Hey guys! What’s a surprising or little-known fact about your F/O that even people familiar with their story probably wouldn’t expect? Bonus points if it sounds made-up! <3

THIS ISN'T COMMON KNOWLEDGE BUT SHOULD BE...ABOUT MEDICAID....
If you ever find yourself in the position of living in the home of a parent who is disabled and requires full-time care and you are their primary caregiver for at least 2 years, and they intend to leave their assets to you after they pass, make sure to transfer ownership of their assets, home/land in your name ASAP...or they will require you to pay back any benefits received and claim those assets even out from under you, as soon as your loved one passes. This is yet another way that generational assets /wealth are easily taken out of marginalized communities. It is a loan.
And the sharks circle as soon as your loved one passes. Here's an article about it:
Decided to add context. I don't like to talk about it here, because ehh, social media is for my vapid entertainment thoughts for me. It's a hobby/getaway/ place to get semi-social with strangers and online friends with shared interests, but I don't want anyone else to go through what I am... Of course, this applies specifically to the U.S.'s broken healthcare system. So, for those who don't know, my mom passed recently. I am an only child with no siblings or children. My whole life during that time was 24/7 care. She had insurance, but it wasn't enough to cover everything that she needed, so Medicaid was the obvious solution, right? The government takes care of our disabled elderly who have worked until retirement, right? It seemed like the routine thing to do, I had never heard anything during the process about having to pay it back, but sure enough, less than 12 weeks after her passing, I was hit with a warning (which I followed up on and was told I would NOT be charged because of my caregiver status) and then 2 weeks later the "bill". The lady I spoke to, totally changed her attitude from the first time I spoke to her to the point where I felt scammed. Out came a patronizing voice certain people use with children, that measured whiny thing (it's always a red-flag to me and makes me instantly dislike you if you do this even with kids, btw... speak to kids like PEOPLE). I feel like an idiot. I have been doing this for over a decade and didn't think to transfer any assets of hers during that time because it *was* hers. I wanted her to feel as empowered about that as possible.
Not a single soul said I should transfer those assets to keep this from happening and now I'm facing down what feels like some kind of weird conspiracy to take the land and house.
FYI, there have been weird inquiries, the census came to mark down my mother's death literally *immediately* after she passed...and odd timing called the day of the notice to "help", with all the southern Christian signifiers (bless your heart we'll be praying for you).... It feels so seedy. Anyway, all this to say if you find yourself in a similar position....
TRANSFER THOSE ASSETS INTO YOUR NAME 2 years into caregiving or they will take them from you, house etc..

seeing how Atsushi was in the orphanage his whole life, I bet he went absolutely crazy for train stamps; like taking Ranpo out to the train and noticing the stamp booth and asking 'whats that?' and Ranpo explaining the system and Atsushi immediately buying a notebook to get his first stamp! (he downloads the app for the local line stamps which offer digital stamps) then him freaking out that the metro does stamps as well?? cue him always agreeing to go out with Ranpo and the other Agency members taking him along and bringing a page of the train stamp if they ever leave Yokohama without him

MORE JEAN POSTS aside from being controlled by, you know, the mafia, he is absolutely under control from being dependent on the Moriyamas to interact with the world! He does not know how much things cost! Like! Does he know he technically needs to file taxes on his scholarship?

the fucking insane and inscrutable rituals my dad and I just had to perform to save my TV from its own bad software update to the point that it looked like a complete hardware breakdown. may whoever decided that TVs should need internet access to regularly update itself lest you end up in a 'oh so you won't have 'download new updates automatically' enabled? well well... that's your own choice of course... but........ be a shame if something............ unfortunate were to... happen...... because of that choice... hehe old papa LGTV just worries about you, y'know. as your good friend and pal. just hate to think of you unhappy like that because you wouldn't allow one such simple thing... something so easy to remedy....' mafia-esque situation step upon an unbroken path of legos for the rest of their fucking life

