People getting mad about Firefox switching to using hardware acceleration for video playback because they think "hardware acceleration" is a form of DRM is basically the browser equivalent of people freaking out because some random social media platform's terms of service says they own your posts, then when you read what the ToS in question actually says it's literally just "you grant us the right to show your posts to other people".

PSA- TAKE YOUR FLASHDRIVE OUT OF YOUR COMPUTER
If you are not using your flashdrive to actively back things up- TAKE IT OUT OF YOUR COMPUTER! DO IT NOW! RIGHT. NOW.
Yesterday one of my flashdrives stopped working. My mom took it to our local computer guy to find out what was wrong with it and the guy said the the ONLY way that it could POSSIBLY (not definitely, POSSIBLY) be recovered is by sending it to a FORENSICS COMPANY that charges NINE HUNDRED AND FIFTY DOLLARS ($950) as a flat rate for this service. IF the stuff can even be recovered.
The computer guy said that he has seen all types of flashdrives, no matter the quality, fail because people don't know that they need to take them out of their computers when they're not using them. A few of the things that can happen are the flashdrive can overheat or a virus could destroy it if your computer happens to pick up a virus.
I have thousands of pictures and videos on that flashdrive, precious, precious memories of kids I've worked with that I may never see again in my life and now I might have lost them because I didn't know to take my flashdrive out of my computer when I'm not using it. The cute pictures of my three new kittens I've been posting? On that flashdrive. Memories from holidays and birthdays and camping adventures might be lost forever.
TAKE. YOUR. FLASHDRIVE. OUT. OF. YOUR. COMPUTER!!!!!!
(please for the love of all that is good share this so other people don't have it happen too)

Silco has a roomba that he loves dearly. He upgrades every time he can and he loves it. He has the best dishwasher available because he hates dishes and he loves that it beeps nicely when it’s done. He loves technology. From his Alexa who he can ask to play his music while he cooks, to his vest that heats up nice and warm from a battery pack. Jinx still has to help him add contacts into his cellphone, but he just asks Siri to call people.
Vander falls over the roomba a lot because he doesn’t notice it. He doesn’t trust the dishwasher to clean the dishes enough. He thinks the Alexa spy’s on them.
He does actually like the socks Silco gifted him that have a little button so they warm up. But other then a that and his radio, he doesn’t much care for technology.
#Vander had a flip phone#Vander likes the streaming services too because he can watch old movies with Isha#Silco loves technology like keurig machines and cordless vibrators#egg_company#fanfic#zaundads#zaun dads#silco x vander#vander x silco#vanco

Hey, pals! Weird Bleach mystery time!!
So, I was perusing the Bleach wiki, as is my wont, when I found this interesting tidbit on the Squad 4 page:
Members of the 4th Division are not allowed in the Human World.
which is cited as coming from Bleach manga; Volume 13, Chapter 111, end of chapter sketch. But when I looked it up, it's this:
It's Squad 4-related, obviously, but it doesn't say anything about the World of the Living. (My copy is the Viz version, and I also checked, ummmm, an online copy that I know of that has a slightly different translation and a compilation I found that someone had made of all the chapter sketches and they were all the same.)
This anecdote is mentioned in more detail under Iemura's entry:
In order to increase his handsomeness, Iemura searched Soul Society for contact lenses but was unable to find any. When he heard rumors of a renegade Shinigami selling contacts for Shinigami in the Human World, Iemura used his self-proclaimed fame and handsomeness to get around the ban on 4th Division members going to the Human World in order to find the contact lenses seller. When the rogue Shinigami instead offered him laser surgery using tiny beams of Reishi, Iemura thought it sounded too good to be true. Upon seeing the machine that performed the surgery, and noticing the dark eyeshadow on the Shinigami's face that resembled burn marks, he chickened out. Due to certain unspecified problems, he can no longer go to the Human World, leaving him wondering what would have happened if he had tried the surgery and if he would still be single.
This is sourced to the chapter sketches accompanying 109-112, which are literally all just Iemura complaining about his job and Squad 11 and Captain Kyouraku, it doesn't say anything about this shaggy dog contact lens story.
Does anyone know what gives? Is it possible that the chapter sketches got changed or moved around when the chapters were collected into a tankouban? It seems too big a difference to be blamed on translation error, but then again, the picture is just Iemura writing in his dumb journal, so maybe the text could have been changed. I feel like I have the vaguest memory of all this nonsense--maybe it got adapted into a Shinigami's Cup at some point??? I don't know!! I just wanted to know if Squad 4 was allowed to go to the WotL, like, if some shinigami got a neck injury on a mission and shouldn't be moved, but now I'm invested. I'm in too deep. someone who is good at Squad 4 trivia please help me out. my family is dying.
#squad 4#yasochika iemura#presumably i could contact the people at the bleach wiki somehow but i would never do that#wtf why would they have contact lenses in soul society THEY DON'T EVEN HAVE CAKE#who the hell is this rogue shinigami in the living world selling questionable medical technology? does urahara or isshin know him?#is squad 4 prevented from going to the wotl SO THEY DON'T DEFECT AND START OFFERING DISCOUNT MEDICAL TOURISM SERVICES???#i wrote 72 words of fanfic today. the first i have written in 2 weeks. would i have written more if this hadn't happened? it is unknowable.#the mystery of iemura's chapter sketch contact lenses

