He lifted his glass, took another long sip, then set it down with a soft clink—clear as day he was ending the conversation. Funny how he’d been the one to start this fight, but didn’t want to finish it. You couldn’t help the laugh that slipped out; pushing his buttons was too tempting to resist.
“Am I really that pretty?” you pressed, leaning forward, voice low. “Is that it? Enough to make you unable to look away?”
You saw the way his jaw twitched before he met your gaze again, his eyes darker than before. In the past, that little tell would’ve tipped you off and you’d have backed down, let him off the hook. But tonight, you didn’t care. If he couldn’t find the decency to be kind, why should you?
“Not gonna answer?” you teased, your voice soft but edged. You lifted the glass in a salute, then drained the last drop.
“Careful.” His voice was low, dangerous and it made your stomach tighten.
“Or what, Miller?” you shot back, setting your empty glass on the table. “Gonna ground me? You’re not my dad, remember.”
With those words, you stood, smoothing the hem of your dress. For a heartbeat, you saw his gaze drop to your bare leg—just a glance—before snapping back up to yours.
“Always gotta be smart, don’t ya?” he called after you, voice rough as you stepped toward the door.
You stopped mid-step, one hand on the doorframe, and turned back. The patio light caught your face just right. Arms crossed, you gave him a small, mocking smile. “Oh, so I’m smart now?” you snapped, tone brittle with sarcasm. “Pretty and smart—what’s gotten into you, Joel? Running out of insults?”
Joel didn’t miss a beat. He leaned forward, elbows on his knees, his eyes hard. “Don’t push your luck,” he said, his voice low and dry. “I said you were smart, not that you stopped bein’ a brat.”
“Oh, right,” you scoffed. “Because you’re the king of saying exactly what you mean. Never cryptic, never cruel, never hiding behind that goddamn scowl.”
He stood then, slow and careful, his glass forgotten on the table behind him. His height always had a way of pressing down on a room, and now, with only the patio light casting long shadows between you, he felt even closer than he was.
“You done?” he asked, low and tight.
“No,” you snapped, taking a step toward him without even thinking. Your heart thudded hard in your chest, but you didn’t let it show. “You’ve been staring at me all night like I’m something stuck to your damn boot, but God forbid I look back. You start shit, and then when I give it back, suddenly I’m the one who’s too much?”
Joel didn’t flinch, didn’t move at first—but you saw it in his jaw, the way it clenched, the way his fingers flexed at his sides like he was holding something in.
He stepped toward you, and the space between you narrowed into something heavy, your skin prickling with heat, not entirely from anger. His voice dropped, rough and controlled, but far from calm.
“Does that mouth ever do somethin’ other than complain?”
The words hit like a slap, and a dare. The way he said it, slow, his voice coiled tight with something darker, something heavier, made your pulse jump.
Your breath caught, not from fear, but from the sudden pulse of heat that curled low in your stomach. Maybe it was the whiskey still humming through your veins, the warmth of it making you bold, reckless. Sober, you never would’ve said what came next.
You looked up at him, stepping in just enough that you could feel the heat radiating off his body, the space between you now little more than a breath; eyes fixed on his, daring. “Why?” you said, voice low and steady. “You want my mouth to do something else?”
Joel didn’t hesitate. His fingers came up, rough and warm, catching your chin between his thumb and forefinger, firm, not gentle. He tilted your face up, forcing you to meet his eyes.
“You wanna play like that, kid?” he muttered, the word kid sounding more like a warning than an insult. “Keep talkin’ like you know what you’re askin' for.”
The word echoed in your head—not just what he said, but how he said it. Low, rough, like gravel under pressure. He didn’t flinch. Didn’t blink. Just stared, like he was waiting to see if you’d flinch first. Your heart kicked harder against your ribs. You should’ve backed off. Maybe any other night, you would’ve. But the way he was looking at you, like you were the last line he hadn’t crossed, made your mouth move before your brain could stop it.
“Not scared of you,” you said, but the words came out softer than you meant them to.
He leaned in closer, just a breath away, the porch light casting deep shadows over his face. “You should be,” he paused, his eyes dark. ”Get on your knees.”
Your breath hitched at his words, the patio suddenly too quiet. For a second, you weren’t sure you’d heard him right. The heat that rushed between your legs, however, confirmed that you had.
“What?” you asked, your voice a little breathless.
Joel didn’t blink. His gaze stayed locked on yours, unmoving, unreadable. “You heard me, girl,” he said, voice rough, low.
You should have backed off. You knew that. It was Joel, for crying out loud. The one you couldn’t stand. He was your dad’s best friend, your least favourite person in the world. The guy who made you feel small with every sharp word, every lingering glance.
And yet, you sank to your knees. The hand that cupped your chin went to the top of your head, guiding your descent. Joel’s breath became more rugged as you did, never leaving your eyes.
Your knees fell on the cold patio floor, but you didn't care. Joel's gaze was intense, unreadable, yet unmistakably focused on you. His eyes locked onto yours, steady and unwavering, as if he was trying to see right through you. You feel the weight of it pressing in on you, challenging you to see how far you were willing to go.
You didn't want to back down. You looked in front of you, his crotch right there. Your hands quickly moved to unbutton his dark jeans, making them fall to the ground. He was already hard, the fabric straining against his thickness, precum staining the front of his boxer, leaving a print that made your mouth salivate a little more than it should.
Joel was big, of course he was. Broad shoulders, large hands, big cock. It made sense. You would be lying if you said you’d never thought about it. After all, Joel Miller was the better-looking of your dad’s friends. He just happened to be the most annoying.
You brought your mouth closer, letting Joel feel your hot breath on his cock. His hand was still in your hair, a little tug inviting you closer, wordless but clear. Your hand rested on the waistband of his boxer, not taking it off just yet. You could see a bit of his happy trail, his dark hairs inviting you to explore more of his body. You pressed your lips into a small kiss where you could see the print of his tip, earning you a low, guttural groan from Joel. The sound was exquisite, and you already wanted to hear it again. So you pressed a few more kisses, relishing in the small noises he was making. You couldn’t wait to take him in your mouth.
Finally, you took down his boxer, and his throbbing cock stood in front of you. Large, thick. perfect. You swallowed a gasp, realising you’ve never taken one so big in your mouth — or anywhere else for that matter. It only made it more enticing. You looked up to Joel, who had his eyes on you. Waiting, hungry, and he looked way too good in that instant. It made you feel things you didn’t want to think about Joel. Made you want to take a hand between your thighs and deal with the heat that had been pulsing all evening. But later. Now you only wanted to focus on him.
One hand on his thigh, the other finding the base of his length, you looked at him one more time before opening your mouth. Slowly, teasingly, you licked his tip, tasting the glistening precum off him. Salty. Musky. Joel. Then, you pressed your lips around his length, the warmth of your mouth making the man grunt. Knowing you were the one making him moan like this was exhilarating. Powerful even. The need to hear this sound again pushed you to take more of him, inch by inch. You started a steady rhyme, your mouth so full — and you hadn't taken all of him yet.
Joel let out a guttural moan, his hand pushing you further down his length as he thrusted his hips up slightly into your warm, wet mouth. You dared look up to him and saw how his head tilted backwards, the hand that wasn't in your hair on the table behind him, keeping him steady. Fuck, he looked so good and you were the one doing that to him. You clenched your thighs together, feeling a wetness you couldn't take care of right now.
“Fuck, darlin'…” he groaned, his calloused fingers tightening their grip on your head when you took him a bit deeper, hitting the bak of your throat. The pet name made you moan around his cock without you even realising, the sound vibrating around his cock.
At that, Joel looked down at you, a slow, smug smile spreading across his face. Your nose pressed agasint the base of his cock, your throat bulging obscenely with his girth.
