You want to write creepy Mahiru? I shall enable you ^_^
Hehe thank you for all your enabling 😌✨This was super fun to think about – I started off with normal-au thoughts of her courting behaviours being thrown under suspicious lighting (I don’t think she’s a stalker at all, but paired with the right character, her attention/involvement in their life can definitely come off as creepy). But I ended up going with a little scene between her and Yuno! They’re not officially a ship, but there is something budding between them when this takes place.
If Yuno knew that cooking dinner would have ended like this, she never would have agreed to Mahiru’s request for help. But how could she have known? Mahiru put on the roundest, most pleading eyes to match the lilting in her voice. She appeared genuinely in need and excited to teach Yuno this new recipe as promised. It was impossible to guess that such a sweet smile could ever have her cornered, knife in hand.
Yuno didn’t notice anything amiss when they started. Mahiru was overbearing with her instructions – chatting nonstop taking a very physical approach with her demonstrations – but that wasn’t anything new. In fact, the way her arms unnecessarily pressed against Yuno’s, guiding her to cut the vegetables under the pleasantly dim kitchen lights, was the very appeal of cooking together.
It was only when she pulled away, busying her hands with a precarious stack of pots and pans on the counter, that Yuno noticed something plaguing her.
“Is something on your mind?”
“O-oh! Well, I don’t want to be a bother.”
“I asked you! What’s up?”
Mahiru’s expression, which was reflected in a dozen funhouse mirror shapes from the tower of dishes, shifted. It was watchful, aware it was watched, but unable to be watched itself. It didn’t matter that Mahiru wore her heart on her sleeve, she knew better than to broadcast her more impolite thoughts on her face. It would have been an admirable trait if Yuno wasn’t so lost trying to read her.
“Do you… do you still love me?”
The question was sudden, but not the first of its kind. Yuno smiled. “Of course I do!”
“Oh, really?” She pouted her lip. “Then… why did you spend the night in Fuuta’s cell last week?”
“Eh? I told you that day at breakfast, I forgot the guilty cells lock, and I just got stuck after staying too long.” Her smile wavered with Mahiru’s uncharacteristic lack of one. “What does that have to do with anything?”
Her voice remained sullen. “I can understand if you didn’t want to be vulgar in front of the younger ones. You can tell me the truth.”
“That is the truth.”
Mahiru turned away from the dishes. Her brown eyes, which usually spilled with warmth, now pleaded with a superheated focus.
“You won’t even come to stay with me in my cell, you keep saying it’s too soon – but you’ll spend all night with him? Is it something I did wrong? What is it? What did I do wrong?”
Caught up in the sudden panic, she surged forward to grab Yuno’s hands. With her gaze entirely distracted, she didn’t notice her apron get caught on one of the dishes until it yanked it from its place.
The motion brought down the whole tower – Yuno flinched at the grating sound of everything clattering to the ground. Mahiru wasn’t rattled in the slightest. She even smiled, a little ‘how silly of me’ expression that didn’t suit the massive mess at her feet. She released her hands and bent to clean up the dishes.
“Aw, come on.” Yuno muttered to herself, hoping to change the subject. “Are none of those lazybones coming to help?”
“Ah, sound doesn’t travel well from here. We could yell and scream in here and nobody would hear a thing!” Mahiru giggled.
Yuno found it difficult to join in her enthusiasm.
They moved on to the next step of the recipe in silence. Mahiru took out the meat to slice. Yuno put a few things in the pan on the stove and moved to the corner pantry to gather some of the final seasonings. She squinted at the labels in the dull lighting.
From behind her, Mahiru’s voice came out hushed.
“You know… I really hate cheaters.”
Yuno swallowed hard. “I know.” She decided to stay an extra moment by the shelves; no need to approach the woman who was currently choosing out a large knife. “Which is why I swear, nothing happened.”
“You think I’m stupid. I may not be very smart, but I’m not as airheaded as everybody thinks…”
“I don’t think that.”
“You do!”
Yuno spun around, expecting to see a rage paired with the sudden outcry. Instead, Mahiru had a desperate smile stretched across her lips. She stepped forward, blocking Yuno’s path. “But I can fix that! I can fix all of this!”