Navigating in Sisters, Brothers, and Kouzin Thoughts
I’ve too often witnessed people of color, especially young free spirits, lose themselves in the romanticism of Western intellectualism, without ever pausing for real critical self-examination.
Experiencing Knowledge Consciousness and a Life of Freedom
Being a Black woman in the world of knowledge, art, research...is not just an intellectual journey. It is an act of life.
When we enter the realms of knowledge, we must remember these structures were shaped by centuries of colonialism, Eurocentrism, and appropriation.
Too many ignore or downplay it: Western systems of knowledge and the hybrid systems in other regions of the world affected by colonialism and imperialism were constructed on the objectification, devaluation, and intellectual and symbolic plundering of colonized peoples. This applies to humanities, social sciences, sciences, arts, etc.
So, we, the impacted peoples, face two choices:  Embrace the imposed rules and try to "succeed" in a system that was never meant for us...Or: deconstruct, rethink, and re-inscribe our voices, heritages, and worldviews. For ourselves, and for those to come.
Not to blindly adhere to the supposed neutrality of these systems, but to enter a posture of critical lucidity, reappropriation, and reconstruction. this isn't a rejection of knowledge, it's its elevation.
Believing in Solitude... But Creating Alliances
Yes, it’s a lonely road. Because free thinking is marginalized. And even more so when it comes from brilliant, unruly women who refuse to re-center the world on Europe.
But reading those who thought before us, from their bodies, their stories, their languages, their lands, is a strategy for survival, and more importantly, a strategy for transgenerational alliances.
I think of Black, Caribbean, African, Afro-descendant, Indigenous women… and our brothers and “kouzin”: Those who thought from their geo-philosophies. Those who paved intellectual paths so we could inscribe our own.
Bell Hooks. Erna Brodber. Zora Neale Hurston. Rex Nettleford. Sylvia Wynter. Ochy Curiel. Gina Athena Ulysse. Stuart Hall. Françoise Vergès. Juliette Sméralda. And so many so many others.
Participating in the Deconstruction of Cultural Seduction
I denounce, without hesitation, the romanticization of the cultures that have dominated people inside or outside circles of reflections.
Too many people of color end up adopting the codes of the white poet, the white intellectual, without questioning the political and historical foundations of those codes.
And eventually, they dissolve into a world that will never fully recognize them.
“It’s like stepping out of yourself and wanting to forget who you are.”
Knowledge must be a tool: a tool to reinforce the agency of those who’ve been too long pushed to the margins.
To speak of education, autonomy, transmission… is to make knowledge a tool for concrete liberation.

someday americans on this site are going to have to reckon with the fact that, comparatively, their education system actually isn't that bad, they just live in and (happily) perpetuate a culture of ignorance

I'm intrigued by Your Charname and Dynaheir ship, tell me more about them! How did their relationship develop, how do You picture her reacting to the news that Charname is a bhaalspawn?
There are so many things! I have to start out with the fact that I prolong the time between bg1 and bg2, so I give them about two years insted of technically the duration of bg1 almost exclusively and that my Charname is non-binary/trans and very Queer and uses He/Him and They/Them pronouns.
I like to think that it was really slow process, both of them just observing and figuring each other out from a distance, noticing things like nervous ticks, habits and things like that. (this is before finding out about the Bhaalspawn thing)
After finding out, everything comes to a halt by my Charname because feelings about being a monster and evil, etc... And they distance from the whole group.
I have a scene in my head that when my Charname reads the letter from Gorion he literally rans away to a watchtower of Candlekeep where he used to hide when he was a kid and was upset. There is where, with Imoen guiding her, Dynaheir finds him and console them. They have a big talk where MOST things are revealed, mostly that they very genuinely care for one another and that given all the good deads they have done on his command Dynaheir doesn't think he's inherently evil and that his actions are more important than the blood running through him.
There's still a lot of doubt in my Charname's mind, about what it truly means to be a Bhaalspawn and if Gorion actually cared for him. Though this last one is kind of nonsensical even if at the start Gorion mostly saw them as a project for the Harpers but grew to care for him like a son.
From there it's just time, they kill Sarevok and stay in Baldur's gate for a bit. They help out around, when the dust is settled and most issues caused by Sarevok are fixed they start adventuring again.
How the actually get together is bit tricky for me, I don't think either of them are much for such a big declaration, though with Imoen pushing them my Charname could.
It's like an open secret, everyone knows but most don't want to interfere.
I've played around with the idea of one night when my Charname is on watch duty, Dynaheir can't sleep at all. So she comes out of her tent and they sit by the fire in sleepy silence for a bit. After a while they start talking about tomorrow's plans and routes to take, but when Dynaheir yawns and is very clearly too tired my Charname gives her some herbs to help her sleep (Given to him by Jaheira because of his nightmares and dreamless nights) It acts so quickly that he has to help Dynaheir back to her tent and tucks her in.
In her sleepiness Dynaheir makes him stay for a bit, holding him down with her demanding him to stay and even lay with her, he agrees though a bit reluctant and when he thinks she's asleep he tenderly confesses while caressing her face.
After that he accidentally falls asleep and for the first time ever has a very normal and happy dream.
The next morning is a bit awkward, given that Dynaheir vaguely remembers the whispered words and that they woke up cuddling together. After being pushed some more by Imoen, she thinks they did more than sleep, they go to a clearing near water and talk about "it". That's when they get together.
AHHH!! This is so long already! Sorry for any grammatical errors, I'm half asleep and English isn't my first language, I wish I could get my insanity into better words.

