I'm watching top gun Maverick for the second time this week and I have some notes:

The little hints that Mav has kept up with Rooster's life scattered throughout the beginning when he's at the hangar.

That little nod to Goose through Mav asking him to be there with him during the test flight, later parodied by Rooster asking his dad for advice during the mission.

The way Mav is just so easily picked up after his Overboard, like he quite literally goes stiff and makes it easier, this man has been picked up a time or two and you can tell

The absolute devastation in his gaze when he sees Rooster in person and Rooster reminds him of his dad.

Love Hondo and all he does for this movie.

"His exploits are legend" and Hangman looking back and just realizing how fucking screwed he is when he realizes he threw this man out of a bar yesterday.

The little cute ass "good morning" and standing awkwardly there waiting for a reply, I wanna bite him

Now we get into the fun part where Mav shows just how good he is

"This guy need an ego check" says you Hangman

This man nearly kills his recruits first second, he coulda so easily hit their wings on accident lmao

"Don't let him get to you Maverick" (don't let your pseudo son bully you, it's ok)

And now he's showing them why his exploits are legendary

Again, coulda hit his recruits

His little "come get me" while being chased by Hangman is so good

Now hangman shows he's an asshole but also that upside down maneuver turning into a REALLY dangerous game of cat and mouse.

Tbf the planes going down like that looks kinda awesome.

Mav giving Rooster a chance and some motivating words and then getting him with the cobra maneuver is just *chef's kiss*

Hey, why couldn't Maverick just TELL Rooster why he pulled his papers? Like??

"And how to come home" he's so traumatized, someone hug this man

Him having a hard deck request in his hands while being chewed out lmfao

How to know Mav needs to be in plenty of wingfics: even retired from the Navy he has his own personal plane and probably flies it more than he walks

Have gotten an addiction to seeing Rooster and Mav as a son dad duo in fics in the past day and CANNOT get over it

hello I'm back (I think)

First of all, thank you so much for the well wishes! I really appreciate it, I can't thank you enough <3

Second of all, sorry for just sort of disappearing, it will likely happen again. I hate going silent but I received unfortunate news at the start of the week and it was closely followed by freshly developed health issues. They're probably linked, but I'm going to have to battle with my GP to find out for sure.

I know I don't need to explain myself, but this post is mostly just me getting this off my chest bc I can't do it anywhere else lol.

I've started getting vision loss 'migraines'. I've always lost my vision when I got a migraine, but actually having them was very rare for me. The strangest thing is that I get no headache (which is a plus ig) with the aura, I just abruptly lose vision in my right eye. This happens with no warning and is obviously very disconcerting. I get the same hangover you'd get with a normal one and stuff, and that really throws off my bpd too as I'm sure you can imagine. I get exhausted and I can't think straight.

I also have visual snow syndrome quite badly (which for some reason I cannot for the life of me get my doctor to take seriously) and vertigo/tinnitus in bed. It gets worse when I'm tired and stressed. I have really bad memory issues too, though I think those are ptsd related. I am very concerned that these things are linked and getting worse, and they're clearly neurological. My family history is set up for failure in this department so I'm quite anxious that it could be a sign of something insidious.

Obviously, this post is just me venting and being anxious. I know there is every chance that none of these things are major problems and they're simply stress related, but I'm just yapping this into a text post here because I don't have anywhere else to do it. I'm also sort of forewarning you for if I ever don't reply to messages or anything and just go quiet suddenly.

On top of that, my family have apparently decided peace times are over and are being weird again. Not with me, thankfully, but with each other. I expect it to have a ripple effect. Things are always weird with them, but they go through a kind of 'baseline' weirdness and it can escalate to bananas weirdness very quickly. They're all incredibly manipulative awful people and I think it would be cool if they could just not do that...... I'm safe, I'm not afraid of them, but the whole debacle causes a lot of stress to me and I predict that things will get weirder as time goes on. This is another reason as to why I sometimes may just disappear.

There are a lot of other things going on rn that I haven't mentioned here because they're convoluted and too personal. Things are messy for me irl right now.

If I go very quiet/don't answer you, then I'm not being as dick I'm just busy or taking time away. On top of that, if my fics take longer than usual to update then this is why. I would appreciate not being chased for updates. You're absolutely welcome to ask me how it's going or for sneak peeks or updates, that's all absolutely fine, but just don't be asking stuff like 'when is the next chapter coming out?' or if I've only recently posted a chapter, asking me when the next one is coming. Just take it as you get it and enjoy what you have in the moment. I'm working very hard to get things done, especially with this last chapter of DD.

I looooove talking to you guys about everything so please don't worry about messaging me in general. I will reply eventually, I promise. I don't want you guys to think I'm mad at you or something lol. I am not! If I was then you can trust that I'd politely tell you :) I'm just super tired and overwhelmed, and I prefer to stay offline when I get like that.

Anyways on the plus side I found a cool new j-horror series (Documentary Q) and am working on the next MtB instalment! So we ball i guess! Also it was sunny in the UK for like two days so that's nice. I hope everyone is well <3

i'm the loquacious persuasion anon, wow thank you so much for your response! you're a lot more succinct than me, sorry...

to be clear, i love lady russell!! i'm firmly with you in the pro-lady russell camp. i just think her snobbishness and classism are real, which (again) is very fair for a woman in her position and with her accomplishments and background - anne is insanely radical in her time. i do also think the novel frames the original breaking of the engagement as a tragic thwarting of young love even despite the rocky circumstances and uncertainty in wentworth's position (and i'm sure his confidence - certainly perceived to be overconfidence at the time, and was only later validated as being deserved - might've even given lady russell PTSD flashbacks to sir walter's courtship of lady elliot 😁 plus "His sanguine temper, and fearlessness of mind, operated very differently on her. She saw in it but an aggravation of the evil. It only added a dangerous character to himself. He was brilliant, he was headstrong. Lady Russell had little taste for wit, and of anything approaching to imprudence a horror." she's a very "traditional" sort of woman i think, and she'd like anne to be with a more down-to-earth man whom she sees as more "proper" - if any of this makes sense). but i see tumblr push back against that or deny it, so that's the viewpoint i came in to your ask box with.

i guess i just think wentworth's outspokenness, occupation, and salary might've been overlooked if he were of higher rank; i firmly believe, for instance, that if wentworth's family were landed gentry, lady russell would not so opposed even despite his lack of fortune. but despite all of this, as you said she was acting in what she saw as anne's best interest, and i don't think ill of her for it. on the contrary she becomes a more interesting and lovable character to me, and we are told that by the end she is fully accepting of anne and frederick wentworth's marriage so all's well that ends well 😌 oh and you're right that wentworth was holding a grudge of course! the novel practically tells us as much. but i disagree that it was some kind of eight-year long revenge spiral on the level of poseidon seething about odysseus for 10 years or something, i think he hardly had the time or opportunity to think of anne with anything but passing sadness in those 8 years (he was in a war after all) and it's only upon seeing her again that he gets angry - so what i meant was that i can't think of "grudge-bearing" as a core or consistent trait for him, because his anger was aroused again in such a specific situation for a very specific person. that's why i don't think he would've had sufficient reason to write her again 2 years later either, who's to say she wouldn't cite the same reasons and reject him again? but taking that unlikely chance anyway would've made them both happier for sure..

one more thing - i realized i misremembered benwick and fanny harville's relationship in my original ask, they were actually only engaged, not properly married, my bad :) thanks again for your reply and commentary, it was a great read.

So unfortunately, I have to disagree about Wentworth again, because there is a pretty strong implication in the novel that Wentworth did think about Anne those eight years and that it made him braver/riskier than otherwise and perhaps actually brought his success. Which again, makes it very hard to predict what would have happened if he and Anne had been engaged.

Firstly, the way he thinks about Anne, he's always been comparing other women to her: He had been most warmly attached to her, and had never seen a woman since whom he thought her equal; but, except from some natural sensation of curiosity, he had no desire of meeting her again. Her power with him was gone for ever. (Lol, liar who lies to his own self)

And then here, where he talks about how he was eager to be at sea and to make money, but without a wife to share it with:

“I felt my luck, Admiral, I assure you;” replied Captain Wentworth, seriously. “I was as well satisfied with my appointment as you can desire. It was a great object with me at that time to be at sea; a very great object, I wanted to be doing something.” (he had just been rejected and it makes him want employment) “Ah! those were pleasant days when I had the Laconia! How fast I made money in her. A friend of mine and I had such a lovely cruise together off the Western Islands. Poor Harville, sister! You know how much he wanted money: worse than myself. He had a wife. Excellent fellow. I shall never forget his happiness. He felt it all, so much for her sake. I wished for him again the next summer, when I had still the same luck in the Mediterranean.” (Ch 8)

And again: “That is the woman I want,” said he. “Something a little inferior I shall of course put up with, but it must not be much. If I am a fool, I shall be a fool indeed, for I have thought on the subject more than most men.”

