Shellie grew up in a sea otter community where half of the town was floating homes and the other half was social areas and family areas in/on the water... falling asleep beneath the stars and all that yk? <3

Having POTS definitely would've made leaving his swimming sea otter community like.. really hard... esp if he wanted to get a higher education.

He always kinda felt bad about his disability growing up (not ashamed!) cuz his sister pearl would often try to stay behind with him or change her own plans for his sake, even tho she had older friends and interests that just weren't POTS friendly... not to mention alot of the sea otter communities games like wrestling and diving courses and races just... weren't really something he could DO....

pearl never minded or saw it as a pain because they were honestly both raised pretty well enough to communicate their needs and feelings. Eventually shellington did make a few close friends of his own tho,but even then he and pearl were always close and enjoyed eachothers company ^v^

his parents tried to support him physically and mentally-and shellington knew he was loved, but that mixed with autism really just gave him this sense of othering at times. They did talk to him about that and they worked on it through communication and helping him find his own "niche" so to speak. And he always made sure to support his family too, he's a very good listener after all.

He got to have good experiences and got to make mistakes, learn from them, and grow up accepted and cherished even if he just had to do things a little differently sometimes.

His dad was actually a jeweler that worked on a nearby shop on land and his mom did tutoring and was pretty active in their community.

Shellington was always in their local library researching creatures he couldn't find locally (creatures that traveled told him about so many interesting stories! His own parents used to travel alot before pearl and he were born and his old man would tell him tons of stories about their traveling adventures! And little creatures they met too) and drawing them.

Shellington loved to draw wherever he could and whenever he could and even won a few art competitions for youth through the years.

Eventually he got older and his passion for sea creatures grew even stronger and stronger, making him dive into a world full of aspiration of understanding them all on a deep biological cellular level.

(Especially since he was very aware of all the "amazing natural cures" that were just a bunch of bs, he'd rather do research to find real helpful uses that might ACTUALLY help people someday)

The word was just FULL of mysteries of so many creatures abilities- and he just wanted to solve them and understand them and SEE EVERYTHING! He even got to work in a lab thanks to his academic success.

It was that same passion that allowed him to excel and that same passion that lead him to being one of the first members (other than the captain tweak and inkling) to join the octonauts! He had a wide range of understanding and an even wider range of skills. Shellie understood creatures, the complicated webs and nature of ecosystems, and was deeply passionate.

So he did basically got his dream job!

And thats a bit of backstop for my shellie! Thoughts (and corrections/ suggestions for any inaccuracies ) are welcome !

Do you have any advice for people who might want to get into making comics like yours? I'm always pleasantly surprised by how fast you pump them out and even have other little projects/doodles on the side. How do you keep the quality consistent?

First off - Thank you !! I'm honored you like my lil guys and comics hehe! (and no worries on the tone !! I didn't think it sounded cold at all!)

Alright secondly lets see...

Short answer: You really just gotta start and keep going!! Once you start you get the momentum and it gets much easier (like riding a bike, which people like to use as comparison often).

Long answer:

Alright I thought about how to answer for this for a bit and I think I'll break it down to the main aspects.

So timing ! Basically I'm drawing 24/7 (and I'm currently not working as it's an off time for me, but I shall in a week and you will see that my posting frequency will decrease substantially). Ok maybe not 24/7 but I essentially am drawing from the moment I wake up to when I sleep (minus eating, restroom, working out, some errands) and while I do not say this is the key to being better, I'm just realistically displaying how much time I'm spending on drawing. (... one of my new years resolution is to not in fact do that and go out more because I feel like I'm being cooped up in my room a lot haha). But minus the amount of time I spend itself a lot of it has to do with the importance I take in speed drawing. And when I say that I mean quite literally how fast I can draw. AND I think a large part of where that speed comes from is how I like to generalize designs and just my overall process of drawing. (Which, I will not go over now but if you'd like I could make a separate post on how I go about doing my usual sketch, lines, colors, etc) Like, I love ff and all of it's crazy designs but it's so complicated I simplify everything till it's juussstt recognizable, and that's something I feel like really adds to the speed of things.

