Ship and Mecha spotting in Space Runaway Ideon Episode 34: "After the Meteor's Fall"

Part of what makes the Buff Clan such a compelling threat to the crew of the Solo Ship is their advanced weaponry and technology. Apparently, this includes ships from different universes altogether!

A brief sequence from 02:20 to 02:37 showcases the mobilization of a massive Buff Clan fleet. Among Guramu Zan, Sadesu Zan, and other Buff Clan ships, there are a few other familiar faces!

On the first pan, from left to right, we have the Great Degwin (Mobile Suit Gundam), three Zanzibar-class ships (Mobile Suit Gundam), The USSC Discovery (2001: A Space Odyssey), and White Base (Mobile Suit Gundam) in her originally intended color scheme.

As the panning shot continues, we're met with several Musai-class light cruisers (Mobile Suit Gundam), what I suspect to be a Magellan-class (Mobile Suit Gundam), and the USS Enterprise NCC-1701 (Star Trek).

In the final panning shot, we see another Pegasus-class ship (Mobile Suit Gundam), a number of Ideon-original designs, and right at the apex of the pan before cutting to the next scene, the RX-78 Gundam itself! (Mobile Suit Gundam).

This scene was a lot of fun to pick through! If you notice anything I missed, let me know!

Prelude to the One Year War

The following is a master post of events leading directly to the start of the One Year War, particularly the rapid development of new weapons by the Republic of Zeon.

UC 0074

The EFSF convert their vessels' main armaments from shell-firing cannons to mega particle cannons.

In February, Zeonic complete the MS-04 Prototype Zaku.

December, UC 0074

The first Jupiter Energy Fleet returns to the Republic of Zeon, rendering the nation energy independent from the Earth Federation.

Zimmad submits the design of their EMS-04 Zudah to Zeon’s military.

Zeonic completes the first prototype YMS-05 Zaku, later renumbered MS-05A.

UC 0075

Zeonic’s Zaku and Zimmad’s Zudah are trialled against each other to determine which will be adopted as the Zeon military’s mainline mobile suit. The Zaku underperforms compared to the impressive Zudah, but the Zudah’s reactor overheats and explodes, destroying the mobile suit. The Zaku is chosen for its reliability and lower production cost.

In May, Zeonic rolls out the MS-05B Zaku 1, Zeon’s first combat-ready mobile suit.

In July, Zeon commissions the Musai-class space cruiser, the first warship in history designed to carry mobile suits.

In March, Zeon commissions the Gwazine-class battleship, a command ship for their highest-ranking officers.

In April, Zeon begins mass-producing the MS-05B Zaku 1 after widely expanding their mobile suit factories.

In May, Colonel Kycilia Zabi creates the Mobile Training Battalion to train mobile suit pilots and establish mobile suit tactics.

In December, Zeon begins development of specialized mobile suit variants, especially for terrestrial and maritime warfare. A high-performance "R-type" Zaku is also proposed.

UC 0077

In April, the Riah Revolution occurs at Side 6. Zeon military backs the nationalist faction, sending a squad of Zakus to blockade the EFF, helping to secure the revolution’s victory. Side 6 declares independence from the Earth Federation as the Riah Republic.

In August, Zeonic rolls out the MS-06A Zaku 2. Its performance is greatly improved over the Zaku 1, but Kycilia Zabi orders it redesigned to be better equipped for melee combat, expecting that the Federation will eventually develop their own mobile suits.

In September, per Kycilia's orders, Zeonic rolls out the MS-06C Zaku 2.

UC 0078

In January, Zeon begins mass-producing the Zaku 2 C-type, replacing the Zaku 1 as its military mainstay.

In February, the EFF's SCV-X project begins construction of SCV-27A, a carrier for the FF-S3 Saberfish fighter.

In March, the EFF commence the RX Project, though the Federation at large dismisses the threat of Zeon's humanoid weapons and remains skeptical about developing their own.

In September, Zeonic rolls out the MS-06F Zaku 2. This version lacks its predecessor's heavy radiation shielding, making it lighter and in turn granting it better performance. The commander-use S-type is later developed, based on the nimble F-type.

In October, as part of Zeon's preparation for a possible Earth invasion, Zeonic rolls out the MS-06J Zaku 2. It is closely based on the F-type, but lacks rocket thrusters to further reduce its weight.

