Los Transformers eran EL juguete a tener en el Chile de 1987. Pero eran caros y pocas personas podían costearlos. Esto le dio la oportunidad a los robots transformables "alternativos" de hacerse interesantes.

Había sin embargo, cierto castigo social a tener las figuras alternativas, pues carecían del infame sello de calor, el que fue anunciado como la prueba definitiva de autenticidad en los comerciales que remataban con el nombre de Abramovicz, importador oficial de los Transformers en Chile. Si el robot no lo tenía, caía inmediatamente a la categoría infame de falso, sin importar si fuera o no una buena pieza en sí.

Y recuerdo que un compañero de curso entonces - Matías Barros, si la memoria no me falla, quien más tarde se iría con su familia a la ciudad de Talca - tenía esta figura, Baron von Joy. Yo, siendo ya un fanático de los autos en esa época, reconocí inmediatamente que no era un Porsche 935 Turbo como Jazz. No obstante, también me di cuenta que ese Porsche 911 (930) Turbo estaba demasiado bien hecho como para ser una baratija. Me tomó un buen tiempo - de hecho, ya mayor de edad - averiguar que había sido usado como un GoBot, con un nombre ridículo. Realmente quería conseguir uno, ya que es un juguete muy bien construido. Este es el segundo ejemplar que consigo, y el que voy a conservar, ya que está en suficientemente buen estado.