What is an Algorithm in 30 Seconds?
An algorithm is simply a series of instructions.
Think of a recipe: boil water, add pasta, wait, drain, eat. These are steps to follow.
In computer terms, an algorithm is a set of instructions for a computer to execute.
In machine learning, these instructions enable computers to learn from data, making machine learning algorithms unique and powerful.

🇺🇸 Before purchasing the iconic ICQ Messenger from Mirabilis, AOL Inc. had already developed its own internet messaging tool. Released in May 1997 as a stand-alone download for Microsoft Windows, AIM (AOL Instant Messenger) quickly became the go-to platform for online communication. Created by American Online Inc., AIM used the OSCAR and TOC protocols to connect users in real time, becoming a cultural phenomenon by the late 1990s.
💾 At its peak, AIM had the largest share of the instant messaging market in North America, particularly in the United States, where it held 52% of the market as of 2006. This figure excludes other AOL-related instant messaging software like ICQ and iChat. AIM's main competitors included ICQ (which AOL acquired in 1998), Yahoo! Messenger, and MSN Messenger. AOL had a notable rivalry with PowWow and Microsoft, sparking the "chat wars" in 1999.
🚶♂️ The AIM mascot, designed by JoRoan Lazaro, debuted with the first release in 1997. This yellow stickman-like figure, known as the "Running Man," appeared on all AIM logos and wordmarks and was always featured at the top of the buddy list.
👩🎓🧑🎓 AIM was particularly popular among teens and college students in the United States and beyond. Its away message feature allowed users to share their whereabouts, thoughts, and plans with friends, making it a staple of daily digital interaction. AIM wasn't just a messaging app; it was a way of life.
📉 Despite its early success, AIM's popularity began to decline in the 2010s. The rise of Gmail's Google Talk, the advent of SMS, and the explosive growth of social networks like Facebook led to a decrease in AOL subscribers. AIM's fall from grace is often compared to other once-dominant services like Myspace.
📆 In June 2015, AOL was acquired by Verizon Communications, which later merged AOL and Yahoo into Oath Inc. Unfortunately, on December 15, 2017, AIM was discontinued, marking the end of an era.
💔 Though AIM is no longer with us, its impact on digital communication remains unforgettable. It paved the way for the instant messaging services we rely on today, leaving behind a legacy of nostalgia and innovation.

“TORU docking system used to manually dock Progress freighters to ISS. Cosmonaut Alexander Y. Kaleri, Expedition 8 flight engineer, practices docking procedures with the manual TORU rendezvous system in the Zvezda Service Module on the International Space Station (ISS) in preparation for the docking of the Progress 13 on January 31. With the manual TORU mode, Kaleri can perform necessary guidance functions from Zvezda via two hand controllers in the event of a failure of the ‘Kurs’ automated rendezvous and docking (AR&D;) of the Progress. A fiery rift has emerged within the MAGA camp, pitting tech titans like Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy against staunch Trump supporters. The clash revolves around a polarizing issue: immigration.
Silicon Valley Stance:
Elon Musk, an H-1B visa immigrant himself, champions merit-based immigration reforms, arguing that America’s dominance hinges on attracting top global talent. He likened it to building a winning team: “You need to recruit top talent wherever they may be.” Vivek Ramaswamy echoed this sentiment, criticizing the US for valuing mediocrity over excellence.
The Flashpoint:
Tensions soared after the appointment of Sriram Krishnan, an Indian-origin AI policy lead, in Trump’s administration. Krishnan’s past support for easing green card caps triggered a backlash among Trump loyalists, with far-right commentator Laura Loomer branding the move “deeply disturbing.”
This debate signals deepening fractures in MAGA’s unity as America grapples with its immigration future.
