Going back to my steam locomotive builds, here is my take of the Western Maryland M-2 Challenger. This is also the first time I have built an articulated locomotive in Minecraft since the Northern Pacific Z-5 I back in December 2024.

Random (possibly hideous) minecraft:

I was watching Minecraft videos on youtube, and one building challenge was to use a random block generator, get five random blocks (full blocks, not things like panes or flowers), and then use those five as the focus of a build.

You can use other blocks alongside them, you’re not stuck to just these blocks, but they do have to be the clear focus of the build.

And, well, I decided to try it? And my five random blocks:

Stripped acacia, polished blackstone, dark prismarine, honey block, shroomlight.

So, uh. Yeah. An interesting selection? So I tried to build a house:

Not sure if that one succeeded or not …

I've added oxidised copper bulbs, warped stem and pale oak wood, plus stairs and slabs, etc. But yeah. I think this one is, if not a miss, at the very least quite loud. Heh.

Ah well. Fun challenge!

Minecraft Christmas Build Advent Day 10

Not much to report from today... probably because I have to be up early tomorrow for something. Here's a progress picture of the tree.

I was going to build more but a creeper ended up blowing up part of the supply chest next to the tree and destroying all the supplies. WTF...

Stage one of the Kingdoms of Minecraftia challenge!! (I forgot to take a picture of the farm, my bad)

Im playing modded so I do have a few more blocks I can use in this stage, like loam made from sand and clay. The white walls are actually white concrete *powder* which means I can still pick it up with my hands! :D

Could I have made this smaller? Yeah,,,, And I probably should have,,,, But oh well it is what it is

Day 31 -Denoument

And here we are! 31 Days of building finally reach there conclusion. This has been such a fun challenge to participate in, and it has really pushed me to improve in several different kinds of building (as well a revealing what blocks and styles I default to)

Day 5 Portal!

Holy cow this one was so finicky. I tried making this with glass panes first and it did like the opposite of the effect I was trying to get. I was fighting with the lighting of both regular Minecraft and with my shaders. But it's done and I'm pretty satisfied with it :D

The Deserted Dunes are now slightly less deserted! Meet Hummus, a Silver Lilly Moonwalker from the beautiful mind of @xensilverquill. Hummus is a crocheted sculpture that I had the opportunity to purchase a while back and I have not stopped thinking about making her in Minecraft ever since. She now lives in the Deserted Dunes as part of my Polygondwanaland Project.

in the thrilling conclusion of the alphabet challenge, letter T, I wasn't originally planning on bothering with it on its own due to the palette being basically nothing. I don't have the snapshot items on this world, so no fancy tuff for me.

I ended up doing this instead since I had an idea. abandoned public restroom.

this mysterious hole leads into the ground. then there's this.

yeah. yep.

moving on, U items don't exist, and I merged V and W since V is barely two items. the palette is surprisingly okay. it's just that there isn't a lot of color variation, so the definition is a little hard to make out. (nigh invisible windmills no matter what color I use) the exterior turned out cool though.

the interior is extremely chaotic because I wanted it to look like there were clouds inside (and I didn't really try to polish it). I wanted the house to have a lot of possible takeoff and entry points, and I wanted it to look windy and cloudy, so the building has a lot of balconies and lofts.
