One of the best displays of cinematography in The Housemaid (2010) which I rambled about here... Idk I'm having a lot of thoughts about this movie after my first watch let me be slightly pretentious ok
You start off with the characters on more or less equal footing, but then the vantage point lowers as Ko Hoon stands up and begins to advance on his mother-in-law. In combination with the dutch angle he becomes, suddenly, much more threatening.
You eventually arrive at these pairs of shots that have a quite extreme difference compared to the camera's initial position. The power imbalance is stark: that piece of shit is literally looking down on the other. Something I forgot to mention in the other post is how the director Im Sang-Soo loved to have these gradual zooming/panning/rotational gestures, a very perfect way to build up intensity in slow-paced moments. In this case, the cameras zoom in as the confrontation escalates.
At the end of the conversation, you get this beautiful, beautiful, dutch angle (the framing using physical space & also lighting!!!) before a return to normalcy (with the same vantage point as the start of the conflict. 10/10 chef's kiss mwah I sure love a touch of east asian subtlety in filmmaking...
There are many striking cases of dutch angles/dramatic vantage points/framing/slow zooms/pans/spins breaking the "calmness" and it's all oh-so-symbolic when you start to think about how the camera work mirrors the the tension bubbling under the surface of a household that appears to be perfect... how things begin to spiral out of control...

Language: Korean
Country: South Korea

2023 (59th) BaekSang Arts Awards - April 28, 2023 Best New Actress (Roh Yoon-Seo)

Hi! Hope you're doing well ☺️. I would like to request headcanons for Ha Do-yeong and Jeon Jae-jun falling in love with the reader. She is from a rich family and Moon Dong-eun's friend who helped her in her revenge by getting married to Jae Jun. She doesn't really love him; she only got married to him to help Dong Eun. Even though he cheated on her with Yeonjin, he still loved her (toxic love) and was possessive over her. At one point, she met Do Yeong after he learnt about Yeonjin's infidelity. He fell in love with her too. Both men being obsessed with her and getting jealous of each other. Thank you ❤️
╰┈➤Having Jae-Joon and Do-yeong being obsessed with you
╰┈➤Author's Note: I didn't know how to end this so the ending might be bad.

You were a daughter of two very rich people.
Growing up, this caused many people to assume that you were snobby, spoiled, rude, better than everyone, a show-off
However, they were all wrong.
Despite having parents who had well-off jobs and made tons of money, they raised you to be polite, smart, respectful, manners.
Things that children of rich people do not have
When you got to highschool, many people believed that you would hang out with Yeon-jin and her friends.
Including Yeon-jin.
Except you didn't.
You wanted to be friends with people who wanted to be friends with you because you were like or because you had money.
That's when you become friends when Moon Dong-eun, who you became good friends with.
Dong-eun was a sweet girl, even though things at home weren't good, she was still the happiest girl.
Unfortunately, Dong-eun started to get bullied by Yeon-jin and her friends.
You did the best you could to help Dong-eun but when the bullies of your friend also have rich parents, they are able to get away with it.
This led to Dong-eun dropping out.
You weren't surprised that she decided to drop out and you didn't blame her.
You offered her place to stay at your home when she found out that her mother got up and left, leaving Dong-eun with no place to stay.
Dong-eun stayed for a few months before she left.
She thanked you for letting her stay at your home before leaving.
You and Dong-eun didn't talk much after that.
You and Dong-eun went your separate ways.
Until a year later, you receive a call from Dong-eun.
Dong-eun explains that she was planning to get revenge on her bullies back from highschool and was wondering if you were willing to help her achieve her plan.
You agreed to help her.
She asked you if you were willingly to marry Jeon Jae-Joon, not fall in love of course, but to get information from him.
You told her you'll try to get him to marry but you cannot promise he'll marry you.
Luckily, it was easy to trick Jeon Jae-Joon.
You met Jae-Joon at an exclusive gala organized by a mutual acquaintance, where your families were invited as prominent guests.
Jae-Joon, known for his charm and arrogance, approached you with a mix of curiosity and confidence, intrigued by your reserved yet commanding presence.
