Blog Moderation FAQs
Hi everyone!
Every time we answer an ask about the queue/inbox situation we get several of the same suggestions in our inbox. While we truly appreciate those of you trying to be helpful, I wanted to take some time to address some of the suggestions and the reasons behind our position on said suggestions.
Have you considered closing the ask box for a while until you work through what you have?
No. With as many asks as there are in the box, it would result in the ask box being closed for quite some time, which we don't think is really what anyone wants!
Closing the box would allow for us to "catch up", but it also would mean potential dry periods of content.
Keeping the ask box open means we need to scroll forever to reach the old asks, but it also means that we are set to deliver consistent content for a while, and are never at risk for an empty queue when the inevitable drop in fandom interest hits.
Why don't you post more frequently?
Actually, we do! We've exploded recently, so many of you may not remember ye olden days of our blog's founder doing their best as a one person show and we got one post a day... ish. Then, when the ask box exploded to 100 asks (haha) they brought in the first round of new mods (including me!). During this time, we were able to build a solid queue. We were then able to post 5-6 times a day.
With a healthy queue and a healthy ask box, we were able to bump the post frequency to 12 times a day. Most of the first wave of mods worked through some asks and then largely went inactive. This is fine, it happens. After struggling to keep up a frequency of 12/day as a one person show once again, we recruited new mods with some activity guidelines.
To maintain a posting frequency of 12 times a day, each mod needs to add 3 posts to the queue a day, or 21 posts to the queue a week. We ask that every mod contributes 30 times a week, that way we have a healthy buffer of content for holidays, emergencies, and just general time away from the internet.
While the confessions are sent in by y'all and editing them in photoshop is a generally simple process, it still does take time. Time in the game to find and take the screenshots, time in the editing software to create the image, then posting and tagging appropriately. Those cursed edits y'all love so much take even more time.
We're all adults here. And your mods are too. They have lives off of tumblr, often complete with bills and day jobs. Honestly, less fun than the little horny blog, but *vague gestures towards capitalist hellscape*
For these reasons, posting 12 times a day is going to be a hard cap for the foreseeable future. In the most loving way possible: If you are submitting an ask now and expecting to see it a week or even a month from now, you are going to be sorely disappointed. Submit your ask and know that it will be appreciated by the community when its time comes.
"A confession is never late, nor is it early. A confession arrives precisely when it means to." - Elminster (probably)
Why don't you just get more mods?
Have you heard the phrase "too many cooks in the kitchen"? Every person added to a process adds another variable, and the more variables, the harder it is to deliver a consistent experience. Additionally, the goal is to find people who can stay pretty consistently active, which can be a hard ask for a lot of people. We're very grateful for the team that we have now, and we aren't seeking new mods at this time.
Why don't you post more confessions about (character/female/etc)?
We are a submissions blog. We work with the content we are given. You need to be the horny you wish to see in the world. I know in general there's a lack of confessions for female characters, and there's an analysis to be made about how different gender/sexual identities interact with fandom and how that affects the content available in communities for consumption, but I'm not the person to make it.
Thank you all for continuing to be amazing, it is truly an honor to serve 🫡

i think it’s really really important that we keep reminding people that what we’re calling ai isn’t even close to intelligent and that its name is pure marketing. the silicon valley tech bros and hollywood executives call it ai because they either want it to seem all-powerful or they believe it is and use that to justify their use of it to exploit and replace people.
chat-gpt and things along those lines are not intelligent, they are predictive text generators that simply have more data to draw on than previous ones like, you know, your phone’s autocorrect. they are designed to pass the turing test by having human-passing speech patterns and syntax. they cannot come up with anything new, because they are machines programmed on data sets. they can’t even distinguish fact from fiction, because all they are actually capable of is figuring out how to construct a human-sounding response using applicable data to a question asked by a human. you know how people who use chat-gpt to cheat on essays will ask it for reference lists and get a list of texts that don’t exist? it’s because all chat-gpt is doing is figuring out what types of words typically appear in response to questions like that, and then stringing them together.
