[TITLE: Farewell, Iowa, We'll Meet Again, a Gus Van Sant film]

Art 'Greeny' Matthews, a man who does an honest day's work in the farm and is pretty darn proud of it, wanders through his house. His wife Darlene just left him (hence the opening song), and he is faced with the prospect of raising his only son, a ten year old lad Asmond 'Mond' Matthews, on his own.

Greeny takes Mond along with him as he works in the farm on holidays, riding in the tractor. Mond cries about Darlene, who didn't even leave a note, the hussy, and Greeny comforts him as much as he can. "It'll be alright, son," Greeny says on Mond's eleventh birthday, as they sit in the stable with a badly made cake on the wobbly stool. "Just you and me, eh? Not bad!"

"I hate chocolate," Mond whispers miserably, and the birthday party ends in more tears.

When Mond is thirteen, he starts to grow more closed with his emotions, just helping his dad around the farm. They're making a huge profit, and Greeny has business deals and free time, and makes an effort to bring Mond along to golf games and such. Mond is being bullied in school for being caught writing poetry, but he refuses to tell his dad why he comes home with a black eye every other week.

"I'm always here if you want to talk over a game of catch, son," Greeny tries one day. "No thanks, dad," Mond says, and wanders away into the stable. At fourteen, Greeny tries to bring him on fishing trips to discuss his feelings, as they used to do back when Darlene lived with them. Mond swallows, but shakes his head.

Finally, Mond can't keep it from him anymore, and when Greeny finds out, he goes into a rare fit of temper. "Just like your mother, boy!" he says, hand rattling his mug of ale. "A wanderer and a careless fool, that's what you'll turn out to be! There ain't no place in this world for people livin' in their heads."

Mond doesn't write poetry anymore.

As Mond grows, though, he helps out more with the farm, and they bond over hopes for future profit, and joking about golf, which they both find pretentious. "C'mon, champ, let's go play golf," Greeny says while they watch suited businessmen make their way to the house, out of place amidst the yellow-green farmland. "What's your favourite golf club?"

"That a literal club, or the thing they whack the ball with, dad?" Mond responds, and Greeny chortles. "I taught you better than that, son."

He has high hopes for Mond, he will take over the farm. Greeny is growing weary of his duties, he married late and had Mond even later.

[Montages of sunlight days ensue, intercut with shots of Mond, who always has a melancholic air about him. His mother was a dancer, and that rebellious spirit, so long dormant, is beginning to stir as he enters his twenties.]

On his twenty-first birthday, Greeny has baked him a cake, not chocolate. Mond barely sees it. His father doesn't know him. Not really. Not at all. When Greeny says he is handing over the farm to him, and starts to give him instructions about the responsibilities, Mond has had it.

He picks up the rucksack he's been storing by the umbrella stand for weeks, and shoulders it as Greeny pauses mid-lecture. "I'm sorry, dad," Mond says. "I'm going away to be my own man. This was your dream. Not mine."

Greeny is too frozen to stop him.

Mond travels the States, far from home and Iowa, and after a year of struggle finally publishes his first anthology of poetry. Hoping to make his dad proud, he sends a letter home asking if it imperative he return, since he's too ashamed to say he wants to. The reply is a brief but polite no from the housekeeper, saying his father wishes him well but does not require that he return. Assuming Greeny wants nothing to do with him, Mond stays away, bitter and homesick.

He is called home a few months later, and when he arrives, he is met not with Greeny, but with the housemaids and farmhands in black, and the housekeeper teary-eyed as she guides him to the back garden and a lonely gravestone. Greeny, heartbroken by his son leaving the same way Darlene his wife did all those years ago, declined in health, but he kept up the farm till the end, all ready for Mond should he want it after all, and for the head farmer if he didn't.

Mond, still carrying his book hoping to have shown his dad at last, stares in shock at the gravestone. He thinks even at the end Greeny did not know him, thought he would want the farm. Until he reads the inscription. Art 'Greeny' Matthews, friend to all, loyal husband, and most of all, proud father of a poet.

His father knew, Mond realised. His father knew what he'd been doing.

"Are ya proud, dad?" Mond whispers, dropping the book and kneeling down before the stone. "Are ya proud? It was all for you."

[The camera pulls back to show the farmland, scattered with people in black going about their work because business stops for no one, and a solitary figure by the gravestone. Bob Dylan's Blowin' in the Wind plays as the end credits roll.]

"How many roads must a man walk down, before you call him a man?

Oh BostonNick. This is everything I wanted and so much more than I hoped for. And it was perfect in my opinion. From Nicks pic on Boston's phone to them talking to them making love. I like that it wasn't dragged out. I like that it was so very BostonNick. I cried. Multiple times lol I hope they are allowed to be together now and won't have to go through too much shit anymore. I can't wait for next week's BostonNick in love era

9) I'm glad they're showing ray going to rehab. I don't think we've ever seen something like this in any bl before. I love it!!

