Disadvantages of the Internet for Kids

In conclusion, while the internet is a valuable tool, parents and educators must be aware of the disadvantages of the internet for kids and take steps to ensure safe and balanced usage.

Just found the most disgusting thing ive ever seen on the internet

Just so you know, i have seen and especially read some very disturbing things before but i have never NEVER seen anything so vile, disgusting all the words

This thing im talking about is called the fluffy pony community - its just full of people who like to see fluffy ponies (not real ponies mlp fluffy ponies) get tortured and abused and its honestly the most vile thing i have seen

I have NEVER gotten this sick when i read/saw stuff that was supposed to make you feel uneasy like splatterpunk or movies like salo for example

When i tell you this stuff is genuinely vile i mean it

A video called “fluffy pony abuse - no miwkies” pooped up on my recommendation and it is it it is it makes me so shake my head

The contents of the video are disgusting enough but the general story is that there is a mother fluffy pony with 4 foals, one of them is very fat because the mother overfeeds it because its a sensitive crybaby. And this absolutely evil vile man takes these ponies in because theyre homeless and he tortures them.

Not only is the story terrorizing on its own the artwork amplifies it because it shows the mother pony’s swelled up breasts and why does she only have 2

This is some kind of sick perverted interests and fantasies of the people in the comments

I would have been like yeah okay fine this is just someone’s thoughts and story whatever fine do that but the community is SO TWISTED SO TWISTED SOOO SO SO TWISTED

Because WHY are these idiots skewing the story

Its one thing to enjoy the story on its own right but these comments, these idiot fuckwads are so twisted and stupid that they believe that the little innocent ponies deserve the torture they got

Its so sick that these fluffy pony stories have been targeted at children because the art and the fluffy ponies themselves bypass whats allowed for children to look at and as a result of this these children have become desensitized to this horrible torture gore and even like it

In their damaged perverted minds this is acceptable is this justice for the actions of the fluffy ponies

Whoever enjoys this in a way that encourages the story rather than just accepting or even appreciating the story is a sick pervert

Stuff like this shouldnt be readily available for children to access, LET ALONE FREAKING RECOMMENDED ON YOUTUBE. Content like this should only be available to people who seek it, not to children who just want to see videos of their favorite show on youtube. I searched “fluffy ponies” on my search bar and the first videos that popped up were tortureporn like the video i saw. This stuff shouldnt be on youtube, rather in a designated website that is not easily found and accessible to children

The people who make and consume this content get enjoyment from seeing something innocent (like fluffy ponies) be tortured and ruined and destroyed, the same thing is happening to the young children who watch this stuff, at best they are scarred by what they just saw and at worst they join this sick and twisted community (i especially know this because the profiles of the people commenting under the gore video had pfps that children usually have like gacha life and neon edm fursonas and roblox avatars). These children dont know how disgusting this stuff is because i can tell you as a child that had unlimited internet access that you quickly get desensitized to this stuff and even end up seeking it, enjoying it. The people who make these mlp torture stuff are truly despicable because they know it will reach children under the umbrella of it being my little pony, this is their sick pleasure knowing that it will taint innocent children.

Unpoppable Filter Bubbles

I used Google to better understand how to escape Google’s filter bubble. Wrap your head around that. I wanted to know if there was easily accessible information, provided by Google, about how to avoid falling prey to their algorithmic search tampering. 

The term “filter bubble” was first coined by Eli Pariser in his 2011 book The Filter Bubble: What the Internet Is Hiding from You. In his book and Ted Talk, Pariser uses the example of asking two different people Google searching the same word at the same time and getting completely different and diverging perspectives. In his Ted Talk, he told the story of how he had two friends both search the word “Egypt.” One of his friend’s feeds was almost completely news about protests and other relevant, world information. The other friend had no news, but simply tourism and fun fact information. 

So, who do companies like Google tailor information in such a way? The purpose of Google’s filter bubble is “providing and consuming content that is closely aligned to your preferences results in the creation of a bubble or chamber, restricting your view of the wider picture.” Using your personal data, including location, device, search and click history and other information, Google edits and tailors your search results to show you what they believe you should want to see most. Every Google user, logged in or out, experiences these algorithms. So how do we get around these? How do we avoid being exposed to this Google-tailored version of reality? 

So, as I would do with any other question I have, I Googled it. And I learned a lot.

Logging out and clearing your history and cookies will not protect you as well as I would have thought. Even doing both of those things and using an incognito or private browser will not completely hide your activity or keep you safe from the algorithm. Simply using your IP address and location, Google still subjects any and all searches to their own “internal bias.”

Unfortunately, Google is everywhere. Escaping their filter bubble is made even more impossible by the fact that Google is not the only website that employs these tactics. Facebook slowly edits out or hides posts from friends and pages you interact with that you are less likely to interact with. Yahoo! News curates their news results based on what they believe you are most likely to click on. 

Clicks are money, and these companies are trying to rake it in. By showing you a curated list of content you are likely to click on, these internet companies are simply trying to set themselves up for success. The continual improvement of algorithms and websites is important because it is how companies keep us coming back. Updating websites for stickiness and speed is exactly how users keep wanting to come back. 

