I got curious about the difference between the English dub and original Japanese voice acting...
#gregory horror show#judgement boy#ghs#I need to watch through more of the Japanese version but most of the characters I've heard appear to match pretty well?#Gregory's voice is quite a bit deeper in the Japanese version but it is a fitting voice! Very jarring to hear but I feel most fans#have already heard it during Gallery Tour!#JB appears in Gallery Tour briefly but not long enough for me to appreciate the difference.#Inko is so high pitched...#I really wonder what differences there are in dialogue between original and dub... but there doesn't seem to be a subtitled version#(which makes sense!)#It would be interesting to see if there is anything that could've been translated differently or if the dub is mostly accurate.#I will likely see nothing of the sort though. As many joys as there are in weird obscure things from 1999... there are sadnesses as well.

Soulmate ask
Child bound izuku with Nedzu (!yes the rat)
He doesn't like how izuku is being treated and goes yonk my child now.
When he realizes that Inko is a bad mom.
Nezu has been keeping an eye on his soulmate. When the mark appeared on his arm, he decided to go searching for information. He found Midoriya Izuku easily, deciding to keep a distant eye on the boy. Nezu worried about how a non-human soul parent would affect Izuku.
Yet as he watched Izuku age up, Nezu became worried for his soul son. Watching Inko slowly begin controlling Izuku's life. Trying to force him into a path the boy did not want. Inko's obsession with what she viewed as a perfect family controlled her life, and losing her husband, the fact that her son was Quirkless, caused her to be unstable.
Nezu stepped in as soon as Inko began treating her son as a girl, screaming at him when he didn't react how she wanted and refused to use she/her pronouns.
Nezu still worried about being the parent to a human. However, he would at least be better than that.
The high-pitched cackle, years later, as Izuku used his father's wrecking ball after hacking it to mow down robots, proved Nezu had done it right. He was so happy to see his son doing well.
"I quit," Aizawa said. "I am not teaching Izuku."
"Are you going to actually put in your two weeks?" Nezu inquired. Aizawa didn't answer. Nezu went back to his happy cackle.
Oh he loved his son.

AU where Izuku’s mother is Anan Kurose aka Thirteen
I'll have to age-up Thirteen here because otherwise she would've actually been thirteen when Midoriya was born.
This is a situation similar to the Legacies AU where Inko's Quirk isn't any stronger, but she practiced and trained with it to develop some incredible skill with her Quirk. She and Kurose had a fun slow burn romance over their three shared years at UA.
It is precisely because of her high skill, weak Quirk that Nedzu approaches Inko about a teaching position. Thirteen also gets Nedzu's attention for their own work.
Izuku's Quirk is a mix of both of them. He can draw shadows towards himself and manipulate them, or use those shadows like Black Hole, though it's much more effective to use his own arms, which, as a secondary mutation, are pitch black up to the shoulders, like Kuroiro on a lesser scale. Izuku can also hop between nearby shadows.
Izuku either went to a private school (more like Somei than Mustafa Private) or was tutored by Nedzu. It's probably a mix of both if I'm being honest.
Izuku can't be recommended to UA because his parents work there, so he has to take the regular entrance exam, which isn't a problem for him. He's delighted to be in his mom's class.

MHA crossover au where, after a villain attack leads to their apartment being destroyed about a year (or more) prior to Izuku's first year at UA, he and Inko take up board at the 'summer' home of a certain Addams Family.
Series: Boku no Hero Academia AU Criteria: A year before UA, Izuku and his mother move in to the summer home of the Addams Family. AU title (optional): Life's a Snap-Snap
After being attacked by the slime villain, getting his dreams destroyed by All Might, trying to save Katsuki, and getting scolded by the heroes, Izuku just wants to go home and go to bed. When All Might appears in front of him. Just before a loud explosion fills the air.
Seems there was a villain that decided picking a fight with Endeavor was a smart idea. Sadly his body went through several structural walls of the Midoriya's apartment building. Seeing an opportunity, All Might offers to help them move into a temporary place that his friends have in Japan, and he offers to train the boy there.
All Might is mildly disturbed by the sheer amount of his merch in the room. So… so much merch…
The house high on a mountain that is perpetually surrounded by ominous clouds is a pitch black mansion straight out of a horror story. Inko finds it charming, Izuku is very curious about it, and the training to come.
A week later, he is getting used to trying to survive every day in a place that is creepy and kooky, all together ooky. Mysterious and spooky. The dragon under the stairs is a joy to have tea time with, and the tentacle monster in the bathroom is very helpful in getting cleaning supplies.
He finds some nice suits and ties in his size one day and his mother loves the new style. The chalk-stripe suit is actually surprisingly easy to move in.
Somewhere along the way the Addams shows up and just kinda accept them as members of the family without missing a beat.

U know how children enjoy being thrown up/away in the air?
I have this vision of Shouta, just recently out of Hero School and not yet developed his Spidey Senses properly, being startled by something coming up to him from behind, and his ingrained reaction is to just like, flex his capture scarf and yeet the thing away.
Only the thing is a child.
And the child is Izuku.
And young Izuku is all in all the time and he wants to be thrown some more because it was So Cool, and so now Shouta has a smol fan that won't leave him alone.
He tries to make the parent aware of the situation and perhaps rein the stubborn child in, only Inko thinks this is the cutest thing ever and so now Shouta also gets forcibly adopted and made regular baby sitter.
When canon comes knocking, Class 1A will not know how to react/handle the way that their teacher regularly yeets their classmate
Oh god this is perfect. Especially since this has been going on for years now so by the time Izuku ends up in 1-A it's an ingrained habit between the two of them.
So that obviously changes things a bit.
First day rolls around and Shouta obviously knows that since his Problem Child is gonna be in his class his usual lurk and scare tactic isn't gonna work out the way it normally does.
1-A starts wandering in and none of them really pay too much attention as to why every single window in the classroom is open (except Iida of course). So they're all settled into their seats, vibrating with excitement, when Shouta just slams 1-A's classroom door open, stomps inside, and fucking plants himself in the middle of the floor.
Izuku's moving in the next second, high pitched shriek of manic joy escaping him because he hasn't seen Shouta in weeks now and he's missed him.
Izuku just fucking launches himself at Shouta who automatically grabs him with his scarf and just fucking yeets him out the open windows, Izuku screaming (in joy) the entire way.
Shouta's just standing at the front of the class now, sipping on a jelly pack and all "put your gym uniforms on and meet me in the pit on the field" and then turns and throws himself out the window too.
The rest of the class is sitting there gray faced like "did, did sensei just kill the green kid??"

The café restaurant near the highway was popular for its abundant use of vintage-feeling wood, which gave the restaurant a nostalgic and warm atmosphere.
The Kazemai and Kirisaki kyudo clubs jointly held a work experience event. Since many people quit kyudo after high school, the aim was to deepen friendships in places other than kyudo and to seek a way of living where everyone could continue to do kyudo even after graduation.
Tommy-sensei stroked his chin.
“In the restaurant industry, not only individual skills are required, but also coordination between each area, such as procurement, cooking, customer service, and accounting. The restaurant has kindly allowed us to fully book the location to perform a simulation.”
Everyone rushed to their roles. They put on waiter’s aprons. Hanazawa, Shiragiku, Seo, and Masa-san acted as the customers.
“Welcome.”
Minato went to take their order. Upon getting there, the long apron tied around his waist fell to the floor.
Masa-san spat out his coffee.
“W-W-What happened?”
“Sorry. I was in such a hurry that I didn’t tie the ribbon tightly enough.”
As Minato was putting on his apron again, Shiragiku frowned.
“Doesn’t it smell like something is burning?”
In the kitchen, Kaito had immediately burned the hamburgers.
Nanao dealt with it with a smile.
“My deepest apologies, but please wait a little longer. That Kacchan, he’s totally hopeless.”
Nanao started preparing dessert. Next to him, Seiya was trying to pick ingredients from the shelf at his feet. It happened when Nanao was about to peel off the plastic wrap.
“Ah!”
“…This is the first time in my life that I’ve had pudding on my head.”
“Sorry, Seiya!”
“It’s fine. I was just thinking of trying a new hair treatment anyway.”
Nanao could practically see a menacing demon behind Seiya.
“I’m really sorry! Don’t get angry!”
“Don’t they say that life has valleys and valleys?”
“Isn’t that just valleys—and anyways, don’t make me do such a cliched comedy skit!”
After the meal was finished and the bill was paid, Ryouhei said, “Thank you very much. The three girls playing the role of customers said, “It was a delicious meal,” and clutched their stomachs.
Meanwhile, there were those who watched the members of the Kazemai High School Kyudo Club, who seemed like they were performing a corny gag.
“What are those guys doing?”
“That’s why you can’t expect anything from amateurs.”
The twins were totally calm and collected.
Senichi and Manji’s father was the founder of a restaurant chain. Under the corporate philosophy of “Sincerity” and “Do things right away,” he focused on offering a comfortable space and a healthy menu, as well as reducing food waste and excessive packaging. Saying that those who didn’t know the field were useless, the twins, who had experience in the kitchen and the dining area, were in charge.
Shuu was drinking black tea with a cool expression on his face.
“It smells good. Is this first flush?” (1)
“It’s nice, isn’t it? We secretly prepared it for you, Shuu.”
The actual owner of the restaurant’s voice echoed.
“Who made this chocolate parfait? It’s mixture with mango jam added in. We don’t have something like this on our menu.”
“Crap.”
Senichi and Manji were scolded by the owner.
After the completing the work experience, the members of Kazemai and Kirisaki sat around the same table.
Ryouhei was talking animatedly in front of Shuu.
“Whoo, it was so fun. I’ve started to keep a hand-tamed Java sparrow. I don’t know what to name it, though.”
“Ryouhei, don’t ask Seiya about that no matter what,” Kaito said, and Seiya answered immediately.
“Bunta, Bunko, Bunzaemon.”
“Okay, okay, I’m sorry, so stop it.”
Minato asked Nanao, “How was Lucy’s name chosen?”
“It was decided at a dinner party at the Onogi house. My mom did a homestay in Australia, and her host family’s cat was named Lucy. According to her, the cat loved people and climbed into everyone’s lap.”
“Is that so,” Upon hearing that, Hanazawa, Shiragiku, and Seo murmured.
Shuu put down the cup in his hand.
“When Captain Cook found a peculiar animal on his first visit to Australia, he asked the natives what the animal’s name was, and they replied in their language, ‘We don’t understand what you’re saying,’ which sounded like ‘kangaroo.’ Nowadays, it’s widely believed that it’s a fictional story.”
This was the first time Senichi and Manji were hearing of this.
“You mean that’s a lie?”
“Kangaroo was the original name. Who first told this story, was it a joke, or was there ridicule in it? Or was this story a hoax?”
Masa-san took over the conversation.
“This isn’t a made-up story, but I have a similar anecdote. In the old days, babies were given ugly names on purpose to protect them from illness and accidents. When they grew up, they changed their names, but when the family registration system was introduced in the Meiji era, there were many unfortunate Ainu people whose childhood names were recorded as is.”
“Names are important things,” Minato said.
“Because a name is the greatest gift from the gods. In ancient times, telling someone your real name meant giving your life to them. They are called imina.” (2)
“——As in ‘name of life’, maybe?” (3)
After endless uninterrupted conversation, Tommy-sensei called it a day.
It was decided that once Ryouhei had decided on a name for his sparrow, he was to let everyone know.
After the Kazemai and Kirisaki joint work experience event ended, the club members were busy practicing at the Kazemai kyudojo. Although the event was only for the second-years, the new members had grown more comfortable with the place, and here and there one could see easygoing conversations between seniors and juniors. These days, all the first-years referred to Coach Takigawa as Masa-san.
Kanbayashi said, “Narumiya-senpai, I don’t get this part.”
“Oh, about that…”
“Narumiya-senpai, I’m going to buy replacement strings later. Can you help me choose some?”
“Yeah, sure. I was just thinking about going to the store too.”
Yes.
He secretly made a fist.
Kazemai first-year, Kanbayashi Hikaru, was Narumiya Minato’s fan. Of course, no one knew about this. If President Takehaya were to find out, he wouldn’t be able to take a single step closer to Minato, so he was being extremely careful.
Kanbayashi blinked a lot. Not only during tournaments, but also during practice, his nervousness increased even if there were just people in the stands. In kyudo, the moment when the bow was drawn and the archer remained still was the highlight, so if you blinked a lot, it would be very noticeable. He couldn’t fix it no matter how many times he was warned about it. However, there was an advantage. Even when he stared at Minato, he wasn’t found out because he blinked so much on a daily basis.
Kanbayashi complained in his mind.
I never thought I’d become a regular. Huh? Is that decision really the right call? Does everyone really understand? I’m Kanbayashi with the blinking eyes, you know? Someone who visibly shows how freaked out he is, something an archer shouldn’t be?
That day, he immediately went to Tommy-sensei to give up his position.
“This position is too much for me. Today was a fluke. It’s proven that I can’t do tournaments.”
“Ho ho, let things happen the way they happen.”
He was flatly refused.
Even if this school got second place at last year’s Inter-High, aren’t they being too generous, or rather, bold, or maybe just careless? This definitely isn’t normal. Everyone here’s crazy.
He started kyudo in middle school because he thought that since kyudo was an individual sport, even if he wasn’t good at it, he wouldn’t get in the way of others and could learn slowly at his own pace. He hadn’t expected group tournaments, and he keenly realized how poorly he had done his homework and how unimaginative he was.
Minato really loved kyudo. He had experienced target panic in the past and was still working on preventing a recurrence. He was extremely straightforward, hardworking, and somewhat of an airhead. Kanbayashi had never met such a pure person, or rather, someone who didn’t seem like he was of this world. He worried if Minato could survive in this troubled world with such defenselessness, but it seemed that he would be fine as long as the president was by his side.
Kanbayashi sometimes fell into a strange state when he looked at Minato.
I’m a wicked person. I’m sorry. I’ll reflect on myself. Before he knew it, he found himself repenting. And then, for no apparent reason, he’d end up smiling. He didn’t know if this was the right way to describe it, but it was similar to the feeling he got when a baby was staring at him.
