Quick lists of "Alternative" software/websites I use:
Firefox (as an alternative to Chrome): Especially for the ad blocking capability. Use on both Phone and Computer.
DuckDuckGo (as an alternative to Google): No longer the thing your paranoid uncle uses, now an actually good search engine with the lack of tracking being a plus.
Kubuntu (as an alternative to Windows 11): My current Linux Distro and the best for people leaving Windows for Linux for the first time. Also KDE is Goated now.
LibreOffice (as an alternative to Microsoft Office): Works with MS-office formats and is FOSS, great if you don't trust google but need office software.
GIMP (as an alternative to Photoshop) because fuck Adobe.
Kdenlive (as an alternative to Premiere) because again, fuck Adobe.
OpenStreetMaps (as an alternative to Google maps): Tends to update quicker and is more detailed because everything is done by volunteers on the ground.
Krita (Alternative to ProCreate): Great painting app.

Check it out, it's the Kubuntu pride flag. The blue and white represent KDE while the green represents the vomit I produce whenever I think about Linux.

Tumblr I trust you...
I just switched to Linux (more specifically, Kubuntu 25.04) and I previously used FireAlpaca SE as my primary art program. After switching, pen sensitivity is fucked and I've learned it's because FireAlpaca and Medibang rely on windows pen drivers, now normally I'd run it through a Bottle and activate the nessecary drivers via that bottle, but I own FireAlpaca SE through steam, so I'm not sure about how feasible or easy it is. I'm a supernoob cuz I literally JUST switched Operating Systems, so I'm asking anywhere where I think people won't tell me to run the "kill your computer" command, lmfao.
I really don't want to switch to GIMP or Krita or some other alternative, cuz the layout is so wildly different that it stresses me out LOL, is anyone willing to help me troubleshoot or help me get FireAlpaca running as intended?

This is going to sound fucking wild but the reason I'm daily driving Linux now is because my cat died.
So one of my cats died, her brother was devastated and withdrew to this space under some chairs. I wanted to join him so I dug out an old laptop and installed Ubuntu Mate on it. I was impressed with how far Linux had gone since I used it so eventually I acquired a new laptop (with a functioning battery) and installed Linux Mint on it, eventually moving to Kubuntu.
Then my main computer started demanding I upgrade to windows 11, only to tell me it couldn't, and since the support deadline was coming up I went "what the fuck" and installed Linux on my main computer.
Now I'm basically evangelical about Linux for daily use and casual computing.

I'm two seconds away from nuking my file system altogether and reinstalling Kubuntu, or just throwing in the towel and going back to Windows with my tail between my legs.
Can't get past the login screen. Put in password, everything freezes. Try logging in through recovery mode, get past login screen but now I get a black screen and a mouse cursor.
Systemctl says my page file didn't load but I can't tell if I should trust that because I'm only able to access my console through recovery mode. Also I've officially run out of spoons to deal with this.
Windows never did this shit to me. I've been enjoying Linux, but when it fails, IT FAILS.

Unfortunately, I've come to the conclusion that I am too much of a messy bitch for Arch Linux.
I tried to keep my laptop going, I really did, but I figure I just had too many conflicting packages installed, and my routine of monthly (or even longer) updates kept screwing me over.
I should have guessed when I had something like 2,000 packages to update, and a dozen conflicts. I tried my normal MO (remove the conflicting packages & dependant apps, then reinstall after the big upgrade), and another red flag came up when I had to leave it on overnight to compile AUR packages (which should have taken minutes, not hours!)
Eventually it finished. Reboot... Black screen. Couldn't even get a terminal!
Thankfully it didn't scramble the disk, so I didn't loose any data. But at this point I'm too tired to recover my install... Again. I'm giving Kubuntu a try.
Yeah, yeah, sNaPs BaD or whatever, but at this point I need system stability more than anything else.
But at least I got the distro with KDE. GNOME BAD.

Hannah Montana Linux colour palette is really fun. I'm not sure if I am able to look at it all day everyday, but is nice. I love contrasting colours.