midjourney and things along those lines are not intelligent, they are image generators that have just been really heavily fine-tuned. you know how they used to do janky fingers and teeth and then they overcame that pretty quickly? that’s not because of growing intelligence, it’s because even more photographs got added to their data sets and were programmed in such a way that they were able to more accurately identify patterns in the average amount of fingers and teeth across all those photos. and it too isn’t capable of creation. it is placing pixels in spots to create an amalgamation of images tagged with metadata that matches the words in your request. you ask for a tree and it spits out something a little quirky? it’s not because it’s creating something, it’s because it gathered all of its data on trees and then averaged it out. you know that “the rest of the mona lisa” tweet and how it looks like shit? the fact that there is no “rest” of the mona lisa aside, it’s because the generator does not have the intelligence required to identify what’s what in the background of such a painting and extend it with any degree of accuracy, it looked at the colours and approximate shapes and went “oho i know what this is maybe” and spat out an ugly landscape that doesn’t actually make any kind of physical or compositional sense, because it isn’t intelligent.
and all those ai-generated voices? also not intelligent, literally just the same vocal synth we’ve been able to do since daisy bell but more advanced. you get a sample of a voice, break it down into the various vowel and consonant sounds, and then when you type in the text you want it to say, it plays those vowel and consonant sounds in the order displayed in that text. the only difference now is that the breaking it down process can be automated to some extent (still not intelligence, just data analysis) and the synthesising software can recognise grammar a bit more and add appropriate inflections to synthesised voices to create a more natural flow.
if you took the exact same technology that powers midjourney or chat-gpt and removed a chunk of its dataset, the stuff it produces would noticeably worsen because it only works with a very very large amount of data. these programs are not intelligent. they are programs that analyse and store data and then string it together upon request. and if you want evidence that the term ai is just being used for marketing, look at the sheer amount of software that’s added “ai tools” that are either just things that already existed within the software, using the same exact tech they always did but slightly refined (a lot of film editing software are renaming things like their chromakey tools to have “ai” in the name, for example) or are actually worse than the things they’re overhauling (like the grammar editor in office 365 compared to the classic office spellcheck).
but you wanna real nifty lil secret about the way “ai” is developing? it’s all neural nets and machine learning, and the thing about neural nets and machine learning is that in order to continue growing in power it needs new data. so yeah, currently, as more and more data gets added to them, they seem to be evolving really quickly. but at some point soon after we run out of data to add to them because people decided they were complete or because corporations replaced all new things with generated bullshit, they’re going to stop evolving and start getting really, really, REALLY repetitive. because machine learning isn’t intelligent or capable of being inspired to create new things independently. no, it’s actually self-reinforcing. it gets caught in loops. "ai” isn’t the future of art, it’s a data analysis machine that’ll start sounding even more like a broken record than it already does the moment its data sets stop having really large amounts of unique things added to it.
#steph's post tag#only good thing to come out of the evolution of image generation and recognition is that captchas have actually gotten easier#because computers can recognise even the blurriest photos now#so instead captcha now gives you really really clear images of things that look nothing like each other#(like. ''pick all the chairs'' and then there's a few chairs a few bicycles and a few trees)#but with a distorted watermark overlaid on the images so that computers can't read them

👨🏻🔬 Carmen "Chico" Guerra's Elevator Eyes, a Totally Scientific Analysis
Introduction
Oz, created by Tom Fontana and produced for HBO in 1997-2003, is a first of its kind TV program in many ways. While much focus over the years has rightly been given to the show's melodramatic "realism" in depicting prison life, its unapologetic handling of controversial subject matter, and its innovative approach to dramatic storytelling, little attention has been paid to the fucking insane way the character Carmen "Chico" Guerra acts every time he is in Miguel Alvarez's vicinity.
In this study, I examine part of this behavior, the observed tendency of Guerra to direct intense visual exploration at Alvarez's person, an act colloquially known as "elevator eyes". Using a scene from Oz season 5 episode 8 for the basis of this initial study, I clutch my head and ask, not for the first time, "hey, what the fuck? Is anybody else seeing this??"