There was reality in Minato’s words. His daily actions proved that there were no lies or falsehoods in them. Above all, Kanbayashi could tell that he really cared about other people without asking for anything in return at all. And even if the problem wasn’t solved at all, you’d feel, Well, it’s okay. I feel like this person understands me, and that I’ve been pardoned.
But if someone with such clear eyes sympathized with you, the sullied ones might bite back, unable to accept the facts.
There was a period when Minato and Masa-san didn’t talk to each other at all. He wondered what happened between them, but before he knew it, they were back to normal.
“Masa-san, I found the not-for-sale book you told me about before, but it was too expensive.”
“I’m pretty sure it’s buried somewhere in my apartment. Do you want to come over to find it?”
“To your apartment? …No, it sounds like a pain.”
“Don’t think you can get fish without working for it.”
“I like meat better than fish.”
“Isn’t being vegetarian the trend these days?”
“The Narumiya family has always been meat eaters. In the first place, Masa-san, you’re a generation behind.”
As the conversation between Minato and Masa-san continued, with topics flowing endlessly from one to another, Kanbayashi couldn’t help but think, Ah, I’m so lucky to be able to spend time with these people. Perhaps Kanbayashi was broken as well.
On the way home after practice, first-year Keyaki, second-year Kaito and Seiya, and Masa-san often engaged in a kind of debate. Keyaki and Kaito had completely different appearances, but they shared the same views on many things, so they often worked together as a tag team.
Keyaki was serious and earnest. He was diligent, hated unreasonableness, and was most likely not wrong in what he said. However, the strong sense of purpose in his eyes and overbearingness were intense.
Damn it, telling women and children to shut up? I won’t accept defeat, and I won’t tolerate being underestimated!
His intensity was so overpowering that it exhausted them as well. If you approached someone belligerently, the other person would also be on guard. Even when he tells him to relax more, he knew that it wasn’t easy to do so. Kanbayashi also couldn’t stop blinking even when he’s told to stop.
Masa-san said that Keyaki’s enemy was society. The society was a large discarnate entity that operated according to a fiction that was created by someone. It was like a religious organization with strict commandments, and any violation of these prohibitions would result in strict judgment. Peaceful conversations were necessary for compromise. It seemed that compromise, or as they said in native Japanese terms, “coming to terms,” (4) was more important than making distinctions about whether or not something was black or white.
Kazemai’s strength was trust. Everyone caring for each other. He thought that such things were platitudes and didn’t exist in reality, but he couldn’t hide his surprise when he was confronted with them before his eyes.
Kanbayashi was addicted to crane games. This was the only area he was confident in. He didn’t really want it, but he happened to find a stuffed “Yomigaeru” toy with a halo on its back in an easy-to-get spot, so he got it.
As thanks for allowing him to touch “Minahead,” he decided to give it to Nanao.
Around that time, Ryouhei was alone in front of the bus stop.
Elementary school students were passing by while singing the Frog Song. The Buji Kaeru (5) charms tied to the sides of their backpacks bounced to the rhythm of their walk. It made him happy that the elementary schoolers of today also sang nursery rhymes.
When the bus arrived, he sat at the window seat in the very back. Looking out the bus window, he saw many yellow hats neatly lined up and moving away from him. Were those children with matching bags sisters?
My sister works people hard.
She would say things like, “Ryouhei, go buy mom and dad a present for their wedding anniversary. I’ll shell out two-thirds of the money.”
She’s very energetic, and she eats well, sleeps well, and laughs often every day. Even now, she’s humming a poem that she learned in reading practice in elementary school.
This happened a long time ago.
I woke up in the middle of the night, hearing something that sounded like a scream. It must have been my imagination. Well, I fell sleep right away.
About a month later, Nee-chan suddenly started throwing out stuff from her room. Not just books and clothes, but also all of her precious drawings she kept.
Another month later, she said that she was going crazy. There was a haze in her head, she couldn’t retain anything she read or saw online, and when she shopped, she really didn’t know how much she was spending. If she went down an unfamiliar road, she couldn’t go back to where she was before and got lost. They say it’s as though she had dementia, but from my point of view, there wasn’t anything outwardly unusual about her.
She spent hours replying to a text from a friend and only sent two lines. She would feel nauseous and run to the toilet, but had nothing to vomit. At some point, she holed herself up in her room on the second floor and only came down to eat. She was startled by even the slightest sound and would find herself crouching on the floor. She said that she had trouble breathing and she couldn’t move her head and limbs because they were numb.
Dad took her out to various places, saying that she shouldn’t be cooped up at home, and Mom showed her therapy books, but they only made her feel worse and had no effect. Nee-chan hardly speaks at all, and the only words that come out now and then are “I’m sorry.” When we took her to the hospital, they told us that if she lost any more weight, she would catch pneumonia and die, so she was given an IV drip and prescribed many medicines.
Mom and Dad had a heated battle over whether to continue giving her the medicine or not. Neither side would give an inch, both saying that I’m right and you’re wrong.
Nee-san asked to be admitted to the hospital because she was going to be a burden, but our parents refused. Nee-chan couldn’t touch her phone, computer, or the home phone, and she was even too afraid to write, so she couldn’t do it herself. Mom wondered if this was all an act.
She had no desire to do anything. She couldn’t take baths and complained that even brushing her teeth is hard work. She couldn’t get up from bed at all. The only time she went out was to go to the hospital. Dad lamented that his daughter was so weak-minded, and Mom cried and wondered why she couldn’t get better. I rubbed my sister’s back when she curled up, unable to breathe. Everything was so painful that I cried.
Nee-chan was found to have an internal disease and had to undergo surgery. I don’t know the name of the disease. Tired of taking care of her, Dad would sigh loudly, and Mom began to mumble to herself. Our meals were almost always convenience store bentos. The plants in our house were dying, and the vacuum cleaner and dryer wouldn’t turn on.
Our family was at its breaking point. I was making plans to live on my own.
After being discharged from the hospital, Nee-chan was taken to Grandma’s house. I was relieved.
Nee-chan returned a month later, but as expected, she didn’t return to how she was before. She barely spoke, moved, slept, and spent most of her days wrapped up in her futon.
After an extraordinary amount of time passed, I returned to Dad’s hometown to go to high school. I reunited with Minato and Seiya there. Nee-chan would get in a good mood when I talked about them.
After that, I would visit Nee-chan’s bedroom when she was sleeping and end up just talking about club activities. Nee-chan just listened to me with a smile, but I felt kind of relieved. When I was going to be away from home for a few days, she told me to call her, so I did.
Five years had passed since that voiceless scream.
Before I knew it, Nee-san was cured.
The days where she would be eating at the dining table like before after waking up continued, and she was able to go outside. Apparently it’s called remission, not complete recovery, but we don’t know the exact reason why. Grandma calls it the “medicine of time.”
What was said and done to her at her new school? I couldn’t ask or find out. I was too scared and didn’t want to know.
I heard something from Masa-san. “Kegare” in Japanese is transformed from the word “gekare” from the words asage and yuuge, (6) and it seemed that it originally referred to the state of not being able to eat. They moved those who were too weak to eat to a remote house and kept them away so that they themselves would not be dragged to the realm of the dead.
Masa-san is a knowledgeable adult and always smiling. Minato and Kaito looks up to him as their master, and are devoted to kyudo. Seiya and Nanao support the two of them, and I’m rooting for everyone.
Shuu-kun is cute, and Senichi and Manji are playful. Tommy-sensei is Kazemai’s captain, Hanazawa-san, Shiragiku-san, and Seo-san are charming and pretty. Keyaki-kun has a strong gaze and always talks about complicated things. Kanbayashi-kun is always standing next to him and smiling, and Himuro-kun is, um, er, sorry, I don’t really have a strong impression of him.
There are several small flowerpots lined up in our yard. Nee-chan planted acorns she picked up in the mountains in them, and now there are adorable leaves opening. Today, I planted some seeds brought by birds.
Nee-chan has resumed her studies. She wants to go to university after graduating from high school and study Japanese literature, biology, and physics. I think she’s being too greedy.
I started keeping a hand-tamed Java sparrow. I named it “Inko” after Seiya recommended it to me. (7)
People, birds, animals, mountains, sea, sky, and the sun. I love them all. I hate bugs, but I’m fine as long as I don’t touch them.
I’m invincible because I got everything I love.

When they got off from the minivan, they heard the sound of dogs barking.
The seven members of the Kazemai kyudo club boys’ team and their coach had arrived at “Wan-Nyan Land.”
As the name suggested, it was a theme park where you could play with dogs and cats. It was divided into small dog, large dog, and cat areas, and there was an open space for enjoying shows.
“I’m really excited. But is it okay for just us eight to come here?” Minato asked Seiya.
“This is our mission from Tommy-sensei to ‘secrete the comfort hormone oxytocin,’ and it’s an eight-passenger car. Don’t worry, I explained it to Keyaki.”
When the eight reached the entrance, Masa-san widened his eyes. Familiar faces were lining up in front of the entrance.
“Masa-san!”
“Keyaki!?”
“When I heard that the boys’ team was coming here, I invited everyone here as well. Please let us join you as well.”
Including the three second-year girls and the first-years, there was a total of sixteen people. While Masa-san was busy with the group visit procedures, Seiya briskly gave instructions.
“Okay, everyone, let’s pause. Now then, Masa-san, please accompany the first-years. You have the responsibility as the adult in charge, right? Don’t worry, the second-years will be looked after by me, the president.”
“Seiya, you…”
Masa-san took Keyaki, who had a big smile on his face, another first-year boy, a blinking Kanbayashi, an expressionless Himuro, and the three first-year girls with him and headed for the Wan-Nyan Show.
“Wan-Nyan? More like Squeak-Squawk,” Kaito said. (8)
“Kacchan, you act like an old man. Baby birds are cute,” Nanao said.
“I wonder if Masa-san will be alright. He was walking with Keyaki hanging from his neck,” Minato said.
“He’ll be fine, he’s an adult,” Seiya said.
“Everyone, let’s go!” At Ryouhei’s call, the eight second-years moved out.
Minato and Ryouhei ran to the corner at the very front. Puppies were running around energetically in a circular area with a roof. The two of them charged at the frolicking mass and started petting all of them. Even Nanao couldn’t speak as the puppies approached them curiously.
Hanazawa, Shiragiku, and Seo opened the double doors to the neighbouring circle. This was where the trained dogs were, and people could hold them in their arms. Someone who seemed to be a regular visitor picked up a running dog from behind and sat down in the corner of the fence. The three girls also managed to sit down with dogs in their arms.
Seo’s cheeks flushed red.
“You really can’t beat the real thing.”
Her hobby was watching animal videos. Shiragiku’s heart fluttered at the sight of Seo petting the dog with an unaccustomed hand, and the lens of Hanazawa’s phone was locked onto her.
Meanwhile, Seiya and Kaito were heading to the dog park for large dogs.
The large grounds were bathed in sunlight and the grass underfoot was tinged with heat. One dog approached them and sniffed at Seiya’s blue-striped shoes and Kaito’s red shoes. Perhaps not interested in either of them, it moved away before they could hold out their hands.
Seiya approached a dog lying down and stroked its chin. The dog got up and entrusted its whole body to him. Kaito watched the two of them out of the corner of his eye as though he was the one who wanted to be spoiled.
“It’s clingy. Isn’t it heavy?”
“I’m used to big dogs. But I have to take a shower before I go home. If its scent is left on me, Kuma will know that I’ve been playing with another dog.”
“Where are you going to take a shower?”
“Minato’s house. I’m going to enter from the back door so Kuma doesn’t see me.”
“They’ll think you’re a thief.”
“There’s no problem, I do this all the time.”
Somebody whistled.
The dog slunk up and went under the small hut.
The name of the song was “Greensleeves.”
Alas, my love, you do me wrong.
Greensleeves was all my joy.
Greensleeves was my delight.
For I have loved you well and long
Delighting in your company. (9)
Nostalgia brought to mind scenes that they may or may not want to remember. The two went into the shade of a tree to avoid the sun.
A heat haze shimmered on the grass.
“I recently learned that the Bernese Mountain Dog is one of the most short-lived dogs. According to a Swiss proverb, ‘Three years a young dog, three years a good dog, and three years an old dog...all else is a gift from God.’ The Ainu call bears kamuy—gods. I named my short-lived dog God and placed him by my side. Ignorance is a scary thing.”
“There’s not really a problem there, is it? It’s just an elementary school kid giving his dog a name that sounds strong. The Ainu people saw the bear as a god. Isn’t that all there is to it? Unlike in the past, medical care is now more advanced. You’re seeing too many connections that aren’t there, Seiya.”
“Fu, you have a point. –Hey, Kaito.”
“Hm?”
“Ah…it’s almost lunch time. Let’s go back to the meeting place.”
The red shoes followed the blue shoes in the sunlight filtering through the leaves.
People who had many secrets to hide, who made it unsure whether or not you should catch up with them.
Was it selfish of me to want to know what you’re carrying, or to ask you to entrust some of your burdens with me?
Before they knew it, a cool breeze blew by them as they walked side by side.
After lunch, the eight who came by the minivan plus Keyaki moved out. Minato and the others headed for the cat corner, where they first changed into rental kimonos. The moment they set foot in there, they were transported to another world.
The name of this space was “EDO.”
In the reconstructed Edo streetscape, kimono-clad townspeople, samurai, and cats passed by. The concept was to interact with the cats that lived in this town, all of which were former rescued cats. It was run by a non-profit organization, and the idea was conceived by a local high school student.
The cats roamed freely in the town and slept next to old ladies on porches. There were no Sakura cats there. A fight immediately broke out over Kaito.
In a slightly secluded area, the neighborhood was filled with Edo specialties such as wind chimes, Edo faceted glass, and glass beads against a checkered background. People dressed in happi coats and zori sandals were saying things like, “Teyandee! Damn it! I’m a trueborn Edoite!” (10) and “Oh, my God! I need to hurry up. It’s starting.” They were fake Edoites in every way, but real Edoites didn’t care about such details. In response to the women performing the “Edo shigusa” of tilting their umbrellas as they passed by each other, they said, “Hey, that’s so stylish!” (11)
Kaito touched the obi wrapped around his waist.
“Masa-san, kimono really suits you. It feels like you’re used to wearing them.”
“You’re looking handsome too, Kaito.”
“R-Really? This place is pretty intricate. Hey, what’s that?”
