flow of our lives — I. a mr. crawling series built around the sweet mundane. — part 1 of ?
word count — 0.6k summary — you take care of crawling to make up for past bitterness. notes — SFW. gn reader (no pronouns). END04 implied. bold = otherworld language. we call him "crawling" here, because we're close enough with him now to drop the honorific.
You must use force to twist the knob of the faucet (more now than before your foray into that world) and let the water roll, until you stop it at the lip of the bucket. You dip your fingers in. It is warm, and the heat is not far from your own, not too harsh. Crawling will not shy away.
He loves you—so much. He has a zest for your life, like a sweet, loyal dog; he loves you like a dog loves the chocolate in your hand. You did not always love him the way he deserved: to this day, he wears you proudly on his face (in the blood you had shed when you plunged your crowbar down his face). You soak a microfiber cloth in the water, tip Crawling’s chin with the bed of your thumb, and press the cloth to his cheek.
“Hot?” he says.
Your face drops to a look of concern. “Many hot? You hurt?”
“Not hurt. Little hot feel good.” He tilts his head, burrows his cheek into the cloth. “Why you have this?”
The water of the Otherworld is cold and hard and stagnant. Crawling knows the hot of a scared, throbbing heart; of the fire meant to ward off his kind. When you take up your cloth and wipe the grime from his chin, you show him warm: a nice heat, that is not here to hurt him.
“Your face… have blood. Blood… go out of your face—me happy.”
“Happy?”
His hands dart to the cloth. He tries to wrest it from your grip and drag it toward the center of his face.
“Calm down—not… move.” Since the Otherworld has no word that you know for please—“friendly.”
You know Crawling can handle himself. He braved the Otherworld as long as he did, and you trust him now to keep your apartment during the day: he mops floors and folds clothing, prompted and not. Still—it is you that must make sure he knows: you are not here to hurt him.
He never let the other ghosts touch him (not like this—not at all). Perhaps he forgave you already—loves you just that much.
You bring one hand to cradle the back of his head; the other gives his face gentle strokes. His body melts beneath your touch; he swipes his face against the cloth to help you out. The cloth blackens quickly: one half of his face requires four dips in the bucket. You see now just how pale he is, not that ash-gray you thought it was at all—in fact, so white his veins show dark as tadpoles on his skin.
You glide the cloth below his curtained bangs. Your fingertips cave in on the crest of his cheekbone. “You okay?”
“My eyes… not able to clean. Sorry.”
“You should not sorry,” you say, in an attempt at your clearest Otherworld pronunciation. Crawling hides his eyes and downplays his height, and you are sure it is for you, so as not to repulse you—yet he cannot make you hate him if he tried. “You good.” You stroke the crown of his head, the way he likes; a giggle escapes his broadened mouth.
You do what you can—you kiss the bridge of his nose, then rise to change the water. The skin that lines his sockets has the gravity of jowls, lined in essence with the slick of fresh blood. You either cause him no pain, or he hides it for you. Really—what have you done to deserve him, who loves you so much?
(This—
You look at him as if he is a jewel in your hands. He has never been treasured. Not like this, not at all.
The breathy rumbling of his giggles, from his chest to his cheeks, brings a flutter to your heart, and a warmth to your gaze. All you have done is be fond of him, made the smallest things you do his world.
The Otherworld is simple, in that only the strong survive—and so when you show him warm, he knows you’re true, and that is all.)

actually good cleaning hacks from someone who’s been through some shit
Get a steam mop I don’t care how much it is or cheap, just get one
if you have a pet invest in a wet dry vacuum, you will thank me.
get cleaning cloths you actually like the feel of, if you hate microfiber get a cheap set of tea towels and use them instead. Or chop up a dead tee shirt and use that.
plug in vacuums are 2x more powerful than non-plug in vacuums. You trade sucking power for mobility with cordless, so think that over when you get one.
buying a cheap mop every time one gets moldy is cheaper than having to deal with any mold you get from using a moldy mop.
