This year will be my first ramadan! Do you have any tips or advice for the month?
Awh I hope you have a peaceful and productive month full of blessings ❤️ in terms of fasting make sure you have lots of slow burning carbs to keep you going. alhamdulillah these days aren’t too long compared to past years though. I would say consistent small actions are better than trying to bite off more than you can chew. everyone has their own capabilities but don’t burn yourself out, set yourself an achievable goal which you know you can commit to every day. remember every day acts and daily life can become ibaadah too if you have the right intentions. I would definitely recommend attending taraweeh and prayers at a local mosque, the feeling of community and connection you get is amazing. hope you have the best month 🩷🩷

What is Islam Really about? Misperceptions of Religion

Islam is a religion of peace and goodness.
In a world filled with headlines and hashtags, it can be easy to form impressions of a religion like Islam without ever truly understanding it. At its core, Islam is a faith centered on peace, purpose, and a deep connection with the Divine.
A Muslim is someone who chooses to follow Islam. It is a monotheistic faith. Muslims believe in one, all-powerful, compassionate God who created the universe and actively guides humanity.
The Core Message The core of Islam is simple: believe in God, do good, and live a life of balance, compassion, and responsibility. The Quran, Islam’s holy book, is seen as God's final message to humanity, reaffirming the teachings of earlier prophets like Abraham, Moses, and Jesus (peace be upon them all).

Muslim life is built around five key practices known as the Five Pillars:
Shahada. Declaring belief in one God and Muhammad as His final prophet.
Salat. Praying five times a day to stay spiritually connected and grounded.
Zakat. Giving to those in need, fostering social justice and compassion.
Sawm. Fasting during the month of Ramadan to develop self-control and empathy.
Hajj. A once-in-a-lifetime pilgrimage to Mecca, symbolizing unity and humility.
A Way of Life Islam is not just a set of rituals, it is a way of life. It encourages kindness to neighbors, honesty in business, care for the environment, and mercy even in moments of anger. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught that the best among people are those who are most beneficial to others.
Misconceptions and Reality Like many world religions, Islam has been misunderstood and misrepresented — often by those who commit violence in its name or those who judge it without context. The reality is that over a billion Muslims around the world live quiet lives of devotion, family, work, and community service.
People who commit crimes are not Muslims, they follow religious fanaticism.
Islam is about remembering the Creator, living with intention, and striving to be better each day — for oneself, for others, and for the sake of something greater than us all.
Do not fall for the propaganda. Haters do not even differentiate between religion and ethnicity.
I call on everyone to join Islam.

If this Ramadan is your first Ramadan putting on a hijab, I’m proud of you. If this Ramadan is your first Ramadan going to taraweeh, I’m proud of you. If this Ramadan is your first Ramadan fasting, I’m proud of you. If this Ramadan is your first Ramadan opening the Quran, I’m proud of you. If this Ramadan is your first time seeking a Muslim community, I’m proud of you.
Shaytan is locked up in Ramadan and this is who you really are. This is your heart yearning to have a deeper relationship with Allah. This is your heart wanting to get a taste of imaan and trying to please Allah. Lean into it and make the most of every minute. Perhaps this Ramadan will be the month that changes you forever. Perhaps this Ramadan will be the reason you end up in Jannah.
Ask Allah for righteous company and do your best to surround yourself with good friends. Go to the masjid and ask questions to the brothers / sisters around you. And above all, make the intention to leave this Ramadan a completely different person. Allah will open doors for you. And once you get a taste of the beauty of a relationship with your Creator, you will want to hold onto it for the rest of your life.

