#Kitsune parent has a bit of lore

Okay. So @eiftheanonymous pointed this out and I wanted to make a post about it.

They pointed out that my designs for Ceroba's parents have multiple tails while Ceroba has only one.

But that has a reason. And it's not because Ceroba is weak. 

In the UTY 1-year anniversary stream, the devs said that Ceroba originally was supposed to have her tails hidden and was supposed to reveal them in her boss fight. They say it again in the official art book.

But that was changed because Aero was in charge of Ceroba's pacifist boss fight, and that lore information was lost in communication. Also, Aero really likes to draw characters with big hair.

So we ended up losing that bit of Ceroba's lore. (Which is a shame because, in my opinion, the tails were cooler.)

But I decided to reuse this little bit of information in my AU. And made some kitsune monster lore for it.

So Ceroba doesn't just have one tail. She has 5 tails but she prefers to walk around with them fused because it's more comfortable for her. While her parents prefer to walk with all their tails exposed.

But she can defuse them whenever she wants.

The tail thing is also the same for Chujin.

Chujin has 7 tails in my AU but prefers to keep them fused together.

While Kanako only has one in the present because she hasn't grown any extra ones yet.

But she will.

I decided to make some differences between the kitsune monster types.

Normal kitsune monsters can have up to 5 tails.

Boss kitsune monsters and normal kitsune monsters fused with a human soul can have up to 7 tails.

While boss kitsune monsters fused with a human soul can have up to 9 tails.

So no. Ceroba in my AU isn't weak. She is actually one of the strongest normal kitsune monsters, having 5 tails to prove it, but she keeps that information hidden. ;)

Kyojuro is written by my partner so made sure to give him some extra care to give him the fluff uvu He wasn't really a big character for me but some reason after three years getting into demon slayer he sprang and has me in a choke hold lmao

I might make a few adjustments to him but for the most part a bit happy with where he is currently!

Now onto the lore/character notes~

SHINOBU | TENGEN | OBANAI | MITSURI | GIYUU | SANEMI | GYOMEI | MUICHIRO | SEKIDO & KARAKU

-Kyojuro currently lives in a village with Tengen who had been partners for a long time (he and Tengen's other partners are very good friends) who shares the same space with Shinobu, Kanae and Kanao. Kyojuro is very well liked in the village as he's helpful and cheerful, so he goes around to help others when they need it while keeping to himself and keeping the fact that he's a kitsune a secret.

-Came across Obanai when he was younger (about five tails) and saw the ritual that the snake demon was put through by the humans. He was able to put a stop to it and did his best to heal the snake until he could get him somewhere safer, which he brought him back to his parents and Senjuro. Ruka deemed Obanai as one of her own, and Obanai became an honorary Rengoku.

-Often goes around from time to time to wander and explore, and due to it (and age) he's gained more tails, going onto his eighth. With the increase of people not believing in mythics and his own magic is starting to falter which he's gradually becoming accepting of.

-Is friendly with most people, including Giyuu, Sanemi, and a handful of others.

-Comes off as aloof at times but is wicked smart and can be sly when needed. He looks gruff but its just his resting face.

-Its rare that he takes on his fox form that's the true size (about the size of a horse) and instead sticks to a small fox form to blend into the area. During the winter his fur gets a little paler, but even during the summer he's rather fluffy and soft which means he usually has someone clinging to him because of it.

First piece for Mermay & Laurent's humanoid merman form redesign finished! I didn't change it too much, just tried to adjust some details into something that's easier to replicate more reliably. I thought of giving the serpent version either fin ears or horns but decided I liked him as is. I thought of drawing more of a face close up for the Serpentine version, but I was too impatient to wait till I finish that lol

Also gave him a spookier face on top of the human one as this is for the Spooky Town au. (meaning he has a different look in full human form as well, I'm just not in the mood to draw that rn)

Lore info for this Laurent below:

He is a Sea serpent like the "main" version from NCP, and has the same Fiancée (Arctic kitsune named Taiga)

He is the foster parent for his baby cousin Caelan in this story.

Every natural body of water Laurent swims in, the water will turn absurdly deep to house his massive dragonic form.

He is the lighthouse keeper for the mysterious town

He is VERY quiet, to the point people may think he's mute. He's not, Laurent just tends to not be very social.

His serpentine-faced form is actually bigger than the human one, reaching over 3 meters tall whereas the human-faced one remains his usual height (of 215 cm so he is still a biiig boy)

He is rarely seen out in town, and if he is, he's typically with his foster kid Caelan.

Laurent is VERY protective over Caelan, to the point he's eaten people to protect him. (humans being devoured by the town's more beastly citizens due to severe misbehavior is not uncommon)

While he can be extremely terrifying, Laurent is a bit of a softie deep down, and is especially kind to kids.

His hair can be an indicator of his mood/how close he is with someone in town; the straighter it is, the more grumpy he tends to be, because it means he spends more time isolated in underwater/doesn't want to talk to you and therefore hasn't bothered to dry it. In turn, if its more wavy, this indicates he's more on land and has bothered to actually tidy up and dry it when hanging out with someone on land.

She’s got a spunky, wild attitude. Akira doesn’t let herself be defined by anything, but she struggles a little with insecurity

She takes after her dad a little, though Akira’s a bit short-tempered and doesn’t seem to always get along with others

She’s into punk bands

Akira doesn’t know her dad used to be the Ninja. Whether this is because he’s been mind-wiped, or if he remembers and just never told her… well, you’ll find out eventually

which now brings me 2 ao-kun's family which is just him and his dad- and um heres rhe mom thing; shes dwad,, um uh basically she was a squadmate (yk in the tengoku credits theres rhe squadmates w rheir hats off ? yeah one of them has blue hair. so.). died at war. Thing is ao himself does not know any of that at all since his dad did not tell him (for. some reason). dont ask why ao-kun's the only one with Angst sorry. akso I ferl like yhis whole part is like insensitive of me bc I have both my parents so. its just,.i feel like jm being . mean jn a way idk

As kids theyve probably like lived on the circus- cuz idk if kitsunes are common in the rh universe so they were immediately seen as like a Big Thing. however (sorryfor the really unnecessary angst) they were basically only seen as an attraction 2 the circus and theres ahuge amount of pressuee put on them and again theyre only like 13. so. it really nessed them up for a while cuz like they still had school. and they do live in a house but compared to the time theyd spend on ghe circus they barely even. stah there anymore. and the csmeos tram does are just a glimpse of little moments he has to take his. tiny break from yhe circus.and Ummmmm pualine isjn there too just not appesribg onscreen (i refuse to let her js Fade out of the franchise). ok angways I also hc that they transform as a way of stimming

The majority of teh kids she only has as Acquaintances (tb, t&p . theyre not Besties but theyre like friends(kinda)), except for 2- ojou-chan (wizard waltz girl) who is her absolute Best friend and db (the litke drummer in drum bkys) who is her absolute Wordt enemy. ojou-chan is like an absolute ball of shyness (<- HELP I JUST REALIZED afTER ERITIGN THIS) so how she ended up becoming yagura's (who i hc to be the most hyperactive talkativr child) best friend is up for debate.

ojous special interest is flowers (ofc) and so she (SOSHI?!?!#?@!!? SORR) will find any and every moment to infodump to someone about it. the thibg is she has the Andiety🔥 and knows basically No one due to her absolute Fear of talking 2 people (in fact it was yagura that walked up to her. Taurus Iracundus: Arataki Itto and the Raging Bull

****Possible spoilers ahead!!!

Today we’ll be talking about our favorite oni Arataki Itto & how his constellation plays into his lore!

Let’s start w/ a quick intro: Itto is the leader of the Arataki Gang & is the (mostly self-proclaimed) Numero Uno; he may be loud, stubborn, and not the brightest but he’s a kind person at his core & wants to help others (aside from trying to fight Kujou Sara)

Short note on what the oni are: they’re yokai both in game & irl; yokai are supernatural beings that vary in shapes, sizes, & abilities that include but are not limited to kitsune, tanuki, mujina, oni, etc.