invest in disinfectant/antifungal/antiviral/antibacterial liquid for your laundry, because that stuff makes getting rid of moldy musty musky shit easy. And it cleans your cleaning cloths without getting them greasy or soapy.
to fix “I accidentally left my clothes in the washing machine too long now they smell like mold” thing, you will need antifungal laundry liquid and the literal sun. Wash your clothes on the hottest setting you can with your clothing materials in mind, add the antifungal before you start, let it go for like 2 hours. And put it in the sun to dry. Repeat if it still smells moldy, until it doesn’t anymore, works like a charm!
to clean crystalline dog piss, you will need water, a steam mop, a wet dry vacuum (depending on if it’s in a carpet) dog cleaning spray or vinegar. Basically , rehydrate the piss, clean it up with dog spray or HOT vinegarish water, grab a steam mop and steam it (if not on carpet) and viola it should be okay now.
If it’s in the carpet you will need to rehydrate the piss, then just dowse the piss with water, use the wet dry vacuum to suck up the water, repeat until water comes up clean. Use whatever pet cleaner that’s good on your carpet to get the smell out, Patch test it in the corner of the carpet before you do it on the piss spot, soak up and remaining water from the carpet until it’s dry or blow dry it if you have to. And tada you have a cleaner carpet! The same works for dog shit too.
drain snakes are your best friend if you don’t remember to get the hair out the drain.
have one sponge for wiping down the sink and one for washing your dishes, because sometimes it’s easier to use a sponge to wipe down the sink than a cleaning cloth.
You can put sponges in the dishwasher and it cleans them REALLY WELL, do it everyday if you can.
Invest in a good glass cleaner for glass because when it gets greasy it’s hell.
Koh cleaner will literally cut through grease and oil, and fat. Like it wasn’t even there, if you don’t have the money white vinegar and bi-carbs does the same thing. Though be careful because it’s reactive and might destroy your countertop or pots, just invest in koh your life won’t be the same. (I can clean all the grease off things, that’s how good it works. Plus it doesn’t smell!!!)
Replace your toilet cleaner every 3 months, or make sure you don’t let it fester. That’s more of a hassle than replacing it every now and then.
Get a good dish soap, because you can use it for everything because of how mild it is.
After mopping always steam mop otherwise it will always be streaky or tacky, idk why but steam mops fix this 9/10 times.
there’s more, but I;m too tired.
#-pop#disability#I’m disabled and these hacks have saved me so much suffering and pain#I’m always in pain after cleaning but this way is way easier to clean shit up#STEAM MOPS FOR LIFE#if you have no money for a vacuum there’s these fancy sweeps 🧹 that have 2 discs that move and collect the dust and crumbs they#Are SO WORTH IT#cleaner#cleaning#laundry#cleaning tips#decluttering#mental health stuff#activism stuff

Today at work some old guy dropped a gallon of sweet tea and it exploded.
I was like ah, it happens, I'll get it and when I had a lull in customers, I got out the mop.
Manager was like "What happened?" so I told her. She asked if he'd paid for it and I was like "well, no?"
"If you break it you buy it."
"Oh, I didn't know."
"He didn't help clean it up?"
and
Inside I was like do you WANT a lawsuit when this feeble elderly dude slips and breaks something? Because that's what would happen if someone that didn't work at the store got injured doing work for free at the store without properly being registered as an employee or a volunteer.
On the outside I was like no he was old and feeble.
Now the problem, really, is that I don't mop. I hurt my hips and back in the army and the action that goes with mopping hurts, but I was the only employee so I had to mop.
When I clean my floors at home I either get down there with a scrubby brush, a microfiber cloth, and a bucket or two of water depending on how spry I'm feeling, or I put a microfiber cloth on the Swiffer and use that with repeated rinsings. I did my best with the string mop, even though I shouldn't. I know how to do it without hurting myself but it's not effective at all.
I feel bad for whomever is closing today because there is sticky sugar residue alllll over the floor.
I also didn't get any sleep last night because there were so many very loud thunderstorms.
Having a not-amazing week. It's not been too bad, though. Just kind of not great.