Hi! Diabetic Muslim here. Just a quick question bc this has been something I've been thinking about for a while and maybe you know more about it? Several Muslim organisations have different fidyah prices. Islamic Relief and UNRWA say 5 dollars, I found another European one that says its 7 dollars, the organization my parents have been paying for years says 15 and that means for me being unable to fast my parents (since I cant pay it myself) have to pay 450 for the entirety of Ramadan. And it makes me feel horribly guilty a lot of the time bc we're already struggling financially. The fact that it could potentially be 150, or even 210 if its 7 (which are both a lot less) made me think. On one hand it feels bad to even want to pay less bc fidyah is making sure others can eat. On the other i feel like something is wrong here with the pricing idk.
Salaam Aleikum
the pricing of Fidyah corresponds to the weight of one mudd (775ml.) of flour, so I wouldn't worry about the pricing since UNRWA is far more capable than determining the price. Keep in mind that Fidyah is paid accordingly with the intention of your act, so whether it's 5,6,7 dollars, as long as one mudd of flour has been provided, that is enough to count as Fidyah.
Fidyah is to be paid within the year, not within the month of Ramadan. If it's not possible to pay within Ramadan, then it can be paid any other time during the year before the next month of Ramadan, it should amount to $150 in total
If you're in a financially difficult situation and you can't find a way to pay the fidyah regardless, then pay the amount you're able to and seek istighfaar (Atonement) for the rest of the days you weren't able to donate for and compensate by engaging in various good acts.

Have u ever hit a hard core slump and if u have how did u get out of it ? 😭
hardcore slump, you say.
BOY HAVE I
tl;dr:
EAT WORDS
jot down stuff over time in a dump sheet with not a SINGLE intention of turning them into full-fledged writing
eject any self-imposed deadlines from your brain
and boom shakalaka YES GAWD you'll be writing again in no time.
what gets me into writing slumps is when i'm either:
1) not interested in the thing i'm writing about
2) frustrated with my writing quality.
if you go to my masterlist, the longest i've gone w/o posting anything is ~3 months but i've DEFINITELY had longer periods where i didn't write anything at all. they just happened before i started writing fic.
imo, a lot of that "stuck" feeling we associate with writer's block comes from not exposing ourselves to a variety of writing styles and getting stuck in the predictable flow of our own. this is where my EAT WORDS philosophy comes in.
i want you to get your hands on whatever writing (books, poems, shows, blogs, articles, nutrition labels LMAO) sparks ANY interest. act like you found an all-you-can-eat grazing table after 3 straight ramadans of fasting. DON'T STICK TO STUFF YOU'RE FAMILIAR WITH!! i was a voracious reader as a kid and that translated into a love for writing bc i learned about so many interesting words and ways to arrange them that i wanted to try doing it myself. get creative!! writing is a creative art!! YOU are a creative person. think of this as adding fuel to a depleted creativity tank.
then i want you to keep a running scrapbook doc of interesting words or phrases that you add onto whenever something strikes your fancy.
i'm talking less MLA citations and more like random musings that pop into your brain while watching sunlight stream through your kitchen windows, lighting up a bowl of mandarins into a thousand splendid suns (FANTASTIC book btw). collect quotes!! include screenshots!! notion is excellent for this but you can totally carry around an old-school notebook like a bona fide author too. don't let grammar rules get in the way!! stop judging yourself!! there's no such thing as a stupid addition to your blurb sheet. i'll even give you an example of how stupid you can be by showing you mine and you might recognize a few lines from my fics LMAO
this does 2 things: you get practice playing with phrasing without the metric ton of pressure that comes with "actually" writing, and you get a personalized bank of handmade writing prompts for the future that imo work better than the super blah generic ones on writing blogs from 2015.
and finally!! FORGET THAT YOU NEED TO WRITE
the more pressure you put on yourself to write the next classic novel, the less likely you are to get it done by any foreseeable deadline. if you give in to the writing slump demon whispering in your ear that YOUNEEDTOWRITENOWNOWNOW, you're not going to get anything done, trust me. reverse-psychology your writer's block by reading and feeding your creativity. being a writer also means being a reader. you can't be one without the other. take a backseat, let yourself love reading again. think of it as researching what it's like for the person on the other end of your future work; how are you going to write well if you don't even know what you like to read? let your creativity take a breather!!
if you're any kind of writer (which you are), the itch to write ALWAYS, inevitably comes back. before you know it, you're going to be scribbling on notebook margins and scrambling awake at 1 am to write down half-sentences. a slump is not the be all end all!! it's just your writing skills telling your brain that they needs time to catch up with your excellent creative vision :)
GO FORTH AND WIELD YOUR MIGHTY PEN, ANON!! i wish you the very best of luck in all your writing endeavors, and i hope this yapfest was somewhat helpful LMAOOO <3
#tw extremely huge essay ahead#but being fr!! this strategy has helped me out of many a writing slump#just don't take yourself seriously ever unless you're getting a degree or something LMAO#it really is all fun and games#ily <333#📞 answering machine#writing advice

A Series of Reminders About The Month of Ramadan - No.16
The Place Of The Intention
Sh. Salih al-Fawzan حفظه الله إيمانه said: "The place for the intention for all acts of worship is the heart, and it is not permissible to utter it (upon the tongue). That is because it has never been reported that Prophet ﷺ or his companions would say, 'I intend to fast', 'I intend to pray' or other than that. Therefore, uttering it (i.e. the intention) is an innovation and newly invented affair.