Also that's sweet of you to say for the quality haha (I always am thinking stuff like ah man this aint it... not my finest work, and then just post anyways cuz who cares I already made it heh)! That being said my quality wasn't alwaysss consistent! Here's an example of my very first "comic" I made for my characters:

So I've been basically drawing comics for this for just about 2 years now (will be 2 years officially in a few months) and I most certainly did not get here in one night. I think, as I've mentioned, it's really important to keep up with the comic making (or drawing in general) so that, yes, you can get better, but the way you get better is that it becomes familiar to you. So you can approach concepts and ideas with a more experience. And I think a large part of what holds alot of people back is the idea that "ah I can't do this idea I'm not good enough." So what !! Still do it, I most certainly did it a couple years ago when I barely scribbled my ideas. And then you can totally go back and redraw it ! no "Rule" saying you can't go back and revisit your ideas, like hell even professional artists go back and republish their works with their improved art styles ! (ex. Tokyo Ghoul... even though I don't care for the story, it's still pretty cool! I think he even added more scenes? Anyways..). I think there was that one post going around where it was something like do it scared and that's really REALLY what you gotta do.

And that leads to my final point. You gotta love doing it. I like to make comics because I LOVE my characters, their story, and actually the act of putting it all together into a story, drawn comic, visuals, etc. And, I found my method of loving them. For me, what held me back was the "structure" of comics. I mean you can p much see that the way I like to do things is def not the "traditional" manga/western comic book style right? I won't go as far to say that I "made up this way" of comic making where it's one panel at a time but it certainly worked for me. (I have no idea how many comic wips I have collecting dust in my folders from my earilier days of making this comic where I just gave up 20% of the way in because I really could not vibe with the formatting, but then I figured out I really like to "thumbnail" comics (a result of when I was studying storyboards alot imo) and I went on from there).

This is where I feel like alot of people get stuck too. Where they really do like their ideas, their character, their stories and such, but as soon as they try and go through the process of creating in a certain way... the wind is just instantly taken out of their sails. And while I do believe sometimes you just gotta push through and do it anyways, sometimes that's not the right method to go about it. So instead of brute forcing a method of creation and eventually forming a bad relationship with the process, find a method that works for you. And maybe it doesn't look all that great or good compared to others, but that comes in time and as long as you like doing it, that's what really matters at the end of the day.

Tl;dr: be a lil freak, and lil weird about what you do (this applies to everything, not only art :3)

Don't have a specific question but would love to hear you ramble about mr reca. he's a fav of mine and i wanna know your thoughts

I would absolutely love to yap and yammer about Mr. Reca. I will preface this by saying that I haven't played HSR since the start of 1.1 [though I did log in to claim Ratio], so a lot of my understanding of this game comes from trying to keep up with the lore and watching playthroughs (shoutout to MurderofBirds). I do plan to start playing again at some point, but everything I have heard about the powercreep has kept me away LMAO.

Anyway here's some Reca thoughts for you my dearest Techno :]

One of my favourite things about Mr Recas' character is the fact that in the 2.6 trailer [and really when you first meet him] he's portrayed as this unhinged antagonistic figure. I know a lot of people, myself included, thought he was going to be evil or at least "bad" but then you play the game and he just fucking isn't LMAO

He definitely is unhinged and probably snorting fifty lines of crack cocaine a day but Reca really does seem like someone who is - or at the very least was - pretty sweet. He seems to hold a strong regard for and hope in humanity, as shown in the 2.6 quest.

"Sometimes I get hit by sudden hunches that a great film is in the making. More often than not, these tend to be just scenes from different groups of people that are edited together. Most of the characters in this film aren't what you would call protagonists. You don't really get to see the full character arcs of them, but they still have a light in their hearts that can save humanity's soul. What do these people really need when they have lost everything? Guidance from the wise? Or aid from the strong? I'd say neither. All they need is a camera to capture them. That's when others would be able to see the most wonderful show in the entire universe." - Mr. Reca talking to Boothill in regards to saving Dreamflux Reef.

