                                                                         Box
So...As I said before, this is the big project three of my friends(X @MAGIMARU @__olddoll @Pan991106) and I were busy with! DIR EN GREY MONOPOLY 2024.
Basically, it’s a game that took us about 6 months to complete and recorded the whole year of Diru. Actually none of us had done such a thing before or foreseen the process to be so exhausting. But yeah, we made it and gave it to every member in Osaka!!
An overall look of the game first
Tumblr media
Map
Tumblr media
                                                            Cards type1<named special events>
Tumblr media
                                                Cards type2<named normal cards>
Tumblr media
Cards type3<named magic world>
【MAP】
As shown, the map starts from 正月(January) and club citta, which was the venue of My Bloody Vampire, the very first show of Diru in 2024. Followed by Europe tour, Psychonnect, Androgynos and Who Is This Hell For, each space is named after the exact venue.
【RULES】
Concerned over language barriers, we tried to keep everything clear and simple, especially the rules.
Like normal monopoly, getting your money from the bank, collecting your token, rolling the dice, buying/selling properties(venues) and taking actions based on the space you end up on. That’s it!
Tumblr media
Money(ordered by members’ ages and decorated by their signatures we received in 2024)
(btw the currency is called TRK, short for toriko虜)
Tumblr media
Game manual
Tumblr media
                                                                         Tokens
There are four kinds of spaces:
Tumblr media
property space
When you are on a property space, you can choose to buy it and charge the rent.
Tumblr media
chance space 1 for Cards type1<特別事件 special events>
Tumblr media
chance space 2 for Cards type 2<普通事件 normal cards>
Tumblr media
chance space 3 for Cards type 3<魔法世界magic world >
When you land on a chance space, you need to draw a card and follow the instructions. You may even get powerful tools there!
it’s even simpler than normal monopoly I feel haha
Tumblr media
Types of cards

【特別事件 special events】
This kind took me most of the time(I did almost all the drawings and design except for a very few cards and the tokens), so I will begin with it.
Like what I indicated before, you can draw a special event card when you land on a corresponding space. Each player/member can find their own special cards originated from their experiences in 2024.
*actually each one of them has 10 cards respectively, but technically it’s impossible to explain all of them, so I’m sorry to leave out some.
【Kyo’s part】
Tumblr media
I finished kyo’s part first! From left to right, it indicates:
-kyo mentioned it was rly nice to have Arukuma at the venue and he wanted to see Kyoto’s mascot too, so I kinda joked about it
-the very famous HELL HELL HELL HELL HELL LOL
-kyo said it in a sukekiyo’s live around July, dont call me kyo or any name, say sukekiyo様(lord sukekiyo) instead and if you wanna happiness, buy a pot from me!(it was refering to a piece of cult news I guess)
-the sticker of his early age was sold out and Kyo hated it!!
-kyo mentioned he had Unadon three days in a row back in Nagoya, although it was him who wanted to eat Unadon the first
-he forgot his suitcase which was full of his personal clothing and shocked to see Poland was snowing when he woke up in Europe
-Kyo’s birthday live
-his instore, and he did a lot of cute doodles
【shinya’s part】
Tumblr media
-all the members took photos of shinya’s legs and he was kinda embrassed about it lol
-he really likes sea otter!
-he was kinda robbed by a deer in Nara
-In order to film his youtube video, Shinya arrived at the venue 2 hours earlier but Toshiya surprisingly arrived earlier too!! Unsurprisingly Toshiya laughed at him, took a pircture, posted it on instagram and our poor Fujieda manager was being told off by shinya imao
-shinya passed漢字能力検定(a difficult language test of Japanese kanji)and received a certificate
-shinya posted a pic of sea otter as a reponse to kyo’s tweet saying his legs look great lol
-shinya collected all the mangazines of their vkei time and filmed a video
-his birthday event
-shinya was kinda obsessed with a Tiktok drama(he accidentally spotted the ad on instagram) and poured money into it.