“Oh, that’s called ‘Shihan-Mato archery.’” (12)
Kaito was pointing to a group of people sitting on their soles on old tatami mats laid out on the ground, aiming at targets with long arrows. The origin of the name Shihan-Mato came from the fact that the distance of the target area was 4.5 ken, the bow and arrow used were both 4.5 shaku, the diameter of the targets were 4.5 sun. Everything was four and a half, and its long arrows were what made it distinctive.
Himuro and Keyaki decided to take on the challenge. Himuro hit the target so often that it was his first time, and Keyaki had a look of desperation on his face. While Kanbayashi was waiting for his turn, two boys were standing behind him.
“He’s hitting a lot. Film this.”
One of the boys had pinkish-red hair, and the other had blond hair in a ponytail. The redhead put his hand in the cuff of his happi coat and folded his arms, while Blond Ponytail had a camera in his hands.
Nanao clapped his hands together.
“Oh, I know you guys. You’re the Yotubers Asahina and Eddie, right? I watched ‘Shooting targets in the dark.’ It was a shame.”
Redhead was the one who answered. “You watched it? Yeah, I couldn’t see the target at all, so I couldn’t align the arrow to the height. Eddie hit the curtain, you know. Hmm? What’s with all the familiar faces?”
Redhead and Blond Ponytail looked at Minato.
“Are you guys from Kazemai High School? You’re Narumiya, right? I saw the live broadcast of last year’s Inter-High finals.”
“Yes, that’s me. Thank you for watching.”
“It was a great tournament, really nice to watch. I’m Asahina You, and this is Eddie Fox. We’re second-years from Haneina High School. Nice to meet you! So you’re the fated rival of that famous Young Prince?”
Seiya took a step forward towards Asahina, who was a true extrovert with a brilliant smile.
“Is this live?”
“No, we’re going to edit it later.”
“We came here as part of our club activities. You need our school’s permission to upload this on the internet.”
“Got it. Stop filming.”
Eddie put down the camera at Asahina’s instruction.
“We came here to film because we can see genuine Yumihiki Douji here. Although, those dolls apparently weren’t made in the Edo period, but Heisei era facsimiles.”
Eddie made a strange pose that was reminiscent of a flamboyant gesture in kabuki.
“I am one who is quite learned on all things Japanese. Karate Karaoke Kyudo. Miso Senpai Karoushi. Kawaii Mottainai Hentai.”
Kaito scratched his head.
“Is that good or bad?”
Seiya wore a complacent smile.
“If you like Japanese things, there’s a real Shinto priest here.”
“Oh, my, God. May I visit next day? Which temple do you preside over?”
Eddie seemed to have mixed up temples and shrines, but even Japanese people didn’t distinguish between the two. When visiting a shrine, one would often hear people ask, “Is it okay to clap my hands here?” (13)
Masa-san answered politely, as one would expect from one of his profession.
“Please come visit. I’m often asked this by foreigners. ‘Kami-sama’ is the one enshrined at ‘Yata Jinja.’ God is the name of the god in monotheistic religions such as Christianity and Judaism, and if you translate that as ‘Here is God,’ you’d receive questioning looks like, ‘What is this guy talking about?’ The term Shinto deity isn’t a name, but a description.”
Hearing that, Minato said, “It’s like mistaking Satou-san for Smith-san? I read somewhere that when you say ‘shrine’ in English, it refers to a quiet place for pilgrims and people like them and has nothing to do with Shinto at all, while ‘temple’ refers to a noisy place where people gather to pray.”
“The way of calling and writing proper nouns is surprisingly difficult. Himiko is probably ‘the miko of the Sun’ or ‘child of the Sun.’ (13) In a place where people worshipped eight million gods, Buddha arrived, and the Shinto and Buddhist traditions were combined. In order to counter monotheism during the world war, State Shinto was created and the kami and Buddha were once again separated. State Shinto and ancient Shinto are two completely different things, and Shinto is a prehistoric nature religion.”
“Ooh, I found a heart cat!”
Everyone turned around at Ryouhei’s voice.
“Fare thee well!” Asahina and Eddie ran away, chasing after the calico cat with a heart mark.
Kanbayashi lowered his brows. “Those people sure are lively, Narumiya-senpai.”
“They are. Sorry, we kinda got sidetracked.”
“That’s not true. The teacher-student dialogue was fun!”
Afterwards, Minato and the others enjoyed themselves with the Shihan-Mato Archery, sent a group photo to Tommy-sensei, and headed home.

au where izuku had ofa forced on him
Izuku didn't even mean to watch the fight for once, he got too close and once the dust settled slightly, he sees a poor blond scarecrow in a puddle of blood and tries to help him. Said man just says "Shit, it can't die with me!" and basically slaps his bloody hand on the cut on Izuku's head. As Izuku can feel something happening, he slaps him back by reflex and potentially kills him.
He however doesn't have the time to worry about that because All for One finally finds where he threw All Might and upon seeing a youth that obviously is the Ninth holder of OFA, he thinks "HELL NO! NOT DOING THAT AGAIN!" and promptly forget All Might to try to kill the new pain in his... side. Izuku somehow survives by confusing AFO with all the high pitched screaming and the fact that he is really good at running like hell.
So yeah, not a great day for him. But he does get back home, almost giving a heart attack to Inko because he is covered in blood, dust, and with a broken arm (because of course, he used the quirk on his way home.)
By the time they get back from the hospital and because he heard a conversation between a bunch of heroes, he is under the mistaken impression that the guy who slaps the quirk into him was a villain. More specifically, an awful villain who can steal and give quirks.
Izuku @ his quirk(s): "I am gonna be a hero so you better cooperate with me!"
He starts as a vigilante to get some training.
All Might isn't dead but he is in a coma for several months and probably missing a limb.

My Hero Superman AU; The Adventures of Izuku “Jon-El” Midoriya, Superboy/Superman; Son of Kal-El!
Training Exercise Not long after the Battle against All for One;
Izuku(holding up a building, annoyed): Is this REALLY necessary?!
Aizawa(frustrated): Well EXCUSE ME~, I never had an alien for a student before!
Ochaco(speaking up, defending her boyfriend): He’s only half-alien!
Aizawa(annoyed): He’s still only half human.
Ochaco: …
Aizawa(worried): Right?
Izuku(still holding the building): I’m also half Greek Demigod!
Aizawa(bangs head against a wall): OF COURSE YOU ARE!!!
Kirishima(concerned): I think you two broke him.
Aizawa(removes bleeding forehead from the wall): We’re doing this to try and test your limits.
Aizawa(pressing button on remote): Releasing drones.
Izuku(shooting drones with his heat vision, while starting to feel weak): Huh?!
Izuku(heat vision abruptly stops and he starts falling): WHAT THE HELL?!?!
Ochaco(concerned): IZU-KUN!!!
A red and gold blur rushes right towards Izuku as the building he was holding crashes on top of him.
Aizawa(panicking, while he and everyone else runs towards the ruins): WHAT THE HELL JUST HAPPENED?!?!?!
The rumble starts shifting and Izuku walks out with support from his Mother in her Amazonian form as Wonder Woman. The class notes worryingly that he has a cut on his left cheek and that his hair has turned green. When he turns to face them, they see that his eyes have also turned green as well.
Ochaco(rushes right for him): IZU-KUN!!!
Ochaco(hugs him tightly): WHAT HAPPENED?!?!
Izuku(freaking out): I CAN FEEL MY RIBS BREAKING!!! WHY CAN I FEEL MY RIBS BREAKING?!?!
Aizawa(running up): Why did you stop holding up the building?!
Wonder Woman(turning to face him angrily): THIS IS YOUR FAULT!!! He was still recovering from his exposure to Kryptonite, and all this testing made him use up what was left of his Solar reserves!
Aizawa(confused): What do you mean?
Wonder Woman(calming down): Most of his powers are dependent on Solar radiation. The radiation from Kryptonite can destroy any Solar energy he has stored. He used up what he had left firing his heat vision repeatedly.
Aizawa(frustrated): So he’s helpless without it?
Wonder Woman(grabs him by the neck and lifts him up): You’re lucky his telekinesis isn’t tied to solar radiation and that he was able to make a field to protect himself in time!
A resounding boom is heard as Hisashi arrives as Superman caring a box with his family crest and gently lands besides them.
Superman: Inko calm down, I have a way to fix this!
Wonder Woman scoffs and drops Aizawa who glares back at her with his quirk only to realize that it has no affect on her.
Bakugo(cockily smirking): So the nerd’s back to being usele-
Izuku(interrupts him by telekinetically throwing a rock at his “grenades” and watching him fall over with a high pitched groan): I can still use my Telekinesis, jerk!
Superman(walking up with the case): Which is why you’ll have to rely on it to make up for your weakened state with this.
Izuku(opens the case to find a black costume with glowing red lines that converged onto their family crest(New 52 Superboy costume)): What is this?
Superman: A Solar suit, it’ll help you recharge faster. I wore something similar after my fight against Doomsday.
Izuku: Thanks dad.
———————————————————————–
1-A’s Spar against Lemillion;
Izuku(wearing his Solar suit with his eyes closed in concentration as Lemillion takes out his entire class): …
Bakugo(furious): HEY NERD, AREN’T YOU GONNA DO SOME-
Momo(slapping him upside the head): Can’t you see he’s trying to concentrate?!
Momo(pulls a green ring and puts it on): We have to buy him time.
Momo is suddenly engulfed in a green light which fades to reveal her in a black and green uniform with white boots and gloves and a symbol of a lantern on her chest, and a copy of the lantern symbol over her eye. (Jessica Cruz’s uniform)
Lemillion(rushing at her): And what’s that supposed to do?
Momo(pointing her ring at him): This!
The ring makes a giant construct fan that blows him back.
Lemillion(getting back up): Well, that was something…
Izuku(eyes snap open): Got you!
Lemillion suddenly finds himself floating in the air uncontrollably.
Lemillion(confused): How are you doing that?!
Izuku(smirking): You didn’t know? I’m telekinetic.
———————————————————————–
After fully recharging his Solar reserves and transferring One for All to Eri and discovering that Denki and Mina are his clones siblings;
Superboy(walking into principal Nezu’s office): You wanted to see me sir?
Nezu(annoyed look on his face): Yes, can you me help deal with him!
Nezu points to a lanky, scrawny looking man in a suit and glasses standing to the side of his office.
Izuku(confused): Aren’t you Sir Nighteye?
Nighteye(glaring): I’ll cut right to the chase. Give One for All to Mirio.
Nezu(groaning and massaging his head): I already told you, he can’t!
Nighteye(arrogantly): Nonsense, he obviously doesn’t need-
Izuku(interrupting him): He’s right I can’t.
Nighteye(shocked): WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU CAN’T?!?!
Izuku(nonchalant): I already passed it on.
Nighteye(angrily): TO WHO?!?!
Izuku(unfazed): My daughter, Eri.
Nighteye: WHY?!?!
Izuku(frustrated): She asked me for it. She said that she could rewind any injuries she inflicts on herself.
Izuku(sighing): The next thing I know, she’s able to telekinetically copy my powers. My brother and I had to fly to the moon to get her when she had a sugar rush. Also, the copy of my grandmother’s spirit in One for All despises you with her entire being.
Nighteye(stunned with his jaw hanging open): …
Nezu(taking a picture, with a smile): Thank you Mr. Midoriya, you have made all of this worthwhile. You may leave now, and could you take Sir Nighteye to the front gate please?
(A few minutes later)
Nighteye(blinks and realizes he is outside UA’s front gates): WHAT THE F*#^?!?!?!
———————————————————————–
During the Time of UA’s Internships;
Mina(already transformed into her Amazonian state and with her armor, looking like a young Inko with hair like her brother’s): So…Does anyone have any idea why we were told to wait in front of the main building with our stuff?
Denki(transformed into Shazam, shrugging): Beats me sis. Not even 1-B knows why we’re here.
Aizawa(in his sleeping bag): What does the principal have planned for us this time?
Superman(floating down with a man in a black and green uniform with white gloves and a ring and symbol like Momo’s): Good, you’re all here.
Superboy+Shazam+Troy+Momo(confused): Dad?
Momo(noticing the siblings’ confused expressions): My dad’s with him.
Superman(gesturing to the man next to him): This is my friend, Haruto, the Green Lantern. He’ll be helping to transport everyone to and from our temporary base of operations.
Green Lantern(waves to Momo): Hi Sweetie!
Green Lantern(shocked): YOU KNOW SUPERMAN?!?!
Green Lantern(grinning): Yeah, we were on a team of sorts together, with him back we all decided to get back together.
Green Lantern(explaining): We’re using Superman’s personal base until we can get a proper team base up and running. Since I’m one of the two licensed pilots on our team, I’ll be transporting you all today.
Green Lantern(proceeds to make a construct plane with his ring): Now hop aboard everyone, and I hope you have extreme cold gear, because our next stop is the Arctic circle!
Everyone(including the teachers): WHAT?!?!
Superboy(realizing and then grinning with excitement): Wait, WE’RE GOING TO THE FORTRESS?!?!
Superman(nods head with a smile): That’s right.
Uravity(turns to Momo): Can you make a bunch of extra cold wear for Eri real quick?
Supergirl(pouting): I’ve been to space, I can handle the cold!
Class 1-B: WHAT THE HELL?!
Shinso(as Dr. Midnite after replacing Mineta when he chose to transfer to the Business course): Things can’t get any crazier.
———————————————————————–
Outside the Fortress of Solitude;
Dr. Midnite(stunned and wiping his goggles, looking at the giant crystalline structure): I was wrong, things can get crazier.
Supergirl(wearing a heavy coat with her cape sticking out the bottom, with stars in her eyes): So pretty!🤩
Kirishima(shivering from the cold, despite wearing a heavy coat made by Momo): H-h-how a-a-are w-w-w-we s-s-s-sup-p-p-pos-s-s-st t-t-t-to g-g-g-g-get ins-s-s-s-side!!!
Superman(smirking): I just need to get the key!
Shouto(heating himself up with his fire, looking around, not noticing Eri walking off): And where would you keep a key here?
Supergirl(lifting a giant key the size of bus over her head, shocking everyone except her family): You mean this Grandpa?
Jirou(stunned, while huddling next to Shouto for warmth with other students): You know, I keep forgetting that she can do that now…
Shazam(floating over and grabs the key from her): Let me take care of that.
