HAPPY FIRST POST OF 2024! (yes, I know it's already February :3)
Anyway, both Issue 68 and Issue 1 of Fang the Hunter came out in the past month, so I'll talk about both of those, starting with Issue 68!
Sonic is helping Tails test out a new extreme gear he's been working on as well as find a Chaos Emerald, but the two accidentally stumble upon (as well as into) an unknown cave system.

There isn't a way out for the two of them in sight, but Tails picks up the Chaos Emerald nearby on his Miles Electric pad, so they begin exploring the cave to find both it and an exit before stumbling upon a big open area with the Chaos Emerald waiting for them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Chaos Emerald and the cave itself are being guarded by a giant salamander however, so Sonic has to evade him while Tails comes up with an idea to make him stop attacking...

The salamander then agrees to show them the exit, and Sonic closes it behind them upon their escape to make good on their promise to help keep the cave safe.

Moving over to Issue 1 of Fang the Hunter, it starts with Fang, Bean, and Bark attempting (...and failing) to beat Sonic.

After their defeat, Fang reveals that they were planning to get info from him on a supposed eighth Chaos Emerald, but Sonic doesn't believe them, and they decide to leave.

Tails then shows up and tells Sonic about a mysterious flying battleship, and the two go out to find out what's going on with that.
Tumblr media
While they're doing that, Fang, Bean, and Bark end up going to Angel Island to see if they can get info on the eighth Chaos Emerald from Knuckles, but he's nowhere to be seen, so they begin exploring Mushroom Hill to find him.
Tumblr media
The three get split up however, and it's revealed that Knuckles is in fact there and keeping a close eye on them, and he manages to trap both Bean and Bark, leaving Fang alone to fend for himself.
Tumblr media
And that's it for both Issue 68 and Issue 1 of Fang the Hunter!
Also, it's been confirmed that we won't be getting any more issues of the mainline series until after the conclusion of Fang the Hunter, and Issues 2 and 3 of Fang the Hunter are currently set to come out the 28th of this month and the 20th of next month with Issue 4 also being set to come out in April, so we probably won't see Issue 69 until April or May at the earliest.

#JackedKirby - Kirby’s Hulk... Back From The Dead!!! 💥💥💥 The Incredible Hulk’s solo series from 1962 is one of the rare missteps from the early years at Marvel when Jack, Stan, Ditko and the crew were banging out hit after hit. Canceled after only 6 issues, despite pencils from both Kirby and Ditko, the book never quite found its footing... you can even say the same for the character himself. An original member of the Avengers, Hulk was also written out of the book by Issue 4 to make way for Cap... but a few years later they would give the big green Machine another go inside the anthology pages of Tales To Astonish!!! 💥💥💥 Starting with Issue 60 Hulk would be featured in the monthly anthology alongside another character in a sort of half-length story. This way he didn’t have to carry a whole series, it was only one 13 page feature a month. Steve Ditko And Stan Lee worked on the character at first, but starting with #Issue68 (published in June of 1965) we see his original artist brought back... the King and Hulk were reunited again!!! 💥💥💥 Pic 1 of this post features the cover, of which Kirby penciled the BOTTOM HALF only (Bob Powell did the top) featuring quite a different looking Kirby Hulk then before. He had more of a human shaped face, instead of the Frankenstein type monster face Kirby was known to draw. 💥💥💥 Pic 2 and 3 feature interior images of the Hulk from the story, also putting forth a newer look for a Kirby designed Hulk... I especially like the transformation three panel set (pic 2) that shows the gradual transformation of the Hulk back to Banner... The King was back with his monster and he would have a nice 19 issue run on Tales To Astonish with the character for ole times sake!!! 💥💥💥 #JackKirby #Kirby #KingKirby #Hulk #TheIncredibleHulk #TalesToAstonish #BobPowell #SteveDitko #StanLee #Comic #Comics #ComicBook #ComicBooks #60sComics #ComicsOfThe60s #igcomiccommunity #igcomicfamily #ComicsOfIG #ComicsOfInstagram https://www.instagram.com/p/BsyXAtHBZnR/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=nmpakqiusfo7

#JackedKirby - The Sentinel and the The Spy!!! The anthology book Tales from Suspense is one of the most important books of the silver age super hero era at Marvel. Not only would the series turn into Captain America's own individual series with Issue 100, but it provided a forum for Cap and Iron Man to be featured in individual stories alongside The Avengers team book. The books usually featured a cover from Kirby (often portraying BOTH characters) with Kirby drawing the Cap portion and Don Heck often drawing the Iron Man stories. #Issue68 was published in August of 1965 and is a continuation of a Red Skull centric story from a previous issue. Cap is brainwashed by his arch enemy to assassinate the commander of the Allied Forces... and the issue opens with a signature Kirby splash to continue the story!!! Cap regains control of his senses before he can carry out the killing... lucky for these poor soldiers who had the task of restraining him and would have probably took a serious ass kicking if Cap stayed brainwashed. I love the Cap/Red Skull stories of this era. It established the renewed rivalry of these WWII era foes into the mid 60s! #JacKirby #KingKirby #Kirby #Cap #CaptainAmerica #TalesOfSuspense #IronMan #RedSkull #AlliedTroops #AnthologyComics #KirbySplashPages #SplashPages #Comic #Comics #ComicBook #ComicBooks #IGcomicCommunity #IGComics #60sComics #ComicsOfThe60s
