Ice Artifice

Machines, cold blooded as they seem, yearn to stay unseen, in bright furious dreams.

This one's meant to be inspired by ice dragons, but I had no idea how I'd draw the tail, so I guess they don't have one. I wonder if subconciously I thought it'd be too xenomorphy that way. I wanted to capture some elements of the "Bright Night Terror" piece I did last year but also try out a palette I haven't used recently.

In my setting the robots are meant to be able to start out more humanoid, then transform into increasingly strange and curious forms, and the later ones are supposed to be crazy like dinosaurs, spider tanks, squid planes and so on.

So, where are the later forms? Somehow in between 2021 (?) and now I lost some of the confidence in just dumping pieces with unfinished ideas - there was a point I'd have one out every one or two days... Nowadays I give myself an hour or so to draw these and just accept that I have a tendency to do the humanoid ones cause I can pose myself in the mirror as reference. Unfortunately I am not a beautiful robot lady (yet). I'm just a robot beep boop.

By the way, this five fingered hand is just because I had some confidence today in my hand gestures again. The ones with weapons for hands probably just transformed their arms into those temporarily - maybe most of them have "natural" hand states. If so I intend for plenty of them have "natural" hands that are claws or have unusual finger counts, formats and arrangements - I don't think theres any "default" hand.

Accessibility for the different hand, claw and manipulator types is meant to come up from time to time in the setting - so not everyone can pilot or operate everything, but theres accomodations that can be made for most robots to operate most things, because that is what the Emperor wills.

Why would robots have an Emperor? So that I can write a story about what happens when the Emperor falls.

Anyway this is Undertow in his Ice Genasi form, it only happens when he is in extreme cold for a long period of time. He’s not having a good time

obnoxious nerdy nitpicky questions, feel free to ignore: is the difference between a water&ice elemental about controlling the temperature or the state of matter? for example, if some water was colder than the normal freezing point, but under enough pressure that it was still in liquid form, who would be able to control it? what about the opposite—water under such high pressures that it became solid, but was above the normal freezing point? are there separate water vapor elementals, or can both ice/water elementals use gaseous water? if ice elementals can manually drop the temperature, can water elementals raise it, or is it only one way?

Don't worry, any question is welcome. And to answer your nerdy questions:

1: State of matter.

2: Water Elemental, as even though the water was colder, it wouldn't be frozen.

3: Ice Elemental, as the water solidified.

4: Both can use gasesous water, the difference being that for Water Elementals it would be more like a refreshing type of air, and for Ice Elementals it would be more like cold air or a snowstorm, and it would also be denser, possibly even like a mist.

5: And no, Water Elementals cannot raise the temperature of the water or air, on the contrary, they can even lower it, but not to the freezing point. It would still be in liquid form, but very cold. And by the way, both types of Ice Elementals can withstand extreme cold temperatures, but Water Elementals are much less resistant to extreme cold than Ice Elementals.

Shes the reincarnation of the Ice Elemental! and a certain character who isn’t around anymore… I wonder who that could be… 🤔💭

To explain why shes a reincarnation of two characters. I like to think that the elemental energy itself reincarnations into different people, but the people themselves are separate from the reincarnation process unless they chose to reincarnate, tho the chances of them being an elemental again are slim as HELL.

And to explain how shes an ice elemental. To out it bluntly. Patience died lmao rip bozo. She didn’t freeze herself in time / not at all and died with her fellow elementals during the b-b-b-b-bomb. I’ll expand more on certain pieces of the elemental lore I swip swapped, but for now now I’ll explain how the Elemental miniseries even happens.

Instead of having the candy elemental (who is unnamed and undecided at this point in time-) replace Patiences role, its more so Marcy trying to make sense of the elemental residue in the crown, while trying to harness and study said residue, the candy elemental reincarnate (not Bonnie) donks it all up and messes with Marcys magic.

The rest will be decided and continued in time! ! !