“You like it, don’t you? Choking on my dick like that ?” He asks, his voice rough, almost breathless. His eyes darkened with something primal, something hungry, and it sent a shiver down your spine so sharp it left your skin buzzing. You nodded on his cock without even realizing. “Of course you fucking do, you mouthy little thing.”
He started to thrust harder, faster, driven by the thrill of having you here, worshipping his cock like it was your sole purpose. You had sucked dick before, sure. It was something you enjoyed, making your partner come undone with only your mouth. College had been the right place to experience it, but you never had your throat fucked like that. And you liked it more than you thought was possible.
“You take me so good, baby, “ Joel praises you, his voice heavy, taking in the sight of you, the way you are so eager on his cock, and the feeling shouldn't feel so good. You looked up at him, your eyes, your lips stretching around him, your eyes watering slightly as you take him as deep as you can. “F-fuck…” he curses, his breath ragged, as he watches himself disappear inside you inch by inch.“Gonna make me cum doin’ that. Are you gonna be perfect for me and swallow like a good girl ?”
The answer came in the way of a whimper you couldn’t stop, causing Joel to chuckle darkly as an acknowledgement. He picks up the pace and, with a final, hard thrust, Joel buries himself deep in your throat, coming in a strangled moan that sounds very much like your name.
And so there you were: knees on the cold patio floor of your dad’s house, lips still tingling and your mouth full of cum. Joel Miller, the man you despised, was standing in front of you, his chest rising with rough, uneven breaths. His hand was still tangled in your hair, idly, almost possessively, like he hadn’t decided to let go yet. He looked down at you, and you swallowed under the weight of his gaze. His eyes dragging over your mouth, down your throat, and finally meeting yours again, his breathing just beginning to steady. Then, he loosened his grip in your hair, allowing you to move from him, a strand of cum and saliva connecting your swollen lips to the tip of his softening cock. The sight of you—lips parted, breath shaky, eyes still wide—made Joel chuckle, low and dark. There was no humor in it, not really. Just heat. Satisfaction.
He helped you back up, his touch steady, almost too gentle after everything. You wobbled for a moment, heart still racing, and smoothed your dress with shaky fingers, eyes avoiding his like they might burn. The silence was deafening as he pulled back his clothes. You couldn’t even look at him, not really, not with the feel of his dick still lingering in your mouth, the taste of him still not gone. The air felt colder now. Or maybe it was you, sobering fast under the weight of everything that just happened.
But before you could say anything, his thumb slid over your lips once more. Just like earlier with the joint, but this time it wasn’t casual. This time it lingered, drawing a painfully slow line against your skin. His eyes were fixed on your mouth, dark with something primal, an intensity that made your breath hitch. It was like he could still feel you there, still feel the way you had taken him so well, so eager. And from the smug tilt of his lips, it was clear he liked it.
“Guess you can back up that mouth after all.”

♡ when dilf!rafe and bunny!reader first met
warnings: suggestive language
a/n: inspired by this gif — it’s soooo dilf!rafe and bunny coded, i just had to include it in so y’all could get my visual.. and also feel free to read more about dilf!rafe x housebunny!reader here ! leave req’s or discussion posts about them in my ask box, these two are one of my fav au’s to write for!!
sipping on an ice water, you hummed sweetly as the breeze from your little handheld fan blew gently through your hair, the chilly air providing you with some form of relief against the blazing outer banks sun. you had been out here on the golf course for about three hours now, the fanny pack hugging your hips already filled with crispy blue hundreds from the wealthy patrons of the country club. having met your money goal for the day, you decided a break was deemed necessary, considering you still had a few hours left until you were able to clock out.
it wasn’t until you spotted a group of men swinging their golf clubs far off in the distance, that you decided to make your way over there, plastering on your pretty smile that never failed to make the men empty their wallets to you. one of the men had turned around at the sound of the soft hum of the golf cart engine, the other two following suit as you stepped off, the zipper of your baby pink lululemon jacket zipped down just far enough to expose your cleavage and the dainty little tiffany and co. heart pendant on your necklace. “hi, there!” you chirped, “my goodness, everyone here looks like they can use a drink..”
at your flirtatious tone, the guys exchanged suggestive looks with each other before a certain one with cerulean eyes caught your attention. he gave you a once over, his jaw clenching as you bent over to grab the flavored liqueurs you had in stock. he was so tall, his broad shoulders alone made your imagination run wild as you pictured your nails digging into his flesh, his sharp facial features causing an influx of butterflies to flutter in your tummy. “you’re a lifesaver, bunny.” topper, the man you recognized from yesterday, was quick to give you his drink order, both of you making small talk as rafe watched you intently.
he waited until kelce and topper disappeared back to their original spots before finally towering over you, a surprised gasp leaving your lips when you turned around and found yourself face to face with the man you shamelessly imagined yourself getting fucked by. “i’ve never seen you around here before.” his voice was low as he spoke, almost as if he knew what you were thinking and he was teasing you for it. “this is my second day on the course..” you trailed off, your cheeks heating as the space between you two lessened. rafe loved seeing how nervous you grew under his stare, a smug grin gracing his lips as you lifted your head to meet his gaze.
“how’s it going?” he adjusted the cap on his head, the gold ring on his index finger glinting underneath the sunlight. despite making really good money at the country club, you knew this job wasn’t something you could see yourself doing long term. “it’s alright.. it wasn’t my first choice but it’s funding my shopping sprees so far, sooo.. good enough!” at the mention of shopping sprees, rafe cleared his throat. “what was your first choice?” he asked, taking a sip from the alcohol in his cup as you started twirling the ends of your hair. “well, i was nannying on the mainland, so i was hoping to do the same thing when i decided to move here, but i just haven’t had much luck..”
it was like a lightbulb went off in rafe’s head, his eyes flickering down to your glossy lips. “no, shit? you know your way around a house?” you nodded, your lashes fluttering up at him as he decided right then and there that you were going to go home with him. “my son is actually out of the house right now for school, but i would love to have someone there to maintain things for me.. maybe even meal prep or just have dinner ready for me when i get home from work?” you smiled sweetly, looking past him to see topper and kelce already packing up their equipment. “i would love to do that for you.” that statement was like music to rafe’s ears.
“yeah? can you start right now?” you gasped when rafe took your wrist, spinning you around so his frontside was completely flushed against your ass. making sure the guys were gone, and there was no one else around to see you two in this compromising position, rafe rested his chin in the curve of your neck before whispering in your ear. “you’re the prettiest fuckin’ thing i’ve ever seen.” his hand snaked around your waist, a shiver running down your spine as he slipped his fingers underneath your skirt and cupped you just in time for you to reach back and palm him through his pants.
“let’s get out of here, i’ll give you a house tour once i’m done breaking you in.”

¹¹⁵⁾ “you have many strengths; all i’m saying is that parallel parking is not one of them.”
¹¹⁶⁾ “let me drive you home.”
¹¹⁷⁾ “thanks for bringing me in on this ritual of yours.”
¹¹⁸⁾ “what time do you have to be at court?”
¹¹⁹⁾ “do you, uh- do you maybe wanna get dinner, sometime? like, with me?”
¹²⁰⁾ “i’m- *achoo* a-allergic to one kind of- *achoo* of flowers in the whole world, and you- *cough* really m-manage to pick them out for me?”
¹²¹⁾ “table for three, please.”
¹²²⁾ “you’re getting so grey. i’m kind of liking it.”
¹²³⁾ “of course i noticed.”
¹²⁴⁾ “hey, quit forcing yourself to talk before you lose your voice altogether.”
¹²⁵⁾ “please, please wake up.”
¹²⁶⁾ “was anything you said true?”
¹²⁷⁾ “get in the fucking car!”
¹²⁸⁾ “where’d you get that?”
¹²⁹⁾ “you put me through so much, and still all i can think about is how i’d do it all again if you asked me to.”
