a little ramble/analysis on Monster School: A New Lesson’s herobrine

throughout herobrines lengthy time of being known on the internet, one relatively simple personality has been decided for him: mysterious and wholly malicious with not a good bone in his body. A New Lesson breathes a new life into the character, giving him a much needed personality beyond evil and all powerful.

herobrine most of the time carries himself as playful, if not short tempered, shown by giving detention to skellington, zombee and multus for (in skellingtons case) something he didn’t do (and in zombee and multus’ case) a genuine and honest mistake. he likes to have fun, he seems to genuinely enjoy his role as professor. herobrine is also shown to be mature, shown by him accepting the fact that he’s getting chewed out by the witch until she throws swears in

he is also shown to be capable of empathy. multus is shown to be scared as they’re forming, and herobrine simply reaches out his hand and rests it on their middle head.

but it should not be forgot that herobrine is still extremely powerful. it’s obvious he isn’t even trying with the wither skeletons. he doesn’t gaf they are tryna challenge him. all he does is wave like “hiiiii :3”, beckon, and then does he do his thing. he is powerful and he knows it. he is not afraid to show off his strength. also note that he has a wither skeleton in his class. he KNOWS they aren’t just mindless beasts. herobrine was toying with sentient creatures just for a laugh. he may be silly and capable of empathy, but he is not a good person. he’s just herobrine.

side note props to the animators for making these simple rigs so emotive. the witch has by far the most animated emotions, with her eyes, pupil size and body language all playing a part in showing her annoyance, shock, and overall “why do i put up with this” attitude. herobrine and multus (as well as most of the other monsters) only have their eyes animated, but they are still super expressive. multus shows fear, shock, etc. the wither skeletons, despite having no animation to their face whatsoever still have so much emotion in their body language. shaking to convey fear, hitting another wither skeleton to say “hey bro do your job”, walking forward and aiming their sword to challenge. the three all have distinct personalities shown.

its the way he flip flops between “silly little teacher man” and “your worst nightmare”.

he has fun, he likes to tease, he enjoys being silly as seen when he scares the witch with a skull. he is capable of empathy as shown when he’s comforting multus as they’re forming. he’s relatively mature as shown by him accepting the witch chewing him out until she throws swears in.

but he has god like power and he is NOT afraid to show it off, shown by the entire wither skeleton sequence. i also saw it as him not even taking the fight seriously. he knows damn well the wither skeletons can’t harm him, so he’s just screwing with him, shown by his nonchalant wave.

I don't know if you guys have heard, but an animator called DirLexo on Youtube has started a (reboot? re-imagining? I'm not sure) of Monster School, and the first not-a-short video came out today.

He was born in the city of withers along with his brother Toby. Unlike most withers, and like his brother, Martyn was not fond of killing people without a reason, and usually the withers never had a reason for attacking even an unarmed player. Instead, Martyn liked to spend his time playing the guitar. This caused some tension between his parents and peers, but not between him and his brother since they were on the same page. Eventually, at the age of thirteen, Martyn and his brother were thrown out of the wither city, but they didn’t really care; they hated it there anyway. Personality: Like his brother Toby, Martyn is a wither with a strong, stoic personality. For the most part, he is quiet and never says anything, but underneath it all, he is a kind, caring individual who would never hurt those he’s closest to, or innocent people. People tend to mistake him for an emo due to his first impression, but he isn’t. He doesn’t like to be pushed too far, but if you’re nice to him, he’ll be nice to you. Some people also say he is a mirror twin of Toby, and vice versa, but this has yet to be confirmed. Facts: Like Justin, Big Ed, Remy, Blaise, and Toby, Martyn was created a while back when I first got Minecraft. Like Justin, Big Ed, Remy, Jenny, Blaise, and Toby, Martyn was created for Team Mayhem before it got scrapped. The live-action version of Martyn is still alive, he just lives at the top of the Nether with his brother instead of in my mansion since he can't fit. Like his brother, Martyn bears a resemblance to SoTotallyToby's avatar:     images6.fanpop.com/image/photo… except Martyn is taller, but at one point, Martyn the Wither bore a darker resemblnace to InTheLittleWood's Minecraft avatar, only without the headband.  The reason he bears a resemblance to Toby's avatar is because he's Toby the Wither's twin brother, and Martyn the Wither started out as an imaginary friend before morphing into an OC. The other reason he looks like that is because Martyn was created the same way his brother was created: I spawned another wither at the top of the Nether, named a name tag "Martyn" since I was a Yogscast fan back then, slapped it on the new wither, and Martyn was born. He originally started out as a darker wither version of InTheLittleWood himself, but as time grew, Martyn obtained a different look and his own personality and backstory. He can play guitar and can sing, much like his brother can. He likes heavy metal too, his two favorite bands are Judas Priest and the Black Veil Brides. He is NOT an emo. He likes stuffed animals, Hot Topic (no stereotyping please, that's just a coincidence), fireflies (the bug not the song), yoga, and lava lamps. PONPONPON is his biggest guilty pleasure. Eventually, as time went on and I entered junior year of high school (and later on got my first dA account), Toby became more developed and I created a signature look, separate personality, and a backstory for him, and that's how he came to be. He can play the bass and the guitar and carries either of the two with him. He has a fondness for metal music, his two favorite metal bands are Metallica and the Black Veil Brides. Do not call him an emo, he is not an emo. He likes boat rides, ice structures, and rabbits. He also likes making music with his brother.
