Everyone knows Mario is cool as fuck. But who knows what he's thinking? Who knows why he crushes turtles? And why do we think about him as fondly as we think of the mystical (nonexistent?) Dr Pepper? Perchance

I believe it was Kant who said "Experience without theory is blind, but theory without experience is mere intellectual play." Mario exhibits experience by crushing turts all day, but he exhibits theory by stating "Lets-a go!" Keep it up, baby!

When Mario leaves his place of safety to stomp a turty, he knows that he may Die. And yet, for a man who can purchase lives with money, a life becomes a mere store of value. A tax that can be paid for, much as a rich man feels any law with a fine is a price. We think of Mario as a hero,but he is simply a one percenter of a more privileged variety. The lifekind. Perchance.

Pokemon nuzlockes have always interested me, but I've never played one all the way through. However, I plan to change that since I modded my 3DS recently. I'm going to play through the first 7 regions in Pokemon and nuzlocke all of them, and what better region and game to start with than Kanto in Fire Red.

Rules

Only catch the 1st Pokemon on each route

If a Pokemon faints, it's 'dead' and will be placed in a 'graveyard' box in the PC

Each Pokemon needs to be nicknamed for more attachment

Only 1 Pokemon of each species (if I catch a Pidgey, I can't catch more Pidgey or Pidgeotto)

I can only use as many items in battle as my opponent (Brock gets 1 item in battle, so do I)

So we begin our journey by ignoring the fact our mom told us Professor Oak is looking for us and immediately trying to leave town only to be found by Oak and dragged over to his lab where we are given our choice of 3 starter Pokemon. I choose Squirtle since it's my favorite Kanto starters and name him Turt.

Turt the Squirtle, Nature- Impish

As we try to leave the lab, our rival, Kaz challenges us to a battle. It's a standard first battle, both sides spamming tackle until we beat him, and Turt gains a level. Then, with our first victory, we begin to make our way up to Viridian City, battling a couple of Pidgey along the way, getting Turt up to level 7 and learning Bubble. Upon entering Viridian City's Pokemart, the clerk stops us, somehow knowing that we are from Pallet Town and asks us to be his delivery boy and take Oak his parcel that just came in.

We agree, and with some quick ledge jumps, we make it back to Pallet with no wild battles and had over Oak's Parcel just in time for Kaz to enter the lab and ask what Oak wanted us to do for him. Oak talks about how he's old and not good at catching Pokemon anymore, then hands each of us, a Pokedex, and some pokeballs and tells us to go catch Pokemon for him

Kaz then tells us that we aren't needed and that he's going to tell his sister not to give us a map, but she feels bad that Oak is making us fill out the dex for him so she gives us one anyway. We then set out to route 1, now actually able to catch Pokemon, so we begin looking for our second team member and end up finding a level 3 Rattata who doesn't put up much of a fight and quickly joins our group.

Remi the Rattata, Nature - Timid

We take some time to train Remi, up to Turt's level on route 1 learning Quick Attack on the process. Afterward, we move on to route 22 west of Viridian City to catch another Pokemon as there are many good options here. We end up finding a level 5 Mankey who evolves into one of my all-time favorite fighting types, so we waste no time catching the pig monkey and adding it to our ranks.

Pork Chop the Mankey, Nature - Brave

Now that we have a party of 3 Pokemon, we begin training for our next battle and the final one of this part. At level 6, Pork Chop learns Low Kick, which should prove useful during the battle with Brock later on. Once each member of our team is at level 9 we are are ready for our next battle,

Rival Battle 2 VS Kaz

He opens with a level 9 Pidgey, and we send out Turt. We use Bubble to damage Pidgey as Kaz commands his bird to sand-attack us, which makes it difficult for Turt to hit further attacks and he needs to be switched out due to low health when Pidgey is at around half. Luckily, Remi's quick attack finishes Pidgey off leaving Kaz with only Bulbasaur left

Remi's quick attacks are too much for Kaz's Bulbasaur, however, and we swiftly earn our second victory over Kaz, who claims we won due to luck.