Method
Using video editing software, I isolated the 4:14 second clip from Oz episode 5x08 in which character Guerra can be heard uttering the words "Oh, you're so fucking beautiful when you're angry". Using frame-by-frame scrubbing, each of the 110 frames contained therein were captured and visually analysed using the bare eye to discern the direction of Guerra's eye movement. Because Guerra's eye movements were fluid and roaming, only the extreme end of each direction of eyeline was counted. In total, 10 frames were selected from various points in the clip to represent the extreme ends of each moment Guerra's attention shifted in a different direction.
2 of the 10 images were further examined by the bare eye and were concluded to be transitional eye movements and thus discarded.
(Figure 1): 8 images depicting the changes in Carmen "Chico" Guerra's eye line.
Results
In total, 8 distinct eye directions were produced using the method described above (Figure 1). From these results, Guerra doing the Most™ has been confirmed. As if there was any doubt.
Discussion
What exactly is Guerra looking at? Alvarez's lips? His scar? His nose? His ear? Scrutinising each moment individually, I hypothesise that Guerra is observing Alvarez's general profile (1, 3, 7), his scar (2), the stiff collar of his suit (4), the expression in his eyes (5), and his lips (6, 8), however more study is needed in his area.
Research on Guerra's elevator eye tendencies can be broadened with analysis of other interactions, including scenes such as from episodes 2x04, 2x07, 2x08, 6x01, 6x02, 6x06, and 6x08.
Further study is also needed to understand why Guerra brings a horny energy to all of his antagonistic interactions with Miguel Alvarez compared to others. Suggested areas of study include episodes 2x07, 2x08, 3x04, 3x08, 5x02, and 5x03, with focus on vocal delivery (including pitch, timber, volume), word choice, and body language.
Conclusion
I love inventing new useless ways to spend my time. Also Guerra has a big boner for Alvarez.

YouTube and Stuff by u/SecondhandCoke
YouTube and Stuff First, I'm trying to get my YouTube channel up in the next couple of weeks... just for those who care. If you have naming suggestions, I'm all ears. If there are things you like to regularly hear from me, let me know. I know y'all want "tea" when I've got it, and I will provide that from time to time, when appropriate. I plan to do a lot of debunking using the logical fallacies and an insider's look at PR strategies. I plan to do a lot of Markle Snarkle, but if you've enjoyed things I've done in the past like the Handwriting Analysis, I can do that once a week, I can do tarot spreads (for fun only, ovbs), I can critique in a constructive and friendly way other content creator's assertions (if y'all ask and direct my attention to it). Also, thanks to TRG for ALREADY giving me a lot of great advice. I also need advice on the easiest way to manage graphics, editing, etc. I'd LOVE to be able to animate my little Secondhand Coke avatar to say what I'm voicing over, but don't know how. Music is set. I'm a musician, and I've gotten my little instrumental zinger almost read to go... I really just have to figure out how to edit it together. Like using a macbook pro or iphone. Any helpful hints would be appreciated. Inexpensive or free editing software recs, places where I can get images and video that are free, even other music blurbs... I can use all the help I can get. Anyway, re: Prince Harry, the impression I am getting is that the people around Harry want to be worthy of Harry's trust. They won't leak his location, but if I'm reading between the lines accurately, he reportedly gave Meghan a fake locale that only she had, and she leaked it. So I think the scales continue to fall from his eyes. It's been weeks since we've seen Harry, at least 21 days since we've gotten a verified location. (I think). I get the feeling the people around him are looking after his best interests while he focuses on getting himself together. That's just my read based on what little bit of info I could get. But for those of you who've encouraged me to do a channel in the past, I'm pretty much ready to get her going and would love your advice and input. post link: https://ift.tt/x3bpoes author: SecondhandCoke submitted: October 21, 2024 at 05:25PM via SaintMeghanMarkle on Reddit disclaimer: all views + opinions expressed by the author of this post, as well as any comments and reblogs, are solely the author's own; they do not necessarily reflect the views of the administrator of this Tumblr blog. 𝐓𝐨𝐩 5 𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐒𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐇𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 2025
In today’s fast-paced tech world, side hustles can be a fantastic way for professionals to boost their skills and earn extra income. With advancements in artificial intelligence, remote working, and a growing need for tech solutions, 2025 is filled with exciting possibilities for tech enthusiasts.
This post dives into five promising side hustles, supported by data and trends. Techies can capitalize on their expertise and thrive in these areas.