How to Keep Your Historic Home Spotless Before the Night at the Pioneer Florida Museum
How to Keep Your Historic Home Spotless Before the Night at the Pioneer Florida Museum
A “Night at the Pioneer Florida Museum” is more than just an evening of culture and celebration—it’s a cherished tradition that brings the charm of Dade City’s history to life. If you live in a historic home nearby, chances are you're either hosting guests, entertaining after the event, or simply want your space to reflect the same timeless elegance showcased at the museum. But keeping a historic home spotless—without compromising its character—requires a special touch.
Here’s a guide to maintaining a pristine, guest-ready historic home before this memorable night, so your space honors the heritage and beauty of the past while offering all the warmth of modern hospitality.
1. Dust with Care—Preserve the Details
Older homes often feature intricate woodwork, crown molding, and original architectural features that accumulate dust easily. Use microfiber cloths or soft brushes to gently clean:
Baseboards, chair rails, and window trim
Antique furniture and cabinetry
Light fixtures and chandeliers
Vintage photo frames and wall hangings
Avoid harsh chemicals that could damage delicate surfaces or aged finishes—opt for gentle, wood-safe cleaners or even a vinegar-and-water solution for natural dusting.
2. Polish Your Floors the Right Way
Historic homes often feature original hardwood, tile, or stone floors that require thoughtful cleaning:
Sweep and vacuum daily to keep dust and grit from scratching surfaces.
Use pH-neutral floor cleaners specific to your flooring type to avoid damage.
For hardwood: lightly damp mop and avoid excessive water.
For tile or stone: gently scrub grout lines and buff to restore shine.
Rugs with anti-slip pads can protect traffic areas while adding charm. Just be sure to shake them out or vacuum thoroughly before guests arrive.
3. Focus on Focal Points: Windows, Doors & Entryways
Guests will likely gather around these visual anchors during your pre- or post-event get-together:
Clean glass panes with a streak-free solution—especially if you have vintage windows or transoms.
Polish doorknobs, handles, and hinges—brass and bronze shine beautifully with the right polish.
Refresh your entry porch or front door area—sweep, dust railings, and place a clean welcome mat.
A sparkling entryway mirrors the hospitality and elegance often seen at the Pioneer Museum itself.
4. Refresh Historic Kitchens Without Disrupting Character
Many historic homes blend old-world charm with updated appliances. Keep this area clean and functional for guests:
Wipe down vintage cabinets with gentle soap and water—avoid scrubbing painted or aged wood.
Polish exposed hardware and faucets.
Deep clean stovetops and sinks but avoid harsh abrasives.
Tuck away countertop clutter and organize any tea sets, glassware, or antique dishes you may want to showcase.
If your kitchen includes a fireplace or hearth, give it a quick dusting and vacuum around the edges to highlight its character.
5. Make Bathrooms Shine—Quietly and Elegantly
Historic homes may have small or uniquely shaped bathrooms, but cleanliness always makes them shine:
Scrub sinks, toilets, and tile thoroughly.
Use soft cloths to clean old fixtures—many are made from antique materials that deserve care.
Add fresh towels, gentle hand soap, and candles or diffusers with classic scents like lavender or rose.
A small floral arrangement in a mason jar or antique pitcher can enhance the space without modernizing it.
6. Watch the Walls and Ceilings
Plaster walls and ceilings in older homes can be prone to dust and cobwebs. Use a long-handled duster to:
Clear corners and edges around ceilings and crown molding.
Wipe gently around vintage vents or medallions.
Spot-clean smudges or fingerprints without scrubbing away paint or texture.
This small step helps the entire room feel brighter and more refreshed, especially when paired with clean lighting fixtures.
7. Create a Clean, Cohesive Atmosphere
Your historic home offers an experience, not just a space. Think beyond dusting:
Vacuum upholstery and shake out curtains if they haven’t been cleaned recently.
Use subtle lighting like lamps or candle sconces to create ambiance.
Play light, vintage-style music in the background to complement the museum-themed evening.
