A request! being a physio therapist that Leah unintentionally fell head over heals for, from that 9 month period of time they spent together when she done her acl you could also make it to be like out of office moments too. y/n being guilty about how down Leah had felt so she takes her out to the movies, bowling. lots of activities to keep her distracted and with Leah’s birthday coming up y/n did not want her being alone and in her head too much so she gets Leah tickets to her favourite musician ever, Luke combs. they go to the concert dressed up to the hilt and Leah swears she has not felt as content and as happy in a long time. she has heart eyes spinning y/n around and dancing to their favourite songs, the booze they had consumed both gave them the confidence to stop beating around the bush and confront the connection they shared was painfully obvious
Also in the works 😺😺

Personally I wouldn’t go to see Luke Combs in concert if it was free. It’s a lot of hassle to go to most concerts these days and he is more boring than reruns on TV. I might go see Lainey Wilson if I had free tickets. If I knew for sure Blake would be there I would pay a lot to see him and Post Malone but not 8-10 thousand dollars. There are some tickets on resale sites in the balcony priced in the $500 range.

Sammy Hagar Live: A Rock Experience You Don't Want to Miss
Rock fans, get ready—Sammy Hagar is hitting the stage again, and this time, he's bringing some serious firepower with him. With a lineup that includes bassist Michael Anthony, guitar virtuoso Joe Satriani, and powerhouse drummer Kenny Aronoff, this tour is more than just a concert—it's a full-blown rock celebration.
Whether you’ve been a fan since the Montrose days, jammed out to Van Halen’s Hagar-era classics, or love his solo work with The Circle, Sammy’s shows have always been high-energy, fan-centered, and full of surprises. This tour is no different.
What to Expect From the Show
This isn't just another stop on the touring circuit—Sammy Hagar is bringing decades of experience, hits, and good vibes to the stage. Fans can expect a mix of:
Van Halen classics like “Right Now”, “Why Can’t This Be Love”, and “Best of Both Worlds”
Solo favorites such as “I Can’t Drive 55” and “Mas Tequila”
Deep cuts from Chickenfoot and The Circle
And maybe a few unexpected jams that only come when a supergroup this good gets together
Joe Satriani’s intricate guitar work adds a new dimension to the sound, while Michael Anthony brings those iconic harmonies and stage chemistry from their Van Halen days. Meanwhile, Kenny Aronoff’s driving rhythms keep everything tight and thunderous. Together, they turn every show into something unique.
Upcoming Dates & Cities
While there may not be any shows happening right near Karol Bagh or some smaller cities, this tour features multiple dates in major venues across the U.S., including an extended stay in Las Vegas at Dolby Live at Park MGM. One special performance also stands out: Sammy Hagar’s appearance at the Stagecoach Country Music Festival on Sunday, April 27, alongside Luke Combs and Midland—an unexpected but thrilling crossover for country and rock fans alike.
With multiple Vegas shows from April 30 through May 17, fans have plenty of chances to catch this rock ‘n’ roll gathering of legends live.
Why This Tour Feels Special
There’s something undeniably powerful about artists who continue to pour their passion into live music decade after decade. At 76, Sammy Hagar still sings, jumps, and performs with the same fire he had in the '80s—and he’s surrounded by musicians who push the limits every night on stage. It’s a celebration of music, connection, and the kind of good-time spirit that only live rock can deliver.
Plus, there's an extra sense of nostalgia and gratitude at these shows—both from the fans and the band. You're not just attending a concert; you're witnessing history with every power chord and crowd sing-along.
Planning to Go?
All shows, seating options, and dates can be found directly on the Sammy Hagar tickets page. Whether you're planning a Vegas weekend or heading out to Indio for Stagecoach, it's a great time to lock in plans and be part of something unforgettable.
Don’t be surprised if you leave the venue hoarse from singing, pumped with adrenaline, and already checking when Sammy Hagar and the band are coming back.

Four Times You Ask Travis to Fill In + The One Time He Asks You
Words: 3.4k
Warnings: language, a guy being a dick in the first part
a/n: literally got inspo from this out of nowhere and sat down to write it after a two 8 hour work days, pls dont hesitate to give me feedback!
one
“You want a refill?” Travis asks you as he sees you stirring your straw in your now empty glass.
“Yes, please!” You answer, smile on your face.
“The usual?” He double checks, regarding the light yellow liquid that was previously in your cup. You nod your head yes and he walks away through the crowd towards the bar.
As you wait, you pull out your phone to check your Snapchat as you lean against the wall where your small group was formed.
As you switch to texting your roommate back, you feel a much larger presence that couldn’t possibly be Travis. You offer the large stranger a soft smile as you turn your full attention back to your phone.
“Do I know you from somewhere?” The man asks, making you turn to him to fully take his appearance in.
You roll your eyes as you look at him, clearly not knowing him and clearly figuring out that the statement was just a line. “I don’t think so.”
“You sure? I feel like we’ve had to have met before. I’d remember someone as pretty as you,” The guy smirks, taking a step closer to you.
You roll your eyes once more at the comment before turning your attention towards the bar across the room. The dim lighting of the bar combined with the overcrowding made it difficult for you to find your best friend.
“And I think I’d remember a guy that used that lame of a pick-up line.” You clap back, a tight lipped smile falling on your face once you’re done speaking. You go back to your phone, trying your best to get the guy to take the hint that you’re not interested. Instead, he doesn’t, and he begins speaking yet again.
“You’re sassy, I like that.” He says, his gaze moving from your eyes down the rest of your body. The path of his gaze is painfully obvious to you as you try not to gag at both his actions and his attempts at flirting. He moves his hand to place it on his waist and the second you feel it, you’re shoving him off of you.
You turn your body once again to see if any of your friends notice the situation you’re in. All of them are either in their own worlds or out on the dancefloor, so you start looking for Travis who you still can’t find in the large crowd.
However, the shove doesn't stop him as he moves towards you again, closer than he was before. He starts to crowd you closer to the wall before a warm hand grabs you and Travis is suddenly between you and the stranger.
“Aye, you better not be hitting on my girl.” He interrupts, linking your fingers with his and fully placing his body in front of yours, blocking you from the much taller man.
“You better keep your girl in check then, man, she was all over me.” The stranger counters, puffing his chest trying to intimidate Travis.