Maybe staying in the pantry hadn’t been a good idea.
“That’s what love is! I’ll make everything perfect, and you’ll never want to leave again~” She may have forgotten she still clutched the intimidating knife in her hand, but Yuno couldn’t think of anything else.
“I didn’t leave.” She was careful to keep her voice steady. However, she made the mistake of stepping back against the shelves.
Mahiru’s eyes darted around her, taking in every bit of body language. “You hate me. Oh, you hate me…” Her smile wobbled, tears rising to her eyes so that her expressions looked like they were fighting amongst themselves. “That’s okay! I can fix it… That’s right… Love can fix everything…”
Yuno’s breath caught in her throat as Mahiru lunged forward.
The fact that she wrapped her in an embrace didn’t quell the adrenaline charging through her – the cool, solid metal of the blade was unmistakable through the material on the back of her uniform. Mahiru’s voice shook, whispering in Yuno’s ear.
“Do you trust me…?”
Yuno’s mouth was too dry to answer. Her head spun. It felt like an eternity of waiting, anticipating whatever it was she would decide to do next, but it was likely only a few seconds before Mahiru gave a loud exhale, her tone dropping to something more casual.
“No, no, don’t answer that. It doesn’t matter.” She pulled back, her smile less forced. Tears now streaked her cheeks. “What matters is I trust you. That’s the important part of a relationship. I’m sorry for ever doubting you.”
“I-I…”
“I know. I know! Mahiru never should have doubted you!” She wiped the tears from her cheek with one hand, though it was the other that distracted Yuno. “Thank you~!”
Still at a loss for words, Yuno was grateful when the pan on the stove started to sizzle. Mahiru spun around, rushing over to stir it. “Oh! Can you cut that while I stir this?”
“Yeah.”
“Thank you for this talk, Yuno-chan.”
“Of course.” She picked up the knife where it had been placed gently down. She willed her hands to steady as she arranged the cutting board.
“I love you~”
“I love you too.”

Soukoku is not about dazai. It’s about chuuya, how it affects chuuya, how dazai is chuuya’s abuser (wrong) but still ship it anyways because you all want to be quirky. How sad stormbringer is (wrong) so how sad chuuya’s life is, it’s not about dazai or his traumas. Dazai is a blank slate for self projecting and constantly mischaracterized and demeaned. Soukoku is only for chuuya and only shipped by his fans. There’s no dazai stan except me. Skk isn’t a place for people (me) who like dazai. It never was and never will be.
that’s where you’re wrong. dazai is my favorite character and his dynamic with chuuya has quite literally made him want to live. as someone who is alienated from emotion and consequentially feels inhuman, chuuya—being so bright and fearless and passionate—made someone as suicidal as dazai feel alive. chuuya continued, along with oda, to be the only person in the mafia who saw through dazai’s violent and cruel exterior and capable of humanity. someone who was unwavering in his resolve and knew dazai to be more than just the heartless killer of a mafioso, more than an analytical brain, but a kid. he was just a kid to chuuya.
and that’s why soukoku works so well. dazai and chuuya continue to advocate for each others humanity and are unflinching and undoubtful about it. never once have they faltered or lost sight of the other’s personhood. and that’s the beauty of their dynamic.

To be a good provider means being able to see someone for who they truly are and, accordingly, provide for them in a way that supports their authentic self. Someone may be a provider, but they can be unconscious of how to truly see you. When a provider is unaware of what makes you you, they will provide in ways that are neither nourishing nor fulfilling. On the other hand, if someone provides consciously, they will see you and be able to support your true being, your mission, and your destiny.
If we want to find and attract providers of this kind, I believe we first need to work on knowing who we truly are. We cannot find conscious providers if we don’t know what we want, need, and desire for ourselves. We need to see, recognize, and connect with our higher self.
Providers can be friends, associates, parents, significant others, business partners, and other types of relationships or connections. It can also be you.
If you want good providers, be a good provider for your true self first. When you know your authentic self, you are more aware of how others are providing for you and how you are receiving from them.