Consider giving your home a light natural scent using simmer pots (like cinnamon and citrus) to evoke a cozy, old-world feeling that doesn’t overpower the space.
8. Tidy Outdoor Spaces with Historic Charm
If guests will pass through or linger outdoors, give your exterior a quick cleanup:
Sweep porches, walkways, and garden paths.
Polish or dust wrought iron railings, columns, or wooden shutters.
Clean porch furniture and check lighting fixtures.
Add a small seating area with vintage chairs or rockers to extend your hospitality outside.
A tidy yard or porch reflects the same kind of care and heritage Zephyrhills and Dade City are known for preserving.
Final Thoughts: Honor the Past, Celebrate the Present
Living in a historic home is a privilege—and during cultural events like a Night at the Pioneer Florida Museum, it’s a beautiful opportunity to open your doors in the same spirit of tradition and hospitality. With a thoughtful, gentle deep clean, your home can shine with the charm of the past and the comfort of the present.
So sweep the porch, polish the doorknobs, and light a candle or two—because when your home is spotless, warm, and welcoming, you’re not just hosting a guest. You’re keeping history alive.

Tips for Refinishing Hardwood Flooring in Mundelein
Refinishing hardwood flooring is one of the most effective ways to rejuvenate your home’s interior, enhance property value, and extend the life of your investment. In Mundelein, where changing seasons can take a toll on hardwood surfaces, regular refinishing becomes especially essential. Whether you're aiming to restore a weathered floor or simply give your home a fresh new look, the right techniques and guidance can make all the difference.

Why Refinishing Is Necessary for Hardwood Floors in Mundelein
Over time, hardwood flooring begins to show signs of wear: scratches, fading, dullness, and stains are all common indicators that it’s time for a refinish. In Mundelein, the mix of cold winters and humid summers causes natural expansion and contraction in wood, accelerating surface damage.
Refinishing helps:
Eliminate surface imperfections
Restore natural color and grain
Enhance protective finishes
Increase home value and visual appeal
This process also allows homeowners to change the stain color if they desire a new design direction.
Evaluate If Your Floor Needs Refinishing or Replacing
Before committing to a refinishing project, assess whether your floor is suitable for sanding and sealing.
Signs It's Time to Refinish
Surface-level scratches and scuffs
Fading or discoloration from sunlight
Minor water stains
Dullness even after cleaning
Signs It May Need Replacement
Deep gouges that penetrate the wood
Warped or cupped boards
Severe water damage
Very thin floorboards (after multiple previous refinishings)
Consulting with the best hardwood flooring contractor near Mundelein can help determine whether refinishing or replacement is the better option.
Types of Refinishing: Sanding vs. Screening
Not all refinishing jobs require full sanding. Understanding the type of refinishing your floor needs is key to preserving the wood’s integrity.
1. Sanding and Refinishing
This is a deep restoration process. It involves sanding down to bare wood, re-staining (if desired), and applying several layers of protective finish.
Ideal when:
There are deep scratches or dents
You want to change the stain color
The existing finish is heavily worn
2. Screening and Recoating
Also called buff and coat, this method involves light abrasion of the existing finish before applying a new topcoat.
Ideal when:
The floor is in good condition overall
You want to refresh sheen or luster
You do not want to change the color
Step-by-Step Hardwood Floor Refinishing Process
1. Preparation
Clear the room of all furniture and rugs
Clean the floor thoroughly to remove dust, wax, and debris
Repair any loose boards or protruding nails
2. Sanding
Use a drum sander for main surfaces and an edger for borders
Progress through sanding grits: typically 36, 60, and 100
Ensure even sanding to avoid dips and waves
3. Dust Removal
Vacuum meticulously
Use tack cloths or microfiber mops to capture remaining dust
4. Staining (Optional)
Choose a stain that complements your interior design
Apply evenly with rags or brushes and wipe off excess
5. Finishing
Apply at least 2–3 coats of polyurethane or water-based finish
Allow proper drying time between coats
Lightly buff between coats for smoothness
Best Finishes for Hardwood Floors in Mundelein Homes
Oil-Based Polyurethane
Rich, amber tone
Durable and water-resistant
Longer drying time but stronger protection
Water-Based Polyurethane
Clear, non-yellowing finish
Quick drying and low odor
Eco-friendly and suitable for homes with children or pets
Hardwax Oil Finishes
Penetrates wood for a natural feel
Easily repairable without full sanding
Requires more frequent maintenance

Common Mistakes to Avoid When Refinishing
Skipping dust removal, which can trap particles under the finish
Inconsistent sanding, leading to uneven absorption of stain
Rushing the drying process, which compromises durability
Applying thick coats, resulting in bubbles or streaks
DIY without proper tools, risking long-term damage
To ensure a flawless result, it’s wise to work with a skilled professional, especially for larger or high-traffic areas.