That's will be the end of this part! Next time, we will travel through the Viridian Forest, Explore Pewter City, catch new Pokemon, and Battle our first gym!

This is Lucy and Robin-----one is bright, happy stubborn af and wants to be just like her parents, and the other is quiet, somewhat cynical and prefers tinkering quietly over much else. Also he’s super lanky so people often mistake him for the older sibling fvghjkand yes Auntie Rhythmi would definitely dote on them, no doubt :3

Character development: Lucy

I feel like its time to introduce an element of Lucy’s character that i’ve been working on a l ot recently, IE her actual character development. And to be honest, she got got hit with the development hammer pretty hard XD. Also its still a work in progress so bear with me. Remember how in the Fears post i mentioned that she developed a fear of failure eventually? (justlikegoodoldmom). Well, the reason for that is because what started her on the road to development was her messing up a big mission. Badly. Very badly. Her arrogance got in the way and as a result, things got messed up (what happens specifically is up to you), and people, multiple civilians and Robin included, ended up getting hurt. (Robin even had a scar left over). Lucy was. Messed up by it. She couldnt handle what had happened, she couldnt handle the fact that multiple people and her own little brother ended up hurt because of her. (This definitely didnt help all the scrutiny she was under already, because since she’s the firstborn of almia’s two greatest Top Rangers she’s under a l o t of pressure/judgement). She ended up running away without warning for a couple of days before she was brought back, and went into a deep depression for awhile. She barely left her room and just. Couldnt cope. It took many many days of talking from other people and thinking for her to come to the realization that she needed to be better, stronger, more ready. She needed to get her shit together. She needed to change herself and the way she worked.  That change started with her hair. She went somewhere secluded and cut it, opting to not let it grow back until she was better and stronger than she was before, enough to where no one would get hurt because of her again. She put the goal of wanting to be like her parents behind her and focused on doing her job the best she could, and keeping people safe. Unfortunately, she does develop a bad fear of failure because of this, and her training regimen becomes much more brutal, but those are issues to be tackled in another post :D

Leonardo:

-Ah yes, the fruity brother -Also supportive but in the most extravagant way possible -Makes you do fashion shows with Mikey to try on different outfits and styles if you don't already have one -Passive aggressive when someone misgenders you -When you're feeling dysphoric he makes the worst and corniest jokes ever to cheer you up (it always works somehow)

Donatello:

-Literally offers to do some high tech mod but you say no, as cool as it sounds. -Instead helps with your research in transitioning socially and medically (if you want to) -Donnie is a lil bit trans too. he/him agender fr -Also passive aggressive when someone misgenders you but is more aggressive than passive... -If you had a bad day lets you chill in his lab and explains his recent project to you for hours so you have no choice but to not be sad -You two also listen to Hatsune Miku bc shes a trans AND autistic icon

Michelangelo:

-HES NON-BINARY BC YES. -You talk for hours about your experiences being trans (also donnie listens) -Brings out Doctor Feelings when you're sad or dysphoric -He's just fun to hang around -If someone is being transphobic in Mikey's vicinity they better pray.

April O'Neil:

-Coolest ever. Shes really supportive -This one can ACTUALLY go to pride with you (sorry turt bros) -Bought you a binder/packer/pride flag -Like Mikey she will go feral if someone is being transphobic and bothering you -When you're bummed or dysphoric she demands you to come over to her house so you can have her mom's soup. works every time

What techniques would the boys use to teach their kids how to swim?

Leo:

Floating!  Laying on your back while someone supports you underneath.  Leo will progressively stop holding his child up once they are comfortable enough to float on their own, so this way they have no fear of going under.

Raph:

Supporting his child’s body while they spastically move their arms and feet in the water.  He zooms them around and keeps telling them “Kick your feet kick your feet!  Move your arms!” Once they’re comfortable to try it on their own he lets go, but sticks close.

Donnie:

Starts them off with floaties.  He’ll go to the other side of the pool and encourage them to swim over to him. 

Mikey:

Doggie-paddle!  Big splashes and a lotta giggles goes on, but it works.  He doesn’t leave their side until he feels like they can do it on their own.
