for the uninitiated NPCs milling about in Might and Magic 7 are counted as monsters that just don't happen to be hostile to you (unless you attack them) so if a sufficiently low enough level character were to have the Identify Monster skill and inspect them, this would be your result.
footage from Grimith's Might and Magic 7 series, this is the second playthrough located here: link
a more exhaustive first playthrough is located here link

ASOIAF + Wind and words
Robert set the pace, driving his huge black destrier hard as Ned galloped along beside him, trying to keep up. He called out a question as they rode, but the wind blew his words away, and the king did not hear him. After that Ned rode in silence. They soon left the kingsroad and took off across rolling plains dark with mist. By then the guard had fallen back a small distance, safely out of earshot, but still Robert would not slow. — AGOT, Eddard I
“Then Lord Eddard is a man in ten thousand. Most of us are not so strong. What is honor compared to a woman’s love? What is duty against the feel of a newborn son in your arms … or the memory of a brother’s smile? Wind and words. Wind and words. We are only human, and the gods have fashioned us for love. That is our great glory, and our great tragedy. — AGOT, Jon VIII
“Well, as to that, some gave me soft words and some blunt, some made excuses, some promises, some only lied.” He shrugged. “In the end words are just wind.” — ACOK, Prologue
The maester laughed at that. “And there you have it, my lord. Words are wind, you know, and you’ve blown mine away with your good sense. His Grace knows what he has in you, I think.” — ASOS, Davos V
“Words. Words are wind. Why do you think I abandoned Dragonstone and sailed to the Wall, Lord Snow?” — ASOS, Jon XI
“Words are wind. If you love me, do not leave me.” — AFFC, A Soiled Knight
“. . . did not stop you slaying Aerys. Words are wind. You could have had me, but you chose a cloak instead. Get out.” — AFFC, Jaime II
“Words are wind,” Victarion told them, “and the only good wind is that which fills our sails. Would you have me fight the Crow’s Eye? Brother against brother, ironborn against ironborn?” Euron was still his elder, no matter how much bad blood might be between them. No man is as accursed as the kinslayer. — AFFC, The Iron Captain
Words are wind, Brienne told herself. They cannot hurt you. Let them wash over you. “As you command, my lord,” she tried to say, but Tarly had gone before she got it out. She walked from the yard like one asleep, not knowing where she was going. — AFFC, Brienne V
“So you say. Words are wind. When the hour is ripe, you may produce this paragon of yours and we will see if he is all that you have promised.” — AFFC, Cersei VII
The thing that had been Catelyn Stark took hold of her throat again, fingers pinching at the ghastly long slash in her neck, and choked out more sounds. “Words are wind, she says,” the northman told Brienne. “She says that you must prove your faith.” — AFFC, Brienne VIII
“Fine words.” Tyrion was unimpressed. “Words are wind. Who is this bloody savior?” — ADWD, Tyrion I
[...] “From all I hear, his lordship’s fatter than ever. So much for vows. Words are wind, and the wind from Manderly’s mouth means no more than the wind escaping out his bottom.” — ADWD, Davos I
“Words are wind,” said the young woman behind Lord Wyman’s high seat, the handsome one with the long brown braid. “And men will lie to get their way, as any maid could tell you.” — ADWD, Davos III
He shall be the stallion that mounts the world. Dany knew how it went with prophecies. They were made of words, and words were wind. There would be no son for Loraq, no heir to unite dragon and harpy. When the sun rises in the west and sets in the east, when the seas go dry and mountains blow in the wind like leaves. Only then would her womb quicken once again … ... Dany folded her hands together. “Words are wind, even words like love and peace. I put more trust in deeds. In my Seven Kingdoms, knights go on quests to prove themselves worthy of the maiden that they love. They seek for magic swords, for chests of gold, for crowns stolen from a dragon’s hoard.” — ADWD, Daenerys IV
Iron Emmett grimaced. “Men are men, vows are words, and words are wind. You should put guards around the women.” — ADWD, Jon VII
“Be that as it may, they do not trust you. The men of New Ghis feel the same. Words are wind, as you yourself have so oft said. No words of yours will secure this peace for Meereen. Your foes require deeds. They would see us wed, and they would see me crowned as king, to rule beside you.” — ADWD, Daenerys VI
“That is good to hear,” the prince said, “but words are wind. You are my brother’s daughters and I love you, but I have learned I cannot trust you. I want your oath. Will you swear to serve me, to do as I command?” — ADWD, The Watcher
“—that I am half a wildling myself, a turncloak who means to sell the realm to our raiders, cannibals, and giants.” Jon did not need to stare into a fire to know what was being said of him. The worst part was, they were not wrong, not wholly. “Words are wind, and the wind is always blowing at the Wall. Come.” — ADWD, Jon VIII
“Words are wind.” They are no better than me. We’re just the same. “You killed the others, why not him? Yellow Dick—” — ADWD, Theon I
The words seemed to give the girl some comfort. Words are wind, though, Ser Barristan thought. How can I protect the queen when I am not with her? — ADWD, The Queensguard
His years in the Kingsguard had taught him the trick of listening without hearing, especially useful when the speaker was intent on proving that words were truly wind. — ADWD, The Discarded Knight
Cersei walked on. I am blind and deaf, and they are worms, she told herself. “Shame, shame,” the septas sang. “Chestnuts, hot roast chestnuts,” a peddler cried. “Queen Cunt,” a drunkard pronounced solemnly from a balcony above, lifting his cup to her in a mocking toast. “All hail the royal teats!” Words are wind, Cersei thought. Words cannot harm me .… Words are wind, she thought, words cannot hurt me. — ADWD, Cersei II
A steady drip-drip-drip punctuated his words, as snowmelt ran off his cloak to puddle on the floor. The snow had been falling on King’s Landing most of the night; outside the drifts were ankle deep. Ser Kevan Lannister pulled his cloak about himself more closely. “So you say, ser. Words are wind.” — ADWD, Epilogue

CRPG Progress 2023
I just thought I’d write myself a list of games from the highly-recommended and free CRPG book I sometimes mention.
There is still a lot of stuff from that book that I want to play, as well as other games not mentioned in it.
Ideally I would play at least a little bit of everything on it for the best historical perspective, but in practice I find it difficult enough to finish just my existing backlog so I need to prioritize some things over others.
If a game is marked with a single exclamation mark, it means it sounds particularly interesting to me even beyond its historical significance and I want to try it for at least a couple of hours to see what it’s like.
If a game is marked with two exclamation marks, it means I have played some of it.
If a game is marked with three exclamation marks, it means I have played enough of it to have a reasonably solid idea of how it plays and all.
If a game is marked with four exclamation marks, it means I have reached the end credits or otherwise finished the game at least once.

Jon ‘One Eye’ & Sansa Stark
In this meta I will try to point out the clues of Jon’s death- warging into his direwolf- coming back to life process.
Our main hint is going to be : ONE EYE motifs...
And interestingly this hint is always close to Sansa...
[Most of these clues etc have been already examined by many people but I will try to put them all in order to show the pattern..]
Tumblr media
A GAME OF THRONES:
Waymar Royce
Waymar Royce appearence and story are very similar with Jon’s.
They look similar:
Ser Waymar Royce was the youngest son of an ancient house with too many heirs. He was a handsome youth of eighteen, grey-eyed and graceful and slender as a knife.
[AGOT; Prologue]
Jon’s eyes were a grey so dark they seemed almost black, but there was little they did not see. He was of an age with Robb, but they did not look alike. Jon was slender where Robb was muscular, dark where Robb was fair, graceful and quick where his half brother was strong and fast.
[AGOT; Bran I]
They are both young men of Night’s Watch but they were not very welcomed by their other black brothers:
His cloak was his crowning glory; sable, thick and black and soft as sin. “Bet he killed them all himself, he did,” Gared told the barracks over wine, “twisted their little heads off, our mighty warrior.” They had all shared the laugh. It is hard to take orders from a man you laughed at in your cups, Will reflected as he sat shivering atop his garron. Gared must have felt the same.
[AGOT; Prologue]
“Yes, life,” Noye said. “A long life or a short one, it’s up to you, Snow. The road you’re walking, one of your brothers will slit your throat for you one night.” “They’re not my brothers,” Jon snapped. “They hate me because I’m better than they are.” “No. They hate you because you act like you’re better than they are. They look at you and see a castle-bred bastard who thinks he’s a lordling.” The armorer leaned close. “You’re no lordling. Remember that. You’re a Snow, not a Stark. You’re a bastard and a bully.”
[AGOT; Jon III]
Others are a very important part of Jon’s arc and story and Waymar meets with them in Prologue:
Ser Waymar met him bravely. “Dance with me then.” He lifted his sword high over his head, defiant. His hands trembled from the weight of it, or perhaps from the cold. Yet in that moment, Will thought, he was a boy no longer, but a man of the Night’s Watch.
[AGOT; Prologue]
Tumblr media
This phrase also reminds us Jon:
It is more than impatience, Jon realized. They are afraid. Warriors, spearwives, raiders, they are frightened of those woods, of shadows moving through the trees. They want to put the Wall between them before the night descends.
A snowflake danced upon the air. Then another. Dance with me, Jon Snow, he thought. You’ll dance with me anon.
[ADWD; Jon XII]
In Prologue, Waymar gets killed by Others:
Royce’s body lay facedown in the snow, one arm out-flung. The thick sable cloak had been slashed in a dozen places. Lying dead like that, you saw how young he was. A boy.
[AGOT; Prologue]
And Jon dies in ADWD:
Jon fell to his knees. He found the dagger’s hilt and wrenched it free. In the cold night air the wound was smoking. “Ghost,” he whispered. Pain washed over him. Stick them with the pointy end. When the third dagger took him between the shoulder blades, he gave a grunt and fell face-first into the snow. He never felt the fourth knife. Only the cold …
[ADWD; Jon XIII]
But Waymar comes back to life as a wight with ‘ONE EYE’:
Will rose. Ser Waymar Royce stood over him. His fine clothes were a tatter, his face a ruin. A shard from his sword transfixed the blind white pupil of his left eye. The right eye was open. The pupil burned blue. It saw.
[AGOT; Prologue]
Tumblr media
So: A young man of Night’s Watch who looks like Jon dies and comes back to life with ONE EYE.
Let’s continue with the second book...
A CLASH OF KINGS:
Orell
Orell is Wildling who is also a skinchanger. His animal is an EAGLE.
Jon kills Orell in ACOK; Jon VI:
Jon nodded toward the one by the fire. It felt queer, picking a man to kill.
[...]
Jon’s man leapt to his feet, thrusting at his face with a burning brand. He could feel the heat of the flames as he flinched back. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw the sleeper stirring, and knew he must finish his man quick. When the brand swung again, he bulled into it, swinging the bastard sword with both hands. The Valyrian steel sheared through leather, fur, wool, and flesh, but when the wildling fell he twisted, ripping the sword from Jon’s grasp.
[...]
“You ought to burn them you killed,” said Ygritte.
[ACOK; Jon VI]
But due to the magic of skinchanging, a portion of Orell’s consciousness remained in the eagle, which developed a fierce hatred for Jon.
And in ACOK; Jon VII he dreams of an eagle attacking him and people talk about vargs and skinchangers:
Then a sudden gust of cold made his fur stand up, and the air thrilled to the sound of wings. As he lifted his eyes to the ice-white mountain heights above, a shadow plummeted out of the sky. A shrill scream split the air. He glimpsed blue-grey pinions spread wide, shutting out the sun… “Ghost!” Jon shouted, sitting up. He could still feel the talons, the pain. “Ghost, to me!” Ebben appeared, grabbed him, shook him. “Quiet! You mean to bring the wildlings down on us? What’s wrong with you, boy?” “A dream,” said Jon feebly. “I was Ghost, I was on the edge of the mountain looking down on a frozen river, and something attacked me. A bird… an eagle, I think…”
[...]
“Skinchanger?” said Ebben grimly, looking at the Halfhand. Does he mean the eagle? Jon wondered. Or me? Skinchangers and wargs belonged in Old Nan’s stories, not in the world he had lived in all his life. Yet here, in this strange bleak wilderness of rock and ice, it was not hard to believe.
[ACOK; Jon VII]
So: There is a skinchanger who dies because of Jon but a part of him keeps living in his animal: eagle.
Tumblr media
The interesting thing is that between these two Jon chapters (Orell and eagle dream) comes a very important Sansa chapter which has many parallels with Jon VI chapter...
Tumblr media
An example of parallels:
[…] ‘All I ask is a flower,’ Bael answered, ‘the fairest flower that blooms in the gardens o’ Winterfell.”
“Now as it happened the winter roses had only then come into bloom, and no flower is so rare nor precious…
[ACOK; Jon VI]
Sansa lowered her head. “The blood frightened me.”
“The blood is the seal of your womanhood. Lady Catelyn might have prepared you. You’ve had your first flowering, no more.”
Sansa had never felt less flowery. “My lady mother told me, but I… I thought it would be different.”