【Die’s part】
Tumblr media
-a collage of Die’s hometown Ise, Mie(all of us went to the show at Ise)
-he gave a MC there. It was rly touching
-he drank a lot of beer in Europe and treated Kaoru too(according to Thetheday)
-his birthday event
-he had his hair maintainance during the summer and it looked amazing(he posted it on Die’s mobile)
-his instore
-his 2nd instore(oh it must be tiring)
-his favorite baseball team 巨人(Yomiuri Giants) won the national champion of 2024 after beating Kaoru’s favorite team 阪神(Hanshin Tigers)
【Toshiya’s part】
Tumblr media
-it’s also a joke related to Kyo’s card(the one of mascots) and Arukuma
-his photobook was published!! Congrats!
-his instore
-he streamed a cooking competition with Fujieda in the summer(the room was rly hot without AC)
-Toshiya celebrated his birthday in Berlin!(so I drew a little national flag on the plate and used sausages to decorate haha)
-he and Kaoru had a stream for Androgynos. They looked fine on the screen but they both admitted the chairs were so hard that their asses were hurt lol
【Kaoru’s part】
Tumblr media
-Kaoru streamed with other TTT members to celebrate Boo’s birthday and drank a lot
-He misspelled his own name on TFOE(he also made a mistake on his birthday poster 長野虎之穴 and he corrected it by posting 野~~~! On X)
-he had a holiday in Naha after Psychonnect (according to TTD)
-his birthday event(he designed several stamps to collect at the venue and I used the same layout when drawing it)
-A mini repo about how I got his pick in Nagoya
-the last episode of TFOE. He sang a song, ate shrimps and said byebye.
-Androgynos stream with Toshiya
-his instore. He doodled a lot and they kinda reminded me of Godzilla
-巨人 vs 阪神
【普通事件 normal cards】
Tumblr media
-2024 was their 25th anniversary and we want to have another 25 years of Diru(so I drew 5 older them haha)
-1990120 was released
-Kyo was not rly happy with western food
-Kyo got mad on the stage
-Unext stream
-My bloody vampire caught the attention of local press bc fans covered with blood flocked to the street lol
-White Day
-the devil in me was released
-the stickers of Yokan were sold out! Congrats
-Dir en grey live film was out!
【魔法世界magic world】
Tumblr media
Here comes my favorite kind! It was so enjoyable to draw. I guess it only took me around 2 or 3 days in total.
Bc it’s called magic world, it’s all about their babies(Idk how others call these cute little creatures, I just love to them their babies lol) and their pets. All the stories are around these non-human sweeties, while the only exception is the one on the right corner of the 1st row. The card is called Time machine, so I imitated kaoru’s self-portraits on his picks, indicating that this card can transfer current him to his younger time.
It’s a terrible pun i know lol
【summary】
Yeah that’s all!! Although it’s rly difficult to give a detailed introduction, we just finished it!! It rly took me so much time and energy, actually I was still working on it right before I flew to Sapporo mid November. I hope the members like the gift. And most importantly, I hope every diru fan enjoyed their 2024 and continuously enjoy Diru in the next coming years.
btw if anyone is curious about the workload, this is the screenshot↓

Lizzie Andrew Borden (July 19, 1860 – June 1, 1927) was an American woman who was tried and acquitted in the 1892 axe murders of her father and stepmother (Andrew Jackson Borden and Abby Durfee Gray Borden, Andrew's second wife) in Fall River, Massachusetts. The case was a cause célèbre throughout the United States.
Following her release from the prison in which she had been held during the trial, Borden chose to remain a resident of Fall River, Massachusetts for the rest of her life, despite facing significant ostracism. The Commonwealth of Massachusetts elected to charge no one else with the murder of Andrew and Abby Borden. Speculation about the crimes continues into the 21st century.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
On August 4, 1892, Andrew Borden had breakfast with his wife and made his usual rounds of the bank and post office, returning home about 10:45 am. The Bordens' maid, Bridget Sullivan, testified that she was in her third-floor room, resting from cleaning windows, when just before 11:10 am she heard Lizzie call out, "Maggie, come quick! Father's dead. Somebody came in and killed him." (Sullivan was sometimes called "Maggie", the name of an earlier maid).