Part 1/3 the Tal'darim
Part 2/3 the Khalai <- you're here Part 3/3 the Nerazim
Part two of this ask, the Khalai
Tumblr media
Erzadar. Formerly Erzolun (Because I have another Khalai OC named Talizun and I thought the names were way too similar) First concept was from 2022 (can be seen on the far bottom right of the art compilation) She was originally a tiny researcher from the Shelak tribe (??? I think??) Erza and her team of Khalai protoss were essentially Auir’s equivalent to Shakuras’s delegate team of Nerazim/terran diplomats/researchers/whatever.
She (and all the OCs from this story) were in kind of a limbo as they laid forgotten high on a metaphorical shelf of my mind, collecting dust, while I played with other OCs and stories. Until I was *this* video like half a year ago (no, it is not a Rickroll) and was like oh my god. oh. not to be a lesbian but oh my god. oh my fucking god Jesus Christ- we all know the meme.
Anyway, since then she became a tall, beefy adept.
She’s still mostly in development and therefore there’s not much to say about her. She’s a former zealot (became an adept during the events of LotV) With a friendly personality in a way only people in their early 20s have. She was assigned as a bodyguard/guide to the Dominion delegates Auir hosts and quickly becomes friends with most of them, namely Victor. And yes, I absolutely do plan to drag these two through months and years of delicious angst and yearning and denial and more angst before I allow them to become a thing. Their fault they’re my OCs.
Tumblr media
Talizun is also a character who I’ve had for a looooooong time too (2018????? Before 2020) but I never really fleshed him out despite his key importance to the plot of Zhakul’s story. He didn’t even have a name until late 2021 ahaha oops. Most of his story was also conceived that year, meaning it’s pretty outdated and also prone to change in places, but I think it’s skeleton will remain.
Tali is a chill templar from a fringe Khalai colony so far away from the empire that it was entirely excluded from the great war that took place during the events of SC2. Him and many of his templar brethren were in stasis for centuries, only awakened AFTER the war was concluded, which is also the reason why he still bears his cords and is tethered to the Khala. (One of the big changes in this AU, aside from Shakuras not exploding and the Daelaam not being a thing anymore, is that the Khala prevails. This could be a separate yap session for later, I’m just making this clear now in case someone is confused over me mentioning it)
Anyway. He’s very chill and level-headed for a zealot, which actually came in handy because Zhakul needed to do some serious deconstructing of the bullshit Dal filled his head with and Tali was up for the job. The two end up bonding over a similar experience (being removed from protoss society for so long they feel like complete outsiders) become friends and eeeeeeeeeeventually form a Zhakul-centred polycule that also includes Jake and various other terrans and protoss.
Tali eventually gets himself killed in a border skirmish with the Tal’darim (originally it was Y’rash that yeeted him, now I’m not sure that’s canon anymore) he’s stuffed into the shell of a dragoon and does his best to continue with his life as well as he can, which is made much more complicated because he ends up having an oopsie baby (who we will also talk about later) and from then on struggles with the crushing feeling of knowing he can never be an adequate parent to them because his broken body must forever remain locked in a dragoon exoskeleton.

The Talendir Orchard Head FamilyTM
The main characters in Project Sammuro. There’s very little to say about them for now because the story they were created for is at its infancy and therefore their characters are also very underdeveloped. They’re a down-to-earth family of protoss living in rural parts of Auir, growing and harvesting sammuro fruit for it’s rich blue dye, then distributing it across the Khalai empire as needed.
The story focuses on this entire process and also works as a lightbulb moment for Victor, who realises that the strongly capitalistic society of the Dominion is very very  flawed in comparison to the more traditional, socialistic economy the protoss have where culture, tradition and the well-being of it’s people are far more important to them than profit and power.