Another thing I am reaaaally interested in regarding Mr. Reca is his past. Like we know that memokeepers shed their mortal shells and whatnot in order to become what they are; they lose their physical body, their names, and so on. But with Reca it seems like his depersonalisation existed before even becoming a memokeeper. When he says that he "decided long ago he'd die for his art" it almost sounds like he's giving the reason for why he become a memokeeper, which is so ??? What on earth happened to him for him to become that obsessed with his craft, that fixated on playing a role, and is his madness a byproduct of it or the reason for it? Maybe nothing happened and he's just Like That™️

Either way alot of his character seems to have been pushed aside in favour of being a director/actor and on top of that his only real companion seems to be his Assistant Director, which we can assume he made. It's like he doesn't exist outside of this role, or at least what does exist beyond the director simply isn't important [I'm aware he can't interact in the same way others can due to fear of being terminated but still].

Hoyo I really need you to share the depths of loneliness and madness he has and why please I will pay big money for this.

I also think the idea of a Mr. Reca capturing memories and moments through film making is sooooo fucking neat. It's such a fun thing to play into and I can't wait to see how that translates into his gameplay should he ever be made playable. I really hope his action skill is just throwing Miss Assistant Director at the enemy because it paints such a funny mental image.

And this isn't even mentioning how gorgeous his character design is. The hair, the eyes, the constant :3 face. Recas' coat is so fucking stupid that it circles around to being the coolest thing ever.

I have a lot of other thoughts but they're all bordering on platonic/romantic relationships, so I'll save that for another post 🤔 regardless feel free to send in more asks about him should you so desire :]

The very first was 006, or "Six". All the way back in Sep 2021, I had the idea of creating a shapesona. At the time I had certain.. feelings, about JSB and my identity surrounding it. I definitely see those feelings represented in the character now.

Six is a professional JSB player in a world where the game is in AR. They're reclusive, obsessive. Attention seeking. And they dance. Oh, they dance until they no longer can.

Some of you had the chance of talking with them on April Fools of 2022; I liked that. It was very fun to write them, and I wish I could do it again. Maybe in the form of their own roleplay/ask blog, just like I always intended.

Second persona is a character I've nicknamed "Sunny."

I started a continuation of a previously failed project under a pseudonym, a persona. It wasn't until Jun 2021 when I gave that persona her design... I think it helps when I'm writing as them.

There's currently not much character story to them, other than she exists in the same world as Six. She gets burnout often but never gives up. It's not over til it's over.

I'm sure you've seen a certain one of my projects so far. Maybe it was obvious from the beginning, maybe it just clicked now, or you're still lost. Those who know, I want you to know this aswell: I'm not being sneaky, I'm just anxious. When I'm tired of pretending and gain the confidence to put my face on these projects, I do plan on just using them as the mascot.

They currently have no real name (idk you can call them my ingame name "GUAC" lol,) but for records sake I've been using "Pae-ki". I first drew them up in Oct 2023, around when I first played The Fangame.

They are just, me! Lover of 'Close to Me', unreasonable hater of 'First Crush', and protector of triangle players. An "OG god" as some say. (I'm not sure what else to say that isn't just me talking about myself. idk, I still play Challenge Runs, come join me on NSwitch or Steam)

I'm still working on their design.. I wanted to incorporate mementos from all the JSB-like things I got to do. They were always going to have a crown.

youre so right about narration!! i could go on all day really, its the biggest thing for me that takes a fic from good to great, especially with characters like j- characters with a persona of sorts, characters that lie to themselves or are in denial, or characters with a lot they need to sort through, and j is sort of all three in some capacity. i cannot wait for hostile takeover to update! if you ever decide to try writing a fic id love to give it a read! ive noticed you have a lot of interesting ideas about characters and their dynamics through your fanart, something i think could translate to writing well. you also clearly have an understanding of what makes a fic good- though i know from experience its often easier said than done. still, id love to see you try! this is actually my first time rp-ing canon characters, ever. right now im playing j (thanks hostile takeover) in a discord server, though i might try n soon because i reaaallly struggle with characterizing him. ive been roleplaying my whole life really! i started with roblox warrior cats though... im shuddering with you id kill for more dollxn art from you though. no pressure but you get them it seems. its been a while since i listened to final girl but its definitely their song suggestive lyrics or not i hope they die and go to robo-hell together <3 - juzi anon