Some oni were believed to be able to transform and they were often associated w/ lightning & thunder bc of their loud & terrifying power which was made into a small reference in his official character intro

I bring up his heritage bc I will be referring back to the oni to tie in the constellation to the lore a bit later on so keep an eye out for that :3

So what is Itto’s constellation? Taurus Iracundus means Raging Bull (you might have already guessed Taurus meaning “bull” since it’s exactly the same as the zodiac)

*This isn’t important to the lore but if anybody is interested: bovine comes from boves (cow) but is not the same as taurus which refers to the bull, if you see bos taurus that refers to cattle; bulls typically refer to adult males that aren’t castrated*

Even though Itto is first & foremost an oni, it’s easy to see how he is similar to a raging bull since his stubbornness is one of his obvious traits along w/ his horns; he & his brethren are unfortunately generalized by their temperament & prankster ways which has caused issues for the oni, making them generally feared & disliked although a lot of people do like Itto especially children

So what does the bull symbolize? It can capture a lot of concepts ranging from strength to fertility to good fortune to (self-) sacrifice

As we know, Itto is objectively a strong character since he was able to destroy a large boulder in his story quest, we can also say that he is mentally strong in the sense that he is very persistent/stubborn (if we look at how much he tries to fight Kujou Sara & how much he trains onikabuto to fight despite their docile nature…you get the gist 😂)

Since strength is more obvious, I won’t elaborate too much on it for Itto so I will explain more on how good fortune & sacrifice can be tied into his lore since those might not stand out as much

First for good fortune: objectively we can say that Itto did have a rough childhood w/ the death of his parents, being homeless for some time, w/ the discrimination against oni on top of all this

Despite his sad background he has come a long way & encountered many people whom he considers as friends and/or family: Granny Oni, Kuki Shinobu & the rest of his gang, Takuya, Perilous Trail Gang aka Yanfei, Yelan, Xiao along w/ Traveler & Paimon

Perhaps this is bit of a stretch but I think it’s a possible interpretation of his life so far considering his childhood; he also can survive surprisingly well on doing odd jobs for a living so I would say he’s not really struggling too much financially but I guess some might argue otherwise?

We can also tie good fortune to Ushi: at the end of the Perilous Trail event, we find out that before meeting Itto, Ushi was often used to repel spirits so he is similar to a charm or a ward to keep spirits away

With the exorcism of spirits, that means that whoever is near Ushi can experience good fortune but we can also flip the script & say that Ushi himself has also experienced good fortune w/ Itto since he says that the key to happiness is spending time w/ the ppl who make you the happiest, meaning that Ushi was much happier spending time w/ Itto that he decided to stay w/ him & even became the gang’s auxiliary member

To tie the oni in here, an interesting point is that even though they’re often depicted in a malicious light, they could also be associated w/ good fortune; there’s a festival called Setsubun where ppl throw beans which has been referenced to in the game, the good fortune is believed to come after oni are repelled…so rather than being actual symbols of good luck, the oni are the ones who bring good fortune, a bit ironic

There’s also a story of how the Akabeko aka “red cow/bull” (Aizu dialect) became associated w/ good fortune; ppl in the late 1500s (when there was a smallpox outbreak) believed that the akabeko could ward off diseases

An important note is that red is often associated w/ good fortune in a lot of cultures especially in the East

You can probably see where I’m going w/ this: I don’t think Itto being a red oni is a mere coincidence, him being red is more than just playing into the trope of Red Oni to Takuya’s Blue Oni

Aside from representing his passionate & wild side the color red symbolically plays into the concept of good fortune in his lore & I think the constellation does help to solidify

Now for sacrifice, which comes from a history of bulls & cows being common sacrificial animals, we mainly see this concept in Itto’s lore three times: one of his voicelines, his own story quest, and the Perilous Trail event

So it’s very clear that Itto is pretty much the antithesis of sacrifice, his main belief is that nobody should have to suffer in order for others to live/prosper & the tale goes against everything he believes; he understands that sacrifices in the past are already past so he doesn’t fixate on changing them & goes forward trying to stop any more sacrifices w/ much persistence

His story quest focuses on the concept & starts off in the 1st act introducing the fable of the red oni & blue oni

It’s because of this story that has been told to the following young generations of oni that Itto understands what sacrifice truly means in the end; it may be w/ good intentions from the one who’s sacrificing themself but it doesn’t mean that others will be happy in the end

His story quest is a good precursor for what happens in Perilous Trail if it’s completed before the event when Xiao tries to sacrifice himself for the gang to escape; what’s interesting here is what Shinobu says about Itto trying to stop others from making sacrifices, she explains that Itto doesn’t see whatever he does as sacrificing himself

It speaks to his bull-like tenacity, he isn’t going to go down w/o a fight bc deep down he truly believes that he’ll make it out & he won’t fail

To me, it seems that he can’t afford to lose because he knows that his family & friends will be sad if he’s gone & he isn’t willing to put them through that pain so he has a strong reason to fight through all of his obstacles

Going through Itto’s lore & story quest made me realize that while he is as loud & rambunctious as I imagined him to be when he first came into the game, he’s also a lot nicer than I had expected

Bruh I keep making drabbles and oneshots within my own rottmnt x samurai rabbit human AU but never post any actual info or “lore” but it’s cus idk how to start?? Soooo I guess this’ll be like the concept plan? Idk I’ll just try to make this look organized so I can introduce the world I’m always writing about ε-(´∀｀; )

AU Name: Crazy Little Thing Called Life

AU Summary: Take Rise TMNT and Samurai Rabbit into a crossover world where they’re just normal human people with no magic or mystics, just living and experiencing this crazy little thing called life (hehe) and just go through normal human things.

Bruh so this is kinda embarrassing but my brain got scrambled really bad every time I tried to organize it so I’ll just tell you guys in paragraph form (´ω`)

Starting off on the ROTTMNT side, the Hamato kids are blasian but only Raph, Mikey and Frida are half Haitian since I’m making Big Mama Haitian but Donnie and Leo aren’t since their bio mom was born in the U.S. Splinter is still Japanese lol and Draxum is Native American, specifically Cherokee. Hueso is Mexican and born in Yucatán (I will not elaborate any further or else I’ll never post this thing bc I’ll over complicate my answer), Casey is wasian with her mom being Japanese and her dad being a white American and Foot Lieutenant and Brute are her gay uncles and they’re Japanese too but Brute’s been in the US way longer than Lieutenant, April stays the same as a Black American and Sunita is blasian as her dad’s also a black American but her mom is Indian. Mona will also be in and I’m writing her as Polynesian Hawaiian.

Now with the Samurai rabbit side. This is pretty easy since they’re all Japanese BUT Chizu is half Filipino, Gen has Polynesian roots from his dad’s side and Kitsune is Ainu which is a small indigenous group in the north side of Japan. Usagi, his aunt, Hana and Kiyoko are mainlanders so they’re pretty “average” I suppose you can say even though it feels icky saying that given Japan got their issues when it comes to people they don’t deem as Japanese

Relationships

*adding deets on Splinter and his relationships bc it’s relevant for my new fanfic so I’m his is the one I’m only gonna reveal for now. But also I have another fanfic that’s set within this AU brewing in my head actually so what I wrote for Lieutenant and Brute is for future use*

Yoshi/Big Mama (past)

Legally married for nearly a decade but close to the end of their marriage they (more so Big Mama) opened their relationship so they could see/be with other people if they wanted to (Yoshi only saw 1 person and it led to Leo and Donnie to be conceived lmao)

Biological parents of Frida, Raph, and Mikey

Met the same way as they did in canon

Few years down the road Big Mama would later became Splinter’s boss for a bit since she got a huge promotion to be his manager (she’s just that girl ✨💵✨)

Were on bad terms for a while but for the sake of the kids learned to be civil with each other so they could healthily co-parent

Yoshi/Draxum (Current)

Started off as just a professional relationship as Yoshi hired Berry to be his personal chef since he was pretty much on his own taking care of the tots and cooking wasn’t really his specialty (spoiler, Berry wasn’t good at it either) and one thing lead to another and somehow Berry just stuck to the Hamatos since the tots saw him as their 2nd dad

They don’t want to label what they got going on but they do be cuddling each other most sometimes in bed

Yoshi/Dona (Past)

Had a rough introduction at the library after accidentally bumping into her and making her spill her coffee onto her shirt. She didn’t like that at all that it took nearly 2 months for her to forgive him

Started as just library buddies until she invited him out clubbing and then after series of events ended up in a friends with benefits type relationship

They were 30 and 29 when they had Leo and Donnie; Dona would’ve also been 30 if she hadn’t died a month before her birthday :( (yes I’m evil)

A lot of their hangouts consisted of them staying inside Dona’s studio, drink wine or smoke herb and vent about their childhood trauma with Depeche Mode or The Cranberries playing in the background

Yoshi didnt know Dona was pregnant until five months into her pregnancy when she finally confessed to him because she initially didn’t want to keep them but had no choice because she didn’t know she was even pregnant until she suddenly felt really sick and after a trip to the doctors found out she already close to her 2nd trimester already so she couldn’t get an abortion even if she wanted to.

