chicken update // february 18th
well i was gonna wait until i got these projects done to post an update... but between being sick and another winter storm coming in, it's gonna be a couple weeks before i can get back in to it. so here... we... CLUCK!@&&!
first off: the chicken schedule was released by the local hardware store!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
it's been out for a month, and it's less than a month before they arrive. therefore, i believe possibly maybe i have narrowed down the breeds i will be getting. i expected them to get copper marans but *blue* ones?! mando. ideal 236 is actually the only breed they're offering with white eggs, interestingly enough. which is fine - stereotypical chicken is still stereotypically cute. now... the olive eggers. i KNOW i want olive eggers... i have wanted those since i started researching chicken breeds years ago. but the hardware store threw in a curveball and added ONYX olive eggers?!?! excuuuuuse me?! goth chickens yes please!! but they will not arrive at the hardware store until april 25th, an entire month after i get the other 2 breeds. plus, i am legit worried about our hot summers just getting hotter. there's a reason i'm only gothic during the cold months (joke). normie olive eggers are available the same day i'll be getting the other 2 breeds. what do you guys think??
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
the chicken nursery aka brooder (married millennial with no kids means the name changes to nursery instead of brooder i don't make the rules) is 99% done!! couple weeks ago i built the litter box drawer that goes under the nursery from spare wood we had. it was partically molded from being outside, so i did the same bleach clean sand kilz paint job like i did for the main structure. we keep scrap wood for a reason so buying wood would just make the avrap wood pile useless. the wood for the drawer is much thicker than it has any need to be, but free is free.
the bedding is and will be shredded paper and cardboard. since we can't go shopping at atores like normies, we get a lot of boxes from deliveries so i am not worried about running out of chicken bedding.
i was nervous about a heating lamp in my craft room with the door closed most of the time, so hubs and i settled on getting a heating plate. this hesting plate has been turned on high for the past 2 weeks and no issues or fires so far. i added the bedding today and turned down the heat on the plate for another test. on high, without bedding, the area under the heating plate read at 109°F. the handkerchief is to help hold that heat in one place, and has been there since the beginning of the test. will wait and see if needed when the chickens are here.
if we had a garage then i would use a heat lamp - between a typical fire break between garage and house, then i wouldn't care. but the craft room has majority of my business stuff, and is right next to the master bedroom 😬 just not worth the fire risk imo.
my craft room is either too cold in winter or too hot in summer due to just where it is and what isn't around it compared to the rest of the house. but will keep a super close eye on them with The Chicken Nursery WebcamTM. yup, i found a very old logitech webcam we bought in the pre-2010s and are going to have it in the nursery and stream the chickens. why? see: married, childless millennials.
the only 2 things left to do on the chicken nursery brooder structure thing is to drill a hole for those two wires to exit out of instead of coming out of the top so that i can install "locks" so the top cannot be opened by the cats. the craft room door will be open when i am in the room so the cats can come and go, but will be closed when i am not in the room. even though 4 out of 5 cats are indoor only, i still want them to get used to chickens being "normal" and not "dinner."
Tumblr media
speaking of, here is my cat tax. when i was filling the bedding in the drawer, parsley was such a big help playing with the shreds that fell on the floor.
the prep work for the outdoor coop and run has begun, but only just. we did as much as we could during the false spring weather we got about 2 weeks ago. once this winter storm goes away for good, it looks like the weather will be nice again to go back to work on it. hopefully, this flu of ours will be gone by then 🫠

i dont care much about new nintendo shit theyre like one of the most opposable game companies of the current era but it’s still crazy to me that like a decent chunk of the switch 2 direct was just “hey we recreated the ps2 eye toy no it doesnt look any better, the form factor is worse, and it’s mostly for our new dedicated streaming feature we ripped from the 2013 release of the xbox one except in 2013 the xbox one had a better frame rate than anything we will ever make, but don’t worry it’s also part of a fun bonus feature on this re-release of a game that came out just a few months ago, you can pay for the game upgrade and our fragile $50 2007 logitech webcam after you pay closer to $600 than $500 for our new console after newly imposed taxes in your region. check out this 3 fps mario kart ($80) footage, YOU CAN PLAY AS A HECKING COW, clap now.”