In this chapter Sansa says she wants to be loved and Cersei warns her that “love kills too...” Next chapter is Jon with his eagle dreams and warging abilities:
A half smile flickered across the queen’s face. “[…]Robert wanted to be loved. My brother Tyrion has the same disease. Do you want to be loved, Sansa?”
“Everyone wants to be loved.”
“I see flowering hasn’t made you any brighter,” said Cersei. “Sansa, permit me to share a bit of womanly wisdom with you on this very special day. Love is poison. A sweet poison, yes, but it will kill you all the same.”
[ACOK; Sansa IV]
Let’s move on to third book...
A STORM OF SWORDS:
Orell and Wargs
In ASOS; Jon I, we learn the name of the Wildling that Jon has killed in ACOK; Jon VI:
“He slew Qhorin Halfhand,” said Longspear Ryk. “Him and that wolf o’ his.”
“And did for Orell too,” said Rattleshirt.
“The lad’s a warg, or close enough,” put in Ragwyle, the big spearwife. “His wolf took a piece o’ Halfhand’s leg.”
[...]
“What’s this?” he said. “A crow?”
“The black bastard what gutted Orell,” said Rattleshirt, “and a bloody warg as well.”
“You were to kill them all.”
“This one come over,” explained Ygritte. “He slew Qhorin Halfhand with his own hand.”
[ASOS; Jon I]
This Jon chapter comes after ASOS; Sansa I.
And these chapters have many parallels such as:
Tumblr media
Sansa knelt at the feet of her future queen. “You do me great honor, Your Grace.” “Won’t you call me Margaery? Please, rise. Loras, help the Lady Sansa to her feet. Might I call you Sansa?”
[ASOS; Sansa I]
“I would be pleased to eat, Your Grace. And thank you.”
“Your Grace?” The king smiled. “That’s not a style one often hears from the lips of the free folk. I’m Mance to most, The Mance to some. Will you take a horn of mead?”
[ASOS; Jon I]
For more, please check: Jonsa Book Hints: C1
We also learn about Sansa’s new betrothed: Willas Tyrell..
Willas has a bad leg and so does Jon, in ASOS:
“Willas has a bad leg but a good heart,” said Margaery. “He used to read to me when I was a little girl, and draw me pictures of the stars. You will love him as much as we do, Sansa.”
[ASOS; Sansa I]
If the mare had gone down, he would have been doomed. “A lucky thing my leg got in the way,” he muttered.
He rested for a while to let the horse graze. She did not wander far. That was good. Hobbled with a bad leg, he could never have caught her.
[ASOS; Jon V]
Let’s keep reading...
In ASOS; Jon II chapter Jon’s eagle dream from ACOK comes true and Orell’s eagle attacks Jon’s eye:
He could still hear wings, though the eagle was not in sight. Half his world was black. “My eye,” he said in sudden panic, raising a hand to his face.
“It’s only blood, Jon Snow. He missed the eye, just ripped your skin up some.”
[…]
Can a bird hate? Jon had slain the wilding Orell, but some part of the man remained within the eagle. The golden eyes looked out on him with cold malevolence.
[…]
I will need to get this tended, he thought, but not just now. Let the King-beyond-the-Wall see what his eagle did to me.
[…]
The look Mance gave Jon was grim and cold. “What happened to your face?”
Ygritte said, “Orell tried to take his eye out.”
“It was him I asked. Has he lost his tongue? Perhaps he should, to spare us further lies.”
Styr the Magnar drew a long knife. “The boy might see more clear with one eye, instead of two.”
“Would you like to keep your eye, Jon?” asked the King-beyond-the-Wall. “If so, tell me how many they were. And try and speak the truth this time, Bastard of Winterfell.”
Jon’s throat was dry. “My lord… what…”
[ASOS; Jon II]
Tumblr media
Jon almosts loses his ‘one eye’ and becomes Jon ‘One Eye’ Snow because of this attack..
After this eagle attack Jon chapter comes ASOS; Sansa II
Tumblr media
And these chapters have many parallels such as:
Jon wheeled and followed Tormund back toward the head of the column, his new cloak hanging heavy from his shoulders. It was made of unwashed sheepskins, worn fleece side in, as the wildlings suggested.
[…]
“I wear the cloak you gave me, Your Grace.”
[ASOS; Jon II]
A new gown?” she said, as wary as she was astonished.
“More lovely than any you have worn, my lady,” the old woman promised. She measured Sansa’s hips with a length of knotted string. “All silk and Myrish lace, with satin linings. You will be very beautiful. The queen herself has commanded it.”
“Which queen?” Margaery was not yet Joff’s queen, but she had been Renly’s. Or did she mean the Queen of Thorns? Or…“The Queen Regent, to be sure.”
[ASOS; Sansa II]
For more, please check: Jonsa Book Hints: C2
And after the chapter of an eagle attacks Jon’s eye we learn in next chapter that Sansa’s betrothed Willas Tyrell flies EAGLES:
“Willas has the best birds in the Seven Kingdoms,” Margaery said when the two of them were briefly alone. “He flies an eagle sometimes. You will see, Sansa.”
[ASOS; Sansa II]
Tumblr media
Why is Almost One Eye Jon and Sansa Stark being near to each other important?
Because the first Sansa Stark in Stark family tree was married with her half-uncle Jonnel ‘One Eye’ Stark:
Tumblr media
So another Sansa being close to another Stark family member who almost had lost his one eye sounds interesting.
Well, Jon didn’t lose his eye but his face got scarred:
He had almost forgotten about his face. “A skinchanger tried to rip out my eye.”
Noye frowned. “Scarred or smooth, it’s a face I thought I’d seen the last of. We heard you’d gone over to Mance Rayder.”
[ASOS; Jon VI]
Who else has a scarred face? Sansa’s husband- Tyrion Lannister:
“I like your scar.” She traced it with her finger. “It makes you look very fierce and strong.”
He laughed. “Very ugly, you mean.”
“M’lord will never be ugly in my eyes.” She kissed the scab that covered the ragged stub of his nose.
[ASOS; Tyrion II]
Tumblr media
Varamyr
What happens to this eagle later?
Tumblr media
Skinchanger, Varamyr Sixskins, takes control of Orell’s eagle. Varamyr uses the eagle to scout Castle Black and spots Stannis Baratheon’s arrival at the Wall.
The eagle bursts into flames during the attack on Castle Black with Melisandre claiming she was responsible.
The skinchanger was grey-faced, round-shouldered, and bald, a mouse of a man with a wolfling’s eyes. “Once a horse is broken to the saddle, any man can mount him,” he said in a soft voice. “Once a beast’s been joined to a man, any skinchanger can slip inside and ride him. Orell was withering inside his feathers, so I took the eagle for my own. But the joining works both ways, warg. Orell lives inside me now, whispering how much he hates you. And I can soar above the Wall, and see with eagle eyes.”
[...]
“Banners,” he heard Varamyr murmur, “I see golden banners, oh . . .” A mammoth lumbered by, trumpeting, a half-dozen bowmen in the wooden tower on its back. “The king . . . no . . .”
Then the skinchanger threw back his head and screamed. The sound was shocking, ear-piercing, thick with agony. Varamyr fell, writhing, and the ’cat was screaming too.... and high, high in the eastern sky, against the wall of cloud, Jon saw the eagle burning. For a heartbeat it flamed brighter than a star, wreathed in red and gold and orange, its wings beating wildly at the air as if it could fly from the pain. Higher it flew, and higher, and higher still.
[ASOS; Jon X]
Melisandre burns the eagle. Who else got burned in the books?
Jon Snow in AGOT:
He had burned himself more badly than he knew throwing the flaming drapes, and his right hand was swathed in silk halfway to the elbow. At the time he’d felt nothing; the agony had come after.
[AGOT; Jon VIII]
Tumblr media
And Jon burns himself in AGOT; Jon VII:
Jon tried to shout, but his voice was gone. Staggering to his feet, he kicked the arm away and snatched the lamp from the Old Bear’s fingers. The flame flickered and almost died. “Burn!” the raven cawed. “Burn, burn, burn!”
Spinning, Jon saw the drapes he’d ripped from the window. He flung the lamp into the puddled cloth with both hands. Metal crunched, glass shattered, oil spewed, and the hangings went up in a great whoosh of flame. The heat of it on his face was sweeter than any kiss Jon had ever known. “Ghost!” he shouted.
The direwolf wrenched free and came to him as the wight struggled to rise, dark snakes spilling from the great wound in its belly. Jon plunged his hand into the flames, grabbed a fistful of the burning drapes, and whipped them at the dead man. Let it burn, he prayed as the cloth smothered the corpse, gods, please, please, let it burn.
[AGOT; Jon VII]
This Jon chapter comes after AGOT; Sansa IV:
Tumblr media
And these two chapters have many parallels such as:
So she went to the queen instead, and poured out her heart, and Cersei had listened and thanked her sweetly … only then Ser Arys had escorted her to the high room in Maegor’s Holdfast and posted guards, and a few hours later, the fighting had begun outside.
[AGOT; Sansa IV]
They took his knife and his sword and told him he was not to leave his cell until the high officers met to decide what was to be done with him. And then they placed a guard outside his door to make certain he obeyed. His friends were not allowed to see him, but the Old Bear did relent and permit him Ghost, so he was not utterly alone.
[AGOT; Jon VII]
*
Yet somehow it seemed colder with Jeyne gone, even after she’d built a fire. She pulled a chair close to the hearth, took down one of her favorite books, and lost herself in the stories of Florian and Jonquil, of Lady Shella and the Rainbow Knight, of valiant Prince Aemon and his doomed love for his brother’s queen.
[AGOT; Sansa IV]
Yet he was trembling, violently. When had it gotten so cold?
[…]

Metal crunched, glass shattered, oil spewed, and the hangings went up in a great whoosh of flame. The heat of it on his face was sweeter than any kiss Jon had ever known. “Ghost!” he shouted.
[AGOT; Jon VII]

What happens to skinchanger Orell and warg Varamyr after the eagle burst into flames?
The incident greatly affects Varamyr and supposedly kills the remnants of Orell inside the eagle.
After the defeat of the wildlings at the battle beneath the Wall, Varamyr has lost all his possessions in his madness from experiencing the eagle’s death; he has also lost control of his snow bear and shadowcat, but his wolves remain.
[Orell dying completely and Varamyr gets mad also reminds me another resurrected character Beric Dondarrion who also has ONE EYE and him dying for good to bring Catelyn Stark back to life... And like Varamyr, Lady Stoneheart loses her mind too... ]
Let’s move on to fourth book...
A FEAST FOR CROWS:
Jon is not even in this book?
But Sansa is and we learn few things about her crushes:
Waymar Royce:
She had fallen wildly in love with Ser Waymar, she remembered dimly, but that was a lifetime ago, when she was a stupid little girl.
[AFFC; Alayne I]
Grrm reminds us Waymar Royce aka the biggest foreshadowing for Jon in AFFC book via Sansa’s chapter...
Loras Tyrell:
Loras was another crush of Sansa and we learn that he got burned really bad in AFFC.
Like the eagle and Jon.
“Tell me,” said Margaery. “I command it.” Command it? Cersei paused a moment, then decided she would let that pass. “The defenders fell back to an inner keep once the curtain wall was taken. Loras led the attack there as well. He was doused with boiling oil.” Lady Alla turned white as chalk, and ran from the room. “The maesters are doing all they can, Lord Waters assures me, but I fear your brother is too badly burned.”
[AFFC; Cersei VIII]
More about Loras // Jon, please check: Jonsa Book Hints: A8
Let’s keep reading the fifth book...
A DANCE WITH DRAGONS:
In ADWD; Prologue Varamyr encounters with Others (just like AGOT; Prologue) and Varamyr’s body dies, but his mind lives on in his wolf One Eye.
And Varamyr also thinks about Jon and his direwolf..
Tumblr media
So we have dead warg who kept living in his animal: A WOLF whose name is ONE EYE.
Varamyr could feel the snowflakes melting on his brow. This is not so bad as burning. Let me sleep and never wake, let me begin my second life. His wolves were close now. He could feel them. He would leave this feeble flesh behind, become one with them, hunting the night and howling at the moon. The warg would become a true wolf. Which, though?
[...]
“They say you forget,” Haggon had told him, a few weeks before his own death. “When the man’s flesh dies, his spirit lives on inside the beast, but every day his memory fades, and the beast becomes a little less a warg, a little more a wolf, until nothing of the man is left and only the beast remains.”
Varamyr knew the truth of that. When he claimed the eagle that had been Orell’s, he could feel the other skinchanger raging at his presence. Orell had been slain by the turncloak crow Jon Snow, and his hate for his killer had been so strong that Varamyr found himself hating the beastling boy as well. He had known what Snow was the moment he saw that great white direwolf stalking silent at his side. One skinchanger can always sense another. Mance should have let me take the direwolf. There would be a second life worthy of a king. He could have done it, he did not doubt. The gift was strong in Snow, but the youth was untaught, still fighting his nature when he should have gloried in it.
[...]
A sleeping direwolf raised his head to snarl at empty air. Before their hearts could beat again he had passed on, searching for his own, for One Eye, Sly, and Stalker, for his pack. His wolves would save him, he told himself. That was his last thought as a man. True death came suddenly; he felt a shock of cold, as if he had been plunged into the icy waters of a frozen lake. Then he found himself rushing over moonlit snows with his packmates close behind him. Half the world was dark. One Eye, he knew. He bayed, and Sly and Stalker gave echo. When they reached the crest the wolves paused.
[...]
The things below moved, but did not live. One by one, they raised their heads toward the three wolves on the hill. The last to look was the thing that had been Thistle. She wore wool and fur and leather, and over that she wore a coat of hoarfrost that crackled when she moved and glistened in the moonlight. Pale pink icicles hung from her fingertips, ten long knives of frozen blood. And in the pits where her eyes had been, a pale blue light was flickering, lending her coarse features an eerie beauty they had never known in life. She sees me.
[ADWD; Prologue]
Jon dies in his last ADWD chapter and his last word was his direwolf’s name: GHOST...
So we have a full circle:
It started with Agot; Prologue
and ended with ADWD; Jon XIII
Let’s not forget that Jon’s death was foreshadowed in ASOS; Sansa VI chapter.
Lord Petyr dismissed him with a wave, and returned to the pomegranate again as Oswell shuffled down the steps. “Tell me, Alayne—which is more dangerous, the dagger brandished by an enemy, or the hidden one pressed to your back by someone you never even see?”
“The hidden dagger.”
“There’s a clever girl.” He smiled, his thin lips bright red from the pomegranate seeds.
[ASOS; Sansa VI]
Next chapter was Jon:
Tumblr media
Fore more about Jon’s death and Sansa; please check:
Jonsa Book Hints: C12 & E7
“Do not be so certain.” The ruby at Melisandre’s throat gleamed red. “It is not the foes who curse you to your face that you must fear, but those who smile when you are looking and sharpen their knives when you turn your back. You would do well to keep your wolf close beside you. Ice, I see, and daggers in the dark. Blood frozen red and hard, and naked steel. It was very cold.”
“It is always cold on the Wall.”
“You think so?”
“I know so, my lady.”
“Then you know nothing, Jon Snow,” she whispered.
[ADWD; Jon I]
Tumblr media
In conclusion:
Jon’s death, him warging into his direwolf during his death and him coming back to life arc has been foreshadowed since AGOT; Prologue and its most obvious hints were given in ADWD; Prologue by echoing AGOT; Prologue.
The ‘ONE EYE’ motif seems like a key hint for his resurrection.
And Sansa is always close to this motif or she has some connections with this motif via other characters or her chapters.
A Sansa Stark being close to another ‘ONE EYE’ Stark is interesting because of the historical couple: Jonnel ‘One Eye’ & Sansa Stark in Stark family tree..
Even the hints of Jon’s death can be found in Sansa chapters.
All of these tell us that Sansa will be important in Jon’s past resurrection story.
Thanks for reading.