On October 24, the government of Side 3 rechristens itself as the Principality of Zeon and declares independence from the Earth Federation.

In November, the Principality of Zeon begins national mobilization. Supreme Commander Gihren Zabi divides the military into the Space Attack Force, under Vice Admiral Dozle Zabi, and the Mobile Assault Force, under Vice Admiral Kycilia Zabi.

In December, the Principality of Zeon begins the lengthy production of the Dolos-class, a trio of massive warships capable of carrying a staggering 182 mobile suits.

The Terror of the White Devil (A Gundam 0079 Story)

Imagine, if you would:

You are a Zeon Mobile Suit pilot, stationed on Earth during the One Year War. This are looking well for your side; you have the technological advantage in the form of the Zaku II, the Feddies are on the back foot, Zeon has several ace pilots. Things are looking up.

Then, one day, you hear a report about the destruction of a Side 7 colony. You hear about the Federation battleship known to your superiors as the 'Trojan Horse', and its three Mobile Suits.

You hear about Char Aznable, quite possibly Zeon's best ace pilot, the man who can push the Zaku II to fly at three times the speed of anyone else, being forced to retreat.

You hear about the Mobile Suit called the White Devil.

At first, you laugh it off. Sure, it's a bit nerve-racking that the Feddies have Mobile Suits of their own now, but that's just how war goes. White Devil was probably just a spooky name to get the boys riled up.

Then, you hear about the battle at Luna II, and how the White Devil not only slaughtered a whole platoon of Zaku's, but forced Char to retreat again.

Now, you're rightfully scared. One MS, able to take down an entire platoon, and consistently go toe to toe with the Red Comet himself? And the Trojan Horse is heading for Earth?

Now, you hear about the battle to prevent the Trojan Horse's descent to Earth. You hear about how several Feddie ships got shot down, and that both the Trojan Horse and White Devil survived. They survived a third battle with Char, and have made it to Earth.

Days pass, and you are absolutely terrified of the prospect of fighting this monster. Your brothers in arms try to reassure you, but you can see the fear in their eyes. They're just as scared as you are, and somehow, that gives you comfort.

Then, the alarms blare. The Trojan Horse has been spotted in your airspace.

You sortie in a platoon of fifteen Zaku's, ten tanks, and ten fighter jets. Deep in your heart, you wonder if this'll be enough.

In the distance, you see the Trojan Horse. Such an odd looking ship; nothing like the musai-class ships you've seen. You seen one of its front portions closing, and conclude with dread that the White Devil is already out there.

Just then, a flash of light shoots past one of your fellow Zaku's. By all rights, that should have just barely been close enough to be called a graze, yet your ally's reactor goes critical anyway, and explodes.

Several mortar rounds rain down upon your tanks and jets, sinking them all in a matter of seconds. The Zaku's spread out, but more flashes of light strike, and soon, there's only three of you remaining, a cloud of dust obscuring your vision.

Your breathing is heavy. The radar, as you'd expect, doesn't work, due to the Minovsky particles in the air. All you can rely on right now is your camera and your gut.

Something in the dust moves. You and your comrades open fire, unloading the entire magazine of each of your weapons. The shadow moves what can only be described as a large shield in the way, and barely moves as round after tank-sized round slam into it. It didn't care.

The shadow raised its right hand, holding a rifle of some sort, and fired a flash of light. One of your allies fell over with a hole burnt through their cockpit.

Your other ally tries to flee, but the shadow is faster. It discards the rifle, reaches for a handle on its back, and leaps high into the sky, drawing a blade of light and cutting you ally in two, right down the middle.

The MS looks at you, and not in the way a Zaku looks.

The camera's on a Zaku were designed to be efficient. One camera, with a wide range of view. You only really needed a single camera to look forward.

This mech, no doubt the White Devil, had two cameras; two eyes.

You're terrified, but you draw the Zaku's Heat Hawk anyway. The Devil stares you down, and through the dust, you notice how unnatural it looks compared to the Zaku.

Its limbs are too slim. Its body is too square. Its corners are too sharp. Its 'head' looks more like a helmet worn by old Japanese samurai, with V-shaped horns cresting the top.

And those eyes. Those yellow, uncaring eyes, are still staring at you.

You scream as you charge the Devil. You swing you Heat Hawk down, but the White Devil was faster. Before you even realise it, you no longer have a right arm to you Zaku. With it so close, you finally get a good, long look at the face of this monster, and freeze.