¹³⁰⁾ “i’ll stay while you sleep. nothing’s gonna happen while i’m here, okay?”
¹³¹⁾ “you said you wanted to talk it out but all you’re doing is shouting at me!”
¹³²⁾ “we broke up a few days ago. i guess i was too embarrassed to tell you after you warned me about them.”
¹³³⁾ “family don’t pull this kind of shit on each other.”
¹³⁴⁾ “i phoned in sick. i’m yours for the day, if you’ll have me.”
¹³⁵⁾ “i’ll make the reservation, you just worry about turning up looking half as good as you do right now.”
¹³⁶⁾ “that’s still how you take your tea, isn’t it?”
¹³⁷⁾ “stop throwing those damn paper planes at me!”
¹³⁸⁾ “i’m so c-cold.”
¹³⁹⁾ “… i can hear meowing.”
¹⁴⁰⁾ “want some?”
¹⁴¹⁾ “fuck all of them, anyway.”
¹⁴²⁾ “i could look at your tattoos all day.”
¹⁴³⁾ “ever considered sending me flowers without a keycard for a hotel room tucked inside?”
¹⁴⁴⁾ “i made coffee.”
¹⁴⁵⁾ “c’mon, sit with me a minute.”
¹⁴⁶⁾ “fuck, they’re gonna flank us- get someone on the south wall, now!”
¹⁴⁷⁾ “christ, get up.”
¹⁴⁸⁾ “put some pants on.”
¹⁴⁹⁾ “it’s over!”
¹⁵⁰⁾ “not another broken bed frame.”
¹⁵¹⁾ “that thong really brings out your eyes.”
¹⁵²⁾ “you’ve already stolen from me; don’t twist the knife by lying about it, too.”
¹⁵³⁾ “... i thought you locked the back door.”
¹⁵⁴⁾ “they were saying awful things about you. every last one of them had it coming.”
¹⁵⁵⁾ “so you had a can of monster and a pack of sour patch kids for breakfast eight hours ago, and you really don’t understand why you have a headache?”
¹⁵⁶⁾ “i think someone’s in the house.”
¹⁵⁷⁾ “walk me home?”
¹⁵⁸⁾ “this song reminds me of you.”
¹⁵⁹⁾ “can you pick up some eggs on your way home?”
¹⁶⁰⁾ “i’ve got a flat tire.”
¹⁶¹⁾ “you broke his fucking nose!”
¹⁶²⁾ “do you remember the room number?”
¹⁶³⁾ “i can’t see anything.”
¹⁶⁴⁾ “lab results are back.”
¹⁶⁵⁾ “is it really so hard to pick up the damn phone when i call?”
¹⁶⁶⁾ “don’t you dare run.”
¹⁶⁷⁾ “bulleit, please. neat.”
¹⁶⁸⁾ “will you marry me?”
¹⁶⁹⁾ “how did you get tickets?!”
¹⁷⁰⁾ “your tie’s all crooked.”
¹⁷¹⁾ “license and insurance, please.”
¹⁷²⁾ “i’ll get a nurse in to do your sutures, and then we’ll send you on your way.”
¹⁷³⁾ “you’re a dead man.”
¹⁷⁴⁾ “you’re the worst thing to ever happen to me.”
¹⁷⁵⁾ “no, this is her secretary. i can take a message, if you’d like?”
¹⁷⁶⁾ “the money’s gone.”
¹⁷⁷⁾ “yeah, but it’ll cost you.”
¹⁷⁸⁾ “we need to find that phone.”
¹⁷⁹⁾ “can i crash here tonight?”
¹⁸⁰⁾ “i, um… i saw you. online.”
¹⁸¹⁾ “what do you mean husband?!”
¹⁸²⁾ “the fire’s growing- we need to keep moving.”
¹⁸³⁾ “your lipstick’s all over me!”
¹⁸⁴⁾ “four broken ribs… fuck.”
¹⁸⁵⁾ “what happened in shanghai?”
¹⁸⁶⁾ “you and these awful horror movies!”
¹⁸⁷⁾ “next door’s cat is back. do you remember where i put the kibble?”
¹⁸⁸⁾ “glitter and faux fur. classy.”
¹⁸⁹⁾ “since when were you blonde?!”
¹⁹⁰⁾ “do i even want to know?”
¹⁹¹⁾ “we were by a river. that’s all i remember.”
¹⁹²⁾ “please, let me call you a cab.”
¹⁹³⁾ “my hands are killing me, get these damn zipties off.”
¹⁹⁴⁾ “you don’t have to talk, if you don’t want to.”
¹⁹⁵⁾ “i read your last article. you’re not half bad at this shit.”
¹⁹⁶⁾ “is now a bad time to say i’m afraid of heights.”
¹⁹⁷⁾ “- quick, hide!”
¹⁹⁸⁾ “test came back negative.”
¹⁹⁹⁾ “say, ah.”
²⁰⁰⁾ “some friends they turned out to be.”
²⁰¹⁾ “you look oddly good in sequins.”
²⁰²⁾ “now there’s a headline: murder in mittens.”
²⁰³⁾ “we need to swab your hands for gunpowder residue.”
²⁰⁴⁾ “black, three sugars.”
²⁰⁵⁾ “i need you to listen to me, okay? this cannot happen again. ever.”
²⁰⁶⁾ “we shouldn’t be here.”
²⁰⁷⁾ “if you’re going to be such a die-hard fan, could you please start picking better teams? for my sake?”
²⁰⁸⁾ “… did you make me a packed lunch?”
²⁰⁹⁾ “i got a little bit stabbed.”
²¹⁰⁾ “no, it’s too late; you’re not walking home alone.”
²¹¹⁾ “i don’t care if she’s ten, she cannot be led to believe that derek is an acceptable name for a cat!”
²¹²⁾ “they were just here.”
²¹³⁾ “oh captain, my captai- “
²¹⁴⁾ “come to my room in ten.”
²¹⁵⁾ “no part of this was in the training manual.”
²¹⁶⁾ “i think i’m gonna lie down for a bit.”
²¹⁷⁾ “i can’t come out tonight, i’ve got to re-pot my roses.”
²¹⁸⁾ “you kick like an ass in your sleep.”
²¹⁹⁾ “i think we kissed.”
²²⁰⁾ “i never want to be a burden to you.”
²²¹⁾ “there’s someone in the trees.”
²²²⁾ “where’s that smoke coming from?”
²²³⁾ “my sheets smell like you.”
²²⁴⁾ “what did sarge say?”
²²⁵⁾ “the funeral’s at ten.”
²²⁶⁾ “she’s asystolic.”
²²⁷⁾ “it’s too loud in here. i’m going to start biting people.”
²²⁸⁾ “give it back!”
²²⁹⁾ “don’t make me call the cops!”
²³⁰⁾ “we tried everything. i’m sorry.”
²³¹⁾ “another round?”
²³²⁾ “come on the carousel with me, and i’ll think about it.”
²³³⁾ “this is why we didn’t stay married.”
²³⁴⁾ “i like your hair.”
²³⁵⁾ “homicide are on the way.”
²³⁶⁾ “i just ran.”
²³⁷⁾ “want a drink?”
²³⁸⁾ “i’m scared of the things i feel for you.”
²³⁹⁾ “can you remember anything about last night?”
²⁴⁰⁾ “you left this at mine.”
²⁴¹⁾ “i made us a reservation.”
²⁴²⁾ “pass the goddamn ball!”
²⁴³⁾ “someone cut the brake lights.”
²⁴⁴⁾ “wanna come to vegas with me?”
²⁴⁵⁾ “… did you use my body wash?”
²⁴⁶⁾ “go shower, then we’ll talk.”
²⁴⁷⁾ “how dare you say something like that to me!”
²⁴⁸⁾ “there’s a letter for you.”
²⁴⁹⁾ “i need to see you. now.”