Note
"Of Sansa brushing out Lady's coat and singing to herself. You know nothing Jon Snow" seems straight out of a cheesy romance novel lol. Lets be honest here.
Yeah, that's our Jon, a romantic at heart:
Calling his half sister Sansa “radiant”:
Sansa looked radiant as she walked beside him, but Jon did not like Joffrey's pouty lips or the bored, disdainful way he looked at Winterfell's Great Hall.
—A Game of Thrones - Jon I
Dreaming about his mother:
Not my mother, Jon thought stubbornly. He knew nothing of his mother; Eddard Stark would not talk of her. Yet he dreamed of her at times, so often that he could almost see her face. In his dreams, she was beautiful, and highborn, and her eyes were kind.
—A Game of Thrones - Jon III
Playing the hero:
Every morning they had trained together, since they were big enough to walk; Snow and Stark, spinning and slashing about the wards of Winterfell, shouting and laughing, sometimes crying when there was no one else to see. They were not little boys when they fought, but knights and mighty heroes. "I'm Prince Aemon the Dragonknight,*" Jon would call out, and Robb would shout back, "Well, I'm Florian the Fool." Or Robb would say, "I'm the Young Dragon," and Jon would reply, "I'm Ser Ryam Redwyne.**"
—A Storm of Swords - Jon XII
*Ser Aemon the Dragonknight, Lord Commander of the Kingsguard, he crowned Queen Naerys his Queen of Love and Beauty.
**Ser Ryan Redwyne, Lord Commander of the Kingsguard, he crowned Queen Alysanne his Queen of Love and Beauty.
Giving courtesies:
"I don't even know your name."
"Gilly, he called me. For the gillyflower."
"That's pretty." He remembered Sansa telling him once that he should say that whenever a lady told him her name. He could not help the girl, but perhaps the courtesy would please her.
—A Clash of Kings - Jon III
Playing the honorable knight:
After that he had taken to using Ghost to keep her away. Old Nan used to tell stories about knights and their ladies who would sleep in a single bed with a blade between them for honor's sake, but he thought this must be the first time where a direwolf took the place of the sword.
—A Storm of Swords - Jon II
Straight out the book of courtly love...
Wooing a girl:
If I could show her Winterfell . . . give her a flower from the glass gardens, feast her in the Great Hall, and show her the stone kings on their thrones. We could bathe in the hot pools, and love beneath the heart tree while the old gods watched over us.
—A Storm of Swords - Jon V
Wishing for a domestic life:
I would need to steal her if I wanted her love, but she might give me children. I might someday hold a son of my own blood in my arms. A son was something Jon Snow had never dared dream of, since he decided to live his life on the Wall. I could name him Robb. Val would want to keep her sister's son, but we could foster him at Winterfell, and Gilly's boy as well. Sam would never need to tell his lie. We'd find a place for Gilly too, and Sam could come visit her once a year or so. Mance's son and Craster's would grow up brothers, as I once did with Robb.
He wanted it, Jon knew then. He wanted it as much as he had ever wanted anything. I have always wanted it, he thought, guiltily. May the gods forgive me.
—A Storm of Swords - Jon XII
Calling his mare “sweet lady”:
The mare whickered softly as Jon Snow tightened the cinch. “Easy, sweet lady,” he said in a soft voice, quieting her with a touch. Wind whispered through the stable, a cold dead breath on his face, but Jon paid it no mind. He strapped his roll to the saddle, his scarred fingers stiff and clumsy. “Ghost,” he called softly, “to me.” And the wolf was there, eyes like embers.
—A Game of Thrones - Jon IX
Being friends with soft boys:
Whatever pride his lord father might have felt at Samwell’s birth vanished as the boy grew up plump, soft, and awkward. Sam loved to listen to music and make his own songs, to wear soft velvets, to play in the castle kitchen beside the cooks, drinking in the rich smells as he snitched lemon cakes and blueberry tarts. His passions were books and kittens and dancing, clumsy as he was.
—A Game of Thrones - Jon IV
Sam remembered the last time he’d sung the song with his mother, to lull baby Dickon to sleep. His father had heard their voices and come barging in, angry. “I will have no more of that,” Lord Randyll told his wife harshly. “You ruined one boy with those soft septon’s songs, do you mean to do the same to this babe?” Then he looked at Sam and said, “Go sing to your sisters, if you must sing. I don’t want you near my son.”
—A Storm of Swords - Samwell III
The boy claimed to be eighteen, older than Jon, but he was green as summer grass for all that. Satin, they called him, even in the wool and mail and boiled leather of the Night’s Watch; the name he’d gotten in the brothel where he’d been born and raised. He was pretty as a girl with his dark eyes, soft skin, and raven’s ringlets.
—A Storm of Swords - Jon VII
“Night gathers, and now my watch begins,” they said, as thousands had said before them. Satin’s voice was sweet as song, Horse’s hoarse and halting, Arron’s a nervous squeak. “It shall not end until my death.”
(…)
He could smell Horse’s unwashed breeches, the sweet scent Satin combed into his beard, the rank sharp smell of fear, the giant’s overpowering musk. He could hear the beating of his own heart. ”
—A Dance with Dragons - Jon VII
Satin was all grace, dancing with three serving girls in turn but never presuming to approach a highborn lady. Jon judged that wise. He did not like the way some of the queen’s knights were looking at the steward, particularly Ser Patrek of King’s Mountain. That one wants to shed a bit of blood, he thought. He is looking for some provocation.
—A Dance with Dragons - Jon X
Imagining his half sister Sansa calling the lands beyond the wall “an enchantment”:
The pale pink light of dawn sparkled on branch and leaf and stone. Every blade of grass was carved from emerald, every drip of water turned to diamond. Flowers and mushrooms alike wore coats of glass. Even the mud puddles had a bright brown sheen. Through the shimmering greenery, the black tents of his brothers were encased in a fine glaze of ice.
So there is magic beyond the Wall after all. He found himself thinking of his sisters, perhaps because he’d dreamed of them last night. Sansa would call this an enchantment, and tears would fill her eyes at the wonder of it, but Arya would run out laughing and shouting, wanting to touch it all.
—A Clash of Kings - Jon III
Giving up his deepest desire and by that, refusing to despoil his half sister Sansa of her rights:
“How can I lose men I do not have? I had hoped to bestow Winterfell on a northman, you may recall. A son of Eddard Stark. He threw my offer in my face.” Stannis Baratheon with a grievance was like a mastiff with a bone; he gnawed it down to splinters.
“By right Winterfell should go to my sister Sansa.”
“Lady Lannister, you mean? Are you so eager to see the Imp perched on your father’s seat? I promise you, that will not happen whilst I live, Lord Snow.”
—A Dance with Dragons - Jon I
Jon said, “Winterfell belongs to my sister Sansa.”
“I have heard all I need to hear of Lady Lannister and her claim.” The king set the cup aside. “You could bring the north to me. Your father’s bannermen would rally to the son of Eddard Stark. Even Lord Too-Fat-to-Sit-a-Horse. White Harbor would give me a ready source of supply and a secure base to which I could retreat at need. It is not too late to amend your folly, Snow. Take a knee and swear that bastard sword to me, and rise as Jon Stark, Lord of Winterfell and Warden of the North.”
How many times will he make me say it? “My sword is sworn to the Night’s Watch.”
—A Dance with Dragons - Jon IV
And of course, as if he sensed he was going to die, informing us that his fondest memory of his half sister Sansa is the following:
He thought of Robb, with snowflakes melting in his hair. Kill the boy and let the man be born. He thought of Bran, clambering up a tower wall, agile as a monkey. Of Rickon’s breathless laughter. Of Sansa, brushing out Lady’s coat and singing to herself. You know nothing, Jon Snow. He thought of Arya, her hair as tangled as a bird’s nest. I made him a warm cloak from the skins of the six whores who came with him to Winterfell … I want my bride back … I want my bride back … I want my bride back …
—A Dance with Dragons - Jon XIII
He's so fluffy!  I'm gonna die!