You can clearly make out a chin. You think you can see a mouth, possibly even a place for a nose. You can almost imagine ears beneath that helmet.

You were suppose to be fighting a mechanical monster. Nobody told you it would look so...

So human.

The Waking Dead Part 1

A/N: The word is getting out. Sean and Nick now know. Who will find out next. Meanwhile, Juliette learns more about wesen and woging.

This chapter will have a couple of different POV’s before we return to Lorelei’s. Also, if you want to be added to the taglist, let me know.

***Sean’s POV***

As Sean left Lorelei’s that morning, he felt as if he were on cloud nine. He couldn’t remember a time when he had been happier. Lorelei, his beautiful and smart soulmate was carrying his child. He was going to be a father. Sean had never thought it would happen. Considering his relationship with his own father, Sean had been sceptical about fathering his own children. What kind of father would he be when he didn’t have the best example growing up. Furthermore, Sean had never truly had a steady relationship with a woman that could have led to children. He had been waiting, waiting for his soulmate. And now, he had her and they were having a baby.

Despite his happiness, there were a few things that worried him. First, was his family. What would they do when they found out a Grimm was carrying a child with Royal blood? They were already interested in Lorelei; would this lead them to make a move. And secondly, was Lorelei’s family. Nick and their friends. He had no doubt there would be some threats to his life. He had seen how loved Lorelei was and how overprotective they could be. Rosalee already knew and soon the rest would know as well. Sean hoped they would leave them be, and not try to dissuade Lorelei from being with him.

Not long after he reached work, he received a call from Lorelei, giving him a heads up that she had told Nick, and the detective wasn’t too happy about it. Sean noticed when Nick and Hank came in later. Evidently, Nick had told Hank as both men were giving him dirty looks when they thought no one was watching. Thankfully, they were busy with a case and seemed to have realised that the precinct wasn’t the best place to confront him. However, Sean knew it would be coming. He wasn’t going to let it bring him down though. He had his soulmate, they were expecting a child, and that’s all that mattered.

***Nick’s POV***

Nick Burkhardt was pissed. Of all the things he expected his little sister to tell him, this was not it. Renard was her soulmate! And she was pregnant! She was nineteen and he was somewhere in his early forties. Sure, Lorelei was more mature than most her age, but what could she possibly have in common with a police captain almost twice her age. Nick knew Renard was shady, but he didn’t realise he was this shady. Had he been planning to use his status as Lorelei’s soulmate to get to the key? Was he using her? God, he wanted to hit something, preferably Renard. But he couldn’t. No matter how justified it was.

Hank noticed Nick’s mood and questioned him about it on their way back to the precinct. “I thought that whole musai influence thing was broken. What’s got you in a mood?” He asked.

Nick sighed. “Yeah, this is not the musai’s influence. This is something else, something Lorelei told me this morning.”

“What’d she tell you that has you so pissed?”

Nick let out another sigh. “She’s pregnant with her soulmates baby.”

Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Hank starting at him in surprise. “What? Lorelei found her soulmate. And she’s pregnant? Who’s the soulmate?”

Nick gritted his teeth and gripped the steering wheel hard. “It’s fucking Renard. Bastard defiled my sister.”

“What!” Hank shouted. “Captain Renard, our captain, that Renard?”

“That’s the one.”

“Son of a bitch.” Hank said. “Well, now I’m pissed too. What the hell? You gonna confront him?”

Nick nodded. “Eventually, but I can’t exactly do it at the precinct.”

“That is true. But let me know when you do, I’ll hold his arms while you hit him.”

***Lorelei’s POV***

As her class for the day had been cancelled, Lorelei decided to visit Rosalee at the spice shop. Just to kind of decompress before her appointment later this afternoon. Lorelei knew she would have to tell Monroe soon as well. He wasn’t at the spice shop when Lorelei arrived, but maybe he would stop by later and she could tell him then. Now that Nick knew, word would probably spread. No doubt, Hank would notice her brother���s mood and find out from him. At least she didn’t have to keep it a secret anymore.

“Hey sweetie.” Rosalee greeted her as she walked into the shop. “How’d it go last night?”

Lorelei nodded. “Good. Sean was pretty happy. Nick, not so much.”

Rosalee looked surprised. “You told Nick already?”