Since avoidance seems impossible, awareness is the next best thing. As informed readers, we must take it upon ourselves to search for diverse information and points of view to escape our own filter bubbles. Interacting online with others who have differing viewpoints is important in making sure that we are challenging our own biases... and popping our Google filter bubbles as well.

Digital technologies provide us with a world of possibilities at our fingertips. Never before have we enjoyed so many opportunities to learn, exchange, participate and create. Yet, the internet also opens up certain risks to its users – especially the most vulnerable ones, such as children: privacy concerns, cyberbullying, disinformation, exposure to potentially harmful content and predatory behaviors, to quote but a few.

How can we ensure access to a safe and stimulating online environment for the greatest number, where they can make the most of a wealth of opportunities, while at the same time mitigating its negative side-effects? Internet: Useful but Distractful

In the world of Technology which surrounds most of the people in the modern society, everything went fast and easy. This technology makes everything easier especially when we are communicating through the use of internet or other mobile technologies. It can also help us in many ways. But even if everything was almost on it, still it it has it's struggles and issues that we cannot avoid. And here are some of problems that I have encounter through the use of internet.

Unsafe Website

Before, I didn't know that Wikipedia is a product of Web. 2.0 wherein the user can manipulate the information on it, and because f not having idea about it most of the time when I have assignment or research I'm just searching on this website. One time we have an assignment at Earth and Life Science. We have research about the different theories on the origin of the Solar System. During our discussion I read my assignment and one of my classmate said that I have research a wrong one. She said that the theory I have research wasn't really related to the moon, instead it is related to the sun. I argue to my classmate and told her that what I have search was correct but when she showed me the book where the idea she was pointing out was there I already believed. 

Laziness

When I am browsing to internet, reading Wattpad, listening to music and other things related to social media, most of my time will just spent on it. Yes! Most of my time. My laziness attacks when I'm doing it. Computer Addiction

It was last summer when I realized that I'm already a computer addict. Wanna know why? Well because at those days most of my time was just spent in front of the computer. Maybe almost 10 - 12 hours, also I'm sleeping late (sometimes not sleeping anymore) and really it wasn't a good thing. Due to it my eyes and back always ache, most of my savings got spend and most of all my mama and papa scolded me. 

Poser Victim

In the world of social media we cannot avoid tricksters. These tricksters also known as "poser" are people using other's pictures and naming it after them to fool some people around. Even if it's embarrassing I admit I was once before a victim of them. It was February when somebody sent me friend request by the name of  Aaron Flores. After stalking I immediately accepted his friend request because he's handsome in his profile picture. He message me up and our conversation went long until months had passed and I'd notice that I am already falling for him. He confess that he likes me but after he also admit that he's a poser. Actually not "he" but "she!". I was really hurt that time because the one who fooled me was one of my close friend from Quinapondan. After what happened I learn a lesson and it is "not to trust anyone easily especially if you just known him/her only in internet." 

 Social media are already part of our daily lives. This can help us but this can also distract us. So, for you to avoid those problems and not to be fooled like what I have encountered, you should be aware, you should be intelligent and practical and most of all you should be more responsible in using internet.

Advantages and Disadvantages of the Internet

The global economy and communication have been completely transformed by the Internet, a network system. The network connects all of the different computer systems in the globe and enables effective communication between them. Although its use in daily life only gradually increased in popularity, today about half of the world's population does so. In our daily lives, the Internet is used for everything from purchasing a pair of socks to booking an airplane ticket. And without the Internet, it would have been impossible for some of the largest corporations, like Facebook, Microsoft, Amazon, etc., to flourish. Now let us look at the advantages and the disadvantages of the Internet.

Advantages of the Internet:

Access to information: The internet provides an enormous amount of information on any subject. It is a vast resource that is available to anyone with an internet connection.

Communication: The way individuals communicate has been revolutionized by the internet. It enables communication via email, social media, and video conferencing with people all over the world.

Entertainment: Streaming movies, music, and games are just a few of the many entertainment possibilities available on the internet.

Convenience: People can now buy, pay their bills, and complete other jobs more easily from the convenience of their homes thanks to the internet.

Disadvantages of the Internet:

Cyberbullying: People can now harass and intimidate others more easily because of the internet. Cyberbullying may be harmful to a person's mental well-being.

Addiction: Internet addiction is a possibility. The use of the internet can consume people to the point that they overlook other facets of their existence.

Privacy concerns: Identity theft and other types of cybercrime can thrive on the internet. Personal information should only be shared online with caution.

Misinformation: Misinformation can also be found on the internet. It might be challenging to distinguish between sources that are reliable and those that are not. This may cause misunderstandings and the propagation of false information.

I am all for making friends over social media. I've honestly met/talked to some amazing people because of it, but there is a line between being friendly and being creepy. I have no tolerance for people who don't listen and keep being a nuisance, and neither should you. When it comes down to that, you should block/report that person. You come first, and wanting to feel safe over the internet is important. Don't give out important information about yourself right from the start. Take your time, and be safe. I love you all.