Despite his reputation, you managed to maintain your composure, impressing him with your intelligence and sharp wit during your conversation.
Unbeknownst to Jae-Joon, your encounter was preplanned by Moon Dong-eun, who saw this as the perfect opportunity.
Over the next few months, Jae-Joon pursued you relentlessly, enjoying the challenge of winning your attention.
Jae-Joon fell deeper for you, mistaking your calculated actions for genuine affection, while you maintained emotional distance to avoid unnecessary complications.
It takes long before Jae-Joon asked you to be his girlfriend.
Of course, you said yes.
Jae-joon believed that you actually love him.
You couldn't believe that Jae-Joon truly believes that you love him.
While you were with him, there was not much information to get from him to give to Dong-eun.
All of the information you received from him, Dong-eun already has.
You continue to stay with him to try to get more information from him.
For a year, you played the role of the perfect couple.
The tabloids adored you both, labeling you the power couple of the elite. Jae-Joon was possessive, yet he worshipped you.
Then, he proposed.
The wedding was grand, an opulent event attended by Seoul’s wealthiest.
You were the envy of many, draped in a designer gown, standing beside a man who claimed he would give you the world.
Still, no new information from Jae-joon.
It wasn't until two years later, you discovered information from Jae-joon.
Jeon Jae-Joon cheated on you with Park Yeon-jin, who is married to Ha Do-yeong.
Once you discovered it, you rushed to tell Dong-eun.
You didn't divorce Jea-joon after you discovered he cheated on you.
Your goal was to help Dong-eun get information Jeon Jae-Joon.
You couldn't divorce him despite one piece of information on him, you could find out more information about him.
A couple of weeks later, Moon Dong-eun tells you that Yeon-jin announced her pregnancy.
You ask Dong-eun if she believes the baby is Jae-Joon's.
Dong-eun wasn't sure if it was and has no way of knowing if the baby is Jae-Joon's but she will definitely keep that in mind.
Jae-joon continue to act like everything is completely normal, like he hadn't cheated on you.
Jae-joon continues to buy you bouquets of your favorite flowers, takes you out to dinner, etc.
A couple years later, Moon Dong-eun sets her plan into motions.
Everything began to fall right into place.
Ha Do-yeong
You knew who Ha Do-yeong was, CEO of a large construction company.
You have seen your father do business with him.
Do-yeong found out that Yeon-jin cheated on him with your husband.
Do-yeong knew Jae-Joon was married but didn't remember who Jae-Joon has married until he finds out that you are Jae-Joon's wife.
The moment Do-yeong saw you, he became infatuated with you.
You are the most beautiful woman he has seen.
Do-yeong come to you to ask you if you knew that your husband was teaching on you with his wife.
You smile as you told him that you did, you were the one who caught them together six years ago.
This confused Do-yeong. If you had known, why didn't you divorce Jae-Joon?
You revealed to him that you were working with Moon Dong-eun, a friend of yours who came to you for help to which you agreed to.
You amazed Do-yeong.
He didn't know what amazed him about you.
When Jae-Joon found out that Do-yeong was talking to you, he was angry.
Ha Do-yeong already took his daughter, now he is trying to take away his wife?
Jae-joon confronted Do-yeong on him talking to his wife.
He asks him what he does he thinks he's doing talking to his wife only for Do-yeong to ask Jae-Joon to ask him what he was doing with his wife.
Jae-joon didn't like that being thrown at his face .
Is this what Do-yeong felt when he found out that he was sleeping with his wife? Jae-joon asks himself the moment he actually realizes that you could leave him for Do-yeong.
Jae-joon tries to find ways to keep you away from Do-yeong but get Ye-sol back.
Do-yeong continues to talk to despite Jae-Joon threatening him to stay away from you.
There was on incident where Do-yeong and Jae-Joon had gotten into a fight with each other about you. (Do-yeong won).
You watch of all this go down.
All while you smile to yourself on how they fight over you.