10) last but not least I wanna talk about neo and marks acting in the talking scene. I've already seen some shitty takes. And yeah maybe I'm biased but I think they're talented as fuck and some people seem to forget who Nick and Boston are. Mark didn't overact. Nick is just a highly emotional person. He feels things so deeply and he's so in love with Boston it makes fucking sense for him to full on sob cause everything breaks out of him. And Boston cried too but he's very emotionally repressed. He's terrified to show emotions. He's not the type to full on cry in public. I mean we got more emotions from him than I thought we'd get. It was very fitting and I'm sure it's exactly how Jojo and everyone else wanted the scene to be.

The ultimate Only Friends The Series resumé

So we are here at the end of the series we all couldn't wait to see the whole year. And I just wanna say some things about the series, the actors, the circumstances, my emotions. U know me I have a lot to say in general but firstly I am just so grateful to have witnessed this kinda evolution of BL series and now let's get deeper into the mess 😆

The series

As I said it was so highly awaited that I was sure ppl would be delulu all the time. I knew that there would be beef because everyone wants mess and when they get it they can't handle it. I know ppl expect things from BLs (me too I don't exclude me) and when it isn't how it (apparently) should be (in their opinion) and it's exactly how life COULD be ppl hate, be shitty and say mean things in general.

I mean I was mad when the directors and writers cut out TopMew scenes just because "fans" hated on them (I still don't get it) but I never once hated on Ray, Boston or somebody else (like hating Khao or sb). I can say we'll that's shitty what he's done, I can say I am mad at Boston for this but as I said before life is not perfect. I also can forgive somebody when I see okay he changes for me, the other one I don't. I think ppl should not watch the series when they can't accept failure and not being perfect then. When you want a BL like in books go watch Lita or Hidden agenda or sth.

This sometimes killed my mood. But well I am obsessed with the actors of this series. And it's what kept me watching. The mess was real.

The actors

Book aka Mew: my beloved Bookie. I think he did so great. And I am not saying this just because I love him sm. He worked his ass off. He never did a role like this (playing so many emotions and naivness and all that we've seen). I am really excited to see what he is up to. I hope he gets to challenge himself again. I wish that ppl see how well he's doing. He deserves the praise for this role and all that are coming. 🍅💕

Force aka Top: I love bad boy Force. I love his smirk his laugh and him. I like how he acted the scenes from asshole to in love like a fool haha. I don't get why ppl hate on his acting. He improved sm I just want that he gets some respect. 🦊🫶🏻

-> Forcebooks chemistry was so good. All the stares and the cries and all the heavy emo stuff. I love them sm it hurts that ppl are so disgusting. They deserve the world and I am so proud to be their fan 🦊🍅💕

Khao as Ray and First as Sand: K is so naturally talented. I like his ways. I love his eyes and his smile. I like the way he and First act and be together. I like how they both cry so beautifully. I love how First can be fierce and soft. Also his expressions are so good. Their characters were a mess and they acted the part so good.

-> I realised that they don't belong on my top list of actors anymore. I mean, dont get me wrong. I appreciate and respect their acting, and their sexyness is beyond good, but I prefer others more. It's just a feeling I can't explain it further.

Neo as Boston, Mark as Nick: They did so good with their messy characters and all their deep shit. I like how it turned out at the end btw them. I like how Nick said, I can't be with u bc u are who u are but that's okay for u not for me though. I think that's so real. Also Boston is Boston, personally I couldn't be with sb like him but some will and it's okay. I can respect that.

-> Neo Mark did so good they grew on me. Especially Neo. He acted so good that we could hate Boston. U have to do that first. And Mark well the emotions were big!!!

Lookjun, Nonnie, Mond, Drake, Jennie as Cheum, April, Boeing, Gap and Yo: I love the mess around them, that Mond was Boeing was such a crazy thing. Also Drakes guest star was so sexy. The girls should have been there more. I don't know... they picked them well.

...and Mix as the first guest lol: holy shit I knew he would be there. I love him sm. And I am here for him to create chaos...and that's why..

My personal emotional ofts rambles

The emotions I had during this series were like a crazy ride. I am happy and sad and angry and a little disappointed and that's just the half of it haha. They did well. They could have done better though. Don't cut scenes just bc ppl want it, let stories tell and let them flow, be more accepting about different love lifes, different ppl different perspectives and last but not least accept failure from characters.

And at the end I would finally say my ranking of my fav characters I did a while ago and now I wanna do it again:

1. Mew (still on top sorry haha)

2. Top (yeah back on top really. All Mew said about forgiveness and that I agree)

3. Nick (just because I like that he looks after himself now!)

4. Sand (If he is there for u u won)

5. Cheum

6. Ray (how the tables have turned. I just don't like that he gets through with everything. Yah)

7. Boston (still last because I personally don't like his motives. And that is just my opinion)

And that's that. 💯 it was a ride. I am sad that this ended..

He is beautiful yet scrappy, and I truly believe he could beat any of these other men acting-wise and physically. In a street fight, my money would be on him every time.

My babygirl only serves the best performance each and every time he is on the screen. 2022 finally gave him the spotlight he so rightfully deserves with Not Me (where he played with Gun) and The Eclipse, but he held down the wacky plot of The Shipper against Ohm back in 2020, and had me rooting for him, the square, in Moonlight Chicken. Stay hydrated, babe!