Last Monday of the Week 2025-02-10
I do make the rules and I also enforce them
Listening: Two songs have been stuck in my head all week, #1 is I Got My Tooth Removed from 10,000 gecs by 100 gecs.
youtube
If I'm honest I've primarily had this sequence stuck in my head
My head's like a ton of bricks, but this dumb bitch still learns new tricks I fuck with fire, burn my dick, play violin on sinking ships I woke up and was down, horrendous, think I need to see the dentist
#2 and I think the theme here is "attractive use of rhythm and rhyme" because it's Vampire State off Your Majesty by Michael Guy Bowman
youtube
I know this one has featured already. As mentioned, I make and enforce the rules. I like a lot of the stupid puns in here! It's a very smug song, very self-satisfied. Also making me so badly want to get a bass guitar.
Watching: Busy week! First up Macbeth, the 2024 West End performance film release.
youtube
It has been a hot second since I have seen Macbeth although I pregamed this with the Ian McKellen and Judi Dench one from the 70's which I kind of half-listened to while making dinner.
youtube
Macbeth is not as dense with like Good Lines as Hamlet but it is tied for like, how fun it is to watch. Relies very heavily on your Lady Macbeth driving everything forward.
There's a lot of gender in here! Everyone is constantly saying whether they're a man or a woman and they're totally not lying they promise.
Also, at Bad Movie Night: Flash Gordon, which. Is not like Macbeth.
Flash Gordon has some really killer outfits! My only knowledge of Flash Gordon is secondhand through parody and I was not prepared for how all out the sets and costumes went, thank you movies.
Multiple lost technologies on display here. We don't make t-shirts that tight anymore, and we also lost this kind of big semi-earnest comedy sci-fi technology. The closest thing to this is I guess Jupiter Ascending, which is Very Tropey in a similar way but that's like, ten years old now?
Reading: Going back and forth between Pale Fire and other things, mostly the little Nabokov collection I picked up. Little to say, Pale Fire continues to be fun but in the same way as before.
Making: Printing around the house, more design stuff around the TV. Starting to work on a lapboard-ish thing. Currently I use the steam desktop mode which is very good, like, genuinely quite handy, which combined with being able to send links from my phone to the handheld is pretty much complete, but it would be nice to be able to a) type and b) play 3D games without having to learn how to use a controller. I am not a picky gamer when it comes to my keyboard and mouse, I've beaten Star Wars Republic Commando on a trackpad more than once, but I do want a mouse.
This involves figuring out what I want to do with Galena. I've run into problems! Galena suffers from "not the same kind of layout as the keyboard I type on all day at work", a problem that has two possible solutions, 1) build a Galena copy for work, or 2) build a work copy for home. I kind of like my work layout (Logitech K860) more than the strict ortho of Galena so it's possible I'm going to tear her down and rebuild her. If I do do this what I might do is figure out how to get time on the makerspace CNC mill so that I can build a swoopy complicated case out of wood, I do like having a wooden keyboard, but it'll probably at least start out as a printed project. It's also possible that much of Galena will become the lapboard and I'll build something new for the desktop.
Additionally: remembered I have that whole LED project. Got save slots working on the API and backend side of things.
Playing: Cyberpunk, I am presently in Phantom Liberty which is a very sharp change of pace, much more focussed, it feels almost like a linear campaign in many ways. Enjoying it but hoo boy that division feels artificial. It doesn't help that I basically waited until everything else was wrapped up to go there, although I am enjoying having some latitude to deploy my top level skill tree in the wild.
Tools and Equipment: I got a really really long wool coat the other day and I cannot overstate how good it is for cold weather because it covers your legs. Combined with my ridiculous chaps this is perhaps the most comfortable I've been outside all winter.

Bird’s Eye Review: Infinity Nikki
Tumblr media
Like 99% of gamers, my choice of games is pretty eclectic. I am just as at home fishing in Animal Crossing or traveling around in Pokemon as I am shooting up bandits in Borderlands or hunting the night in Castlevania. But as a general theme, I wouldn’t say I own many games that are considered “girly” these days. Not that I actively avoid them; they just generally don’t catch my eye.
Save for one exception.