And then the letter: Dare not say that man forgets sooner than woman, that his love has an earlier death. I have loved none but you. Unjust I may have been, weak and resentful I have been, but never inconstant.

It seems to me like he thought about it quite a lot. I do see him as a grudge holder.

Is it possible to do one of Dragon King being protective of S/O and his child? Kaiju Edition?

Apologies for this taking so long! I basically write this every time I get to a request uuuugh I'm terrible lol but I genuinely enjoy writing these çwç I might've done too much research for this one shot, but it was so fun to write once I knew what I wanted to do! Hope you enjoy!

My Family

Ever since Dragon King had lost to Monkey King and had been stuck as a Kaiju, he never thought he’d be able to have any semblance of a family, and yet here he was now, with the beautiful (y/n) as his spouse and an adorable child they’d adopted and that he loved as his own.

He’d do anything for them, even going against Immortals if it came to it.

What he wasn’t aware of, was that in the depths of the sea, something was stirring, slowly breaking free from his prison: Tuolong, the ninth son of the Jing River’s Dragon, imprisoned there for his defiance, had awakened, and was looking for any way to prove how much of a threat he could be, especially to his sea-dwelling uncles, one of which was Ao Guang himself.

Tuolong wasn’t stupid however, he knew he needed a plan of action first, and also more power. Instead of attacking right away he scoured the seas, looking for artifacts that could’ve aided him in his conquest, among which his old bronze club, the weapon that had accompanied him in his younger years, and that he could finally hold in his grasp once more.

Tuolong would then disguise himself as a vagabond, and eavesdrop on conversations to learn what had been going on during the years of total isolation in his prison.

Apparently, his second uncle, Dragon King, had lost a battle against Sun Wukong, the Monkey King.

Ao Guang had been forced to retreat, and right now it seemed like he was attempting to rebuild his kingdom along with his partner and child. That sounded like the perfect opportunity to establish himself as the new ruler of the Eastern Sea! Surely his subjects wouldn’t mind the change after their old king had been defeated by a monkey.

“And I have just the perfect plan on how to do it… just you wait, uncle…”

DRIINNGG!!

The alarm clock in the royal bedroom rang, signaling the beginning of a new day.

(Y/n) slowly opened their eyes, stretching their body and in turn waking up their husband.

Ever since Ao Guang had gotten stuck as a Kaiju, (y/n) had picked up the habit of sleeping in his neck fur, which was undoubtedly the comfiest and most soothing place to be at all times, especially since Ao Guang hadn’t stopped taking extremely good care of himself despite his size.

“Hmm… good morning, my precious…” the Dragon King whispered softly, caressing (y/n)’s head with one finger, waiting for his morning kiss.

(Y/n) giggled softly, leaning a bit into his surprisingly light touch, and then swimming up to his nose, giving him a couple nuzzles, before kissing it. “Good morning, my love… slept well?”

“With you by my side? Always.” The King purred, his slit pupils dilating with delight at the kiss.

He loved these little moments with (y/n), where they could both be calm and cuddly with each other, though predictably, it’d be soon cut short by a third presence in the room.

He felt two tiny hands tugging on his massive tail, and soon a small voice spoke. “Come onnnn dad! Get up!” It was his beloved child. Today was a special day; the day where (child/n) and (y/n) usually went out to explore together, so of course they were super excited and impatient to get their day started.

Ao Guang chuckled softly and sat up with a little grunt. “Alright, my little sea monkey… it should almost be time for breakfast anyway.” He replied, watching as (y/n) swam down to pick up their kid and greet them with a small nuzzle as well. He sighed, unable to hold back a smile; they were such a loving parent.

After breakfast, (y/n) and their child got dressed up and ready to leave, accompanied by a guard, but as usual, Dragon King was worried about them. (Y/n) used to be a commoner, they weren’t used to the attention royals got quite yet; he felt like sometimes they didn’t realize that.

“Did you remember to take the enchanted water with you, honey?” The King asked, bumbling nervously, standing just before the doorway.

(Y/n) chuckled, taking a small bottle out of their robes. “I always keep it with me, you worrywart… nothing’s going to happen, we’ll be back in two hours like always! Right, sweetie?”

“Yeah! Right on the dot!” The little sea toddler replied, holding (y/n)’s hand.

Ao Guang sighed, trying to chase his worries away. Was he really being a worrywart? He just didn’t want his family to get in trouble-

“Okay, okay… but don’t you dare be late!” He said, trying to sound authoritative… and failing. He had no problem being harsh with his guards, but when it came to his family he always went extremely soft.

(Y/n) smiled and swam up to kiss him, “I promise we won’t,” they said with a smile, before swimming out of the castle with the guard and their child, who waved at their dad with a wide grin on their face.

The Dragon King waved back, before going back to his study to deal with his kingly duties, which had nearly doubled in amount after he’d begun rebuilding his kingdom.

Things would soon take a turn for the worst however, as Tuolong had been lying in wait. He’d seen Ao Guang’s spouse and their child leave the castle, and the guard accompanying them didn’t look particularly strong either. It was the perfect opportunity, even easier than stealing candy from a baby!

He struck before the trio could even reach their destination, faster than a barracuda, he snuck behind (y/n), hitting them with his bronze club and rendering them unconscious.

It all happened so suddenly, one moment (child/n) was holding their parent’s hand, and the next they were both constricted by a snake-like tail, (y/n)’s body going limp from the blow to their head.

The guard realized what was going on a moment too late, turning around as he heard the kid’s cries, pointing his lance towards the enemy; but as soon as he saw how large and menacing Tuolong was, he felt his webbed hands tremble, barely able to hold onto his flimsy lance.

Tuolong grinned and laughed wickedly, “is this the best guard my uncle could hire?! Taking over is going to be even more of a joke!” He bellowed, his voice loud enough to cover up (child/n)’s cries as they writhed and tried to shake their parent’s body awake.

The River Dragon grabbed the guard’s lance, dragging him closer to his snout. “Here’s what you’re gonna do now… you’ll swim back to your sorry excuse of a king… and tell him that if he wants to see his family again- he’d better hand the Eastern Sea to me!” He hissed, throwing the guard to the side as soon as he vigorously started nodding his head.

Once that was over, he swam back to his retreat. Everything was going accordingly, he would not fail.

“You let him do WHAT?!”

“P-p-p-please have mercy, your majesty!!” The guard begged, every bone in his fishy body shaking. “W-we were ambushed! And he overpowered us and-”

The Dragon King hissed furiously “One more excuse for this failure, AND YOU’LL BE THE FIRST COURSE FOR MY NEXT FEAST!!!”

The guard squealed in terror, “I-I beg you, a-a-anything but that!! I-I’ll send out a search team right away!”

“You’ve already done ENOUGH! If you incompetent lot manage to get spotted by Tuolong, he might hurt (y/n) and (child/n), I’ll handle this…” The King replied, clenching his fists.

Damn it all, why was this happening? Why did everything have to go wrong whenever he felt happy?

He swam back to his study, without paying attention to whatever his large tail may have been knocking over. He really had to think this through, even if in his heart the answer was clear already…

Ao Guang could never put his kingdom above his family. (Y/n) was the reason he’d found the confidence to come back as king in the first place, and their child brightened his days like nothing else. He could live without his position as king, but he couldn’t give up the people he loved the most.

“If only I knew where they were being kept…”

(Y/n) regained consciousness, sitting up with a light grunt; they looked down, noticing their child sleeping right against them. “W-where are we? (Child/n)? Are you okay?” They whispered softly, caressing their head, waking them up from their light slumber.

“M-mom/Dad…?” (Child/n) mumbled. They looked up at their parent, their eyes quickly filling up with tears as they buried their face into (y/n)’s chest and they started crying. “I-it was so scary!! A-an evil dragon hit you a-and then– then he took us away, and you were sleeping and I was scared!!” They managed to say between sobs, their little arms wrapping around (y/n) for safety.