Andrew was slumped on a couch in the downstairs sitting room, struck 10 or 11 times with a hatchet-like weapon. One of his eyeballs had been split cleanly in two, suggesting he had been asleep when attacked. Soon after, as neighbors and doctors tended Lizzie, Sullivan discovered Abby Borden in the upstairs guest bedroom, her skull crushed by 19 blows.
Police found a hatchet in the basement which, though free of blood, was missing most of its handle. Lizzie was arrested on August 11; a grand jury began hearing evidence on November 7 and indicted on December 2.
Lizzie's trial took place in New Bedford the following June. Prosecuting attorneys included future Supreme Court Justice William H. Moody; defending were Andrew V. Jennings, Melvin O. Adams, and former Massachusetts governor George D. Robinson.
Prominent points in the trial (or press coverage of it) included:
The hatchet head found in the basement was not convincingly shown to be the murder weapon. Prosecutors argued that the killer had removed the handle because it was bloody, but while one officer testified that a hatchet handle was found near the hatchet head, another officer contradicted this.
Though no bloody clothing was found, a few days after the murder Lizzie burned a dress in the stove, saying it had been ruined when she brushed against fresh paint.
There was a similar axe murder nearby shortly before the trial, though its perpetrator was shown to have been out of the country when the Bordens were killed.
Evidence was excluded that Lizzie had sought to purchase prussic acid (for cleaning a sealskin cloak, she said) from a local druggist on the day before the murders.
Because of the mysterious illness that had struck the household before the murders, the family's milk and Andrew and Abby's stomachs (removed during autopsies performed in the Borden dining room), were tested for poison; no poison was found.
The victims' heads were removed during autopsy. After the skulls were used as evidence during the trial – Borden fainted upon seeing them – the heads were later buried at the foot of each grave.
On June 20, after deliberating an hour and a half, the jury acquitted.
The trial has been compared to the later trials of Bruno Hauptmann, Ethel and Julius Rosenberg, and O.J. Simpson as a landmark in publicity and public interest in the history of American legal proceedings.
After the trial the sisters moved to a large, modern house in the fashionable "Hill" neighborhood of Fall River. Around this time Lizzie began using the name Lizbeth A. Borden. At their new house, which Lizbeth named "Maplecroft," the sisters had a staff that included live-in maids, a housekeeper and a coachman. Because Abby was ruled to have died before Andrew, her estate went first to Andrew and then, at his death, passed to his daughters as part of his estate, a considerable settlement, however, was paid to settle claims by Abby's family (especially Abby's two sisters).
Despite the acquittal, Lizbeth was ostracized by Fall River society. Lizbeth Borden's name was again brought into the public eye when she was accused of shoplifting in 1897 in Providence, Rhode Island.
In 1905, shortly after an argument over a party Lizbeth had given for actress Nance O'Neil, Emma moved out of the house.
Lizbeth was ill in her last year following the removal of her gallbladder; she died of pneumonia on June 1, 1927 in Fall River. Funeral details were not published and few attended. Nine days later, Emma died from chronic nephritis at the age of 76 in a nursing home in Newmarket, New Hampshire, having moved to this location in 1923 both for health reasons, and to get away from the public eye, which had renewed interest in the sisters at the publication of another book about the murders. The sisters, who never married, were buried side by side in the family plot in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Lizbeth left $30,000 to the Fall River Animal Rescue League and $500 in trust for perpetual care of her father's grave; her closest friend and a cousin each received $6,000 substantial sums at the estate's distribution in 1933, during the Great Depression. Books from Maplecroft's library, stamped and signed by the sisters, are valuable collectors' items.

The UN General Assembly adopted a “historic” resolution demanding Israel to
• End its illegal occupation of the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip within 1 year
• Evacuate all settlers from these territories
• Return all land, assets & cultural property stolen since 1967
• Pay reparations to Palestinians for occupation damages
And requested:
• A register of damage to calculate reparations
• A mechanism to follow up on Israel’s breach of the prohibition on “racial segregation and apartheid”
• States to halt settlement imports + sanction Israel & those complicit
• Stressing that Israel’s breaches “seriously threaten” int’l peace & security
Votes:
✅ 124 in favor
❌ 14 against
🟡 43 abstentions
out of 193 members with the US among the few opposing it.