²⁵⁰⁾ “i’ll kick this fucking door open!”
²⁵¹⁾ “don’t look at me like that.”
²⁵²⁾ “i can’t do this anymore.”

²⁵⁷⁾ “i’m sorry i missed dinner.”
²⁵⁸⁾ “i have a name, and it’s sure as hell not kid.”
²⁵⁹⁾ “you are a grown man, don’t pout.”
²⁶⁰⁾ “ah, look who’s awake.”
²⁶¹⁾ “if you’re after a ransom, i’m sorry to say you picked the wrong person.”

²⁶⁹⁾ “watcha reading?”
²⁷⁰⁾ “i ordered room service. possibly on your card.”
²⁷¹⁾ “this isn’t gonna work out.”
²⁷²⁾ “i saved you a seat.”
²⁷³⁾ “the dog got ahold of your scarf.”
²⁷⁴⁾ “i want to see my son.”
²⁷⁵⁾ “my friend’s an ass, i’m sorry.”
²⁷⁶⁾ “please, she could scare the balls off a brass monkey with a single look.”
²⁷⁷⁾ “you’re an almerciful pain the ass.”
²⁷⁸⁾ “give my compliments to the chef.”
²⁷⁹⁾ “wanna catch a movie at the weekend?”
²⁸⁰⁾ “you said i only had to stay for an hour- you got an hour and seven minutes! what more could you possibly want from me?!”
²⁸¹⁾ “i think i left my phone at the bar.”
²⁸²⁾ “... why is there a pool noodle in the hall?”
²⁸³⁾ “can you turn the lights off?”
²⁸⁴⁾ “was any of it real?”
²⁸⁵⁾ “do i want to know how you got that nickname.”
²⁸⁶⁾ “you’re like if an angel had a very severe ketamine problem.”
²⁸⁷⁾ “i think i fucked up my ankle last night.”
²⁸⁸⁾ “take the sunglasses off.”
²⁸⁹⁾ “i don’t know how i’m going to forgive you for this.”
²⁹⁰⁾ “i can’t believe i fell for this shit again.”
²⁹¹⁾ “morning, killer.”
²⁹²⁾ “who names a goldfish andrew?”
²⁹³⁾ “... i could’ve sworn you had too eyebrows last time we spoke.”
²⁹⁴⁾ “i’m scared shitless of dolls.”
²⁹⁵⁾ “how’d you get the shiner?”
²⁹⁶⁾ “here, let me help.”
²⁹⁷⁾ “look, my tomatoes are finally ripe!”
²⁹⁸⁾ “you can hold my hand, if it’d help.”

Saturn in the Houses: The Love Letter You Never Sent
♄ Saturn in the 1st House
I wanted to let you in, but all I’ve ever known is how to stand alone. It felt safer to build myself into something strong than to risk being seen while still becoming. I’ve always believed love was something I had to earn through effort, through excellence, through holding it all together. So I never showed you the parts I hadn’t perfected. I thought if I let you see the cracks, you’d leave. But I wish I could’ve told you this, that I was never asking you to fix me, only to stay long enough to see the version of me that didn’t know how to be held without apology.
♄ Saturn in the 2nd House
I’ve spent my life gripping what I love, afraid that once I open my hands, everything will fall away. I tied my worth to what I could hold, to what I could protect, to what felt certain. So I never gave you all of me. Not because I didn’t want to, but because I didn’t know how to trust that love wouldn’t take more than it gave. But if I could write you now, I’d say this: I was never withholding love. I was just afraid you’d see how much of it I had, and still walk away. I didn’t need someone to be mine, I just needed someone who wouldn’t disappear when I finally unclenched my fists.
♄ Saturn in the 3rd House
I rehearsed every word. Tucked pages of my heart into sentences I never sent. I was terrified that the moment I spoke, you’d misunderstand, or worse, you’d understand completely and not feel the same. So I smiled instead. Changed the subject. Turned my truth into silence. But I wish I could’ve said this: I cared more than I ever let on. There were poems in my pauses, apologies in every overthought message, and love in all the spaces I couldn’t fill with words. My heart was never blank, just written in a language I was too afraid to let you read.
♄ Saturn in the 4th House
I made it look easy to be alone. I made independence seem like peace, but it was armor. It was protection from the ache of needing someone who might leave. I kept my softness under lock and key, showed you only the rooms I had cleaned. The rest, the grief, the fear, the fragility, I kept buried in the basement of me. But if I could write you now, I’d tell you this: I was afraid of letting you feel how much I longed for safety. Not because I didn’t trust you, but because I didn’t yet believe I was worth being chosen without condition. But maybe I didn’t need to be whole to be worthy, just willing to open the door before I’d swept the floors.
♄ Saturn in the 5th House
I wanted to laugh louder. To love louder. To show you the unfiltered joy I used to tuck behind control. But I didn’t know how. Love felt like a stage and I was afraid to mess up my lines. I kept my affection measured, my passion quiet, my heart under careful choreography. I told myself it was maturity. But truthfully, I was scared that if I gave in to joy, I wouldn’t know how to hold it when it inevitably left. If I could write to you now, I’d say: I was never cold. I was never distant. I was just afraid that if I let myself feel it all, you’d watch me fall apart, and love me less because of it. And maybe the scariest thing wasn’t feeling everything, but letting you see how badly I wanted to.
♄ Saturn in the 6th House
I turned devotion into duty. Love became a list of things I had to do right, the right words, the right timing, the right version of me. I kept fixing things that weren’t broken because I didn’t know how to let love be easy. I was always one step ahead of your disappointment, trying to avoid the moment you’d realize I wasn’t enough. But what I never told you is this: I didn’t want to serve love, I wanted to rest in it. I wanted to stop measuring my worth in how useful I was to you. If I could go back, I’d choose presence over performance. I'd give you my heart, not my checklist. I’d finally believe I was worthy of love even when I wasn’t holding everything together, just lying still, and letting someone hold me.
♄ Saturn in the 7th House
I crave connection more than I ever said. But I’ve seen what it costs, what it takes to merge your world with someone else’s. So I held myself back even as I moved toward you. Love felt like surrender, and surrender felt like erasure. I was scared that giving you my heart would mean forgetting where I’d left mine. But if I could speak now, I’d say this: I didn’t push you away because I didn’t care, I pushed you away because I cared too much, and I didn’t know how to stay whole inside something so big. All I needed was a love that felt like a home, one where I could leave the door open and still be invited in.
♄ Saturn in the 8th House
You touched something ancient in me. Something buried. And it scared me, not because you hurt me, but because you could. I wanted to be vulnerable. To let you see the shadows, the softness, the parts of me even I still don’t understand. But I pulled back, wrapped myself in distance, and called it protection. The truth is: I didn’t know how to let someone see me where I hadn’t yet survived myself. I feared that if I handed you my depth, you’d drown in it, or worse, you’d leave me to face it alone. But now I know, maybe the fear was never about being seen, but about being transformed by a love that had the courage to open the door while the house was still burning.
♄ Saturn in the 9th House
I wanted to believe. In you. In us. In something greater than logic or circumstance. But hope has let me down before, and I learned not to trust what I couldn’t predict. So I questioned everything, even the parts of me that ached for you. I craved a love that expanded me, but feared the fall that comes with faith. So I stayed cautious, measured the future in small steps, and held back the part of me that wanted to leap into the unknown just to be close to you. If I could tell you now, I’d say I was never cold. I was just building a belief strong enough to carry us both. All I needed was a love that felt like a sky I didn’t have to map, just one I could lie beneath, trusting that it would still be there in the morning.
♄ Saturn in the 10th House
I thought I had to accomplish everything before I could deserve you. Love felt like a reward I hadn’t earned yet, so I poured myself into building a life that looked impressive but felt quietly empty without you in it. I confused purpose with pressure, ambition with distance. I kept choosing the version of me the world would applaud, even when all I wanted was to be held in a place that didn’t ask me to perform. If I could write you now, I’d say this: I wish I had made space for you in the life I was building. Because love was never a distraction, it was the missing piece of the dream I didn’t know how to name.