Sing Harit

The Warp Effect and 3 Will Be Free added together equal one BL, so he has done more than the requirement, really, and he has been doing it almost a decade since 2014's Love Sick! Watch this man be a puppy in The Warp Effect, then play Todd in Not Me and tell me why a guy with this range hasn't been a main lead?! I DEMAND ANSWERS!

Neo Trai

Neo is a mini Sing. He played a clown so well in Cause You're My Boy where he was a love interest to Phuwin only to play his clown brother in Fish Upon the Sky, and played another clown in Tonhon Chonlatee. So when he got serious in The Eclipse, he demanded my attention. He played two different characters in Vice Versa, and now he is about to enter his villain era in Only Friends. He kills every role he is in, and I'm sure him and his abs will kill me and my mutes by the end of the year.

Fourth Nattawat

This baby got in by the skin of his teeth based on his two-minute moment in Bad Buddy. I'm counting it because he deserves to be here. He acts with his entire physical body. When Uncle Jim told his character not to be poor AND a homo in Moonlight Chicken, Fourth's whole demeanor captured exactly how the audience felt. I can't wait to see what this tiny toddler does next.

Khaotung Thanawat

I cannot write about this man and be rational. Just know he is pretty AND talented. I was rooting for him in A Tale of Thousand Stars and Moonlight Chicken, yet I don't even think they were actual possibilities. Once he starts to tear up, it's game over for these hoes. Cause understand, if Khaotung is acting in it, I'm supporting his character's rights and wrongs. BRING ME ONLY FRIENDS RIGHT NOW!

Fluke Pusit

I've already stated my case for him, but let me recap the highlights: he kisses like his energy is restored with each lip touch, and he has kissed the most GMMTV's boys. He has acted well in even his smallest roles, so I remember him each time, and he carried his weight against Ohm and First in The Shipper. He has chemistry with anyone, and it's by high time he got a lead. The Warp Effect was sooooo close = Sing x Fluke, anyone?

Mark Pakin

Look at at our man's resume: I Promised You the Moon, Bad Buddy, My School President, Moonlight Chicken, and The Warp Effect. Oh, and he is an actual world badminton champion. The directors I trust with my life, Jojo and Aof have each used him TWICE (Only Friends loading), and Aof is about to get him a third time in Last Twilight. He is being paired twice with Neo to prove they can hold their own against the OGs OffGun in Cooking Crush, which I have faith that they will exceed expectations. This man does not miss. Never. Not ever. Not fucking once.

Nanon Korapat

Nanon may be a nepo baby, but nobody puts baby in the corner. This man can ACT, and he isn't afraid to look ugly doing it. The way his face contorts to show every single emotion as he is feeling it should be studied. The way he moves his neck, hands, and overall body to exude his character's thoughts is marvelous. Oh, and The Gifted? That series was gay solely because Nanon decided to make it gay. That's powerful acting.

Daddy. Sexually and figuratively. He played in 2016's Fathers about two gay men trying to raise their child in a country with no legal protections for queer folks, then he played Chopper's dad in Never Let Me Go. I want to see Perth act against him again because their emotions show on their faces so well, but first I want to see him kiss another man like Friend Zone or 609 Bedtime Story. However, if I'm being honest, I just simply want him to take off his clothes again like in Mama Gogo. God, this man is fine. Oh, and he can act.

Kob Songsit

I can only see him as Kinn's manipulative ass father in KinnPorsche, but Kob has been acting for 34 years, and played in the queer staple The Love of Siam. He has played supportive fathers in Until We Meet Again, Chains of Heart, Don't Say No, and the ongoing Be My Favorite, and he played the older gay version to younger Khaotung's character in 55:15 Never to Late. He has gone on the record stating that he wants to show people being gay is okay and being SUPPORTIVE of the queers should be the norm. He earns his paycheck every damn day. Thank you for your service, sir!

So I thought, why not let their dreams come true? Why can’t I really embrace being the villain?

It really took years of work and being in a loving relationship and just being recognized for simply who I am for me to really see that. That I was hurting, and I was reaching out for help but not in a way others may understand. That I wanted to have a stable married life and be loved.

Interviewer: How was your relationship with the Queen?

Aemond: Well, there were initially three of us in a marriage, so it was a bit crowded. [classically Diana omo]

She was and has always been a loving and wonderful mother to Luke, and being a father now, I can somewhat see why she was the way she was.

It came down to a choice, between she and me, for Luke. We forced Luke to make a choice. And I, as well as she, knew that I had no chance of winning.

Interviewer: What were your reactions when your separation from Prince Lucerys was announced to the public?

Aemond: Well, we have been living apart for a couple month by then, by the time it was announced on television. We never had an official separation, no. We just thought that living apart would have helped resolve the issues we had with our marriage.