I've read alotta fics in my time on the internet and honestly? I don't think I've ever read a fic that hooked me on a character narration quite like Hostile Takeover's J. J's awareness of every part of what shes doing and how shes doing it makes it even more subtle when you realize that despite all of that, she has so little awareness over what she thinks. Like she doesn't question it. Uzi's narration makes a point to show how she censors her own thoughts, she doesn't allow her mind to wander to certain parts of the past, shes completely aware of how some thoughts sound and decides against saying it all together. Meanwhile, J will go on and on about how much better the job would be without V's constant talking back and N's inability to do anything right, and in the same paragraph be constantly thinking about the argument with V, and what got V so messed up to begin with. J is like a rock, a precipice of confidence. But the moments where she doesn't know what to do, (like when she thought she was going to die in that church tower from the rising sun) its almost like she has to put on appearances even in a moment where shes completely panic-ed, that she still somehow has to pretend she knows what shes doing, even with no one around. Its why the fic made me rethink J in general, I've loved J for while but Hostile Takeover was the first time I actually was able to SEE what J could be as a character story. It really puts into perspective how important narration can be in telling a damn good story. (Sorry this became a J paragraph. I could analyze fics for the rest of my life and be happy lol)

Haha maybe one day I'll finally sit down and write. I'm not really the greatest at translating my thoughts to text, for some reason its easier for me to illustrate my feelings about a character then to write it out. The only reason I can draw fanart like that is because I analyze these characters to death lol. Looking at all the angles of two characters and then asking the question of 'what would it take for them to be on friendly terms' is a pass time I indulge it frequently!!!! Thats why I like rarepairs, sometimes they're dynamics are alot more unique than most, even if they're 2 characters that have never once canonically interacted (which is my favorite. Alot more creative thinking with that one yknow?) Still, maybe I'll get to it :O (prolly would practice writing analysis post first. because I always have to stop myself from doing it on other posts XP)

I've also grew up on roleplaying (my brother is into roleplaying and that got me started on it lol) used to roleplay on roblox even before I could read (which. isn't a joke actually. who gives a 5 year old unrestricted internet access???) funnily enough I can't even say I ever completely grew out of it, I still visit alot of roleplay maps on roblox (including WCUE!! never actually roleplayed there but I think its fun to spec) but mainly I used to roleplay on animal-based mmos like FeralHeart in my younger days.

Iffff,,, I could say anything about N's character,,, to hopefully help inspire some ability to write him (and sorry this gets its own paragraph) I would probably say that he is a very self-destructively selfless person, whos never gotten over anything or anyone in his life (I.e when V was in stasis during their time in the manor, N constantly visited her and would draw pictures of the two of them together ((as lizards)) and is kinda implied to have been reading books to her during this time. Even after getting 'digitally lobotomized', while N couldn't exactly remember V as he knew her back then, he still carried that affection he had for her all that time ago. He never stopped caring about V, even when he forgot) while I wouldn't describe N as in anyway 'innocent' or 'naive', N still has a habit of unconditionally caring about pretty much anybody lol. He had like, what, a 27 minute conversation with Uzi? And while it wasn't enough to completely convince him, it still was something that made him hesitate ("I really enjoyed our time together,"). And while I'm here (having mentioned Uzi) I would also say N is a very lonely character, seeing as he was often belittled by his peers (J) or in some cases completely ignored (V, but she had her reasons and thats a different discussion) a funny part of N's character is just how much he IS like Uzi. A person completely isolated by his kind because of how he is, who was never given an explanation as to why, why everyone is so oddly cruel to him. The biggest difference though being that N never fought it, he completely accepted getting knocked around if it meant he could stick around. It took someone else to point out how fucked his situation was to make him think twice about it. Uzi is the type of character to go down kicking screaming and punching(asterisk but thats also a different discussion), and N, despite being in such a similar place to her, isn't that kind of guy. While I wouldn't say N is the type to take everything lying down, there is something to say about just how much he is willing to take before getting angry, yknow? Overall, I think N is a very loving, loyal-to-a-fault, kinda guy, but his compassion for those around him is often times the reason he gets so tunnel-visioned in the first place (i.e causing explosions and throwing rocks and debris everywhere in a mass, angry panic, trying to go save V.) and its why he is so willing to get himself hurt in the first place. ("I really enjoyed our time together, but I can't have you shooting V with that thing.") (Or yknow, cutting his arm off, but thats alot less selfless-ness and alot more self destruction) His patience and understanding is one of his biggest strengths and somehow always the reason he gets hurt. Basically I think he need to go a lil insane as a treat.