There’s a lot more drama with them but I’ll just reveal that stuff in my future fics

In conclusion. Yoshi just has a thing for pretty and intelligent people who are mean to him and I think he’s so real for that 👍

I had separate the adults and the kids again. I’ll cut the crap and get the point with these guys. I’m just gonna hand up the entire groups lore and giev the adults brief descriptions(they’re not as relevant as the kids).

Band Lore: What started as a small trio band turned into a foster family with a big reputation pretty quickly. Three yokai in their early twenties(Koya, Jo, and Ash) started a band influenced by the surface in contrast to Hidden City they lived in. As they entered more places with richer snobs and more poverty, they started losing income with the greedy managers they ran into. This lead them to a life with band gigs by night and Robin Hood style jobs on the way out the door. Along the way, they slowly found kids who could help them and deserved the lifestyle they made. This lead them to the Battle Nexus Hotel, a place with solid paying gigs and tons of snobs to be humbled. They managed to keep that for about a year or two before robbing Big Mama. During that time they helped Mona and Jay narrowly escaped the Battle Nexus. Cut to 4 years later the mewbies have just been welcome to New York, which means they can finally try for more steady gigs on the surface. They all live in an apartment in Queens, kids on the floor above the adults and now running their own sets.

OK IM GONNA RAMBLE A BIT HFKDS (under cut cause I don't want to clog up anyones dash too much)

The basis for the oc's is that they're other mutants from Draxums lab. The story is that the place Draxum actually got the turtles from was a reptile seller, and he also grabbed a bunch of other animals to do experiments, though his main focus was turtles for their armored shells so they're the ones that went through the main experiment with Liu Jitsu.

These are Mary(left) and Shelley(right) Mary is a red footed tortoise and Shelley is an indian star tortoise.

They were both unmutated when Draxum brought Liu Jitsu in, positioned near the turtles. They weren't mutated with them because Draxum was set on turtles and he only had the four slots anyways, but the proximity meant that they were splashed with the goo that mutated the turtles and they are mutated with Liu Jitsus DNA as well. In the chaos of the lab they cling to whatever they can grab to feel safe, including eachother and another fleeing mutant which heads for the surface. After being able to calm down it shakes the babies off of it and disappears, they're found by a nurse as the woman is walking home, she doesn't really understand what she's seeing but she gets that they're defenseless and cold so she brings them home and raises them.

They barely manage to remain secret over the years that they grow, and that difficulty only grows when mutants become more commonplace and its more difficult to say that its impossible for there to be a big bipedal tortoise in your apartment building. They just lay low for a while, hating being cooped up but not seeing a better option as they don't want to scare anyone. Then they see the turtles in the news, people don't realise that they're trying to help, but the girls get that that's what they're trying to do. Mary gets the idea to try and do something similar, going out when there are attacks and disasters and rescuing people and providing medical care they've learned from their mom. After doing so for a bit, with their plague-doctor-esque masks to protect them from breathing in dust/gas or getting anything in their eyes (plus a bit of a disguise as a lot of people don't realise that they're not just people in strange costumes, which helps when you're trying to help someone afraid of mutants), they started being seen as heroes as plenty of people told stories about being helped by them. They were nicknamed the "turtledoves" as they have shells and birdlike masks.

On the other side of things! This is Plato(Play/Clay idk its hard to shorten a 5 letter name), Aristotle(Ari), and Socratese(Sock) Plato is a green iguana, Ari is a burmese python, and Sock is a satanic leaf tailed gecko (sick as fuck, I know)

These three were experiments with mutating animals with human DNA (taken from the pet seller they were stolen from) before Draxum tried anything on the turtles. They had just a bit of time to grow and process what was going on around them before Draxum found Liu Jitsu, so they eagerly took the chance to escape when the opportunity presented itself. They took a different path out of the lab and ended up in the underground city, luckily they didn't have to fend for themselves for too long as they were found by a kitsune who took them in and taught them. They live relatively normal lives compared to the turtles and tortoises as they don't have to stay in hiding (they still get some strange looks from yokai as they're not any identifiable species, Ari kinda looks like a naga but even Xe doesn't really get a pass) (I don't have as much story for them kdhf but they're all blorbo from my mind ok they're beloved)

I'd say either Donnie or Mikey are my favorite. Donnie cause me autism he autism. Mikey cause he's so charming and goofy but he barely gets any expansion on his character beyond "little sibling not allowed to do stuff!" and the Dr Delicate Touch/Dr Feelings bit (The latter is more to help the others instead of being about Mikey anyways :\\)

I got asked a LOT of questions about my Beastclan farm family, so uhhhhhhhh here’s a lore-dump of assorted stuff xD

In my lore, yes, the Beastclans are a persecuted group in most areas of Sornieth and orphans are a fairly common occurrence, hence why my couple ended up with seven adorable adoptees - it's still a small small fraction of the amount of Beastclan orphans actually out there.

Some of the kids remember their biological parents and some of them don’t!

Banjo (eldest Sprangyroo) was kept as a pet by dragons as part of an underground fighting ring where he was forced into matches with various creatures. He doesn’t talk much, can’t read or write, and had never even seen grass before he was eventually freed and taken to the farm. Banjo loves the farm.

Mila & Pietro (the two Longneck) do remember their families, but they each got separated from them when their village was attacked during a raid. Mila isn’t sure what happened to her family, but is looking forward to going out in the world to look for them once she’s old enough. Pietro found out that his family all died in the attack, and is the more timid and anxious of the two (the dragon farmhands all respectfully give him a wide berth so he isn’t too stressed around them)

Kiko & Koko (the twins) know their biological mother and occasionally sleep up at the temple with her instead of the farm, on days when she’s feeling capable of handling them - she was widowed just before they were born, and trying to deal with her grief and nursing two newborns at the same time (especially ones who closely resembled her late husband) was just hard. The farmers hadn’t really spoken to her before the adoption, but the three of them have gotten pretty close to one another over the years due to their co-parenting.

Flynn (second youngest) isn’t actually an orphan, but his parents work on the front line for Talona and the resistance, so they left him in the care of an old friend to keep him well out of harm’s way. He gets letters and packages from them often and is probably a bit too spoilt by both his sets of parents xD

Matilda (baby Sprangy) was found in her mother’s pouch by a group of Beastclan who were burying the fallen victims of an attack. She was so young and frail that they needed another Sprangyroo specifically to pouch her and give her the best chance of survival, and of course - of course - my farm gal volunteered. No-one knows whether or not she has any surviving family, or what her birth name even was.

The older siblings do help keep an eye on the younger ones when their parents are too busy with work, but I do also have a whole community of Centaurs and Fauns who live in secure lodgings in the woods, as well as an assortment of other Longneck/Sprangyroo/Kitsune/Talonok who also live in the surrounding area (and of course plenty of Beastclan-friendly dragons!) who can help out with babysitting if needed ^^

I'm glad you like it! The last chapter of Make Every Moment Last should be up on June 30th, so it should be ready for a nice binge for the summer.