your first daughter
park yeon-jin x jeon jae-joon x f!mother!reader
you raise a girl that was never biologically yours
warnings: reciprocal IVF! na-ri is biologically yeon-jin's, but you carried her. yeon-jin having an affair with you. jae-joon being jae-joon.
you knew from the beginning that you were making a mistake but you did it anyway.
you had always wanted a child. a piece of yourself to love, to raise, to nurture into the world. however, your body alone wasn’t enough. you needed something more, something to bring that dream into reality.
you had always known you couldn't have children of your own. the doctors told you when you were sixteen that it was infertility, an unchangeable fate, a cruel twist of biology that left you longing for something you could never create alone.
for eighteen years, through tangled emotions and reckless choices, you had been caught in something just as inescapable…a love triangle with park yeon-jin and jeon jae-joon.
it started in high school, where obsession and rivalry blurred into something neither of them could name. even as you all grew older, even as the world changed around you, neither of them ever truly let you go.
in the end, it was her, yeon-jin, who gave you the one thing you thought you could never have. yeon-jin had offered so casually, so easily, like she was handing you something insignificant.
"take one of my eggs," she had said over a glass of wine, her manicured fingers tapping against the stem.
"you’ve always wanted a child, haven’t you?"
you had laughed at first, but the offer lingered, wrapped around your mind like a vice.
in the end, you said yes.
the embryo was created. jae-joon’s sperm, yeon-jin’s egg. however, it was your body that carried her. it was you who felt the kicks of na-ri. it is you who endured the pain, who birthed na-ri into the world and held her against your chest, crying as she wailed for the first time as yeon-jin was beside you the full time.
you raised na-ri. you loved her. you gave her your name.
normally, yeon-jin should have never been a part of the equation but she always had a way of slipping back into your life.
it started with little things.
"you need a night off," she had said, showing up at your door one evening, dressed too nicely for a simple babysitting favor.
"let me watch her."
you should’ve questioned why she was so eager. however, you were exhausted, so you let her in, let her tuck na-ri into bed, let her comb her fingers through the girl’s hair with the kind of gentleness that no one would ever believe yeon-jin possessed.
as the days go on it became routine.
na-ri adored her.
"yeon-jin eomma!" na-ri would squeal, rushing to her the moment she walked in.
you were just, “eomma” but yeon-jin was, “yeon-jin eomma”
yeon-jin would laugh, scoop her up, press a kiss to her forehead.
you should’ve stopped it but you didn’t.
you let her in, let her carve out a space in your daughter’s life, in yours and at night, after na-ri was asleep, yeon-jin didn’t leave.
she stayed.
the woman’s hands traced familiar paths over your skin, her lips pressing against yours with the kind of hunger that felt like possession.
"you love me," she whispered into your mouth.
you never denied it but she never said it back with words.
one night was quiet, the air thick with something unspoken as yeon-jin leans against the doorway of your living room, swirling a glass of wine in her hand. the weather-woman’s eyes flick over the dimly lit space, over the soft glow of the lamp on the coffee table, over you—lounging on the couch, legs curled beneath you, looking at her like she’s the only thing in the world that matters.
"you’re staring," you murmur, lips curving just slightly.
"so?" she counters, voice smooth, controlled, but you see it… you see the way her fingers tighten around the stem of her glass, see the way her shoulders relax in your presence, see the way she lets her guard slip just enough to reveal something real beneath it.
you reach for her, fingers brushing over her wrist, and she sets the glass down before letting you pull her in, let her sink into the warmth of you as she settles beside you on the couch. yeon-jin’s perfume lingers in the air, expensive and familiar, and when her fingers trace up the side of your neck, you shudder beneath her touch.
"you’re too used to getting what you want," you whisper against her lips, teasing.
yeon-jin hums, amusement laced in her breath as she tilts your chin up with two fingers, her mouth hovering just above yours.
"and yet, you always give in to me anyway."
she kisses you then, slow and deep, like she’s trying to brand the taste of her into your mouth. your hands slide into her hair, pulling her closer, letting her melt into you as the world outside disappears, as the only thing that matters is the way she breathes your name between kisses, the way her lips linger against yours, the way she kisses you like she’s afraid to let you go.
she kept coming back, only in the way she watched you when she thought you weren’t looking, only in the way she curled around you in the dark, her breath warm against your shoulder.
"do-yeong doesn’t know," she murmured one night, her fingers trailing over your bare stomach.
