I posted these guys like. A year ago. But that was a whole year ago and it was a flop post, so...

This is Mythical Mew Mew!

In the year of 2002, five super-heroines made their debut, all immediately recognizable with their colorful outfits and animalistic features; a pink cat, a blue bird, a green porpoise, a yellow monkey, and a purple wolf. These five girls dutifully defended earth from threats, first from an alien invasion, then from a group of supernatural terrorists, even gaining a new member in the process, a white rabbit. It is now the year 2022. Tokyo Mew Mew have been dormant for at least a decade, their true identities never revealed and theories of their origins still unanswered. Unbeknown to the public, the world is once again at risk, and with Tokyo Mew Mew unable to answer the call, a new generation of Mews must be created.

I've been working on these girliepops since 2017. So uh... close to a decade....... They're definitely the OCs I've put the most time into. I was around 15 when I made them, so they've basically grown up alongside me.

I plan on uploading individual posts for all of them but I am also very lazy and easily distracted, so bare with me lmao.

I also know that they are NOT!! letting my girl be the cute girliepop nerd she deserves to be because girls can't like fashion and the color pink and be mathletes. It's the law smh. So she's definitely getting made into more of an airhead :(

I wanted her name to be super preppy, like something that just screams lovergirl who has never done manual labor.

Love loses again 😔 her bisexuality is NOT getting mentioned or even hinted at. I could also see 4Kids erasing the fact that she is half Filipino and just making her Spanish or Mexican. It just feels like some weird crap they'd pull, y'know?

I also think they'd exaggerate her personality and make her more downright mean and snarky than standoffish and blunt.

Oh and in the spirit of Zoey's wild mountain cat, they might refer to Luna's DNA animal as just an umbrella octopus instead of clarifying the specific species.

Luna seems like a cool edgy girl name, while Alonso is Spanish and is super similar to her father's canon surname; Alon.

Wain Himura — Savannah Drake

They would add in romantic subtext between her and her best boy friend. She's canonically aroace but this is 4Kids BAYBEEEE.

Much like Kyoho, they're erasing Wain's culture :( Ryukyuan? What's that, don't know her. Being insanely charitable, maybe they'd make her Hawaiian.

4Kids is not tolerating an aggressive, shop-lifting, street fighting delinquent. So that's getting MASSIVELY toned down. They will make her use totally radical and modern slang instead. Shout out Musa Winx Club.

And her surname being Drake is a silly lil pun. Get it. Drake. Like. Like dragon. Because she's dragon themed.

Love loses, as usual. Instead of having a gigantic baby crush on Kyoho, Emily just really, really, really admires Luna, nothing bisexual going on here!!

They're also definitely toning down the severity of the bullying she faces and how strict and overbearing her parents are.

4Kids might also play up the rich girl side of her and make her more privileged than she really is.

The Hart in Hartford means deer, in reference to one of her RDA. I picked her first name because it sounds cute and soft and it reminds me of Emily Dickinson.

I.... honestly don't think they'd change much about her? I mean they'd exaggerate aspects of her personality, maybe make her a more generic cheerful kid, but that's about all.

She's had SO MANY different dub names, but I finally landed on Mollie Summers. I think it fits her cutesy bubbly energy.

Love loses but you knew that already. They're dulling her sparkle, wringing the sheer lesbian energy out of her like a wet rag. They're also turning her cry-baby attitude and ditziness up to eleven for comedy purposes.

4Kids would, without a doubt, give her a valley girl accent.

I wanted her dub name to match Ichijiku's quirkiness and Harper Quinn just felt right. It gives me an artsy, modern vibe.

Banban Liu — Faye Yang

VA: Tara Sands

😔 All my gays... eviscerated... she totally doesn't have a crush on her bestie :) Faye and Harper are just normal heterosexual gal pals :) nothing queer going on here teehee :)

Other than that the only real change they'd make is changing the languages she can speak from Mandarin and Japanese to Mandarin and English.

Faye is a pretty common name for Chinese-American women, it's also a little old fashioned. Combined with her one-syllable surname, it sounds kinda blunt, very fitting for her.

My token heterosexual gets off easy. 4Kids would make her more of a stereotypical mean teenage girl, complete with inserting like and totally into her dialogue constantly. I think they'd also make her less complex and likable.

She was super easy to name. Ashley is the privileged white mean girl name.

Tiramisu — Letha

VA: Kerry Williams

My sad little lady is lucky; 4Kids probably won't change much about her, aside from making way more jokes about how sleepy she is.

Letha is short for lethargic.

Soufflé — Devi

VA: Kathleen Delaney

4Kids is declawing her. SMH they do not support evil women doing horrible things.

Devi is short for devious.

Ganache — Cidica

VA: Lisa Ortiz

Ganache is losing their agender swag 😔 I think 4Kids would take one look at that twink and their crop top and their dumb little ponytail and make them a girl. Ganache is canonically an assassin, which would be a no-no for a kids' show, so instead Cidica would be Devi's bodyguard. No death and maiming and murder allowed.

Cidica is acidic spelled backwards.

Palmier — Mordan

The biggest change 4Kids would do is making his experiments much less unethical.

Mordan is short for mordant.

Honestly 4Kids would leave her alone for the most part, they'd just make her less violently obsessed with Mordan.

Momose Ame, also known as Mew Candy is the leader of Mythical Mew Mew.

She's infused with two animals; the Eriskay pony and Sumatran rhinoceros, causing her Mew form to resemble a unicorn.

Ame is bubbly and well-meaning, but also a little selfish and overbearing. She tends to shove her nose where it doesn't belong, often leading her into trouble.

Her weapon is the Candy Keysword, a cross between a sword and a keyboard, and her attack is Ribbon Candy Charm.

Venuz is a nightmare for traditionalist parents everywhere! He plays polite whenever he sees them, but they know he's up to no good. Frankly, Bill's up to no good, so anyone he hangs around probably is, too. And, like any teenage-girl-at-heart, the more his parents don't like him, the more Bill does!

Well, frankly, Scalene probably doesn't care as much as Euclid does. (In my headcanon) she's a luxurious, dramatic wine aunt who larps being rich, so she's more just jealous that her son is doing "better" than her. Yeah, jealous of her own kid, super mature. Euclid, on the other hand, is the kind of guy who cannot manage his emotions. He's neurotic and terrified of breaking societal rules and that fear is expressed in anger towards Bill's delinquency and intolerance for anything that's "weird" (such as Venuz's conical shape. Where the heck are your sides?!).

As for Venuz's parents...his father left the moment his mother got pregnant, so he's never in the picture. His mom, however, was an ice-cold saleswoman who attempted for a while to teach her son about the harshness of life before letting him fend for himself around age ten. She couldn't care less about what or who he's doing :P

i think it’s cute :] i certainly wanted the looey color swap skin but i’m not pressed abt it. it’s nice she got a wholly unique skin as her first, instead of one based on another character at least. and like i get peopel being upset it’s not funny enough for an april fools skin but i see it more like ‘april showers’, than april fools. rain, therefore a rainbow. and honestly besides the shirt i don’t really care for the Guess What I Eat skin. it is Just Purple. with ichor(?) on her hands for some reason. i hear the intention is to put these other two skins in the game eventually anyway? so again i’m not pressed abt it
