So LTA just formed a chapter in Santa Cruz...

and I am really considering joining. I went to their fundraiser today with Jonathan and one of the girls asked me, "how do you know him?" I said, "He's my boyfriend (:" she said, "Awww that's cute, he's going to be a LTP gentlemen and you a LTA lady!"

Even though I spoke with the girls for a little bit, they all seemed genuinely sweet. 

I went to their coming out show, and it was amazing- I got the chills. After that I went and did some research and I really do like what LTA stands for. 

But I am still a bit apprehensive about it... I have a lot on my plate right now... but I need something, other than school, to be passionate about...

and I know i told myself I would never join a sorority (negative view towards them), LTA is different...

IDK, I am still working on my pro/con list (gotta love them) BUT I am going to their informational on monday and tea time with the ladies on tuesday (:

Yesterday I finally got to go to the Mosque that my sister Alexis goes to. I've been wanting to go since forever! It's Ramadan (1 month of fasting from dawn until sunset) right now, so Paola and I attended Iftar (breaking fast). I love learning about other religions and cultures, and even though I couldn't understand the prayer, it was beautiful to see and hear. I am not in a sorority.

One of the things I hold to the highest level during my college experience is my contribution to my sisterhood, or as many others call it, a sorority. We spend countless hours planning events for the student body to enjoy, we mix and mingle with other groups (Greek and non-Greek) to ensure that we are active members of the university, and as all sisters in Greekdom do, we spend time together. But why is my commitment any different that any other? When I became a member of my organization, I pledged to serve the community, to change the world around me, and to lift others up in their time of need. So when I hear someone belittle the choice I made to be a "sorority girl", I laugh, then offer this: "it is one of the most life-changing experiences I have been blessed to have and without it, I wouldn't be the person you know today." It's not just a sorority. I am a member of a community; a community that strives to be better than we are, to create a better world for our future, and to not think we are better than anyone else in the process.
