uhuhuhu... I finally finished reading my physical copy of Hunger's Bite by @ohcorny !! The setting in this book is so incredibly fun and I'm very unnormal (positive) about the character arcs. Can't waaiiit for the sequel!!!

another hot take but i really don't think tommy's "my attention?" was him thinking buck has feelings for eddie. tommy thinks buck was jealous that he was getting excluded from the friend group, because he comes to clear the air about causing bad blood and even says "[eddie] can have more than one friend." tommy doesn't fully realize what's really going on until buck says "... 'cause trying to get your attention has been exhausting," and it dawns on him that buck's jealousy wasn't about getting excluded from eddie and tommy's friendship but about eddie jeopardizing tommy's time (additionally, buck's "i guess" isn't meant to be noncommittal; he's realizing in the moment that it's true, that it really was about tommy. the way he says it feels like it's a revelation to even him). remember, buck reached out to tommy at some point prior to the events of 7x04 for the tour, but was never actually interested in leaving the 118. it was absolutely a ploy to get closer to tommy. but eddie interrupts them and pulls tommy away from buck, and buck spirals. the main issue is that buck has no idea what his feelings are doing, so he latches on to the most likely explanation to him (with further context clues that indicate that's not what it's really about) until that moment between buck and tommy in the loft. basically buck's got a crush he doesn't know how to deal with so he makes it everybody's problem.

man, imagine being called parrot and also being a parrot. you try to introduce yourself and the other person's like yeah, you are a parrot then you have to explain that your name is also parrot

i was going to make the bird on the back of his skin like, a little buddy that follows him around, but i thought it would be more interesting if he basically had like, part of an actual bird sprouting out of his back

functionally, the 'bird' is as much a part of his body as say his beak or feathers, but it does definitely give off a strange vibe if you think about it too much. don't worry about it, parrot's fine

so depending on how you look at it, he might still have a little bird buddy, kinda sorta. the red bird can't be removed from him

it functions as both a cloak and wings! they're not built for sustained flight, but they do allow him a much greater range of mobility than players that don't have wings

when he's not using his wings, they naturally wrap around his shoulders

parrot technically has two tails, the long colourful one that you can see here and a tiny blue one underneath that. the more visible one is attached to the red bird

i like to think that the arrows of a bow user can be identified by looking at the feathers on them, naturally parrot's are pretty colourful

his back talons aren't as developed as his front ones since he's gotta walk. yeah sure real parrots can and do walk, but they're meant to fly, their claws aren't made for walking long distances. he can still perch if he wants to

he's a little bit inspired by botw/totk's rito, specifically the hand wings because it felt a little bit strange to design an anthro bird with more human hands. these don't aid him in flight, they're just shaped like that

as opposed to zam who's entirely covered in smooth scales, parrot is fluffy! have you seen how soft real parrots look? give me literally any inkling that a character can be fluffy and i will take it

his vibes kinda remind me of kamex's remix of the rse surf theme. yeah it's water-related, but it's calming and parrot's kinda just like that