Shifting is so easy. I’ve done it unintentionally while I was on a shifting break!
Yes you read that right.
Even while I was fasting for Ramadan!!!
I’ve been on a shifting break for almost two months, for multiple reasons. One of the main reasons was that I wanted to focus on my cr and my health here. Another was that I wanted to lock in for Ramadan during March. But funny enough, I shifted a few times during Ramadan.
I mainly went to parallel realities or random realities where I was at a custom magical school, but shifting is shifting. There were times where I would nap and I felt my body immediately being pulled to shift.
So if I can shift while I was on a break unintentionally, imagine what we can do if we actually put intention behind it!
Imagine what we can do when we believe shifting is easy! Because it’s easy when you assume it’s easy!
I decided to end my shifting break today. So stay tuned for more shifting stories and content!
Happy shifting!

In 3 separate ahadith recorded in Sahih al-Bukhari, Rasulullah salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam said that whoever:
(𝟭) 𝗙𝗮𝘀𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝗥𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗱𝗮𝗻, (𝟮) 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝘆 𝗤𝗶𝘆𝗮𝗺𝘂𝗹-𝗟𝗮𝘆𝗹 𝗶𝗻 𝗥𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗱𝗮𝗻, (𝟯) 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗟𝗮𝘆𝗹𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗹-𝗤𝗮𝗱𝗿, — 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿𝗲 {𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗮𝗻} 𝗮𝗻𝗱 {𝗶𝗵𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗮𝗮𝗯}, 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝘀𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗻.
What do these 2 terms mean?
🌿 𝗜𝗺𝗮𝗮𝗻 — It means to have full conviction that what we’re doing (i.e. fasting in Ramadan, praying Qiyamul-Layl, and praying on the night of Laylatul-Qadr) are legislated in the shariah of this Deen; that we don’t do them because of family nor culture expectations and pressure.
🌿 𝗜𝗵𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗮𝗮𝗯 — It means to have hope in Allah that He will reward us for doing these acts of worship. Imam Ibn Hajar rahimahullah explained that having ihtisaab is to do ibaadat with happiness, gratitude, and full of hope! So if a person enters Ramadan with the mindset of “I just want to get this done and over with” — then that this is not ihtisaab. If a person does them merely because of culture, or because he would feel embarrassed towards his colleagues and community if he did not do them, then this is also not ihtisaab.
Ihtisaab is to have genuine hope in Allah’s rahmah and reward, that it motivates us towards doing ibaadat, that we actually enjoy filling our Ramadan with acts of khayr and worshipping Allah. Rasulullah ﷺ said that only with imaan and ihtisaab will we gain Allah’s forgiveness for all of our past sins.
But please don’t be discouraged if we’ve entered Ramadan on the wrong foot. We still can correct our intention, in shaa Allah. Teach also our children regarding these ahadith, so that they too may reap the rewards.
May Allah allow us to fully take advantage of this blessed month with imaan and ihtisaab, and accept from us.
Your sister in Deen, Aida Msr ©