And the stuff with the Phantom Thieves isn't spoilers at all, I promise. I think there might be a small mix-up. Because they live in a heavily human populated area, a majority of the Phantom Thieves are at least part-human. I probably should edit the list, but for clarity:

Ryuji is a reaper/shinigami. It's implied that this comes from his father, as in P5 he has to learn to control his abilities from an outside source. This person is also the one who gave Ryuji his disguise charm to hide his reaper traits.

Instead of 3/4 American, Ann is 3/4 Demon and 1/4 human. Her father is half-human.

I talk about this more in a separate post, but Yusuke's kitsune blood and powers come from his father. His mother was a human woman.

Makoto actually was born human. After an accident took her life, a friend of Sae's reached out to help. As a result, Makoto was kind of... resurrected. Like Frankenstein. This is something that's highly illegal to do on purpose. (there's one instance where it was on accident. we'll get to that later, but for now it's spoilers. let's just say it's how sae's friend figured out that there was a way to bring back the dead.) So, Makoto is a zombie. There's a lot of lore involved with that.

Futaba is... I got inspired by Necronomicon for this. Wakaba was some kind of eldritch being that Futaba constantly writes off as "sea monster" as to not freak people out. Her father was human, whomever he may be. This all depends on your headcanons, honestly.

Haru's father is a vampire, but her mother wasn't. Technically speaking, that makes her something called a dhampir but details. This does come into play with how I write out her Awakening scene.

Akechi plays things off like he's a full-blooded witch, much like Ren. However, since Shido is human in this AU, that's not true. The fact that Akechi is half-human is something that he hates and he thinks makes him weaker. So, unlike Ren who was predisposed to magic and natural talent, Akechi had to work and study hard to get as strong as he is by the time P5 rolls around. There's... There's a bit more that I do with Akechi, but uh... spoilers.

Sumire (and by extension, Kasumi as well) are both full-blooded fae. Both of their parents are fae, specifically flora fae. So their magic has a lot to do with plants and the like. I hint at Sumire's true identity by having her only able to use her powers to grow violets for the longest time. Her magic knows the truth, even if she refuses to acknowledge it.

I actually have yet to figure out what Sophia is. I don't know if I'm gonna keep her as an AI or have things get much darker with her being a spirit trapped in the digital world.

And obviously, Zenkichi is a werewolf. His codename is Wolf. How could I not do that? The only issue is, up until the Kyoto Jail, he has no idea. So it's a fun thing to play around with.

As for Ryuji, he originally was supposed to be the Phantom Thieves' team werewolf! I changed it, however, when Strikers came out and I started playing it. I thought that it would make more sense for the werewolf to be the person who's codename was Wolf.

The reason why Ryuji is a reaper now is actually because of Captain Kidd and the whole skeleton vibe going on. Since the undead are rather rare (and only vampires are legal, we aren't allowed to raise the dead), an immediate skeleton was out of the question. That's how I landed on reaper instead. It gives him a chance to have badass powers, too, to use in combat.

And besides, there's already one reaper in the overall Persona cast in P2. Why not have another?

If we're being honest, I completely forget the original reason that mark was included on Minato's eye. I think I just wanted a cool design element to make him stand out from his canon counterpart, and it ended up playing into the lore of the story.

Welcome to the final part of the Introduction of Nijisanji. Thanks for going through all of them, if you did. It was pain to work with so much and so little. This part would cover everyone who has debuted in the year 2020.

Nijisanji IN 1st Gen

Aadya - The name means beautiful. 21 year old, who likes to play games and sing. Does dancing as a day job, so acts as a gaming nightingale. She has a knack for games in my cursory view, but that might be just the competitiveness.

Vihaan - The name means breaking dawn, kind of. Likes gaming very much, and plays them very loudly and complaining... which to be expected from this crew.

Noor - The name means light. Likes BL, coffee and beer, BL to the point she learned chinese from watching a BL drama. Basically a middle-aged man at heart, including a very nice husky voice. Does talks and games. Sings randomly and looks up to Rion, of all people. Ange mentioned her, Ange likes to mention foreign people.

Nijisanji KR 1st Gen

Min Suha - Knows the culture through their parents and has a nice voice. Sister Claire likes him, and who doesn’t? He’s freaking cool, man!

Shin Yuya - College student in virtual Seoul. Always has a smartphone at hand, does self-searching on a constant basis. Definitely has otaku knowledge, likes singing, drawing and cute things. Doesn’t like horror games, but played a lot on stream.

Plays a lot of different games, including FPS like Apex, and this is where she gets to collaborate with Japanese senpais, which is always fun to see.

Gaon - Originally Moarin’s brother, but Moarin left, so the lore changed. Has a twintail for attention purposes. Only member of Nijisanji KR to work as a job, but quit as the end of 2020. He’s pretty cool. Not nice, but definitely not a mean person either.

Han Chiho - He’s a time-displaced psychic, and so speaks with a high register. High register is usually seen as old, people don’t use it anymore, but it’s usually perfectly understandable... it’s an interesting quirk. Other than that, pretty normal streamer.

2020 Part 1 (Jan-Apr)

Furen E Lustario - During debut, expressed a liking choking oneself... so we know who we are dealing with. Has to add using fingers, as to illustrate her math prowess. But overall a fun person to watch, and has a pretty good variety of streams.

Melissa Kinrenka - Wants to be a songwriter, but still needs help. But she is a great singer, and can write and mix songs. Usually called Meli. Has a deep side, basically.

Ibrahim - Originally an oil prince, but now runs an onsen. Acts like a child at times due to his supposed past, and he is muslim, as the lore and name implies. But overall, fits right in with the child-like male of Nijisanji... kind of.

Nagao Kei - He’s an exorcist, but really does any job. Pretty good at all kinds of fighting. Pretty old in terms of human member at the age 26. Very much like Ibrahim, but much more bishonen, which melts a woman's heart. Oh, he’s good at learning stuff. Like he tries to learn morse code, and completely memorized the KTANE manual. Just to make Fumi, one of his seniors, happy for a while. That’s some big dedication.

Genzuki Tojiro - Works as a secretary for the gods. Has that unmatching haircut. Very good at making songs and does mixing for Nijisanji events.

Kaida Haru - A demon researcher, but too lazy. Quiet and nice voice leading the viewer to see him as a mother figure, but as you guess, he doesn’t like it due to the work. Oh, said a slur on stream but got banned less than Yumeoi, which is quite sus.

Nijisanji ID Gen 3

Azura Cecillia - An alien angel. Has a sword with a really long name, but calls it Chonsuke for short. She’s pretty cute and a little bit ditzy, from what I remember. Got mistaken as a boy, which is such an odd thing, but maybe it’s the deep voice?

Nara Haramaung - A princess of a tribe. Originally released as part of 1st gen, but got delayed here, but the gen mates fit together very well. Sings spontaneously sometimes.

Layla Alstroemeria - Time-traveling history major. Definitely more airheaded of the group and most child-like of the generation. But she’s pretty fun to watch, regardless.

Nijisanji KR Gen 2

So Nagi - Traveling virtual Japan, speaking fluent Japanese with a nice clear voice. Likes Ange Katrina, which she readily repriocates. Seen as the top seed in Nijisanji KR.

Lee Siu - A female kitsune, and yes from the same illustrator as Fubuki. Likes dad jokes and an endurance player and does speak three languages. Roha likes her. Occasionally can hear the apartment announcement, which is always a fun moment.

Chae Ara - She’s an angel, and a great singer. And likes to people-watch. Has a cute voice, and good at hosting. I really liked her in the streams that I watched. There’s something about her personality that speaks to me.

2020 Part 2 (May-August)

Sorahoshi Kirame - Made her name through twitter, and traded fan art with KR members. Has the same illustrator as Kanata. Couldn’t stream due to money purposes for four days, got his PC after a month of hard work. Overall a poor and diligent girl.

Asahina Akane - 1st year high-schooler. Very energetic and follow people well. Likes a Jpop band, and likes to travel as well. Also does a lot of collabs with senpais.