Jirou: Also that HE can do it to…
Once Denki opens the door, everyone rushes in and immediately savor the warmth from inside the crystal Fortress.
Green Lantern(laughing): HAHAHA! Wait until they see the inside!
———————————————————————–
One day Later;
Izuku(sees Shouto walk out of a room with Endeavor holding a suitcase with a shocked look on his face): Was that Endeavor? I didn’t know he was gonna be here.
Shouto(snapping out of his daze, turns to Izuku): Yeah, apparently he was also part of that team with your parents and Mr. Yaoyozoru.
Shouto(looks at the case in his hands): Except he used a different name back then, a secret name he stopped using after my brother’s death.
Shouto(far off look on his face): I should’ve seen this coming, the clues were so obvious!
Izuku(concerned): Shouto?
Shouto(ignoring him): He has the money, the resources, the skills, the physical build, no wonder he makes a beard out of fire! He used it to hide his jawline!
Izuku(even more concerned): Shouto?!
Shouto(still ignoring him): No wonder he despised All Might, HE SAW HIM AS A CHEAP KNOCKOFF OF HIS BEST FRIEND!
Izuku(panicking): MOMO, HELP!!! SHOUTO’S GONE OFF THE DEEP END!!!
Shouto(grabs Izuku by the shoulders and starts shaking him): DON’T YOU SEE?!?! YOU’RE THE SON OF SUPERMAN, AND I’M THE SON OF BATMAN!!!
Izuku+Momo+the rest of the class that just walked over: Wait, WHAT?!?!
Shouto(slings arm over Izuku’s shoulder with a crazy grin on his face): Don’t you see! WE’RE THE NEXT GENERATION OF THE WORLD’S FINEST!!! YOU’LL BECOME SUPERMAN, AND I’LL BECOME BATMAN!!! WE’LL BE UNSTOP-
Momo(whacks her boyfriend upside the head mid rant): OK! That’s enough for now.
Momo(sternly): Now, what’s in the case?
Shouto(rubbing his head): Sorry ‘bout that, he said that its part of my “birthright”.
Shouto(opens the case and shows the whole class): …
Midoriya siblings+Ochaco+Momo(see a black pointy-eared cowl with a cape): Oh no…
Shouto: I’m Batman now…
Shouto(realizing what he just said): I’M BATMAN NOW!!!
Momo: …
Momo:*whacks him into sweet unconscious before he could start raving like a madman*
———————————————————————–
Eri(flying towards Ochaco in the New 52 Supergirl costume with Krypto besides her): Mama! Mama! Look, I have a suit like Papa’s!
Ochaco(hugging her): Now you look like a proper Supergirl!
Eri(smiling): Grandpa gave it to me! He said that it’s to show that I’m part of his family!
Hisashi(walks up and ruffles her hair): Anytime Supergirl!
Hisashi: I also gave Izuku some new armor.
Hisashi(looking behind Ochaco): Speaking of which.
Izuku(wearing a set of blue Kryptonian armor with red boots a red belt and his family crest, and a red cape with the crest in black on it, the New 52 Superman armor): How do I look?
Toshinori(coughing up blood and seeing an image of Nana smiling next to him): He really is her grandson…
Denki(stunned): He looks…
Mina(finishing his sentence): Just like Dad!
Shouto:*eyes widening*
Momo(amazed): Oh my god…
Bakugo(shocked, thinking): He used to be a mere pebble in my way, but now he’s like a goddamn mountain! DAMNIT!
The rest of the teachers and classes 1-A and 1-B are left speechless by the imposing yet reassuring presence before them.
Ochaco(smiling): You look like a true Superman.
Superman(grinning back): Thanks, that means a lot coming from you.
Krypto(wagging his tail in excitement): *bark* *jumps up and starts licking Izuku across the face*
Superman(laughing and scratching Krypto behind his ears): Thanks boy!
Inko(turns to Hisashi): I’m so proud of how far he’s come.
Hisashi(turns to her smiling): Even without our guidance or powers, he’d still make a great hero.
Hisashi(thinking as he looks at Izuku playing with Krypto with pride): You will give them an ideal to strive towards…
Hisashi(as Izuku flies outside with his new suit): They will race behind you…
Hisashi(as Aizawa is shown): They will stumble…
Hisashi(as Toshinori is shown): They will fall…
Hisashi(Bakugo is shown): They will curse your name…
Hisashi(Denki, Mina, Eri, Momo, Shouto and Ochaco are shown looking up and smiling): But in time, they will join you in the Sun, Izuku…
Hisashi(Superman is shown floating in front of the moon with a smile on his face, hopeful that tomorrow can be better): In time…
Hisashi(the crest on Izuku’s chest is shown as everything fades to black, leaving the crest before it also fades): You will help them accomplish wonders.

I have the idea that Bakugou is a huge Eraserhead fanboy. Has been for forever. He nearly broke down when he saw who was going to be teaching him homeroom but he was better than that. He waited until he reached home. Still, he didn’t let it distract him and managed to push it down and focus, even if it never really wore off. The only other person who knows of this is Deku, because if anyone knows anything about his childhood, it’s be Deku. And honestly? Bakugou planned to take that secret to his grave but,,,
Deaged Bakugou is a perfectly composed child. He listens to Aizawa’s explanation and instructions, meets his classmates with careful eyes and is all round talking the situation way calmer than a 5 year old should. It’s only when Aizawa leaves him with the rest of the class that Bakugou’s head snaps to Deku with deadly speed, eyes burning.
‘Nerd.’ Bakugou hisses, voice adorably high pitched. ‘How far along in the plan are we?’
Deku gives one slow blink
the quintessential Bakugou scowl slips on the child’s face and what was normally something intimidating (when he was serious) now had them clutching at their chest to contain their squeals.
‘Um…’ Deku hesitates, forever a mess in front of all versions of blond, ‘Kacchan, what plan are you talking about?’
Chubby cheeks drop and Bakugou’s eyes widen in disbelief. ‘What plan? WHAT PLAN? DEKU YOU HAVE TO BE SHITTING ME!’
Iida’s gasp is scandalized
‘Let’s calm down-’
‘Calm down?’ Bakugou screeced, his voice even more piercing. ‘Calm down??? From what I got we’ve known him for months, we should’ve been at step twelve by now, and you’re asking me WHAT PLAN, how can I CALM DOWN??’
At this point, several people are amused, several more are confused and Deku is in absolute distress and disarray because he has no idea what Kacchan is talking about. That is, until the little boy looks up, arms crossed, face solemn and asks. ‘Is it because of Aunty Inko?’ His voice drops to a whisper. ‘Did she, yknow’ Bakugou flexed his left hand, ‘before we came here?’
And suddenly it hits Deku like a particularly violent punch from Kirishima’s hardened fist
That plan
Oh God, how was he going to explain this?
‘Kacchan,’ Deku starts, voice trembling from holding back laughter or tears, no one could tell. ‘Kacchan,’ he clears his throat. ‘No, my mom didn’t get remarried.’
Deku paused, seemingly to give the time to process what he just said (no one did) or to prepare for what he was about to say (no one could). Or maybe just to give them an opportunity to run. (They should’ve taken it)
Deku continued. ‘We just never got to set her up with Aizawa’
Bakugou teeth grinds, ‘That’s Eraserhead dummy,’ his little scowl deepens, ‘ And what do you even mean??’
Deku nods solemnly. Seriously. As if this is a Very Important thing and not a pint sized Bakugou asking why Deku’s mom wasn’t married to their home room teacher. ‘Kacchan,’ his voice was still trembling, ‘we didn’t go through with the plan’
Bakugou’s clenched fists show blatant refusal to accept the idea.
Deku continued. ‘We didn’t even talk about it when we came to UA honestly. It’s been years-‘
‘Shut up. Stop, right now! Bakugou hisses. Deku looks up to see actual tears in his eyes. ‘We had a plan. There’s absolutely no way I gave up on trying to get Eraserhead as an uncle, and you always thought he would make a cool dad-‘
‘You were the one that always said so, I never wanted that’ Deku interrupts.
Bakugou’s gasp rivals Iida’s.
The rest of the class watches the back and forth, watches Midoriya argue with a 5 year old Bakugou, All Might on a cracker, on a 32 step plan that Bakugou had designed to make Aiza-Eraserhead his uncle
Bakugou’s head snaps around, and he gives Kaminari the most vicious sneer a 5 year old could ever give. ‘There were 35 steps’
It’s when Bakugou finally closes his eyes and takes a deep breath (showing more restraint than their Bakugou…older Bakugo(?) normally did) that they thought everything would be alright.
Until he opened his mouth.
‘Okay, but have we punched Endeavor in the balls yet?’
Deku winces.
Bakugou’s scream could be heard for miles

The Statistical Improbability of Being Both Quirkless and an Omega
The Statistical Improbability of Being Both Quirkless and an Omega (And How Things Change After Becoming Just That) by KBeingGay
Izuku presents.
It's so very painful. It feels like glass shards are digging into his skin from the inside of his body, protruding outwards and cutting him with their sharp, misshapen edges. The small of his back hurts, his ankle bones burn, and his wrists fall limp with pain. Noises of agony tumble from his mouth, escaping from his clenched jaw and grating teeth, and he distantly thinks he sounds terrible – all high pitched whines and rumbles of discomfort. He longs for someone to hold him right then, to put a pause to his hurt, throaty sounds; to wash away the pain with soothing touches and comforting embraces. And that just sparks tears in his already glassy eyes, because he knows he doesn't have someone to do that; doesn't have someone to hug him or mutter encouragement or care about him or love him.

And that just sparks tears in his already glassy eyes, because he knows he doesn't have someone to do that; doesn't have someone to hug him or mutter encouragement or care about him or love him.

The Rescue: BNHA x Fem! Reader- Dusty Chinchilla
The rescue intro: here
You laughed as she led you back into the main section of the store, weaving through cages and various animal supplies. She quickly deposited her bunny into a glass enclosure before ducking out of view. She popped up a moment later as she scanned the cages in front of her for something specific. While she looked, you wandered the store. There were so many enclosures with fascinating animals in them. You had made your way to the rodent section when the fairly quiet chattering of the animals kicked up a notch accompanied by a high pitched barking noise. The tank that housed the seemingly angry animal was pushed towards the back, away from the other animals. You were a bit concerned about the noise and Inko's nonreaction to it, so you decided to check it out. Just in case there was something that needed to be dealt with.
You were quite surprised to find the animal that was making the noise was a Chinchilla. He was screaming across the aisle at what looked to be a black snake. He was looking directly at the tank across the way and making irritated barking noises, pressed against the glass. He was really cute, a kind of grey-blue color, and besides that, he was the fluffiest animal you had ever seen. But man could you tell he was angry about something.
You knelt in front of the glass, shivering lightly as the thin material of your work pants did little to shield you as your knees met the cold tile of the floor. A small smile tugged on the corner of your lips as you observed him. The animal was quick to notice you, his curiously red eyes zeroing in on you as he went dead silent. You pouted and tilted your head as you looked him over.
"Aww, did I interrupt your tantrum?"
Your teasing words were met with silence for a beat before the rodent's little hands found their way to his neck, scratching in an aggravated way that immediately made you wince.
"aww, no honey, don't do that. That can't be good for you." You sprang up and waved Inko over, concerned about the little animal.
Inko pulled her phone away from her ear for a beat to acknowledge you before hurriedly hanging up and heading your way.
"what's wrong dear?"
You gestured to the angry chinchilla with distress.
"He's so stressed out! Is there anything we can do for him?"
Inko bit her lip, staring at the animal with pity but also a fair amount of annoyance.
"Tomura does that. I could get him a cone in order to stop, but he'll work himself into a tizzy trying to get it off. Not to mention he hates being handled. Come, I'll take you to see the other pets."
You paused as she began to walk away, leaving him just not sitting well with you. Glancing back at the angry creature, you couldn't help the wave of concerned curiosity that swept over you.
"If I walk away now, is there much hope someone will take him?"
Inko looked back at you, wringing her hands nervously as she thought it over.
"He's temperamental. It would be difficult to place him."
A beat of silence passed as you pondered her words.
"I'll take him." As you said the words, you saw the Chinchilla stop scratching from your peripheral vision.
Inko grimaced before taking a deep breath and offering you a gentle smile.
"You have a lot of compassion. I should have known you'd be interested in our more troubled pets. Let me make a call and get you some supplies. It's the least I can do. I'll be right back."
As she turned to find the supplies you'd need, you focused back on the tank.
Tomura, as Inko had called him, was watching you with an intensity that made you fidget in place a little. His tiny hands had stopped their scratching and were frozen against his neck. He didn't move until you stepped closer to the tank, eyes now level with him as red met (e/c).
"Hey little guy, everything's going to be alright now. I'm busting you out of this joint!"
He was scowling. You didn't know rodents could scowl, but that's definitely the vibe you were picking up from him.
Tomura was confused, absolutely seething, but also confused. Not only was he trapped in this ridiculous body, but now he was being treated like a common animal, a pet to be owned! This was nowhere near what his sensei had planned for him and he couldn't enact his plans in this form. It was utterly infuriating. He decided he would do whatever was in his power to make you regret taking pity on him. How dare you make fun of him! Were you actually trying to play hero with him. think you could save him from being left behind? How naive.
While he was throwing a mental temper tantrum, you were watching with amusement. His anger couldn't help but be a little funny to you, especially now that he wasn't scratching anymore. What did a Chinchilla have to be angry about? You wanted to reach in and reassure him, but you had a good feeling he'd bite you if you put your hand anywhere near him. You'd have to work your way up to that in time.
"Don't be too upset, I'll make sure to take good care of you. Also, you won't have to fight with that snake again! He'll be far away."
Tomura seemed to pause to think about your words. He supposed that at least one good thing would come from this arrangement. The ability to talk to the other humans affected by the quirk that had caused the animal mishap was both a blessing and a curse. Dabi taunted him constantly, taking immense pleasure from his annoyance. While some of the heroes had attempted conversations, he was quick to shut them down. However, that didn't stop the thin golden retriever from checking on him daily, which he'd be glad to be away from. Perhaps he could find a way to escape once he was out of the store? Maybe this ordeal could be a good thing. This train of thought calmed him considerably.