“My girl wasn’t flirting with you. She can do whatever she wants anyways.” He shrugs, puffing out his smaller, but still broad chest. The stranger finally takes the hint and walks away, making sure to shove Travis as he turns.
“Thank you for that. I barely even talked to him but he wouldn’t leave me alone.” You thank Travis, once he turns back towards you. He hands you your drink before pulling your head into your chest, rubbing the back of your head in comfort.
“You’re okay,” He assures you, pulling away to look at your facial expression.
two
“Hey, you know that Luke Combs concert I bought tickets to, like, months ago?” You ask Travis, sitting down at his island as he moves towards the fridge to get a bottle of water out. He shuts the fridge before turning around and leaning against it. “Yeah? You’re supposed to go with Rilee, right?”
“That’s the thing,” You start. “She was supposed to go with me but I guess her boyfriend is having surgery so she has to be there for that.”
Travis takes a gulp of his water as he listens closely to your predicament. “So what are you gonna do?” He swallows.
“Well,” you start, the pitch in your voice higher than normal. It’s the same voice you use with him everytime you ask him for a favor and you can tell he knows as he dramatically sets his water bottle down on the counter and throws his baseball hat covered head back. “I was thinking you could come instead. I already checked your game schedule and you don’t have a game and you’ll be in town!” You exclaim.
Travis just looks at you silently as you speak. Your body is leaning over the island you’re sitting at, trying to get more of his attention and trying to make him understand how big of a deal it is to you.
“You know how much I love him! Please!” You beg further.
“What day is it exactly? I’ll make sure to clear my schedule.” Travis agrees, pulling his phone out of his pocket to double check his calendar. A squeak leaves your mouth and you jump out of your seat, running to him to give him a hug. You kiss his cheek loudly, leaving a wet spot on his cheek and mutter another thank you.
“Yuck.” Travis groans, wiping the slightly wet spot off of his cheek, a smile still covering his face contradicting his verbal discomfort of your actions.
Pulling away from him, you move a step back opening the fridge to grab a drink for yourself. “You love country music, you can’t not have fun.” You argue, as you close the fridge, staring him down as you do so.
three
Thanksgiving was just right around the corner, which in Philadelphia meant the full effects of Fall were coming out. The streets were littered with orange leaves, pumpkin spice lattes were at all of your favorite coffee shops, and football and hockey was back in full force.
It also meant the dreaded yearly company dinner your office had around this time. You were one of the younger people working at your office, which meant you didn’t fully immerse yourself into the office culture, and instead only talked to people directly in the same department.
“So, it’s almost American Thanksgiving.” Travis remarks, looking at you writing things down on the calendar that’s stuck to your refrigerator.
You turn to your friend, hand still writing, “do you know what you’re doing yet?”
“We have games the day before and the day after, so I’ll probably just go to Haysie’s place since you’re going home.” He shrugs.
“That doesn’t sound too bad. What sounds bad is my drive home and seeing people I haven’t seen in forever asking me the same million questions.” You say, capping your pen and placing it on the countertop next to you. “I also have a company dinner the weekend before, which really doesn’t sound fun.”
“Why?” Travis laughs. He knows you love your job so he’s confused as to why you don’t think you’ll have a fun time.
“For starters, the company is way larger than you think it is so it’ll be a fuck ton of people. Secondly, I only talk to the people in my department and everyone is significantly older than me.” You explain.
“Do you have to go?” He further questions.
“I don’t think so, but they’ll know if I’m not there.” You shrug, “Think of it like all those dinners you have to do with the Flyers. You could not show up but it wouldn’t be a good idea.”
“Ahh, I see, okay, yeah, and if it’s anything like mine, it seems like they’ll be stuffy.”
“Exactly.” you point, moving to sit next to him at the kitchen table. “And, I’m pretty sure all of the people I’m friends with are bringing their significant others.”
He nods his head at your complaints, thinking of positives to bring up about why the dinner will in fact be fun.
“Unless,” You start, dragging out the end of the word which fully grabs Travis’ attention as he sets his beer down to the table. “Do you want to come with? You can be my entertainment for the night!” You suggest, hint of begging in your tone.
Travis stares at your suggestion dumb-founded, “What.” The stiff tone in his voice makes it seem like he’s not even asking a question, and is instead stating a fact. “I don’t think that’s a good idea.”
“What do you mean? It’s a perfect idea!” You clap your hands together before they start moving frantically as you continue to ramble. “You already have a suit, you probably won’t have a game, you’re already used to talking to those fancy people!”
“You should bond with the people you work with.” Travis counters.
“I can still do that if you’re there.” You state, putting on your best puppy dog eyes.
You stare him down and you can see him start to crack before he responds, “Fine, but if more than five people ask me about what being an NHLer is like, I’m ditching you.”
four
A loud groan leaves your mouth as you walk back into your apartment, a stack of mail in your hands and a confused Travis sitting on your couch. He looks up from his phone with knitted eyebrows, silently asking you what the groan was for.
You set the stack of mail down on the table by your front door before tossing him a pristine white envelope with neat, black handwriting on the outside. “Who’s Emma?” He asks, handing the mail back to you.
You begin opening the envelope as you speak. “You know that one girl in my sorority that I would constantly complain about?” He nods his head, urging you to go on. “I saw a while ago that she got engaged on Instagram and I guess she’s inviting me to the wedding.”
“Literally who gets married in the winter anyways?!” You groan dramatically, setting your full weight into the couch next to your friend.
Travis laughs next to you at your dramatic body movement before he turns to you.”So?” He asks, somewhat confused at your groaning.
“Why would you want to get married in Philly when it’s below freezing? Like who wants to do that!” You complain.
“You know you just don't have to go?” Travis suggests with raised eyebrows. Another groan passes your lips at your oblivious friend.
“I can’t just not go! She was my roommate when I lived in the sorority house.” You state in a straightforward tone.
“When is it?” Travis questions further.
You toss him the formal invitation, “Early December.”
He reads over the invitation before looking up to you to hand it back to you. As he reaches his hand to hand it over, a light bulb goes off in your head.
“Oh no.” Travis starts.
“You can come with!” You suggest excitedly.
“No, you don’t need an NHL player crashing your friend’s wedding.” He argues.
