Buck has spent the past 8 years acting like sex is taboo and wrong for him, specifically because he was Buck 1.0

In season 2, he apologizes to Taylor because he "isn't that guy anymore" after Taylor comes onto him. He has had shitty relationship after shitty relationship because he is looking for an answer in these people that he is simply never going to find in them.

I saw a post sometime ago about how Buck looks to other people to ask for reassurance in his own feelings. "Am I lonely?" "Am I at peace?" "How do you know?"

But he does this in other ways, too. He told Tommy that he feels comfortable in his own skin Because Tommy is comfortable with who Tommy is. That's just another way for Buck to find validation in what he feels.

That's why Tommy broke up with him. You can accuse Tommy of a lot of things, but he is at least self-aware. He hears Buck ask him to move in, not because Buck loves him and wants him around but because he makes Buck "comfortable," and personally, no one deserves to be kept around as a validation device.

That's what makes Tommy say Buck will break his heart. That's why Tommy leaves. It's parallel to Buck asking Taylor to move in with him. Except Tommy is older and listening to what Buck is saying.

Buck told Taylor "I thought I could learn to live with it."

and he told Josh, "I could see a future with him."

And that's where some of you got lost. He doesn't see a future with Tommy, but he thinks he could—hypothetically—because Buck wants a future with someone.

Taylor Kelly and Tommy Kinard have the same blueprint relationship with Buck. Kelly is her middle name. He was engaged to Abby. Things Buck finds out way too late into the relationship because he goes with the flow and doesn't talk to the people he dates.

Which brings me back to #LetBuckFuck. Now, sex is morally neutral. Having sex with 100 people doesn't make you a degenerate, and only having had sex with one person doesn't make you a saint. Also, neither means you have a healthy relationship with sex.

Bobby made a point to Buck that a bunch of random hook-ups wouldn't fill the whole Buck feels in his chest, and Buck internalized that to mean if he didn't have a hook-up at all, he would eventually find the thing that did fill that hole. Which theoretically could work.

Except Buck missed the part where the reason why hook-ups don't fill the hole isn't that hook-ups are bad. It is that the hole has to be filled from the things within.

The sex had nothing to do with it. Now, it's been 8 years and 5 failed relationships later and Buck is still working under a false presumption.

Some people found Oliver's call for Buck to fuck to mean he wants Buck to regress. But failed to see that Buck is actually still a stupid lil punk putting whatever fits into the square hole.

Let Buck Fuck. Let Buck realize his worth isn't in other people. Let Buck realize he can have sex, and his worth isn't tied to it AT ALL.

Stop being like Buck. Stop letting Buck's relationships define him.

I actually really like the idea of Buck doing his whole #letbuckfuck thing and the resurgence of Buck 1.0 electric boogaloo 2 bisexual edition IN EDDIE'S HOUSE . Hear me out like he's probably gonna try his best to not bring them there but maybe in the heat of the moment they just drive / take an uber right to Bucks place ( Eddie's house ) and Buck starts making out with them , it'd be like a montage of multiple partners , they'd fall onto the couch and Buck pauses for a second and looks at it thinking about all the times He and Eddie sat right there . It spurs him on . They'd take a break for air and Buck would offer them a beer and they'd go into the kitchen to grab them , Buck takes a moment and thinks about all the times Eddie grabbed a drink for him too . He'd think it'd be disconnected to anything too ludicrous . Eddie's bed would definitely be different but maybe he'd be drunk and not really thinking about it , leading a partner to his bedroom , kissing on the walls where there's overturned pictures of him , Eddie and Chris hung up that he'd flipped over so nobody thought he was somehow cheating and they'd fall onto the bed and he's inebriated so he's definitely not thinking about how Eddie's slept here . Eddie's laid here before . Eddie's had sex here . In the same spot that Buck's going to have sex . The bedsheets definitely don't smell like him either . Eddie never took his pillows with him . Eddie kept the bedroom pretty much the same , only taking his clothes and necessities . Buck's not thinking about Eddie during sex , he's not , he promises . He's being good , he's a good partner and he's attentive to them and making them cum . He thinks what Eddie would think if he knew , if he were watching , if he were the one underneath him and Buck's cumming too . happy two weeks until we are so back! to celebrate, here's a fix-it fic i just finished after starting it literally the night 808 aired in november. it'll still be canon compliant (ish) for another two weeks sooooo get while the getting's good or whatever

It’s something said by Eddie Diaz, apparently the token 100% heterosexual in the conversation, that makes the final piece click with Buck. 

As the alarm interrupts their conversation and he goes through the motions of getting his gear, he thinks back on all the flaws with his recent dates (if you can call them that). 

He needs someone who he’s in sync with, who can hold their own, and who’s just as versatile—in multiple senses of the word—as he is. Someone adventurous who can guess his preferred wine and ideally has big enough hands to pour it (though Buck’s not shallow, this one isn’t gonna be a dealbreaker again). i have no kind of reach in the 911 community so apologies for sending you this ask but i feel it’s the only way i can get this out there. as a bisexual, im a bit disgusted by the insistence that oliver’s interview was biphobic. genuinely, he is right. let bisexuals fuck! let him explore his sexuality! it is a natural part of life to want to explore your sexuality when you discover it, especially when you discover it later in life! there is such thing as bad bisexual representation, i would agree with that, but REALISTIC bisexual representation needs to STOP being labelled problematic or bad just because it is not the perfect correct perceived way to show that someone is attracted to more than one gender.

we are not perfect! we deserve to be represented in a way that is not perfect! i was genuinely HAPPY reading the article because it felt like finally my experiences of discovering my bisexuality somewhat later in life than most were being seen and represented! and i have seen others say the exact same.

in conclusion, verilybitchie on youtube has a very good video essay about why “good” lgbt representation is boring and misrepresentative of real experiences which i think is worth a watch for all these people insisting that bisexuality must be represented chastely. guys it’s possible to fuck in a way that is not unhealthy to you or the people you are with, it is a natural part of life.

I 100% agree that even tho there are instances of BAD representation, we can't just repeat perfect cardboard cutouts of "good" bisexuality arcs and declare anything else harmful. Especially when it would let Buck explore what his identity means to him but also be actually in character as a young, attractive guy that genuinely enjoys the physical part of relationships and as an extroverted person looking for connection with people. 

Fortunately, the biphobia accusations seem to be dying down, and we have Oliver in our corner, who I'm sure is going to make sure the storyline is handled with love and meaning.

The breakup itself actually has a lot of potential. The bigger issue lies in the way it was handled...constant interviews are one of the worst things to happen to TV shows.

Strongly agree. The breakup is great.* I love the breakup. It could be a deeply satisfying arc if they get back together.

After the episode ended, I was literally typing a comment in the Safe Zone saying, "It's too soon to declare defeat," before I got 911bts notifications about the interviews and saw the breakup was Final. Since then, people have rightly pointed out that the main interview causing grief a) was with an actor and b) got its tone of finality more from the writer's words than what Lou actually said.

But in the moment I was flashing back to The Magicians, when the interviews actually were the showrunners unambiguously stating the character was dead. And of course it was election week, in this emotionally charged fandom, so yeah, what a shitshow, and 80% of it comes from outside the text 🙃

*The breakup has a dozen logistical problems and I think they were lazy not to lay better groundwork, but the core issues are solid.