Being in your receptive energy means being aware and conscious of the energy that someone gives to you. I also believe that when you are conscious of how you receive, you will be able to discern what is given to you in a conscious way.
Being a conscious provider is an intention—an intention to give in ways that help someone grow, flourish, and align with their true self and power.
Consciously receiving means embodying your authenticity and higher self so that you can believe, allow, trust, and have faith that you will accept only what you truly deserve from your providers.
If you are someone who didn’t receive from provider figures in terms of quality of your true self, it can create mistrust and disbelief around receiving (and around what you are not receiving) from others and potential future providers. It can also create feelings of undeservingness, blockages around being your true self, and confusion about seeing and recognizing who you really are, which can lead to a loss of the self. ~ @feminiel

I'm sooo interested in Riker's comments at the end of Schisms (6x05) re: the invasive and violent operations being proof that this group of aliens was, and he says this in a harsh and resentful tone - "more than curious." Because whoa, what a line to end this episode on!!! Obviously completely fair but also what a pointed reflection on contemporary scientific practices and mindset?
Human methods of scientific study (although I recognize we are several centuries behind tng) have been are brutal and cruel. Even if we ignore (which is a bold choice) the dehumanization we weaponize to perform procedures, testing, and experiments that are eugenic in nature on actual human beings, we are also horrid to creatures and things we do not view as having a worthwhile life or consciousness.
Like... scientific studies are notoriously cruel to jellyfish. Which I know may be a weird hill to die on but I will die on it. (sidenote: it's not actually a weird hill because we should treat every thing better regardless of internal structures and consciousness.) A short and simplified jellyfish brief, if you don't know, when jellyfish die their bodies age backwards and sink to the seafloor; growing into a polyp which will sprout numerous more jellies. This earned them a bit of a reputation for being immortal even though that's not really what's happening. In reality when they endure an intense enough amount of trauma to disrupt their body or its functions they regress, sink, and start the life cycle anew. As a result the methods by which we study jellyfish are violent.
“Scientists who study the regeneration of the immortal jellyfish know this well, and have developed a roster of abuses to “induce rejuvenation,” as one study calls it. One standard method of traumatizing the jellyfish is to place the creature in a solution of cesium chloride, a colorless salt. An alternative, called the needle treatment, asks you to pierce the gooey umbrella with a stainless-steel needle. Some scientists drag the needle through the creature’s body in a scribble, removing the needle as burst cells coagulate like cumulus. Others stab repeatedly, up to fifty times per jellyfish. You can also heat shock the jellyfish, raising the temperature of the surrounding water to nearly 100 degrees. Or you can simply starve it. If you do not give the jellyfish more than it can handle, it will not begin to regrow. If there is not enough cesium chloride in the petri dish, if there are not enough needles or there is too little heat, the jellyfish will remain adult, alive. So you have to ensure there is enough stress, enough trauma." (chapter: Us Everlasting, How Far The Light Reaches, Sabrina Imbler, 2022)
Our methods of research almost always emphasize getting information as quickly as possible; explaining away our egregious violations of autonomy as necessary. Something about that has always felt really cruel to me and its part of the reason I pivoted from the specific career in biology I had wanted. I know it's "just a jellyfish" but it's also not? They are an important part of an ecosystem and landscape that we have chosen to define as a nuisance. Targets of aggression and anger in the wild fishermen often choose to destroy their bodies unknowingly creating hundreds if not thousands more. Our violent actions against them manifest worse conditions for ourselves and the ocean's ecosystem - it's a nauseating cycle.
I often end up thinking about jellyfish when I watch Star Trek: TNG. So many of the people flying through space "to explore strange new worlds" get so hung up on a being's experiences of consciousness if they don't explicitly mirror their own. I cannot get over everything that happens in Schism being such an interesting thought experiment on autonomy? Like the same episode where Data reads "Ode to Spot" and everyone sort of fails to recognize the beauty in his poetry, is also the episode where the crew is being kidnapped for experiments and reflecting on it, is also the same episode where Dr. Crusher (in a rare case!) doesn't do the extra tests right away and sends Riker home with hot milk before bed as a treatment, is also the episode where in the end Riker has resentment for being experimented on and the loss of a life... I just don't even know if they meant there to be this much thought about autonomy to be honest.