It was the first resolution by Palestine, a non-member observer state, after gaining new powers in May. Israel’s ambassador opposed the resolution heavily.
It aimed to enforce the ICJ’s July ruling. While non-binding, it reflects growing Israeli isolation and global will to bypass the US monopoly on Palestine.

Israel’s assault on Gaza had killed at least 172 dependents of United Nations staff by the end of June, according to a confidential UN report obtained by Drop Site, in addition to 195 staff members.
The previously unreported data reflects the extraordinary toll not just for employees of the United Nations but for their families, and emerges as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu prepares to address a joint session of Congress Wednesday.
Netanyahu, the subject of a potential arrest warrant from the U.N.’s International Criminal Court, will meet while in the United States with outgoing President Joe Biden, former President Donald Trump, and presidential hopeful/Vice President Kamala Harris. Harris, while meeting with Netanyahu privately, has declined to appear behind him during his address. At least 21 lawmakers, including some establishment figures such as Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash., and Chris Van Hollen, D-Md., will be boycotting Netanyahu’s address.
The data put together by the U.N.’s Crisis Coordination Centre also includes a breakdown by agency, finding five U.N. Development Program dependents, four UNICEF dependents, three World Food Program family members, and two World Health Organization dependents have been killed. 158 dependents of staff for UNRWA, or the U.N. Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees, have been killed.
In May, the U.N. reported that 188 staff members of UNRWA had been killed by then, but has not previously disclosed the extent of the familial casualties.
Among staff, the killings are similarly concentrated among UNRWA employees. The report was circulated internally July 1, before the U.N.’s International Court of Justice announced its landmark finding that Israel’s occupation of Gaza and the West Bank is illegal and must be ended. The UN did not respond to a request for comment.
Israeli attacks on U.N. staff have continued since. This weekend, a U.N. spokesperson said that a U.N. convoy was fired on by Israeli forces despite tight coordination ahead of time. State Department spokesperson Matt Miller said Monday the U.S. had requested information from Israel about its latest strike on the convoy, adding that he appreciated the “enormous sacrifice and enormous risk humanitarian workers put themselves under.” Miller said that Secretary of State Antony Blinken had met Monday with a top U.N. official and discussed the issue. Asked if the U.S. was prepared to dole out consequences if Israel continued killing aid workers, he said, “I don’t have anything to read out on that at this time.”
The UN report is the latest in a series of alarming findings regarding Israel’s actions in Gaza. Most recently, the UN Special Rapporteur reported "reasonable grounds to believe" that Israel’s actions in Gaza may constitute genocide, a finding echoing International Court of Justice (ICJ), which ruled in January that “the Court considers that the plausible rights in question in these proceedings, namely the right of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip to be protected from acts of genocide and related prohibited acts identified in Article III of the Genocide Convention and the right of South Africa to seek Israel’s compliance with the latter’s obligations under the Convention, are of such a nature that prejudice to them is capable of causing irreparable harm.”
However, Israel’s massacre in Gaza continues unabated. On July 22, Israel killed 89 people and injured at least 250 in a new assault on Khan Younis after ordering 400,000 people to leave their homes and refugee camps in the rapidly shrinking “safe zones” of Gaza, 83 percent of which is now a “no-go zone.” Bombings in the no-go zone have also not stopped; in the past 12 hours, dozens have been killed in Al Sabra, Jabalia, and Gaza City neighborhoods.
On Tuesday, Dearborn Mayor Abdullah Hammoud said in an interview with Breaking Points that Michigan voters supportive of Palestinian rights, Muslim and non-Muslim alike, were holding out hope that a Harris administration would be less ideologically rigid in its support for Israel’s war. “The door is open,” he said, adding that representatives of the Harris team had already begun reaching out to local Muslim leaders to set up meetings.
Republican candidate Trump, meanwhile, has left little hope there would be a significant departure from Biden’s policy were he to be elected. Basem Naim, a member of the political bureau of Hamas in Gaza, told Drop Site’s Jeremy Scahill that Trump’s recent belligerence was a reminder that there is little difference between the two parties on the question of Israel and Palestine.
“Sad to hear such statements, because it reflects that the complicit American policies towards the conflict here is a non-partisan issue and regardless who will win the election the blind and disgraceful support of USA to Israel will continue,” Naim said in a comment issued following Trump’s speech at the Republican National Convention, before Biden dropped out. “But we can very confident[ly] reassure Mr. Trump, that the Democrats have already done the maximum to help their puppet in the region and they both have failed to achieve any of their goals, therefore use your time to put a new strategy to rescue your puppet from its ominous demise, a new strategy based on justice and genuine rights of all people to freedom, dignity, and self determination.”
Robust protests inside the Cannon House Office Building were held on Tuesday by Jewish Voice for Peace and IfNotNow, with more planned for Wednesday to coincide with Netanyahu’s speech.

On July 29, a day before rioting by anti-immigrant protesters broke out in Britain in the wake of a deadly stabbing attack, dozens of Israeli right-wingers stormed two army facilities to protest the arrest of soldiers for allegedly abusing a Palestinian prisoner. What the two incidents had in common was the role of social media in organizing and fanning the flames of far-right violence and an underlying foundation of populist distrust of government. But they differed in one very important way: In Israel, the protesters were openly backed by some government officials and lawmakers; indeed, at least two Knesset lawmakers and a junior cabinet minister were among the rioters. The events in Israel thus were more analogous to those in Washington on Jan. 6, 2021.
The ordeal in Israel began when military police came to arrest nine reserve-duty soldiers at the Sde Teiman detention facility, where Hamas prisoners are held. Dozens of civilian activists answered calls broadcast on social media to protest and were soon storming the base. Later that day, the rioters moved on to Beit Lid in central Israel, the base where the military court was to hear the charges against the arrested soldiers, and briefly forced their way in.
Rather than expressing concern about a vigilante attack on a military facility, far-right leaders condemned the army. National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, alongside Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, demanded that the military prosecutor “take her hands off the reservists.” The police—which are under Ben-Gvir’s authority—took nearly two weeks before beginning an investigation. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has taken no action against members of his government who took part in the riots.
The Sde Teiman incident was an unusual case of far-right violence inside Israel proper. The West Bank has long been a wild west, with extremist settlers not only directing their attacks against Palestinians but against the army, too, when they feel it is interfering with their interests. That the lawlessness and violence have now spilled over the border into Israel, aided and abetted by some in the government, should come as no surprise: The far-right elements in Netanyahu’s government value chaos not only as a vehicle for promoting annexation of the West Bank but as a means of undermining institutions at home to better secure their grip on power.
How did these extremists come to wield so much power so quickly? The far right in Israel doesn’t have anything close to popular backing for its agenda: In the 2022 election, it captured just 10.8 percent of the vote (considerably less than the 37.1 percent for France’s National Rally and its allies and 23.5 percent for Geert Wilders’s Party for Freedom in the Netherlands, to name two recent European elections). But it has managed to exploit an unusual situation in Israel: a combination of Netanyahu’s political vulnerability and Hamas’s devastating success on Oct. 7, 2023.
Israel has been under almost continuous right-wing rule for the past half-century, but the government formed by Netanyahu at the end of 2022 was right-wing in a very different way. The Religious Zionism and Otzma Yehudit parties, together with much of Netanyahu’s once center-right Likud party, not only take a traditional right-wing hard line on national security issues, but they also distrust the institutions of government and the people who work in them—what, in the United States, Trump supporters call the “deep state.” Everyone from the attorney general and army generals to officials in the Finance Ministry are seen as ideological enemies, perhaps even traitors. Thus, it’s no surprise that when the army, which is ordinarily regarded in Israel as sacrosanct, finds itself in conflict with extremist settlers in the West Bank or rioters at Sde Teiman, the far right sides with the latter.
