Each version starts with the same spirit, distilled 8 September 2006 and counts 8 years of maturation in classic ex-bourbon casks. In April 2015 this was transferred to three different types of casks that are typical for Portugal: Madeira casks from Blandy's Tawny Port casks from Symington's brands (Dow's, Warre's, Graham's...) 🎉 Fèis ile 2025 - The Ultimate Islay Whisky & Music Festival 🥃 is a gathering of whisky and Islay fans from across the globe. In the last week of May, Islay celebrate, her culture and her spirit, and community of Islay with a week of world-class whisky, live music, and unforgettable experiences, that defines the whisky calendar.

Fèis Ìle has risen to international renown, attracting tourists and whisky lovers from around the globe. The festival and the spirit of Islay are much intertwined. The island’s peaty terroir lends itself to unique whiskies, which have been a fixture here since 1779 (Bowmore Distillery)

The island’s population can triple during the festival, and as an attendee, you are encouraged to explore the island, meet the locals, dance, drink, and be merry.

Each distillery has their own open day where they put on tastings, tours, music entertainment and much more! Each has their own unique festival atmosphere, and fantastic range of whiskies and more!

The Fèis Ìle Committee also host a wide range of events: ceilidh's, Folk Nights, whisky nosings, the epic First and Final Flings and much more. They focus on the music and the culture, providing a perfect Islay experience.

The original Festival Committee was formed in 1985 to extend the Islay tourist season and bring more visitors to the island. The very first festival was held in 1986, and Islay looks forward to celebrating its 40th anniversary with you when it comes.

The isle of Islay is famous for its world, and renowned distilleries. There are nine active whisky distilleries on the island of Islay, Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 The distilleries are: Ardbeg, Ardnahoe, Bowmore, Bruichladdich, Bunnahabhain, Caol Ila, Kilchoman, Lagavulin, and Laphroaig. Port Ellen and Jura also joins the festival as a participating distillery with a limited edition release.

This year, iconic distilleries Lagavulin and Caol Ila are unveiling bold limited-edition festival bottlings:
