I鈥檓 slowly relearning ASL after like, a year
Only things I鈥檝e kept in my head are more and food for some reason? (I can say yes and no but like more and food are my mains) so I just catch myself randomly signing MORE FOOD aggressively 馃挃馃槶
If anyone has any tips for learning ASL please share!! :3

Does anyone have good resources for ASL? Not looking to become fluent, just some basic signs to communicate with someone.
I鈥檓 asking because I鈥檝e heard there鈥檚 a lot of misinformation on YouTube and whatnot about sign language.

i've been learning asl for the past year, i wanted to know how to speak with those in the Deaf community and unexpectedly i fell in love with it
with the ease it takes to speak it, it comes almost naturally now. but oddly, its the sounds i love most
the laughter unbridled, no fear of being heard, hands on hands on hands, the tapping of knuckles and palms together the only thing the rest of the world can understand while we paint our words in gestures. and it feels almost wrong to say i love the sound of asl
to say i appreciate something that you can't. but maybe thats what love is

Question for the deaf community as someone who is hearing but is in the beginning stages of learning how to sign (asl)
Okay so the way ive been teaching myself is by talking to myself about my dnd campaign and looking up signs for unfamiliar words
The questions i have is how do i go about making name signs for locations and fantasy things that dont have signs
And also is it okay for me to make name signs for our main characters because i know that they are often given to hearing people by deaf people and i dont want to be disrespectful to that
#oh also if there are any good asl resources then please send them my way#asl#learning asl#deaf community#learning#language#american sign language

Hey, so does anyone have any good recommendations for online places I can go to learn ASL (American Sign Language)? I've been wanting to learn but I'm not quite sure where to start and I don't just want to look up, "ASL beginner guide" on YouTube in fear of it possibly being inaccurate. So if anyone has any recs (preferably free ones), they would be appreciated!
I think ASL would be a good skill to have, especially considering how frequently I go nonverbal when stressed/when I just can't bring myself to speak, and though there aren't many deaf or hearing impaired people in my area (That I'm aware of) I still would very much like it if I could remove that communication barrier regardless because you just never know.

#learning asl#just thought it was worth sharing#even if the ASL you know is minimal#support for the Deaf community is so important#even when i was just starting my classes the Deaf people i spoke with were SO patient and just kinda general excited to see people learning#that's not always the case but i do think it's the majority of the time#Deaf people are left out of the conversation SO MUCH so it's important for them to have allies as many places as possible#and a great way to do that is by learning their language and taking courses that teach Deaf culture#anyway off my soapbox now#i think there's a similar program based on oklahoma ??? also free and web-based

i can't find that post where i was compiling them but had another good asl oopsie from my coworker:
"they didn't report an adhd diagnosis, but they are trans, so that could explain these results" (meant to say "they are autistic")