“Yeah, he asked to meet for breakfast this morning. He was in a good mood, so I thought, lets ruin that.”

Rosalee chuckled a little. “So, he didn’t take it too well?”

Lorelei shook her head. “No, not really. Although, better than expected. Hopefully he doesn’t do something stupid, like attack Sean at work.”

“Hmm, hopefully. Tea?”

“Yes please.”

At little while later, as Rosalee finished up with a customer, Monroe, Bud, and Juliette came into the shop. “Is everything alright?” Rosalee asked.

“Uh, not exactly.” Bud said, as Monroe turned the sign to closed in the door.

“And by that you mean?” Lorelei asked him, coming to stand beside Rosalee.

Monroe answered. “Remember the night Nick brought Juliette over to my house to…”

“The night that Monroe was supposed to show me something that was going to make me believe in everything Nick had told me.” Juliette finished.

Rosalee and Lorelei glanced at Monroe. “You know where this is going Rosalee.” Bud said.

“I have a feeling.”

“Good, ‘cause maybe you can talk them out of it.”

Monroe stepped forward. “Rosalee, Lorelei, don’t you think it’s too late for that?”

“I don’t.”

“I mean, after all she’s been through and seen. I just – I don’t want to lie to her.”

Rosalee glanced at Lorelei. “I don’t either.” Lorelei confessed.

Rosalee sighed, closing her eyes for a second. “I think you’re right. I don’t either.”

Juliette smiled at the other woman, while Bud started to panic. “Ok, ok. Oh my god. This is really going to happen.” He said, looking between them. “Uh, she should be sitting. Maybe with a blanket.”

“I just want you to show me what you were supposed to show me.” Juliette told them. Rosalee, Monroe and Bud looked each other, obviously trying to decide who would go first. “Now. Please.”

Monroe looked at her. “Ok.” He said. Bud started panicking again, moving to a nearby shelf and almost hiding behind it. Monroe took a deep breath, preparing himself to woge. “Ok, here goes.”

“Monroe, wait.” Monroe looked at Lorelei questioningly. “I think Bud or Rosalee should go first. You might be a bit much to begin with.

“I agree.” Rosalee said, coming from around the counter to stand in front of Juliette. “But not without a little prep.”

“Prep?” Juliette asked, looking confused.

Rosalee let out a breath and smiled at Juliette. “So…have you ever heard of a fuschbau?

Of course, Juliette hadn’t ever heard of a fuschbau. Rosalee didn’t provide a much information. She did direct them into the side room, however.

“Now, I just want you to know that whatever you see, I’m still me.” Rosalee told Juliette.

“It’s still her.” Bud added nervously.

“You know about the wesen, and Monroe’s told you the woging and that’s what I’m going to do now.”

“Remember that it’s still Rosalee.”

“Bud.” Rosalee said.

“Juliette, bottom line, this is what Nick felt was his last…hope to convince you.” Monroe said.

“It really is something that needs to be seen to be believed.” Lorelei told her.

Juliette was starting to look nervous. “Just do it.” She directed to Rosalee.

Rosalee glanced toward where Monroe and Lorelei were standing. “Alright, ok.” She let out another breath. “This is a fuschbau.” She said, before woging.

Juliette leant back a bit, not running, but looking surprised, an eyebrow raised. Rosalee woged back, and they all waited to see Juliette’s reaction. It wasn’t the best.

“Oh my god.” She said, before rushing out the door.

“Juliette.” Rosalee called after her, while Bud started panicking again.

“I knew this was going to happen. I knew it.”

“Should I go after her?” Monroe asked, moving towards the door.

“Maybe I should.” Lorelei told him.

“Maybe we should just call Nick.” Rosalee suggested.

“We gotta do something, we can’t just let her walk out, we gotta do something.” Bud added.

Thankfully, Juliette walked in a couple of seconds later. Clearly, trying to hold herself together. “Ok. I’m not sure what I just saw, but that’s what Nick wanted me to see. You’re a fuschbau…and…and that means you’re a wesen.”

Rosalee nodded. “That’s right.”

“And what you did right there is called a woge.”

“Yes.”

“Uh, so we’re done.” Bud said, looking hopeful.

Juliette looked at him, before turning to Monroe. “And what, you’re a fuschbau too?”

The others looked at him as well. “Uh, not exactly.” Monroe said slowly.