♄ Saturn in the 11th House
I always felt like the outsider, a step outside the circle, watching connection happen around me but never fully in it. So I kept my heart behind ideals, hid my longing beneath independence, and told myself I was fine on my own. But the truth is, I wanted someone to see through the distance. To recognize that I was never unreachable, just scared that if I showed who I truly was, no one would stay. If I could speak now, I’d tell you this: I wasn’t pushing you away. I was waiting to feel safe enough to belong. And I wish I had realized sooner that love doesn’t require you to fit in, only to let yourself be seen, by someone who saw my edges and stayed for the shape they made.
♄ Saturn in the 12th House
I loved you from behind the veil, quietly, invisibly, carrying a tenderness I never knew how to speak. My heart was full, but so were my shadows. There were parts of me even I hadn’t faced yet. And so I drifted, half-present, half-lost in the depth of everything I didn’t know how to name. You thought I was distant. But I was drowning in the fear that if I let you too close, you’d see how much of me was still unfinished. If I could tell you now, I wish I’d let you in. Even just a little. Because love doesn’t require you to be whole. It only asks you to be honest about where it hurts.

Babysitter - Part 1
Pairing: dad!Toji x babysitter!reader
Rating: Explicit – MINORS DO NOT INTERACT
Word Count: ~1.7k
cw: age gap (reader is 21, Toji is in his 30s), language, cheating, smut – PIV sex (doggy style), breeding kink, daddy kink
Summary: You're hired to babysit little Megumi for the summer, but you end up taking care of his father, Toji, as well.
Author’s Notes: This is repost from my old blog! I initially got this as a request and it became my first Toji fic ever, and certainly not my last lol. I'm posting this again because I actually wrote a Part 2, check it out! Thanks for reading! Divider credit to @/fic-dumpster.
You stand in front of a quaint house, checking your watch for the time. It’s been almost ten minutes now since you knocked, no answer. You gave the number from the listing a call, still nothing. Rolling your eyes, you take a seat on the steps leading to the door, waiting.
It’s the summer before you head back to university for your senior year. In an attempt to make some extra cash, you took a job as a babysitter through local ads in the paper. The first two clients were completely normal; this one is already leaving a bad taste in your mouth.
Fifteen minutes have passed. You try once more, pounding on the door with your fist as loud as you can. Heel turned, ready to leave, it suddenly swings open, revealing a muscular man with black hair, glaring at you. “What the fuck do you want?”
You step back, startled by his intimidating presence. Stuttering, you answer, “I’m the babysitter.”
He continues to stare at you, eyes following your body up and down, studying it. “Babysitter?”
Before you can explain any further, you hear a car rolling into the driveway. A woman in professional attire steps out quickly. “I’m so sorry I’m late!” She rushes towards you, holding her hand out to shake yours. “We spoke on the phone. I got stuck in traffic, I’m so sorry.”
You smile at her. “It’s okay.”
She faces the man, expression switching from cheery to dreary in an instant. “Toji, where is Megumi?”
He scratches his head. “Huh?”
“Megumi. Our child.”
He sighs. “Right. Uh, I’ll go get him.”
While he’s gone, the woman pulls you aside, speaking in a hushed voice. “That’s Toji, my husband and Megumi’s father. Unfortunately, he’s a complete deadbeat. That’s why I want to hire you. I started my new job and I need someone to take care of Megumi while I’m gone during the day.”
She swallows hard, blinking to fight off oncoming tears. “I have no one. I’ve been shunned by my family, my husband doesn’t give a shit about ours, and I’m all alone trying to give Megumi a good life. I know this is a lot to ask, but I’m desperate. This is just until I can save enough money to hire a full-time nanny.”
She grips onto your wrist with both her hands, begging for help. Truthfully, it’s a lot to unravel, more drama than you anticipated. But the anguish in her eyes tugs at your heartstrings. Plus, knowing it’s temporary doesn’t make it seem so difficult. How bad can it be? “Okay. I’ll do it.”
Relief washes over her. “Oh thank god. Thank you. Thank you. Let’s go inside and I can give you a tour.” She leads you through the entrance, removing her shoes as you follow her. “Oh, and one more thing.”
“Sure.”
“Toji is home most of the day, but he’s always couped up in his room, doing god knows what. Just leave a meal or two outside his door twice a day. That should be enough.”
“Huh?!”
She glances at you with a nervous smile on her face. “Yeah. I told you, he’s good for nothing.”
You don’t respond while you maneuver through the house, barely paying attention while she shows you around. It almost sounds like you’ll be babysitting two children…
~~~
The first two weeks of your new job go by smoothly. Megumi is an adorable baby; he’s almost two-years-old with hair as black as his father’s. While he never really smiles, he doesn’t cry either, expression usually stern, unless he needs a diaper change. He’s self-sufficient, always immersed by his own toys until it’s time to eat. Overall, he’s easy.
Toji, on the other hand, is another story.
You follow his wife’s instructions, leaving two meals outside his door, breakfast and lunch. And this asshole has the audacity to critique it! The bread wasn’t toasted enough. The eggs were too runny. There wasn’t enough seasoning on the meat. All this criticism while each plate is licked clean, not a crumb to spot. He’s never even uttered a simple thank you.
But what he lacks in social skills or personality, he makes up for in his physique. In between meals, he works out in the living room lifting weights, doing push-ups, sit-ups, and pull-ups at the frame of the door. It lasts for over an hour, and by the end of it, he’s shirtless, dripping with sweat. You’ve done everything in your power to avoid staring but it doesn’t prevent your mind from conjuring all types of lewd thoughts about him. You’re ashamed to admit that he is physically attractive, only because everything else about him is utter trash. Still, it doesn’t hurt to look, right?
On the third week, there’s a shift in energy between you two. When he isn’t working out or going out to meet with his sketchy friends, he’s usually couped up in his bedroom, ignoring you and Megumi. This morning, he actually joins you in the kitchen. You stare blankly at him, stunned by his sudden appearance. Megumi is unfazed by his father as he tries to pull your wrist towards him to get a spoonful of mushed up peas.
When he catches you, Toji glares. “What?”
“Um, nothing. Just surprised to see you here.” You clear your throat, focusing back on the baby.
He rolls his eyes. “This is my house. I can do whatever I want.”
“Yes, of course. Sir.”
For some reason, this triggers him. He stands up abruptly, stepping to you, leaning his face towards yours. The scar on the corner of his lip twitches when he gives you a wicked grin. “That’s right. I’m in charge here.”
You flinch from him, scared, maybe even slightly aroused. He’s intense, that’s for sure. But part of you finds it exhilarating to be in his presence.
Megumi whines for more food, to which Toji grabs the utensil from your hands to start feeding him. “Damn kid, he’s hungry all the fucking time.”
You sit up in your seat, regaining your composure. “You shouldn’t curse in front of children.”
He faces you, chuckling. “Curse? Seriously? What are you, five?”
You cross your arms, answering, “I’m twenty-one.”
“Interesting.” There’s that naughty smirk again, as if he’s thinking something obscene in that twisted head of his. And while you should be turned off, you’re not. You squeeze your legs together, pussy throbbing between your thighs. And of course, he notices this. He must, because he leans forward, lips grazing your ear, whispering, “Come by my room whenever Megumi is taking his nap. That’s an order.”
~~~
This is bad. Very, very bad.
You're supposed to be better than this. Clearly, you aren’t, because you’re currently getting railed by your employer’s husband while his child sleeps peacefully in the next room.