Hiring the Best Hardwood Flooring Contractor Near Mundelein
The success of your refinishing project largely depends on who you hire. A certified and experienced contractor will ensure that your floors are restored to their original elegance—safely, quickly, and with expert craftsmanship.

Microfiber Mop For Hardwood Floors

Expert Advice: How Often Should You Clean Your Hardwood Floors?
Many homeowners find maintaining hardwood floors challenging. Here is the perfect cleaning routine to keep those gorgeous floors gleaming. Let’s explore how to make those hardwood floors shine!
Key Takeaways
Clean hardwood floors daily with a microfiber mop to remove dirt and prevent scratches.
Vacuum weekly using a soft brush attachment to protect the wood surface.
Damp mop in high-traffic areas weekly and in all regions monthly with a pH-neutral cleaner.
Perform deep cleaning once or twice a year using warm water and natural dish soap.
Keep indoor humidity between 35% and 55% to prevent warping and damage to hardwood floors.
Understanding Hardwood Floor Maintenance
Hardwood floors need regular care to stay beautiful. Factors like foot traffic and spills affect how often they should be cleaned.
Factors Affecting Cleaning Frequency
Several factors impact how often we need to clean our hardwood floors. Foot traffic plays a big role. Homes with many people or pets require more frequent cleaning. Areas near doors or in hallways get dirtier faster, too.
We must clean these high-traffic spots more often to keep them looking good.
Our home’s location also matters. Houses in dusty or humid areas require extra care. Dust can scratch floors, while moisture can warp wood. We should aim to keep indoor humidity between 35% and 55%.
This helps protect our floors. Lifestyle choices also affect cleaning needs. If we wear shoes inside or have kids who play on the floor, we’ll need to clean more often. Weekly cleaning works for most homes, but busier households may need twice-weekly care.
Daily, Weekly, and Monthly Care Guidelines
Proper care keeps hardwood floors looking great for years. Our guidelines help you maintain your floors with ease.
Daily care:
Sweep or dust mop floors daily to remove dirt and debris.
Use a microfiber mop for the best results.
Clean up spills right away to prevent staining.
Place mats at entrances to catch dirt.
Weekly care:
Vacuum floors with a soft brush attachment.
Damp mop high-traffic areas using a pH-neutral cleaner.
Trim pet nails to avoid scratches.
Monthly care:
Damp mop all areas, not just high-traffic spots.
Check for any scratches or damage.
Use a recommended wood floor cleaner.
Avoid products that promise to shine or polish.
Seasonal care:
Deep clean floors every 3-4 months.
Use a professional cleaning service if needed.
Apply a fresh coat of finish as recommended by the manufacturer.
Next, look at daily cleaning tips and techniques to keep your floors in shape.
Daily Cleaning Techniques
Daily cleaning keeps hardwood floors looking great. We’ll show you quick and easy ways to maintain your wood floors daily.
Sweeping With a Microfiber Mop
We recommend sweeping hardwood floors daily with a microfiber mop. This simple task keeps dirt and debris from scratching the wood surface. Microfiber mops work great for hardwood floor care because they trap small particles without pushing them around.
For high-traffic areas, daily sweeping is a must. Less busy spots can be swept every few days.