(Y/n) widened their eyes, immediately picking up their child and holding them tight, “oh, no no… don’t cry, it’s going to be okay… I’m okay now, I’m awake… don’t be scared, I’m sure dad will find us…” They whispered, although they themselves had no idea where this place was. It looked like a cave of some sort, right on the seashore, unfortunately, thick iron bars were keeping them from reaching the water.

Where was their kidnapper? What was he planning to do with them?

“I want dad…” (Child/n) sniffled, hugging (y/n) even tighter.

“I know sweetie, I know… he’ll be here soon, I’m sure.” (Y/n) muttered, cradling their child in their arms, when suddenly a menacing laughter echoed as Tuolong emerged from the water.

“Oh, don’t worry… he will be… once he hands over his kingdom, you three can be a little happy family again!” Tuolong grinned.

(Y/n) widened their eyes. “Hand over his kingdom? He’ll never do that! You’re a fool if you think that’s the case!” They shouted, while their child hid behind their robes for protection.

“We’ll see about that… but if I were you, I’d be hoping he does hand over it all, otherwise… you’ll be paying the consequences.” The river dragon chuckled, grabbing (y/n)’s face roughly through the bars, before throwing them back and disappearing into the water again.

(Y/n) groaned, holding their face. “Curse you…” They muttered under their breath, before turning back to (child/n), who was shivering in fear.

They picked them up again.

“We’ll be okay… That dragon’s only advantage is that dad doesn’t know where we are… but if we can find a way to alert him, then everything will be okay!”

“B-but how are we gonna do that?” Their child whimpered, hiding their face into (y/n)’s chest again.

(Y/n) thought about it, until the answer came to them. “The water… We’re right near the shore, we can call him!” They whispered with a grin, taking out the small bottle of enchanted water from their robes. Luckily it was still intact. “Just one drop will be enough.”

(Child/n) looked as their parent carefully stretched their arm out of the iron bars, just enough to have one drop of the bottle’s contents fall into the sea water, slowly taking the form of their dad. He didn’t seem to notice them at first; too distressed to even realize he was being called.

“Dad! Dad!!”

The Dragon King flinched, and looked up, widening his eyes as he saw his spouse and child.

“(Y/n)! (Child/n)!! Oh thank the gods you’re okay! That rotten Tuolong- I swear if he’s laid a single finger on either of you”

“Don’t worry, he hasn’t hurt us.” (Y/n) assured him.

Ao Guang sighed in relief, “Do you know where he’s keeping you? If I get there in time- I might be able to rescue you… I’m sorry, this all happened because I wasn’t there with you…”

“Don’t blame yourself, my love. I lowered my guard despite your warnings about being careful… sadly I don’t know where we are exactly… I was unconscious for the whole trip.” (Y/n) explained, looking down.

“I-I know where we are!” (Child/n) suddenly chimed in, “I saw… a biiiiig rock full of pink and purple corals while he was bringing us here-”

“Pink and purple corals…? You’re on the shores near the coral reef?” Dragon King asked, very proud of his child for being able to keep their head straight in such a stressful situation.

The child nodded, “I-I think so, yes!” They replied, clinging to (y/n)’s robes, “Please come quick, dad… I’m really scared…”

“Don’t worry my little sea monkey, I’ll-”

Suddenly, a club crashed into the water, interrupting the connection.

“Hmmm I thought I heard another voice here…” Tuolong said menacingly, emerging from the water. “Did you think I wouldn’t notice?! That you were being sly?! Even if he can find you, what’s that ‘pool noodle’ of my uncle going to do against me, huh?!” He hissed, opening the prison’s door and grabbing (y/n) by the robes. “Maybe he should find you… so he can watch you suffer…”

(Y/n) grunted as Tuolong’s webbed fingers wrapped around their throat.

“L-let my mom/dad go!!” (Child/n) shouted, charging at the river dragon, only to be grabbed by his tail. They squirmed and punched it with their tiny fists as Tuolong tightened his grip.

“N-no!! Please, s-stop!!” (Y/n) begged, their voice choked up with panic as they tried to breathe despite Tuolong’s fingers pressing down on their larynx. “D-don’t hurt them–”

The river dragon smirked, “oh, don’t worry… I’m just going to teach them a lesson…” he growled.

Then a raindrop fell on his nose, and another… and another.

“Rain?” He muttered, looking out to the sea just in time to see Ao Guang’s gigantic form emerge from the water, his eyes red with fury.

The Dragon King took one look at Tuolong and roared into his face, making him let out a high-pitched scream and let go of both (y/n) and their child.

“D-DAD!!” (Child/n) shouted, while (y/n) took them to the back of their cell, knowing a fight was going to break out soon.

“D-dad?!” Tuolong repeated, all his bravado seemingly melting away. That was Ao Guang? His uncle?! How had he made himself so big?! As far as he knew, only Immortals could do that-

“Tuolong…” Ao Guang spoke, his voice echoing loudly.

"H-heeeey uncle! Long time no see! Didn’t know you’d been working out in these last few years!” The river dragon laughed nervously.

“I’m not in the mood for your jokes, Tuolong!!” The Dragon king shouted, slapping his nephew out of the cave with a single swat of a hand, knocking him back into the water.

Tuolong reemerged, holding his bronze club. Sure, his uncle was huge now, but he wasn’t going to lose, not after all he’d done. “Well, you should’ve thought about it before you and Ao Run locked me up in that prison for DECADES!!” he cried, striking back, jumping out of the water at extreme speeds and swinging his weapon.

Ao Guang caught it and flung him back. “You know EXACTLY why we had to do it, you were misusing your powers!” He replied, his anger growing as he watched his nephew bounce right back. The weather kept changing, thunder and lightning roaring in the sky above, loudly enough that even the Immortals were alerted, and began watching the fight from their realm.

“You did the same!! You’ve hurt more people than I did! And yet you were NEVER punished! Just because you’re a king! It’s not fair!!” Tuolong continued, attempting to land a hit again and succeeding this time around, the power of his bronze club managing to knock even Ao Guang a few feet back.

“Ngh! I WAS punished for it! But I learned my lesson! I’ve left those ways in the PAST!” Ao Guang argued back, finally managing to get a hold of Tuolong, his fist tightening around him as he writhed. “And it’s all thanks to my family. So if you ever… EVER aim for them again- I WON’T hesitate to kill you!”

“I-I won’t, I won’t!! I promise!” Tuolong pleaded, his spirit deflating again.

“Good… I’d better never see you again… UNDERSTOOD?!” Ao Guang bared his teeth, feeling a presence up above. His eyes shifted for a moment, and he noticed a crack in the clouds… he knew what that meant.

“Yes, YES I GOT IT!!” Tuolong whimpered, feeling his uncle’s arm slowly begin to rotate. “W-wait, what are you doing?!”

“I’m sending you to a place where you DEFINITELY won’t bother us anymore!” He yelled, throwing Tuolong up into the sky, hard enough to hit one of the inner walls of the Jade Emperor’s palace.

The Immortal yelped as soon as he saw the river dragon being flung into his room, getting stuck onto the wall like a piece of modern art.

“Aw come on! I just had that wall painted!” The Jade Emperor huffed.

“Oops!” Ao Guang chuckled, feeling much calmer now, “Sorry, sir!”

The Jade Emperor narrowed his eyes, but soon sighed, “you’ve done this to protect your family, so I’ll forgive you this time…” He replied, a slight smile spreading across his face. The Dragon King had truly made some good progress ever since Sun Wukong beat him. “I’ll be taking care of Tuolong’s situation myself, but don’t make throwing people who are giving you trouble into my palace a habit!” The emperor added, feigning offense, before closing up the clouds again.

Ao Guang smiled, and he let the water submerge him again as the skies cleared up and the sea’s waves returned to normal. He looked inside the cave and was immediately greeted by both (y/n) and his child running at him and hugging his face.

“Dad!! You won!!”

“I’m so happy you’re here, my love…”

All that love had the big Kaiju’s cheeks blushing a deep purple. “I-I told you I’d find you…” He smiled, picking up (y/n) and (child/n), making his way back into the sea.

“When our connection suddenly fell, I got so worried I immediately started swimming- guess… being this big lets you cover certain distances much faster, huh?” The king tried joking a bit, to lighten the mood.