“Fuck, this pussy is tight,” he groans, pumping his thick cock in and out of you. You’re bent over the edge of the bed, his hips smacking against your ass as he thrusts into you. He’s got a tight grip on your hips, nails digging into your flesh, pounding away at your greedy pussy, absolutely drenched with arousal and lube. Your face is sticky with perspiration, pillow soaked with sweat and drool. It’s a fucking mess, but it doesn’t matter, because all you can think about is Toji fucking you until you’re seeing stars. Until your head is empty and nothing but his fat cock is occupying your thoughts.
“God, you’re squeezing me so fucking hard, princess. You gonna come again?”
You nod erratically, reaching your fingers to your clit. He smacks it away, doing it himself, his thumb flicking against your swollen bud. “Fucking come on my cock then. Make it nice and creamy for me, got it?”
His cock is buried deep inside you, hitting your sweet spot over and over until you unravel, gushing around him once more. You’ve lost count on how many orgasms you’ve had in this short amount of time.
After your climax, he doesn’t pull out, fucking you even rougher. Your body is pliant around him, yielding to his every touch like putty. You’ve lost control of yourself, completely enraptured in the intense pleasure he surrounds you with.
He leans forward, chest pressed to your back, lips brushed to your ear. “I’m gonna knock you up. Give Megumi a little brother or sister. Would you like that?” He’s crazy. Completely unhinged. Absolutely fucking psycho.
“Fuck yes, I want that,” you moan. “Give it to me, daddy. Breed me.”
And apparently, so are you.
“Oh fuck yeah, take my fucking cum then,” he growls. The bed creaks violently below you, his backshots brutal and frantic now, cock desperate for release. “I’m gonna get you fucking pregnant. Make you mine.”
He shoots his hot load inside you, stuffing you full of his cum. He doesn’t stop until he’s fucked it deeper into your pussy, watching with that sexy look on his face as his creamy cum leaks out of your slit.
Lifting you up to lay comfortably on the bed, he rolls beside you, kissing you sloppily until Megumi’s whimpers blare through the baby monitor, indicating that he’s awake. Toji laughs, smacking your ass as you crawl over him to return to your real job.
~~~
You spend the remainder of your summer employed at the Fushiguro household until you have to go back to school. You and Toji continue to fuck each other silly every day that you’re working.
The day before you leave for college, you say your goodbyes to the family. Megumi’s mom, who remains blissfully unaware of your sins, hugs you tightly. “Thank you so much for all your help. I’ve finally saved enough money to afford a full-time nanny, so we’ll be fine.”
“It was my pleasure. I had a lot of fun. With Megumi,” you clarify, avoiding Toji’s gaze as he watches from the kitchen.
“Seriously. You’re a good person. I hope you know that.” She smiles, truly grateful. “And thank you for taking care of my good for nothing husband too.”
As the guilt of this dirty, filthy secret eats away at you, Toji stares at you from across the room, smirking.
Bed Wars | J.WW
+ summary: after spending countless hours building a house for your boyfriend... you're suddenly met with his bed placed right next to yours? what the hell man! + pairing: wonwoo x fem!reader + word count: 800~ + content: fluff, established relationship, they're just playing minecraft lol, reader likes to bicker.
[ᝰ.ᐟ] happy valentine's day!!! thought i would post something small to celebrate since i didn't post for last year's valentine's day. also i would like to (unfortunately) thank @cherry-zip for bullying me into posting this on time! hope you enjoy, thanks for reading! <3 (borders made by @enchanthings !)
"C’mon dude,” you groaned, staring at the sight in front of you. “I made you a house for a reason!”
Wonwoo’s response? Moving his bed right next to yours.
“Well, I want to sleep here,” he stated simply.
You let out an annoyed sigh, arms crossed. “Like, seriously? The colors don’t even match!”
Wonwoo only giggled, enjoying your frustration with him. “What are you talking about? My purple bed goes perfectly with your pink one. Also, what if a creeper spawns in my house—how will you ever hear my cries for help?”
Your eye twitched at his insistence. God, he was so annoying. “Now, why would a creeper spawn in your house?”
“You never know, I’ve seen it happen before.”
“Fine. I’ll move out then,” you said, quickly destroying your bed and leaving the house. You weren’t even bothered enough to take anything from your chests.
The two of you continued playing in silence for a few minutes. It’s not like you were actually mad or anything… but it was fun to start a meaningless fight with Wonwoo.
In the meantime, you explored the surrounding biomes in hopes of finding a suitable place to make a new house. Well, more like a camp. (Your house was way too pretty for you to simply abandon.)
After a few more minutes of silence, Wonwoo began to message you in the game.
[gam3bo1: where are you :(]
[gam3bo1: i miss youuuuu]
[gam3bo1: answer me!]
“Are you mad at me?” He asked, turning to look at you from his monitor, eyes filled with faux innocence.
You scoffed. “Oh, no. Not at all. I just love how you’re completely ignoring the fact that I built a whole house for you, and yet, you insist on staying in my house!”
Wonwoo let out a dramatic sigh. “Well, it's not my fault my house feels so… lonely.”
You rolled your eyes as he spoke, but he didn’t stop there. Who would’ve known that he was going to be this pouty.
“Look, our babies miss you too.” He waved you down to look over at his screen.
To your disappointment, curiosity got the better of you. “This better be–” Your voice cut off at the sight of your pets.
All of your in-game pets–the dogs, cats, and even the random parrot you found in a jungle biome a few weeks back–were all sitting obediently inside your home. Wonwoo had conveniently placed them all in front of his bed, having them turned to look at the empty space–where your bed used to be.
You narrowed your eyes upon realizing the little stunt he was trying to pull on you. “You’re trying to manipulate me into going back home!”
Wonwoo gasped. “I would never do such a thing!”
After a few moments of pure laughter, you finally gave in. You could never stay mad at him for too long.
“...Fine, I’ll come back.” You huffed out, finally turning back to your monitor and making your way back home.
As you neared your house, something new caught your eye.
Behind your house, was a small, heart-shaped garden. The ground was tiled in a red-and-pink checkered pattern, carefully placed block by block. Peonies and roses filled the garden’s corners, their colors nicely decorating the huge heart in the middle. In front of the heart sat a small seating area just for the two of you.
“Oh.”
“I made it while you were ignoring me,” Wonwoo said, his voice suddenly next to your ear.
Your fingers hovered over your keyboard. It was… annoyingly cute.
You continued to move around, stepping onto the checkered flooring and admiring the little details he had placed all around. It was cute.
“...You built me a garden?” you asked softly.
Wonwoo hummed. “I might have had help from a few tutorials, but yeah. I wanted to make a spot for us.”
And unsurprisingly, your stomach did an embarrassing flip.
Wonwoo went back over to his desk, quickly moving his player to sit on one of the chairs in the garden. Following him, you sat down in the chair in front of him, and before you could even say anything he beat you to it.
“I just thought our shared house could use a little extra love. You know, since we obviously live together.”
You groaned, covering your face with your hands as Wonwoo laughed triumphantly beside you. He just had to ruin the moment!
“Now c’mon, let’s go to bed,” he said as he pressed ‘Save and Exit’. By the time you reached the main menu, Wonwoo was already pulling you away from your desk.
“I’m never building you anything ever again,” you muttered, body betraying you as you leaned into him on your shared bed.
“Yeah, yeah,” he murmured into your hair, pressing a soft kiss to the top of your head. “And yet you still let me sleep next to you.”
You wanted to argue, but sleep was already pulling you away. “Mhm, whatever helps you sleep at night.”
Match My Freak
She’s been my roommate for over three months now and I’m nearing the end of my patience. Everything about her drives me insane, from the smell of her shampoo permeating through the bathroom after her long showers to the way she prances around the living room and kitchen wearing her tiny little pajamas. I’ve learned every single detail about her since she moved in and every day I fall in love with her a little more but she has no idea. She’s been etched into every atom of my soul and I need her to be mine.