“Oh yes, I do.” You argue back, voice stern. The two of you stare one another down for what feels like minutes before Travis finally caves and agrees to go with you.
--
“See what I mean?” You start turning to look at Travis. “It’s fucking freezing why whould you want to get married in this? There’s literally snow on the ground.” You complain, gesturing to the inches of snow surrounding the sidewalks as you walk from the ceremony to the reception.
Travis wraps his arm around your shoulder, rubbing your arm to try and give you some sort of warmth. It isn’t as successful as you want it to be, but you appreciate the gesture as you lean into his warmer side.
“It’s not fair though, you get to wear an overcoat and still look nice. If I put on my winter coat I would like a marshmallow.” You scoff, causing loud laughter to erupt from Travis.
“You know damn well you wouldn’t look like a marshmallow.” He starts in between fits of laughter. “And, besides, your sexy legs would take away from your marshmallow-ness.” He jokes poking at the bottom of your thigh where you dress ended and the bareness of your legs started.
A light blush comes to your cheeks and your stomach tightens as you scoff at his comment and push him away jokingly.
You guys walk the rest of the short distance to the reception in quiet chills before finally finding your seats. You had to admit the wedding so far had been beautiful, even if you had a slight distaste for the bride herself.
You’re still sat after the both of you finish your meals, the both of you taking a break before joining the dancefloor again.
“Not too bad, eh?” Travis questions you. His arm is resting comfortably over the back of your chair not quite directly landing over your shoulders. You turn your attention from the large mass on the dancefloor to Travis before answering, “Yeah, better than I thought it would be. I’ve gotten to see a lot of people from college I haven’t seen in a while.” A good chunk of your sorority sisters had also been in attendance as well as a few other people you recognized as Emma’s close friends.
He nods his head slightly before you ask him if he too is enjoying his evening. “Of course, it’s an excuse to hang with you and get you to dance without begging.” He remarks. “Speaking of, I think it’s time to go out-dance everyone out there.” He stands up, offering his hand for you to grab. You take a hold of his hand as you stand up and follow him to the middle of the room where the dancefloor was located.
The two of you dance for a while, and by two of you, it’s Travis dancing like an idiot while you kind of just bounce and sing to the songs. A slower song comes on and you turn away from Travis, intending to make your way back to your seats. Instead, Travis stops you, pulling your body flush against his as he rests his hands on the small of your back. “Not so fast there, killer,” He smiles, looking down at your face.
You slowly move your hands to his shoulders, playing with the ends of his hair with one hand. “You should really get a haircut soon.” You chirp, knowing all too well he won’t cut it just because you told him to. He playfully rolls his eyes at your joke and lets the two of you dance to the song in silence.
As the song ends you begin to slightly pull away from him. “Thanks for filling in as my date today, Travis. I know you get your fair share of weddings in the offseason.”
“You know I don’t mind, y/n” He replies as the music completely cuts out before the next one starts.
You leave a soft kiss on his cheek before you’re pulled away by a few of your friends you haven’t been able to say hi to yet.
plus one
Your phone starts to ring, pulling your attention from your computer. Picking it up you see Travis’ face covering the screen so you answer it.
“Y/n!” He cheers loudly into the phone, causing you to erupt in a giggle. “Have you checked Instagram in like the past five minutes?”
“No?” You answer, infliction in your voice. You move your phone away from your ear, putting it on speaker before opening the Instagram app. “I’ve been pretty busy at work today.”
“Well, look!” He says, just as loudly. You scroll on your feed, trying to find what Travis is silently asking you to look for. You still don’t know what he’s talking about and you open your mouth to ask him and that’s when you see it.
“Holy shit!” You exclaim, liking the post by the Philadelphia Flyers. You read the caption a few more times as the news settles in. “You’re an all star!”
“I’m an all star, baby!” He repeats back to you. Your smile widens even more hearing the excitement in your best friend’s voice. “Chuck pulled me aside before practice this morning.” He explains.
“Congratulations Teeks,” You compliment. “I’m really proud of you. You’ve been working your ass off all season for something like this.”
“Thank you, y/n, means a lot.” He starts, a softness in his tone replacing his previous excitement. “I’ll let you get back to work, though.” He finishes.
“Want to celebrate after your game?” You suggest. “I can come over and bring some food?”
“Sounds perfect. See ya later.”
“Good luck tonight! I’ll talk to you soon.” You conclude, hanging up.
--
You knock on Travis’ front door before opening it and letting yourself in, announcing your presence. You go to set the bag of take out and the bottle of wine you brought over for the occasion onto his island before you see him emerge from his bedroom hallway.
Once you see him you smile and run over to him, tackling him in a hug. “Congratulations!” You shriek with glee. Your arms wrap tightly around his neck as he wraps his tightly around your torso, slightly lifting your body off the ground.
“Thank you!” He cheers once he pulls away from you.
“I brought Five Guys and some wine to celebrate,” You start, leading him back towards his kitchen island. “I thought you could ditch your diet for one night.”
Your joke causes Travis to let out a chuckle as he closely examines the bottle of wine you brought. Instead of opening it or even pulling out the to-go containers from the bag, he leans against the island turning to look at you.
There’s an unreadable softness in his eyes which has you confused. Not only did he find out that he was going to be an NHL all-star at such a young age, the Flyers had also won their game that night, so he should at least be filled with glee.
“What’s up?” You ponder from across the spacious kitchen.
“Just thinking about everything I guess, everything it took to get here.” The sudden turn from Travis’ normal cheerfulness to openly talking about his emotions has you even more confused. He looks into your eyes from where he stands and holds out his arms, leaning towards you to pull you closer.
“Like, you’ve been here when we were dog shit - when I was dog shit, and now you’re here.” He starts. He’s holding both your hands now, lightly rubbing his thumbs on the back of them. He looks down at your joined hands before continuing. “Like, I feel like I’m in a dream, like how the hell am I an all-star?”
“Because you’re an amazing hockey player Travis, and the league knows that.” You comfort him, taking a step closer to him. It feels as if the air around is lighter as you look into his eyes and feel his body closer to yours than it normally is.
