In the past few years, the semiconductor and EDA industries have been through several changes. And, perhaps, in this Intellectual property (IP) has significantly contributed as well. Semiconductor intellectual property (IP) or IP cores are basically the reusable unit of logic or functionality that is generally developed with the idea of certifying to multiple dealers for use as structuring blocks in different chip designs.

It is used to develop advanced integrated circuits (IC’s). These design components are traded as verification units and therefore called intellectual property. Furthermore, these IP cores are combined to produce system on chip (SoC), application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs), and application-specific standard products (ASSPs).

Attributed to the applications and utilization of IP core, the industry has witnessed increased demand. Also, the market players have highly contributed to the development and innovations in IP cores. However, the increasing competition has led the companies to adopt numerous strategies such as collaborations, new product launches, and business expansions.
