"Game vs Kehidupan Nyata: Dampak Positif Bermain Game Terhadap Kehidupan Sehari-hari"
Tumblr media
Game vs Kehidupan Nyata: Dampak Positif Bermain Game Terhadap Kehidupan Sehari-hari

So, KSP-2
So, a sequel to Kerbal Space Program is set to be released next year, I'm excited! After watching the trailers on the official YouTube channel, this is what is being added / changed, and here are my thoughts:
1. Interstellar travel. This has been confirmed on both the steam page and the trailers. Another reference to the galaxy has been made by the steam page, so I would imagine that the other solar systems will be orbiting a galactic center, as opposed to orbiting kerbol, as has been done in several mods. However, based on what we know, and the general theme, it's unlikely that procedural generation will be used to creat planets, like in No Man's Sky, so the galaxy will have to be either empty, or really small. But that's just my guess. There is also the problem of scale. The universe is really large. In real life, the nearest star is 4 light years away. Meaning that to get there in a reasonable amount of time, you would either need to go really fast, shorten the distance. My guess is that the developers will use a mixture of both. Scaling down the distances, while also providing very fast means of travel, which leads Into the next addition of...
2. Futuristic Technology. In the developer trailer, ksp 1 was described as having technology from the past, up to the present, which I feel is really emphasised with the Making History dlc. Ksp 2 is described as having near-ish future technology, which seems like the logical choice for a sequel. We see what appears to an Orion style nuclear pulse engine in one of the trailers, as well as a warp engine from the cinematic trailer, all though, that could just be "cinematic" and not and indication of actual warp technology. FTL travel would make sense inside of a such a game, I only hope that it is well balanced, and doesn't take away from both the realistic and enjoyable parts of the game. Introducing FTL travel, or any other kind of OP part could take away from the planning part of the game, having to manage your resources well, so you can't just strap the largest, most powerful engine on a large tank if fuel, and call it a day. Balance is key.
3. Resources and Colonies. Speaking of managing resources, the trailers also confirmed that base building, and resources extraction will be part of the game. I can't speak to what roles these colonies will serve, but we can make the assumption that they will house kerbals, produce science, and extract minerals, basically everything from Ksp 1. The trailers also show special parts for housing kerbals, so I would assume that there is some benefit to housing lots of kerbals, with each kerbal having some sort of resource requirement. Some kind of food and water requirement would make sense, and add some much needed complexity to colonies, as opposed to just a few tin cans full of kerbals. Going back to the minerals part, the steam page describes one of the exo-planets, Charr, as being iron rich, specifically iron. This leads me to believe that the resource system will be alot more complex than the one currently in the game. With multiple different minerals, each having some sort of purpose. While it is speculative, having the capacity to build rockets, fuel and crew them, all at a colony, would be very cool, and much appreciated. Another exo-planet, Ovin, is described as being earth like, a "super-earth". This leads me to the conclusion that there is some sort of difficulty in colonizing more hostile planets, such as Moho, or Charr, and that difficulty is some what taken away by colonizing kerbin like worlds. Terraforming seems out of the scope of the game, but you never know. I do hope that this colonies will act more like settlements, then large spacecraft. I also hope that there is some sort of control over them, more so than just controlling each machine. Not quite Sims City or City Skylines, not that much control, but an amount that fits well with the game.
4. Game Overhaul. While watching the trailers, I was wondering why this couldn't have been made into an update or large dlc. The answer seems to line in that the entire game has been rebuilt, from the ground up, with a new gui, hud, and all that fun stuff. It would simply be to big a change for a dlc. Hopefully this overhaul fixes a lot of the bugs, and makes the game more performance friendly.
5. Multiplayer. Simply enough, Ksp 2 will feature multiplayer. I can only assume that large servers, like you see in Minecraft, are completely out of the picture, though that would be cool. One large problem, which is one that the multiplayer mod for Ksp 1 had to solve, is the problem of Time warp. Since the kerbal approach of just speeding each player up to relativistic speeds, irl, to create time warp, is kind of out of the question, you are left with several options. You could forgo time warp completely, but considering that this game is slated to be physically even larger then the original, that make very little sense. You could have some master time warp, where it is controlled by one player, and is the same for all players, except in maybe some conditions (landing a craft, piloting a rover, eva's, etc), this could be the best option, or at least the easiest and most possible one. The final option is some sort of localized time warp, where everyone can control their own time warp. This, if it works, would by far be the best option, but getting it to work would be very tricky.
6. Modding. People have been concerned about modding becoming restricted as ksp continued it's development, but according to the developer trailer, the sequel will be building upon the modding capacity of the original game, but we can only wait and see. Modding is such a huge and vital part of the game, and it is due to modding that games like Minecraft and Skyrim are a relevant as they are. I really do hope that this is the case for ksp 2 as well. One potential area that modding could really take advantage of, is adding in extra solar systems. This could also, potentially be a way to expand the kerbal universe, literally, without putting to much stress on the developers, adding in fan created solar systems.