“I’m so happy you’re both safe… I’ll never let anything this awful happen to you two ever again, I swear on my life.” He whispered, lightly hugging them and letting them rest against his neck fur. “Let’s go home now… I think we’ve had enough adventures for one day.”

Chapter 5: Are...?

note: Copy and pasting this from my wattpad. This was the first fanfiction I ever wrote (started 2022 or so). I know it's bad, you do not need to remind me. I'm posting this here because I want my writing backed up on as many platforms as possible. I write better now, I can assure you of that. A few weeks have passed since that uh... yeah you know what I mean! I grabbed my sweats and headed out. Today Ena and Mizuki decided to have some coffee all together, again. I walked on the street making sure I didn't step on any cracks on the floor. How would I talk to Mafuyu after that talk we had on nightcord? This feeling makes my stomach stir. Mafuyu did nothing wrong, and if she does love someone else, fuck it, she's happier with them probably. Plus, it's not like she would leave our friend/music group for that, right? I just ca- and bam, I had walked into a tree, again. I stopped focusing on that and started focusing on getting to that cafe, then bit later, I arrived late as usual.

"hey guys" I mumbled.

"aha there you are K!" Ena exclaimed. "we were waiting for you, ready to order?"

"oh uhm yeah sure!" I added.

We all ordered something off the menu, Ena and Mizuki obviously choosing the most detailed things while Mafuyu and I took something simple. Wait Mafuyu! I almost forgot, was she ok? I glanced at her, noticing some bandages on her arms. Did someone hurt her? Did she have an accident? Suddenly I was stuck my head trying to figure it out. What if she... no... would she?

"Earth to Kanade? Earth to Kanade?" I faintly heard.

"huh what?!" I answered.

"damn Kanade are you ok? You seem to be zoning out more than usual." Mizuki asked concerned.

"uh no no I'm doing fine" I lied. I couldn't tell them that I was thinking about the love of my life.

"Sure.." Ena stared at me.

"Well anyways, me and Ena wanted to...announce something" Mizuki peeped. "Ena and I are..."

"Are..?" Mafuyu questioned.

"officially dating!" Ena announced.

"Hey I was gonna say it!" Mizuki complained.

"You were too slow!" Ena hissed.

"Guys guys calm down, that's great!" I cheered. "When did you guys start dating?"

"After that chat on nightcord we both chatted privately and that somehow lead to us going out the next day" Mizuki explained.

"Then we became tipsy and we kinda just blurted out all our secrets." Ena muttered.

"Haha that makes sense" Mafuyu laughed.

"AHEM" Mizuki said

"Anyways let's get to the point" Ena added to make sure Mizuki didn't murder anyone. "Mizuki and I wanna tell the others from the other sekais about it." Ena exclaimed.

"So we are gonna throw a huge sleepover party in the school sekai since the other sekais are either too loud or don't have much to do" Mizuki added. "And yes I have already texted Saki about it, don't worry Ena"

"Phew that's a relief" Ena exhaled.

"But wait, why did you tell us then?" Mafuyu asked.

"Come on guys, y'all are our girls! Of course we would tell you first." Mizuki cheered.

"Also HOW DID YOU GUYS GET TIPSY?!?!?" I shouted.

"Kanade SHHHH, let's not worry about that now..." Ena replied.

And just like that, Mizuki and Ena were together. We (mostly Ena and Mizuki) planned the party, there was gonna be boardgames, video games and more. Of course, they wanted to have one of those cheesy games like spin the bottle and 7 minutes in heave- wait SEVEN MINUTES IN HEAVEN?!?!?

"Yeah what about it K? You scared?" Ena smirked.

"I am not scared!" I hissed. "Plus I don't even like anyone!"

It was at that moment that Ena and Mizuki looked at me with the 'don't fuck with us' stare and I immediately changed my behaviour. I swear those idiots are scary sometimes...

In the end we just tried to predict who would take whom in the closet for 7 minutes in heaven. Mizuki predicted that Rui would take Tsukasa (trust me I don't know why either). Ena predicted that Emu would take her plush with her as a joke which led to Mizuki and Ena betting on it. Mafuyu said that she thinks Minori would take Haruka and I... honestly don't know. I 100% think that Ena and Mizuki are gonna stay more than 7 minutes in the closet though.

After an hour and a half of planning, we had a 'normal' conversation. Just talking about normal things. But then I realised that this was my chance to ask Mafuyu what happened to her arms, so I asked her

Mafuyu

"Hey Mafuyu, not to be nosy but, what happened to your arm?" Kanade asked concerned.

I snapped back to reality, shit, how was I going to tell her? I mean I kind of did that BECAUSE OF HER...

"Oh uhmm, well" I cut myself off as I felt her holding my arm and examining it. As she held and inspected it I felt butterflies in my chest. Her just holding me gave me a sense of comfort, it was nice.

"So what happened?" Mizuki asked with a worried face.

"I... I'd rather not say." I mumbled.

"Hey Mafuyu, you aren't hurting yourself right?" Kanade questioned as her eyes got bigger.

"I..."

And boom, the tears started to come out. Just a little nudge can make me pop. I feel so stupid. Ena immediately stood up and wrapped her arms around me. Mizuki gave me pats on the shoulder and Kanade looked like she was about to cry as well. I wonder why...

"I'm sorry guys I didn't want to make your announcement turn into my shitty problems" I cried.

"No Mafuyu it was my fault, I should have asked you in a more appropriate time" Kanade exclaimed. "But Mafuyu, if you don't wanna tell us why today, we'll wait, we'll wait 3 years if we have to."

"Exactly! We are here for you Yuki." Mizuki agreed. A few seconds later Ena nodded still comforting me.

Just Kanade saying that made my heart flutter, my face was suddenly very hot and Ena thought I also had a fever and got worried. I assured her that I was fine. They tried to lift my spirits and we all started laughing, these people really know me huh. I thanked them for the support and congratulated the new pair once again. Now it was time to wait for the day of the party to come.

i mean. whats the moral ground on gen ai if it 100% IS genuinely home programmed as claimed?

i admittedly am not a programmer, i don't know how much work it'd realistically take to create something like that on your own or what other stuff it might be referencinging & take from but i remember hearing that the program being used for the smp took like. 7 yearsish to develop as a passion project?? which at least would predate chatgpt's public release in 2022 by about 4.

i guess the real question for me personally would then be what was the AIs training material. if its all original or public domain, then (beyond ecological impact lol) i dont..... see an ethical issue ig? idk, whats your take?

okayyyy okay hang on i'll pull out my notes on ethical concerns with AI and put that all below the cut, it got a bit long (but TLDR for whats under there: i don't think the ethical concerns are as significant in this case if the one source we have is true. it is just one source tho)

but honestly my main gripe with it right now is just that i dont like it 😭 i think watching a streamer talk to NPCs that sound like AI isnt interesting. i think NPCs immediately forgetting relationships theyre building with characters is predictable as hell and frustrating to watch. i think the similar tones and mannerisms with every NPC is boring. i respect the difficulty of making that on one's own but that doesn't really make me like it any better im afraid!