He stays quiet a little while longer, glancing at your mouth every so often. “I was thinking today, you should come with me to St. Louis, eh?” He suggests, pulling your body so that your thighs are touching his. His rough hands disconnect from your hands, as he places one on your waist and the other on the junction of your jaw.
Your mouth slightly drops open at his suggestion, “Don’t families just go? And like girlfriends?”
“Yeah, that’s kinda what I’m getting around to asking you.” He whispers, head leaning in towards yours. His mouth is millimeters away from yours, and you’re sure he can feel your deep breathing on his face. “I kinda like, really like you.”
“So, you’re asking me out then?” You question, your hands moving to the back of his neck where his longer hair rests.
“I mean, I kinda thought all those times you asked me to go to those things where dates,” He shrugs, his nose brushing against yours. “I was hoping we could skip that part and you could just be my girlfriend, yeah?”
Your eyes momentarily move from his, down to his mouth, and back up to his eyes before you respond in a whisper, “Yeah.”
That’s all it takes for Travis to close the small gap between the two of you as his mouth moves against yours softly.

“i just lost the Celebrity X Lookalike Contest (I AM Celebrity X) and threw a tantrum about it, you’re the security guard who escorted me out and doesn’t believe me” au OR “i was scratching my nose, not bidding on the charity auction, but i won a date with you anyway and i don’t have the money but i’m not giving it up” au take your pick
ffghfgjdgsgldja sorry it took me FIVE HUNDRED YEARS and that you actually wrote the entire beginning of this but anyway here is it....three thousand words later. im gonna exhaust my supply of fics to dedicate to you today and then i won’t have any saved for the future when i want to win your favor but alas. such is life (i did the second one since i already did hthe first one i’m too lazy to link it but it exists....u read it....yeah)
“It’s six,” Calum feels the need to remind Luke, for the tenth time. “In the morning.”
“Oh my God, shut up,” Luke says. “It’s literally an opportunity to meet Green Day. If you were awake enough to process that, you’d be the one dragging me out of the house to get it. Anyway, it’s for a good cause.”
“That made no sense,” Calum says, probably because he’s tired and sluggish and it is six. “You know it’s six in the morning, right?”
Luke mutters something irritated and points to two seats next to each other. “We’re here,” he says. “Just sit down and shut up.”
“If all you wanted was for me to sit down and shut up, why the fuck did you make me come?”
“Because,” Luke says, looking like he’s about to whine. He better fucking not. If anyone’s going to whine, it will be Calum, because it is six in the morning. He scans the room, which looks roughly like he’d imagine an auction room to look like. Unsurprisingly, this quickly becomes boring, and when Luke sits down, Calum leans on Luke’s shoulder, yawning.
“So how do you win?” he asks. He’s a good friend, and Luke’s clearly excited. Calum can pretend to be excited, too, for twenty seconds.
“You don’t win,” Luke says. “The auction guy calls out a number, and people raise their hands, and then he keeps calling out numbers until only one person’s got their hand up.”
“Hm,” Calum says, because he doesn’t care. “How much are you spending on this, again?”
“Enough,” Luke says. “Don’t worry about it.”
“You drag me out of bed at six in the morning and now you won’t even tell me how much of a bad life decision you’re making,” Calum grumbles. “I don’t know why I’m friends with you.”
Luke doesn’t dignify this with an answer, just pats his hair and opens up Twitter on his phone.
Calum zones out for awhile after that. He registers the auction starting (mostly because Luke’s put his phone away), and from the angle his head is at, he can just see the front, where they’re displaying each item as it’s auctioned off. Time passes. Calum tries not to flat-out fall asleep, because it would be rude, but he’s really tired and has only gotten about four hours of sleep, and his head hurts. He tries to train his eyes solely on the front, to laser focus on whatever item’s being auctioned. Somebody’s socks, maybe? Some concert tickets? They put up a photo of someone, and Calum squints. He doesn’t recognize the guy, but he must be famous, because his picture’s up there. It’s a shame; the guy in the photo is hot, hot enough that it breaks through Calum’s sleep-deprived haze.
He rubs his hand against his forehead, trying to massage away some of the ache that’s building up. Fuck Luke for dragging him out to this, honestly. As he rakes a hand through his unkempt hair, he vaguely registers somebody going, “SOLD to the gentlemen in the Rolling Stones shirt!”
I’m wearing a Rolling Stones shirt, Calum thinks distantly, and then Luke’s shaking him. “Calum, what the fuck?”
“What?” Calum whispers.
“You — you just bid $2000 on a date with Michael Clifford.”
Calum blinks, a lot, and picks his head up off Luke’s shoulder. “Who the fuck is Michael Clifford?”
Luke points, and Calum looks up at the podium, and of course Michael Clifford is the super hot guy in the photo.
“I can’t have won that,” Calum says. “I don’t have two thousand dollars.”
“Well, you did,” Luke says, sounding like he’s moments from tearing his hair out because of Calum. “So you’ll just have to back out after the auction.”
“Jesus Christ, I don’t have two thousand dollars,” Calum says, beginning to panic. “Luke, what the fuck? I don’t even have two hundred dollars.”
“Okay, relax,” Luke says. “You’ll just tell the auctioneer after. You can forfeit the item to the next highest bidder.”
Calum is tempted to ask how the fuck do you know so much about auctions, but instead he says, “This is your fault for fucking dragging me here.”
Luke shushes him. Apparently the Green Day thing he’d come for is next up. Luke’s a terrible friend and an absolute menace to society.
The auction continues, and Calum keeps his hands tensely folded in his lap, terrified to even move in case this poor excuse for an auctioneer randomly decides to make his life hell again. He spends about an hour trying to work up the nerve to tell the man that he hadn’t intended to bid, he hadn’t even wanted to come to this, and he hasn’t got two thousand dollars anyway, so thanks but no thanks, you can give this particular victory to someone else.
But every time he does, his eyes land on the photo of the alleged Michael Clifford. Calum’s not, like, a shallow guy, but there is something to be said for a man that attractive. Namely that if you get a chance to go on a date with him, even if it costs two thousand dollars, you’d have to be not only stupid but fucking blind to turn it down.
You don’t have two thousand dollars, he firmly reminds himself. And you don’t know this Michael chump at all. He might be a total asshole.
(If someone that hot is an asshole, Calum will lose all faith in humanity, but whatever. It’s fine.)