Suo Sango - The youngest member of the theater club, which is the theme of the latest generation. Has a wide range, and likes Sanrio and tomato. Very motherly calm voice.

Like girly anime, you know Pretty Cure and stuff. Likes western pop music as well.

Todo Kohaku - Third-year high schooler. Said she’s a lady, but she’s definitely just a normal girl. Had a good cover of Mela, and overall a decent streamer.

Kitakoji Hisui - Middle-school transfer student. Likes a lot of different things, but Minecraft is what she is most known for... I guess it makes sense.

Nishizono Chigusa - She’s the troublesome one of the theater group. Very frequently makes sexual quips. Also I thought she was a boy when I first saw her. Definitely my favorite of the newest group, and also did a stream with Matsuri as well.

And that actually has a history. You see this is not Chigusa’s first rodeo... as it is apparent, and during her previous life Matsuri and her did a sleepover, and was quite close as well... so this is actually a really nice reunion. I didn’t know that until now.

Nijisanji KR 3rd Gen

Nun Bora - A second-year high schooler, likes drawing and playing the recorder which she has a battle with So Nagi. Quick learner, apparently. Plays APEX and Fall Guys, but is competent in pretty much any game. Definitely top tier APEX player.

Akina Ray - Japanese streamer who streams in virtual Seoul. Does a morning talk show, likes baseball, since she’s from Hiroshima, and Shadowverse. She’s actually an art student and a meat lover. But overall, the most seiso art student of Nijisanji.

Lee Roha - Idol trainee from outer space, a mixed race. A bit of a ditz, with the appropriate thumbnails. Streams in Japanese on YouTube, in Korean on Twitch. Does a lot of League of Legend on twitch, and does evening piano stream. Likes Lee Siu.

Nijisanji ID 4th Gen

Etna Crimson - Half supernatural, likes to make everyone happy. Definitely not Amber from Genshin Impact, because Amber is Kizuna Ai. Okay, bad joke. Yeah, she’s good.

Bonnivier Pranaja - Originally a fisher, but quit after being swindled. Usually appears with KR streams, actually. Maybe likes Hana? Who knows.

Siska Leontyne - Security officer for shady company. Pretty good at games involving killing... make sense considering her profession. Pretty cool and laid-back.

Nijisanji KR 4th Gen

Ryu Hari - Likes to collect nightmares, likes reading and playing the electric guitar.

Shin Kiru - A 25-year old NEET, has an odd way of speaking and strange topics. Likes Rock and horror movies. He seems pretty laid-back as well.

Yang Nari - 19-year old girl from a different world who now lives in the countryside. Pretty good at hosting with her cute voice. Likes sewing, and talks in high status. She has a thing of suffering, and that kind of comes out from lore.

Oh Jiyu - She’s a female vtuber, although she looks and sounds boyish. Third-year college student representative. Speaks Korean and Japanese, and like gacha and also singing... so maybe a boyish Suisei? I’m sure she’s more normal, though.

Nijisanji ID 5th Gen

Nagisa Arcinia - Wannabe fashion designer, speaks a bunch of languages... but that’s normal for ID... yeah, she’s cute and might be a little psychopathic. Typical.

Derem Kado - 16 year old girl going to magical school, always looking for a cat, but a special cat that makes contracts and stuff. High pitched scares and gets lost.

Reza Avanluna - He’s a world chronicler, he visits and chronicles worlds in his dreams. Has a ship going on with Hana, I think? I’m not sure. Please correct this, if untrue.

There you go! All 139 extant members as of February 8th, 2021, which is the third anniversary of Nijisanji... that was a long post... even though it was in three parts. Sorry for filling the days with this... I have been busy with collecting data and so on. But I hope you have a good inkling of the landscape that is Nijisanji.

This is also going to be pretty long, but I’ll try keeping it as short as possible (and it’s only going to be talking about what’s happened on the blog so far.) This will include information from the first 2 chapters, so if you haven’t read those be aware that there are spoilers here!

So, first and foremost, let’s talk about supernatural lore and the time loop. If you want to skip down to the next part just talking about the blog, it’s after the next black line (but you’ll probably be confused if you don’t read this).

In this world there is no “one true God” that rules everything. In reality, there’s a multitude of different supernatural creatures from all religions and mythology. This means there are Angels (ex: Seraph and Cherub), Demons (ex: Succubus and Kitsune), Dragons (ex: Hydra and Bakunawa), etc.

Or, in other words, everyone’s right in their religion because they all exist.

There’s a lot of lore here that I can’t go into without risking spoilers, but the last thing I can say is that The Operator is considered a type of  wraþþe demon (aka a demon of wrath). 

So, as Jay is shot and bleeding out the story mentions how he basically begged to any god or creature listening to help protect the others affected by their situation and how he wishes he could go back and save them all. Remember when I said that there are a bunch of supernatural creatures here? Well, they were there watching as he was dying and said his wish.

And what do they do? They panic. 

Why? Because they know that he is dying and they can’t let him die. People like Jay are extremely rare to come by because of his soul.

“His mother, who was away with the other leaders, was one of the most powerful Seraphim. His father, a mere mortal. But they loved each other greatly and their son had been blessed with a bright soul and a passion to support others. Yet here he was dying, after trying to help a childhood friend who had been possessed and tormented, the light within him desperately fighting to stay alive. No, this wasn't supposed to be happening.”

This explains why they are all freaking out. Because, while there are tons of different supernatural creatures, Angels and Demons still don’t get along and are in a constant fight. Some creatures, like the Phoenix, side with the Angels. They are sometimes also referred to as the “Celestial”. Others, like the Vampires, would side with the Demons. Sometimes they are referred to as the “Terrestrial”. Some creatures didn’t take any sides and were considered “Peacekeepers” or neutral parties.

The reasoning for the different names is because most fights between the Demons and Angels occur on the mortal realm. These fights aren’t the typical bloodbaths some people like to imagine, no, they are usually dealing with the interference of human life and the mortal plane.

The Angels, and usually the ones who side with them, are called Celestials because they typically are the creatures who have a harder time interacting with humans or going to the mortal plane while being visible. Demons and the neutral parties, on the other hand, are able to interact with the mortal plane a lot easier. This is why The Operator is able to be seen and have such strong effect on everyone.

This is also the reason why Jay was, and still is, being targeted by The Operator. When he was dying, The Operator was waiting to attempt to steal his soul and destroy it, because people with these souls are typically people who can interact with or be influenced by both the mortal plane and the supernatural plane. More often then not, these people don’t know about this and are targeted by both Celestials and Terrestrials. Because the Celestials have a harder time being able to influence the mortal plane, their goal is to try and use these people to help other humans, the world around them, and humans being hunted or possessed by Terrestrials. Demons, on the other hand, want to chaos destruction and chaos. They typically target humans and use them to create these things for them. In a sense, they use these humans that are possessed or corrupted by them as a food source. Also, it pisses off the Celestials, so there’s that bonus.

Only the most powerful Celestials and moderately powerful Terrestrials can actually view and interact with the mortal plane. All Terrestrials can view the mortal plane, however only the moderately powerful Celestials and most powerful Celestials can start the viewing of the mortal plane. For Celestials, if one creature starts a viewing of the mortal plane then any others who pass by can look over and see. Only the moderately powerful and the most powerful Celestials can actually go down and be there (even though they’re not visible to others). The most powerful Celestials are the only ones who can make themselves visible to humans and are able to interact with them.

Because Demons and other Terrestrials have such easy access to the mortal plane, this usually causes moderately powerful Celestials to be sent down to the mortal world, where they are unable to actually be seen or felt, and they usually fight to protect over the person/people that the demon use.

Now, Jay’s dad was one of the few exceptions to the rule of influence. This was because when he was in his late-teens him and some friends decided to mess with some witchcraft and supernatural stuff, but he was the only one actually affected ( because he was distantly related to another person with a partial-celestial soul, so there were very small traces of it in his blood. Even then, it was an incredibly small chance that this would actually happen). He had no idea this actually happened until he met Jay’s mom in the back of an alley one night. The rest is history.