A few years ago, I noticed an ad for a mobile game called Love Nikki: Dress-up Queen. A mobile game by a Chinese developer where the premise was to collect outfits to dress up your character. The art was beautiful (and this was before the arrival of AI-generated art, so I wasn’t skeptical about its origins), and the reviews tended to be favorable, so I gave it a try. I ended up playing it for about a year and a half before deleting it from my tablet—while collecting the outfits and playing in the wardrobe was fun, the story was overly complicated (a really nice way of saying it was absolutely bonkers), it was peppered with grammatical and spelling errors, and the biggest complaint amongst players, the constant arrival of new currencies. Yes, like the typical mobile game, this was a gacha game (AKA a game with a lottery element that often requires real-world money in order to pursue any substantial reward), and I got tired of the grind. I generally do not play gacha games out of principle (hence why I have yet to touch games like Genshin Impact or Honkai Star Rail), with Love Nikki being my sole exception. After deleting the game from my tablet, I let it slip from my mind amidst the chaos of the pandemic.
Then, while looking at my YouTube homepage, I saw a video by Eurogamer, talking about Infinity Nikki. This was my first time hearing about Nikki in a couple years, so I decided to look at the video and see what was going on—to me, it was odd to hear about a mobile game series on a gaming YouTube channel that didn’t really discuss mobile games. And, to my surprise, I learned that an open world Nikki game was coming very soon. My interest was piqued—how were the developers going to make a dress-up game into an open world game? But Eurogamer’s Zoe Delahunty-Light was gushing about it (and to be fair, I’m a big fan of Zoe, so I just had to hear what she had to say). Then, the game was released, and when I looked it up, I was surprised to find it was free to play. Since I was losing steam playing the Castlevania Advance Collection (sorry, but Circle of the Moon was a slog), I decided to give Infinity Nikki a try.
My first surprise was discovering a mainstream singer, Jessie J, singing the main theme. My second was seeing the first game cinematic, where the subtitles matched up to the dialogue without any errors, and the animation was smooth and sleek.
My third was, when the game allowed me to start playing, there was an option to play with a controller. I quickly grabbed my (extremely) old Logitech controller, plugged it in, and found the controls were solid and perfectly responsive. The platforming in the tutorial area was smooth. The story didn’t just drop you in without much explanation like Love Nikki did.
”Oh,” I thought, “This is different from what I expected.”
The developers had put a lot more effort into it than I thought they would for a free title. And it showed itself within the first five minutes. I found myself subconsciously smiling. It was the first time in a long time that I found myself getting sucked into a game.
Tumblr media
It’s pretty obvious that I had low expectations for this title given my previous experience with the series, but before I get too far ahead of myself (unless I already did), I’ll break the review down into a few different categories.
The Story
Tumblr media
While searching the attic looking for a dress for her graduation ball, Nikki, alongside her feline friend Momo, discovers a strange outfit hidden in an armoire. The outfit then comes to life, pulling Nikki and Momo into the world of Miraland. It’s here she meets a mysterious woman who tasks her with finding the “Miracle Outfits” in order to save Miraland and get back home.
Side note: Nikki seems to take being sucked into another world too well and I am slightly concerned.
In the world of Miraland, there are people known as “Stylists” who can use Ability Outfits to gain new skills and complete tasks—think of them as like a jack of all trades. People are always relieved to have a Stylist around. It’s refreshing that Nikki isn’t the only Stylist in the game rather than being a mysterious expert at everything like some protagonists end up being (there is in fact an entire guild dedicated to Stylists), and she always introduces herself as a new Stylist.
Not long after her arrival, Nikki learns of Miraland’s culture of wishes (at least, that seems to be the culture in this particular Nikki game; I have only played two, so I don’t know if that’s the norm), and that recently people have started falling into comas in connection with the use of “Quick Wish” bottles. Along with this, reading supplementary materials scattered around the map discuss a cataclysmic event called the Dark Fall, kingdoms at war, and clashing ideologies. It seems even in a world where textiles and fashion are a key part of the culture, there is still plenty of room for conflict. The lore of Infinity Nikki is surprisingly in-depth without feeling like a convoluted mess (which is the impression I got from Love Nikki), and it all ties together fairly neatly.
The Game
The Nikki games are, at their core, all about the outfits. Clothing pieces are split into five main categories: Sweet, Fresh, Cool, Sexy, and Elegant. There are several other abstract categories such as retro, playful, simple, etc. that don’t really play as much into clothing scores as one may expect. These categories are used as the theme in the game’s style challenges, where Nikki must face off against an NPC opponent using the theme chosen by them. The theme will always turn out to be one theme, two themes, or one/two themes and a sub-category. In these challenges, you must choose the highest-scoring items in your wardrobe matching the theme; as the challenge difficulty rises, you’ll have to level up clothing pieces using the “Glow-Up” function in the game’s main menu. And yes—by picking all your high-scoring items, you will more likely than not end up with an extremely ridiculous-looking outfit that somehow wows your opponent. It’s fashion. Do not question it.