Dany and Missandei’s relationship
This is a list of all the passages from the books featuring key moments in Dany and Missandei’s relationship.
Here is what some casual fans think of their relationship:
She has consistently appeared to forget about the people she’s conquered beyond their capacity to serve and obey her. And sure, Missandei is her best friend, but she’s essentially a token on Game of Thrones, meant to be a stand-in for the Unsullied as a whole, a relationship that convinces us Dany loves her people. But this doesn’t really align with the way Dany has treated all those other Unsullied.
All of this means that when we see Dany freaking out while Missandei dies, it rings more than a little hollow; Dany’s best friend may be a person of color, but that doesn’t make her less problematic as a white savior. (x)
I would argue that the books (and heck, the show as well!!!) tell a very different story.
A Dance with Dragons
ADWD Daenerys X
Jhiqui and Irri would be waiting atop her pyramid back in Meereen, she told herself. Her sweet scribe Missandei as well, and all her little pages. They would bring her food, and she could bathe in the pool beneath the persimmon tree. It would be good to feel clean again. Dany did not need a glass to know that she was filthy.
~
As the world darkened, Dany settled in and closed her eyes, but sleep refused to come. The night was cold, the ground hard, her belly empty. She found herself thinking of Meereen, of Daario, her love, and Hizdahr, her husband, of Irri and Jhiqui and sweet Missandei, Ser Barristan and Reznak and Skahaz Shavepate. Do they fear me dead? I flew off on a dragon’s back. Will they think he ate me?
ADWD Daenerys IX
“Even if the pits must open, must Your Grace go yourself?” asked Missandei as she was washing the queen’s hair.
“Half of Meereen will be there to see me, gentle heart.”
“Your Grace,” said Missandei, “this one begs leave to say that half of Meereen will be there to watch men bleed and die.”
She is not wrong, the queen knew, but it makes no matter.
~
As Jhiqui brushed Dany’s hair and Irri painted the queen’s nails, they chattered happily about the day’s matches. Missandei reemerged. “Your Grace. The king bids you join him when you are dressed. And Prince Quentyn has come with his Dornish Men. They beg a word, if that should please you.”
Little about this day shall please me. “Some other day.”
ADWD Daenerys VIII
“My queen?” said a soft voice in the darkness.
Dany flinched. “Who is there?”
“Only Missandei.” The Naathi scribe moved closer to the bed. “This one heard you crying.”
“Crying? I was not crying. Why would I cry? I have my peace, I have my king, I have everything a queen might wish for. You had a bad dream, that was all.”
“As you say, Your Grace.” She bowed and made to go.
“Stay,” said Dany. “I do not wish to be alone.”
“His Grace is with you,” Missandei pointed out.
“His Grace is dreaming, but I cannot sleep. On the morrow I must bathe in blood. The price of peace.” She smiled wanly and patted the bed. “Come. Sit. Talk with me.”
“If it please you.” Missandei sat down beside her. “What shall we talk of?”
“Home,” said Dany. “Naath. Butterflies and brothers. Tell me of the things that make you happy, the things that make you giggle, all your sweetest memories. Remind me that there is still good in the world.”
Missandei did her best. She was still talking when Dany finally fell to sleep, to dream queer, half-formed dreams of smoke and fire.
The morning came too soon.
ADWD Daenerys VII
Dany sat amongst the rumpled bedclothes with her arms about her knees, so forlorn that she did not hear when Missandei came creeping in with bread and milk and figs. “Your Grace? Are you unwell? In the black of night this one heard you scream.”
Dany took a fig. It was black and plump, still moist with dew. Will Hizdahr ever make me scream? “It was the wind that you heard screaming.” She took a bite, but the fruit had lost its savor now that Daario was gone.
~
When he was gone, Missandei brought the queen a simple meal of goat cheese and olives, with raisins for a sweet. “Your Grace needs more than wine to break her fast. You are such a tiny thing, and you will surely need your strength today.”
That made Daenerys laugh, coming from a girl so small. She relied so much on the little scribe that she oft forgot that Missandei had only turned eleven. They shared the food together on her terrace. As Dany nibbled on an olive, the Naathi girl gazed at her with eyes like molten gold and said, “It is not too late to tell them that you have decided not to wed.”
It is, though, the queen thought, sadly. “Hizdahr’s blood is ancient and noble. Our joining will join my freedmen to his people. When we become as one, so will our city.”
“Your Grace does not love the noble Hizdahr. This one thinks you would sooner have another for your husband.”
I must not think of Daario today. “A queen loves where she must, not where she will.” Her appetite had left her. “Take this food away,” she told Missandei. “It is time I bathed.”
~
Missandei reemerged from inside the pyramid. “Reznak and Skahaz beg the honor of escorting Your Grace to the Temple of the Graces. Reznak has ordered your palanquin made ready.”
Meereenese seldom rode within their city walls. They preferred palanquins, litters, and sedan chairs, borne upon the shoulders of their slaves. “Horses befoul the streets,” one man of Zakh had told her, “slaves do not.” Dany had freed the slaves, yet palanquins, litters, and sedan chairs still choked the streets as before, and none of them floated magically through the air.
“The day is too hot to be shut up in a palanquin,” said Dany. “Have my silver saddled. I would not go to my lord husband upon the backs of bearers.”
“Your Grace,” said Missandei, “this one is so sorry, but you cannot ride in a tokar.”
The little scribe was right, as she so often was. The tokar was not a garment meant for horseback. Dany made a face. “As you say. Not the palanquin, though. I would suffocate behind those drapes. Have them ready a sedan chair.” If she must wear her floppy ears, let all the rabbits see her.
ADWD Daenerys VI
When Daenerys returned to her pyramid, sore of limb and sick of heart, she found Missandei reading some old scroll whilst Irri and Jhiqui argued about Rakharo.
~
A cool wind was blowing on her terrace. Dany sighed with pleasure as she slipped into the waters of her pool. At her command, Missandei stripped off her clothes and climbed in after her. “This one heard the Astapori scratching at the walls last night,” the little scribe said as she was washing Dany’s back.
Irri and Jhiqui exchanged a look. “No one was scratching,” said Jhiqui. “Scratching … how could they scratch?”
“With their hands,” said Missandei. “The bricks are old and crumbling. They are trying to claw their way into the city.”
“This would take them many years,” said Irri. “The walls are very thick. This is known.”
“It is known,” agreed Jhiqui.
“I dream of them as well.” Dany took Missandei’s hand. “The camp is a good half-mile from the city, my sweetling. No one was scratching at the walls.”
“Your Grace knows best,” said Missandei. “Shall I wash your hair? It is almost time. Reznak mo Reznak and the Green Grace are coming to discuss—”
“—the wedding preparations.” Dany sat up with a splash. “I had almost forgotten.” Perhaps I wanted to forget.
~
Daario’s announcement had sparked an uproar. Reznak was wailing, the Shavepate was muttering darkly, her bloodriders were swearing vengeance. Strong Belwas thumped his scarred belly with his fist and swore to eat Brown Ben’s heart with plums and onions. “Please,” Dany said, but only Missandei seemed to hear. The queen got to her feet. “Be quiet! I have heard enough.”
ADWD Daenerys V
She would have kissed her good knight on the cheek, but just then Missandei appeared beneath the arched doorway. “Missandei?”
“Your Grace. Skahaz awaits your pleasure.”
“Send him up.”
ADWD Daenerys IV
The queen welcomed them warmly, then summoned Missandei to see that the girls were fed and entertained whilst she shared a private supper with the Green Grace.
~
… but Daenerys Targaryen had other children, tens of thousands who had hailed her as their mother when she broke their chains. She thought of Stalwart Shield, of Missandei’s brother, of the woman Rylona Rhee, who had played the harp so beautifully. No marriage would ever bring them back to life, but if a husband could help end the slaughter, then she owed it to her dead to marry.
~
How could I ever hope to sleep, knowing that my captain so close? “Send him up at once. And … I will have no more need of you this evening. I shall be safe with Daario. Oh, and send Irri and Jhiqui, if you would be so good. And Missandei.” I need to change, to make myself beautiful.
She said as much to her handmaids when they came. “What does Your Grace wish to wear?” asked Missandei.
Starlight and seafoam, Dany thought, a wisp of silk that leaves my left breast bare for Daario’s delight. Oh, and flowers for my hair.
 ADWD Daenerys III
“Wherever the Mother of Dragons goes, the Mother’s Men will go as well,” announced Marselen, Missandei’s remaining brother.
ADWD Daenerys II
She could hear the soft sounds of sobs. “Who is that weeping?”
“Your slave Missandei.” Jhiqui had a taper in her hand.
“My servant. I have no slaves.” Dany did not understand. “Why does she weep?”
“For him who was her brother,” Irri told her. The rest she had from Skahaz, Reznak, and Grey Worm, when they were ushered into her presence. Dany knew their tidings were bad before a word was spoken. One glance at the Shavepate’s ugly face sufficed to tell her that.
~
“Your servants were set upon as they walked the bricks of Meereen to keep Your Grace’s peace. All were well armed, with spears and shields and short swords. Two by two they walked, and two by two they died. Your servants Black Fist and Cetherys were slain by crossbow bolts in Mazdhan’s Maze. Your servants Mossador and Duran were crushed by falling stones beneath the river wall. Your servants Eladon Goldenhair and Loyal Spear were poisoned at a wineshop where they were accustomed to stop each night upon their rounds.”
Mossador. Dany made a fist. Missandei and her brothers had been taken from their home on Naath by raiders from the Basilisk Isles and sold into slavery in Astapor. Young as she was, Missandei had shown such a gift for tongues that the Good Masters had made a scribe of her. Mossador and Marselen had not been so fortunate. They had been gelded and made into Unsullied.
~
When she returned to her rooms atop the pyramid, she found Missandei crying softly on her pallet, trying as best she could to muffle the sound of her sobs. “Come sleep with me,” she told the little scribe. “Dawn will not come for hours yet.”
“Your Grace is kind to this one.” Missandei slipped under the sheets. “He was a good brother.”
Dany wrapped her arms about the girl. “Tell me of him.”
“He taught me how to climb a tree when we were little. He could catch fish with his hands. Once I found him sleeping in our garden with a hundred butterflies crawling over him. He looked so beautiful that morning, this one … I mean, I loved him.”
“As he loved you.” Dany stroked the girl’s hair. “Say the word, my sweet, and I will send you from this awful place. I will find a ship somehow and send you home. To Naath.”
“I would sooner stay with you. On Naath I’d be afraid. What if the slavers came again? I feel safe when I’m with you.”
Safe. The word made Dany’s eyes fill up with tears. “I want to keep you safe.” Missandei was only a child. With her, she felt as if she could be a child too. “No one ever kept me safe when I was little. Well, Ser Willem did, but then he died, and Viserys … I want to protect you but … it is so hard. To be strong. I don’t always know what I should do. I must know, though. I am all they have. I am the queen … the … the …”
“… mother,” whispered Missandei.
“Mother to dragons.” Dany shivered.
“No. Mother to us all.” Missandei hugged her tighter. “Your Grace should sleep. Dawn will be here soon, and court.”
“We’ll both sleep, and dream of sweeter days. Close your eyes.” When she did, Dany kissed her eyelids and made her giggle.
~
A soft rustle made her open them again. She sat up with a soft splash. “Missandei?” she called. “Irri? Jhiqui?”
~
“Your Grace?” Missandei stood in the door of the queen’s bedchamber, a lantern in her hand. “Who are you talking to?”
Dany glanced back toward the persimmon tree. There was no woman there. No hooded robe, no lacquer mask, no Quaithe.
A shadow. A memory. No one. She was the blood of the dragon, but Ser Barristan had warned her that in that blood there was a taint. Could I be going mad? They had called her father mad, once. “I was praying,” she told the Naathi girl. “It will be light soon. I had best eat something, before court.”
~
Missandei returned with a melon and a bowl of hard-cooked eggs, but Dany found she had no appetite.
~
It was blood the Meereenese yearned to see, not skill. Elsewise the fighting slaves would have worn armor. Only the little scribe Missandei seemed to share the queen’s misgivings.
ADWD Daenerys I
“Your Grace,” said Ser Barristan Selmy, the lord commander of her Queensguard, “there is no need for you to see this.”
“He died for me.” Dany clutched her lion pelt to her chest. Underneath, a sheer white linen tunic covered her to midthigh. She had been dreaming of a house with a red door when Missandei woke her. There had been no time to dress.
~
The Undying of Qarth had told her she would be thrice betrayed. Mirri Maz Duur had been the first, Ser Jorah the second. Would Reznak be the third? The Shavepate? Daario? Or will it be someone I would never suspect, Ser Barristan or Grey Worm or Missandei?
~
Missandei announced her. The little scribe had a sweet, strong voice. “All kneel for Daenerys Stormborn, the Unburnt, Queen of Meereen, Queen of the Andals and the Rhoynar and the First Men, Khaleesi of Great Grass Sea, Breaker of Shackles, and Mother of Dragons.”
A Storm of Swords
ASOS Daenerys VI
“I must remember to do something about the flies,” Dany said. “Are there many flies on Naath, Missandei?”
“On Naath there are butterflies,” the scribe responded in the Common Tongue. “More wine?”
“No. I must hold court soon.” Dany had grown very fond of Missandei. The little scribe with the big golden eyes was wise beyond her years. She is brave as well. She had to be, to survive the life she’s lived. One day she hoped to see this fabled isle of Naath. Missandei said the Peaceful People made music instead of war. They did not kill, not even animals; they ate only fruit and never flesh. The butterfly spirits sacred to their Lord of Harmony protected their isle against those who would do them harm. Many conquerors had sailed on Naath to blood their swords, only to sicken and die. The butterflies do not help them when the slave ships come raiding, though. “I am going to take you home one day, Missandei,” Dany promised. If I had made the same promise to Jorah, would he still have sold me? “I swear it.”
“This one is content to stay with you, Your Grace. Naath will be there, always. You are good to this—to me.”
“And you to me.” Dany took the girl by the hand. “Come help me dress.”
~
Daario and Ben Plumm, Grey Worm, Irri, Jhiqui, Missandei ... as she looked at them Dany found herself wondering which of them would betray her next.
~
“Your Grace,” said Missandei, “Ghiscari inter their honored dead in crypts below their manses. If you would boil the bones clean and return them to their kin, it would be a kindness.”
The widows will curse me all the same. “Let it be done.”
~
“Noble Ghael,” said Missandei, in the dialect of Astapor, “is this the same Cleon once owned by Grazdan mo Ullhor?”
Her voice was guileless, yet the question plainly made the envoy anxious. “The same,” he admitted. “A great man.”
Missandei leaned close to Dany. “He was a butcher in Grazdan’s kitchen,” the girl whispered in her ear. “It was said he could slaughter a pig faster than any man in Astapor.”
I have given Astapor a butcher king. Dany felt ill, but she knew she must not let the envoy see it.
~
“...To prove his faith, Great Cleon offers to seal your alliance with a marriage.”
“A marriage? To me?”
Ghael smiled. His teeth were brown and rotten. “Great Cleon will give you many strong sons.”
Dany found herself bereft of words, but little Missandei came to her rescue. “Did his first wife give him sons?”
~
“Any man who wishes to sell himself into slavery may do so. Or woman.” She raised a hand. “But they may not sell their children, nor a man his wife.”
“In Astapor the city took a tenth part of the price, each time a slave changed hands,” Missandei told her.
“We’ll do the same,” Dany decided. Wars were won with gold as much as swords.
~
“Your Grace?” Missandei stood at her elbow wrapped in a bedrobe, wooden sandals on her feet. “I woke, and saw that you were gone. Did you sleep well? What are you looking at?”
“My city,” said Dany. “I was looking for a house with a red door, but by night all the doors are black.”
“A red door?” Missandei was puzzled. “What house is this?”
“No house. It does not matter.” Dany took the younger girl by the hand. “Never lie to me, Missandei. Never betray me.”
“I never would,” Missandei promised. “Look, dawn comes.”
[...] Dany held Missandei’s hand as they watched the sun come up.
~
“There is nothing to stay for,” said Brown Ben Plumm.
“Your Grace, the slavers brought their doom on themselves,” said Daario Naharis.
“You have brought freedom as well,” Missandei pointed out.
“Freedom to starve?” asked Dany sharply. “Freedom to die? Am I a dragon, or a harpy?” Am I mad? Do I have the taint?
ASOS Daenerys V
“Strong Belwas is hurt.” His stomach was red with the blood sheeting down from the meaty gash beneath his breasts.
“It is nothing. I let each man cut me once, before I kill him.” He slapped his bloody belly. “Count the cuts and you will know how many Strong Belwas has slain.”
But Dany had lost Khal Drogo to a similar wound, and she was not willing to let it go untreated. She sent Missandei to find a certain Yunkish freedman renowned for his skill in the healing arts.
~
“Missandei,” she called, “have my silver saddled. Your own mount as well.”
The little scribe bowed. “As Your Grace commands. Shall I summon your bloodriders to guard you?”
“We’ll take Arstan. I do not mean to leave the camps.”
~
Dany had stopped to speak to a pregnant woman who wanted the Mother of Dragons to name her baby when someone reached up and grabbed her left wrist. Turning, she glimpsed a tall ragged man with a shaved head and a sunburnt face. “Not so hard,” she started to say, but before she could finish he’d yanked her bodily from the saddle. The ground came up and knocked the breath from her, as her silver whinnied and backed away. Stunned, Dany rolled to her side and pushed herself onto one elbow ...
... and then she saw the sword.
“There’s the treacherous sow,” he said. “I knew you’d come to get your feet kissed one day.” His head was bald as a melon, his nose red and peeling, but she knew that voice and those pale green eyes. “I’m going to start by cutting off your teats.” Dany was dimly aware of Missandei shouting for help.
~
Missandei was pulling Dany to her feet when she heard a crack.
ASOS Daenerys IV
Irri and Jhiqui had covered the floor with carpets while Missandei lit a stick of incense to sweeten the dusty air.
~
“Missandei, what language will these Yunkai’i speak, Valyrian?”
“Yes, Your Grace,” the child said. “A different dialect than Astapor’s, yet close enough to understand. The slavers name themselves the Wise Masters.”
“Wise?” Dany sat crosslegged on a cushion, and Viserion spread his white-and-gold wings and flapped to her side. “We shall see how wise they are,” she said as she scratched the dragon’s scaly head behind the horns.
~
The hours crept by on turtle feet. Even after Jhiqui rubbed the knots from her shoulders, Dany was too restless for sleep. Missandei offered to sing her a lullaby of the Peaceful People, but Dany shook her head.
~
On the morning of the third day, the city gates swung open and a line of slaves began to emerge. Dany mounted her silver to greet them. As they passed, little Missandei told them that they owed their freedom to Daenerys Stormborn, the Unburnt, Queen of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros and Mother of Dragons.
“Mhysa!” a brown-skinned man shouted out at her. He had a child on his shoulder, a little girl, and she screamed the same word in her thin voice. “Mhysa! Mhysa!”
Dany looked at Missandei. “What are they shouting?”
“It is Ghiscari, the old pure tongue. It means ‘Mother.’”
Dany felt a lightness in her chest.
ASOS Daenerys III
“All?” The slave girl sounded wary. “Your Grace, did this one’s worthless ears mishear you?”
[...] “Your ears heard true,” said Dany. “I want to buy them all. Tell the Good Masters, if you will.”
~
“The Unsullied will learn your savage tongue quick enough,” added Kraznys mo Nakloz, when all the arrangements had been made, “but until such time you will need a slave to speak to them. Take this one as our gift to you, a token of a bargain well struck.”
“I shall,” said Dany.
The slave girl rendered his words to her, and hers to him. If she had feelings about being given for a token, she took care not to let them show.
~
Dany turned away from him, to the slave girl standing meekly beside her litter. “Do you have a name, or must you draw a new one every day from some barrel?”
“That is only for Unsullied,” the girl said. Then she realized the question had been asked in High Valyrian. Her eyes went wide. “Oh.”
“Your name is Oh?”