So instead, please have a long post on a lot of different genshin lore theories, more specifically linked to Istaroth and Barbatos and Khaenri'ah sometimes. gold / rhinedottir was all fucking over the cataclysm. Durin was attacking Mondstadt, making Barbatos wake up and fight him with Dvalin. Ei was fighting Rifthounds in Inazuma, while Makoto died in the cataclysm- both of those things, made by khemia, by gold! What's gold? The last stage of khemia, go memory! And Rifthounds and Durin must be first, really, Soil. This is all going off my albedo lore knowledge without checking give me some slack- but! Durin and Rifthounds share traits! Poison. Completely disintegrating everything and poisoning the land! Yay! Powerful enough to affect god's! And gods familiars! And *ley lines!* Infact they specifically attack ley lines ***which is what causes erosion!!!!*** So. That's very concerning. Whether they thrive off erosion, or ley line power itself, and cause other things to erode thereafter- bad. Durin is also still alive, partly. The heart. So!

After soil comes chalk! Now, Albedo was made to be a perfect being and then abandoned! Did Rhinedottir not need something sentient? Did she not need intelligent life? Did she want a puppet from afar? Where is she now? Albedo, who she so lovingly named /s, is still trying to figure out her question to what human life means!! And the idea that albedo, too, may one day fall to erosion, is terrifying! Because he is strong!! Very, canonically, if i remember!!! Which isn't *great*.

how I jokingly said before in my fic- the wind is very important to death. Atleast to Mondstadtians! The wind carries their souls back to Mondstadt to rest. We can see Venti bring back the memory of Stanley, to bring him to Mond to rest. In the final cutscene of Ei story quest 2, in a literal plane of consciousness, the sakura blossoms of Makoto's life is taken away on the wind. This, and Istaroth, can also link the wind to time and the age old-

The wind, as we know through Venti, can carry songs that don't exist yet, wind is constant through time!! Throughout teyvat!! And we think time could be primordial- and that primordial time goes hand in hand with the wind! Literally!!!! The wind itself/ the Thousand Winds are primordial. They carry all of time, and therefore life and death, stories and songs. Istaroth herself was a god of wind and time. Barbatos a God of wind, freedom, and music. (finally actually said by the most recent lantern rite rite calling him a "patron deity of music.") The wind itself is also sort of a guiding spirit? People usually follow it, or specifically - I have hit the nitro limit oh god - mention it with the moons- also very important to teyvat lore- the three moon sisters, the dead moon and possibly the fake sky! So!!! I personally theorise the Wind is a primordial being and that's why we have three different wind / storm gods and also andrius may count as a storm god. He was a wolf leader and god of snow storms, I think? So??? Maybe. The wind keeps splitting, that's how important it is.

If the wind stops, time stops, I believe.

So imagine if we ever went to the Mare Jirvari. And like where we've seen the corpse of every other god. It's completely frozen in time. The wind stopped there. So time cannot move. And imagine if that's where Istaroth died. that's why it's where the wind doth both blow.

I would suggest naming the Lamb Subject 17 just to hammer in the ‘raised for the slaughter’ vibes. His final Persona would be called “The Worlds” (as a reference to the possibility that his name Desmond came from the French word des mondes, the worlds, and the fact that he came from another world).

Yeeesss, the bar is filled with alcoholic beverages that his Bleeds recognized (especially Ezio). The walls are filled with paintings in the same style as Ezio, depicting important events in their lives (Ezio cannot look at the painting titled Burning of Cappadocia and Haytham ignores the painting titled “The End of Edward Kenway”).

The All Out Attack? Uuuhhh, I’m thinking that his All Out Attack ‘art’ changes depends on who his Persona is at the moment. All the Assassins would have “Nothing is true, everything is permitted” as the text but written in their language. Haytham would have the English language but his text would be “May the Father of Understanding Guide Us”. Each art would be Desmond having his back turned from the ‘screen’ while the Persona takes certain stage with the artwork behind them will be of similar style to what was ‘popular during their time’.

Unless it’s Lamb.

For the Lamb All Out Attack art, Desmond would actually be the ‘center’ of the art with the words “Nothing is True, Everything is Permitted” written in English (unless we have Edward taking the English text, then Desmond’s would be written in all of his Personas’ languages stitched together to create a Frankenstein language). The artwork behind him would just more or less look like the shadow backdrop of a city (has a sorta half-film noir, half-cyberpunk feel).

For the final Persona All Out Attack art, it’s similar to the Lamb All Out Attack but now the text in Isu script and the artwork is more of an apocalyptic the sun devours all feel.

Wjsjsn I was just thinking about this again when I got the notification of being tagged My thoughts being Desmond being aware, in a way, about the New Game plus+ Like, first play through the game Desmond is just hanging out but when you New Game plus+ he's like "The fuck??? Joker why would you wanna do this again???" Also, Iwai thinking art boy will get adopted only for Desmond to drag Akechi to stay with him after he nearly dies in his father's palace would be hilarious. Like, the only way to get Akechi to be alive at the end would be to get full relationships lvls with Desmond because of course he could get into the locked room and get the fake Detective Prince gone and Akechi out safe And the group only learns Akechi is alive after they finish the palace completely

In other words… place Desmond in a timeloop against his will. XD

But really, we can make this work by making the first ‘game’ have the bad ending. To be more specific, the ending of Joker being shot by Akechi. Desmond wakes up after learning that Joker has died and, now, he has information of the future.

… But Joker does too.

So Joker believes that Desmond taking a more center stage is because of the changes he’s made to prevent the bad ending. Desmond believes Joker and his group are changing because of his actions. And it takes their Confidant Lv 9 for them to realize that they both returned to the ‘starting’ point.

