It's time for Beginnings, the podcast where writer and performer Andy Beckerman talks to the comedians, writers, filmmakers and musicians he admires about their earliest creative experiences and the numerous ways in which a creative life can unfold.

On today's episode, I talk to rapper and musician Brian Ennals and Tariq Ravelomanana AKA Infinity Knives. Originally from Annapolis, Maryland and Tanzania respectively, Brian and Tariq made music separately for years, and after reading about Brian in the Baltimore Sun, Tariq reached out to him and eventually asked Brian to feature on his album Dear, Sudan. This led to their debut Rhino XXL in 2020. While the album was a local hit, it did not prepare them for the reception their second album King Cobra would receive. Released on Phantom Limb in the middle of 2022, it became a word of mouth sensation, organically making everybody's end-of-year lists, deservedly so, as it's fantastic!

I have washi tape now!!!!

I am both incredibly nervous and incredibly excited to announce the launch of my first washi tapes!! This is something that I've been working on for months now, and my tapes came in yesterday, so I can finally announce this new thing I'm doing!

The rolls are 15mm in width, and 10m in length, with repeating designs so you're getting so much good stuff to decorate your things with! Each roll is individually packaged, and there are five rolls to choose from - Vash and Knives inspired plant makings, soot sprites, and designs from Langa and Reki's skateboards! You can get these on my koffee page, via DM's, and at in person events!

Ok, so feelings.

For various reasons, I can't travel. So a lot of fandom joys are inaccessible to me. For the most part, I don't mind.

But I do like to be informed. I'm trying to not get bitter over the fact that I'm excluded and participate in ways I can.

So last weekend I was not in a good place emotionally, so I might have overreacted a bit.

In the end, despite some disappointments, nothing changed. I still love the show, the characters and my friends, I'll continue to support fanworks and their creators in any way I can.

And hope for season 3, one that would beautifully fit with the previous ones.
