She IS water. Calm one second, and able to kill in the next. Impossible to hold onto. Her violence one moment, overtaken by sadness and grief the next. The girl simply flows. Me: Akemi and Mizu are mirrors of each other, showing the differences between existing in the world as a masculine woman versus a feminine one. Both have the same goal of taking their lives into their own hands, escaping the labels placed upon them by society. While one fights a physical battle, the other fights a societal one. Both battles are equal in the narrative, and both are shown to have incomplete worldviews when handling them. In this way, Mizu and Akemi are the same woman walking two different paths of self-actualization and victory. And as Mizu learns from Akemi to care for those around him, Akemi learns to fight as fiercely for her desires as Mizu does.