Desmond unofficially adopts the High School Detective and Iwai’s first thought is “oh another one”. As far as the public knows, Akechi is a good kid. Desmond just wants to try and help him out since… sure, he killed people but they were ‘bad’ people and Akechi needs someone to guide him.

… maybe Edward feels like Akechi is similar to Haytham even (Haytham is offended, Akechi is offended as well).

If Desmond ever ended up in the Persona 5 universe, I wonder what he would think of the Phantom Thieves? Would he be a confidant for Akira/Ren/Joker, be a neutral party? Become a Phantom Thief himself? I can't help but think that because of his Bleeds, he'd end up having his ancestors show up as Personas to help him fight in the Metaverse.

Ngl, I wanna make Desmond the Sun because of my penchant of giving Desmond something related to the very thing that killed him but based on his ‘situation’, these are the Arcanas that Desmond can be part of in my opinion:

Aeon (many of the Aeon Personas have an affinity to light and a common theme for Aeon representatives are that they are unfamiliar with the world they are in and are struggling to find their place in this world which describes Desmond’s current predicament and also… there’s no Aeon confidant in P5 so Desmond won’t be sharing this spot with anyone or, worse, won’t be removing an existing confidant)

Sun (A character in a lonely and most of the time terribly situation, signifying the hopelessness of them succeeding with the end results being them having to reflect on their situation and coming to peace with themselves and what is happening to them)

Moon (being attuned subconsciously to the world around someone, gaining the ability to sense things without being told about them, or without anyone else knowing, this arcana is also sometimes called the Arcana of Lies and Deceit which Desmond would be doing anyway because there’s no way he’ll tell the truth)

Death (metamorphosis and deep change, regeneration and cycles… which can also hint on Desmond’s origin as someone not from this world)

Personally, I do see Desmond as a Phantom Thief and acting like the cool older brother type to these teenagers. But being a neutral party seems more like his style, considering… everything.

So I would suggest we make Desmond a neutral party the Phantom Thieves meet up with in the Metaverse from time to time, mostly in Mementos because, in his own words ‘something calls to me here’.

The Phantom Thieves don’t know he’s the same bartender that works at Crossroads who would always give Joker a Shirley Temple whenever he’s on break. Lala told Joker that Desmond looked ‘lost’ so she helped him out (in more ways than one, Lala actually thinks Desmond is undocumented and helped him be an ‘upstanding citizen’…)

Desmond, for his part, is just happy that, for some reason, he knows Japanese? He has a feeling it’s one of his Bleed and many people tell him he speaks like he’s from a period drama so yeah, there’s that (it’s one of his Ibn-La'Ahad ancestors who knew Japanese because they chased the Mongols to Japan)

As for Desmond’s Persona…

It would be funny to give him Minerva or Juno as a Persona but we’re not that evil. Another idea would be to give him Dionysus for our usual ‘Desmond could totally be Dionysus’ Sage’ idea that pops in and out XD

So we’re going to make Desmond special because he’s our blorbo and we’ll use the Persona 1 and 2 plot of how the characters get their Persona.

He does the Persona game because he was bored one day XD

And that’s how he starts to hear Mementos’ call.

And while he journeys in Mementos by himself, that’s when he encounters the Shadows… of his Bleeds.

Confronting them (which always ends in a boss fight) ends with him receiving their Arcana and his Bleeds become his Personas.

Ezio: Judgment (associated with realizing one's calling, gaining a deep understanding of life and a feeling of acceptance and absolution)

Ratonhnhaké:ton: Hanged Man (sometimes self-sacrificial or self-loathing, but are more often notable for being caught between two different extremes, parties or stages in life of which they have little to no control – always in the middle of two opposing forces and he’s doing his best to protect his people given what’s happening) or Strength (associated with the morality about the stronger power of self-control, gentleness, courage and virtue over brute force)

Haytham: Emperor (desire to control one's surroundings, and its appearance could suggest that one is trying too hard to achieve this, possibly causing trouble for others; some elements in life are just not controllable)

Desmond’s real Arcana and his own Persona (which may or may not be some biblically accurate angel-like figure with all of his Bleeds around a small orb similar to the Apple of Eden in the same veins of the Norns design) will only awaken after Joker reaches max level with him.

Also, the Phantom Thieves don’t know it’s him because his form in the Metaverse is always hooded with the robes changing depending on which Persona he uses (at the start, they thought it was different dudes until Desmond changed Personas in midbattle)… and yes, that includes Haytham. Desmond gets a hood too even when he’s using Haytham but he also has Haytham’s tacohat. Them’s the rules.

Thinking about how kaeya probably used to have fun birthday parties as a kid…

He had a small handful of friends from school. He wasn’t very outgoing when he was younger so he had three or four friends but that’s about it. Diluc had a bunch of friends! Diluc loved his brother and would encourage him to play with them even though they were older than him. Kaeyas birthday parties always included his own and Diluc’s friends. There would be treasure hunts, crystal fly catching, all the sweet treats a kiddo could dream of!! Kaeya would get toys, wooden swords and pirate hats to wear! And he’d jump for joy when he found the ‘treasure’ hidden by pirates (Crepus) beneath the winding grape vines. The treasure hunt became a tradition, every year the chest would be harder to find. Even the older kids had a hard time! But Kaeya would always find it! He had a way of sniffing it out! Of course, inside would be toys, mora or candy, not real gems or anything like that.