A clean floor is the foundation of a beautiful home.
Our next tip focuses more on dirt and on handling spills and stains immediately to protect your floors.
Immediate Spot Cleaning
After sweeping with a microfiber mop, we must focus on immediate spot cleaning. Quick action is key to preventing lasting damage to hardwood floors. We grab an absorbent cloth as soon as spills happen.
Experts like Whitehall Carpet Cleaners recommend a natural hardwood floor cleaner for tough stains. A damp paper towel works well for minor touch-ups. We avoid harsh chemicals like vinegar, which can harm the wood’s finish.
Weekly and Monthly Cleaning Routines
Weekly and monthly cleaning keeps your hardwood floors in top shape. We’ll show you how to vacuum and mop correctly for best results.
Vacuuming With a Soft Brush Attachment
Whitehall Carpet Cleaners recommends vacuuming hardwood floors once a week with a soft brush attachment. This method helps prevent scratches and damage to the wood surface. We suggest using a canister vacuum with a long, oval brush for best results.
If you have an upright model, turn off the rotating brush to protect your floors.
Pet owners should invest in a vacuum designed for animal hair. These machines often have HEPA filters and potent suction power. Regular vacuuming stops grit and dirt from scratching the engineered wood floors.
Next, let’s explore wet mopping techniques for a deeper clean.
Wet Mopping With Recommended Cleaners
Aim to mop your hardwood floors weekly with a microfiber or damp mop and mild cleaner. A floor cleaner spray works excellently for wet mopping. Spray a small 3-foot by 3-foot area and mop with a microfiber or damp mop afterward.
This method keeps our floors clean without using too much water, which can damage wood.
The high-traffic areas need weekly mopping, while low-traffic spots can wait for monthly or quarterly cleaning. We always avoid soaking the floor with water-damp mopping. Instead, we use just enough cleaner to remove dirt and grime.
This careful approach helps maintain our hardwood’s beauty and extends its life.
Seasonal Deep Cleaning
Seasonal deep cleaning keeps hardwood floors in top shape. We recommend doing this once or twice a year with the right tools and methods.
Necessary Tools and Products
Whitehall Carpet Cleaners always recommends specific tools for deep cleaning hardwood floors. A soft-bristled broom or vacuum with a soft brush attachment is vital. These tools remove dust and dirt without scratching the wood.
We also use a microfiber mop, which picks up fine particles and doesn’t leave streaks.
For cleaning solutions, we prefer natural dish soap mixed with warm water. This gentle mix cleans well without harming the wood. Some people add a few drops of olive oil for extra shine.
For tough stains, use a hardwood floor deep cleaner. It’s made just for wood floors and works great. Always check the cleaning product and label to ensure it’s safe for your floor type.
Step-by-Step Deep Cleaning Process
Deep-cleaning hardwood floors keep them looking great. Here’s our step-by-step process for a thorough cleaning:
Clear the area: Remove all furniture and rugs from the floor.
Dust thoroughly: Use a microfiber dust mop to remove loose dirt and debris.
Vacuum carefully: Run a vacuum with a soft brush attachment over the entire floor.
Prepare cleaning solution: Mix warm water with a few drops of natural dish soap in a bucket.
Damp mop: Dip a microfiber mop in the solution, wring it out well, and mop in small sections.
Rinse mop often: Change the water when it gets dirty to avoid spreading grime.
Dry the floor: To prevent water damage, follow the damp mop with a dry microfiber mop.
Spot clean: Use a soft cloth to remove scuff marks or stubborn stains.
Polish (optional): Apply a hardwood floor polish for extra shine and protection.
Replace items: Return furniture and rugs once the floor is completely dry.
Conclusion
Regular cleaning keeps hardwood floors beautiful and long-lasting. We recommend daily sweeping, weekly vacuuming, and monthly deep cleaning. These habits prevent dirt buildup and protect your hardwood floor cleaner when it’s finished.
