During a long-running, long-overlooked section of LEGO history, the brand ran the Belville theme with small plastic dolls larger than minifigures...and inadvertently created one of the most articulated, most displayable small doll/figurine toys I've ever encountered. And LEGO simply did not sem to realize this. These dolls connect to LEGO studs for standing display, and can hold most anything a classic minifigure can, with the elegance of the LEGO system making their potential for accessories limitless while their posing makes them display naturally with them. you can see that the script originally had ford building an anti-gravity machine for the science fair (which i guess acts as foreshadowing to the portal?), but the sun lightbulb feels like it would've connected to the opening of stanchurian candidate....

#it probably would've made stan's issues in that ep hit even harder but honestly its not very visually... distinct? impressive? idk #the perpetual motion machine kinda looks like a triangle and probably seems more useful and impressive in comparison tho #and yes footbot is literally a football ducttaped to a toaster #ford pines #stanford pines #stan pines #stanley pines #i do kinda like this version of stan goofing off in class #altho them switching glasses wouldn't work as well with the teen stan design we ended up getting #even still i think briefly showing them doing any type of twin switches is kinda important #with some fans ending up doubting that theyre identical twins lol #but i feel like the scene we got of ford letting him cheat is kinda important to show too #he ain't uptight about rules!!! he didn't mind helping his brother!!!#also its fun that stan likes doing shadow puppets too when he said that ford is super good at them #messy hair stan my beloved

hey there!! i'd been checking this blog for a while, and I really wanted to say you're a great source of inspiration haha! I really love your dog characters and your lore! The amount of research and dedication is really amazing!! about ludovica's gf, do you mind if I come in with my vision as well? I think she'd be a really fluffy dog, maybe with curly hair. so my mind went to the portuguese water dog; but then i thought of two versions: long hair and short hair. so i drew both (tried my best to make her look like a lady and not a grandpa haha)

#I'm so sorry this ask is almost a year old at this point and I'm only now responding to it auh #but I keep thinking about this version of the mystery girlfriend habitually I think this is the first headcanon design anyone came up with #I absolutely adore that she's a fluffy curly dog it's such a bold and distinct choice #I don't have any ocs with this specific fur type so it would be a new and interesting challenge trying to get used to drawing her #and I totally get the struggle about the unintentional grandpa look heh it's the same thing with wirehaired dogs #the portuguese water dog is a fitting breed to pick considering the setting imo #I previously tried to make a lagotto romagnolo version of her but the curly face fur was really muddling her expressions #the white eyebrows are a clever move they're pretty and make her face so much more readable than a solid black would #the white streaks on her ears are a wonderful detail too they kind of remind me of frankenstein's bride haha #and I appreciate the fact you drew her in a period accurate dress! the rosy pink goes really nicely with her stark black and white fur #the sketches are so sweet their chemistry comes through so clearly #thank you so much for putting this much thought and effort into her! again I'm sorry I kept you waiting #I truly hope you didn't think I disliked your concept although I wouldn't blame you at all if that's the impression you got #I think I have another ask of yours somewhere in my inbox I'll try to find it #gift art #pouletpourrisoldblog #Ludovica #own characters #I'll come back to give the gf her own tag once I've decided on the name

this may come off as nitpicky but please. even magic does not look like dragon age magic in veilguard. it's too sci-fi. where are all the dark mysterious ruins with runes and veilfire that make you wonder about what they once were. why am i suddenly removing force fields with lazers. (it came to me suddenly that you also can't tell at all by looking at the ruins in arlathan what these buildings used to be for. because surely it wasn't just to randomly store a chest or a sole bridge-summoning crystal). bellara is also a mechanic and not even a little bit mage now (see all the "tinkering"). and why does minrathous have a speaker system. surely there are ways to depict an oppressive magical state that do not require putting modern technology into your fantasy world. although i see how it may become a problem when you forget what even phylacteries are (you have to destroy lucanis's "blood" instead while breaking him out). and it does look flashy that all the companions have at least some kind of magical abilities and that magic is used creatively, however i'm sorry but thedas is also not that magical. in previous games even when warriors or rogues got special abilities, they were tied to them being unique to the character (eg fenris) and you still could have regular people in your party, most rogues/warriors that you would see fight have been regular people, and this makes the impression of the presence and use of magic in thedas drastically different from the previous games.

somehow the exaggerated design instead of realism has been less jarring for me than this storytelling emptiness of the design in the end. but buildings float now i guess

#objectively the environmental design is very impressive in many areas #like the beksinski inspired necropolis #or the elves turned into trees in arlathan that are reminiscent of annihilation the movie #but my problem is that in many aspects these beautiful images do not tell me a story about thedas they just remind me of some other art #and are made skillfully #datv #dragon age veilguard #datv critical #veilguard critical