“No. Your Grace, forgive this one her outburst. Your slave’s name is Missandei, but ...”
“Missandei is no longer a slave. I free you, from this instant. Come ride with me in the litter, I wish to talk.” Rakharo helped them in, and Dany drew the curtains shut against the dust and heat. “If you stay with me you will serve as one of my handmaids,” she said as they set off. “I shall keep you by my side to speak for me as you spoke for Kraznys. But you may leave my service whenever you choose, if you have father or mother you would sooner return to.”
“This one will stay,” the girl said. “This one ... I ... there is no place for me to go. This ... I will serve you, gladly.”
“I can give you freedom, but not safety,” Dany warned. “I have a world to cross and wars to fight. You may go hungry. You may grow sick. You may be killed.”
“Valar morghulis,” said Missandei, in High Valyrian.

“All men must die,” Dany agreed, “but not for a long while, we may pray.” She leaned back on the pillows and took the girl’s hand. “Are these Unsullied truly fearless?”
“Yes, Your Grace.”
“You serve me now. Is it true they feel no pain?”
“The wine of courage kills such feelings. By the time they slay their sucklings, they have been drinking it for years.”
“And they are obedient?”
“Obedience is all they know. If you told them not to breathe, they would find that easier than not to obey.”
Dany nodded. “And when I am done with them?”
“Your Grace?”
“When I have won my war and claimed the throne that was my father’s, my knights will sheathe their swords and return to their keeps, to their wives and children and
mothers ... to their lives. But these eunuchs have no lives. What am I to do with eight thousand eunuchs when there are no more battles to be fought?”
“The Unsullied make fine guards and excellent watchmen, Your Grace,” said Missandei. “And it is never hard to find a buyer for such fine well-blooded troops.”
“Men are not bought and sold in Westeros, they tell me.”
“With all respect, Your Grace, Unsullied are not men.”
“If I did resell them, how would I know they could not be used against me?” Dany asked pointedly. “Would they do that? Fight against me, even do me harm?”
“If their master commanded. They do not question, Your Grace. All the questions have been culled from them. They obey.” She looked troubled. “When you are ... when you are done with them ... your Grace might command them to fall upon their swords.”
“And even that, they would do?”

“Yes.” Missandei’s voice had grown soft. “Your Grace.”
Dany squeezed her hand. “You would sooner I did not ask it of them, though. Why is that? Why do you care?”
“This one does not ... I ... Your Grace ... ”

“Tell me.”

The girl lowered her eyes. “Three of them were my brothers once, Your Grace.”
Then I hope your brothers are as brave and clever as you.
ASOS Daenerys II
“The Good Master Kraznys asks, are they not magnificent?” The girl spoke the Common Tongue well, for one who had never been to Westeros. No older than ten, she had the round flat face, dusky skin, and golden eyes of Naath. The Peaceful People, her folk were called. All agreed that they made the best slaves.

Armenian Women in Visual Arts
Tumblr media
I took a class on Armenian culture and history in university that exposed me to this beautiful country and people and opened my eyes to the undeniable tragedy of the Armenian Genocide of 1915.
I’m not Armenian, but I’m Greek on my dad’s side which I found out is very similar. We both love our dolma’s and hate the Turks. But in all seriousness, we share a lot of similarities with Armenian culture, including its political history, which has helped me to further empathize with the current struggles they are facing as a country. It's heartbreaking to see that, just five years after the 100 year anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, Armenians appear to be facing a second genocide. Armenia’s neighboring country Azerbaijan has been ensuing deadly attacks against them for some time now with the aid of Turkey  and the issue continues to be mostly ignored by the international community. Protests have been raging on both in the nation and diaspora. In no way do I consider myself to be an expert on this subject, but I feel responsible at least to educate myself and do my part as a citizen of the world.
Tumblr media
There is no civilization in the world that, given it possess the resources and will, doesn’t have artists, doctors, lawyers, chefs, musicians, poets, farmers, accountants, etc... The meaning of this to me is that it is proof we are all valuable people, no matter where we come from or what we look like. Just think about how sand is made from millions of tiny parts but looks like one uniform blanket on the beach. If you were to put a handful of sand into a jar, and another handful into another jar, you’d find that each jar is made up of entirely different rocks. But somehow, both have all the elements needed to still look like a handful of sand. That’s how I view culture. Every culture is a handful of sand; they all have necessarily found their own way to explain the universe (religion), their own way to communicate (language), their own way to nourish themselves (diet), and so on... and each way is original and different. But somehow, all of the elements add up to create a civilization, a culture, and a people with a shared identity. The only thing that makes us different is that we’re arbitrarily placed into one jar and not another, but when you look at the big picture, we’re all the same.
Tumblr media
As embarrassing as it is to admit, I think by human nature it’s much easier to care about someone else’s journey in life when they have something in common with you. What I love about art is that when you meet another artist, no matter who, you feel a sort of magical connection to that person and are bonded over your mutual appreciation of it. I am a woman and I am an artist, and because of that, I feel lucky and unworthy in saying I have something in common with these incredibly talented Armenian women that I’m about to share with you.
I. Zabelle Boyajian (1872-1957)
Tumblr media
Zabelle C. Boyajian was a poet, painter and playwright of the Ottoman Empire, born in 1872 in Diyarbakir, one of the ancient Armenian capitals, ‘Tigranakert’. After the murder of her father during the Hamidian Massacres of 1895, she, her mother and her brother immigrated to London. She travelled extensively throughout her lifetime and learned to speak eight languages fluently, including Armenian, English, German, Italian, Greek, Turkish and Russian. Being skilled in so many languages, apart from the arts, she was a great contributor to the translation of many great Armenian works. For example, in 1948, she translated Avetik Isahakian’s epic poem “Abu Lala Mahari” and published it for the world to read. In 1938, thanks to her wide travels, she published several illustrations from her visit to Greece, entitled “In Greece with Pen and Palette”. Exhibitions of her art were held in London, Egypt, France, Italy, Belgium and Germany. She was close friends with Anna Raffi, the wife of the well-known Armenian novelist, Raffi. One of the leading female trailblazers of art, literature and translation, she published her first novel in 1901, entitled “Esther”. She is well known today for her gorgeous storybook illustrations.

VIII. Joanne Julian
Tumblr media
Found out artist Joanne Julian and I are both CSUN alum and native Angelenos!  Julian, who is of Armenian ancestry, says she has been highly influenced by her travels to Asia and thus became skilled in certain Asian techniques, such as mono printing and the “flung ink” or “Haboku” style. Her pieces possess a “Zen quality” to them, as portrayed in her “Zen Circle” series, illuminating the Yin and Yang of Taoist painting. She received her Bachelor’s of Arts and her Masters in sculpture and printmaking from California State University, Northridge. She later received her MFA from the Otis Art Institute of Parsons School of Design. She has participated in over sixty group exhibitions and twenty solo exhibitions nation-wide. Since 1973, Julian has served as the Chair of the Fine Arts Department and Gallery Director at the College of Canyons in Valencia, California. In 2008, from January 25th to February 23rd, she held an exhibition at CSUN’s Art Gallery entitled, “Counterpoints”.

All of the female artists I mentioned have given people a better look into what it means to be Armenian and how the community and its diaspora are trying to solidify the Armenian identity to enable its rich heritage and traditions to live on. And they are just a few of the proud Armenians who have helped raise awareness of the issues Armenians face, as well as give Armenians their due respect in the realm of International Art. And to go one step further, my deepest hope is that one day, art will overcome the war.