(and ye, ik, if i don't like it i can just not engage. which is what im doing! i closed stream and im just going to tune into other things LMAO im just complaining on my own little blog away from maintags)

i want to disclaim i'm not an authority on this at all, i don't know what theyre using over on misadventures smp, my knowledge on this is limited to what i've been studying at uni

anyway over my notes. the key ethical issues we're usually looking at with genAI and LLMs in general:

the data being input into the model can really affect the results. we've seen genai have preference towards male, white people in many cases, as well as other privileged groups, that's not rlly news. with this smp, if the data was all prewritten or at least checked by the programmers, this shouldnt turn up as an issue and - tmk - it doesn't really have scope to in this smp

data privacy is a pretty big issue, as well as scraping data without consent. re: the previous point tho, that would theoretically not be an issue here, awesome stuff

this isn't something brought up a lot in online discussions, but there is a social impact to using ai that's aiming to be convincingly human. i don't reallllly think the npcs are very convincing, so it's unlikely to affect the streamers and probably most of the audience and therefore i really dont think this should be a huge issue. like, here i'm talking the effects of anthropomorphising machines and the unintentional spread of misinformation, but the NPCs seem solidly . fake. if that makes sense. and im assuming here that the audience is mature enough to understand that (tho idk? does a youtube audience skew younger than a twitch chat? in that case it might be different)

misuse of ai for the purpose of misinfo doesn't rlly apply here i think, they're just doing minecraft, so i'm ruling that out

these models are usually a black box in terms of how they work, so it's hard to see if there Are issues. i genuinely have no idea how this specific program works because it seems the only source is one of martyn's streams, and i don't really expect him to get into the details of how it was programmed or whether the model functions as a black box like most genai. idk on this one

environmental impact.. i mean this one is pretty frequently talked about LMAO and this post (which i received from a reply, ty o7) about what martyn said claims that the data pool isnt large enough to cause environmental concern. with such a small userbase (aka just the server members) im willing to believe both the training + use dont have such a massive impact on the environment, especially when we're already looking at an industry thats based on streaming video in high quality over the internet, like that's already an significant environmental impact in itself is it not?

i guess there's an element of replacing humans with AI here. uh - this is a tricky one to speak on, because in the end i'm not qualified to decide if an smp is unethical because they're using genai (or similar) rather than employing people to play NPCs. goodness knows hiring people for non-streamed roles hasn't always worked out (qsmp had a lot of issues with this, and that's well-documented on this site). this one's beyond my scope a bit tho, i do computer ethics more than workplace ethics, but i do think that's a conversation worth having too

finally, the question of "hey, is this stealing from artists/writers?". if what's been said by martyn is true, it doesn't sound like it! in which case, fantastic!

okay now i've gone through all my notes, theyre not rlly comprehensive for every genai issue but that's all im willing to get into atp. idk i do want to go back and watch this martyn stream since it's The Only Source rn so im turning off rbs on this post bc i dont want this post going anywhere until i actually have facts LMAO i just wanted to answer this ask for now

quick note on it taking 7 years: i think that doesn't rule out the possibility that this is still a form of generative AI. 7 years is an interesting length of time, and i say that because that's literally when they started making GPTs! i rlly want to hear more on the devlopment of that one, but 7 years ago is when the foundations for the current LLM stuff came about (tmk? correct me if im wrong here) so i wouldn't be surprised if the end product has a lot in common. idk im just guessing about here tho bc again i really really dont know any of the technical details of their program, take that all with a grain of salt, 7 years is just a rlly specific number and i wanted to draw that connection because i dont think predating chatgpt prevents it from being pretty similar!

my whole point isn't really potentially ethical issues tho, i'm just deeply tired of seeing genai such as chatgpt or similarly trained models everywhere. if nothing else, it feels distasteful, and i dont really like it LOL simple as that

Pokemon and Hunter x Hunter as decided by my friend @doodle-storm after only seeing Hunter Exam and Zoldyck Family Arcs... Part 2!!! As always friend, add onto this post if there's any reasoning I've missed!

Netero: Medicham (I think the rationale here was that despite looking a little goofy, it's actually quite strong. I think this guy is very appropriate for Netero, for reasons I can't tell my friend yet.)

Hanzo: Greninja (It's a ninja pokemon. However, my friend laments the fact that Greninja is not bald enough, nor does it have "bedazzled eyebrows". She has therefore made an entire team for Hanzo that is purely comprised of bald and bedazzled eyebrow pokemon. She took this very seriously I'll have you know.)

Pokkle: Decidueye (An archer! She hopes Pokkle gets to finish his pokedex.)

Satotz: Omanyte (I honestly can't remember the initial reasoning but they both have mustaches and no visible mouth so that's cool.)

Menchi: Dachsbun (Bread dog. As befitting a Gourmet Hunter.)

Buhara: Snorlax (Probably needs little elaboration.)

Lippo: Rotom (Because of all the cameras in the prison and the fact that he operated from behind screens using electronics.)

Beans: Politoed (She can picture politoed in an identical suit.)

Tonpa: Trubbish (...she does not like Tonpa very much.)

Ponzu: Beedrill (Bee pokemon. She has bees in her hat.)

Bendot: Machoke (He's a fighter pokemon. Also he was going to choke Tonpa so there's that too.)

Sedokan: Litwick (It's a candle. It's also got one eye hidden.)

Majitani: Wishiwashi (We spent a long time trying to find a pokemon that sort of gives that impression of guy trying to look way more intimidating than he is... She decided on Wishiwashi because its school form is powerful but it also reverts back to weaker solo form when wounded.)

Leroute: Salazzle (I did not know there were pokemon people thirsted for and I don't think I needed to know that. Anyways, Salazzle is kind of an exotic creature and she was involved in exotic animal trafficking so. Checks out.)

Johness the Dissector: none. (She tried to think of one but really couldn't. We both kind of agreed that he probably wouldn't have any on account of... probably killing them.)

Geretta: Aromatisse (I don't know lol. I think this was just vibes.)

Agon: Galarian Farfetch'd (He appeared to have been a fencer so I think this was the closest thing. Plus eyebrows.)

Bodoro: Gallade (She was trying to think of an honourable type of pokemon. I don't think she was entirely sold on Gallade, especially since she gave Kurapika one later on, but we moved on.)

Bourbon: Seviper (Viper for the snake charmer.)

Nicholas: Abra (Abra just kind of sleeps, and though Nicholas tried to predict the Hunter Exam, he wasn't prepared for it, so I think that was the rationale here.)

Siper: Inteleon (A sniper pokemon for the sniper. I questioned why she was giving this minor character a pokemon when I'm pretty sure she didn't even have a speaking line, to which she replied, and I quote, "Yeah, but I want her to step on me.")

Sommy: Aipom (Mischievous monkey for the monkey trainer.)

Todo: Hariyama (Sumo pokemon for the sumo guy.)

Amori Brothers: Falinks (Yes, all three of them have the same pokemon. They work together for team attacks and so do the brothers. Do not separate.)

Zeno: Roaring Moon (I brought up Zeno's association with dragons. She liked the vibe of this one for him.)

Silva: Kommo-o (I think she wanted to keep the dragon theming. ...she also refers to Silva as "evil He-Man". Just thought you should know.)

Kikyo: Hatterene (She picked this one because of its elegant look... and the fact that it attacks anyone who is too loud or hostile within its home range.)

Illumi: Ferrothorn (It's absolutely perfect omg. She said it attacks using spikes and thorns, and it also "has the eyes". She also cheerfully informed me it's weak to fire. She does not like Illumi very much.)

Milluki: Forretress (Also has the eyes, and stays in a shell. It shoots things I think. She was trying to pick one that calls to mind Milluki's bombs.)

Kalluto: Kartana (I mentioned Kalluto's association with paper, so she picked this one.)

Gotoh: Meowth (For the coin association. Also she thought it'd be kind of funny if all the butlers had cat or cat-like pokemon.)

Canary: Espeon (Because it evolves based on friendship... augh... also vibes.)

Zebro: Cinccino (Zebro's kind of the janitor, and Cinccino likes to clean, if I'm remembering correctly? Also it's kind of disarmingly cute and harmless looking, which fits Zebro's "taking the key from the hapless guard" shtick.)

Seaquant: Watchog (Vibes, I'm pretty sure. hjdfkbvdshjvh)

Just My Life

The beginning of a vessel for a muerto. Made some time ago.

Just my life...Every time I channel - whatever I say is true or comes true. It shouldn't shock me, but when I hit on something, it still gives me a shiver. I know I've had gifts a long time, but still, these talents being so strong is relatively new. I'm not sure if it was me getting older or pacting with Rodolfo and giving up Demons for good that impacted my gifts and my life. Probably both. Giving up Demons was a great thing. I occasionally cavort with them, like for certain people and only with divination. Never ritual because they don't want to work with me, either. Except for Biffy. He's the only exception.

I am with the muertos and only with the muertos. I stand alone with them, I don't need a god. Even when I lost my dad, I didn't cry for god. I went to Rodolfo. My grief has been quelled by him, but not by force, but by love. We do love each other in a unique way. Its all-encompassing and transcends life and death, it is a beautiful thing. Its not lurid and sexual, ok? There's no sort of necrophilia or weird sort of sexual spirit possession. Lol! 😆 We're close friends.

I just find it interesting that I spent so many years practicing without these gifts, well, to a much lesser degree. I had glimpses but rarely an actual "Awww" moment where I get all sparkly feeling with chills and lots of evidence that what I said is true and bonafide. I don't need to use supernatural or magical terms to describe things that I predict, see, hear, or pick up. I have all the senses, baby! Lol! 😂 Naw, well, yeah!! I pick up everything! Its really distracting sometimes! I get information that I don't want. Sometimes being intuitive isn't fun.

