still find it crazy that what allowed me to know what the hell the Ravenloft map system is like wasn't reading the map over again. It wasn't my notes and my Google Docs, or even YouTube videos going through it. It was a- it was a video of someone showing off their scale model of castle ravenloft IN MINECRAFT. They even had red stone traps set in place. Seeing someone go through it physically even in Minecraft made the dumb-ass elevator click so fast in my mind. All those stairs, all the connected levels suddenly made sense

I don't want to go to sleep because then I have to get up and get ready and go to work until 5:30 and then have senior meetings after work until like 9 pm so by the time I get home it'll be 9:30 pm and time to go to bed so that I can get up for work the next day and then work until 5:30 again :( I WANT to play Minecraft with my friends on our server and build a Walmart parking lot in the Nether and watch Supernatural :(

Breaking my own heart by writing a few trial scenes for the early story of the rewrite! Ohhhh boy. I am starting to get a hand on how I want Aph's character to go in the beginning, and I think I really like her, and I think I like the way her and Garroth are sort of... playing back and forth with where the lines are in their relationship, where there's this lord/guard dynamic... but Aph isn't even officially a lord, so they could just bond as people... and they even HAVE, a little... but there's still just that odd barrier, that concern about stepping out of line. They care about each other. They are worried for each other. Garroth doesn't show her a lot of his personal concerns or thoughts. I also very intentionally plan to have a scenario where Garroth is never seen without his helmet until after Aphmau returns from the wolf tribe and Bright Port with the potion, and she sees him sleeping without it, and he wakes up and they have a brief conversation, and he passes back out again. Then, the next time she sees him, when he's up and walking around, he's got his helmet on, and he doesn't say anything about what happened. This physical barrier preventing her from seeing his face, his expressions, his real thoughts, the same barrier that denotes his station, his job in relation to her. A barrier he dropped to her once in a moment of extreme emotional vulnerability (when he's terrified for Zenix's safety, and learning he may have been betrayed), and now he's trying to move on from it, as if it was just him slipping up, when Aph really does WANT to know those parts of Garroth as well.

I just think that the themes are neat. I would also considering dropping some scene early drafts (understanding that they are very early drafts and may not even be relevant to the final product! Next to nothing is written at all, let alone in stone). Not QUIIIITE sure about this particular scene I'm writing yet, but I definitely want to keep working on it. I think it's almost certainly final draft material, once I refine it.

Heard the Blender website is putting up a banner just for me saying "Welcome home, cheater" whenever I decide I want to get back into 3D modelling :/

#this is a joke but like. it has been 6 years since i've last touched blender and even then i only spent like 3-5 hours figuring lighting #very basic element manipulation and how the plug-ins i had installed worked for stuff like 3d animation and texture mapping #i'll watch a video on how to work this stuff eventually. until then i'll just fuck around and find out <- it's been putting off as much as #downloading the program for months because it's been going through a bad case of artblock #might also learn blockbench solely because i like changing my mc skin at least once a year and the browser editor i use is. laggy #shout out to skinpedia though. it and planet minecraft truly have been carrying these past 7 years ✌#boo rambles