Tumblr media
(Somewhere, Anna Wintour is inexplicably crying.)
I found the style challenges in the story mode to be a touch more lenient than the ones scattered around the map, which I think is fair. Regarding the style challenges on the map, they are required in order to face the Sovereigns of the different style categories—at the point of writing this review, the game has the Sovereigns of Cool, Elegant, Sexy and Fresh. Think of these as the style challenge boss battles.
A nice touch in this game is that nearly every piece of clothing has physics. If you put a coat over a skirt that is a bit poofier, the coat will fan out over the skirt with minimal clipping. Not to say that clipping doesn’t happen—I have a couple clothing combinations that make the shirt clip through the back of my jacket, which I solve by covering with a backpack. Your clothes will even show signs of being wet when it rains in the area, and sparkly items will catch the light.
At this point in time, the world map is split into the following areas: Florawish, Breezy Meadow, Stoneville, the Abandoned District, the Wishing Woods, and as of late January, the Firework Isles. It’s highly likely more areas will be released as the story expands, so right now, with all the main quests and side quests complete, I’ve hit a bit of a wall. More on that later.
Your primary goal (and the favorite aspect to most players, arguably) is to collect and craft as many clothing pieces as possible to make an array of outfits. The Ability Outfits will be pivotal to these goals, as many of the outfits are needed to gather certain crafting items: these outfits are Floating, Purification, Animal Grooming, Bug Catching, Fishing, Electrician, Floral Gliding, Violinist and Shrinking—the other ability outfits have something called “whimsicality,” which is simply an artful flourish. The Purification, Grooming, Bug and Fishing outfits have a second purpose—gaining Insight, which is used in the Heart of Infinity (essentially a skill tree) to further expand abilities and materials the player can collect. Initially, it’s fairly simple, but as you move into the skill trees required for the second Miracle Outfit, insight gathering can become a bit of a slog. And there is a cap to how much insight you can gain in a day, to prevent simply grinding the whole thing out at once (you do need to eat and sleep, after all). To unlock these new nodes in the Heart, you must use Whimstars, magical stars that can be found scattered around the maps similar to the Power Moons in Super Mario Odyssey. They can either be simply out in the open, require a platform-jumping or hidden-picture challenge where you must find a star shape hidden somewhere in the area, or be hidden in what are called “Armoires,” which have various puzzles one must complete to reach the star—these are similar to the shrines in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom—which makes sense, since the game director for Breath of the Wild also worked on Infinity Nikki.
Tumblr media
(Remember that this is a dress-up game.)
Other crafting components can be gained by entering the “Realm Challenges” via Warp Spires. The problem is that completing these costs “vital energy,” which regenerates over time—an artifact left over from the game’s mobile origins.
Other things that can be done throughout the maps are sidequests such as fetch quests, photo quests, quizzes and mini-games. Or if there is no real goal in mind, players can simply find a spot on the map to stop and take photos of their stylish outfits to share with other players.
Tumblr media
As mentioned in the introduction, Infinity Nikki is free to play. Because of its history of a mobile game series with lots of micro transactions, I was understandably a bit skeptical. The game, however, is very polished and fairly balanced for something free, with plenty of opportunities for rewards, frequent codes to enter for additional free currency, and some occasional sales and promotions for premium items. But premium items are not required to progress in the game.
Okay, but…
Obviously the game isn’t without its flaws. The characters, while very beautiful, do not have a particularly wide range of emotional expressions (Nikki is the most egregious example of this).
Tumblr media
(One of your friends just got very seriously injured. Slant those eyebrows just a little more, Nikki.)
The Resonance Pools, which are essentially this game’s lottery for fancier 4- and 5-star clothing, understandably don’t have very high odds for the premium item pieces (you are guaranteed one 4- or 5-star item every ten pulls), which may make people think they need to spend money to buy more Resonance Crystals to use in the pools. But for those who struggle with their finances, I reiterate that while these items are nice, they are not required to complete the game’s main story, and while yes, often there are limited-time resonances for limited-time outfits, the time periods are fairly long. I’ve found that when it comes to gacha games, this one isn’t the worst offender, as their gacha is purely cosmetic items instead of full characters like many gacha games.