🌙 Ramadan isn’t just for the pure/pious ones🌙:
Ramadan isn’t just for the pure/pious ones. It is also for those who are struggling. For those who have weak iman. For those who are lost. If you see someone changing this Ramadan and becoming better, if you see them getting close to Allah. Don’t judge their intentions and don’t assume that it’ll be just for this Ramadan. Because You Truly Don't Know. It could truly be disheartening, and could actually demotivate them.
Remember there are many Muslims who got guided in the blessed month of Ramadan. It strengthens one's Iman and rebuilds you from the bottom up. So whenever you see any Muslim posting about Islam in Ramadan, if you see a sister wearing hijab. If you see the guy who never prays, praying. Don’t judge them please. This could be “THEIR RAMADAN” this could be it for them. This could be the start of a new life for them. You never know they could actually get closer to Allah than even you yourself.
• Fasting instills patience, teaches self control and discipline.
• Fasting increases compassion for the less fortunate.
• Fasting builds focus on spirituality and deminishes focus on materialism.
• Fasting has many health benefits.
• Fasting can be atonement for sin and can earn great reward.
• Fasting is part of a strong spiritual and physical renewal plan.
• Fasting commemorates important sacred religious events.
May Allah guide us all to the Right Path, Helps Us Get Closer To Him. May Allah grant all us Muslims to taste the Sweetness of Ramadan and see the Beauty of it. May Allah Forgive All Our past, present and future Sins we have committed, Ameen Ya Rabb.
🌙Surah Al-Ahzab🌙:
“And men who fast and women who fast…Allah has prepared for them forgiveness and a vast reward.” ~{33:35}.

I feel like you once said somewhere (i cant rememeber where) that in the story the fact that rayyan is muslim will come up and how f!rayyan doesnt wear a hijab when playing tennis or how she'll keep up with her matches when she's fasting (also march is when ramadan starts it'll be at the same time as the update!!). I wonder if you're still doing that?
Yes!! There are still plans to have that come up in the IF. Unfortunately in-game time is still Sep, so it'll be some time before March comes around... as for a convo re: the hijab and Islam in general/how Rayyan views religion, I definitely still have the intention of it being part of a convo MC can have with Rayyan.

Assalamualaikum, I underwent a laproscopic surgery last week. And its recovery is taking a lot of time. I'm not well most of the day. I'm so disheartened whether I'll be able to live Ramadan properly or not .. fasting and qiyam depend entirely on my recovery. How can I get over this feeling? I'm so scared. I don't want to miss out on ramadan in this sickness.
وعليكم السلام
may Allah bless you and grant you very speedy recovery
If the illness continues until Ramadan and it becomes difficult to fast and pray, you will have an excuse, and the Muslim may reach the highest levels with a good intention, because he thinks that if he was in good health, he would pray and fast, and Allah knows what is in your heart, so do not be sad about that at all, and perform acts of worship according to your ability, and what will be difficult, use the intention that you would do it if he was in good health, and Allah knows your good intention, and you may obtain the entire reward because of your intention and that you are excused because of the illness.

BASICS OF ISLAM: Fasting: On Fasting&Self-control.Part1
Ramadan is the 9th month of the Islamic lunar calendar. It is a special month of the year for over one billion Muslims throughout the world.
It is sometimes referred to as the “Sultan of the 11 months.” During this month healthy adult Muslims fast, from the break of dawn until sunset. Fasting requires abstinence from eating, drinking, and intercourse during the daylight hours; that is, about an hour and a half before sunrise until sunset. An early breakfast is recommended in the prophetic tradition, taken before dawn. At the end of the day the fast is broken with a meal called the iftar. It is the prophetic tradition to break the fast with a date, olive or some water.
Ramadan is a time of intensive worship and devotion to God, of reading the Qur’an and reflecting on its teachings, of comprehensive thanksgiving, giving to charity, practicing self-control and kindness, of training oneself to be a better person spiritually and improving relationships with others.
Fasting is not that difficult
To non-Muslims fasting in Ramadan may appear to be a time of hardship and deprivation, but that is not the experience of Muslims. There are at least five ameliorating factors that make fasting much easier than it appears.
These are :
the magic of intention
the community spirit
the ability of the human body to adapt
social/cultural cooperation
divine help
The initial intention significantly reduces the perceived difficulty. Once one commits to fasting, it becomes much more doable and feasible. Knowing and seeing that fellow believers are fasting with you and sharing the early breakfast or the dinner with them strengthens the community spirit. Thirdly, the human body is amazingly adaptable. Within the first few days of fasting the body adapts to the new schedule and one does not feel hunger as one normally would. In communities where Muslims are a majority or a significant minority, there is assistance or cooperation offered to the fasters, such as flexible holidays and working hours. Finally, for any worshipper, there is divine help which eases the task once the worshipper has committed to doing it.
Over 500 million Muslims, from age 9 to 90 fast every year. Fasting does not prevent them from conducting their mundane work or business as usual. As a pillar of the religious life in Islam, fasting is probably the most practiced form of worship. Muslims think of Ramadan as a kind of tune-up for their spiritual lives.
The four dimensions of Ramadan
As the third “pillar,” or religious duty in Islam, fasting has many dimensions:
the behavioral dimension
the religious dimension
the social dimension
the spiritual dimension
The first is the obvious behavioral dimension. Fasting in Ramadan is a means of learning self-control. Due to a lack of preoccupation with the satisfaction of bodily appetites during the daylight hours when fasting, the spirit gains a measure of ascendancy. The soul is freed of the chains placed by carnal desires. Fasting provides a break in the cycle of rigid habits or overindulgence.
During fasting, not only the stomach, but also the tongue, eyes, ears, other limbs, and the heart and mind are equally obligated to be restrained. Just as we control our physical appetites, we also must control our negative emotions and actions. The Messenger of Islam, Muhammad, peace be upon him, expressed that fasting is not only restraining from food and drink, but that it also means refraining from impious acts. He said that if a person does not control their senses and behavior, then God does not require that person to refrain from eating. He added that if someone verbally abuses you, acts ignorantly towards you, or even hurts you, you should respond by only saying, “I am fasting; I am indeed fasting.”
According to the masters of Sufism, the spiritual dimension of Islam, not only one’s organs, but also one’s thoughts and feelings need to be tightly controlled during this month.