She’d moved into my place after responding to an ad I’d placed about needing a roommate. She told me she’d broken up with her boyfriend and moved out of their shared apartment so it never felt right for me to make a move. I didn’t want her to treat me like a rebound, not when I have every intention of making her mine forever. But, last week, she’d put on a fucking red dress and heels fully done up to go on a date with some loser. I almost lost my mind when I saw her on her way out the door. How dare she go spend time with some loser guy when I’m right here for her?
That night, while I waited up all night for her to come home (she didn’t and I almost left the house to hunt her down and drag her back here), I made up my mind. If she can’t see what’s right in front of her, I’ll make her see. I’ll force her to. Plus, she deserves a punishment for whoring herself out to some random guy and I plan to teach her a hard-earned lesson.
It wasn’t very difficult to get my hands on what I needed, the internet really does provide all. A few searches, a couple hundred dollars, and a week’s wait for expedited shipping later, I was equipped with a fast-acting roofie and a powerful aphrodisiac, both of which dissolved nicely and undetectably into any beverage of choice.
It’s Friday night now and I’m jittery with a combination of nerves, excitement, and a feeling of finality. I’m finally getting a taste of what I want. She’ll wake up the next morning, maybe a little sore and tired but none the wiser of the events of tonight. And once I clear my head a little, I’ll figure out a long term plan to make her mine forever.
Really, I’m doing her a favor. I could be rough, be violent, hold a knife to her throat and force her to take my cock. Make her cry and scream and traumatize her to really punish her. But no, I’m too good to her to put her through that. Instead, she gets the easy way out, the nice drugs that make her pliant, relaxed, and needy. She gets to wake up the next morning and still feel safe around me, because she is. And eventually, she’ll learn to love me.
She’s curled up on the couch when I come out of my room, dressed in another one of her tiny pajama sets, her eyes leaving her Kindle to meet mine before she shoots me a beautiful smile. “Hey you! Where’ve you been? I feel like I’ve hardly seen you all week?”
I flash her a grin, “Been busy with work, I took on a new project and there’s been a lot of prep work involved.”
She nods, “Well I hope it goes well, I can’t imagine it not, you seem really good at your job!” If only she knew.
I smile at her before heading into the kitchen, calling out behind me, “You want something to drink?”
“Yes please! Can you grab me a can of seltzer, please?”
My smile widens when I hear that and I grab a can of her favorite flavor from the fridge before cracking it open and pouring the fizzy water into a cup. Both drugs dissolve immediately into the drink and I smirk before grabbing a can for myself.
I step back into the living room and settle onto the other side of the couch, handing over her drink. She smiles in thanks before taking a long sip. I hide my smile behind a drink of my own.
“Whatcha up to?” I ask, nodding towards her Kindle.
She shrugs, tossing her hair over her shoulder, the smell of her shampoo wafting into my face. My fist clenches. Fuck, she smells so good. “I’m just reading, nothing exciting,” she says. “What about you? Any fun plans tonight?”
I can’t hold back the smirk that lights up my face, “Nah, just spending a night in.”
She takes another sip of her drink and blinks her eyes tiredly. “Mhm, that sounds nice, getting to bed early sounds like a good plan.”
I nod, eyes fixed on her drink as she takes another swallow. My heart is beating hard in my chest as I try to restrain myself from showing my dark excitement for where tonight is headed.
I watch as she sets her Kindle down on the coffee table and rubs her eyes. “I think I’m going to head into my room…” her voice is softer now, slower as the drugs start to take effect. I nod at her drink, “You should finish that before you head in.”
She nods a little and drinks the last little bit, setting her cup onto the table and moving to stand. She barely manages to get herself up before she stumbles and her knees buckle, her body folding like a puppet.
I’m ready for her and I pull her into my lap, making sure she doesn’t hurt herself.
“Hey, hey, what’s wrong, you okay?” My voice betrays my excitement but she’s too far gone to notice. Her body melts into mine as she lets out a soft whine, “Mm really tired… and everything feels so hot…”
She leans her head against my shoulder and I let out a groan, the feeling of her soft body in my lap is almost enough to make me lose control. I laugh incredulously, “Fuck, those drugs really do work fast.”
I tap her cheek gently and look into her dazed eyes, “Hey. Hey, focus on me. You still with me?”
Her eyes blink slowly at me but she’s too delirious to respond. I’m so fucking hard now, the reality of what’s going to happen fully hitting me. I cup her cheek and lean my forehead against hers, groaning with desire.
“You’re all mine now, huh? Drugged out of your mind and completely vulnerable. You look so pretty like this, not a single thought in that gorgeous head of yours, isn’t that right?”
My lips meet hers and I moan into her mouth as I claim our first kiss. First of many. She’s soft and pliant underneath me, her lips clumsily moving against mine. I run my hand through her soft hair as my lips work feverishly against hers. My breath comes out in harsh pants when I finally pull away, the taste of her lips making my head spin.
“Fuck, you’re so perfect like this. So obedient, so good for me. Not like last week, when you whored yourself out to some fucking guy, huh?” My voice turns mean as I recall the red hot fury that governed my every thought the night she went out. My hands get rougher as I move her around in my lap, pulling her back to my chest and spreading her legs so they splayed open for me.
“If you’d just been a good girl, tonight wouldn’t have needed to happen like this. But no, you betrayed me. You went and fucked some other guy and now I need to cleanse him from you before I can make you mine. Because that’s what you are, my perfect girl, isn’t that right?”
Her eyes have fluttered shut now but it doesn’t matter to me because when my hand trails down her stomach to her clothed pussy, I can feel the burning heat. The aphrodisiac’s doing its job too.
I chuckle and grab a fistful of her pathetically tiny shorts and jerk them hard off her legs. She lets out a soft whimper from my harsh treatment and I coo softly at her, “It’s okay, darling, this is what you want.”
My fingers press against her bare cunt and she’s soaked.
“Fuck, you’re fucking dripping. Look at you, drugged out of your mind and this pretty pussy is weeping for me.”
I run my fingers gently across her pulsing clit and her legs twitch, a soft whine escaping from her lips. I start to rub her sensitive little clit in circles, spreading her own wetness all over her pussy.
“So messy for me, huh? I know you like this, I can feel your cunt pulsing. Only I can make you feel this way, you’ll learn that soon.”
She’s letting out little desperate whimpers and a glance at her face tells me she’s so out of it that I have nothing to worry about. I slide a finger into her pussy and groan at how tight she is.
“Fuck, your pretty pussy feels so good wrapped around my finger. God, you’re so nasty, getting all drugged up and turning into a little mindless toy. You’re leaking all over my lap and I’ve barely done anything. What a filthy little whore.”
I thrust my fingers into her and curl them upwards, letting my thumb keep rubbing her little clit. I almost wish she were more lucid so she could hear all the dirty things I’m telling her.
“Fuck, I can tell you’re close, huh? You gonna cum for me, all drugged up and making a mess all over my fingers?”
Her soft whimpers have turned into louder moans and I can tell by her little hip thrusts that she’s close. My fingers don’t stop and I feel her shudder in my arms, a soft mewling cry erupting from her as she cums for me. I groan softly and work her through her orgasm, my fingers rubbing mercilessly against her little clit as she trembles.
“That’s it, baby, feel good for me. I’m the only one who can make you feel like this, isn’t that right? You’re fucking mine.” I pull my fingers away from her and taste her wetness, moaning at how good she is.
I scoop her up and carry her into my room, laying her gently down on my bed, her head lolling in her drugged state of semi-consciousness. I brush her hair away from her pretty face, admiring her.
“I love you, pretty girl, do you know that? I love you so much and I’ll prove that to you. You won’t remember any of this tomorrow, but I promise you’ll never doubt how much I love you for the rest of our lives.”