He manages to steel his resolve enough to turn down the date, but when the auction ends everything is all hustle and bustle. Apparently Luke’s won his thing, which is cool for him. Calum goes up to the line with the auction winners and prepares to tell the lady (assistant?) that there’s been a mistake, but the lady just hands him a piece of paper and says, “Next.”
“No, sorry, there’s —” Calum says, trying to return the paper, and the lady gives him a chilling stare.
“Next,” she repeats. Luke looks desperately between Calum and the lady and then takes what she’s handing him and hurries them off.
“Luke,” Calum hisses.
“Okay, I know, but did you see her face? It’s fine. You can just email the auction company.”
“Just because you’re afraid of social confrontation,” Calum gripes, but it’s far too late. They’re already outside the building. “I hope you’re happy.”
“I am,” Luke says. “Calm down, Cal. Literally just send them an email. They’ll figure out you don’t have two thousand dollars soon enough anyway.”
Calum stares down at the paper in his hand, which has all the details on how to contact this Michael Clifford figure. It’s fine. He can email the auction company, and everything will be fine.
-
Everything is not fine. Calum typed michael clifford into his browser three hours ago, and now he’s fucked. Utterly, irreparably fucked.
He shouldn’t have checked. He shouldn’t have even bothered. If he’d operated under the assumption that Michael Clifford was a jackass who wasn’t worth a second of Calum’s time, much less a cent of his money, everything would have worked out wonderfully. Calum could have sent the email to the auctioneers, subject line: GRAVE MISTAKE, and sorted it out.
Instead he’s an hour deep into Michael Clifford interviews on YouTube, and he’s listened to the man’s entire discography (two albums and an EP). Calum has gone over everything with a fine-toothed comb, but there’s no two ways about it: Michael Clifford is dead sexy and that’s not even the best thing about him. How can someone be this witty and charming and beautiful and sort of awkward and gorgeous all at once and not, like, spontaneously combust?
It doesn’t help that he’s been steadily drinking tequila for the last two hours, also.
(He will easily blame the tequila for what he does next.)
He’d have to be an idiot to let this chance slip through his fingers. A total and complete fucking dumbass. Calum’s a lot of things, but he knows when God is giving him a chance. This is a miracle. An opportunity, Luke had called it. Calum’s not stupid, okay? He’s not.

SUBJECT: I won something with your guy
Hello,
I’m the winner of the charity auction date thing? With Michael Clifford? So that’s exciting. Write back with the details, I guess.
Calum Hood
-
Calum doesn’t tell Luke when he wakes up, mostly because for a couple hours he himself can’t believe he’s done it, and Luke will just voice every terrible thing Calum is thinking, beginning and ending with you don’t have, have never had, and will probably never have $2000. And Calum already knows that. He knows, okay?
But when he gets a response email, he can’t help but be excited, a little bit. If he’s going to go down (and he definitely is, for this), he may as well go down on a date with a man who looks like a fierce cuddler and a sex god rolled in one.
FROM: [email protected]
SUBJECT: Re: I won something with your guy
Hello,
Michael will be in Sydney this weekend. Attached is his availability. Please reply at earliest convenience regarding which time suits you best.
Congratulations,
Michael Clifford's Management (Hi Or Hey Records)
Calum has no plans, ever, and would also easily cancel anything to speak with the absolute treasure that is Michael Clifford, so he replies that any time works for him. He hopes Michael himself isn't as stiff and formal as his management's emails, but Calum's coming off an interview binge, so he wouldn't believe that anyway. He's aware of the disparity between what the public sees of a celebrity and who the celebrity actually is, but a public persona has to be based on something.
Plus, Michael plays Fifa, so he can't be that bad.
He resolutely does not text Luke, and instead spends the day under his duvet, watching more interviews of Michael Clifford and listening to his music on repeat. It's kind of like studying, except the test is a date with a really hot famous bloke. But fuck if Calum's not going to ace it.
-
They decide on Friday night, because that's the universally accepted prime date night, or something, so on Friday night at 7pm, Calum is shifting nervously on his feet and waiting by his door. A car will pick him up, apparently. He just has to sit and wait.
(He's still deliberately not thinking about how this will cost him two thousand dollars. Which he doesn't have.)
Calum's phone buzzes with an email. It's from Michael Clifford's management, but all it says is, I'm outside :D. Tonally, Calum is pretty sure that one wasn't sent by the management.
He takes a deep breath and leaves his house.
The car out front is not a limo, like Calum would have expected. It's a nice Tesla, though, still clearly too expensive for Calum's street and gleaming in the little remaining daylight. Calum makes for it, feeling nervous and excited and mostly just terrified that this is the worst idea he's ever had.
He pulls open the passenger door and slides into the car.
"Hi," says Michael Clifford. Calum fights not to lose his breath. He's prettier in person, so much so that Calum can't actually believe the injustice that pictures and videos do to him. "Calum?"
Oh, that's Calum's name. "Hi, yeah," Calum says. "I'm Calum." He holds out the paper given to him at the auction, just like the management email had instructed him to do.
Michael takes it, looking sheepish. "Cool," he says. Calum can't feel any of his limbs. "Um, get in, I suppose? I know we didn't really decide where we're going, but I figured I'd let you choose."
Calum thinks about everything he's learned about Michael over the past two and a half days of intense studying. Then he checks it against his own appetite. "Pizza?"
Michael's face splits with relief. "Oh, thank fucking God. I've been craving pizza for like a week."
Calum grins in what he hopes is a charming and not-at-all-creepy way. And then he feels creepy anyway.
“So, uh,” Michael continues. “Tell me about yourself.”
Calum drums his fingers against his thigh. “About myself? Okay. Sure. My name’s Calum Hood, I’m on a football scholarship at uni — when I’m at school — and I like long walks on the beach.”
“Oh, we won’t get along,” Michael says. “I hate long walks on the beach. Bad start, Calum.”
“What? How can you hate walking on the beach?”
“The sand,” Michael says defensively. “It gets everywhere, it’s horrible.”
“Alright,” Calum says. “Anakin.”
“I know you did not just call me Anakin.”
“The sand,” Calum mimics. “It’s horrible.”
“I’ll stop this car.”