Strangely enough, the tension dissipated slightly by the time dinner came around. Although both kingdoms were nearly enemies, both courts dined at tables with laughter and conversation.
Taehyung sat at the end of the long table instilling that he was still the king that was hosting them in his palace.
I was sat next to Taehyung as he had requested. Jungkook had also joined the dinner sitting on the other side of me and Jimin was sitting across from me on Taehyung’s other side. Jungkook had given me a polite smile when we sat, but I was not sure whether to bring up what had happened a few weeks ago. We ended up not really talking although I wished to ask him what he saw when he held my palm.
Both brothers dined as if they had never gone at war with each other and severed their father’s land into two. Either it was that or they were acting very well. Taehyung was more than capable of such an act. I did not know Jimin long enough to guess if he could uphold such an act.
“Seeing as you might be tired after your travels, I would like to host a ball in honor of your arrival tomorrow night. What do you think about that, Jimin?” Taehyung rose a goblet of red wine to take a drink.
“Balls are always fun,” Jimin smiled widely, agreeing. “I was missing the beautiful winters here. Apologies for not sending you an earlier correspondence. If I knew you would be so extravagant with dinners and balls, I would have sent my correspondence a year in advance!”
Taehyung chuckled. “If you traveled so far, I’d like to make your stay worth it, dear brother.” I hoped my ears weren’t mistaken when I heard the edge in ‘dear brother’.
Jimin didn’t seem to have heard it. “It would have been worth it even if you made me sleep in my own carriage,” he joked to which both brothers chuckled after and toasted each other.
It was a heartwarming reunion of brothers, but there was just something that felt off about their conversations and actions towards each other. It did not seem as genuine as they set it out to be.
Maybe history was just exaggerated and there was never really such bad blood.
After the dinner, Taehyung had told me to follow him rather than returning to my quarters. He led me into a room I had never been in. He didn’t care about the secrecy, opening the hidden bookcase entrance with me behind him.
Leading to the room was a hallway with globes of light hung along the wall. When we arrived there, I noticed a pit of sand in the center and swords and armor that hung along the stone walls. Was this some type of training room?
“I want to teach you how to sail,” he stated, turning around with his hands clasped behind his back.
“I don’t want to learn magic,” I countered immediately and crossed my arms. I didn’t want to, truly. Finding out I possessed some type of power already scared me. What if I end up hurting someone with it?
“Well, you have powers whether you like it or not. Might as well put it to some use. Perhaps it will be useful to you in the future,,” he disappeared in the blink of an eye. Then he was behind me before I could notice. “Boo,” a warm breath beside my ear. His hand placed onto my shoulder causing me to jump slightly.
And when I noticed, I turned around and pushed him. Instead of a normal push, something powered through my veins, in my palms, there was enough force and wind that followed that caused Taehyung to end up on the floor many feet away. It was as if I had conjured up wind from nothing. It felt weird when such magic came to me and I’ll never forget the feeling of how it felt like it was crawling right under my skin.
He was surprised for a second before peering up at me with mischievousness in his eyes and a growing smirk on his lips as if to say I told you so.
My own mouth was agape and my eyes on my palms and then him. I did that.
Then in a dissolved smoke of black, he was gone once again. I should have known better when he was behind me once again. Except, this time, my irritation didn’t react fast enough when I turned to push him away, he was already gone in the other corner of the room with his arms crossed as he watched me with those dark eyes.
My patience was growing thin and he was really wearing it thin with this ‘lesson’. When I took one step towards him to confront him, he disappeared once again, reappearing in a different corner.
“Don’t you want to hit me again? Don’t you want to catch me?” He was teasing me, dangling my anger right in front of my face.
I did want to, I just didn’t know how to.
As if he answered my questions, he appeared behind me, arms wrapping around me at the waist and sailing with me in his hold to the center of the room on the sandpit.
“That wasn’t funny,” I nearly shouted, a hiss in my voice. I fell onto my knees and hands because the sailing gave me a wave of nausea as expected. He did it on purpose to irritate me further, enough to make me want to use my magic again.
“y/n,” he sang in a corner of the room once again. “If you wish to catch me, you’ll have to sail because your human feet won’t be fast enough.”
“I don’t know how to!” I cried. My frustration was growing because he was toying with me in the worst way. I used my hands and pushed myself from the ground, planting both feet firmly to keep me balanced.
“Imagine where you want to go and you’ll catch me… maybe,” he said in a taunting tone and another twisted smile. He didn’t move this time as if to test me.
I tried. I imagined moving to where he was. I didn’t move one bit.
“Try harder,” he taunted once again.
I closed my eyes, imagined being in front of his stupid smirking face, tackling him to the sand, and punching that smirk right off.
When I opened my eyes, I was where I intended, except Taehyung had moved again to the opposite side of the room.
Sailing myself was not as bad, but the nausea was still there. I grunted both from being angry and sick. When I looked at him, he waved. I attempted to catch him once again, but he was one step ahead of me.
I sailed successfully but missed my target.
He was back to his original spot, arms crossed. “Come on, you’ll have to try harder than that.” I hated how he was speaking.
I took a step towards him and he disappeared except I had been watching him bounce between different corners. I sailed one split second behind him and with a guess, I picked a corner.
I slammed into something hard, either a wall or Taehyung himself. With a grunt, he fell and I was on top of him, knees on either side of his now lying body.
Did I want to retch from this nauseousness? Yes. Did I want to do it right when I tackled Taehyung and possibly onto him? Yes. Yet, I was not cruel enough to do it.
Instead, I rolled over and whatever I ate for dinner was on the ground beside his head.
“Fuck you,” I never spoke such vulgar words, but after this, I felt the right to do so was mine.
He had already gotten up, offering a genuine smile as his hand reached down to help me up.
“Why did you do that? I said magic didn’t matter to me.” The back of my hand came up to wipe my mouth.
“It will come in handy,” he said. I didn’t know what he meant, but the way he said it felt like he knew I would need it soon. It gave me an unsettling feeling.
I was still slightly nauseous despite walking for a bit and having thrown up so Taehyung walked me to my bedroom.
“Get some rest. Practice it if you’d like to get better at it and have a more accurate sail,” the corners of his lips tugged into a smirk. “I will see you at the ball tomorrow.”
Just as Taehyung said, there would be a ball tonight. I had never seen the palace staff in such a hurry, rushing through hallways with handfuls of plates, glasses and an assortment of decorations. I was surprised there was even such a ballroom in a palace as dark as this one.
I, on the other hand, found myself in the least crowded place: the palace’s library. I hated reading as a child. When my school teacher assigned readings to grow our vocabulary and gave tests on the words, I always failed because I would rather be anywhere else and doing anything else than to be nose deep in a book for hours.
Perhaps, that was why my vocabulary is so limited now.
Now it was ironic, my favorite pastime since arriving at this palace was reading novels in the library. Instead of taking up precious time, they were helping to pass the time. Instead of boring stories that meant nothing to me, they became everything to me; they became stories that weren’t the reality I dreaded.
When it came time, I was summoned by Anna. She brought me back to my bedroom chambers. There I was stripped, bathed, and prepared for the ball.
My dress tonight was tenfold more extravagant and elegant than what I had been dressed thus far. Rather than a ballgown, the dress was tight, hugging the curves of my body with a plunging neckline. The material was smooth in my hands, reflecting the light with every move I made. It was a dark bronze.
Rather than plain pinks and reds being used for my complexion, a dust of silver highlighted my cheekbone and shimmering silver lined my eyes and was painted onto my lips. My hair was allowed to hang freely and loose, but a small crown was still the accessory.
I realized how much both kingdoms treasured their balls and such events for even servants had a different change of clothes just to serve drinks and food at the ball.
Taehyung didn’t meet me to attend the ball together, but I was told by Anna that I would meet him there amongst the people.
It was like a scene out of a fairytale; the moment when the main character arrived in her beautiful gown at the top of the stairs which led down to the floor of the ballroom and everyone turned their heads to steal a glance at her.
I became conscious of my presence, of my own mortality and how much of my body was exaggerated with the dress. It made me feel less comfortable in my skin when all eyes came to me. I was not as beautiful as the folk of the kingdom who even in their cruel fashion and ways had beautiful features. Everything about them outshined humans and their dullness.
They were gifted perfect skins like porcelain in a variety of shades. There was nothing like different pigmentation like birthmarks that humans had; they had no blemishes. They had perfect posture as if they never slouched once in their lifetime and walked with their heads raised and shoulders back.
Although most eyes watching me didn’t know I was not one of them, I was self-aware. I just hoped I was painted enough that I didn’t look like a dull human.
Thankfully, Taehyung was at the bottom of the stairs to give me an excuse to rush from the spotlight. The crown above his brow this time not angled casually, but in its rightful place, exuding simply, he is the king.
He reached for my hand and when I arrived at the landing, I curtsied. He kissed the back of my hand and looked up with daring eyes.
“Breathtaking as always,” a certain smile on his lips.
Even though the words might have been for an act or for the people to see, I felt a flutter in my chest like those words made me feel something and my cheeks heat red.
“Thank you, Your Majesty.” I smiled back and thankfully, the blush on my cheeks made sense so I wasn’t worried about exposing my hidden feelings.
“Dance with me,” he said as he began to walk towards the center of the floor. Subjects and guests parted for him. In the background, the musicians began a new song, a waltz.
Oh no. I panicked slightly; I didn’t want to make a fool out of myself. “Are you sure?” I half-whispered, half loudly voiced.
He only continued and I had no choice but to trust him.
His left hand grabbed onto my right and his right hand onto my waist, allowing me to place my arm along his and hand onto his shoulder.
I realized why I was dressed this way with the silver and bronze. Taehyung was dressed in a suit jacket, the darkest shade of blue, almost black, with a satin black shirt beneath. He also had his silver dust on his cheekbones and a line of silver along his eyes. With Taehyung, I looked like the golden moon in the midnight sky, another symbol that I was his queen to be for everyone to see.
We didn’t speak during the dance, taking many turns and spins amongst the people. His eyes kept locked with mine and although no words were exchanged, I felt like it was enough. I had not felt this way since I last danced with him during the Winter Solstice.
I realized that no one else danced. Was it a kingdom tradition to have the king initiated the dance?
When the dancing slowed, Taehyung’s eyes left my gaze and to something behind me. I could see the shift in his eyes.
“Mind if I steal your partner?” It was Jimin.
“Not at all,” Taehyung replied, calm in his features. He released my hand and allowed Jimin to intercept.
Another dance began, slower, thankfully. My eyes followed Taehyung as he spoke with other members in his court, a champagne glass in his hand. Why did he have to leave me to make a fool of myself dancing with another king?
“Pardon me, my dancing is not the best,” Jimin spoke, drawing my attention back to him.
I returned an embarrassed smile. “I am not as well, Your Majesty.” He chuckled slightly. Silence for a second and I cleared my throat. “Are you enjoying your time at our kingdom?” It was funny how I spoke as if I was the real queen of this kingdom making sure her guests are accommodated properly.
“Of course,” he replied with a gentle smile. “It never fails me how beautiful the nights are here with the clear skies and only stars to shine. It isn’t the same in my kingdom, although we have much lovelier springs and summers opposed to here.”
I wasn’t sure how to respond and only gave a smile in return. “I don’t doubt it.”
Our dance came to an end and a song with notes that truly represented Erebus began. It wasn’t light and flowing, rather something with a more sinful melody similar to the music played at the betrothal announcement. I didn’t really want to continue to listen to it and didn’t know why the guests of another kingdom enjoyed it either. Maybe we all had some cruelness inside of us that we didn’t outright express.
Many of the kingdom’s subjects began their partying and I wandered to a more secluded hallway from the ballroom.
As I walked further, I found myself outside, enjoying the snow and bitter cold, rather than the ball inside. I was in the royal garden that was below my window where roses seemed to still bloom despite the winter, perhaps with the help of the magic from which it grew.
Every single rose was red and there were rows and rows of them.
“Your highness, why are you out here instead of inside enjoying the ball?” A voice surprised me and I turned to see Jimin. He unbuttoned his jacket and placed it onto my shoulders.
“Oh no, you don’t have to,” a small frown came onto my lips, though I couldn’t help but feel grateful.
“It’s much too cold for a future queen of a kingdom to freeze, especially with snow falling,” he smiled. He had very good kind smiles that made anyone believe his words for what they are.
“Thank you.” My hands raised to the lapels of the jacket to pull it tighter around my shoulders.
It felt wrong to be having a private conversation with him after Taehyung warned me to stay by his side and not trust Jimin. I caught myself and realized he was the one who left me to stray. This conversation was not my fault.
“In return, let me know why you ran away from the ball?” His eyes inquisitive, genuinely curious.
“To be honest, I don’t like the music they play during these events or any events,” I admitted truthfully and we began walking along the rows of roses. My eyes kept their stare at the lines of roses as my fingers grazed then drawing on the light coating of snow that soon melted on my fingertips.
“You should visit Hemera sometime then. You might prefer our balls instead. Our music choice is quite the opposite,” he chuckled thinking of the music choice of this kingdom. “It’s much warmer there as well,” he gestured to the snow falling.
“Perhaps,” I gave a small smile, not really considering the idea. An answer that didn’t really give an answer was better than a flat out ‘no’.
“I’m being serious. You might like the change in scenery.”
“I would have to talk to His Majesty about considering the idea,” I replied.
“Pardon my asking, but do you always listen to him? Ask him for his word and permission?” His tone was curious and cautious as if stepping on thin ice with such a question. He didn’t want to really question a future queen and her place within the court, but at the same time, the curiosity was there.
“He is my king and my husband to wed soon. I should be a dutiful queen and wife and listen to him.” It felt like bile in my mouth. The words I had to form for such a lie. I wanted to throw up because I was somewhat defending Taehyung in this situation. Mostly, I sounded like the prim and proper wife who listened to everything her husband had told her to do.
“He listens to me,” before when he wasn’t a king to me and gave me my freedom from marriage. “And it’s important to compromise for this to work.”
“I agree with that,” he nodded along, “A king and queen must work together for the better of a kingdom,” he nodded.
“My love, why are you out in the cold?” Taehyung interrupted the conversation. He had found us.
We weren’t doing anything that would be considered shameful, yet, being caught by my supposed fiance and king made just being alone with a foreign king feel like a sin like it was wrong. The way he spoke didn’t sound any better. “Brother, have you left the ball I threw in your honor?” There was a bite in his question, testing Jimin as if to ask truly, why he was out here talking to me privately.
“Of course, pardon my rudeness. I will be heading back there,” Jimin backed down. He surrendered like a subject to his king rather than being the king himself.
I began to question the dynamic between the two brothers. Jimin left my side and began his trip towards the palace.
Taehyung turned his head, waiting until Jimin disappeared behind the french doors and out of earshot.
“I have told you to stay by my side while he is visiting. Most importantly, have you forgotten that my brother is not a person to trust? I only mean well for you when I tell you such things.”
There it was. His constant scolding of me as if I was some lost child with absolutely nothing to fend myself with. Yet, I still gave in. I backed down like Jimin although the anger was beginning to simmer within me. “I’m sorry, I just wanted to get some fresh air from the ball.”
Taehyung’s eyes softened slightly. “Stay by my side. And where did you get this?” His hand went to the jacket on your shoulder.
“His Majesty gave it to me because of the cold.”
“Just call him Jimin if you are speaking to me about him.” He was annoyed. He was annoyed that I used Jimin’s title? “Return it back to him. If you wanted a jacket because of the cold, you could have asked Anna or anyone else in the palace. Do not go around as the future queen wearing another king’s clothing.”
The anger I tried to keep in check slipped out a bit. “What? Does it hurt your reputation for me to do so? Or are you just jealous that I am wearing another man’s clothing instead of yours?” The last question was a stretch but I was kind of angry so in return, I wanted to bring it out in him. If he was really jealous, I had absolutely no idea.
He was thrown off by that question. “You can do as you wish with other men. Have them in your grace, have them entertain your bed, but as I stated, it is wise that if you choose another lover, my brother is the last person you want to trust and do not parade around in his clothing like it is a trophy. It revolts me and it will lessen the protection I can give you.”
“Go back to your chambers if you wish to not continue the ball,” he dismissed me. He dismissed me like a dog that he didn’t wish to play with at the moment. He snatched the jacket from me and left me in the hallway as he returned the jacket to Jimin.
I hated it. I hated how he could command me like I was any subject of his and always wave his protection like a piece of paper above my head like it was the most valuable thing to me. He used it as a threat to everything I did. He used it to force me into a fake marriage that I was not even sure if it was fake anymore.
I hated that I placed so much trust into coming here to find his help only to find myself stuck and without the help I wanted.
I wanted to hate him, but I just couldn’t find it in me to do so.
Instead, I found a way to ask servants where Jimin’s quarters were and found my knuckles rapping on his wooden door. Servants that passed by bowed quickly and as they walked further, I knew they were talking about how their future queen, betrothed to their king, was standing before another king’s door.
The door was opened by none other than Jimin himself. What did I expect? It was his chambers after all.
His hair was groomed and he was dressed. Was there an event today and I was not told of it?
“Your highness, what brings you all the way to the other side of the palace?” He opened the door wider to invite me in. “Please, come in. We can discuss in a more comfortable area than between the threshold of a room and hallway.”
Jimin gestured to the small living area with two sofas and a coffee table. “Take a seat if you’d like. This isn’t my palace nor my kingdom, but I’m sure I could get you tea if you’d like?” He suggested.
I shook my head to the offer but took a seat on one of the sofas.
“What brings you here?” He took a seat at the other sofa, an angle from the one I sat in and clasped his hands together.
“Remember the other night when you offered for me to visit your kingdom? Is it still a possibility?” I was hoping that there was a possibility I would be able to trust Jimin and that Taehyung was wrong. Perhaps if I went to his kingdom and spent time learning his personality, I would be able to tell him of my situation and ask for his help. I hated that my plans always had an unknown next part, but that’s cards I’ve been dealt with.
He seemed like a better choice than the rejection Taehyung had given me already.
I didn’t want to tell him of my situation just yet, perhaps I will. Besides that, I just wanted to leave this cruel kingdom and most importantly, I wanted to leave this kingdom’s cruel king.
Perhaps, I will end up staying rather than visiting and I will have to come up with an excuse then. I will when the time comes, now is just not the time.
“Of course,” Jimin was surprised, but still agreed. “This is given that you have spoken to His Majesty about it?”
I nodded, but couldn’t say yes. I didn’t want such a small lie to ruin my chance.
“Does His Majesty also wish to visit? It is only right for me to repay his favor for hosting me and my court.”
I found my voice and hoped my words would come out genuine. “He does not wish to come. He is busy with duties here.”
“Very well then,” he nodded. “When do you wish to visit? If you don’t have a date in mind, you can send me a message when you have one.”
“If it is possible to save trouble, I could travel with Your Majesty on your journey back,” I suggested. Please say yes, please say yes, or else I’m not sure when and how I will get to leave here.
“If it is suitable for you,” he replied.
“Yes, it would be great.” I sighed inside in relief. “Thank you.”
I got my escape through means of lies and some kind of deceit, but I was desperate enough to want to leave.
Taehyung was gone again and disappeared from his kingdom completely on some diplomatic duty as I was told. I was grateful that he came back right before Jimin was set to leave.
I was nervous. I was nervous to tell him I made my own decision against his to trust Jimin and stab him in the back by leaving to go to his kingdom.
I probably stood outside of his cabinet room for quite some time before Taehyung discovered me himself. He had opened the door with me standing before it, surprise in his features before he settled them coolly.
“y/n? Why are you outside of my cabinet room?”
I walked past him signaling the conversation was to be in private. He shut the door behind him.
“I’m going to leave with Jimin tomorrow,” I mentioned quietly. “To Hemera.” I didn’t fail to see the slight feather in the muscle of his jaw.
There was a moment of silence, a long one and Taehyung looked as if he was thinking. I thought he was considering saying no which might either be a relief to me or would just anger me more.
“If that is what you wish to do,” he replied bluntly. “Then do as you wish.”
“You’re not going to ask me why?” I think I wanted him to care when I asked that. Instead of turning and leaving after announcing my decision, I wanted to interrogate him just a bit longer and push this in his face; to make him feel uncomfortable with it and show some kind of reaction.
Even though I had made my decision already and wasn’t going to budge, I think a small part of me wanted to see him react at least once. To prove that he cared about what I did and cared what would happen to me.
“If you so desire, then,” his eyes rolled ever so slightly; I didn’t miss that either. “Why are you choosing to go to Hemera?”
This was it; this was my chance to shove everything I had felt down his throat, to tell him he didn’t care about what had happened whatsoever. To tell him that he wasn’t going to help me and he made that straight to me since day one and that he was only keeping me hostage without any intent to find my family.
“All you had done was parade me around like a trophy to plan the wedding. Instead of sending me away when you couldn’t offer help, you kept me here as your bride.” This was it; my victorious statement and it sounded like utter foolishness the moment my argument was stated.
“Don’t you think that as the king of a kingdom, I have the leisure time to spend scouring to the corners of this globe to find your people? A task that required me to look for mere humans of a defenseless village?” His words were sharp like each one was a knife sent plunging into my flesh. He scoffed at the end of it.
I would lie if his harsh rhetorical questions did not split my heart into two pieces; no, it was shattered. The moment those words left his lips, I felt my eyes begin to water, smudging the image I saw of him. My hands at my side began to curl, nails digging into my palm.
I might have been hurt previously by his lack of response and empathy towards my situation, but he had never outright declared my people, my family to be a bunch of nothingness. This was worse than his rejection. This was proof he was just another person from the kingdom who saw my village as nothing but an annoying insect that shared the land.
Sure, he was not our king or leader and we were not his responsibility, but it would have been better if those words remained in his thoughts or if he had put them less harshly. But he was right, he was not obligated to act upon this matter. I just wished he didn’t degrade me and my people in the process.
I was absolutely defeated with no choice but to nod my head, no rebuttal. “You’re absolutely right. You have no responsibility to my people. That is why I am choosing to find my own solution and help since you are not obligated to do so, it is your right.”
I didn’t like the way the words left my throat, but it was spoken in defeat.
Without giving him a second to reply, I turned my back towards him and raised a hand to wipe away the tears threatening to fall. I didn’t want them to fall at all.
I shifted my head to the side. “I appreciate all that you’ve done for me for the past couple of weeks. Truly.”
Even though he did not help me, he gave me a warm bed to sleep in and meals every day when I had nowhere to go. For that, I was grateful and I should thank him for it. Perhaps, the real Taehyung stepped out to make that decision.
He did not reply and his eyes blank, not letting emotion slip through. Although most of me never wanted to see him again after those harsh words, I knew I was not ready to let go of the memories I knew of Kim Taehyung before he was a king to me. Unfortunately, that small part of me wished he jumped out from this king of Erebus role and reached for my hand, telling me to not leave for whatever reason.
But he did not and that allowed me to settle my mind on my departure. It was a fair ending to the conversation.
He was not there for my departure. I understood why, but I had wished he was to at least say goodbye.

