Theo getting groceries and Mindy texting him to get another bottle of shampoo for her. Theo going through and smelling every bottle trying to figure out which one it is because he can’t remember what kind she has, but he definitely remembers how it smells.

Austin’s working a shift, so Mindy and Theo are just laying on the couch watching Investigation Discovery. 

Mindy’s running her fingers through his hair. Usually, Theo doesn’t like people messing with his hair, but when Mindy does it, it’s soothing. Maybe a little too soothing, because Theo’s half-asleep. 

“Do you want me to braid it?”

Theo shrugs. “You can if you want.”

Mindy gets up to get a brush, and Theo sits down on the floor so she can reach.

She divides his hair down the middle, tying one side off with a hairbow while she french braids the other. 

Mindy’s a lot more gentle braiding his hair than she is when she braids Anna’s or Cait’s hair, but Theo thinks that might just be Mindy not knowing how tender-headed he is. 

Theo reaches back to touch the finished braid as Mindy works on the other. It’s a bit looser than the braids she normally does, but that’s probably because Mindy wasn’t pulling it as tight. Mindy smacks his hand away. 

It only takes Mindy about two minutes to finish. After she ties off the second braid, she tugs on it until he tips his head back and then kisses his forehead. 

Theo blinks, turning to look at Mindy. She flushes a little, a cute pink making her freckles slightly less visible. “Um. Sorry. Habit. Cordelia always did that when she braided my hair and it’s. Yeah.”

“I didn’t mind, you just surprised me.” 

Mindy smiles. 

Her phone chimes on the table, and she reaches for it. “Austin says he’s on his way home now. Wants to know if we want him to pick up food.”

Theo leans back resting his head on her knee. “Tell him yes, but it better be something other than Mexican food.”

Mindy laughs and texts him back.

Michael: i cannot stand anyone dating my baby sister Cordelia: oh yeah, mindy wanted me to let you know she’s dating theo now Michael: ok i will make an exception because he looks very polite (im so sorry for referencing such an archaic meme)

It’s important to also realize that Michael found out Mindy and Austin were dating because they were making out at a party, while on the other hand he found out about Theo because Mindy told him and then introduced him

Michael likes Theo more than Austin for some reason, so surprisingly good? Plus, he had time to adjust to his baby sis dating someone this time

They’re together, but not everyone knows yet. They’re in that soft, shy, sweet not-quite-a-honeymoon-phase stage right now. Mindy got Cordelia to break the news to Michael and he was surprisingly fine with it. Theo’s a little self-conscious because it’s one thing to start dating two other people at the same time and another to start dating two people who are in an already-established relationship but it’s literally impossible to feel bad about anything when Mindy is cuddling you.

Theo, texting Mindy because Austin told him to go to the doctor and threatened to drive over to make him go: hey so what’s the best over the counter painkiller 

Mindy: *names random painkiller* why?

Austin, also texting Mindy: Tell Theo he has fucking APPENDICITIS and needs to go to the ACTUAL EMERGENCY ROOM

Mindy, texting Theo back: YOU HAVE APPENDICITIS AND YOU AREN’T ALREADY AT A DOCTOR?

So, when they came out to everyone, MN/TX/OK, who was on the scale of surprised and who was like, “figured”. I also feel like Brook and Cali gave Austin the most wicked smirk and were like, “Welcome to the queer life!” Or “finally” mostly after that bi disaster Austin phase they were subjected to.

Caleb: “wait a moment I thought they didn’t like each other?”

Addison was actually a little surprised because she thought it was one of those things were they missed their chance, but she was really happy

Carmen was honestly more surprised Austin had the guts than she was about the three of them ending up together 

Brooke and Cal would both like to say they called it