((Oh its also good to note that his unconditional love for everyone around him is also the only reason why he has lived this far to begin with (the characters this includes: V, Uzi, AND Cyn.)))

I also think the above, is the reason why I enjoy NxDoll so much. it takes SO MUCH for him to hate someone and yet Doll did the one thing that would make him do it (hurting someone he cares about the most). I just knoooowwww if they saw eachother in that church it would've been ON. That fight would've taken out the whole god damn BUILDING. it would be two people fighting for the exact same fkcing reason!!! REVENGE!!! the horrible chain of trauma contuines with them!!! killing one will only leave the other with what remains!!!! And yet I also see them as two people who would really benefit from being on friendlier terms. Both becasue N's softness is just not something we ever see Doll treated with, and because Doll's avocation for justice might just be the thing N needs to get a god damn backbone for once and earn himself some self-appreciation.

But I also think its more fun when its enemies AND lovers.

They should make eachother worse <3

Hello Writeblr! After much consideration and building of courage I realize that I technically am an Indie Writer and should be more on Writeblr. So here is me renewing my Pinned Post to make it a Writeblr introduction! I am Lesbunnian, known as Bun or Ulmaria, or even more names personally (Any/All pronouns). I am 21+ and graduated college for Graphic Design. All of my writings and creative works fall under the name of Meadow of a Rabbit! Currently large stories wise I am working on 5 large works. All concept docs available on the Meadow of a Rabbit Carrd but I'll shall give brief explanations of each work and their content.

Apothecary Adagio is a Young Adult Fantasy Romance that stars Floria Faustus. A 31 year old ex-noblemon turned singer who investigates the town of Sunmire due to a high reporting of attacks by the terrorfiying creatures that roam their world, Zokaets. And how the Apothecary who owns a famous Atelier to see how they fit in the investigation.

CoLoR-LeS is an Adult Sci-Fantasy that stars Zephyr. A Blank who protects Alabaster Town within the isolated City called Void City. That after the fall of the problematic previous governing figure, the Triad, has fallen into a war between there factions trying to take over Void City: The Church of Saffron, The Knights of Amrin, and the Revolt of Caera. Zephyr who has forgotten their past but knows its their duty to protect all blanks finds themself in the middle of this conflict.

Grace of Wind is the Sequel to my already completed book, Tear of Ice. Taking place 6 years after Carmine's adventure, her friend Rio is called back home to his country of Itrora by his siblings. Only to be dragged into a conflict by the very political climate he abandoned all those years ago. With his family at stake Rio must set aside his own pride in order to protect whats more important.

Arcane Eclipse is an Adult Fantasy Story that stars Saule Alenov, a young person with an unremarkable life. A failing art career and a struggling home life, they mourn their dead friend, Gwyn with Gwyn's own father. But yet things become much more complicated than anyone could've forseen.

I am still not over Mikhailgate, btw. Even though I personally think Mikhail ships byler, alot of my mikhailgate content is willhail.

I also read KotLC, riordanverse (I've read 1-14 of chb chronicles and most of 15 and obv not Chalice yet, 1-2 Kane Chronicles, 1-3 mcga, and none of the spinoffs so far. Can't wait for the show!), and I watch The Owl House, Dragon Prince, and She-Ra 2018. I'm not as avidly in fandom for these but I like them.