“I think you’re contractually not allowed to,” Calum says. “Tell me about you, now.”
Michael looks pleased. Calum tries not to stare. “Alright,” Michael says, smiling crookedly. “Name’s Michael, and I like video games, and I like watching films in the darkness and I hate the beach.”
“Wow,” Calum says. He suddenly thinks that watching films in the darkness wouldn’t be too bad, with the right company. “You’re a right charmer, you are.”
“I’m an introvert,” Michael protests. “Don’t judge me.”
“You’re an introvert? Who auctioned off a date?”
“It wasn’t up to me,” Michael says. He sounds like he’s trying not to be bitter about it, and failing. “It was, like, my management and the auction company conspired against me. But it’s for charity, anyway.” He shoots a look at Calum. “Actually, I think it could’ve gone much worse.”
Calum feels terribly, all of a sudden. He’s lying to Michael, sitting here pretending like he actively chose to come on this auction-mandated date.
“So, not to be, like, self-obsessed, but I have to ask,” Michael says. “Do you like the new record?”
“Yes,” Calum says immediately, which is true, at least. “Yes, I love it. I’ve listened to it a million times.” In the last three days.
Michael grins happily. “Really?”
Calum nods. “Uh. Yeah. Really.” He wavers, mouth dry. Michael looks delighted, and Calum would be an asshole to let him sit there feeling oblivious about Calum’s whole situation. He sighs. "Um, for the record, I feel like you should know that — well. This is a misunderstanding, kind of."
Michael briefly shoots him a puzzled look before bringing his eyes back to the road. "What is?"
"Well, ah, me, being here." Calum rubs the back of his neck. "I won this by accident. I don't have two thousand dollars — yet, I mean, I promise I'll pay, I just...I honestly didn't know who you were until about three days ago."
Michael snorts, clearly amused. He laughs "That's great," he says. "Did you look me up?"
"Yes," Calum says. "A bit." He pauses, embarrassed. "Okay, a lot. There's a lot of information about you on the internet, if you were wondering. And I'm sure most of it isn't true, but I didn't want to, like, offend you? But I meant it about the album, it’s really really good, exactly the kind of music I love, and — yeah. So."
Michael still looks amused when Calum finishes word-vomiting all over him. Small mercies. "I'm glad," he says, looking sidelong at Calum for a moment. "Well, I'm sorry you ended up on a date you can't afford with a guy you don't care about."
"No, no," Calum says. "I could have forfeited it, I think? But, well." Whatever, Michael probably gets this all the time, and after all this is a date, so what the fuck does he have to lose? "I thought you were hot, and I was pretty drunk, so I figured, fuck it."
Michael snorts another laugh. "Really," he says. "Well, that's pretty lucky for me."
Calum frowns. "Lucky?"
"Yeah, I mean." Michael gestures. "Sorry if this is forward, but you're pretty good-looking yourself."
Calum has absolutely no idea what to say to that. "Um, thank you? That's — is this, like, scripted? Are there things you have to say to me in some contract? Because I promise not to be offended if you just don't say them."
"There's no contract," Michael says, with an easy smile. "I just think you're kinda hot. Is that allowed?"
"Allowed?" Calum repeats, incredulous. "No, it's not allowed. You need to be checked for delusion. You can't call me hot when I'm in a car with you."
"Well, I am," Michael says. "It's done. Deal with it."
"I want the record to reflect that that compliment was nonconsensual," Calum says. You're kinda hot you're kinda hot you're kinda hot you're kinda hot, his mind sings.
"Should I take it back?" Michael asks, arching a brow. He looks like a fucking sculpture. Calum finally understands why museums exist.
"No," he says. "I took a voice note of you saying it, and I'm going to sell it on eBay. For two thousand dollars. Which I will then use to pay for this date."
Michael shakes his head and pulls into a parking lot. "How about this: you pay for the pizza, and I'll pay the two thousand dollars?"
Calum's heart stops, maybe. He's pretty sure he's supposed to have a heartbeat, but he can't locate it in his body. "What? No."
"Why not?" Michael turns to him in the passenger seat. "I'm having a good time, and a gentleman ought to pay for his date's meal, or some bullshit like that, right? So if you buy me pizza, I'll pay off the auction, and then I can ask you on a real date, and I'll buy you pizza, and we'll be even."
Calum stares, unable to process any of that. "I don't think that math checks out," he says. "What do you mean, a real date?"
Michael chuckles, and sounds a little shy. "One where neither of us is financially obliged to attend. You know. Like a normal one."
"Oh," is what Calum eloquently comes up with. "Uh, you want to do that with me?"
Michael shrugs. "Yes? You kept me smiling for the whole drive, and you called me hot. I'm very insecure, so that's important. Plus, as previously mentioned, you're also hot, so I think we'd make a very attractive pair."
"Maybe I'll say no," Calum says, blood roaring in his ears because there is literally no way this is happening, this is not his real life. This is a dream and he's very witty in his dreams. "Don't push your luck, Clifford."
Michael laughs. "Touché."
"That was a joke," Calum says. "Just like yours was a joke."
"I wasn't joking," Michael says. "But you can say no. We're both still on this date, we may as well enjoy it."
"Pizza," Calum helpfully remembers.
Michael nods in agreement. "Pizza."
"Ask me again at the end of our auction-mandated charity date," Calum says. "If you're charming enough, I might just let you take me out again."
"Challenge accepted." Michael gets out of the car, and so does Calum, and he gives himself another this isn't real life, for good luck, before coming around the car. Michael holds out an arm, and Calum takes it.
Calum's never had better pizza, or a better date. (Michael asks him again at the end, and Calum says yes, because he's no fucking idiot.)

Do you sleep with your closet doors open or closed? I keep my closet door open all the time, just because it's one of those barn style doors and I like the way it looks open.
Do you take the shampoos and conditioner bottles from hotel? If I like the product I will, but otherwise no. Most of the time I'll take the conditioner because, ya know, you can only go so wrong with conditioner. Because I dye my hair black and I've got very wavy and coarse hair, I am extremely careful with the shampoos I use on my hair. Matter of fact, I can't tell you the last time I actually used shampoo. I cowash.
Do you sleep with your sheets tucked in or out? I sleep with the sheets out. I can't deal with tucked in sheets when I'm trying to get comfy. It produces a similar feeling of entrapment like trying to sleep with socks on does for me. Ew.