So how does The Operator play into this?

The Operator saw Jay’s soul while he was attached to Tim and wanted to destroy or corrupt it. Because Jay was really close to Alex at the time, and The Operator couldn’t directly attach himself to Jay due to his soul being partially Celestial, The Operator decided to attach himself to Alex.

His goal was to cause destruction, chaos, and to cause as much pain/suffering to Jay as possible. (Note: he is classified as a moderately powerful demon. Still extremely hard to beat, especially for humans. To put this into context, if Jay currently fought a demon considered lowly powerful, he would most likely be left completely beat up and hurt, even though he has a chance of winning. These low level demons are still extremely powerful compared to humans)

While Jay’s dad had no problem being contacted by other Celestials or Peacekeepers, both his parents agreed they didn’t want him involved in the disputes of the supernatural world. They forbade any creatures from interacting with him and told them to keep him out of anything even remotely supernatural. Sadly, because Jay’s mom is a Seraph and is considered to have a lot of power, the other Celestials were not allowed to help him in the past. Their only rule was to make sure he didn’t get involved and that he didn’t get killed by a Terrestrial. That is why they panic so much.

Another note, People with partially Celestial souls like Jay are extremely rare, and some have stronger souls than others letting them see the different planes. Those with strong enough souls can interact with the two planes, which the Celestials find to be very helpful for when they want to help protect a person but are unable to manifest in the human world. These people sometimes act as messengers and communicators between worlds, but are usually not ones to advertise their abilities. Again, those who actually can interact with both planes are even more rare than Celestial-Human souls. Those with stronger souls are also targeted a lot more, which is why Jay made it all the way till meeting Tim and the others without ever being attacked by a Terrestrial.

So, what happens now? How did he get saved? What caused the time looping?

A phoenix decided to help him and give him what’s called a “blessing”. 

Whoa, whoa, whoa, another large and important piece of lore? Yep.

Different creatures can give what is called a blessing to a person, normally it barely affects them (ex: a little bit more good luck, passion for helping others, stealth and ability to hide crimes easier, more strategic mind, etc.), but because Jay already had a special soul used to reach out through the planes to help people, this is what caused him to gain his wings with the blessing from the Phoenix.

Blessings are typically small things that just boost another trait or part of a person. Some Terrestrials use their blessings to help make more chaos and increase damage, others don’t really care. The same thing applied to most creatures. Some care about giving their blessings out to peoples, others don’t. (Another note: a person can only have one blessing at a time, and the creature that blesses them can only bless 5 people total)

Jay’s soul cannot take blessings like a normal person’s soul, because it is a mix of human and celestial. When growing up, he always had a passion for helping others more than himself, and this was the minor influence of his soul. His powers were relatively weak though, and the only thing that actually occurred around others was that he had a stronger sense and ability of empathy and helping people through different event or what they were dealing with. He could’ve strengthened his powers to get them stronger and to possibly protect himself more, but because his parents refused to tell him he had no idea his soul was any different.

When the Phoenix gave Jay his blessing, it strengthened his soul, which let him gain more of an immunity to The Operator and other demon’s abilities/effects on humans (but only after he built an immunity to it himself. Before he wasn’t able to have any immunity at all. Think of it like someone who never had an immune system finally getting one). 

Because his soul was different, it could also warp the blessing to get certain things out of it. As a result, he gained his Green Jay wings (due to both the Phoenix and his mother being winged Celestials, also a small pun on his nickname), a stronger empathetic ability (now he can pick up on other’s emotions easier, but unknown to everyone for a while, they can pick up and feel his emotions. This can be dangerous in the fact that his negative emotions can end up hurting those around him by making them feel this way too. It’s small enough to where people can tell it’s not theirs if they focus but strong enough to be able to be felt), and is now able to touch (and if he used enough strength, harm) other demons (The energy drawback is extreme, especially if not trained or strengthened and if he attempted to kill a demon it would also result in him dying too as of right now). The other aspects that he got were a result of the warping of the blessing (claws, eye changes, markings, etc.) as a means to protect himself now that more Terrestrials will be targeting him. 

When Jay finally starts strengthening his powers, he’ll be able to start helping fend off The Operator (along with other Terrestrials) and he will be trying to help protect the other members of the Marble Hornets crew from the Terrestrials too (most won’t target his friends, though, they’ll only go after him. His friends would be considered collateral damage).

So, where does the time loop come into play?

A lot of lore suggests that Phoenixes are able to rebirth themselves in a fire, and because Jay was blessed by a Phoenix he is now stuck in a time loop until he can save all his friends and himself. (Remember, this is also a result of the blessing warping because of his soul. It was to benefit him in the largest way it could, and his last wish before he died was to help save his friends)

Now that we’ve gotten most the lore out of the way, let’s get onto the recap of what’s happened so far in this blog.

Jay was shot, got his powers/blessing, and woke up on March 23rd, 2006 with the Green Jay wings and an open bullet hole.

The bullet hole won’t bleed out or kill him, it’s more of an irritant than anything. It still hurts him, and will bleed non-stop (increases if his heart rate elevates). He ends up trying to clean it up and bandages it. (If his heart rate increases and he bleeds more, he has to change the bandages sooner than normal to prevent staining. He hasn’t mentioned much about the bandages on purpose, because he’s nervous and honestly terrified of the entire situation surrounding the bullet hole.)

He started this blog as a way to log any information he finds, along with having reference in case his memory was removed again. He refused to go over and create a new Twitter or YouTube account because he knew Alex had watched the previous videos, and he really didn’t want to risk Alex or any of the others seeing that.

He has both his old phone and the phone that lets him access the Tumblr. The other phone is the same as his phone he had when he was shot, but due to some timeline difficulties it has the date as May 27th, 2020 (aka the start date of the blog!). He finds out that he is unable to connect the phone to his camera/camcorder that he bought and is hesitant to risk it with anything else (they glitch and crash, any footage or pictures on the old devices will become corrupted and useless).

Because he’s back in time, that also means he had to start adjusting himself back into the routine he had before the Marble Hornets fiasco. No one remembers what happened and the only people he currently has contact to is Alex, Seth, Tim, and Brian. Alex knew him as a friend since middle school, Seth is more of an acquaintance of his known through Alex. Tim and Brian he now has contact to because of the Marble Hornets castings. He has not tried getting contact with Jessica or Amy yet.

Within the first couple days, someone sent in some code to mess with him. He then started being on guard for any sign of TTA or The Operator, even though he doesn’t think it was them.

He then goes to class after a while and another classmate sees his wings. They asked him if he was cosplaying for an even or something, and even though he had no idea what it meant he just said yea. They complimented the realistic style of them and went about their day. Jay had no idea previously that he had his wings or other physical changes.

He had felt something weird on his back, but due to being recently thrown back in time he was so focused on trying to seem ‘normal’ he didn’t realize he had the few things that literally scream “somethings not right”. That is how he finds out about his wings and other features. He has managed to hide them, but he hasn’t revealed how. He stops posting for a while even though he said he was going to send out an update post with a breakdown of what he knows (and wants the public to know)

After around 3 or 4 days, Jay finally posts again and says he woke up in Rosswood with no memory of getting there or any memory past posting that text-post. He later says he’s starting to regain the memories but they’re blurry and he can’t understand them. He also couldn’t remember clearly what happened leading up to him being shot at first, but even though he doesn’t say it that’s something that is included in the returning memories. 

He notes that when he woke up there seemed to have been a struggle, but he is still unsure what caused that. He doesn’t think it was Masky or Hoodie, but he’s still keeping a look out for them now too.

After that, he posted the pictures of his camcorder that he had tried hooking up to his phone to transfer the pictures, but it was completely black due to the resulting glitch. He then posted a couple hours later the picture of the screen working and say that he finally got it working again but was hesitant to try connecting his phone to it again.

He currently doesn’t know if he has a masked state or not (hint: he doesn’t. But that doesn’t mean Skully isn’t going to make an appearance later on!) and that resulted in him being on the look out for any suspicious masks too.

