Then come to our stream of Děti Húrinovy (Children of Húrin) by Falešné Společenstvo (a czech musical theatre group who has to date 6 full-length Silmarillion musicals). There is loss, grief, pain and anguish in spades, and the occasional unexpected, but very welcome humorous interlude. Also gorgeous music.

"But I don't speak Czech?" Me neither! But luckily for you they have just added english subtitles :D

Mîm and the yellow flags at Tarn Aeluin

a different facet of the character! I've wanted to draw something like this since I first read the Complaint and a while ago I realised that we finally got the English original!

Here is a translation of the verse part of Tolkien's 'The Complaint of Mîm the Dwarf' into French. As far as I'm aware, this poem was first published in a German translation ('Mîm's Klage') by Hans J. Schütz and it's only recently become available in English with the publication of the Collected Poems so it seems fitting to include for this event! But mostly it's become I love it. I first became aware of it thanks to this beautiful art piece by @helyannis

also I didn't have enough time to spend on this so the meter and the rhyme scheme are pretty nonsensical - ah well!

Sous une montagne, dans des terres sauvages, S’ouvrait une caverne au sol sablonneux. Un soir Mîm se tenait devant l’huis : Barbe comme givre, dos gibbeux. Bien loin il avait erré, sans foyer et sans feu, Mîm le petit-Nain, deux cents ans passés. Tout ce qu’il avait bâti, tout ce qu’il avait fait - A la hache, au burin, à la pelle, au marteau - On lui avait volé ; ses ennemis ne lui avaient laissé Que sa vie, quelques outils, et un couteau A la lame venimeuse, sous une houppelande Loqueteuse. Ses yeux rougis par la fumée, Cillaient. On avait enflammé ronces et brande Jetées dans ses tunnels, pour l’enfumer Le chasser. Oh, brightest sun (TRSB 2023)

A hommage to Gustav Klimt's The Kiss. Acrylic paint on canvas, with gold acrylic colour, 45x45cm. This scene had fascinated me ever since I read about it in the Nature of Middle-earth, and even more so when I became obsessed with Mîm as a character. While the ship of Mîmrod was born in a discord server I am in as a joke, that joke led to me originally drafting the sketch for this painting.

@goschatewabn has taken up this prompt- in a pinchhit no less - and has written, a beautiful, beautiful, fic that also absolutely tears my heart out. Find more info & the link to the fic below!

I finished editing my most recent fic "Shadows of Us" on Saturday!

Finrod is truamatized from the sudden responsibility thrust upon him and from crossing the Helcaraxë. When he receives a message stating the Petty-dwarves of Nargothrond plan to murder his people, he exiles them. Mîm decides to assassinate Finrod to stop him. What could go wrong?

This AU explores the question of what might have motivated Mîm to attempt to assassinate Finrod (mentioned in NoMe), and the fallout resulting from it within the context of a traumatized Finrod. And to spice things up, I added Mîm's original power in laying curses (mentioned in HoMe). This fic, especially the ending, is inspired by the song "Can't Catch Me Now" ; )