All too quickly for Shigaraki's liking, Mrs. Midoriya was back with a cage and several supplies as well as a carrier. Your eyes widened at the wagon she had loaded for you. Chinchillas needed quite a few things to keep them healthy, you noted. You would have to do some research before bed. You narrowed your eyes in concentration as Inko went to get Shigaraki, wanting to copy her method so you didn't hurt him accidentally.
The kind shopkeeper was surprised when the usually volatile rodent stayed calm and still as she moved him from the tank to a carrier. Once the door was securely shut, she offered the wagon to you. This worried her slightly, but her quick call with Nezu assured her that things would work out.
"There you go, dear. This should be everything you need for now. Hopefully, he doesn't give you much trouble. He's an angry little rascal, but I'm sure he just needs a little extra love and care. I think you're up to the challenge."
You nodded excitedly and cradled the carrier close to your chest, briefly peeking in to smile at your new pet.
"Are you sure you can give me all this? How much do I owe you?" You were struck with sudden concern. All these supplies must be expensive.
Inko simply laughed and waived your concerns.
"It's alright. On the house. It's the least we can do considering you're taking care of Tomura for us."
You nodded and adjusted your grip, shielding the carrier with your coat as you exited the store. It wasn't until you were half a block away that you realized she had said we.
You decided it wasn't a thought worth exploring right now, especially because you had to get Tomura somewhere warm soon. He did have the fluffiest fur you'd ever seen, but you wouldn't wish this cold on anyone. You hugged his carrier to your chest, stubbornly plodding on, wagon handle cold in your other hand. You quickly regretted rushing out without gloves that morning.
Any complaints died on your tongue when your apartment building came into view. Excitement was the main emotion filling you when you remembered that the heater would be on when you entered. When the door slid open, you gave a sigh of relief as a wave of warm air hugged you. Pulling the wagon inside, you shut the door and carefully placed the carrier on the coffee table. You shed your jacket and sat criss-cross on the floor, elbows resting on the table and chin in your hands as you gazed into the carrier.
"Sorry about the bumpy ride, but we're home now. I'll get your cage set up in a jiffy! I want to get you settled so you can relax. No more anxious scratching, okay?"
Tomura simply narrowed his eyes at you from the corner of the carrier where he had retreated when he felt the cage level out. He didn't care what you did, so long as he would be left alone. He had plans to make in order to escape, and that meant you needed to leave him alone.
Tilting your head, you smiled and blew him a kiss before hopping up to paw through the supplies you had been given. The wagon was well stocked. A box rested at the bottom that held all the pieces you needed for the cage. Also included was a bag of timothy hay, pellets, bedding, some treats, food and water bowls, and exercise wheel, a little structure for him to hide in, wood and mineral chews, a bag of dust, a cool little bowl for the dust bath, and a variety of toys that you hoped he enjoyed. It looked like Mrs. Midoriya had really thought of everything!
You focused on setting up, humming to yourself as you worked. Cycling through a variety of video game themes, you jumped as you heard the door rattling on the carrier. You turned back to look just as Tomura retreated further into the cage. Apparently, he had gotten closer to the door and accidentally jostled it in the process.
"I'll be done with your cage soon, dusty boy. Then you can stretch your legs to your heart's content."
He watched you get back to work, not realizing that it was the humming that had drawn his attention. Tomura didn't have a high opinion of most people, but he liked video games. And apparently so did you. His opinion of you had risen. Not by much, but a tiny bit.
Once the cage was done, you were faced with the difficult task of transferring your new pet into it. Hopefully, he would be as calm getting taken out of the carrier as he was being put into it. As luck would have it, it was as easy as putting the entrance of the cage against the opening of the carrier with both doors open. It didn't take long for Shigaraki to scurry inside and hide in the little structure that was there specifically for that purpose.
After shutting the cage, you allowed yourself to stretch. Rolling your neck yielded quiet cracks as the tension of the day caught up to you. You gave the cage a tired smile before standing.
"Sleep well Tomura. Tomorrow is a new day."
With that, you turned off the light and retreated to your bedroom. Once you finished your nightly routine, you settled into bed. For a while, you thought about how best to care for Tomura. He would be difficult to get to open up, but you were determined to love him and make him feel cared for. The anger he carried might be from a past owner, and you were determined to help him. Consumed by a fluffy comforter and assortment of pillows, you let sleep carry you away from consciousness.
~~~~~ The first few weeks were frustrating for all involved. It was definitely a learning curve when it came to caring for Shigaraki. He was antisocial at best and antagonistic at worst. Not to mention he was too smart for his own good in your opinion. He was quick to figure out the doors on the cage, despite his lack of opposable thumbs. This led to quite a few frantic searches on your part. To his dismay though, doors and windows were absolutely beyond his capabilities in this form. That is the predicament he was currently facing when you found him in the morning when you had been getting ready for work.
"Tomu! What on Earth are you doing on the window sill! You're going to get hurt, silly boy!"
Swooping in, you deftly lifted his squirming body into your arms. You gave him a peck on the forehead and he froze. He was never sure how to respond to your affection, so he simply malfunctioned. Error 417, Tenko.exe is unable to meet the requirements for this emotion. You giggled at his reaction and peppered his soft little head with more kisses before carefully placing him back in his cage. Once he was back inside, he put as much distance between the two of you as he was allowed before furiously scratching at his neck with agitation.
You pouted in distress, far from happy about his reaction. You were giving him lots of attention, but it was a slow process to get him to trust you, still the freeze-ups were better than him outright pulling away.
"Tomu, stop that. That's not good for you! You're going to hurt yourself."
His little paws twitched but slowed. Your voice distracted him simply because of the tone you were using. The habit didn't seem to annoy or disgust you as others would often say. Instead, your voice was filled with distress, as if the thought of harm coming to him hurt you as well. This was not a sentiment Shigaraki was used to in the slightest, nor did he know what to do with it.
It took him some time to notice you had left for work. He had been so lost in thought that he hadn't noticed your departure. He was unnerved to discover this bothered him. He wasn't sure why, but he had grown used to your overly affectionate presence. It was infuriating, but he was more content when you were around. Having someone to interact with who purposefully sought him out was nice, even if he told himself it was annoying. The door to the cage slid open with practiced ease. He was irritated by his own reaction, but he didn't want to think about what that meant. The best course of action in his mind was to find a distraction.
As a human, he found himself drawn to video games. He was quite put out to discover your lack of gaming supplies, especially after all the tunes he heard from you that were popular games he enjoyed. Still, considering his minuscule form, there was no way he could have indulged anyway, controllers are made for human-sized hands after all. Wandering the apartment, he allowed himself to take in your decorations. This was the first time he had escaped from the cage without the intent to find a way to escape the apartment. Now he was able to take everything in without distraction. You had few decorations, almost as if you were scared to make the place your own. He had experienced that many times when he shuffled from hideout to hideout. Not that he had many possessions of his own anyway, his most prized possession was his computer, as it was his escape. Sensei allowed for his gaming habit, purely because of the strategy it taught. For Tomura, it was less of a strategic play than it was a chance to be someone else. Someone people trusted and would treat with respect. The more noticeable and stronger he was in the virtual world, the more people paid him attention. No one would ignore him then.
He shook himself out of his thoughts, continuing to explore. Once he reached your room, he let out a disgusted sound. Of course, you were a hero supporter. He was tempted to see if he could reach the Allmight poster on your wall so he could shred it to pieces. Unfortunately, it was too high of a goal, so he contented himself with chewing a hole in your Allmight hoodie instead when he found it unattended in the livingroom.
That was how you found him when you came back from work. The long day had clearly worn you down. Your hair was messy from where you had run your fingers through it too many times. Hanging your jacket by the door, you placed a small package on the counter before collapsing onto the sofa next to him. Pausing in his attempt to massacre the article of clothing, he was surprised to see you hadn't noticed him. Your eyes were closed and you were clearly exhausted. A groan of weariness and pain escaped from your lips before you finally turned your attention to him. The look on your face was supposed to make him feel smug. Instead, he felt something akin to pain, a raw sort of scraping feeling in the pit of his stomach that made him feel smaller than he'd ever been. He hated it. He never wanted to see that expression on you again if it made him feel like this.
"Tomu, how could you... That's one of my favorites. " Your tone was quiet and disappointed like you wanted to be angry but just didn't have the energy. You took the hoodie from him and pulled him into your lap, setting the jacket aside. It surprised both of you when he let it happen. There was something about you today that he despised. This isn't how you usually acted. You were supposed to be mad! You were supposed to scold him and then make a joke about not knowing what to do with him. He didn't like your quiet, it wasn't you and it wasn't right. His paws rose to his neck as his confused thoughts roared.
A choked sort of whimper came from your chest, all the stress from your day and the concern for him coming together in one pitiful noise. He froze at the sound. Your fingers carefully gripped his paws and moved them away from his neck.
"You stop that. Everything's alright, you're safe here and I won't let anything hurt you, even if it's you. "
To say you had a bad day was an understatement. The cafe had been severely understaffed and you were worked ragged. Most of the customers were not understanding and having worked another hard shift the day before, you were at the end of your rope. When you had finally been allowed to leave for the night, you had been exhausted and dead on your feet. Stopping at a bakery on the way home, you allowed yourself a small indulgence in the form of a single cupcake. On your way to the apartment, you had almost been involved in a quirk incident by some thief nearby. All this and when you finally were able to get home and relax, your pet had put a pretty noticeable hole in your favorite hoodie. It was one of the first things you had purchased for yourself since you had moved to Japan so it was incredibly important to you. You nearly cried when you saw the damage that had been done. You wanted to scream and rant, but looking down at Tomura, you knew you couldn't be upset with him, not really. He was acting out becuase you weren't home. You were fairly sure he had some separation anxiety. Any anger or hard scolding would do more harm than good. Instead, you focused on what you could do to help him instead. Poor thing was obviously stressed about something. Maybe he could learn from this and not act out to get your attention.
After you were sure he was done scratching, you put his paws down. He was calmer, but you still wanted to be sure he was okay. You carefully ran your fingers through his fur, offering what comfort you could through your touch. He let himself get lost in the sensation, the yelling in his mind quieting to whispers. You were singing now, words washing over him as your voice lilted, a distraction for you as much as for him. He vaguely recognized the tune from a videogame but didn't let his thoughts linger on it, rather enjoying the soft quiet that had come over him.
It was a slow realization, one that took quite some time to get through his thick skull, but that night Tomura realized that he didn't hate you. Far from it. He had grown fond of you without realizing it. He didn't like when you were upset, especially when he was the cause. If he could stop you from ever looking so sad and tired and pained, he would do it in a heartbeat. He told himself it was because your face made him feel strange, but he never stopped to wonder why he was upset that you were upset. Still, this was the start of something that would only grow over the time spent together.
You fell asleep on the couch that night, comforted by the soft fur under your fingertips and the repetitive motion that came with petting him. The stress of the day piled up on your shoulders and the weight buried you so much that gentle waves of exhaustion flooded your mind. Sleep overtook you with little hesitation.
The next day, you awoke with a crick in your neck and pleasant warmth in your lap. Looking down at Tomura, you couldn't help the fond smile that insisted it makes itself known on your face. He had never willingly let you hold him until last night. And he had stayed. That spoke volumes about how he felt. Your fingers carefully caressed the top of his head as those pretty red eyes slowly opened.
"Good morning, my sweet dusty boy. Did you sleep alright?"
Shigaraki knew he should get up, but he pushed those thoughts aside. Sensei wasn't here right now to scold him, and he was tired. He could let himself rest in the lap of the pretty lady for just a little while longer and let you call him yours. You made him feel safe and cared for, something he craved. There was this foreign warmth in his chest that he had never had before. But oddly, he wasn't concerned about it. Perhaps it was a powerup he hadn't encountered before. His senses were dulled by the warmth and he didn't feel like moving, the sensation too pleasant to give up. Once your fingers found the fur on this head, his eyes quickly slipped shut again in bliss.
No one had ever done this for him. Physical touch was always some form of discipline, he didn't understand what others gained from it when it was displayed in his dating sim games. But now, he was hooked. Your fingers were so gentle, he didn't know humans could be so gentle. Idly he wondered what your fingers would feel like against his human skin. Would you still be this gentle? Would you still handle him like he was something precious?
would you be scared of him?
His eyes snapped open when he realized where he let his thoughts wander. He couldn't allow thoughts like that, sensei had drilled into him that thoughts like that were a weakness. But still... he burned to know the answers.
"What's got you so quiet, pretty boy?"
Humming, you stood, Tomura securely in your arms. As you headed to his cage, you noticed the box from the bakery you had abandoned on the counter. Switching directions you carefully placed him on the island.
"Want to know a secret?"
The chinchilla curiously smelled the air, whiskers twitching as he smelled the sweet treat you had opened. You gave him a conspiratorial smile before sticking a single candle into the dessert and lighting it.
"It was my birthday yesterday. The first one I've spent alone. Well, you're here, so I guess it wasn't actually spent alone. Thanks for being here for me when no one else was."
Shigaraki felt that scraping feeling in his stomach again. Birthdays weren't things he considered important, but in games, they were treated like great occasions. He had upset you on a day you were supposed to be happiest. This didn't sit well with him, but your words.... they were important. He was here for you. He liked the sound of that.
"Thanks for yesterday, Tomu. I know you don't like being handled, but you let me pet you. I kind of needed that after the day I had. Even though you put a hole in my hoodie, I'm still so so grateful to have you."
Your smile was one of the loveliest things he had ever seen. The warmth from earlier was back and fiercer than ever, overcoming the bitter feeling from before. Even with all the stupid and mean things he had done while under your care, you refused to hate him. In fact, it seems you did the opposite. These thoughts rested heavily on his mind but he let them settle, not wanting to disturb the growing warmth that only you had ever triggered.
Singing softly to yourself, you wished yourself a happy birthday and blew out the candle. Shigaraki took a mental screenshot of that moment, where your smile made all the stress fade away and you were simply happy to be there with him.
~~~~~
Since your birthday, you were pleased to find your little dusty gremlin was warming up to you. It had started slow. He was aloof tentative with you before he softened again. Now he let you hold him all the time and even actively searched you out. Spending time with him was easy and coming home to him was the highlight of your day. Long shifts at your stupid job were going to be the death of you, but it was worth it for those moments spent with Tomura. You had taken to talking with him as if he could actually understand you. Lying on the floor or the couch, you would tell him about your day, absently petting him as dreams and trials alike spilled from your lips. Sometimes, he even gave you reactions that were so human that you had to stop and point it out with a giggle. He hated when you called him cute, but he didn't get all snippy like when you had first gotten him. Now it was just a little annoyed huff and he was back to listening intently. You treasured this time with him and he seemed to look forward to it too, even when you talked about heroes and how much you looked up to them.
~~~~
You had long since given up trying to keep Shigaraki in his cage. The doors were now left open so he could roam as he pleased. He waited for you in the living room, excited to see you after a long day. He had noticed you had been working more hours recently and always came home tired. The way your eyes lit up when you would enter the room and see him made that pleasant warmth glow brighter. He had given up denying it at this point. The only logical explanation was that he cared about you. Without his noticing, you had raised his affection points, and now... He was hooked. He would do anything for you to make you happy. Sensei would call it a weakness, but Tomura saw it as strength. Adding you to his party as his second in command, his player 2, would benefit both of you. Still, he wasn't human anymore, something he was becoming more and more bitter about as days passed.
He perked up from his thoughts at the sound of your key in the lock at the door. It was late, he noticed. How rude of you to keep him waiting for so long. Crossing the room quickly, he waited impatiently for the smile you always greeted him with. Unfortunately, it was absent as you trudged inside. One of your coworkers told the boss you would cover her shift without confirming it with you first. This led to a frantic text in the morning saying you were late. Because of this, you had gotten chewed out at work because of course, he believed your coworker over you.
You were too wrapped up in your thoughts to even offer Tomura a greeting as you trudged past him. You made sure he had fresh food and water in his cage before throwing yourself on the couch, not having the energy to make it to your room.
Shigaraki quickly scurried over, face set in annoyance by your attitude. He wondered what on Earth had happened to make you ignore him. Going through a mental checklist, he was positive it wasn't something that he had done, so it must have been something that happened while you were out.
Your gaze found his as he peeked over the seat of the couch at you and the tears you had been holding back started to slip. His ears flattened in alarm. Tears? Were you hurt? Hopping up onto the couch beside you, he nosed around your torso, looking for the source of pain. Your arms found his body and you gently curled yourself around him for comfort.
"I don't know what I'm going to do, Tomu. They fired me today."
He stiffened at your words. Even he could see the stress you put on yourself to keep your stupid job. You had no support from family, lived alone, and worked to make sure he was taken care of. You couldn't afford to lose your source of income. It pained him that he could do nothing to help. Instead of wiping your tears away like he longed to do, he nuzzled against you, a reminder that he was there and you weren't alone, he wasn't going anywhere. Emotions were confusing, and while he still didn't know how to react, he knew that sometimes you had just had to get all the emotions out before anything could get better.
"I'll make sure you're taken care of Tomu. I promise I won't let anything happen to you."
Your breathing slowed gradually after your declaration, energy all but gone as you surrendered to sleep. Shigaraki was in awe of you nonetheless. All this time, you were upset about the possibility of losing him. He was important to you and that mattered to him.
He carefully freed himself from your grip to attempt to drag a blanket over you. Hopping onto the floor, he looked back at your sleeping face. His heart ached to see the dried tear tracks on your face, but he was pleased to see you looked more peacefull now. The warmth he usually felt around you seemed to grow in strength, normally a warm glow, it was turning into an inferno that spread out from his chest. The sensation of liquid fire filling his veins was vaguely uncomfortable and was accompanied by a tinging that turned to pinpricks of static. When he felt like he couldn't take the feeling anymore, it disappeared with a barely heard pop sound. His limbs felt heavy and as the disorientation faded, he came to an important realization. He was human again. He quickly brought his hands up to his face, he winced at the dry texture under his eyes and the stinging pain that came with the smile that formed. He was back to normal.
A sudden light distracted him from his thoughts.. Your phone lit up with a message displayed on an Allmight lock screen that made him roll his eyes. He was careful to keep his pinky up as he grabbed your phone from where it had fallen on the floor. The message displayed was one that set his teeth on edge.
'You left some of your things in the office. You have until tomorrow at 4 to get them or I throw them away. And make sure you have someone cover your shift for tomorrow. Just because you're fired, doesn't mean you get to screw us with your shifts. '
Few things made Tomura as angry as the message from your exboss did. How dare they treat you as if you had inconveinienced them by being fired! His player 2 was levels above this, this slime. How dare he talk to you like that? White hot anger filled his veins as emotions overpowered him. His fingers twitched as he resisted the urge to scratch his neck. He decided what his first quest should be with his body back.
He didn't notice your wide eyes peering at his back from your spot on the couch. You had noticed his warmth leave you earlier and watched his transformation with stunned shock. You quickly snapped your eyes shut when he started to turn back to you, coaching your expression into one of false sleep. A blanket was carefully tucked around you. His fingers ghosted over your cheek, gently brushing the hair from your face with a featherlight touch. You only allowed yourself to open your eyes again when you heard your bedroom door shut. Your pet... He was a man. Not only that, but he was a famous villain. You could barely process this. Your gaze jumped up when he exited your room, donning your largest pair of sweatpants and a black tank top that rode high on his hips. He grabbed the closest jacket, the allmight hoodie you were so fond of, and he slipped out the front door.
There was no way you were letting him get away so easily. He was going to get himself caught out there! You grabbed your phone and hurriedly put on shoes before following him as quickly as you could. It was a miracle you were able to keep up. The man may be skinny and barefoot, but man did he have long legs. It took a while to notice, but you were surprised to see the route was quite familiar to you. Originally, you had thought he'd be headed to a hide out, but instead he led you to your workplace.
Shigaraki looked up at the cafe with distaste. You had worked here a given your all, yet they somehow had the audacity to fire you. It appeared he was right on time. The owner was exiting the building, having finished closing for the night. A dark grin spread over Tomura's face as he closed in on the man, hand extended with full intent to dust the man who had caused his player 2 to be upset. What he wasn't expecting was a hug from behind, effictively halting him from moving forward. He glanced down with irritation before grabbing a wrist from the interlocked hands around his waist. Whoever dared to stop him was a very unlucky soul. He dragged them into an allyway out of sight and whipped around to face them. He froze almost comically when he saw you staring back at him with anxious eyes.
"(y/n)? What are you doing here? " He pulled away from you as if he had been stung, fingers leaving your skin with lightning speed. He could have hurt you, one more finger and you would have been gone. The horror of what he could have done left his fingers twitching for his neck.
You looked over the man, taking in his pale hair, the red eyes you always thought were so pretty, and the thin frame hidden in an oversized hoodie. You had seen him on tv and in news reports, but they didn't do him justice. He may be a villain, but he was yours. The pieces came together and you let a soft smile form.
"You were after my boss, right?"
He gawked at you. He had almost killed you, and that was what you were concerned about?
"Are you an idiot, girl? You could very likely die by my hands any second. Now is not the time to worry about that insignificant man you just sacrificed yourself for."
You shook your head, hands up in a placating gesture.
"Tomura... calm down. I know you wouldn't hurt me. Sorry for startling you, but as nice as the sentiment is, i'd prefer you didn't murder anyone for me."
He narrowed his eyes.
"You know who I am... You think you could take on a villain by yourself? So arrogant. "
He knew he was self sabotaging, but he had to prove a point. Your reckless behavior could have gotten you killed. Had it been any other villain.. you'd be dead. He needed you to realize the danger you were in. Sure, all he wanted to do in that moment was pull you into his arms, but you should be afraid.
"I do know who you are. I know exactly who you are. You..."
You took a step forward. With each move forward he took a hesitant step back, until it was him with his back against the wall.
"You, are my sweet dusty boy. You are there for me when I'm lowest."
You reach up, one hand moving to cup his cheek as he watches you with wide, uncertain eyes.
"You are mine, and you wouldn't hurt me. Couldn't hurt me."
As you hold his face, you can feel the tension, but your last words to him break something in him. He leans into your touch, letting himself be held in his true form for the first time.
"I know what your quirk does Tomura, but you don't have to worry."
Confusion pools in those ruby eyes before your other hand finds his, all five fingers finding his. A moment of horror filled panic fills his eyes at the touch before he flinches back.
You stepped back and calmly held up your hand for him to see.
"I basically consider myself quirkless, but... I do have one ability. Other people's quirks don't work on me."
You were expecting his relieved expression. What you weren't expecting was the sudden kiss now desperately pressed against your lips. You melted into it, hands going to hold him back as he crushed you to him like a lifeline.
He only relinquished his hold once the need for oxygen demanded it. You looked up at him with that smile that made him so happy.
"Hey, I promised it would be okay, remember? I wouldn't break my promise to you. "
Soulmates were always a thing since the beginning of time. The signs were simple when you were supposed to find your soulmate. You either share the same colored iris of their right eye, or their birth date would be tattooed on your thumb in cursive. Some people got both, while others just had one.
The signs didn’t come at birth. Some babies were born with grey eyes and wouldn’t get their soulmate’s eye color until they turned 14. It was a celebration when a child finally got their right eye color, matching with their soulmate or not. However, there were cases where someone wouldn’t receive their right eye color until they turned 17.
Other babies who were born with a birthmark in the shape of a heart on their thumb got their tattoo at the age of 5. It was funny how the two worked. But that’s how the universe wanted it.
Izuku Midoryia was always a curious child, ever since he learned how to walk. He was always up to meeting anyone with a new face. You happened to fall victim to his ways. Izuku met you when both of you were 4 years old, at a park. You were running around the playground and when he saw you, he practically begged his mom to let him go. With much reluctance, she did.
Both of you connected rather quickly. When your mothers called for you to leave, both of you clung to each other as you sobbed, begging for another 10 minutes with each other. Seeing their children already so close despite only knowing each other for an hour, the mothers decided to talk amongst themselves as well.
Inko and your mother got along well. This meant that you and Izuku would be seeing each other a lot more, which both of you were ecstatic about.
Both of you went to the same school. In the younger grades, the teachers would hold a small celebration for any child that received their tattoo. It happened a couple of times. A group of small kids and their teacher surrounding one of the students, a bright glowing light emitting from their thumb. It was something that always fantasized Izuku. He couldn’t wait for his own.
Yet he wasn't born with the heart birthmark. You were born with one.
That was the only thing you could babble about. How excited you were to find out the date, to find your prince charming as you told him after watching your princess movies.
“I think today is the day Izu-kun! I feel it!” You spoke with confidence, jutting your thumb in his direction.
“W-what makes you think that?!” he gasped, his small brain blown away at your confidence.
“I just feel it! Today I’m going to find out about my prince charming!!” You giggled as you curtseyed, acting out the role of the princess. “And we’ll dance and dance!”
“It sounds like you have your whole life planned out! I wish I was able to get one!”
“Silly!” You pointed to his grey eyes. “You’ll get the eye remember?! That’s super-duper cool if you ask me!”
He rubbed his knuckles gently bashfully as he lowered his head.”You really think so?”
“I know so! You’ll probably get a pink! Or maybe purple!”
“Maybe yellow!” Izuku’s little body rattled with laughter alongside you. Both of you were huddled up on the carpeted floor, minding your own business from the other kids who were too busy coloring.
“Bright!” you gasped and held your hand out, a glowing light emitting from your heart birthmark. “S-Sensei! It’s glowing!”
At the sound of your voice, your teacher and your classmates rushed to you. Izuku scooted closer, watching the heart glow brighter. “Does it hurt Y/N-Chan?” he whispered in astonishment, hand touching your arm.
You stayed silent as you stared at the scene in front of you, the heart outlined in a gold shimmery light, it’s light blinding but also beautiful. It fully stopped as black ink formed on your hand.
“What does it say?”
You whimpered and lifted your hand up to your teacher’s bent over body. “I don’t know what it says.” You were only five years old and was still learning to read your numbers.
A chuckle left their lips as they grabbed your tiny wrist in their bigger hand, scanning over it. “July 15th!”
Gasps resonated throughout the room.
“That’s my birthday!” Izuku squeaked out as he stared at you.
You cheekily smiled and clapped your hands together. “It is! Maybe it’s you Izu-kun! Maybe you’re my prince charming!”
“You think that?!”
“I don’t know! But will we dance and dance like they do in the fairytales?!”
Izuku absentmindedly nodded as he bowed. “Yes Princess Y/N! We will dance and dance!”
You jutted out your pinkie in his direction, a serious look for a five year old displayed on your face. “You pinkie promise swear Izu-kun?”
He stared at it for a second before sticking his pinkie out as well, wrapping his small one around yours. “I pinkie promise swear Y/N-chan!”
☽✧ ✦ ✧☾
“My birthday passed and I still haven’t gotten my color! What if I’m not meant to have a soulmate?”
You scoffed and held the papers close to your chest. “That’s not true Izu! You’re going to! Don’t be so negative. Be like All Might!” You cheered and jumped up, fist raised in the air.
He shook his head, his green hair moving in the slightest with his motion. “Yeah you’re right. He hasn’t even said anything about his soulmate! Maybe it’s kept a secret!”
You squealed like a little school girl, which you were. “How romantic!! Keeping your lover away from the spotlight! A mysterious type of love! Imagine that!”
“What’s so cute about that? Sounds like a cheap drama to me.”
An offended gasp left your lips as you spun on your heel, stopping right in front of him. “Cheap drama?!” you bent over a bit, placing your hands on your hips, one of your hands holding your papers. “It’s more than that!”
He stumbled back at your sudden movement and gulped. You were close. Close enough where he can smell the faint essence of your shampoo. His eyes were glued to your face. Over the years he definitely saw the changes throughout your body and would even say he found himself attracted to you.
You’ve grown from the tiny toddler that always wanted to protect him, to a maturing teenager. You also noticed the changes in Izuku’s appearance. You noticed the way his face lost its baby fat and slowly shaped itself over time. Both of your moms loved seeing you walk home together. It was something that warmed both of their children staying friends after many years. They secretly hoped that your soulmates were each other, if only the universe was nice enough to grant their wishes.
“You listen well!” you snapped with no ill intention, somehow shuffling closer to his now trembling body. “It is romantic to protect your soulmate from the horrors of this world! Imagine just fighting for them! That’s so romantic! In the dramas, their reason for fighting is always their soulmate! If someone fought for me, I would love them forever and ever!” you swooned, clasping your hands to your chest as your fingers gripped around the vest. Your papers were long gone on the floor, your eyes squeezed shut. If they were open, he could have swore he would have seen hearts in your eyes.