His next post is him saying he’s nervous about the auditions that are the next day, and he that he knows he can’t try asking Alex to cancel the film because it would seem even more suspicious. (Alex is already very concerned because of the days of silence and the sudden “cosplay” that someone saw him in, but hasn’t said it outright)

After someone suggested it, he decided to try convincing Alex at the end to go with Tim and Brian to Applebee’s (and he ended up getting dragged along as well). He also complains because the auditions were set to go from 11 am to 7 pm, and he really didn’t want to leave the blog alone for so long when he had also just recently lost his memory. He goes, tries posting a little bit, but then Alex got curious and he had to stop.

The same person who suggested that, though, put emphasis on Jay’Bird’, making him concerned and suspicious because he hadn’t said anything about the changes (and he still hasn’t! He’s really nervous to say it in case the others see).

Marble Hornets auditions were March 30th, 2006. That was when he finally got contact with Tim and Brian, but his behavior was noticed by Alex and he’s been asked multiple times if he’s okay. They both know he’s not, but Jay hasn’t told anything to Alex. (Can you guess what tipped Alex off? Hint: it’s something that some trauma victims experience)

Later, the person who suggested taking Alex to Applebee’s explained they thought it was some nickname irony or something, which he said he understood. He also noted he forgot how fast some of you guys were at figuring things out or making theories/cracking codes. He also goes on to explain a little more about the changes his body has but stay away from anything bird related.

Someone asked why he was being so secretive with the other changes and notes that if it can be passed off as cosplay it shouldn’t be that big of a deal. His response is basically “have you even seen some of the cosplays out there???”. He goes on to say that even though cosplay wasn’t as big back then there were still some extremely large and complex ones out there, and basically gives away that the changes are large enough to be extremely noticeable and that the smaller ones probably weren’t actually noticed by the student who asked him.

Someone also asked if he was planning on telling the others, and he said that he wasn’t going to yet. He really doesn’t want to show anyone the phone and is hoping no one sees or notices the changes in appearance/behavior.

He also explains a little bit later about the changes and there are some that can come on command but none of them can be affected by him wanting them to go away (meaning, if they showed up around the others then he can’t force them to go away. He can make them appear at his will, though!)

When someone asks if he has something like bird wings, as a joke, he just says “No comment”. 

His next text-post just says “It’s so hot out here I feel like I’m dying oh my god

After that, all the code is released and that’s pretty much everything that’s happened and been revealed so far.

Also, a note: remember that you guys all can affect how the story goes! There are some plot points that will happen no matter what, but it’s determine by when, how soon, and if it’s bad or not by you guys. If you’re confused, you’ll understand what I mean later on, don’t worry ;)

Yes, that IS his last name. Residing in the busy city of Auriga, Carson is a music connoisseur while his views and takes on the world are rather cynical, ever since the tragic death of his parents whom he lost in a brutal car accident when he was only four years old. The leader of the wisps, unfortunately for him. The main man!!

Margie Spellwinder

Margie is from a long, esteemed line of proud witches. She is to inherit the great Spellwinder name!..... That is, if she can even be a proper witch to begin with. Although very gifted with magic, she doesn’t know exactly how to wield it. Margie hails from southern Astraeya, her abode not far from the Witch’s Hamlet. She often fizzles simple ember spells or ends up blowing up her household with potion brews. Either way, she’s determined, and isn’t about to give up! But she could take a break from the constant malfunctions. Constantly anxious, and has a deeper past than first anticipated.

Hitoshi Spirit

Ironic as it is, Hitoshi Spirit is a samurai who has traded in his soul for incredible strength and stamina during a tolling war that took place in Hiragashi, a coastal town in Eastern Astraeya. Now he remains a husk of a man. Still, he is able to feel and experience emotions despite having traded away his spirit. But he is often cold and heartless, not feeling pity for cowards who beg for pity. And somehow, he ended up in a group with a pessimistic music maker, a failing witch, and a bossy, immature guardian spirit. Enjoys the simple things in life, like fishing and painting.

Willow Wispy

Willow is a guardian spirit that, as her name suggests, can control fire and ashes. However being such a small, insignificant spirit, she believes she’s a long-forgotten goddess who has magnificent power (which is proved time and time again to be false by her team). She showed up beside Carson one day, promising to protect him through his compelling journey. Though he pushed her away a lot, being the independent person he is. Has a lot more to her than meets the eye.

Akio Hinode

Appearing to be an ordinary man at first, it is later revealed that he is actually the last remaining kitsune to live. He hails from the small Kitsune Village hidden deep within the Woods of the Lynx. Due to his species being doomed, he has grown bitter and cold from the world, especially towards humans since they are the very things that killed his people. To make their lives as miserable as possible, he pulls pranks and tricks, lies and steals, anything to inconvenience them as much as possible. Be wary - his bright and cheery persona is only a mask for a darker and cold man.

Ichika Gakusha

An avid historian that hyper-studies any subject that catches her eye, to ignore the depression of her family neglecting her for her entire life. Her current obsession is the kitsune people and their past culture, trying to recover and learn about them ever since they went extinct. Little does she know that there IS one living kitsune, who happens to be afraid of her possibly exposing his existence to hunters. Incredibly intelligent, but oblivious to what’s in front of her.

Julian Lores Draconia

Kindhearted prince and sole heir to the throne of Draconia, the kingdom ruled by dragonblood. Despite loving his father for treating him kind all his life, he knows that he’s been slipping away bit by bit, and that one day, he will become a threat to the people of Astraeya. With this knowledge, he defects from the kingdom for a time and joins the main group to restore peace to the world. Due to the draconic blood flowing through his veins, he slowly transforms into a dragon, and cannot revert back to his human self unless using a scale tonic or a magic spell. Has a bit of a crush on Margie.

Faenar Mysticus

For thousands of years, elves, fairies, and fae alike have been known to reject any species that were not their own, having strict rules on what can and cannot be done, and overall are unfriendly, unkind beings. Not Faenar. Absolutely not Faenar. He is the nicest, kindest, most gentle elf in the entire world, and comes from the Treetop Sanctuary, a large settlement of elves in the Woods of the Lynx. Taking Margie in when she was small and frail, he deemed himself her older brother and pretty much everyone else as his little siblings. His mother, an elvish council member, desperately wants him to stop dragging her through this trouble, but has honestly given up at this point.

Dreezna Elfenstof

Dreezna is one of the fairies that reside in the mystical Verdwaald forest, home to the fairies of Astraeya. The queen of fairies, Titania, knew what must be done, and had sent Dreezna away to find the Wisps (the main group), knowing she is among the souls. Despite her pessimistic personality at first glance, she is a person of pure heart, as a healer in Astraeya cannot be one unless their heart is kind and pure. Pines over Viviane hard.

Viviane Samaka

A mermaid from the underwater kingdom of Lu’Lu’, who advocates for the truce between land dwellers and sea creatures, she has a bright outlook for the future, and is unknowingly one of the Wisps. Like other mermaids, she has the sacred ability to entrance a person with her singing voice, though she must be careful not to hypnotize one of her one friends. Pines over Dreezna hard.

Mo

Mo (short for Mother Life) is the long-since-forgotten goddess of Astraeya, the creator of the entire world. Don’t be fooled by her young, childlike appearance - she is wise when it counts. Though she provided everything for the people, they still disliked her, angry that she didn’t accommodate their every need (though they weren’t exactly aware their caring goddess is a literal child). She one day mysteriously disappeared after the Gigas Disaster, which crumbled Astraeya’s old society. Whether she’s dead or ran off, nobody in the world knows.

Nightmare

A literal blob of evil black goo, Nightmare is the cause of the Gigas Disaster and the main antagonist of the story. He was born of the hatred and malice of the eight lesser elemental gods’s war. Though I may draw him with a form, the truth is he has no real form, and can only can have one by inhabiting a vessel, a person chosen among his followers. Hasn’t been seen physically for thousands of years, as he disappeared when Mo did, but threatens to return to end Astraeya once and for all.