“You’re something else?”

“Uh, you could say that.” Bud said.

“What are you?” Juliette asked him.

Monroe considered it for a moment. “I’m a blutbad.”

“That’s German.”

“Yeah.”

“What does it mean?”

“It means, what I am.”

“I want to see. Will you show me?”

Monroe looked towards Rosalee and Lorelei, clearly not wanting to go next. “I…I’m thinking. Bud. Bud should probably go first.” He said.

Bud looked scared. “What—what—what—what—me?” he said, as everyone looked at him. “Uh, hey, I—I didn’t know I was gonna have to woge. I’m not prepared to woge. You know, I can’t just woge at the drop of a hat. I mean there has to be a certain state of a man has to be in…” And then he woged. Bud glanced at Juliette, seeing the surprise on her face.  He quickly touched his face. “Oh my god, oh my god did I full woge? This is embarrassing.” He whimpered.

Lorelei couldn’t stop the smile that crossed her face at Bud’s antics, neither could Monroe and Rosalee.

“This has never happened before.” Bud cried. He woged back and looked to Juliette. “Are you ok?”

“Mmhm.” Juliette said, clearly trying not to smile as well. “What are you?” She asked gently.

“Me?” He asked. “I’m a…I’m a…uh, brain freeze.”

“He’s an eisbiber.” Lorelei filled in.

“That’s me.” He cleared his throat. “It wasn’t that bad, right?”

Juliette started at him for a moment, before turning to Monroe. “Why did you want them to go first?”

Monroe sighed. “Because I take a little getting used to.” He told her. “But please. Just, trust me.”

“I do.”

“Ok.” Monroe said softly. He stepped back at bit, clearly still a little anxious. He took another breath before woging. “Juliette, this is me.” He said, as Juliette gasped, backing up a little, but stopped herself from running off. Monroe woged back and smiled at her. “See. It’s just me.”

“Ok, so you’re an eisbiber, a fuschbau, and a –.”

“Blutbad.” Monroe finished for her.

Juliette nodded. “And what about Nick? Is he wesen?

Everyone quickly assured her, that no, Nick was not wesen. “He’s like you.” Rosalee told her.

“Except, of course, he’s a Grimm.” Monroe added.

“And that means he know what you are.” Juliette said, and the wesen present answered affirmatively.

“Like we know that he and Lorelei are Grimms.” Bud said. “And you’re…not.”

Juliette rubbed her temples, taking a moment. They all watched her expectantly. “Anybody got a drink?”

“Ok, so you and Nick are Grimms. And you can see wesen, even when others can’t.” Juliette asked, nursing her drink.

Lorelei nodded. “That’s correct.”

“And Grimms hunt wesen, except you and Nick don’t. Not really?”

Lorelei nodded again. “Yeah. Traditionally, Grimms hunt wesen indiscriminately. Good, bad, men, women and children. It doesn’t matter to them. But me and Nick, we don’t do that.”

Juliette nodded. They were all still in the spice shop, answering Juliette’s questions the best they could. Everyone but Lorelei had a drink. And that didn’t go unnoticed.

“Turning down free booze again Lorelei?” Monroe asked. “You pregnant or something?”

Lorelei glanced at Rosalee and Juliette gasped. “Oh my god. I saw that look. You are, aren’t you?”

“I was only joking.” Monroe said, looking at Lorelei. “You’re not. Right?”

Lorelei bit her lip and glanced around at her friends, who with the exception of Rosalee, were looking at Lorelei expectantly. She sighed. “Juliette’s right. I am pregnant.”

“Who’s the father?”

“I didn’t even know you were seeing someone?”

“Hold up, give her some space.” Rosalee told them.

“You knew?” Monroe asked Rosalee.

“I had my suspicions for a while. Lorelei only confirmed it yesterday.”

Lorelei felt a hand come to rest on hers. She looked at Juliette. “Who’s the lucky guy?” She asked, a small smile on her face.

Lorelei sighed. “Um, my soulmate.” That started another flurry of questions. “I found my soulmate last year. We have been keeping things to ourselves. But I guess I should probably tell you who it is, since you know him. And please, don’t give him a hard time. He’s already going to get it from Nick.”

“Well, who is it?” Monroe asked.

Lorelei glanced at Rosalee again, who gave her a nod. “It’s Nick and Hank’s captain. Sean Renard.”

