8 Hours, 10 steps, 6 days to find a job

Okay, we have covered the previous steps of going through Craigslist and Work2Future events. Now, its the weekend and you think its okay to forgo the job search. Oh Heck No! First, let's look at your laundry, Get it done. Look at your suits or work clothes. Do you need to wash or clean your shoes? Do you know how to tie an tie ( this goes for you too women bows don't just appear ) ? What do you need for inperson interview - makeup works for men too I know of three men who wear concealer because of discoloration. It all reads like its too much to think about? Well, you don't want to wait an hour before an interview to find out your pants have a hole in them or you don't have socks.

For me, I have two skirts but no a fancy shoes to go with them. I have two simple tops that are professional-ish. I don't have any tights or panty hose to wear that fit anymore ( thanks for ten pounds lost ). I need to check my makeup if I have any concealer or blush or mascara.

What about your hair, do you need to get a quick spray on coloring item or could you get a box and do a quick rinse color the day before?

What makes you think your good enough for a job doesn't always translate to making you look good enough for the interview. Case in point, I was doing the pre-interviews for a position and one candidate came in frazzled from the rain, now I recognized they needed a minute I let them have the time to go to the restroom and get settled.

Unfortunately, their settled was not the look that was presented, the individual had somehow turn their shirt inside out. I quietly mentioned it and the person explained they found a big stain on it. I advised instead of inside out what about backwards ( it was a pullover ) and it worked a lot better.

Next, watch a few youtube videos or google Interview Q&A or preparation there are lots of examples of interviews and for different jobs.

Now, you know you need to do laundry, mend a pair of pants maybe set aside a set of clothes for an interview. Next, its the weekend GO OUTSIDE (as weather permitting) and see around your neighborhood is the local coffee shop hiring? is the grocery store hiring? The laundromat? Whenever I am looking for a job that somehow sends a message out to the universe to put Help Wanted signs out.

You can ask your favorite movie house if they are hiring or if you see the local park ranger if they are hiring and what its like to work for them - who is their HR department?

Yes, talk to people because one thing I learned was the minute I announced that I wanted a job I found a job, maybe it wasn't the idea job but, when talking to a architect I didn't know that there was a construction company hiring. The minute I talked to the barista did I know that they were looking for help on the weekday from 4pm to close.

Also, if possible get a paper application at any place and look at it. I would grab one or two from different places and take it home and FILL IT OUT. I mean fill it out as it became my cheat sheet for when I would show up at an office and be handed one to fill out. Because I had my #spare application I could use it to fill in dates, addresses, who the contact was. Sure, I could keep all this information in my phone or have written some of the information in but, interviews are a lot like visiting the doctors office there is a pesky form to fill out and you are immediately nervous and wondering when your name is going to be called. So, having a cheat sheet is great to be able to confidently fill out the information.

Now, you've gotten home, finished your laundry, set aside a interview outfit, filled out an application and ...?

I think that Daniel should get a little cat that he names something cute. like typo. and it should be the silliest dumbest creature in the world, and Armand should be so jealous of that cat that it still somehow makes him look stupid in comparison.