Idk. I love the great gifts, they are a nice asset. But, hopefully they won't be abused by anyone. Anyone who thinks I'm being braggadocious is wrong. I'm just analyzing and feeling kind of bewildered about everything - having new thoughts, feelings, visions coming to me, its different! Its wild! In my mid-life, its kinda exciting but strange too. Its one thing to read my husband. Its another to channel a dead husband for a complete stranger that I know absolutely nothing about with random questions brought to me! Lol!

And be accurate! Ha! 😅 A secret is that I'm always nervous for whom I read - but not during the reading. Only the anticipation in waiting for a reply after the reading. Rofl! I always get similar replies. Its way better than when I read cards, and this involves much more of a personal element to it. I'm still trying to figure out the mechanics of how my channeling works. Still unsure, but it is effective and I'll figure it out! Anyway!

lmao so, I confess I cannot remember the exact wording but I do distinctly recall MULTIPLE times running across kids on the clock app referencing some note you could find in Heisenberg's factory that supposedly was part of a journal entry where he commented on the "male form" being perfect or something and like. Not only does that objectively not exist, they also would use it to gatekeep him from dreaded Women who liked this character. (Yuck! Gross! Awful but also Predictable!) And funnily enough, this is part of what prompted me to finally delete the app. I don't make a habit of fighting with minors but one time I politely said "hey idk if you're referencing a localization or something but I've played through many many times and this literally is not in the game" and they replied by 1) calling me a homophobe (insane) and 2) claiming the exact spot where it was located and. wouldn't you know it. I went there and it wasn't real. Anyway, this fandom was unfortunately my first real glimpse into how rampant the biphobia/misogyny is on that app (and how it's very much alive elsewhere!) and I'm so glad I nope'd out real fast. Sorry this wasn't the funny answer you were probably looking for lol. It is kind of hilarious just because of how fierce people were about defending a literal provable lie tho.

0) EPIC THE MUSIAL: GOD GAMES by Jorge Rivera-Herrans

Really outstanding, the development Athena as a character goes through to get to this point, Zeus being his usual showy jerk self, all the other gods and their motivations and how the arguments with which they are won over. Really well made and their voices are just exceptional!!

PS. Scylla’s song is also excellent! So beautiful and haunting and it’s so cool yet terrifying seeing Ulysse’s evolution into a monster.

0) THE GREATEST SHOWMAN: REWRITE THE STARS

Cool movie, didn’t particularly care for the plot or characters, but the music… simply stunning and the singing and choreography for this!!

PS. Also NEVER ENOUGH. Leaves me spellbound every time.

Mayfly’s performance of Love Poem [original by IU] was just outstanding and heavenly!!!

Eunkwang (BtoB), Jongho (Ateez), Seungmin (Stray Kids) really managed to perform flawlessly and showcase their vocals perfectly!

PS. from ROAD TO KINGDOM. The Boyz’s performance of Danger [original by Taemin from Shinee] was just so surprising and exciting!

The heartbreak 💔 for both the characters. Two humans living in an alien society, the mistreatment and abuse, the unrequited feelings, trying to get the other’s attention but not knowing how to express their feelings and just resorting to violence, the self-sacrifice and willingness to do whatever to make sure the other survives this round 🥺😭

0) OCEAN’S ELEVEN

The final heist of the first movie, it’s so satisfying how everything comes together, really clever and well executed. You could have predicted it if you paid very close attention to the background throughout the movie!

Really creative how everyone has too coordinate and find different ways to recreate the sensation of falling (car falling from a bridge, crashing elevator, destroying the foundation of the hospital and just free falling from a building). It’s so satisfying!

PS. The whole movie is so visually stunning and everything is so cleverly executed!

The cinematic Awaken (2019), how I discovered the universe and even I’d I don’t particularly like the game, the lore and champions, the series tv, comics and cinematics are amazing! 🤩

In this loved how everything looked so crisp and we combine the different storylines of characters from different regions and they all reach their climax together with the song!

Irelia looked beautiful, Riven vs Draven in the colosseum, Jhin playing the piano and later fighting Camille!!!

PS. Aatrox’s voice lines always kill me. So interesting and incredibly delivered:

Blackbeard’s speech is still fresh in my mind so many years later, he really had a way of delivering his lines that was really compelling:

Caution's nothing without charisma! For if a man plays the fool, then it's only fools he'll persuade. But appear to be the devil, and all men will submit.

It's all a big show. Give your quarry something to fear, some hellish thing from a fever dream, and men will drop to their knees pleading for their Lord before all else!

PS. Loved how they explained the Creed:

To say that nothing is true is to realize that the foundations of society are fragile and that we must be the shepherds of our civilization.

To say that everything is permitted is to understand that we are the architects of our actions, and that we must live with their consequences, whether glorious of tragic.

0) GENSHIN IMPACT, Chapter V Act IV (Natlan)

Really fantastic and epic! First with Ororon and Capitano, then the different ideology battle between the Fatui Harbinger and the Archon, them cooperating. The war against the Abyss, they really manage to show how hopeless and gruelling and bleak war can be, every choice you made and didn’t make affected the outcome, it was tiresome and difficult and at the end of the day disappointing because you could never save everyone. But also it was hype and epic and you kept fighting back and in the end we see through the fake sky!!!! Something that’s been speculated and theorised for years!

Also all the lore bombs this patch 🧐

PS. Chapter IV Act V (Fontaine Finale)

Really emotionally charged and beautiful, one of the most powerful conclusion to an act ever, you feel and care for every cha and they all came together to help of their nation!

0) AVATAR THE LAST AIRBENDER

The last battle of Zuko vs Azula. Simply gorgeous, the colours, the fire, the music, the silence, the atmosphere, the characters and the end of their journey and development. Everything was just perfect 😍

PS. Katara blood bending for the first time, really left an impact on me, really drives home how not hype and actually awful it is to be able to do that.

0) HUNTER X HUNTER

Ep 51. With the background of Mozart’s Lacrimosa, it was so surprising yet alluring how the Phantom Troupe going on a massacre against both mafia and police members manages to be. Really a fitting requiem for Uvogin!

PS. Killua’s ripping that death row inmate’s heart. So shocking but badass!

0) GINTAMA

Gintoki vs Takasugi. Loved how it’s structured, we go from such a brutal fight in the present to the happy times of the past and slowly we’re fed the story of exactly what happened at the end of the war and why they all went their separate ways 😢

PS. Kamui vs everyone. Similar, we see his past and how he bacare the man he is today. Also I absolutely adore his fighting style! And him going out of control 🫢, also the end!

0) BLEACH

Ichigo vs Ulqiorra. The themes (a human gradually descending into becoming a monster and a hollow slowly gaining a heart), the music, the designs (Kubo has the best transformations!), the colours (black green white for Ulquiorra & b orange black for Ichigo). So hype, so cool, so badass. And the ending is very bittersweet.

PS. The official videos Rapport & Eien. Rapport is such a nostalgic reel of all the seasons before and the most iconic moments presented wonderfully with such a good song! And Eien really encapsulates everything Bleach is about and all the best scenes of that season!

0) HAIKYUU

Karasuno vs Shiratorizawa, specifically Tsukishima’s yell! It was such a rewarding payoff from the previous seasons, really showed his growth as a character and a player. Also so hype and seeing everyone reacting and joining in being happy for that point was so wholesome!

PS. Karasuno vs Nekoma. The awaited dumpster battle, the rivals finally get to have a match and it was so interesting!

0) KUROKO’S BASKETBALL

Kise vs Aomine. First match we see without our main team, yet so engaging and nerve wracking. We see two friends going at each other with (almost) everything they have and wanting to surpass each other so badly! Also Kise finally realising his potential.

PS. Kagami vs Aomine, the moment where two people in the zone finally face each other! So much tension and excitement, also it was animated really well.

0) ONE PIECE

Fan Letter. Such a nostalgic feel, it really embodies a love letter to all the one piece fan who have followed this story for years! We see the world through completely different eyes, from the perspective of the normal people thrust in a world full of danger and monsters. But they are still able to make a difference and live freely throughout it all.