Then, there’s the wall. I’ve completed the main quest and the side quests. I’ve unlocked the insight nodes in the Heart of Infinity to work on Silvergale’s Aria, the newest Miracle Outfit to be added to the game. So other than logging in to complete daily tasks and farm once a day for components for the miracle outfit pieces along with some other clothing pieces I am interested in….I’ve really not much else to do.
Overall…
I’d say this is a pretty cozy adventure game that can be enjoyed by players with a wide variety of tastes. The developers clearly put a lot of effort into the game and its localizations, and to me it’s obvious they wanted to step up their efforts after the years of mobile Nikki games. I’m happy to see more well-developed, high-quality games from studios that aren’t just from the USA or Japan, and with Infinity Nikki, Black Myth Wukong and the MiHoYo titles (Genshin Impact, Honkai Star Rail, Zenless Zone Zero, etc.), China is tapping into the worldwide gaming market in a big way—Infold, the developers for Infinity Nikki, are already very well-known in their native country, so I’m happy to see them become more recognized. Infinity Nikki even earned a last-minute nomination at the 2024 Game of the Year Awards a week after release, which I think is a well-deserved honor.
I give Infinity Nikki an 8/10.

For instance, Logitech’s MX Master series for business users achieved 5 million units sold within six months of launch, demonstrating strong corporate demand.
MARKET RESTRAINTS
Supply Chain Fragility to Limit Market Expansion
The computer peripheral industry faces significant material shortages, with display panel lead times extending to 26 weeks and microcontroller unit prices increasing 380% since 2020. Component scarcity has forced 43% of manufacturers to redesign products mid-cycle, adding $12-18 million in unexpected R&D costs per major product line. Smaller brands have been particularly affected, with 27% delaying product launches by two quarters or more. These disruptions occur despite overall demand growth, creating a paradoxical market situation where orders exceed supply by approximately 18 million units annually.
Additional Constraints
Price Sensitivity in Emerging Markets While developed markets prioritize premium features, cost remains the primary factor for 73% of consumers in developing economies. This has created market fragmentation, with brands struggling to balance quality expectations against the need for sub-$25 peripherals that dominate these regions.
Product Standardization Challenges Differing regional regulations for wireless peripherals require manufacturers to maintain 17 distinct SKU variations for global distribution. Certification costs now account for 15% of development budgets, up from 9% in 2020, particularly affecting smaller innovators.
MARKET CHALLENGES
Accelerated Obsolescence Cycles to Pressure Profit Margins
The average product lifecycle for peripherals has contracted from 28 months to 18 months since 2020, forcing manufacturers to absorb 22% higher R&D expenditures without commensurate price increases. This compression is particularly acute in the monitor segment, where display technology advancements require retooling production lines every 14 months. Established vendors now allocate 29% of revenue to inventory write-downs on discontinued products, compared to 17% pre-pandemic. Third-party refurbishers have capitalized on this trend, creating a $4.3 billion secondary market that further pressures new device sales.
Other Pressures
Compatibility Fragmentation The proliferation of operating systems and device architectures requires peripheral makers to maintain 11 separate driver stacks, increasing support costs by $8-12 million annually for mid-sized companies.
Consumer Expectation Escalation Survey data reveals that 68% of buyers now expect three-year warranties on premium peripherals, compared to the industry-standard one-year coverage, creating potential liability exposure.
MARKET OPPORTUNITIES
AI-Enhanced Peripherals to Create New Value Segments
The integration of machine learning into peripheral devices represents a transformational opportunity, with the market for intelligent peripherals projected to reach $21 billion by 2027. Context-aware keyboards that adapt to application usage patterns and self-calibrating monitors now command 58% price premiums over conventional models. Early deployments in contact centers using AI-powered noise-canceling headsets have demonstrated 31% productivity gains, validating the enterprise value proposition.
Modular Ecosystem Development Offers Growth Pathways
The rise of configurable peripheral systems presents a $9.2 billion revenue opportunity by 2028. Successful implementations include Dell’s Premier reconfigurable keyboard and LG’s modular monitor arrays currently adopted by 19% of Fortune 100 companies. This approach reduces total cost of ownership by 43% through component-level upgrades rather than full device replacement, aligning with corporate sustainability initiatives.