Use the right tools and cleaners for your specific wood floor type. With proper care, your hardwood floors will shine for years to come. Contact Whitehall Carpet Cleaners to get your hardwood floor cleaned professionally.

The Party
It was the last day of school in Abbott Elementary and Lina was sad to see the students go, but happy that her job was done for the summer even though she has her seasonal job at Costco which paid better than her teaching job, but she loved teaching. Janine was throwing a party at her place and she invited the main teachers she talked to which were Lina, Jacob, Melissa, and Barbara along with a few other teachers.
It was the assembly for the students that were moving up a grade and the teachers were in the back. Lina stood with Gregory, Janine, Jacob and Melissa when they were talking about the party.
“Hey, Janine. So, for your party tonight, are you sure you don’t want to do it at Barbara’s since she offered? And since it’s a house and has rooms, plural?” Melissa asked.
“While that offer has the power to give me joy stroke- Janine started, but Lina and Gregory stopped her.
“Do not say that. It does not mean what you think it does,” Lina said which the teachers agreed with Lina.
“Ok. Well, my place will do just fine,” Janine said.
“You live in a refurbished entryway,” Melissa stated as Mr. Johnson joined the group.
“What are we gossiping about?” he asked, “Gregory’s sweater T-shirt? Man, make up your mind. Is it a sweater or a T-shirt?”
“No, we’re trying to convince Janine to have her party in a more spacious space,” Jacob explained, “some of us had a rough year and broke up with their partner and best friend who will no longer speak to them and find themselves-” Jacob was about to continue but Janine stepped in.
“Guys, I hear you, but I can assure you all that I have gotten all 350 square feet-” Janine said, but Mr. Johnson stepped in, “350 square what? Why don’t you just throw the damn party in my mop’s closet?”
“350 square feet of my big enough apartment into party mode,” Janine held up her finger.
“Alright, I’ll bring some limoncello,” Melissa said.
“No. I’ve got it covered. Just bring your wonderful self,” Janine denied.
“Maybe just some wine,” Melissa tried again.
“Hey, Mel. Just don’t, alright?” Janine said sternly. Melissa and Lina gave a look at the camera and Melissa stopped.
It was the end of the assembly and Janine had told everyone that she would see them at 8. Lina went back to her classroom and grabbed her bag and went to the front of the school and saw Manny parked in front of the door so she smiled and walked down the steps. Manny quickly got out of the car and opened the passenger seat.
“Your chariot awaits, princess,” Manny said with a smile.
“Thank you, prince charming,” Lina smiled and quickly gave him a kiss on the lips before getting inside the car. Manny ran around the car and into the driver’s seat and they were on their way to her place since Manny had put his outfit for the party at her place. “You excited for the party tonight at Janine’s?”
“Yeah! I’m excited for drinks and good vibes from friends,” Manny said.
“Same! I’m excited for it,” Lina smiled.
They got to the apartment and Lina had to do her final project for one of her classes so Manny sat next to her on the couch while watching a random tv show that was interesting on Netflix. After about an hour, Lina was finally done and it was time for the two of them to start getting ready for the party so they decided to shower together to save time. Manny was the first one out while Lina was close behind him since she had to finish shaving her legs. Lina hopped out of the shower and quickly dried herself before wrapping her hair in a microfiber hair towel and wrapped her body in another towel so she could go to the room and look for something to wear.
Lina was scrummaging through her closet when Manny came up next to her and reached a hand in to pull out her tight short burgundy satin dress and some black heels. She looked at it with amazement and turned to kiss him on his lips. Manny was dressed in an orange knit polo and black slacks
“Thank you so much,” Lina said and dropped her towel to put it on.
“Take your time,” Manny couldn’t help, but bite his lip at her body.
“Oh, shut it,” Lina laughed and pushed him away.
They moved onto the bathroom and Lina was putting her makeup on while Manny cleaned up his beard and put on Lina’s favorite aftershave. Lina finished her makeup and put on Manny’s favorite perfume of hers on as well as his favorite pair of black heels that made her butt pop. Both did a once over in the bathroom before nodding and running out of the apartment to make it to the party in time.