PS. Eps 982: the Strawhats’ toast, the colours, the animation, the feeling of embarking on this epic task that will change the world forever. Also the musical number XD

Very hilarious and comical, yet can instantly switch to completely serious, badass and competent. Also angst of a character who can’t die but everyone around him does.

0. Legolas (THE HOBBIT, LORD OF THE RINGS)

Very graceful and whimsical, such a great portrayal of an elf. Yet can be ruthless and cold, as expected of such a long lived and experienced creature.

Also loved the movies because we see his journey from ‘young’ reckless killing machine, to more calm and composed ally.

0. Edmund Pevensie (NARNIA)

His development from the brooding spiteful brat who betrayed his siblings to a wise king who’s logical, mature, courageous; loyal confidant and supporter for his siblings.

0. Stiles Stilinski (TEEN WOLF)

Starts off as the comic relief, weak human of the group, but still smart and resourceful. Goes through so many hardships and overcomes so many obstacles.

0. Nico di Angelo (PERCY JACKSON, HEROES OF OLYMPUS)

Starts off as a kid, slightly annoying and bratty, goes through such dark times and manages to conquer every challenge he’s faced with.

Really one of the most resilient character I’ve ever seen.

0. Cloud Strife (FINAL FANTASY 7, DISSIDIA)

Starts a practically a nobody, a naive withdrawn kid. Never gives up no matter how hard his goals are and even when he’s shattered by outside forces, he still manages to retain himself. Even when he retreats in his friends and pretends to be someone he’s not, he still manages to become and hero and overcome his problems and past.

0. Leona Kingscholar (TWISTED WONDERLAND)

Based on Scar, hated second prince who will never be king. Extremely knowledgeable and capable, cunning and intelligent and gifted with magic, yet lazy and depressed, has given up on his future since he didn’t get anywhere with hard work. You can’t lie to him, he can’t be tricked nor manipulated, may seem disinterested or inattentive but is actually always carefully observing his surroundings.

His unique magic is exceptionally powerful and terrifying, could easily kill everyone around him.

Also his chant is so badass: I am the one who hungers. I am the one who thirsts. I am the one who robs you of your future. Now... Kneel before me! KING’S ROAR

0. Chuuya Nakahara (BUNGOU STRAY DOGS)

Badass, short tempered, beautiful. Extraordinarily capable in hand to hand combat, has one of the strongest abilities, is actually very intelligent and resourceful even if he lets others do the strategising.

0. Fay D. Flourite (TSUBASA RESERVOIU CHRONICLE)

Liar, long lived mage with too much power and multiple curses. Weak enough to not want to kill those dear to him, even if they’re a danger to others and directly threaten him. Strong enough to love his new found family and do everything in his power to protect them.

0. Lavi (D.GRAY MAN)

Bookman junior, part of a clan tasked with recording all history, even the secret events, he should be uninvolved and unbiased, should just mechanically record happenings without his emotions getting in the way. Liar, alway wears a mask to hide his true self, took dozens of different names and roles, can speak ani language. Is slightly becoming emotionally compromised and invested in his comrades.

0. Kurama / Shuichi Minamino (YU YU HAKUSHU)

Calm and collected, intelligent high schooler, with the soul of an ancient cunning thieving nine tail fox. Every time he fight he is cold blooded and merciless, uses his techniques, experience and knowledge to make up for his now weaker body.

0. Hibari Kyoya (KATEKYO HITMAN REBORN)

Feral capable fighter who love discipline and his city. An aloof cloud who sometimes drift over to save his Family. Uses Tonga and handcuffs, his Box animal is a hedgehog, has a pet bird. Beats delinquents and they respect him so much they reform themselves and serve him.

0. Karma Akabane (ASSASSINATION CLASSROOM)

Hard working prodigy, learned first hand how genius alone is not enough to stay at the top. Funny, violent and manipulative, able to control and direct others in order to utilise their best abilities.

0. Hiruma Yoichi (EYESHIELD 21)

Passionate, shady, manipulative, strategic devil. Will use anything within the rules to win, has countless of cards up his sleeve. A Spartan instructor, demanding leader, will trick anyone into doing what he wants, has blackmail on everyone. Not a genius, just someone who works hard and expects others to do the same.

“Talent can get you so far. Hard work can get you ANYWHERE.”

Here's a long boy all about the twitch stream angry moment, yes she is really upset at him and he instantly felt bad and got quite. But "yelling at him for two minutes straight" makes it sound more intense but yeah tensions were high for a bit. It's the 07/14/2021 stream (smosh showoff, confessions and meme review) specifically 12 mins from the end so at around 1h44min, I def recommend watching the full clip, Dept of Weird Sounds on YouTube didn't include it in the part 30 compilation but I think it should've been there since they were def dating by that point and it shows that they ultimately know how to deescalate things pretty quickly, stop pushing when the other is hurt and how theyre soft w each other after bickering, otherwise this could've been really bad because they were both hurt lol been wanting to talk about this one for a while but got the feeling that people haven't seen it since no one brings it up lol

They're playing Confessions and she comes up with a confessions and they have to guess whether it's true or false. C's decides her confession is "i regret not realizing my value when I was younger / having low self esteem in the past" and S jokingly goes "oh, fuck off!" and the room busts out in laughter but you can see the rest of cast is unsure whether to laugh or not because C wasn't laughing, so yeah she's scary and they don't wanna upset her aw. She didn't make it a big deal though and only asked him "do you regret that response?" when she saw he was laughing quietly in the back because he realized she wasn't amused.

The tension arises though when they're all unsure what to answer and S goes "I'm gonna be mad if you're gonna say that you don't regret your past becasue that was your journey and stuff" because he feels like that's a copout answer. And she doesn't like his response and almost threateningly (lol) goes "how would you feel about that?" he jokingly replies "I'm gonna be mad" which she ofc sees as condescending, technically she can feel however she wants to about her past and just because its a cliche answer doesn't make it untrue.

She reveals her answer and it's exactly as he predicted, so they lose. She doesn't regret how she felt in the past because it got her here, she yells "fuck you, I regret nothing bitch!" to everyone in the room (S knows her frustration is mainly directed at him and you can see him get flustered and red) then she specifically turns to S and says "and fuck you shayne! I am allowed to believe that" because it hurt her feelings that they were making fun of her potential answer before she said it esp s (her actual bf). But the rest of the "yelling" was really her talking to the room about why she answered that way and laughing about it w Damien, also crew and cast are laughing throughout so it doesn't feel as intense but those two were fighting for sure for a sec there. She was upset so she ignored him for a min as they cooled down and he was upset that she called him out like that in front of everyone and the stream, but very soon after you can see her looking at s through the stream monitor up top (since he was sitting at the top of the set behind her) and when she sees he has a pout on his face, she immediately feels bad, turns and says to him: "are you mad?", also because probably people in the chat were pointing out S is mad/embarassed. Anyway i love how as soon as she extended an olive branch to make peace he immediately is okay and laughingly explains why he thought she would answer differently and she understands that he wasn't trying to make fun of her and all is resolved, they go back to making each other laugh and be adorable for the rest of this very fun stream. Made me realize that's probably how they are, they get quiet when upset even after blowing up and then slowly reach out to apologize and they don't seem to hold the grudge for the rest of the stream, in fact they go out of their way to make each other laugh almost as a hidden "I'm sorry, I hated what just happened" in a way and that's so soft of them

Omg the Confessions stream, tensions were high for a bit, but I love how after the bickering and before they made up, when C wins the game S is still the first to clap for her ever though he's livid and pouty. And you can see her briefly glance behind to see if he's clapping to check how upset he is lol And then for the rest of the last 10 mins of stream it's just them geving each other attention and making one another laugh

Just finished watching that part and I think it's not that bad like what another anon said at all. There's some tension behind it but they masking it like a lot.

The Road to 'Road to Kingdom 2: Electric Boogaloo' [RTK2 #1]

The time has come, my friends. 'Road to Kingdom 2' is coming, set to start airing in September (as far as I know, there's no specific date yet). At this point in time, I'm planning on watching the entire series and, after running a poll on my twitter, I will be (attempting) both livetweeting my reactions to the episodes, as well as posting full recaps and thought posts here on tumblr.