I crawl over her, pining her body down onto the bed with my own, my hands running everywhere over her body. I trail soft kisses over her skin, licking gently down her neck and into the valley of her pretty, pretty tits. Her nipples are so hard and a gentle flick from my fingers makes her let out a soft, sleepy whine.
I draw a hard peak into my mouth and let my tongue play with her sensitive flesh, scrapping my teeth gently against her. Another whimper from her. I want nothing more than to leave love bites and marks all over her skin, proving that she belongs to me for anyone to see but I control myself. Leaving marks would mean leaving evidence and I can’t have that, not yet.
I spend another few moments gently playing with her sensitive tits before I get too impatient to wait any longer. My cock has been straining against my sweatpants since I saw her take her first sip of her drugged drink and I can’t hold back anymore. I make quick work of my own clothes before I finally press my naked body against hers, every single bit of her form fitting perfectly against mine, like we were made for each other.
Her pretty cunt is still weeping, making a mess all over my bed. “I wish you were awake for this so you could see how fucking perfect we are for each other. But it’s okay, your mind might not remember this but your body well. Your body will know it belongs to me.” I groan as I swipe a finger through her wetness, making sure to nudge her little clit, savoring the hitch in her breathing that follows.
I smirk as I grip my throbbing cock and run the head gently across her dripping folds, moaning at the feel of her. “Fuck, such a desperate little cunt for me. You like this, huh? Like the feeling of my cock rubbing your cunt? Fuck, you’re so good like this.”
I slowly start to press into her, the tight, wet heat of her pussy making my head spin from pleasure. She lets out tiny little moans as I bottom out inside of her, her cunt clenching around me so tightly I would’ve thought she was awake if I didn’t know better.
“Fuck, that’s right. I own this pussy, this tight fucking cunt gripping my cock. Fuck, you’re all mine.” I’m panting as I start to thrust into her, every single movement making her limp body jerk.
She’s so good for me, so obedient as I take exactly what I want from her. Her eyes are still shut but the sounds she makes while unconscious are almost enough to make me worry she’s actually awake. I thrust deep and she lets out a delicious little whine.
“Fuck yes, you’re so sensitive like this, huh? The drugs making you so needy for me and my cock. Is that little clitty feeling neglected?” I groan as my fingers rub harshly against her clit, the movement making her cunt tighten even further around me. It doesn’t take long before I hear her little whimpers escalate and her hips jerk. Her soft, relaxed body is driving me insane and I start to loose my rhythm as she milks me.
“You getting close again, love? All drugged up, stuffed full, and about to cum again for me? There you go, you like that huh? I know you can’t answer me but your body tells me enough.” I rub her clit faster and shudder when I feel her orgasm hit her hard. Her pussy milks me hard and it pushes me over the edge.
I fuck her through both our orgasms and I collapse onto the bed next to her, taking care not to crush her underneath me. My heart is pounding as the pleasure ebbs out of my body, leaving me satiated and content. I pull her into my arms and press my lips to her temple, my eyes taking in her flushed face, closed eyes, and trembling body. My pretty girl is all tired out from tonight’s activities.
“You did so good, love. I’m so fucking good to you, aren’t I? I made sure you’d enjoy this, made sure you would cum over and over again. I treated you so well, I didn’t leave a single bruise on your soft skin. You should be so grateful, baby. I made sure to be gentle, to be so good to you. Made sure to buy you the good drugs so you wake up tomorrow nice and easy. You won’t remember any of this but it’s okay. I’ll remember and I’ll know that our first time together was perfect.”
I press my lips to her skin again and pull her tighter into my grasp, my own eyes closing as I drift off to sleep with her.
I wake up several hours later, her body still tucked into my own, her soft breaths tickling my skin. I take in the vision of her curled up in my bed and it almost makes me want to fuck her again. But I can’t, her drugs are going to wear off soon and I need to make sure she opens her eyes in her own room, dressed in her pajamas so she has no clue what happened.
I groan softly as I extricate myself from the bed, my body already missing hers. It’s easy enough to redress her in her pajamas and carry her into her room. I tuck her into bed and press a soft kiss to her forehead before heading out of her bedroom.
I’m too restless to go back to sleep so I throw on a pair of sweatpants and go to sit out in the living room, replaying the events of last night in my head. As time passes, there’s a sinking feeling of dread building in my stomach. What if the drugs didn’t work as expected and she wakes up remembering everything that happened? If that happens, everything falls apart. I’m wracking my brain to come up with a contingency plan and wanting to punch myself for not thinking this through earlier when I hear the door of her bedroom open.
My eyes immediately find hers and part of my relaxes when I see no anger, fear, or revulsion in her face. Just sleepiness and a look of contentment.
“Hey, how’d you sleep?” My voice sounds thick and croaky and I cough awkwardly to cover it up. She smiles at me and walks in my direction.
“Good, really good.”
She comes to the couch and settles next to me. Closer than normal. A lot closer, she’s basically pressed right up against me. I blink at her.
She smirks and her hand comes to rest against my chest. My bare chest. My breath stutters and I look at her with wide eyes. “What- what are you doing?”
She giggles, “What? You spend all night doing unspeakable things to me and now a little hand on your chest has you freaking out?”
My mind short-circuits as my stomach drops. “What?” My voice comes out in a croak and panic seizes my entire body.
I hear her laugh again but everything feels like a haze. I watch, frozen, as she tucks herself against me and leans into my chest.
I clear my throat and stutter a little when I speak again, “What- what do you think happened last night?”
She smiles at me. “You mean before or after you drugged me?”
Fuck, I’m screwed. I fucked up. It’s over. My heart is pounding as I struggle to process what’s happening. “What?” If I had higher brain capacity right now, I’d be desperately coming up with some excuse but nothing comes to mind. She laughs again and cups my cheek in one hand.
“Stop freaking out, you didn’t do anything that I didn’t already want,” her voice punches through the confusion in my head and I stare at her.
“What?” That seems to be my favorite word right now.
She pats my cheek. “Okay, fine, I’ll explain, I’m done messing with you. I’ve been into you since I moved in. And I know you’ve been into me too. It’s really hard to miss all the signs, you’re always doing little things for me, buying me the snacks I like, making excuses to spend weekends together, staring at me when you think I’m not paying attention.”
I blush a little at that, I guess I haven’t been subtle.
“I kept waiting for you to do something about it but you never did. So I ‘went on a date’ last week to try to provoke something out of you.” I blink dumbly at her air quotes.
“What? It wasn’t a real date?” There’s so much for my brain to work through right now and I can’t focus properly because she keeps stroking my chest.
She laughs and rolls her eyes good-naturedly, “No, it wasn’t a real date, I got dressed up and went to a friend’s place to stay over to make you jealous so you’d do something. And you did. Only I thought you’d ask me out finally, not concoct this insane plan of yours.”
I blink slowly at her, she continues, seeing that I’m incapable of stringing together coherent words right now.
“You left your laptop out last week and I saw the shipping confirmation of the drugs in your email. It wasn’t hard to put together what you intended to do. I didn’t think you had it in you,” she teased. I’m still dumbfounded.
“It wasn’t that hard to get to the packages before you when they came in,” she shrugs. “The roofie I swapped for a sugar pill but I kept the aphrodisiac intact because it sounded fun. And when you drugged me last night, I just pretended that the roofie worked. Honestly, it was so much harder than I thought it would be to stay still through everything but so fucking worth it.” She smiles at me before kissing my cheek.
My mind is racing as I put all the pieces together and all the panic and fear from earlier is replaced with awe. I let out a choked, incredulous laugh. “What the fuck? You’re fucking crazy,” my voice is reverential as I grab her and pull her onto my lap. My lips find hers and I feel her melt into the kiss, every single fiber of my being relaxing with her.
I pull away and look into her eyes, “I love you, you’re perfect.”
She smiles, “I love you too.” She winks at me, “I can match your freak.”