YOU WILL MARRY A KING..............
“You,” Ned said, kissing her lightly on the brow, “will marry a king and rule his castle, and your sons will be knights and princes and lords and, yes, perhaps even a High Septon.”Arya screwed up her face. “No,” she said, “that’s Sansa."
(Eddard V- A Game of Thrones)
-------------------------------------------------------------
For me this quote is one of the most important quotes from the entire series because it pretty much sets up for the audience both Sansa and Arya story arc. Sansa will be the sister who will marry and have children and fulfill her childhood dreams of a happy family, which is why Love, marriage and children will be a constant theme in Sansa’s arc story. She will be treated as an object, passed around by the powerful players of the story, all interested in her claim of Winterfell and the North; she will be forced into marriage alliances and her future children will be desired for their claim in the North. Sansa will try to survive as much as she can, keeping still a slim hope to find love and happiness and maybe one day fulfill that sweet dream of a rebuilding her destroyed family.
Arya will follow another path; she will be a warrior and ruler on her own. Arya always wanted to be the keeper of her own holdfast, she wanted to be a knight and fight in battle and most important, I believe Arya wanted to feel the independence that most women in Westeros could never feel. Not that love and marriage is not impossible for her, but I feel George wants Arya to be a Queen regent on her own.
George is trying to tells us in this passage of the books that women should be able to choose their own paths and if its love, marriage and children what they wish for they should have it, but if its not, they should be free to figure out her own destiny. The tragedy of Lyanna Stark was that she never had a choice and was forced into marry someone she never cared for, and I believe George wants to show with both Sansa and Arya that girls should be free to choose their own dreams., because BOTH dreams are equality valid.
A CLOAK STAINED IN FIRE AND BLOOD......................
When she crawled out of bed, long moments later, she was alone. She found his cloak on the floor, twisted up tight, the white wool stained with blood and fire. The sky outside was darker by then, with only a few pale green ghosts dancing against the stars. A chill wind was blowing, banging the shutters. Sansa was cold. She shook out the torn cloak and huddled beneath it on the floor, shivering.
(A Clash of Kings - Sansa VII)
---------------------------------------------------------
Sansa cloaked herself with a cloak stained in "Fire and Blood" the words of House Targaryen. For me this has always been one of the biggest foreshadows on the book and its interesting to notice how George used the character of Sandor Cleagane as a redherring for this scene in order to not make so obvious the connection with Jon.
It was only when we make the connection of this particular scene with one that happened a few chapters before In the book A CLASH OF KINGS that it became pretty obvious this quote was about Jon Snow.
----------------------------------------------------------------
“I’ve never lain with any woman but Cersei. In my own way, I’ve been truer than your Ned ever was. Poor old dead Ned. So who has shit for honor now, I ask you? What was the name of that bastard he fathered?”
Catelyn took a step backwards. “Brienne.”
“No, that wasn’t it.” Jaime Lannister upended the flagon. A trickled ran down onto his face, bright as blood. “Snow, that was the one. Such a white name … like the pretty cloaks they give us in the Kingsguard when we swear our pretty oaths.”
A Clash of Kings - Catelyn VII
When she crawled out of bed, long moments later, she was alone. She found his cloak on the floor, twisted up tight, the white wool stained with blood and fire. The sky outside was darker by then, with only a few pale green ghosts dancing against the stars. A chill wind was blowing, banging the shutters. Sansa was cold. She shook out the torn cloak and huddled beneath it on the floor, shivering.