1. Remote IT Support
With businesses shifting to hybrid work models, the demand for remote IT support has skyrocketed. According to a report from the International Data Corporation (IDC), the global IT services market is set to hit $1 trillion by 2025, hinting at tremendous opportunities in this field.
Techies with skills in troubleshooting can offer services to both businesses and individuals. The TechServe Alliance notes that the demand for IT support roles surged over 10% last year, making this a vibrant market.
Starting a remote IT support hustle is easy. Freelancing platforms like Upwork and Fiverr allow techies to find clients quickly. Depending on the complexity of the service, they can earn between $25 and $150 per hour while enjoying the flexibility to work on their own schedule.
2. Cybersecurity Consulting
As cyber threats evolve, companies increasingly prioritize cybersecurity. A report from Cybersecurity Ventures predicts that costs from cybercrime could reach $10.5 trillion annually by 2025. This statistic underscores the growing need for cybersecurity professionals.
Techies with experience in cybersecurity can offer their services to businesses looking to protect sensitive data. A survey by Proofpoint found that 55% of organizations fended off phishing attacks, indicating a strong demand for seasoned professionals.
In this consulting niche, technology experts can earn between $100 and $500 per hour, based on their experience and project complexity. Earning certifications, like the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), can significantly boost credibility and income potential.

3. Software Development and Mobile App Creation
As the world becomes more mobile-first, demand for software and app development is expected to rise. Statista reports that the global app economy may generate over $407.31 billion in revenue by 2026, presenting a lucrative chance for techies skilled in coding.
Developers can enter this space through freelancing or by launching their own projects. Tools like React Native and Flutter allow for efficient cross-platform application development, saving both time and resources.
Freelancers can charge between $50 and $200 per hour based on expertise and project scope. For those willing to turn a side hustle into a full business, the income from app sales and in-app purchases can be enormous.
4. Data Analysis and Visualization
Data remains one of the most valuable assets today, with analytics aiding decision-making. The global data analytics market might reach $300 billion by 2026, creating fertile ground for techies skilled in data analysis.
Freelance data analysts can help companies extract valuable insights from their data. Utilizing tools like Tableau, Power BI, and R can help create compelling visualizations, making their services even more attractive.
Data analysts typically charge between $40 and $150 per hour depending on analysis complexity. Mastering data storytelling enables techies to transform raw data into practical insights, positioning themselves as key assets for businesses.
5. E-Learning Course Creation
The rapid growth of online learning has made creating and selling e-learning courses a sought-after side hustle. The global e-learning market is anticipated to reach $375 billion by 2026, driven by rising demand for skill development.
Techies can harness their knowledge to develop courses on platforms like Udemy or Teachable. Topics can range from programming languages to software tools and emerging technologies, such as AI and machine learning. Statista reported that 42% of online course creators are tech professionals, showing the market's strong bias toward technical education.

Last Monday of the Week 2024-03-25
Can't tell if this is allergies or if I'm sick because spring is in the air
Listening: I have been listening to The Layover podcast, the behind the scenes podcast for Jet Lag The Game. I only got into Jet Lag pretty recently because I had Nebula anyway and saw it come up. Great show, both because the premise is great (carefully designed games incorporating travel on the scale of countries) and because they can actually edit this incredibly difficult pile of footage into something readable.
The Behind The Scenes is an interesting mix of talk about the on-the-ground situation of playing the game and the filmmaking that goes on after the fact, there's some cool insight into how and why they edit the way they do and it shows why it works so well.
I think you have to have Nebula to listen to the podcast? It does just spit out an RSS feed if you ask nicely though. Thank you podcasts.
Watching: Actually watched The Gay And Wondrous Life of Caleb Gallo, the video series that launched like two dozen reaction images.
youtube
It's funny, it's a well put together indie comedy series. You've probably seen most of the really standout bits already even if you don't know it already but it is worth watching as a time capsule of web comedy, it's less than two hours long all told.
Reading: Started Glory In The Thunder by 0xabad1dea. I don't know what her real name is. I've had GITT in my ebooks library forever, 0xabad1dea is the main reason I got on twitter back in like 2016 (her and a couple other software blogs) and is why my Fediverse feed is still like a quarter security researchers by weight. She's probably one of the most well known static analysis researchers in the world.