“Okay I get it!” he said quickly, hands in front of his body as he shook them in defense. “If you shut your eyes any tighter you won’t see!”
A groan left your lips as a pout tugged them right after. “I was in my dream world! Always messing with it huh, Izu!” You opened your eyes to stare at him, head tilting to the side like a confused puppy when you saw his shocked expression.
“What?” you asked, hand reaching up to your face. “Is there something on my face or something?”
His mouth opened but no words came out, only strangled noises and gasps for air. His index finger pointed at his right eye. “Y-Your eye! It’s maroon!”
A scream left your lips as you quickly took out your phone, immediately going on the camera app to stare at your reflection. “I-It’s here! It’s here!” your voice was higher pitched, clearly in shock as you felt the back of your neck heat up.
You lowered your phone and placed it back in your bag. “Oh my..it’s here” you whispered breathlessly, slowly lifting your head to meet Izuku’s concerned gaze. “D-Do you not like it or something?” he whispered.
Your next action startled him. A high pitch squeal filled his ears as your hands found themselves on his wrists, squeezing them as you jumped and down, excited. “It’s here Izu!” Your head bobbed up with each jump you did, your smile never faltering as you kept using his body as leverage to jump.
He felt his heartbreak and fall in the depths of his soul. “I’m so happy for you Y/N! I bet it’s so exciting to finally get it!”
He was truly happy for you, he was. On the inside he was already hurting. He felt like his heart got chopped up and thrown away. You had a soulmate. Someone out there was already made for you. For you to love. For them to cherish and protect you like you wanted.
He couldn’t. He couldn’t hold you. He couldn’t cherish you. He couldn’t protect you like you wanted. You weren’t meant for him.
You stared into his gaze with your new eyes. The iris from your parents matched beautifully with the maroon. If possible, it made your eyes stand out more. “Do they look weird?” you whispered, suddenly self conscious of your new appearance.
“Course not! I think they look-” he stopped himself, flustering up as he twiddled his thumbs. “Beautiful.”
“Ah..” you rubbed your arm, hand moving up and down slowly, lowering your head at his words. “T-thank you Izu..” you meekly whispered before gasping, reaching out and grabbing him by his forearms. “I have to tell my mom! I’ll catch up with you later?!”
Enrolling at UA High School gave Izuku many opportunities. Before enrolling, he met with the Symbol of Peace himself. Gaining his quirk, Izuku worked hard to achieve his goal of entering. Seeing you at the entrance exam made him ecstatic.
That was until he would look into your eyes. Each time he dreaded looking into them. It left a grim reminder that he wasn’t for you. He remembered every moment of that day when you got the color. He remembered crying into his pillow for hours, leaving his mother worried sick. He couldn’t tell you how jealous he felt. He didn’t want to ruin your friendship.
Each kid in his class had their tattoo wrapped around their thumb or mismatched eyes. He often felt left out. He could feel the pity stares sent his way. The hushed whispers of gossipers ringing in his ears. Every time you would comfort him about it, saying it was natural to feel the way he was feeling, he couldn’t feel your comfort. It didn’t feel sincere to him. Nothing did.
He despised his birthday after his 14th. He hated the thought that this coming birthday will be the same as the one before. No trace of his soulmate. He did research. He tried forcing it by thinking of his soulmate. Would spend endless nights begging that the next day a sign would appear.
There were times where he would come into class, absolutely exhausted as his feet dragged behind him, his shoulders slouched forward, his green and grey eyes bloodshot. It worried you to no end. You often spent nights in his dorm, comforting him. He would break down into your arms, repeating the words that no one would love him. That no one was made for him.
When you got your signs you were over the top. You ranted and bragged about how amazing your soulmate was without even knowing them. You already knew it. Deep down you could feel their presence. It was an amazing feeling. A spark exploding inside of you that had to be let out soon. You heard stories of people finding their soulmates. How time seemed to stop leaving the two of them to drown in each other’s presence. You wanted it.
Izuku’s birthday was today. His 17th to be exact. He was holding onto the small string of hope. You hoped that this would be different. He was at the age limit where he should have gotten the sign. You didn’t want this birthday to end with him crying again. You wanted him to be happy. He deserved it.
It was a sunny afternoon. Izuku and you walked in silence to a park—the park where both of you had first met. A small humming came from his end, a small bounce in his step as the both of you continued to follow the cement path to a nearby bench.
He would say it was an average morning. Despite the fact that you and Ochako decided to wake him up by singing him happy birthday and practically forcing him out of bed while he was still half asleep. He got greeted by all of his classmates, even Eri said happy birthday to which brought a big smile on his face.
All Might came down and spoke a few words to his successor. Even Aizawa, which surprised the whole class.
“Soo..” you spoke up, hands clasped behind your back. “Did your mom call?”
He nodded and looked up at the sky, red tresses adorning the blue sky. “She did. She was the first one to call me this morning”
“I’m surprised she didn’t stop by. I mean after all, I’m sure she could have gotten a free pass or something”
“Yeah” he mumbled, eyes averted downwards. Something was on his mind.
“Hey, why am I getting the feeling that you aren’t okay?”
A shrug of his shoulders made him lift his head to meet your gaze. “I’m alright. Just thinking.”
“Whatcha thinking about, Izu?”
“The normal is all.”
“Oh” was all you said as you lowered your head, regretting that you even asked him.
His elbow gently jabbed into your side. “Don’t look so down.” A gentle smile appeared on his lips, motioning to the park bench with his head. “I still got time.”
“Yeah you’re right about that.” you followed his footsteps from behind, placing yourself down on the wooden bench.
A comfortable silence overcame the both of you. You leaned forward, resting your hands on your knees. “It’s been a long time hasn’t it?”
“What do you mean?”
“Did you ever think we would be here? I mean since we were kids, I just… When I was younger I didn’t think we would be here if I’m being honest. I thought we were just going to have playdates till we drifted off once we entered high school.”
Izuku turned his body to face you, concern evident on his face as his grey and green eyes glossed with tears. “You thought that?”
You nodded slowly as you pointed a finger towards the playground. “Do you remember? You came up to me with that bright smile of yours, asking me if we could play together. I remember we played superheroes, played on swings, and went down the slide so many times.”
A wave of nostalgia hit his body as he relaxed, leaning into the wood of the bench. “Yeah, I remember that. t’s funny how simpler times were back then huh? Not have to worry about grades, quirk sometimes, and...” he got quiet as his leg bounced up and down. “And soulmates”
“You seem to be stressing about your soulmate a lot. Izu it’ll happen. I promise. I mean you are technically of age now.”
“Yeah but what if it doesn’t happen?” he whispered, clenching the iron bar of the armrest, a small spark of his quirk emitting from his body. “What if I’m not meant for anyone? What if I’m one of those sad cases that will never ever find someone? Those pity stares keep me up at night! Everyone always talks about me like I’m not there!”
A small sob left his lips as a hand covered his eyes, shielding the small sense of dignity he had left.
“Izu,” you whispered breathlessly, reaching out to touch him. Your fingertips touched the top of his shoulder, his body jerking away.
“No! I don’t want you to feel bad for me! I like you! I like you so much but I’m not for you! You aren’t for me! I cry every day because you’re the one I want yet I can’t have you!”
Your vision grew blurry as you desperately rubbed your eyes with the back of your hand to conceal your tears. “You dummy..you can’t just say stuff like that!”
He sniffled as he looked over at you. “And why is that?”
You felt your heart stop. A funny feeling running through your veins. Butterflies appeared in the pit of your stomach. “Izu...” you whispered and suddenly cradled his face, your thumbs rubbing the swell of his tinted cheeks. “You- your eye.”
His eyes widened drastically and he immediately shoved his hand into his pocket, pulling out his phone. Turning on the camera he faced it toward him as he choked on air. Green and maroon eyes. “It’s maroon,” he whispered and lowered his phone onto his lap.
You let out a shaky breath and reached for his hand. A spark of electricity ran through your veins at the touch. His presence was clear as ever. His touch was real. It was like you were able to see clearly now.
This was the moment everyone spoke of. The warmth of their partner touching them for the first time. The newfound wave of love exploding throughout both bodies.
“I can’t believe it.” His eyes wandered to your hands enclosing his, focusing on his birthday tattooed on your thumb. The word and numbers adorning it.
“Neither can I,” you replied, squeezing his hand gently.
“There are an infinite amount of soulmates you could have had...yet you got me.”
A small smile tugged your lips as you stroked the side of his face with your knuckle. “There may be infinite amounts but I wouldn’t dream of being theirs. I only want you, Izu.”
He stood up abruptly as he held his hand out. “Well Princess, are you ready to dance and dance?”
A laugh left your lips. The moment when you were both small as you made a promise to each other replayed through your head. You could have swore you imagined a smaller version of the both of you, dancing and running around the playground behind him. A sign that everything will be alright.
You placed your smaller hand in his, using him as leverage to stand up.
“I’m ready to dance and dance with you until the end of time, my Prince.”
06.
there’s things you tell your best friend, then there’s things assholes don’t deserve to know
It was another night of training with your grandfather, another night of beating if you could give it a subtitle.
As of late, you’d been sparring against Shinso to help him get into shape should he wish to transfer to the Heroics Department. And so far, he’s showing results. Just when is he going to make use of them, you’ll never know.
But, it’s summer break now, so he’s deserved a break from night training. And with that, resumes your training with your grandfather – whom you’ve never beaten once. He just loves to shift his fighting style to his liking and without warning.
And sometimes, or just because he doesn't have tact or does it on purpose, he manages to catch you off guard.
“…what.”
“You’re really making me repeat myself?” having blocked your kick, with your feet in his hands, he pushed back, causing you to slide into the mat. “Masaru called, inviting us for dinner before the boys head off to their summer camp.”
“And you said ‘yes’ without even asking me!?”
And you just saw Uncle Masaru a few days ago!
Yellow eyes stared at you, unimpressed. “Clearly, from your reaction alone, we both knew what you’d say.” He says with a gruff, circling you. “Don’t be rude, girl.”
And then, he charged towards you.
Blocking his attacks proved difficult, especially since he successfully caught you off guard.
Straining to block all his punches, you nearly missed the kick to sweep you off your feet making you jump. Landing awkwardly on your feet, he charges at you again. Picking up on his approach, you deflect at his hands, aiming to grab hold on you. Seeing an opening, you aim for a quick kick to his stomach- to which he easily caught his hands, twisting your foot with a flick of his wrist, you were twirling in the air and landing on your back, hard.
Groaning, you didn’t have to open your eyes to see the smug look on his face, but the tone of his voice was another. “You better be on your best behavior, foolish girl.”
Grumbling, you lied there, yellow eyes opening, set on the ceiling, grimacing into space.
“Tell that to him.”
Dinner later that evening, you dressed simply: wearing a simple shirt, with a print that comically read ‘plaid’ in kanji, tucked in a simple long skirt. The shirt had been a gift from Izuku, one the two of you got together at a bargain sale.
Funnily enough, when he showed up, he wore the same shirt. You two laughed at each other, enough to ignore the ash-blond eyeing the two of you.
Dinner was rather eventful, with the adults doing the talking, often asking questions to either teen. Bakugou, however, was surprisingly quiet. You pretended not to notice, but it was hard when the teen sat across you, carmine eyes meeting yours for a fleeting second before you tore away first. For the rest of the dinner, you were adamant about just enjoying good company and good food.
It almost felt homey, considering the people in the table. Keyword: almost.
“So, how’s school been?” Uncle Masaru asked, a rather innocuous question directed towards the teenagers.
Izuku replies first, helping himself to another serving. “Fine, Uncle! Well, not much has changed since Kacchan has me beat in ranks.”
“Hm? What is your rank?” you asked, curious.
“Third,” Bakugou replies quickly, you blink at him just as he swallowed his meal. Pointing to Izuku with his thumb, he says, “Fourth.”
You feel your lower eye twitch, your question wasn’t really directed towards him but was rather open to either of them to answer, so you left it at that.
“Heh, that’s impressive, Izuku!” Whatever tension brewed, immediately squashed down. This was not the time for that. “Well, you’ve always been smart anyway.”
“How about (Name)?” Auntie Inko chirped, smiling.
“She’s not so bad,” your grandfather replied, sipping his tea. “she’s one of my best warriors in the martial arts club!” he says with so much pride it was practically emanating off him.
You felt your eye twitch, giving your grandfather an exasperated look. His answer was so far off.
“If you would just let me answer!” the adults laughed, Izuku included, holding onto your shirt sleeve to prevent you from attacking your grandfather. “I’m doing fine, actually. Other than my clean reputation," you emphasize for Izuku "‘s not so bad. It’s not UA, but it’s comfortable. Made some friends here and there.“
“What’s your rank?” Bakugou asked, curious.
Fixing him a look, you reminded yourself of where you were, replying politely. “Tenth, out of twenty-eight.”
“Wow, that’s impressive, (Nickname)!” Izuku smiled at you, genuinely. Smiling back at him, you took a bite of your meal, chewing slowly as you lull yourself into the comforting dinner noises.
The tension between the two young adults were not amiss to a certain ash blonde, shooting your grandfather a quick look, then to her husband, a glint of mischief.
“So, (Name)-chan, got yourself a boyfriend yet?” Auntie Mitsuki asks, rather bluntly.
Your eyes shot wide open, doubling over.
Bakugou nearly choked on his meal, Uncle Masaru quick to pat his son’s back gently.
“M-Mitsuki!”
Your grandfather snorted, turning the other way, holding his laughter in.
“What? I’m just asking! Ah, Shihan, you don’t mind, do you?”
Recovering, your grandfather gives a sage shake of his head, unnervingly at ease at the question thrown at you. Izuku eats away, but keeping an interesting ear – traitors, you thought.
“E-Eh, no.”
“What!? That’s too bad.” Auntie Mistuki practically yells, looking offended, too.
“I agree!” Auntie Inko seconds. “(Name)-chan grew up to be such a pretty girl, any boy or girl would be foolish enough to miss out on you!”
“Also, she’s really good in martial arts!” your grandfather adds, pride written all over his face. “Only a fool would miss out on my granddaughter!”
More like fear me, you fool of a man.