As he got older, less friends came to his parties. Diluc got busier with knight duty so his old friends from school drifted away. That’s natural! Everyone has their own career path. But kaeya couldn’t help but feel a bit sad when only 6 people came to his 13th birthday party. That’s okay though! He still had Diluc there! And Crepus too! He’d just gotten back from Liyue and brought all sorts of gifts for both of the boys! In Crepus’ absence, Diluc hid the beat up treasure chest himself, not wanting his brother to miss out on something he always looked forward to

For his 15th birthday, Kaeya only had Crepus by his side. Diluc had gone out for cavalry training. Something about the horses getting used to the mud and snow…Whatever. Kaeya was a little peeved, he always looked forward to his birthday. It was a day where he had attention but not in a suffocating way, it was nice. It was nice to have everyone wish him happy birthday, sing to him and be around him on his day. Then the day after, everything would go back to normal and he’d go back to being shy and quiet again. But instead of having a party, he was stuck having dinner with his dad. Crepus obviously felt bad for him, he had the staff go all out with this birthday dinner but Kaeya was feeling grumpy. He still didn’t have any friends…He was looking forward to having time with his brother. They both train with the knights but Diluc trains much more than Kaeya does. He’s out all night and he’s up first thing in the morning, running, lifting, swinging swords. He’s never around anymore…Kaeya misses him. He felt left out. And the cherry on top was his dear brother missing his birthday. He felt a bit silly for being upset…And he felt even worse as he watched his own tears hit the edge of his plate. Crepus was up in an instant, coming to his son’s side to comfort him but…ugh…feelings are hard “I’m fine, I’m fine- just- really, let go” though he didn’t fight off his fathers embrace, he cried into his shoulder as the sun set. There was no treasure chest that year.

No treasure chest the year after either. Or the year after. Kaeya spent his 18th birthday utterly alone. He’s been alone for 7 months now. After Crepus’ passing, Kaeya has been banished from the winery. So instead of that warm, fuzzy feeling he always got on his birthday, the excited buzzing in his veins when he thought about having people over just for his special day…He doesn’t have that now. Turning 18 in Mond is a big deal, usually there’s a big party with wine, cake, songs and story telling. The whole family is supposed to gather round and watch the birthday boy/girl drink their first legal glass of wine! (As if they haven’t drank any before. It’s all for show of course) Not today though. Instead, Kaeya holes himself up in his dinky dorm in the Knights of Favonious building. He can’t bring himself to get out of bed, his limbs feel heavy and his insides feel like cold spaghetti. He’s so alone… His outgoing facade is tiring, he doesn’t want to see anyone today. So he curls in on himself, humming the most pitiful birthday tune to himself as he tries to sleep through the day

Years have passed and traditions have changed. Kaeya has opted to forget about his birthday every year after his 18th. Once November rolls around he just stops looking at the calendar, deciding to actually work instead of procrastinating. He files his papers on time, clears out treasure hoarder camps in record time, even cleans his office when he has nothing to do. Every other night, he stops by the tavern to get a drink, secretly hoping to see his brother. No, he doesn’t drink just to see Diluc but it’s an added bonus. It’s the only time the two of them converse, sometimes…it’s almost like they’ve never fought. They’ll talk for an hour or so but inevitably, something will remind them that they’re still not on good terms. Then the conversation dwindles and Kaeya decides to head home for the night.

Tonight isn’t that night. It’s his birthday yet again, he only knows because Jean wished him a happy birthday and let him have the day off…otherwise he would have ignored it. He had no plans for his big day. He wasn’t tired so there was no need for a nap…He wasn’t hungry so it wasn’t time for lunch just yet… He spent nearly all of his mora on a new sword so he can’t go shopping. So he settles on a walk. Kaeya has memories associated with almost every crevice of Mond, he’s played in all of the woods, fought slimes by lakes and ran from hogs by the cliffs. He remembers it all as his legs just carry him wherever they want to go. Little did he know, they wanted to go home. Along with the rest of him.

He stopped at the winery, mouth open in shock as he found himself there. It wasn’t even that he planned to walk this way it just…happened. He hates that he feels awkward at his old home so he pushes on. Kaeya walks up the front path, looking around at the vines and the crystal flies he loves so much. With a sad sigh, he goes to lay in the grass between rows of vines. Some crystal flies investigate him, landing on his hands when he reaches up or on his knee which is propped up. If he thinks really hard…maybe he can turn into a kid again. Maybe he can turn back time to when he had a warm house full of family and friends. Maybe he could have appreciated his childhood more if he knew what his adulthood looked like . Maybe he would have convinced Diluc to hang back with him or hell! Maybe he would have left his comfort zone more in order to hang around him. Tears slowly trickled down his cheek and wet his eyepatch. It seemed that his birthdays nowadays always required tears. Perhaps allowing himself to be here wasn’t the best choice. With a groan and some cracks from his stiff joints, Kaeya hauls himself up. It’s time to go, he’s been here too long.