Anyway Glory In The Thunder is a gaslamp-ish fantasy, although leaning very fantasy on the gaslamps. Very teenage characters which is whiplash but only because it's been a moment. Lots of very loud characters who announce themselves and their intentions, some fun seven dimensional politics going on, and a lot of jumping back and forth in the histories of the various gods who are constantly hanging around in the plot.
I think @shieldfoss has bugged me to read this before so you'll be glad to know that I am now.
I like this, I'm about halfway through. It's easy to keep track of despite having enough fantasy names to choke a horse, although I should really stop worrying about that, I've read the Shadowdance series you really have to try to beat that one. It's also a free book, you can get it at @gloryinthethunder.
Playing: Got a VR headset. Fidgeting with said headset. Figured out how to do wireless linked VR from Linux and Windows which is good, I should have all the kinks worked out, I'll have to see how I square the onboard capabilities of the Quest 2 with having a PC and fast WiFi.
Making: Finally run through enough smaller prints on the new hotend to feel confident running off the final endcap, so that's done. The parts of the 3D printed NAS case are complete, and I have started my first pass sanding which is going to take a while because PETG is very slippery. Once that's sanded I'll take it in to the shared workshop and run through some primer layers and some paint.
Tools and Equipment: Flat network cable is a godsend if you're running it in open air in a house. Absolutely useless for pulling through walls or running in conduit, and completely bereft of shielding, but having a flat cord that can press up against frames and sideboards really does make it all neater. I ran flat cat6 for all of this.

The image was the first official photograph released following the princess' abdominal surgery in January and was circulated by major news and photography agencies.
However, four of the largest agencies issued a "kill notice" for the image, asking those who were using it to remove it.
AP reported the reason for the image recall was: "It appears that the source [Kensington Palace] has manipulated the image in a way that did not meet AP’s photo standards."
"The photo shows an inconsistency in the alignment of Princess Charlotte’s left hand," AP stated.
Reuters later reported it had removed the photo for similar reasons to AP.
"Reuters picture editors said part of the sleeve of Kate's daughter's cardigan did not line up properly, suggesting that the image had been altered," it said.
"Reuters could not immediately establish how, why or by whom the alteration had been made.
"Leading picture agencies distributing news photographs prohibit the publication of images that have been overly edited."
The Reuters Handbook of Journalism states that Photoshop can only be used in limited matters like formatting, cropping, sizing and balancing tone and colour.
"Materially altering a picture in Photoshop or any other image editing software will lead to dismissal," it says.
AFP and Getty Images also issued their own notices and removed the image from their sites.
The photo is still up on the Princess' social media accounts.
Dr TJ Thomson, senior lecturer in visual communication and digital media at RMIT, says the image shows clear evidence of manipulation.
"The most obvious example is around Princess Charlotte’s left sleeve cuff. The left side of Princess Kate’s hair and her right hand also appear to be unnaturally blurred," he says.

Dr Thomson also ran the image through a forensic analysis software called WeVerify.
"That suggests that in addition to the cuff area on Princess Charlotte, the branches in the top-right corner of the image were also manipulated."

📖TIPS: Focus stacking
Hello, community! It's time for the last part of this month's tips. As you know, we invited @jbarchietto to be our guest tips mod for September. He is showing us how to stack pictures using the focus stacking technique.
"Finally, one last example to show that this technique also works in the Studio. I've set the scene again in depth with the sailboat, which is quite long. My camera doesn't allow me to obtain a depth of field large enough to contain everything. In addition, there are 2 floors separated by glass to show above and below the sea at the same time. The bottom elements are set back from the boat.
I proceeded in the same way as for the caravan of forestmen, varying the focus over the whole scene. Again, I took 10 images to cover the whole field and edited the stack in Helicon Focus. The video shows the software's analysis of the images and its ability to detect sharp areas and place different layers of depth in 3D."
The algorithm will isolate the sharp areas of each image to recompose an entirely sharp image. And then, the final picture is processed. I’m working with raw files, so I can edit the final picture just as a regular shot to enhance colors or add details."