"does jae-joon know about us, at least beyond na-ri?" you asked.
the woman’s lips curled against your skin.
"of course," she whispered.
"he always knows."
jae-joon wasn’t an idiot.
you saw it in the way he looked at you, the way he clenched his jaw whenever he saw yeon-jin with na-ri.
the thing is that jae-joon had always been around, in his own way.
unlike with ye-sol, where his presence had to be hidden, where he had to watch from a distance while another man raised his daughter, na-ri knew the truth.
the seven-year-old knew that jae-joon was her biological father, and that alone made him satisfied. no, smug.
he relished in the fact that he didn’t have to play the part of an invisible shadow, that he could be acknowledged in na-ri’s life without secrecy, without shame.
"you doing alright, princess?" jae-joon asked, crouching down to na-ri’s level when he stopped by unannounced, as he often did.
she beamed up at him, a wide, toothy grin that he’d never admit made something warm settle in his chest.
"mmhmm! yeon-jin eomma visited today with eomma."
at that, jae-joon’s expression flickered. the businessman’s lips pressed together, a slight twitch in his jaw.
"did she?"
"she brought me my favorite snacks," na-ri continued, swinging her legs as she sat at the dining table, blissfully unaware of the tension that always seemed to linger when jae-joon’s name and yeon-jin’s name were mentioned in the same breath.
you stood off to the side, arms crossed, watching the interaction unfold. jae-joon always looked at na-ri with something close to pride, something he probably wished he could show to ye-sol too, but never could.
"you know," jae-joon said, standing to his full height and looking at you now, "she’s getting more and more like me every day."
"god forbid," you teased, rolling your eyes.
jae-joon only smirked, pleased, as if it didn’t matter what you said because he had this, and that was enough. he had a daughter who knew who he was, who called him appa, who wasn’t being raised by another man unlike ye-sol.
still, his smirk faltered just a bit when he noticed the way you kept glancing at the clock.
"what, waiting for someone?" he asked, tilting his head.
you didn’t answer, but he already knew.
"she’s got you wrapped around her finger," he muttered, slipping his hands into his pockets.
you should’ve denied it but yeon-jin was already on her way over, and you both knew you weren’t about to stop her.
na-ri didn’t know the truth about having a little sister, neither did ye-sol about having an older sister. if they ever did, if do-yeong ever found out, everything would burn.
still, you let yeon-jin in. still, you kissed her in the dark. still, you loved her.
you were always good at making mistakes and yeon-jin was always good at making you want to.
yeon-jin had everything she wanted. you and jae-joon… two people bound to her in ways that neither of you could untangle yourselves from, no matter how much you hated it.
she loved you in her own way, twisted and consuming, she loved you. she loved jae-joon, too. maybe not in the way he wanted, not in the way that meant he could truly have her to himself, but enough that she never let him go.
enough that you and her let him into na-ri’s life, enough that she let him into her life.
however, there was always him.
do-yeong.
you never said it out loud. neither did jae-joon but you both hated that he was there.
it made you sick…the way he could touch her in the daylight, hold her hand without secrecy, be the perfect, polished husband while you had to keep your place in the dark. and jae-joon? he despised do-yeong for raising ye-sol, for being the father figure to his daughter while jae-joon was forced to lurk in the shadows, pretending he was nothing more than an old acquaintance.
"he doesn’t deserve to be in her life," jae-joon had gritted out once, gripping his glass so tightly you thought it would shatter.
he was talking about ye-sol but you knew, deep down, you both felt the same way about yeon-jin.
"you’re quiet tonight," yeon-jin murmured, sliding into your lap, fingers trailing up your neck.
jae-joon sat across the room, swirling the whiskey in his glass, watching.
you exhaled, your hands instinctively resting on yeon-jin’s waist.
"just thinking," you said.
"about what?" she gives you that smirking look.
you could’ve said na-ri, you could’ve said nothing at all but instead, you tilted your head, your lips brushing against the shell of her ear as you whispered,
"about how much i hate your husband."
jae-joon huffed a quiet laugh from his seat.
yeon-jin only smiled, leaning in closer.
"good," she murmured, "then we have something in common."