7. Hopes. I really do like Kerbal Space Program, and I really do hope that Kerbal Space Program 2 can live up to the original. I hope that it doesn't abandon it's more cartoonish and comedic nature. A proper vr implementation would be nice, similar to the ksp vr mod, which allows you to do most things in vr, including building a rocket, but well polished. A way to build a ship in orbit would fit the challenge a much larger universe brings. We can sort of already do this with docking nodes, but a more dedicated would be nice. Customizable Kerbals seems to have been teased in the cinematic trailer, but that's no confirmation. None the less, it would be a nice addition. I also hope that this Ksp 2 doesn't take away from the original. They do seem to have similar, but different games, so I hope development doesn't go the wayside, just because of the sequel. At the very least, the first game shouldn't be abandoned, and once it's development inevitably ends, I can only hope it's at a good point.
8. Conclusion. I was absolutely caught off guard by the annoncment of a sequel. KSP didn't seem like the kind of game to get a sequel, simply due to it's update driven, open world sandbox style. None the less, I really do hope that Ksp 2 lifts off, no pun intended. And I wish the devs the best of luck.
ps. Maybe get a tagline for the game, like Kerbal Space Program 2: New Horizons, or something.
pps. Please no realistic Kerbins, I'm begging you. Please no.

Kerbal Space Program 1.10: “Shared Horizons” is now available!
Tumblr media
Hello everyone!
The European Space Agency (ESA) and Kerbal Space Program have come together to bring you brand new content, including the ESA space-suit texture, new parts and variants, and two of their most iconic and groundbreaking missions into the game. Gear up, fuel up and prepare to share horizons with ESA and KSP!
Kerbal Space Program 1.10: Shared Horizons is the game’s latest major update aimed to continue with our efforts to enrich the KSP experience. Build a kerbalized version of the renowned and powerful Ariane 5 heavy launch vehicle, visit comets and push the limits of space exploration with a host of new additions to the game that not only will give you more things to do, but also make the game look and perform better with a bunch of bug fixes and quality of life improvements.
Let’s go through some of the update’s highlights below:
ESA Missions
Thanks to our collaboration with ESA, put yourself to the test and carry out KSP versions of the historic BepiColombo and Rosetta missions! Drop a lander module on the surface of a comet and visit the innermost planet of the solar system to study its magnetosphere and surface characteristics, all in the name of science. Best of all, the Making History and Breaking Ground expansions are not required to play these missions!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Comets
In order to make the Rosetta mission possible, comets now roam the Kerbal Solar System. With beautiful tails and larger dimensions than regular asteroids, comets appear in all game modes and you can take on new career mode contracts to detect and visit them. Be vigilant, because you might even see one that is passing through from interstellar space!
Tumblr media
New Parts and Variants
Kerbal Space Program 1.10: Shared Horizons includes several new parts and variants to match ESA’s style! Decorate your vehicles with a variety of flag parts that can be attached to your liking, take the brand new Magnetometer Boom along with the MTO and MPO to carry out scientific experiments on Moho or beyond, or capture asteroids and comets with the Advanced Grabbing Unit Jr., a smaller and versatile version of the “Klaw”. Additionally, there are also new variants of some tanks, SRBs, the “Poodle” Liquid Fuel Engine, and decouplers; plus, fairings have not only new variants, but some updated functionality as well.
Jool and Laythe Visual Improvements
The legendary green gas giant and it’s innermost satellite have new high-quality texture maps & graphic shaders, and now look sharper and more realistic than ever! Find a nice beach on Laythe and enjoy the view of Jool’s newly animated clouds. Beautiful!

This is not a review
There are games I play from now and then, usually together with my sons, but do not play enough to warrant a review. Here I will list those games, and say a few words about them, without putting a score on them.
Tumblr media
Spelunky 1 & 2
Roguelike, procedural generated platform game. These two games are awesome and they keep up after so many hours of gameplay. However I am terrible at it and usually me and my son die before even reaching level 1-3. But we’re having fun and that’s all that counts.
I play it sometimes when my sons ask me to, but for the most time we just keep killing each others. I would not pick this up on my own.
Tumblr media
Horizon Chase Turbo
If you’re as old as I am you played racing games in the 90’s and back then the car was a static sprite and the level was moving around the car creating the illusion of driving. Most famous game is probably Outrun but I liked Lotus Turbo Espirit 1 & 2 more. The music in those games are ace.
Horizon Chase Turbo recreates the feeling of those games and it nails pretty much everything. The graphics are shiny, the music is awesome and the gameplay is really fun. I especially enjoy racing with my son in split screen, hunting trophies.
This is a game that I play occasionally both on my own and with my sons. Wish I had it on my Nintendo Switch. Then I would most likely play it even more.
Tumblr media
Fall Guys
This game came from nowhere and suddenly everyone was playing it. It is an obstacle course were you need to complete it before everyone else. I’ve played this with my sons passing the controller back and forth. It is fun for a while and you can easily pick it up, play a few rounds and then do something else. It is a game that doesn’t require much and it will neither leave a lasting impression.
We play it from time to time, but do not invest that much time into it.
