I had actual plans to write a sequel to love at first bite

like, I have an outline mapped out

is it good? no. does anything actually happen? not really. is it a rom-com? ehhhh.

like, I was actually going to explore themes of motherhood and fatherhood, the process of losing yourself and adapting to something you can never really be ready for, the whole whirlwind romance thing that turned serious too quick and the challenges that come from that, the difficulty of trying to be a family man when you’re fucked up and have no concept of what that actually means

and I might never have time to write it which makes me sad

sequels are never that good but like .. I miss pasta girl™️ and freak with a personal blood bank™️

also, a few months ago I was half-awake when I had a half-baked idea for a horror/psychological thriller alternate universe spin-off that I’ll absolutely never write but at the time it seemed like the best idea ever

because at the end of lafb, we learn that Lukas will help Franny find a summer internship and so I thought what if she gets sexually harassed by some frat boy turned tech douche, who likes to abuse his power over helpless interns, and she gets away or talks herself out of the situation before it turns into full assault, but she’s obviously freaked and can’t continue with the internship

and she can’t tell Gia, because Gia has high blood pressure because she’s pregnant and it’s a super stressful situation, and she can’t tell her parents because somehow it seems embarrassing to be in that situation, and there are other young women who warn her against telling anyone because they’ve profited off the situation

so she tells Lukas, who gets her another internship obviously, and she begs him not to tell anyone, but it keeps eating away at her and ..

well, long story short, Lukas kills the dude and half a dozen more like him while his pregnant wife (yes, wife) paints little ducks on the walls of their nursery

so anyway, I’m not dead

Oh my god thank you <3 I will miss them too which is why I’m not ruling out the possibility that I’ll write about them again. I just don’t want a single story to feel like it’s never ending and it just keeps going until the author runs out of ideas even after there’s been a natural conclusion—which in the case of a romcom is pretty set in stone I feel.

Thank you for asking, that is so sweet! I should take a break, honestly. And I did actually take a break for a few weeks where I barely wrote anything and then coming back to it, I was much more productive. So I don’t know. I mean, writer’s block forced me to take a break which is how it usually goes. Right now I want to focus on finishing mutually assured destruction which has been sadly neglected for months now and also finish up my Mencken one shots.