Healthcare Digitization to Drive Specialized Demand
Medical-grade peripherals represent the fastest-growing niche, with surgical monitors and sterilization-resistant input devices projected to grow at 28% CAGR through 2030. Regulatory approvals for seven new medical peripheral classifications in 2024 have created immediate market opportunities, particularly in telemedicine applications where specialized peripherals enable 94% diagnostic accuracy compared to consumer-grade alternatives.
COMPUTER PERIPHERAL DEVICE MARKET TRENDS
Rising Demand for High-Performance Gaming Peripherals Drives Market Growth
The global computer peripheral device market is experiencing significant growth, fueled by the booming gaming industry. Gamers increasingly demand high-performance peripherals such as mechanical keyboards, precision mice, and high-refresh-rate monitors to enhance their experience. The gaming peripheral segment alone is projected to grow at over 12% CAGR through 2032, with manufacturers focusing on features like RGB lighting, programmable buttons, and ultra-low latency. Key players like Razer, Logitech, and Corsair continue to innovate with wireless technologies and advanced sensor capabilities, further expanding this lucrative market segment. The shift towards esports and cloud gaming platforms has further accelerated this trend, creating new opportunities for peripheral manufacturers.
Other Trends
Hybrid Work Models Accelerate Demand for Ergonomic Solutions
The post-pandemic shift to hybrid work arrangements has created sustained demand for ergonomic peripherals designed for prolonged use. Products like vertical mice, split keyboards, and adjustable monitor stands are seeing year-over-year growth exceeding 15% as companies invest in employee wellness. This trend aligns with the broader focus on workplace health and productivity, with many organizations now including quality peripherals in their standard equipment budgets. Regional Analysis: Computer Peripheral Device Market
North America The North American computer peripheral market remains a global leader in innovation and adoption of high-performance devices. Major players like HP, Apple, and Logitech dominate this space, particularly in the gaming and professional workstation segments. The U.S. accounts for 80% of regional market revenue, driven by strong enterprise demand and consumer preferences for premium peripherals. While wireless keyboard/mouse adoption has reached near saturation, emerging gaming peripherals (8.2% CAGR projected through 2032) and VR-compatible devices present new growth avenues. Challenges include market maturity and inflation impacting discretionary spending, though commercial sector upgrades continue to drive steady demand.
Europe European markets show preference for sustainable and ergonomic peripherals, with Germany and the UK leading adoption. EU Ecodesign regulations are pushing manufacturers toward energy-efficient monitors and recyclable materials in keyboard production. The professional/B2B segment accounts for 65% of peripheral sales in Western Europe, with healthcare and education sectors showing above-average growth. Eastern Europe demonstrates faster market expansion (6.1% annual growth) as digital infrastructure develops, though price sensitivity remains higher compared to Western counterparts. Printer sales continue declining across the region (-3% YoY) as paperless initiatives gain traction.
Asia-Pacific As the largest and fastest-growing peripheral market globally, APAC is projected to account for 47% of global sales by 2027. China dominates both production and consumption, with domestic brands like A4Tech gaining share against international players. India shows explosive growth in budget peripherals (18% CAGR for entry-level mice/keyboards), while Japan and South Korea maintain premium market segments. Unique dynamics include strong government procurement in China (30% of commercial sales) and the Philippines’ booming BPO sector driving headset demand. Regional price wars and counterfeit products remain challenges for established brands.
South America The region presents a mixed landscape where Brazil (45% of regional market) and Argentina drive most demand. Economic instability has created a bifurcated market: price-sensitive consumers drive sub-$20 peripheral sales while high-income segments prefer imported premium brands. Local assembly of monitors and keyboards has increased to avoid import tariffs. The Chilean and Colombian markets show promise with growing IT services sectors, but infrastructure limitations in rural areas constrain broader adoption. Gaming peripherals represent the fastest-growing segment (23% annual growth) despite economic headwinds.
Middle East & Africa MEA demonstrates strong polarization between developed Gulf states (UAE, Saudi Arabia) with premium market characteristics and African nations where affordability dictates purchases. The UAE accounts for 40% of regional premium peripheral sales, with Dubai emerging as a key distribution hub. South Africa remains Africa’s largest market, though infrastructure challenges limit growth. Across the region, eSports investments and smart city initiatives are creating demand for high-end gaming and commercial peripherals. However, import dependency (90% of products) and economic volatility in oil-dependent economies cause market fluctuations.