None of this is an in-universe criticism about the crew because I think having these kind of hiccups and topics in character development are interesting! I just think it's almost comical when the era a science-fiction show is written in rips through it's world building so hard it just sort of stares at you. Which is a great method of reflecting on our current times but it also a little funny in a show universe that claims to have moved past inequality when it's like, "ah yes but do you experience your emotions and consciousness like I, a human federation officer, no? then how do you know you even have them?!"

“Neurospicy” lends itself to those who are able to be viewed as “quirky” by society. By using it as a replacement for “neurodivergent,” you are alienating a large population of the people who fall under that category.

Key Differences Between AI and Human Communication: Mechanisms, Intent, and Understanding
The differences between the way an AI communicates and the way a human does are significant, encompassing various aspects such as the underlying mechanisms, intent, adaptability, and the nature of understanding. Here’s a breakdown of key differences:
1. Mechanism of Communication:
AI: AI communication is based on algorithms, data processing, and pattern recognition. AI generates responses by analyzing input data, applying pre-programmed rules, and utilizing machine learning models that have been trained on large datasets. The AI does not understand language in a human sense; instead, it predicts likely responses based on patterns in the data.
Humans: Human communication is deeply rooted in biological, cognitive, and social processes. Humans use language as a tool for expressing thoughts, emotions, intentions, and experiences. Human communication is inherently tied to understanding and meaning-making, involving both conscious and unconscious processes.
2. Intent and Purpose:
AI: AI lacks true intent or purpose. It responds to input based on programming and training data, without any underlying motivation or goal beyond fulfilling the tasks it has been designed for. AI does not have desires, beliefs, or personal experiences that inform its communication.
Humans: Human communication is driven by intent and purpose. People communicate to share ideas, express emotions, seek information, build relationships, and achieve specific goals. Human communication is often nuanced, influenced by context, and shaped by personal experiences and social dynamics.
3. Understanding and Meaning:
AI: AI processes language at a syntactic and statistical level. It can identify patterns, generate coherent responses, and even mimic certain aspects of human communication, but it does not truly understand the meaning of the words it uses. AI lacks consciousness, self-awareness, and the ability to grasp abstract concepts in the way humans do.
Humans: Humans understand language semantically and contextually. They interpret meaning based on personal experience, cultural background, emotional state, and the context of the conversation. Human communication involves deep understanding, empathy, and the ability to infer meaning beyond the literal words spoken.
4. Adaptability and Learning:
AI: AI can adapt its communication style based on data and feedback, but this adaptability is limited to the parameters set by its algorithms and the data it has been trained on. AI can learn from new data, but it does so without understanding the implications of that data in a broader context.
Humans: Humans are highly adaptable communicators. They can adjust their language, tone, and approach based on the situation, the audience, and the emotional dynamics of the interaction. Humans learn not just from direct feedback but also from social and cultural experiences, emotional cues, and abstract reasoning.
5. Creativity and Innovation:
AI: AI can generate creative outputs, such as writing poems or composing music, by recombining existing patterns in novel ways. However, this creativity is constrained by the data it has been trained on and lacks the originality that comes from human creativity, which is often driven by personal experience, intuition, and a desire for expression.
Humans: Human creativity in communication is driven by a complex interplay of emotions, experiences, imagination, and intent. Humans can innovate in language, create new metaphors, and use language to express unique personal and cultural identities. Human creativity is often spontaneous and deeply tied to individual and collective experiences.
6. Emotional Engagement:
AI: AI can simulate emotional engagement by recognizing and responding to emotional cues in language, but it does not experience emotions. Its responses are based on patterns learned from data, without any true emotional understanding or empathy.
Humans: Human communication is inherently emotional. People express and respond to emotions in nuanced ways, using tone, body language, and context to convey feelings. Empathy, sympathy, and emotional intelligence play a crucial role in human communication, allowing for deep connections and understanding between individuals.
7. Contextual Sensitivity:
AI: AI's sensitivity to context is limited by its training data and algorithms. While it can take some context into account (like the previous messages in a conversation), it may struggle with complex or ambiguous situations, especially if they require a deep understanding of cultural, social, or personal nuances.