When they got there, Lina stood with Manny, Simon, and Emily until Jacob came in so she let go of Manny’s arm and went over to Jacob as Gregory knocked on the door.
“For you, Gregory Eddie, I thought you might enjoy the ‘socially awkward but trying’ section,” Janine pointed out the kitchen.
“I love the layout. This is prime,” Gregory praised.
“Right?”
“She’s not in the minors ‘cause she’s the Big Teagues!” Manny called out with a laugh, “Gregory Eddie, what’s up?”
Lina shook her head with a chuckle while Janine went over to say hi to them until Emily tipped over her vase that was on a shelf. Greg went over to Jacob and Lina and they talked until Lina saw Erika who was Janine’s best friend.
“Hey, girl! How are you?” Lina greeted with a hug.
“Oh, girl, you clean up nice! You still with that hunk of a man, Manny?” Erika asked.
“Hell yeah, girl,” Lina said and the two laughed as they watched Janine pair Ava up with a guy.
“Girl, you got a man for Ava, but for me? There are like 4 guys here and half of them are gay!” Erika exclaimed.
“Erika, let me introduce you to my emotionally unavailable, fiscally irresponsible, racially ambiguous, well-chained friend Simon,” Janine introduced as Simon walked over.
Lina saw how the two looked at each other so she excused herself and started talking to Manny, Melissa, and Barbara. The party looked like it was in full swing so Lina decided to just walk around until she got to Janine's room and saw Manny had moved there and was watching Wakanda Forever with Gregory and Zach. Lina moved towards the kitchen and started talking to a couple of people when the power had blown.
“Ok, guys. Do not leave, the power will be on in just a moment so you guys can just go outside and get some fresh air and it will be back on,” Janine announced.
Lina felt her hand being grabbed so she turned and saw Manny. They exited the apartment and stood outside in the cold air. Lina leaned against the wall and Manny leaned in front of her, invading her personal space, but she didn’t mind. Her heels helped in lessening their height difference since he was a whole head taller than her in her normal shoes. They just stared into each other’s eyes for a minute until they heard music going again, but they didn’t move to join the party again. Manny swiftly leaned in and gave her a soft kiss on the lips so he didn’t mess up her lip gloss stained lips.
Music had slowed down so Manny stood up straight and pulled Lina inside to dance with her. The two started dancing together until they saw Janine walk to the dance floor so both of them started dancing with her shortly until Janine danced away. Lina continued dancing with Manny when he turned her and pulled her backside against. She swayed her hips back and forth to the beat of the music while Manny matched her speed and the two continued dancing.
After another hour passed, the party was coming to an end and people were leaving. Lina noticed Gregory hesitated on leaving so she quickly grabbed Manny’s hand and led him, Simon, and Emily out of the apartment. Manny gladly let her lead as Simon and Emily followed. Simon and Emily started suggesting other places to go until they mentioned a club that played 90s R&B so Lina looked at Manny with a pleading expression.
“I guess we’re going to the club,” Manny chuckled and wrapped an arm around her shoulders and the four of them hopped into Manny’s car since he didn’t really drink a lot.
They went to Lina’s place to park his car and ordered an Uber to the club. When they got there, it was poppin’ so they went inside and Manny and Lina started dancing together again in a sensual manner. Lina was grinding on Manny as a slow song was playing, but it went up in beat as the DJ transitioned smoothly to a higher tempo song so Lina immediately started twerking Manny who was surprised at her ability to twerk in high heels. After a little bit, Lina turned and the two wrapped an arm around each other, Lina around Manny’s neck and Manny around her waist. They moved smoothly with each other as Manny moved his hand that was on her back to the middle of her butt.
After a couple hours of heated dancing and drinking, the tension was at an all time high so the two said bye to Simon and Emily and quickly ordered their Uber. When they got to the apartment, Lina was struggling with opening the door so when she finally opened it, the two stumbled inside and closed the door, locking it before heading to her room. The rest of the night was spent under the covers and the activity they didn’t do was sleep the whole night.