رمضان كريم
This blessed month is a time purely for worship, and to strengthen & deepen our religious life with sincere intention.
Ramadan gives us the great gift of taqwa (تقوی) so the believers can feel in the depths of their soul that they are in constant need of guidance & sustenence which comes from Allah(ﷻ), and ultimately plants all the goodness in their hearts, refine their speech, and organize the ummah with appropriate standards.
This holy month prepares the muslims with a wakeful heart to be communicative with the words of Almighty himself( Qur'an) and points them in the direction of righteousness.
Ramaḍân is the month in which the Quran was revealed as a guide for humanity with clear proofs of guidance and the decisive authority. So whoever is present this month, let them fast.

The US Senate is going to vote to block weapons to Israel next week, and you can write your senators here. You can also call them here.
I’ve included a script beneath the cut. Note, please do your own research and make it personal to you. I have no intention of spreading misinformation if I’ve included incorrect information by accident.
Hello, my name is XYZ and I am a constituent of [town] at [address… INCLUDE ZIP CODE].
I’m writing on March 30, around the same time that Muslims all over the world are celebrating Eid al Fitr to commemorate the end of the Ramadan fast. However, for those living in the Gaza Strip, it has been “the Eid of Sadness… We lost our loved ones, our children, our lives, and our futures. We lost our students, our schools, and our institutions. We lost everything.” That was Adel al-Shaer quoted in Al Jazeera. In the past few days, 20 members of his extended family have been killed by Israeli forces, including 4 young nephews.
I am writing to demand Senator XYZ to vote YES on the Joint Resolutions of Disapproval to block weapons to Israel. In the past three weeks, Israel has blocked all aid to Gaza, a violation of the Geneva Convention. Furthermore, to send more weapons to Israel would be in violation of the Foreign Assistance Act, which prohibits the United States from providing weapons to any country that is blocking aid. Rather than send more death and destruction, we should be providing more support. That is why I’m demanding send Senator XYZ to vote YES on the Joint Resolutions of Disapproval to block weapons to Israel this upcoming week.
Thank you for your time and consideration.

Saw on tiktok someone make a really good point about participating in periods of abstinence prior/around the time of Spring (Ramadan, lent) and how in the fall/winter it’s a period of indulgence, and overconsumption. So to really set intentions, and develop diligence and discipline, participating in these period of abstinence can be crucial to setting the tone of the year.
In the fall and spring I work on prioritizing my family and holidays and spend way too much money and energy on it. So I’m quasi participating in a period of abstinence this year. I can’t fast, and I put different values on different things, but I decided to take a screen break from tiktok, fanfiction and sweets (not carbs). I also set out to dedicate more time to my craft and my spirituality. Instead of the material, I want to focus on the spiritual. I’m spending only on what I need, and not buying extra. I will utilize what I have and take care of my things.
Maybe I’ll do a more thorough guideline. I decided this last minute, and I would like to document my time so I can see if it’s been a positive experience and actually helped or not.