Have you ever stolen a street sign before? Nope and I have never had the urge to do that.
Do you like to use post-it notes? If I am in a position in which using post-it notes makes sense then I will use them, yes.
Do you cut out coupons but then never use them? No but I will get coupons in the mail, keep ones I intend on using, and then forget to use them, so kinda the same thing.
Would you rather be attacked by a big bear or a swarm of a bees? No. Just no. Obviously a bear attack is likely to end in death or at least serious injury like dismemberment, but then on the other hand it would suck to be stung by a swarm of bees and you never know, I could be allergic, so I'm just gonna stick with my original answer - no. Just no.
Do you have freckles? Yeah, especially on my shoulders and my back. I will also get some on my face when I'm in the direct sun for a while and I had a lot on my face as a kid.
Do you always smile for pictures? I smile for pictures most of the time, yes.
What is your biggest pet peeve? I don't know. Just general rudeness, really. This is one of those questions where I don't have the answer right now or off the top of my head, but ask me when I'm annoying and I can give you multiple things, lol. Oh, one thing I really hate is when someone tries to continue a conversation with you when it's very clear that you don't want to talk. I don't want anyone to take it personally. Sometimes I just don't feel like talking.
Do you ever count your steps when you walk? I mean I have before, yeah.
Have you ever peed in the woods? Yes, I have.
What about pooped in the woods? I don't believe so.
Do you ever dance even if theres no music playing? Sometimes, I guess? Idk, sometimes I'm the girl that does a little happy dance when she eats.
Do you chew your pens and pencils? No, I don't do that.
How many people have you slept with this week? That'd be zero.
What size is your bed? My bed is a queen.
What is your song of the week? I really like "I Hope" by Gabby Barrett.
Do you still watch cartoons? Not really. Pretty sure the only cartoon I like these days is Spongebob, and I don't have cable, so that's that.
Where would you bury hidden treasure if you had some? Bend over and I'll show ya. Idk man.
What do you drink with dinner? I'm pretty much always drinking a diet soda.
What do you dip a chicken nugget in? I'll usually dip a nugget in ranch or ketchup, and I'll occasionally get sweet and sour sauce at McDonald's.
What is your favorite food? I love chinese food, and then cheese fries with ranch.
Last person you kissed/kissed you? My boyfriend and I kissed at the gas station after work about an hour ago.
Were you ever a boy/girl scout? No, I was not.
Would you ever strip or pose nude in a magazine? Nah, that ain't me.
Ever gotten a speeding ticket? Yes.
Ran out of gas? Almost, and it was one of the scariest times of my life, no joke. It was my first time making the long drive back home by myself, which mind you is like a 10 hour drive, and I was in the middle of the West Virginia mountains with no cell phone service and there wasn't a gas station for miles and my gas light was on and I wasn't sure how long it had been on. I was so scared I was going to get stuck in the mountains alone and not be able to call anyone.
Favorite kind of sandwich? I guess a ham sandwich is my favorite.
Best thing to eat for breakfast? Well, my favorite breakfast of all time is from this little cafe here and it's a platter with French toast with cheesecake filling on top, bacon, eggs and hashbrowns. However, I also love the Sunrise Sampler from Cracker Barrel and a Hardee's chicken biscuit with hashbrowns, lol. I just love breakfast, tbh.
What is your usual bedtime? I go to bed anywhere from 3 to 6 AM. I work 2nd shift.
Are you stubborn? I can be very stubborn when the subject matter is something I feel strongly about or if I am very aggravated, yes. Otherwise, I'd say I'm pretty level-headed.
Who is better...Leno or Letterman? I don't have a preference because I don't follow either of them.
Ever watch soap operas? My great grandma used to always have Days of our Lives playing at her house when she used to babysit my sister and me, so I have some soap opera experience there, yeah. For a little while I was also a fan of Desperate Housewives and Tyler Perry's The Haves and the Have Nots.
Afraid of heights? I say I am, but it's not enough to stop me from things like flying or amusement rides.
Sing in the car? Of course. Singing in the car is awesome.
Dance in the shower? I have before but not regularly, no.
Dance in the car? Heck yeah I do.
Ever used a gun? I have shot a gun, yes.
Last time you got a portrait taken by a photographer? Um...never, Unless you count Christmas pictures I took when I was like 4 or yearbook pictures, lol.
Do you think musicals are cheesy? For the most part, yes.
Is Christmas stressful? Yes. Christmas is lovely, but it is often stressful as well.
Ever eat a pierogi? Yep.
Favorite type of fruit pie? I guess apple, but I'd much rather have pecan pie. Yum.
Occupations you wanted to be when you were a kid? I think the only thing I can remember wanting to be was a teacher.
Do you believe in ghosts? I think so.
Ever have a Deja-vu feeling? Yes.
Take a vitamin daily? No.
Wear slippers? Not really.
Wear a bath robe? Nah.
What do you wear to bed? Pajama pants and a shirt, most of the time.
First concert? *NYSNC. That's right, be jealous, lol.
Wal-Mart, Target or Kmart?
Kmart, Wal-Mart and then Target. Kmart stores are dwindling though. :(
Nike or Adidas? Hm, both. Probably Adidas first because Superstars are my favorite shoes.
Cheetos Or Fritos? Both, but probably Cheetos a little more.
Peanuts or Sunflower seeds? Both. I love nuts in general.
Can you curl your tongue? I can, yes.
Ever been in love? Currently.
Who would you like to see in concert? Oh, there's so many people I'd like to see live because I just love concerts in general. I'd like to see Luke Combs again, Fall Out Boy again (but have them play their old stuff), Def Leppard, Chris Stapleton, Blackbear, etc.
What was the last concert you saw? Luke Combs!
Hot tea or cold tea? I love cold, sweet tea.
Tea or coffee? I like both, but tea a little more.
Sugar or snickerdoodles? Sugar.
Can you swim well? I can swim like a fish, to be honest. I grew up in South Carolina spending every warm day in my grandpa's swimming pool.
Can you hold your breath without holding your nose? I can.
Are you patient? It depends.
DJ or band, at a wedding? I would probably prefer a DJ.
Which are better black or green olives? All olives are disgusting to me.