This worldview is not very different from the anarchical, archly anti-establishment, and paranoid strain of Trumpism. In the Israeli context, however, the religious element is paramount; indeed, it is rare to find people on the extreme right who are not religiously observant. Thus, the far right’s program seeks not only to undermine the country’s liberal and democratic foundation and replace it with a more authoritarian government but to turn Israel into a religious state. Many even hold that the war and violence now besetting Israel will bring the Messiah and redemption. They want to encourage it.
The early months of the Netanyahu government saw the far right try to undermine the state from the inside. The judicial overhaul, which sought to subordinate the judicial system to politicians, was the centerpiece of that campaign. But it was not the only one. Ben-Gvir wrested personal control over the police, turning it into an instrument for protecting the right and repressing anti-government protests. Taking control of civilian affairs in the West Bank, Smotrich unilaterally advanced a policy of de facto annexation, illegal land grabs, and settlement-building.
As far-right leaders have grown more assured of their grip on power, their followers have come to feel freer to take their agenda to the street. There is no evidence that Ben-Gvir and Smotrich are personally directing this violence and vigilantism, but they are encouraging it. Ben-Gvir ensures that the police avoid confronting and investigating far-right violence. He has eased the rules for handing out gun licenses, enabling more than 100,000 to be issued since Oct. 7, in many cases with little or no vetting.
It is unlikely that there is any grand strategy to spread the violence from the West Bank into Israel, but the occupied territories have served as a testing ground. Under the current government, extremist settlers have felt a new sense of empowerment and immunity in the knowledge that many of those in power back them while the rest remain silent. The result is that far-right violence has soared.
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs estimates that in the first 10 months of the war, settlers were responsible for some 1,250 attacks against Palestinians in the West Bank, of which around 120 led to death or injury. Most of those incidents have been relatively small, but from time to time they involve dozens of rioters or more. The most recent mass rampage occurred on Aug. 15, when some 100 masked settlers stormed the Palestinian village of Jit, shooting, torching vehicles and homes, and throwing stones. One Palestinian was killed. An army investigation revealed that troops arriving at the scene initially failed to stop the rioters, who appear to have included off-duty reserve soldiers, in uniform and carrying army-issued weapons.
There’s no indication that this violence is condoned by a majority of Israelis or even a majority of religiously observant Jews, who make up less than a quarter of Israelis. But none of this matters because the far right has gained control over large swaths of the government. Spurned by the center right, Netanyahu saw the far right as the only way he could return to power in the 2022 election and engineered a merger between Religious Zionism and Otzma Yehudit to ensure that they amassed as many votes as possible. Today, they have the power to make or break the government and have established their authority over the police, the state budget, and West Bank policy. Determined to stay in power at all costs, Netanyahu turns a blind eye to their provocations and their repeated affronts to his authority.
Since Oct. 7, the far right has also set its sights on the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) as another establishment bulwark of secular values. Traumatized by its failures during the Hamas assault of Oct. 7 and preoccupied by fighting the war, the IDF was slow to respond to the surging violence in the West Bank and the penetration of far-right values into its ranks, especially among reservists.
The defense establishment has finally woken up. “Nationalist crime has reared its head under the cover of war and has led to revenge and sowed calamity and fear in Palestinian residents who do not pose any threat,” Maj. Gen. Yehuda Fuchs warned in a parting address to troops in July before stepping down as army chief for the West Bank. In a letter to ministers in August, Ronen Bar, the director of Shin Bet, Israel’s internal security service, warned about “vengeful attacks that are sparking another front in the multi-front war we are in; putting more players into the cycle of terror; a slippery slope to the feeling of a lack of governance.” The United States and some other Western powers have also sought to contain the violence by imposing sanctions against known perpetrators.
But the pushback is unlikely to have any profound effect on a government that sees the defense establishment and Israel’s allies as enemies. In any case, the IDF’s hands are largely tied since it’s subordinate to the civilian politicians who are creating the problem to begin with. Inside Israel, the army has no authority to act, and the police now appear firmly in Ben-Gvir’s hands.