Tumblr media
Super Mario Bros. 35
How about that first Mario game? How about that first Mario game in battle mode with 34 other people. This is really fun. As you play along and people getting knocked out, the difficulty ramps up. Time is ticking faster and more enemies spawn at your level.
We’ve had lots of fun with this passing the controller around. This is also a game that the whole family likes playing and those are quite rare. My best placing so far is 4th place. Sadly they will remove this game come March 2021.
Tumblr media
Golf on Mars
This is silly. Why have I spent so much time in this silly little game? It is a 2D procedural generated golf game. You hit the ball from one hole to another and try to do it in as few hits as possible.
It’s a simple idea really. Since it is procedural generated there are about 25 billion holes. I don’t know why I keep playing it but I have a hard time stopping myself.
Tumblr media
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
This could be a real review because I’ve played all the tracks of Mario Kart multiple times. I’m not a huge fan of this game but it is fun to play with the kids.
I do wish there was more variety though as you get bored playing the same tracks pretty quickly. We still play this game from time to time. What I enjoy most is that I can play it with both my sons at the same time.
Will keep playing it to kill time with my kids.
Tumblr media
Super Smash Bros
I got this for my son because he loves brawlers, but I don’t really favor this one. I think the controls are wierd, I don’t understand the rules and it is lame that you must play so much to unlock new fighters.
What I want to say is that I enjoy Street Fighter 2 much more. I play it when my son wants to, but I would never pick it up on my own.
Tumblr media
Mechstermination Force
This is a cool little 2D action game where you fight big puzzle bosses. It is a kind of Shadow of the Colossus but as a 2D action shooter.
I really like the concept, but the controls are way too advanced. I have huge problem remembering the control layout and a hard time to get my character to do what I expect it to. The game is also hard and expects you to have a certain progression, and when you don’t level up your arsenal in the correct pace you will quickly find yourself out gunned.
I will most likely never finish this game.
Tumblr media
Helldivers
This is an isometric shooter where you complete short missions, level up your character and fight monsters. It is fun to play together but not so fun to play alone. I’ve played a bit with my son, which is chaotic to say the least. The game has friendly fire and the missions mostly end with us shooting each other or calling down reinforcements on each others’ heads.
It is fun, but I think it could be even more fun if you were a group of friends playing it together. Will still pick it up when we just want to shoot something.
Tumblr media
Hyper Light Drifter
I do not understand the hype around this game. I gave it 2 hours and then I uninstalled it. The environments are not interesting, the combat is not interesting, the story is not interesting. There is nothing here to drive me forward in the game, so when I get stuck on some ordinary mobs I just quit.
This was not for me. Deleted and will not return to it.
Tumblr media
Worms Battlegrounds
I find it hilarious that Team 17 keep giving out the same old game in a new packaging and are still able to sell it. Worms Battlegrounds is the same Worms I played 20 years ago. There has not been much development. The levels are still generated, the arsenal is pretty much the same and the AI is stupid as hell.
It’s a game that we play once and awhile.
Tumblr media
Wipeout Omega Collection
My first Wipeout was on PlayStation 3. The cool thing about it was that you could play in 1080p. That was one of the few games that would run on 1080p on PlayStation 3 and I had a full HD TV.
Wipeout is wipeout. I enjoy the fast paced racing. It is quite different from racing with cars as it should be. Playing it in VR is amazing and much easier. Games based on reaction times are much easier in VR.
A fun game to pick up now and then.
Tumblr media
Prey
I don’t understand this game. Monsters on a spaceship - fine, but they are not scary. Instead they are really hard to kill and you don’t have the weapons to do a proper job. Instead you have a foam gun (wtf?).
The story is so generic that I get bored and have to force myself through the levels. I got to a place where the resistance of continuing just got too great and I just quit. I guess this is a game for people that like BioShock.
I will not play this again. It was a bad experience.
Tumblr media
Kerbal Space Program
It looks so fun sending small green men to the moon, but boy this is a really bad adaptation of the PC game to console. The usability in this game is so horrible and it doesn’t really help you with what you should do or how to do it.
Nah, this was a horrible experience. Me and my son gave it a few hours but we never got anywhere.
Not going to pick it up again.
Tumblr media
A Way Out
I love the idea of a game that is designed to be coop and you can only play it in coop. Instead of collaboration being an option it will instead be the base of the puzzle solving.
Sadly the game is quite repetitive and the story is predictable and boring. Me and my friend never got to the end because we got tired of it, but we played through maybe 2/3 of it.
Not planning on picking it up and finishing it.
Tumblr media
Minecraft Dungeons
The latest in Diablo clones. There is nothing revolutionary about this game, but it is a fun game to play with your kids. It is not gory like Diablo 3, but it gives that satisfaction of collecting randomised loot.
The story is stupid and the graphics is Minecraft, but at least it is some hack and slash. I also like that it wi possible to play together even though you are way different levels, and it works. One person doesn’t get unlimited powers while the other dies all the time. It balances out somehow.
Will keep on playing with the kids.