Do you want kids? I think so but I'm not entirely sure yet.
What's your favorite color? My favorite color is purple.

Billboard is changing the rules to its album charts, affecting the way sales will be counted on those tallies in respect to merchandise bundles. The new rules go into effect Jan. 3, 2020.
Moving forward, in order for an album sale to be counted as part of a merchandise/album bundle, all the items in the bundle must also be available for purchase concurrently and individually on the same website. In addition, the merchandise item sold on its own will have to be priced lower than the bundle which includes both the merchandise and the album. Further, merchandise bundles can only be sold in an artist's official direct-to-consumer web store and not via third-party sites.
Regarding the Jan. 3, 2020, start date, all album releases from that date onward must adhere to the new rules, even if the bundles went on-sale before then. Likewise, for already released albums, those looking to count further sales on the albums charts from must also adhere to the new rules from Jan. 3, 2020, onward.
Under current rules and moving forward, any approved piece of merchandise that is clearly artist- or album-branded can be bundled with a copy of the album, with those sales counting for the charts when the physical album is shipped to the customer or when the digital album is fulfilled to the customer. However, the merchandise/album bundle must be priced at least $3.49 more than the merchandise item alone. ($3.49 is the minimum price of an album to qualify for the charts.)
The changes come as bundles have been at the center of a public debate around the Billboard albums charts, with many arguing these bundled album sales do not reflect customers' true interest in purchasing the album, but, rather, the merchandise it’s packaged with. The new rules look to address that concern, by offering customers the option to purchase the merchandise with or without the album.
The new policies do not affect albums that are part of a concert ticket/album sale redemption offer bundle, where the price of an album is part of the cost of a ticket and the album's inclusion is promoted to the customer at the beginning of their purchase experience. Then, after purchasing the ticket, the customer will receive an offer to redeem the album and have it mailed to them or to download it. Only the albums that are redeemed count toward Billboard's charts, indicating a desire by a consumer to receive the album.
The sales strategy of album bundles is decades-old, but in recent years the practice has become increasingly popular as the industry tries to find new ways to sell albums -- as customers are buying fewer albums in favor of streaming their favorite new releases.
Year to date in 2019 (through Nov. 21), album sales have fallen 19% compared to the same point a year ago. And, for the full year of 2018, album sales dropped by 17.7% to 141 million -- the lowest number of albums sold in a year since Nielsen Music began electronically tracking sales in 1991.
Many artists have taken advantage of bundle offers, with nearly every No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart now getting a boost by a bundle. Among the artists who topped the Billboard 200 in 2019 thanks in part to bundling efforts (either via a ticket bundle or a merchandise bundle, or both): Celine Dion, Luke Combs, Kanye West, SuperM, Post Malone, Taylor Swift, Madonna, NF, Tyler, the Creator, Billie Eilish, Khalid, Jonas Brothers, Vampire Weekend, Ariana Grande, Thomas Rhett and Backstreet Boys.

Jonas Brothers' 'Happiness Begins' Album Debuts at No. 1 on Billboard 200 Chart With Biggest Week of 2019
6/17/2019 by Keith Caulfield

It’s the pop trio’s third No. 1 album. Plus: Santana, Luke Combs, Future & Polo G debut in top 10.
Jonas Brothers celebrate their third No. 1 album on the Billboard 200, as Happiness Begins bows atop the chart. The set earned 414,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. in the week ending June 13, of which 357,000 were in album sales. Both figures represent the largest week of the year for any album in terms of units and album sales.
Happiness Begins was released June 7 via Republic Records and is the pop trio’s first studio album since 2009’s chart-topping Lines, Vines and Trying Times.
The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units. Units are comprised of traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The new June 22-dated chart (where Happiness debuts at No. 1) will be posted in full on Billboard's websites on June 18.
In total, Happiness Begins’ starting sum of 414,000 equivalent album units are comprised of 357,000 in album sales, 52,000 in SEA units and 5,000 in TEA units.
Let’s take a look at some of the notable achievements the Jonas Brothers claim with the bow of Happiness Begins:
Biggest Week of 2019 for an Album: Happiness Begins launches with 414,000 equivalent album units, the biggest week of 2019 for any album. The last album to post a larger week was Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter V (also released via Republic Records), which started at No. 1 on the Oct. 13, 2018-dated chart with 480,000 units earned. (Happiness surpasses 2019’s previous high-water mark for an album, when Ariana Grande’s Thank U, Next -- another Republic title -- bowed at No. 1 with 360,000 units on the Feb. 23 chart.)
Largest Sales Week for an Album in More Than a Year: Of Happiness’ debut-week units, album sales comprise 357,000 of that sum. That’s the largest sales week for an album since Taylor Swift’s reputation blew in with 1.22 million sold on the Dec. 2, 2017, chart. Happiness’ first-week sales were largely powered by sales generated from a concert ticket/album sale redemption offer with more than 60 dates of the group’s upcoming U.S. arena tour.
Jonas Brothers’ Biggest Sales Week in More Than a Decade: The last Jonas Brothers album to log a larger sales week than Happiness was A Little Bit Longer, which bowed with 525,000 sold on the Aug. 30, 2008-dated list (at No. 1).
Biggest Week for a Pop Album Since 2017: The last pop album to tally a larger week in total units was Swift’s reputation, when it bowed with 1.24 million equivalent album units earned (Dec. 2, 2017 chart).
Largest Week for an Album by a Group in More Than 3 Years: One has to scroll all the way back to the debut frame of One Direction’s Made in the A.M. to find a larger week racked up by an album from a group; the set started at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 dated Dec. 5, 2015, with 459,000 units. (Happiness also has the biggest sales week for an album by a group since Made in the A.M., as it bowed with 402,000 copies sold.)
Biggest Streaming Album of the Week: Happiness debuts with 52,000 in SEA units, which translates to 68.09 million on-demand audio streams for its songs in its first week. That makes it the album with the most streams for the week.
Happiness Begins was led by the single “Sucker,” which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart March 16 and marked the act’s first No. 1 on the tally. The track has also ruled the all-format Radio Songs chart for six weeks, as of the most recently published chart (dated June 15). A second radio-promoted single, “Cool,” has also reached the top 40 of both lists.