Where will it lead? Having gotten away with it once at Sde Teiman and Beit Lid, violent right-wingers will no doubt try to strike again inside Israel. Polls show that Israelis increasingly distrust institutions, and social media can be effective at bringing out crowds. Whether they can scale up the anarchy by enlisting hundreds or thousands of people to join them remains to be seen. The far right has yet to create a mass organization capable of mounting a sustained campaign of chaos. But with its iron grip on power, it might not need one.

Basel III is a global banking reform designed to prevent another 2008-style collapse. Think of it as a financial safety checklist: banks must hold more “emergency savings,” avoid excessive risk, and stay liquid enough to survive 30 days of chaos.
Although you’ll never hear about Basel III from Jim Cramer or other talking heads on financial networks, Basel III is the reason the world’s biggest financial institutions are already preparing — buying gold in record amounts. It is, hands down, one of the key drivers behind gold’s recent breakout. And, if we were conspiracy-minded, it’s very likely part of the reason the US government has been talking about auditing the gold in Fort Knox and the President recently announced: “He who has the gold, makes the rules.”
(We fear that might just be bravado, as we await the results of the audit. But that’s another story.)
Starting July 1, gold will be upgraded from a “Tier 3” to a “Tier 1” asset — putting it on par with cash and US Treasuries. Right now, banks are required to discount the value of gold by 50% on their balance sheets. Under the new rule, it will be treated as a zero-risk asset and valued at 100% of its market price.
That means banks will no longer need to hold extra capital to back their gold holdings — making it far more attractive as a reserve asset.
So, how does this affect gold prices in 2025? Since Basel III says banks can use gold to meet their safety requirements, banks are buying it up in droves and this demand is pushing gold prices higher, as banks compete with investors who also want gold as a safe haven during uncertain times.

In Panem, au. the sweeter the sun (the harder the rain)-rosaeles (ao3) Summary: They’re in his bathroom. Peeta has set Katniss down on the edge of the counter and now she watches him as leans forward to check the temperature of the bath. The girl on fire is still trembling from the cold, and when she catches sight of herself in the mirror, she sees near-blue lips and haunted eyes, blood smeared across her cheekbones and hands. She looks like something insane, something feral. Based on the prompt: Could you write a oneshot AU type thing where when Peeta comes back to Twelve after the war, instead of planting primroses or maybe after he plants them, he takes Katniss upstairs and gives her a long bath and washes her body for her. A bit more of an intimate parallel to her bathing him in their first games? The Trail's End: Outtake-populardarling (ao3) Summary: "I'm Katniss Everdeen and this here is Peeta Mellark. We rob banks." A camp that will change them forever, and the start of bringing a family back together. THE TREE OF BRIGHT LIGHTS-Naty_Mu (ao3) Summary: Peeta is sleeping upstairs, completely exhausted after one of his episodes. Katniss knows she can’t erase all the evidence of it, and even though he won’t remember, he will know. And she will have to see it again. She will have to see the shame and regret and self-loathing in his blue eyes. But she won’t have it. He deserves more. The Victory Train-JLaLa (ao3) Summary: “Peeta, this is your Victory Tour,” Effie, his manager, said. “You just won a Tony. You’re young and you’re talented, and you don’t need Glimmer as your leading lady.” “Then, who is going to play Christine?” Peeta asked in exasperation. “We’re heading out in three days.” “There’s my sister,” Prim, the young blonde who played Meg Giry, timidly offered. “She can sing.” Art imitates life. Costume designer Katniss Everdeen is about to play the role of a lifetime. The Winter Market-JHsgf82 (ao3) Summary: (Canon-divergent) Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark have never spoken, that is until one day they run into each other at the Winter Market, a new endeavor perpetrated by the newly reformed Capitol. Will Peeta finally gain the courage to speak to Katniss? And will Katniss finally be able to thank him for saving her and her family's lives? Will a friendship, or perhaps more, blossom?