“Why is the conversation suddenly all about me,” you mutter uncomfortably, chewing your dinner. Izuku shrugs, working on a small smile.
“So, no boyfriend then, (Name)-chan?” Uncle Masaru, master of keeping the peace, asked.
You could only shrug. “No.”
It was an honest answer, enough to quell anyone’s curiosity, but it seemed like the wrong answer to Auntie Mitsuki and your grandfather, whose shoulders dropped in disappointment. Uncle Masaru frowned at the two, shaking his head. Auntie Inko blinked innocently, unaware of the ploy of the two.
Only Bakugou Katsuki caught on, jaw clenching, one hand balled into fists under the table while you and Izuku began to chat amongst yourselves.
A white envelope was squeezed into your shoe locker one morning, a bag of chocolates – very clearly bought at the convenience store, was taped next to it, much to your confusion.
Dull (e/c) eyes stared at the items, trying to make out the items before you. Beside you, Izuku followed your gaze, a startled look on his freckled face as red soon blossomed his cheeks. “(N-Nickame)!!!!”
From his high-pitched shriek, a few girls turned your way in interest, whispering amongst themselves. Other students, who just walked in, eyed your shoe locker curiously.
You stared at it harder, not moving from your spot, arms crossed over your chest. Behind you, a small crowd had gathered - not really lingering long, but curious on your situation.
“Oh, someone actually has the guts to give one to her?”
“Well, Yoruichi’s actually not that bad looking.”
“For a quirkless.”
“Well, at least she compensates elsewhere.”
Izuku, patiently waiting on you, leaned in to whisper, amidst the chattering behind you, to you. “I-I-It might be confession letter?”
“HAH!?”
A loud explosion sounded, scaring half the middle schoolers entering the building, followed by a voice behind you. “THE FUCK!?”
“A-Ah, Ka-Kacchan! Good morning!”
“Fucking nerd, get outta my way!” yelled the blond, taking your cue to roll your eyes and rip the chocolates from your shoe locker, assessing the brand with interest, unaware of carmine eyes watching you.
“(Nickname)?” Izuku turns to you in question.
Lips pursued, you nonchalantly pocket the chocolates in your bag, taking a bite out of one of them. “Chocolate is chocolate, right?”
His freckled face only burns a darker shade of red as you put your shoes on, laughing at him.
“Izuku, you’re so cute.”
With the letter in hand, you eyed the words carefully, making sure it wasn’t a mistake: ‘To: Yoruichi (Name) of 2A’.
“Throw that piece of trash away,” mutters the blond beside you, but you pretend not to hear him and pocket the letter as well. You didn’t see the look of shock cross his face, as you turned to Izuku, forcing chocolate into his mouth, laughing more as you two head off to your classroom, nor the smoke coming out of his hand.
The rest of the day, Bakugou was in a foul mood, especially when you munched on the chocolates or gave some to Izuku (he tried to reject them because they were for you and not him).
In the end, it was a confession from a lowerclassmen which you turned down politely.
After dinner, you had volunteered to do the dishes, knowing that Izuku would join in and the other guy would go off to do whatever he does. However, since receiving his quirk, your grandfather had been interested in seeing Izuku use them in action. And with his quick muscle build-up, he was even more piqued to discover what interesting skills he's developed. Thus, your best friend was stolen away from you, leaving you to work on the dishes with…him.
Just as your grandfather has stolen Izuku away, Auntie Mitsuki yelled at Bakugou to help you with the dishes instead of shutting in his room doing god knows what.
So, two teens stood there, by the kitchen sink, a respectable distance between them, while Uncle Masaru placed the dishes, smiling apologetically. Somewhere, Auntie Mitsuki was eyeing the kitchen with a satisfied smirk whilst Auntie Inko was left in the dark.
Truthfully, you enjoyed washing the dishes, in a way, it was therapeutic alone or with a friend. Just, not with someone like him.
Then again, you had no choice. You did volunteer.
Resigned, you sighed and began to bunch your hair into a bun, getting to it. “I’ll wash, you rinse.”
Wordlessly, he nodded, and silence filled in once more.
And with that, the two of you were off to work, strictly work.
The only sounds heard were the gushing of water, scrubbing on plates, and utensils. As the night when on your heightened senses ran wild: with your hearing, you could hear the quiet chattering amongst adults in the living room, Auntie Mitsuki and Uncle Masaru inquiring about Uncle Hisashi from Auntie Inko, and outside, just faintly, you could hear Izuku floundering on the spot as your grandfather worked with him. It was enough to bring a smile to your face, only to stop when you remember the person beside you.
It was hard not to feel unbothered when you could feel his eyes on you, smell burnt sugar off him mixing with lemon dishwashing soap and hear the beating of his heart.
Soapy bubbles slowly began to fizzle one by one as you began to take the plates from the water, passing them along to Bakugou to be rinsed.
All in all, you managed to do the dishes without any bloodshed – which just seems to be the case whenever the two of you were together. However, during dinner, it was non-existent. It was probably out of courtesy, respect towards the elders who wanted to catch up. Then there were the young ones, two of three were doing the talking but only to themselves, singling the superior one out. Throughout dinner, he was the odd one out, which was strange since he's always been showered with attention - as though it was supposed to be. But no, nobody really talked to him unless asked or when curious, mostly his answers were minimal.
“I-I told Kacchan as well…”
For some reason, your mind made you think of that. When Izuku told you his secret, you felt honored, trusted, assured.
"But he didn’t seem to take it seriously.”
But the fact he told him, that unnerved you. After all, why? He didn’t deserve a piece of Izuku he willingly tossed aside so many years ago. Izuku still held on to Bakugou for so many years despite the bullying, it irked you. You were enough, so why cling on to him?
“Your summer camp…” you tested, words slurring.
Beside you, the ash blond physically flinched, surprised that you were talking to him.
Hey, it wouldn’t hurt to talk, right? Because, like Izuku, there was some reason you still clung on to him. “How long is it?” Well, a tiny part at least.
A beat of silence. “A week.”
You hummed, watching the soapy water go down the drain. “That’s a long time.”
Call it friendship, or a sense of duty, but there was more to it. Delving deep to wonder what exactly was scared you though, so you left it at that.
When the last of the bubbles disappeared, you lifted your gaze out the kitchen window eyes searching above rooftops for the moon. Tonight’s shape was a waxing crescent, your favorite moon phase because if you tilted your head, it would’ve resembled a Cheshire grin.
Fixated on the moon, you were unaware of the way his eyes lingered on your shirt, identical to the one Izuku was wearing, his insides unsettling. Carmine eyes silently took in your form, mouth formed into a straight line, eyes shifting from (e/c) to yellow, glazed with a thousand thoughts he was barred from asking.
“They’ll probably give you hell over there,” your voice was airy, vague, comforting, testing again.
He felt his hand twitch, especially nothing that a loose strand of hair fell against the nape of your neck, over your burnt mark. He wanted to move the (h/c) strand away, to feel his fingers against your skin, marvel over something that was his doing, in a sick way – relish his mark over you.
Turning to him, you offer a small smile. “Well, have fun over there.”
And with that, you pushed yourself off the sink and walked out the kitchen.
(His hand dropped to his side, weakly, defeatedly.)
BREAKING NEWS: The League of Villains infiltrated UA's Summer Camp, several students injured, one kidnapped!
The door slid open, forcibly, everyone flinched at that, and of the person stomping in. “I-ZU-KU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” the green-haired boy flinched at the volume of your voice, each syllable of his name pronounced angrily, a menacing aura emanating off you. “ARE YOU SERIOUSLY PLANNING TO GIVE ME AND AUNTIE INKO A HEART ATTACK!?”
Green eyes widened, arms weakly making pathetic gestures in the wind. “(N-Nickname)…l-let me explain-“
Approaching his bed, your aura didn't let up. “One of these days Midoriya Izuku,” pointing at him dangerously, finger shaking in front of him. “ONE OF THESE DAYS!”
“Now, now, (Name)-chan, we’re at a hospital…” Auntie Inko calls out as she rushes in, gentle hands trying to calm you down.
“Granddaughter have some manners!” your grandfather chides, a basket full of apples in hand. “This is a hospital, y’know-“Realizing that they weren’t alone, the elder man blinks at the people crowding his room. “Ah, he has guests.”
That made you stop, stopping in your shaking of your best friend, head snapping to several eyes looking your way, they tremble under your gaze.
“W-We’ll just leave then…” Ochako states, bravely, Iida leading the group out, offering you a friendly smile on her way out. For some reason, there was more to that smile, a coded message. But you’ll get to that later.
After giving your best friend a piece of your mind, it was Auntie Inko’s turn. Well, her version was more on crying, wailing, and fussing – very Auntie Inko. Your grandfather merely huffed, arms crossed, unimpressed with Izuku’s recklessness. Nonetheless, he ruffled your best friend’s curly locks, offering his rare smiles.
“I’m glad you’re safe, Izuku-kun.”
“Y-Yes, Shihan!”
Despite seeing your best friend safe and sound, something unsettled in the pit of your stomach, had you unnerved to the bone. You weren't his best friend for nothing if you hadn't noticed it. Seeing as your grandfather and Auntie Inko were here, you knew you couldn’t ask him about it just yet.
Once the two of you were finally left together, you turned to him, eyes asking with the same mien Ochako gave off earlier. Izuku seemed to anticipate this, a look of guilt and unease colored his features.
Taking a deep breath, he began to talk.
Words were coming out, sentences forming, information settling in your brain, processing.
And then, you could only feel one thing: numb.
Numb, just like the time a punch caught you off guard.
Numb, just like when he said those venomous words at Izuku in junior high school.
Numb, just like when you lost your parents.
Just. Numb.
Tears welled in your eyes, dripping down your cheeks before you could stop yourself. They won’t stop pouring, your heart pounding wildly in your chest, your breathing was going abnormal. Shaky knees almost knocked you out, had Izuku not grabbed a hold of your arm. Coming to, you grabbed at his shirt, desperate, worry, anger. “Y-You’re going to get him back, right?” he stopped, glossy eyes meeting your own. “Y-You will…r-right?!” your voice cracked at that, fingers shaking uncontrollably.
One nod, firm, solute, and final. “I will, (Nickname). I’ll bring him back.”
Your fists tightened, head bowing, forehead pressing into his chest, tears coming faster. “Please, Izuku, bring him back. Bring back our, Katsuki!”
Guess what? You thought about it, plaguing your mind for days later.
The result? Well, it feels stupid. YOU feel stupid for a silly little crush over a short-tempered childhood friend, who forever sullied his reputation and severed ties with you.
Simple as that.
Congrats, you won a bucket load of denial slathered with angst.
Why, oh, why couldn’t you have fallen for Izuku, instead? Sweet, kind, and reliable Izuku. Life would have been so much easier and saner.
But as that one stupid song goes: the heart wants what it wants.
Why the fuck did it want him? Bakugou Katsuki?
The cons weighed so much than the pros, you could go on and on. But at the end of the way, the pros could still weigh over those cons, no matter how little you presented.
It’s fine, you thought, this’ll pass.
A stupid little crush like this will pass and you’ll find yourself laughing at it when you’re older, sober, and probably mature.
Your only hope was to distance yourself from him, which worked for a time since he goes to UA and has resided there since his kidnapping/All Might’s retirement.
Yet, you live in the same area.
Your only REAL hope was for him to graduate, get into hero work that’ll make him work hundreds of miles away, OR, you graduating, getting into university and moving away from town. Both possibilities worked. There was more.
However, Izuku thought otherwise.
“You’re being a coward, (Nickname). You’re basically running away.” He’d berate, a disapproving look on his face.
Ducking, you played with the ends of your hair. “Isnt it better this way?” You muttered, looking away, not wanting to be at the receiving end of his look. You hated that look, it reminded you of your mom, dad, Shihan, and Aizawa-san – it made you feel like a child.
“It’s not fair to Kacchan.” you deadpanned with a roll of your eyes.
“Well, he was never fair with us anyway. Call it even.”
Izuku sighed heavily. “(Nickname)...”
Turning to him, you asked, a bit miffed. “Why are you defending him? How can you forgive him so easily?!”
“Well, it’s never good to dwell in the past…” His words, you never trusted them whenever the blond became the topic of your conversations – which is minimal, by the way. There was something he wasn’t telling you completely, something he had to figure out for himself first.
And you were patient, so you left him at that. “We’re becoming civil now. You two, should as well!”
“BIG. PASS.”
He gave a weary sigh, from the weight of your words.
Honestly, you couldn’t sleep the night you received news that their summer camp had been invaded by the League of Villains. You were worried sick for both of them. You wanted them to be safe. And since Bakugou was kidnapped-
“(Nickname), you should be more honest with your feelings. Especially towards Kacchan.”
Of course, he’d see right through you, he was your best friend with a brain so great after all.
“Pass.”
“(N-Nickname)…”
“I want nothing to do with that dead fuck, after everything he’s done to us, to you.”
“I’ve already forgiven him for that.”
“Good for you then.”
“(Nickname),” his tone was berating, again.
Sighing, aggravatingly, you beg with your eyes. “Don’t do this, Izuku. Please.”
“But, you’ve always liked him-“
“THAT WAS BEFOR-!” you stopped mid-yell, balled fists shaking, taking a deep breath, you repeated your words. “That was before.”
Izuku had the gall to look unconvinced, arms crossed, eyes narrowed, head tilted at you – since when did he learn to be this snarky!?
Exhaling through your nose, you stood your ground. “I’m not sorry for yelling. I’m not planning to forgive him now, or any time soon, I can never forgive him for what he did. And I’m sorry I can’t be as forgiving as you.”
Green eyes softened, his pose unchanging, but he fixed his head to look at you better. Worry coloured his features. “But (Nickname), it isn’t good to hold on to your anger forever, you know that, right?” Somewhere deep in your heart, you swore you felt a skip, your knuckles suddenly felt hot. “I’m not saying that you should forgive him now, but at your own pace. You can deny how you feel, but you can never escape it forever, (Nickname).”
Weakly looking up to him, his green eyes were unwavering, swallowing you whole.
“I hate when you’re right.”
“I always am.” The corners of his lips lift, a bit smug.
Your eyes narrow. “I hate you.”
“I love you, too, (Nickname).”
From: (Name) Yuroichi
To: Bakugou Katsuki
I’m glad you’re safe.