Why, you may ask? Well, first of all, I'm an absolute survival show junkie. I don't necessarily watch all of them (because there are so very many of them) but I try to watch as many as I can. Secondly, I am actively part of the performing arts community, from musical theatre to concert band to choir to dance to drama - and I enjoy engaging with things in that area. And thirdly, I'm very opinionated and I enjoy hearing myself talk, lol. So instead of terrorising my various group chats, I'm just going to get all my thoughts out there into the void.

Anyway, with that out of the way, here's what we know so far. Taemin is going to be the MC (so fun), and the official lineup of participating groups is Oneus, Cravity, Tempest, Younite, The New Six, 8TURN, and The CrewOne. Mnet have already announced that, unlike the first season of RTK, this season is no longer for smaller/unknown groups with no music show wins and will not be a precursor to 'Kingdom' proper; the prize for the winning group does not include a spot on that show, apparently. This show is effectively going to be a whole different show from the original RTK, just using the same name, which... why bother? Just give it a new name, then, instead of piggybacking off one of your existing IPs, Mnet. Removing the ticket onto Kingdom element thoroughly defeats the purpose of the show, in my opinion, but hey, since when has Mnet ever cared about doing stuff logically. I could say something about 'Build Up' and how that was handled both during and after the show, but I digress.

Due to it not being the same show as the original season, there's not a lot that can currently be predicted about how it might run, what sort of challenges the groups will face, or how any of the rounds will be conducted. The only thought I currently have is that an uneven number of groups (to me) is implying potential eliminations, which I'm not thrilled about. I'm still traumatised by Golden Child's elimination on the original season, and I'm not likely to be getting over that any time soon.

Now, onto the actual groups. I'm actively a fan of two of the groups (Cravity and Oneus), a casual listener of one other (Tempest), and am only tangentially aware of the other four groups. So, leading up to the start of the show, I'll be making a few intro posts to the groups with my first impressions and thoughts on them as they stand, to see if the competition affects those impressions (I could come out of this with a new stanlist...). If anyone has any MV recommendations for 8TURN, TNX, ATBO/Justb (The CrewOne), or Younite, please feel free to drop them here or reply to me on twitter or whatever.

Pre-voting opened today (July 22) and will run until 12:00pm KST on July 26. As far as we know, the group that wins the most votes during this time will receive some sort of benefit when the show starts. The groups also seem to have started preparing for the first round (most likely will be some sort of introductory performance) if the posts I've seen on SNS are anything to go by. If you want to join in the voting, you just need to download the Mnet Plus app and create an account.

also what is that font you used btw? is there a full alphabet somewhere and if so would you mind sharing the link? i like that it’s a very understated gothic-looking serif. or very calligraphic looking i guess

sure thing!! with the understanding it's a lot more half-baked than most of the ideas I've been talking about, so i'm going to briefly walk you through the few ideas that went into it before explaining (also briefly) what it is so far, lol. Also, the font is Fondamento - it was one of the fonts available in Photopea (free online photoshop-like) which I used to make the cover, but it looks like it's also on Google Fonts. If you want to know how I did the bronze metallic-ink-ish look for the text I can expound on that as well, btw, or you can just enjoy the font :)

So I've been having a resurgence of my Tempest emotions

(for those who are unfamiliar. i would summarize it, but it would take a long time. just. find a summary and read it with a MASSIVE grain of salt that's labeled 'prospero is an asshole and nobody understands Caliban but tumblr user gloriousmonsters and the poet Robert Browning')

and this time reading it was especially having fun with the parallels between Caliban and Miranda's characters and also thinking about how EXTREMELY weird and screwed up their relationship would have been growing up.

Despite interpretations/stories based on it sometimes having it otherwise, in canon neither of them seem to have ever seen or spoken to Ariel (at least in capacity as A Person You Can Talk to; Caliban is more aware of the spirits Prospero commands in abstract, at least). Aside from Prospero, who is notoriously not good at being present for what he's supposed to be looking after, they are the only human being the other one knows. It's serving twisted Eden vibes. It's serving tmg's 'the last man on earth'. it's serving 'not that Prospero would have encouraged it, but to an extent they must have seen each other as family, right? especially in Miranda's case, considering she grew up her entire life with him. the psuedoincest is off the charts'. Then shit goes bad (in whatever way you want to interpret) and now suddenly they're in a place of seeing each other daily, because Caliban does literally everything around the place, but having an uncrossable rift of mutual hurt and betrayal between them* that has little choice but to curdle and get worse because neither of them can do anything to change their situation. Depending on how lines are assigned, they never speak to each other in the play. And they have nobody else to talk to save for cursing out Prospero (Caliban) or trying to get in two words between Prospero's monologues (Miranda). And then the play events happen and they just part ways because Prospero has decided it, after probably expecting they'd be stuck in this forever. And then the next-to-only person you've ever known is on a different landmass and you're probably never going to see them again. it's So fucked.

Anyway I was revolving all of that with quiet awe in my head, and going 'man, I want to write a fucked up Caliban/Miranda book, but I don't have a non-play plot and I don't want to just write a prequel'

Then I encountered Caliban upon Setebos for the first time, and despite the fact i could still nitpick some things it slaps insanely. Only good Tempest fanfiction. It's a long poem consisting of Caliban theorizing about Setebos--a god his mother supposedly got her witch powers from, but that Caliban knows very little about. He theorizes that Setebos is either indifferent or malignant or both--impossible to predict, driven by whim. The only other divine force is 'the Quiet', an even more inhuman and incomprehensible force that doesn't do anything at all; cosmology is cruel, the world a sandbox under the eye of a god with as many arms as a cuttlefish, capricious and sadistic, whom we can only hope will someday grow decrepit and sleep, which is the closest to it being dead we can pray for--

It was about this point I realized Caliban/Browning was inventing the Lovecraft mythos 50ish years ahead of schedule, and got hit by the lightning bolt of 'PUT ELDRITCH BEINGS IN IT' and, five seconds later 'CALIBAN DESERVES TO BE A MAGICIAN' and five seconds after that 'miranda deserves to break out of being her father's Perfect child, let's set it in the future and kill Prospero off'

So Bitter Heart (taken from a line in the poem, 'Caliban/a bitter heart that bides its time') is conceptually a dual perspective novella/short novel focused on how about nine years after the conclusion of The Tempest, Miranda (unmarried, I'll handwave it; Ferdinand bores me so much sorry dude) finds her father dead and surrounded by rambling half-incomprehensible notes, remnants of a type of magic that's far different from his old ways, and a creeping sense of Wrongness that begins to slowly manifest in distortion, mutation and decay of elements of reality. People search for solutions while Miranda tries to find the source of the bizarre power in her father's notes and what hidden books she can unearth from his study, but she hasn't made it very far before a man comes to Milan at the behest of someone who's decided we should throw magic at the magic problem--a man she's heard rumors of as the hot new 'guy you keep in your court for a bit to show him off at parties because he's learned and also Moorish or something, he has this crazy backstory that's probably fake but is a lot of fun, also he does magic probably' in other cities, but never met.

A man who, when they meet face to face, turns out to be Caliban, who after about a year of 'finally peace and quiet' realized that living completely alone on an island was going to drive him insane and also he still really wanted revenge on Prospero (and had a lot of ambiguous ideas about what he wanted from Miranda) so he scraped together what Prospero had left behind and taught himself magic for the next few years until he could figure out a way off the island. He's extremely annoyed that after that, and after spending more years building himself up and finding his footing in the outside world, Prospero had the nerve to die RIGHT before he showed up, even if he wasn't promised a reward if he can stop people's arms from turning into fishes and shit he'd find out what did it so he can give it a piece of his mind. Miranda understandably never planned for this scenario and has a really hard time knowing what to feel about it, but she and Caliban form a tentative truce in order to try and figure out wtf Prospero was doing before he croaked.

There'll be intercut flashbacks to their past and the time they spent becoming incredibly codependent and eventually tipping into confused romantic attraction and sexual experimentation, which both of them have tried very hard to convince themselves was a bad idea for one reason or another, it clearly wasn't and will never be good for them, etc; and of course in present day they both immediately resume having bitter gothic sexual tension and trying to ignore the instinct that, now they've met each other again, they're the only two real people in a world of dreams and spirits.

Also they have to find the entrance to an eldritch realm and figure out what's coming through and how to stop it, and have a lot of insanely weird and pretentious thoughts/conversations about God and sin and abuse and vengeance/hatred and so on. So that's the mess Bitter Heart is at the moment :P
