I’m spending my free time making masks for local hospitals- and I could use help getting supplies!

As many of my followers know, I’m not in the best financial situation, which isn’t helped by... everything. 

I’m spending my free time making masks. I’ve gone through most of my leftover cotton supply, and could use some help to purchase more raw materials.

To be 100% clear- this is ONLY to buy materials. I am not asking for money for myself, this will all be put directly into supplies for masks. This includes- interfacing, cotton fabric, elastic, thin wire and replacement needles for my machine.

Kasvosuojus Elk

Step 1

Piirrä taiteltavalle paperille Ø 28 cm ympyrä käyttäen apuna esimerkiksi paistinpannun kantta tai harppia.

Step 2

Taita ympyrä kahtia puoliympyräksi. Taita sitten puoliympyrä neljännesympyräksi.

Mittaa ja merkitse piste MP1 neljännesympyrän halkaisijalle noin 11,48 cm etäisyydelle neljännesympyrän kulmasta G janalle G→C.

Aseta suorakulmaviivain janalle G→C kohtaan MP1 ja merkitse neljännesympyrän kaarelle piste D kohtaan, missä suorakulma leikkaa neljännesympyrän kaaren siten, että D:n ja MP1:n välinen etäisyys on noin 8 cm.

Mittaa ja merkitse piste F neljännesympyrän toiselle sivulle 3,5 cm etäisyydelle neljännesympyrän kulmasta G ja leikkaa paperi janaa D→F pitkin.

Step 3

Avaa leikatun neljännesympyrän yksi taittelukerta.

Mittaa ja merkitse piste A 1 cm etäisyydelle kulmasta LB ja 2,5 cm etäisyydelle pisteestä G.

Mittaa ja merkitse 1 cm etäisyydelle pisteestä RB piste B janalle LB→RB ja yhdistä pisteet B ja C kaarella, jonka halkaisija on Ø 28 cm.

Step 4

Mittaa ja merkitse piste E 6 cm etäisyydelle pisteestä F suoraan kulmaan janaan A→F nähden.

Leikkaa paperi kaarta B→C sekä janoja A→B, D→E ja F→E pitkin.

Step 5

Avaa leikatun paperin taitos (alkuperäisen ympyrämuodon tasolle), ja piirrä ”rusettimainen” muoto paksulle pahville tai vanerilevylle. Valmista valitusta tukevammasta materiaalista leikkaussapluuna.

Aseta leikkaussapluuna maskin ulkokankaan (esimerkiksi 100 % puuvillaa) päälle ja piirrä muoto kankaalle tai leikkaa ulkokangas  suoraan leikkaussapluunan muotoiseksi. Kuvassa ”yläpiikki” tulee nenän päälle ja ”alalisäkaari” leuan päälle.

Leikkaa leikkaussapluunan muotoinen pala maskin sisäkangasta (esimerkiksi vanhasta lakanasta). Leikkaa myös mahdollisesti maskiin tuleva välikangas leikkaussapluunan muotoiseksi.

Step 6

Taita leikattujen kankaiden kaarevat reunat vastakkain siten, että kankaan nurja puoli jää ulos ja ompele kunkin kankaan kaareva osa kiinni esimerkiksi 0,6 cm päästä reunasta ja päättele ompeleen alku ja loppu.

Leikkaa kukin kangaspala kapeimmasta kohdastaan (F→A) auki.

Step 7

Aseta maskin ulko- ja sisäkankaat päällekäin siten, että kankaiden keskiommelsaumat ovat kohdakkain, keskiommelsaumat ovat näkyvillä kappaleen etu- ja takapuolella, ja kangaspalojen nurjat puolet ovat esillä. Luultavasti maskin sisäpuolinen kangaspala täytyy kääntää (vasen reuna oikeaksi reunaksi).

Ompele kasvomaskin ulkoreuna lähes kokonaan kiinni esimerkiksi 0,6 cm päästä reunasta jättäen 4 cm aukon ompeleeseen. Nenän kohdalle (kulma D) voi ommella leipäpussinsulkijan tai jonkin muun metallikappaleen nenäpidikkeeksi. Keskisaumat voi taittaa eri suuntiin.

Step 8

Käännä säkkimäisen kasvomaskin sisäpuoli (kankaan oikea puoli) ulos esille pienestä ommelaukosta, ja ompele käsin aukko umpeen.

Leikkaa esimerkiksi halkaisijaltaan Ø 1,5 mm pyöreästä kuminauhasta kaksi 28 cm pituista pätkää, ja polta pätkien päät.

Työnnä kasvomaskien päätyjä (sivua F→A) pussimaisen maskin sisään esimerkiksi noin 0,8 cm (etusormen kynnen noin puolivälin verran) niin, että muodostuisi nauhakuja.

Step 9

Aseta kuminauha nauhakujaan, ja ompele kuminauhan ja maskin reunan välistä, läheltä maskin reunaa.

Solmi kuminauhat ja vedä solmut piiloon kuminauhakujiin.

Mask update! These are either running low or sold out. :) I have more prints on the way, and I will be closing the Etsy store from Monday to Thursday this week to get everything updated. I'm also finishing up some other jewelry pieces so I can get those restocked as well. Kawaii and goth fabric is becoming increasingly more difficult to find, but I'm going to keep plugging away.