He makes his way back to the main path when a crystal fly catches his eye. It looks smaller, it’s light is weaker and it ducks under a vine. Kaeya doesn’t know why he feels drawn to it…but he does. He kneels down, nudging the vines out of the way to see where the little guy went- Kae freezes as his eye lands on a treasure chest. It isn’t the same one from when he was a kid. This one looks worn but still newer. It isn’t rusted and beaten up like the old one was. He almost doesn’t want to open it but his curiosity gets the better of him. He shifts his weight, reaching through the vines to open the chest. A bottle of wine, two glasses…and a letter

I've always been intrigued as to why didn't GMMTV give Arm (Weerayut Chansook) a proper pairing, unlike Mike-TopTap, Tay-New, or Off-Gun.

Joss and Luke have been a part of Thai Lakorns, so it's understandable as to why they don't have a permanent male CP. They've paired Mek Jirakit in a BL series now,...Lee Thanat just like Mond Tanutchai are exactly like Joss and Luke. But why is Arm always given BS character roles?

Everytime I see Arm on-screen, I wish to see more of him but his screen time quite often is very less in comparison to other established actors from GMMTV camp. Why? Because the same thing GMMTV has been doing with Gunsmile Changun.

Ohm is versatile just like Singto,...so that's the reason his pairing with Nanon was hugely successful. Krist is paired with Mike which is weird and equally intriguing. And wrt to Bright and Win,...we know how successful they are like Mew and Gulf.

Now my question to you are as follows: [The questions asked below stems from what I've mentioned above, although it talks about many other BL actors too from different camps.]

Why hasn't GMMTV given Arm and Gunsmile a proper role in a BL series as a main lead despite the fact that their screen presence has always been powerful and impressive to say the least?

How was Joss Wayar roped by GMMTV when originally he was a part of Domundi?

Now that I've mentioned about Domundi,...do you have any idea why Mark Sorntast isn't given any main role in a BL series so far?

GMMTV has roped in Perth Thanapon as one of their artist, just like Joong Archen, what kind of roles do you think he will be offered because there's no mention of his in any of the 2022 GMMTV project?

Luke being half-Japanese, and half-American,...how did he land an opportunity to work in the Thai entertainment industry?

I find Lee Thanat and Tay Tawan very sexy together. But Lee has always been a part of non-BL series. Do you think GMMTV has purposely kept him away from BL, or was it his own choice?

And finally,...who from GMMTV decides as to what kind of role should a certain actor play? Does lobbying and influence play a huge role in this regard?

so regarding arm & gunsmile, I think there are two different reasons. for arm's case, I don't think he particularly strives to get leading roles, or at least he's alway been given side characters bc he does so much more than just be an actor at gmmtv, he has his variety show arm share, school rangers also, he does stylist works, he dances, he has his own shop awc studio... the man is busy. so I think he's actually happy with the small roles he has, especially since he still managed to become popular without a big breakout role, but more for his talent & proximity to other big actors. as for gunsmile, I think that sadly he doesn't quite have the "look" for a main lead, which is also why he keeps getting put in bad guy & mafia guy roles despite him being really fucking talented. I think that for him to get a main role, it would need a very specific role that can't be played by the gmmtv "pretty boys", which is pretty rare to come across. but I agree that both arm & gunsmile deserve better, especially gunsmile whom I'm fairly sure would love a main role.

joss actually applied to gmmtv! it was before the other domundi boys got scouted for why r u & now work with mandee regularly, so he applied on his own. it's interesting to think that if he's waited 6 months to a year to join gmmtv, he might have been in why r u & cutie pie lol.

literally had to google that mark guy bc I don't know him at all, so I have no answer for this one.

I was surprised that perth wasn’t announced to be the lead of the recently announced mid-year series find yourself that gmmtv is producing, so he'll likely have to wait until the gmmtv 2023 event to have a show announced. as for the kind of show he'll make his gmmtv entrance with, idk why I feel like it won't be a bl but something a bit challenging in terms of acting, or he could get roped into a new bl ship by gmmtv execs, idk... one of the two, but I feel like perth wants to step away from bl so the first option would make more sense.

I don't remember all the details, but basically he met kay (kayavine) in the states when they were studying there, and kay went back to thailand and started his channel, then entered gmmtv, so I feel like luke wanted to come live in thailand. he learned thai very quickly & was very easily accepted into gmmtv.

yeah the leetay ship was so cute, so sad we don't see them together as much as we used to now. I fully feel like it's lee's decision tbh, I'm sure he's been offered bl roles, even baker boys was... very queer to say the least, but lee has remained in straight male lead roles only. and honestly I get him bc he's one of the rare thai actors who has only played in straight romances & has still managed to get himself a decently sized fanbase & pretty well known from bl fans, without having to deal with the toxicity & everything else. also I've said it before, but bl actors are generally regarded as less skilled (for the most part, this has started changing with ITSAY) than straight romance actors, so it's also better for your reputation to be in those kind of shows according to certain people.