THE ORDER OF THE CHAPTERS OF THE BOOKS....
Every time Sansa’s marriage proposals are being discussed in the books, the next chapter usually its followed by a JON chapter. Once you put the two quotes together is that you really get it, what George was once again, very delicately trying to tells us.
In the first book A GAME OF THRONES, chapter 4 Eddard I, we have King Robert arriving at Winterfell and asking to visit Lyanna tomb in the crypts of the castle. While there King Robert decides to ask for Sansa’s hand in marriage for his son prince Joffrey. This is the chapter where Sansa and Joffrey become officially betrothed to each other and their Royal engagement its made official. The very next chapter? JON. This is also the chapter where Jon Snow will get drunk in the Feats for the king and ask uncle Ben to join the NightsWatch.
In a CLASH OF KINGS chapter 52, SANSA IV, Sansa will get her period and be finally “fit to bear children to the king”. Cersei then tries, as best as she can, to be a mother figure to Sansa in this very special moment and gives her a womanly advice. She tells her that love is a dangerous feeling that makes us all weaker and it should wiser for her to love only her children. Once again we have a chapter discussing Sansa future marriage to a king and the following chapter is JON VII.
Finally on A STORM OF SWORDS, we have the famous chapter 68, Sansa VI, where she laments that no one will ever marry her for love, its only her name and Winterfell they all want. The very next chapter of the book? JON. Again, thats not a coincidence, George does this, he said that he takes a lot of planning and caring about the way he writes and structures his books.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
A CLASH OF KINGS - THE WINTER ROSE
In A CLASH OF KINGS we will have George very quietly making the connection with Jon, Sansa and the tale of Bael the Bard.  While was I re reading the books I noticed that George was playing with the chapters orders and trying to tells us some hints of the story by putting characters chpaters next to each other. The first time Jon meets Ygritte on “A CLASH OF KINGS”, chapter 51, she tells him a story of Bael the Bard and the Blue Winter Rose:
"The Stark in Winterfell wanted Bael's head, but never could take him, and the taste o' failure galled him. One day in his bitterness he called Bael a craven who preyed only on the weak. When word o' that got back, Bael vowed to teach the lord a lesson. So he scaled the Wall, skipped down the kingsroad, and walked into Winterfell one winter's night with harp in hand, naming himself Sygerrik of Skagos. Sygerrik means 'deceiver' in the Old Tongue, that the First Men spoke, and the giants still speak.
"North or south, singers always find a ready welcome, so Bael ate at Lord Stark's own table, and played for the lord in his high seat until half the night was gone. The old songs he played, and new ones he'd made himself, and he played and sang so well that when he was done, the lord offered to let him name his own reward. 'All I ask is a flower,' Bael answered, 'the fairest flower that blooms in the gardens o' Winterfell.'
"Now as it happened the winter roses had only then come into bloom, and no flower is so rare nor precious. So the Stark sent to his glass gardens and commanded that the most beautiful o' the winter roses be plucked for the singer's payment. And so it was done. But when morning come, the singer had vanished . . . and so had Lord Brandon's maiden daughter. Her bed they found empty, but for the pale blue rose that Bael had left on the pillow where her head had lain."
(A Clash of Kings – Jon VI)
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Right next in the following chapter 52, Sansa has her first flowering. This is the chapter where Sansa gets her first period and its now “fit to bear children to the King.”
"The blood is the seal of your womanhood. Lady Catelyn might have prepared you. You've had your first flowering, no more." Sansa had never felt less flowery. "My lady mother told me, but I... I thought it would be different.""Different how?""I don't know. Less... less messy, and more magical.” Queen Cersei laughed. "Wait until you birth a child, Sansa. A woman's life is nine parts mess to one part magic, you'll learn that soon enough... and the parts that look like magic often turn out to be messiest of all." She took a sip of milk. "So now you are a woman. Do you have the least idea of what that means?" "It means that I am now fit to be wedded and bedded," said Sansa, "and to bear children for the king." …….
Do you want to be loved, Sansa?" "Everyone wants to be loved." "I see flowering hasn't made you any brighter," said Cersei. "Sansa, permit me to share a bit of womanly wisdom with you on this very special day. Love is poison. A sweet poison, yes, but it will kill you all the same."
(A Clash of Kings – Sansa IV)
---------------------------------------------------------
In the chapter 52, Sansa gets her period for the first time. She is taken to see Cersei who uses the moment to give Sansa womanly advice about love. She warns Sansa that love is dangerous and make us weaker. The following chapter of the book is JON VII.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
“Robert wanted to be loved. My brother Tyrion has the same disease. Do you want to be loved, Sansa?” “Everyone wants to be loved.” “I see flowering hasn’t made you any brighter,” said Cersei. “Sansa, permit me to share a bit of womanly wisdom with you on this very special day. Love is poison. A sweet poison, yes, but it will kill you all the same.”
(A Clash of Kings – Sansa IV)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In the end of chapter Cersei warns Sansa about love and how dangerous it can be. The following chapter of the book is also JON VII. George really wanted us to picture Jon, Sansa and the Blue Winter Rose tale all together. For me this is one of the biggest clues that not only Jon and Sansa will marry but also, its their child that will continue House Stark.
----------------------------------------------------------------
A STORM OF SWORDS - THE FALLING SNOW
In A storm of Swords, George used the prologue of the book to foreshadow Jon and Sansa romance, using the snow to symbolize Jon Snow. In the two paragraphs under, Chett will lament that heavy snow has ruined his plans for desertion and that Jon Snow and Sam stole his comfortable position as Maester Aemon’s steward: and that Jon Snow stole his position.
“He could feel tears freezing to his cheeks. It isn’t fair, he wanted to scream. Snow would ruin everything he’d worked for, all his careful plans. It was a heavy fall, thick white flakes coming down all about him.How would they find their food caches in the snow, or the game trail they meant to follow east? They won’t need Dywen nor Bannen to hunt us down neither, not if we’re tracking through fresh snow. And snow hid the shape of the ground, especially by night. A horse could stumble over a root, break a leg on a stone. We’re done, he realized. Done before we began. We’re lost. There’d be no lord’s life for the leechman’s son, no keep to call his own, no wives nor crowns. Only a wildling’s sword in his belly, and then an unmarked grave. The snow’s taken it all from me … the bloody snow …”
“Snow had ruined him once before. Snow and his pet pig.”
(ASOS Prologue)
--------------------------------------------
And later we have Jon Snow introducing himself as “the snow”……
“The singer rose to his feet. "I’m Mance Rayder,” he said as he put aside the lute. “And you are Ned Stark’s bastard, the Snow of Winterfell.”
 ( A Storm of Swords – Jon I)
---------------------------------------------------------------
Then comes Sansa’s chapter at the end of the book, where she will feel snow falling down her lips and touching her almost like a lover……..
Snow was falling on the Eyrie.
Yet she stepped out all the same. Her boots tore ankle-deep holes into the smooth white surface of the snow, yet made no sound. Sansa drifted past frosted shrubs and thin dark trees, and wondered if she were still dreaming. Drifting snowflakes brushed her face as light as lover’s kisses, and melted on her cheeks. At the center of the garden, beside the statue of the weeping woman that lay broken and half-buried on the ground, she turned her face up to the sky and closed her eyes. She could feel the snow on her lashes, taste it on her lips. It was the taste of Winterfell. The taste of innocence. The taste of dreams.
(A Storm of Swords - Sansa VIII)

A FEAST FOR CROWS - SANSA FIRST LOVE
In A FEAST FOR CROWS, chapter 23, we have Sansa playing the role of Alayne Stone, Littlefinger bastard daughter. In this chapter Sansa remembers Lord Yohn Royce son,  Ser Wayman Royce and how she fell madly in love with him when he visited Winterfell on his way to take the black on the Nights Watch. If we go back to the prologue of the first book, we will find out that surprising, Ser Waymar physical description is identical of Jon Snow. George is trying to tell us that Sansa will probably be physical attracted to Jon Snow once she is reunited with him later in the story.
"Bronze Yohn knows me," she reminded him. "He was a guest at Winterfell when his son rode north to take the black." She had fallen wildly in love with Ser Waymar, she remembered dimly, but that was a lifetime ago, when she was a stupid little girl. "And that was not the only time. Lord Royce saw . . . he saw Sansa Stark again at King's Landing, during the Hand's tourney."
- A FEAST FOR CROWS,  Alayne I
------------------------------------------------------------
Waymar Royce is described as follows. Notice how similar this description is to Jon.
Ser Waymar Royce was the youngest son of an ancient house with too many heirs. He was a handsome youth of eighteen, grey-eyed and graceful and slender as a knife. Mounted on his huge black destrier, the knight towered above Will and Gared on their smaller garrons. He wore black leather boots, black woolen pants, black moleskin gloves, and a fine supple coat of gleaming black ringmail over layers of black wool and boiled leather.
A GAME OF THRONES, Prologue
---------------------------------------------------------------
Jon’s eyes were a grey so dark they seemed almost black, but there was little they did not see. He was of an age with Robb, but they did not look alike. Jon was slender where Robb was muscular, dark where Robb was fair, graceful and quick where his half brother was strong and fast.
- A GAME OF THRONES, Bran I
----------------------------------------------------------------
JON SNOW BECOMING SANSA'S HERO
“Sweet one,” her father said gently, “listen to me. When you’re old enough, I will make you a match with a high lord who’s worthy of you, someone brave and gentle and strong. This match with Joffrey was a terrible mistake. **That boy is no Prince Aemon, you must believe me.”** -
( A Game of Thrones – Sansa III)
She shouted for Ser Dontos, for her brothers, for her dead father and her dead wolf, for gallant Ser Loras who had given her a red rose once, but none of them came. She called for the heroes from the songs, **for Florian and Ser Ryam Redwyne and Prince Aemon the Dragonknight, but no one heard.**
(A Clash of Kings – Sansa IV)
They were not little boys when they fought, but knights and mighty heroes. “I’m Prince Aemon the Dragonknight,” Jon would call out, and Robb would shout back, “Well, I’m Florian the Fool.” Or Robb would say, “I’m the Young Dragon,” and Jon would reply, “I’m Ser Ryam Redwyne.”**
A Storm of Swords – Jon II
Notice how Sansa's heros match with with the ones Jon's used to pretend to be as a child.
“Frog-faced Lord Slynt sat at the end of the council table wearing a black velvet doublet and a shiny cloth-of-gold cape, nodding with approval every time the king pronounced a sentence. Sansa stared hard at his ugly face, remembering how he had thrown down her father for Ser Ilyn to behead, wishing she could hurt him, wishing that some hero would throw him down and cut off his head.
A game of Thrones – Sansa VI
"I will not hang him," said Jon. "Bring him here." "Oh, Seven save us," he heard Bowen Marsh cry out. The smile that Lord Janos Slynt smiled then had all the sweetness of rancid butter. Until Jon said, "Edd, fetch me a block," and unsheathed Longclaw.

THEIR DREAMS COMPLETING EACH OTHERS
Dreams of home and family
“She pictured the two of them sitting together in a garden with puppies in their laps, or listening to a singer strum upon a lute while they floated down the Mander on a pleasure barge. "If I give him Sons, he may come to love me. She would name them Eddard and Brandon and Rickon, and raise them all to be as Valiant as Ser Loras. And to hate Lannisters, too. In Sansa’s dreams, her children looked just like the brothers she had lost. Sometimes there was even a girl who looked like Arya.”
A STORM OF SWORDS, Sansa II
“I would need to steal her if I wanted her love, but she might give me children. I might someday hold a son of my own blood in my arms. A son was something Jon Snow had never dared dream of, since he decide to live his life on the wall. I could name him Robb”..-
A STORM OF SWORDS, Jon XII
Rebuilding Winterfell……
The snow fell and the castle rose. Two walls ankle-high, the inner taller than the outer. Towers and turrets, keeps and stairs, a round kitchen, a square armory, the stables along the inside of the west wall. It was only a castle when she began, but before very long Sansa knew it was Winterfell.
A Storm of Swords - Sansa VII
Winterfell, he thought. Theon left it burned and broken, but I could restore it. Surely his father would have wanted that, and Robb as well. They would never have wanted the castle left in ruins.
A Storm of Swords - Jon XII
--------------------------------------------------
There is so much foreshadow for this relationship that I always shake my head when people say there is nothing in the books about this romance.

Heroes III
Heroes of Might and Magic III: The Restoration of Erathia (commonly referred to as Heroes of Might & Magic 3, or simply Heroes 3) is a turn-based strategy game developed by Jon Van Caneghem through New World Computing originally released for Microsoft Windows by the 3DO Company in 1999. Its ports to several computer and console systems followed in 1999-2000. It is the third installment of the Heroes of Might and Magic series. The game's story is first referenced throughout Might and Magic VI: The Mandate of Heaven and serves as a prequel to Might and Magic VII: For Blood and Honor. The player can choose to play through seven different campaigns telling the story, or play in a scenario against computer or human opponents.
This was awesome game <3
