Not sure I actually trust that one bc it was thick with Cocaine Bear dissing. And saying that it avoids CB traps when they gave CB a 6/10 and they gave this movie a 6.5/10. So DOAU avoided two filmmaking mishaps and it earns only .5 more on the scale? FOH

I didn't watch Cocaine Bear for anything deeper than the fact that it was based off of a true story (BASED). I wanted to see how they would tailor a story around it and they did a marvelous job.

very niche but i had a dream about this, clayton and reader having an argument and him walking out bec he doesn’t want to say something he doesn’t mean, and when he comes back home late at night he finds reader cuddled up in bed, clinging to his pillow and his heart just breaks

He is 100% the guy who goes to cool off. Like you hate it because you worry that he'll get hurt or he's on his own often at night, although even when he's mad he always sends you his live location on Whatsapp and takes his phone with him and his keys. But, he's not one to yell, shout, scream, or insult you and he doesn't want to get to the point. So if he feels like he's getting too out of control, too angry, he's 100% going to cool off before he comes back in and you both know it'll be temporary. You've never had an argument that's serious enough, it's a slight bump, a bit of turbulence that lasts an hour before it blows over. He's also good at apologising. He knows if he's in the wrong. He's not too prideful and he'll explicitly apologise. He doesn't let it be the elephant in the room. Big requests/full fic/big idea requests are closed at the moment but drabble and prompt requests are still open. Writing Masterlist

It's a stupid argument. You're upset because he hasn't invited you again to an event, he tries to argue because he doesn't want you in the limelight, doesn't want you exposed to all the comments on social media, all the cameras. You tell him you feel neglected, unimportant, shameful...and that...that pisses him of. Not because you're attacking him or anything stupid like that, but because he's pissed at himself for making you feel that way.

So he has to cool off. Has to walk out because he knows if it keeps going he'll say something impulsive, stupid, that he doesn't actually mean. You don't try to get him to stay anymore, you both know he needs this. This is something you understand about each other. He knows you'll be there waiting and you know he'll come back.

All you do is remind him to turn his location on...so he does. Straight into Whatsapp and on to the live tracker before he walks and walks...and walks some more. It gives him time to consider why he's so upset, what has him so pissed off. Time to think about how he puts so much stock, so much pride in making you feel loved, happy...and how it hurts him to know he's failing. You're right, he knows you're right because he's taken the choice from you. You never got a choice to be involved in events because he never invited you. He gets it, he'd feel like he was a dirty little secret too if you did the same. No matter how good his intentions, no matter that he's trying to protect you, he's hurting you, smothering you.

By the time he gets back he's calm, completely collected. The roiling anger isn't even a simmer, the pot is cold. He kicks his shoes off by the door, double checks everything in the house is locked up just in case before he makes his way to your shared bedroom and stops in the doorway.

You're curled up in bed, blankets pulled high around you, Lucky barely lifting his head from his bed in the corner of the room. Clay's careful, quiet as he pads across the floor to the bed, and it breaks him a little...the way you're curled around his pillow, face smushed into it like you were trying to be close to him when he had walked out. You're in one of his t-shirts, not unusual, but it feels more important now. Like a sign that you still love him even if he's an idiot.

He knows you're not actually sleeping, you can never sleep when he's walked out, as evidenced by your phone screen unlocked, his livetracker on display because you worry something will happen to him. It's why he never goes for long, tries to calm down quickly because he knows you'll be anxious, stressed, unable to sleep until he's back home.

He's gentle, careful, as he slides onto the bed behind you, arm slipping over your waist and tugging you close to him. You melt into him because it doesn't matter how angry the two of you were, what stupid things you argue about, you love him. He's home. He's Clay. He's warm and smells good and makes you feel safe.

"I'm sorry, baby." He mumbles it into your neck, kisses pressed there as he breathes you in and tangles himself up with you, like the idea of being far from you is crime.

You're voice is so small in the quiet of the room, so low like you're worried about speaking to loud...he hates it, hates that you might feel like you can't be loud with him. "I just...I know you don't mean it...but I feel unimportant when you don't want me around at events..."

He's twisting you around, hand on your hip to tug you over to face him before you can even finish your sentence. Clay's hands cup your cheeks gently, he's wide eyed and dishevelled. Hair out of place, chain dangling between the two of you, five o'clock shadow starting to come out across his jaw.

"Honey, baby, look at me?" He tilts your head up, just enough until he's peering into your eyes like he's trying to make you believe him, make you listen, "I always want you around I just...I don't want you having to deal with all the publicity, y'know? I was trying to protect you..." He looks ashamed and it's what has any remaining frustration with him melting away...because you know Clay. He loves you. He wants to protect, provide, be that rock and you know everything he does is with good intentions...you also know his apology is sincere. When he says sorry he means it. It's not a token phrase to get in your good books. It's genuine.

"What if I want to deal with all of that for you?" You don't care what people say on social media, you don't care about the press, but God, you care about being there for him. You care about being on his arm and showing the world you're a team.

"I should have given you the choice...I know. I'm sorry, I just...I love you." It's that simple. The mistakes he makes, the choices he picks, they're out of love and that's...that's more important to you than an argument, than anything else entirely.

"I can come to the next event?" Your fingers tug on his chain, folding over the cross like they belong there and in a way they do. Because he is a dog on a leash for you, entirely obedient and at your beck and call. Even if he so often doesn't act like it.

"All of them. Any of them. Whenever. However. In a burlap sack. I just want you to feel loved." and that's the crux of it, you realise as his hand rests on your throat, thumb brushing across the skin of your neck. The reason he was so upset...all because you felt neglected.

"Clay...hey, I do feel loved. I just need you to trust me too."

"I know, I know. I'm sorry, sweetheart." He presses a kiss to your temple, slow and lingering, another to your cheek, your jaw until you're smiling all soft and sweet at him.

This time when he curls around you there's no unspoken issues between you, no distance, just two people who love each other and want to live in the other's skin. Just two people who don't always get it right but are trying anyway.