so there's not one person who decides who's gonna get the role, but for me the directors have a lot of power, and basically if a director likes you, you're kinda garanteed to always get work with them (for example the 46 days director loving off & putting him in astrophile too, or p'jojo and josstay in 3 will be free and the player, or drake in literally almost every work by p’aof.) there are also a lot of gmmtv execs who push the actors they want in certain roles (for example they pushed mond for gram in not me.) so these two things show that obviously a more famous actor who's already worked with many people & been friendly with them will get more roles, but I also think gmmtv execs are there to regulate things as well, and that's why new actors actually get many roles, though they are smaller. if you are lucky to get noticed on your first role like love or film for example, then you can quickly go up to main lead in a series, but once again it's all about luck & opportunity. and certain actors do audition for certain roles (for example first auditioned for his role as yok in not me), but I think by that time most roles have already been decided by the director & gmmtv execs, who are definitely biased & will push for their favorites over smaller but sometimes better for the role actors.

got a couple of extra headcanon asks on my zombie-mode art instagram from my irls. i'm rather happy with them, so i'll repost some here for the sake of archiving and an illusion of consistency. genshin impact round, here we go!

kaeya:

kaeya has dimples when he smiles. this is a hc that my brain came up with at like 4a.m. one night and i haven't been the same ever since. ugh.

self-proclaimed best emergency babysitter ever. he's only mildly better with younger kids (think klee's age) than teens. they think he's cool because of the whole pirate vibe he has going on and because he lets them do stuff other adults don't. he probably didn't get to goof off a lot as a kid, so he's just as excited to try out all the stupid and crazy ideas.

because his brother is diluc ragnvindr, who couldn't tell a lie if his life depended on it when he was a kid, kaeya honed the skill of crafting cover-up stories to perfection. my hc is that growing up, he was the more mature, responsible and cautious sibling, to contrast with diluc, who was kind of naive and reckless, prone to accidentally getting into trouble

he's never been on a proper date nor in a committed relationship (we relate to stan a king with commitment issues). rumours say that he's bedded at least half of mond and he's yet to disprove or confirm them. he tends to joke that it would be a crime to unfairly deprive people of *gestures* "all of this"

he and sister rosaria have a... very complicated relationship. on first glance, one would be forgiven to think that they are good friends. they drink together, talk about philosophy and conspiracies in-between ships of wine, and it seems like they have some sort of an unspoken understanding between them. and that's the thing! takes one to know another! they both have certain suspicions regarding each other, and as much as they find amusement in easy banter that goes on between them, both know that getting close would be nothing but danger

diluc:

jean and diluc had an unspoken *something* going on before diluc left the knights. was it just a crush? was it more? maybe less? they are on good terms even after crepus' death and they clearly still care about each other, but this *something* is always hanging above their heads when they interact

he has freckles!!! they were more obvious when he was a kid because he used to be out in the sun a lot, but you can still see some faint spots over his nose and cheeks (and arms, if he rolls up his sleeves while working)

though he's quick to deny it, he has a soft spot for venti after everything that happened with dvalin. he knows that the bard is sneaking into the winery to steal grapes, apples and wine, but every time he gets caught, diluc's threats sound more like an obligation. there is a lot of banter between, but it's clear that they enjoy each other's company. on rare, special nights, when either of them is feeling like it, they talk about the past.

going off from the previous hc, diluc knows a lot about mondstadt's history and culture. he probably had to learn about it when he was younger, but i like think that he's always been passionate about it. heck, he and jean were probably nerding out about it all the time when they were kids. when he became friends (???) with venti, he got to listen firsthand retellings of so many stories he read about and his love for them only grew

you know bennett, fischl and razor? benny's new (unofficial) adventure team?? well, yeah, they are diluc's emotional support children now because you can't be knockoff batman without knockoff batfam. fischl is his goth theatre daughter. razor is always free to crash at the winery if the weather is too bad for camping. diluc himself has no idea how's it come to this, but, frankly, he should've known what he was singing up for when he didn't correct bennett for slipping up and calling him "dad" the first time

bennett:

drawing your faves with freckles is good for the soul and i have no-self control. bennett is outside all the time, so they are kind of prominent. it adds to his charm!!! (though people keep mistaking him for being younger than he actually is, partially because of them)

he has good luck only in card and board games. but, like... ridiculously good luck. he is practically banned from playing ludo because he has all four figures out before some players can even roll their first six

he will inevitably start calling every older male that sticks around him "dad" sooner or later. he accidentally slips up in front of diluc once and that's so embarrassing, he wants to die— diluc is caught off guard and confused for a grand total of five seconds before he internally goes: "well. guess i'm a father now". almost everyone is surprised when it sticks

he's a surprisingly good writer! he never thought of it as something that he wanted to pursue, but venti's poem class was the kick he needed. early on, he's mostly writing poems and short stories on scrap pieces of paper when he's bored. it isn't until razor offhandedly tells fischl about the hobby and she insists that they need to get him a proper notebook that he starts taking it more seriously. maybe he'll write the next adventurer handbook one day?

he is the kind of guy who can get a crush on anyone who's remotely nice to him (someone tell this boy that standards are a thing). then he never does anything about it. ever. nope. taking it to the grave. he would be extra dense when it comes to romantic advances to boot, so who knows when he'll settle down?