Slug Prophet

Yes. You heard that right. Slug. Prophet. Born around the the same time Mo created Astraeya, they are a sea slug gained sentience, and gifted with the power of foresight. Mo often came to them in the past for advice and help, but has long since lost relevance and now hangs out in a damp, musty cove by the ocean, eating plankton-algae soup and doing....whatever they do in their free time. Primordial being, on the same level as Mo herself.

Sakura

A totally uninteresting and non-relevant elf lady from the forest, a total nerd and dweeb. She uses magic I guess, but honestly what’s the point, because she is just there. Mostly for background. Created To The Wisps as a fun little comic project on the side but it accidentally became real and she’s powerless to stop it. If you see her, ignore her, she will eventually go away.

Appearance

Azusa is a short woman with a dark complexion, lean yet slightly muscular build, long dark brown hair with the bottom piece tied together by a red bow, and red eyes. Over her right eye, she appears to have a large scar. She often wears a half face mask and neck bandages to cover scars.

Despite appearing around her early 40s, she’s often mistaken to be a woman in her early 20s (ZKC).

Personality

Azusa is a woman with a suave, extroverted, enthusiastic, and confident personality. On the surface, she appears to be rather businesslike; smug; and polite character who is often seen smiling no matter what situation she’s in and sometimes does a greeting bow towards friend or foe.

She appears to have a soft spot for books and board games, with chess being her favorite one to play. She also seems to have rather sophisticated yet expensive taste in many things as she’s seen collecting very old typewriters, eating at formal dining restaurants, and buying rather refined clothing.

Azusa is also known to be rather sharp-witted, being very intelligent and capable of completing tasks in a practical manner.

Despite those things, being a member of P.A.N.D.R.A; Azusa is described to be rather dangerous. She is very sinister, bloodthirsty, and can be quite sadistic at times which she shows towards her foes as she isn’t afraid to shed blood with a wide grin on her face. Like Hyoubu, she tends to mask her saddened or angered emotions with a smile or confident smirk.

During battle, Azusa tends to tease or taunt her opponents and seems to boast a lot of self-confidence when fighting or when completing tasks to a point of arrogance. She’s also rather remorseless towards her enemies showing no qualms in hurting or killing those who stand in her or Hyoubu’s way.

She’s also quite cunning and tends to use rather ruthless methods to achieve her tasks. Azusa is also a very ambitious individual. She also appears to hold a strong grudge and disgust for humans due to her treatment by them in the past.

Despite these things, Azusa is kind and polite towards P.A.N.D.R.A, especially towards Hyoubu who she loves to bits and is very loving as well as caring towards him. She is also described to a loving and caring parental figure towards her kids and the Esper children who were taken in by P.A.N.D.R.A. Due to being rescued by Hyoubu around her early 20s, Azusa has sworn absolute loyalty to him.

Though usually confident, Azusa has also shown sadness and even fear/concern from time to time.

Aside from books, Azusa happens to take a strong interest in vampires and has a tendency to use her illusion ability to surround herself in bats, is obsessed with bats, drinks blood (though only from Hyoubu), can transform like a vampire, reads anything about vampires, and wears clothing that reminds her of vampires. Some find this endearing or strange. Her obsession with vampires and her ability has lead her to being called a ‘Vampire’ by Yō Fujiura and ‘Wannabe Vampire’ by Kōichi Minamoto. She also seems to take a strong interest in fox and kitsune lore.

Despite being able to speak, she rarely ever does towards anyone except Hyoubu, expressing that she only feels comfortable speaking towards him. Towards others, she often speaks through body expression/gestures, sign language, writing, and facial expressions.

In the past, before meeting Hyoubu and before becoming more open towards P.A.N.D.R.A; Azusa was described to be a lot more pessimistic. Thanks to help of Hyoubu and P.A.N.D.R.A, Azusa has opened up.

Background

At a young age, Azusa and her parents were victims of esper trafficking in Japan where she would eventually be bought in the Black Market by an unknown organization of normals who often used espers for their own personal gain and often treated espers inhumanely, often making espers their assassins and usually made their espers wear Limiters to suppress their powers. Azusa was valued by the organization due to her abilities and being a Level 6 esper which are the second highest level espers. However, she was treated poorly and only saw her as a tool of destruction. When they didn’t need her on certain missions, she often sported Limiters. Azusa disliked being treated by normals as nothing more than a mere tool.

On her 20th birthday, Azusa and her group of friends turns their back against the normal comprised organization and uses her abilities against them, killing many of the normal members in the process. She tells the espers within the organization that she is the Leader of The House of Bloodletting Foxes and their goal is rescue espers from humans, even if it meant killing humans in the process.

After Azusa’s escape, she and her group would eventually go into hiding while saving espers from humans where she and her friends would be caught up in an esper/normal conflict where she was nearly killed by normals and lost all of the Bloodletting Dogs members in the process until she was saved by Hyoubu and PANDRA, an organization comprising of only espers who offer her a home for only espers and dream of creating a world where espers will live with rights as well as freely. Hearing about Hyoubu’s offer and having nowhere else to go, she joins the organization and over time, grows very close to them and isn’t treated as a tool like the previous organization.

Future Azusa Predictions (ZKC Only)

1. Azusa is said to have sided with the espers who are fighting against humans, being responsible for countless deaths in the process. Even though not every esper is seen fighting against the humans, many of them are seen with Azusa.

2. Azusa supposedly watches over a small group of espers and supplies them with dangerous weapons.

3. While Azusa’s title known as the Sovereign of Darkness is not as well known as The Queen of Catastrophe (the now 20 year old Kaoru Akashi who supposedly had defected from Babel in the future and leads PANDRA due to Hyoubu’s worsening health conditions), her name is still feared upon by many for the blood shed she has caused.

4. By the war, Azusa has reached her mid forties (around 44-45 years old).

5. During the war’s initial stages, Azusa’s original parasol is destroyed and is seen with a new parasol instead.

6. It’s unknown whether Azusa survived or died in the war.

7. Due to her masks being destroyed, Azusa wears bandages over her eye. She also sports a different outfit.

8. Azusa kills Bullet Silver during an air raid.

Powers & Abilities 

* Umbrakinesis: Azusa is able to manipulate darkness/shadows. So far, she’s capable of animating  shadows, solidifying darkness/shadows into things; objects; and beings, create a kitsune-like monster out of shadows, infuse  darkness onto anything she touches, turn her body into darkness, create a darkness shield to temporarily protect herself; others; and objects in psychic darkness from telepathy/psychokinesis/ and psychometry, and manipulate matter with darkness and her shadow.

* Hypnosis: Azusa is shown to create and manipulate deceiving illusions that effect the five senses. Her illusions dissolve into swarms of bats when deactivated or attacked. It’s also shown that her illusions can be durable as they can take hits for a certain period of time before wearing off.

* Metamorphosis: Azusa can turn into a fox. It’s also shown she has a half fox form as well.

* Teleportation: Azusa is able to teleport herself, matter, and objects by using shadows/darkness as a catalyst.

Azusa’s most dynamic relationship is with Kyousuke Hyoubu.

Both of them being a dynamic duo who love each other to bits. Being Hyoubu’s wife and a high ranking PANDRA executive, she’s very close; loving; and loyal towards him and tends to listen to his orders without question. She absolutely loves Hyoubu to bits and tends to worry about him a lot, especially when Hyoubu is injured, to the point if Hyoubu were to get hurt by an enemy; she’ll lash out at the person without mercy.

Both of them show to have a loving relationship as they often enjoy each other’s company, love to spend time together, work extremely well together, and are especially dedicated to each other.

Other than being a loving and dedicated couple, they are known to be a powerful partner in crime duo. Both work well when doing crimes and on the battlefield, where they’re shown to have synchronized fighting style.

Out of all the characters in Zettai Karen Children, Azusa has expressed that she only feels comfortable speaking towards Hyoubu. Due to being saved by Hyoubu from being killed, she has sworn absolute loyalty to him and is thankful for Hyoubu for saving her from her dark past. She also expresses a softer side towards Hyoubu.