Humans: Humans are highly sensitive to context, using it to interpret meaning and guide their communication. They can understand subtext, read between the lines, and adjust their communication based on subtle cues like tone, body language, and shared history with the other person.
8. Ethical and Moral Considerations:
AI: AI lacks an inherent sense of ethics or morality. Its communication is governed by the data it has been trained on and the parameters set by its developers. Any ethical considerations in AI communication come from human-designed rules or guidelines, not from an intrinsic understanding of right or wrong.
Humans: Human communication is deeply influenced by ethical and moral considerations. People often weigh the potential impact of their words on others, considering issues like honesty, fairness, and respect. These considerations are shaped by individual values, cultural norms, and societal expectations.
The key differences between AI and human communication lie in the underlying mechanisms, the presence or absence of intent and understanding, and the role of emotions, creativity, and ethics. While AI can simulate certain aspects of human communication, it fundamentally operates in a different way, lacking the consciousness, experience, and meaning-making processes that characterize human interaction.

i’m definitely reading too much into this because of my scp foundation brainrot, but fuck the fact that reverse 1999’s main faction is called the (saint pavlov’s) foundation is driving me insane. the name even starts with the letters ‘s’ and ‘p’??? it’s just missing a ‘c’ and it could literally be abbreviated as “the scp foundation” it almost feels like it was specifically designed to cater to me
Tumblr media
also look at this logo on medicine pocket’s id badge. double circles. three points. three arrows. tell me it isn’t at least a little similar to the logo below. you could’ve told me it was some sort of variant on the scp foundation insignia and i would’ve EASILY believed you without question.
Tumblr media
i really don’t have a point to all this. i don’t think a single person who sees this will even know what the hell i’m talking about, i just really needed to get this out of my system.

— What if you're just using this as a chance to escape?
— Hmph, Jing Yuan trained you alright...
#Traces#Jingliu#Yanqing#Jing Yuan#Jing Yuan and Yanqing#Jingliu and Jing Yuan#I talk too much#I love everything this exchange says about the three of them ugh#He did! And no one would know better than her!#Blade recognises the traces of Jingliu in Yanqing when they fight. But Jingliu recognises Jing Yuan's#I love how telling both instances are. The intimacy in both recognitions‚ as well as the intimacy in both acts of passing on knowledge#Jingliu didn't teach Yanqing#Are we to believe he picked up that last move in the boss fight against Dan Heng and Blade from this moment with her?#idk perhaps that's the intention but I always thought it was Jing Yuan teaching him this last grand move#similar to what he used against Jingliu in that one short. It makes more sense to me and I find it moving#That the taught Yanqing so closely to her teachings that Blade could recognise her#And it's moving too that in one comment Jingliu sees in this wide eyed young boy the traces of Jing Yuan#I like too that she recognises Jing Yuan's way of thinking and machinations and Blade sees her swordmanship#The two traits at which they excel is what shows on Yanqing. Which I think is at the same time telling of Jing Yuan's way of teaching#(if we take Yanqing didn't learn the move from Jingliu)#Ugh I got carried away again. But I love this topic I'm never able to help myself#I'm going to have to change the tag's order though#Anyway... It's also moving and heartbreaking and reflects a lot of intimacy the fact that Jingliu knows Blade's capabilities so well#that she is sure Yanqing isn't a match for him‚ and we see her being right during their fight (both their fights)#Blade also doesn't flinch. He laughs and smiles as if having a good time‚ as Jingliu herself said she did during this mission#It's very different to the distressed angry frightful face we see him sport in his confrontation with Jingliu in the last trailer#'Even with your strength‚ if you were to cross paths with Blade‚ it would mean death for you'‚ she tells Yanqing. And she's right#Also this puts into perspective a bit why Jing Yuan doesn't think of himself a good swordsman#Jingliu perhaps talks as if Blade were better. Jing Yuan is aware he isn't a natural at all and Jingliu states this as well#But for Yanqing Jing Yuan is the best. That all gives us a lot of information. This is very juicy to analyse but I've run out of tags xD