Thank you for accepting our invitation and being our Guest Tips Mod, @jbarchietto !

AI's Quiet Coup: 5 Industries That Won’t Survive the Shift by 2026
It’s Not Hype Anymore — The Takeover Has Already Begun
The robots didn’t just arrive — they’ve been here for a while.
What started as a slow wave of automation has now turned into a silent tsunami. In 2025 alone, over 76,000 jobs were erased by artificial intelligence. Not restructured. Not moved offshore. Just… gone.
I recently spoke to a software engineer whose sister — a legal assistant at a boutique firm — was let go with no explanation beyond “AI is handling it now.” In another case, a friend in finance watched a third of his department disappear after their firm integrated a generative AI platform.
This isn’t theoretical. This isn’t sci-fi. It’s real, it’s happening now, and it’s moving fast. While tech headlines are still busy debating “what AI might do,” the reality is that it’s already doing it — and five industries are squarely in the crosshairs.
Here’s where the quiet takeover is already well underway.

Customer Support: Replaced by Scripts That Learn Faster Than Humans Remember long wait times with support centers? Soon, that might sound as outdated as dial-up. AI-powered chatbots like GPT-4.5 and Anthropic’s Claude are already running 24/7 support desks — answering queries, resolving issues, even handling refunds.
Companies like Shopify, Delta, and banks worldwide have quietly begun replacing entire tiers of customer service reps with conversational AI. The bots don’t sleep, don’t unionize, and — with reinforcement learning — they get smarter every week.
If your job involves reading off a script or solving FAQs, the script has already moved into the cloud.
Legal & Paralegal Services: Case Law Meets Code AI isn't arguing in court yet — but it’s doing everything up to that point. Contract analysis, compliance checks, research summaries, legal document generation — tools like Harvey AI and Lexis+ AI are handling it all in seconds.
Law firms have slashed junior roles and entry-level paralegal positions, replacing them with AI assistants that don’t need coffee breaks or billing hours. In some firms, AI now drafts 90% of boilerplate contracts.
If you’re fresh out of law school and hoping to cut your teeth on discovery work — AI already beat you to it.
Accounting & Bookkeeping: Excel Just Got Smarter Think your spreadsheet skills will protect you? Think again. Accounting, once considered a stable career path, is being unbundled by AI platforms that can categorize expenses, reconcile books, and flag anomalies in real-time.
QuickBooks and Xero already offer built-in AI features that cut the need for junior accountants by half. Entire departments that once ran payroll or handled invoicing are now managed by a single person and a smart algorithm.
It’s not that your job is being outsourced. It’s being out-thought.
Content Creation: The Rise of the Robot Writer Blog posts, ad copy, press releases, video scripts — AI can now generate all of it in seconds. Companies used to hire teams of copywriters. Now they license tools like Jasper, Copy.ai, or just tap into GPT-based systems.
What used to take a week now takes 10 minutes. Worse, it’s not just text. AI is generating images, editing video, and even making music — often indistinguishable from human output.
If you write for a living, you're no longer just competing with other writers. You're competing with a machine that doesn’t need royalties.
Education & Tutoring: Personalized Learning at Scale AI tutors are now outperforming their human counterparts in both engagement and results. Khan Academy’s “Khanmigo” and platforms like Sora are building personalized learning journeys, tailored in real-time to each student’s pace and level.
While teachers are still essential for emotional intelligence and guidance, administrative tasks — grading, lesson planning, student analytics — are rapidly becoming automated. And for many students worldwide, AI tutors are the classroom.
In developing nations, this shift isn’t just replacing teachers — it’s bypassing them altogether.
What Comes Next? This isn’t a doomsday prediction. But it is a reality check.
Goldman Sachs predicts that up to 300 million jobs could be affected by AI. The early tremors are here — the layoffs, the restructures, the quiet departures. But this wave isn’t random. It’s targeted. Predictable. Strategic.
If you work in a repetitive, rule-based role in any of the industries above, now’s the time to act. Reskilling, adapting, and learning to work with AI is no longer optional. It’s the difference between staying relevant and being quietly replaced.
The takeover isn’t coming. It’s here. And it’s accelerating.