As expected, there was a bit of an uproar, especially from Monroe. He threatened to kill him, with Bud offering to help. Juliette was surprised, asking if Sean was the older guy Lorelei had told her about last year. However, once the initial shock wore off, Lorelei did get some congratulations and excitement about the baby. Lorelei did have to go however, in order to make it to her appointment in time. Rosalee offered to come with her, but Lorelei declined.

Lorelei ran into Sean as they both entered the hospital. “Hi, how was your morning?” He asked, giving her a quick kiss.

“Interesting, for sure.” She replied. “Did Nick give you a hard time?”

Sean sighed. “No, but he and Griffin have been giving me dirty looks all day. Thankfully they’ve been out working on a case. But I am sure it’s coming.”

Lorelei nodded as they headed towards the OBGYN’s offices. “I’m sorry. You’re probably going to get more flak from the others as well. Rosalee, Monroe, Juliette, and our friend Bud know as well. I just got done with the inquisition.”

Sean smiled down at her, brushing hair from her face. “You have nothing to apologise for. You are a very beloved person. They’re just looking out for you.

Lorelei nodded. “That is true.” She said with a sigh, directing Sean towards the elevator. As they head to it, Sean surprised Lorelei by sliding his hand into hers, giving it a gentle squeeze. She glanced up him with a questioning look.

“No need to hide anymore.” He told her with a smile before bringing her hand up to press a gentle kiss to her knuckles.

They made it to the doctor’s office with time to spare. Before seeing Dr Brody, the nurse came in to check Lorelei’s stats. “Your blood pressure is a little higher than it should be. I’ll let Dr Brody know.”

“Hi Lorelei, how are you? And who’s this?” Dr Brody asked as she entered the room.

“I’m fine thank you Dr. And, um, this is Sean. My…soulmate. And the baby’s father.”

Sean shook Dr Brody’s hand. “Glad you could make it Sean.” Dr Brody said. “Now, Lorelei, apparently your blood pressure is a little high.”

“Is it enough to cause concern?” Sean asked, looking worried.

“Not necessarily. Lorelei, any stressors at the moment.”

Lorelei laughed. “Yeah, a few. I finally told my family I was pregnant. For the most part they are ok with it, but…you know.” She finished with a shrug.

Dr Brody nodded in understanding. “I do. Look, we’ll monitor it for the time being. We’ll check in next month, but just take note of any swelling or sudden weight gain.” Dr Brody laughed. “Unfortunately, it’s hard to avoid family sometimes. Especially the well-meaning ones.”

The rest of the appointment was routine. An ultrasound was done, just to check and make sure everything was progressing as it should. Sean had stood by her side, holding her hand as he looked at the screen in awe. Although Lorelei had looked, she found herself more interested in watching Sean. He tried to cover it, but she could see his eyes shining with tears.

Dr Brody sent them off with a couple of copies of the ultrasound photo. As they headed out, Sean kept pulling it out of his pocket to look at his copy. It made Lorelei’s heart sing. Sean walked Lorelei to her car and gave her an extremely passionate kiss before he had to leave to return to work. Feeling breathless, Lorelei got in her car and headed off.

U.C.0079 TIMELINE: Antonia Marcus Julii is a Spacenoid from Side 2. She becomes disillusioned with the reality of the world that she lifed in. She left Hatte on U.C.0077 and went to Zeon's Military Academy despite ignoring her father's wishes although it was approved by her mother and brothers. During One Year War, not knowing what's she's doing, under orders and was easily manipulated by Colonel Asakura, she released G3 Gas on her home colony of Island Iffish. Curious, she left her Zaku II for a minute and take a peak inside of colony. When open the door shaped hatch, air had pushed fto her face and then she starts to breath in toxins bust quickly put on her helmet. She was horrified what she saw, a group of birds lay down on ground dead with few bodies of humans layed on ground dead. On back board of an Musai-Class vessel, she punched her superior's face, knocking him down and then she took out holster and threaten to execute him with a headshot but her squadmates quickly subdue her. Asakura didn't press charges on her, thinking that "it was just a phase that young aged adults have". 5 months later her lover Coriolanus Snow was killed by ramming his Gattle into bridge of Wakkain's Magellan Flagship. During the final days of the war, she was captured by Earth Federation Forces. She was put on trial for war crimes including her involvement of Operation British, was found guilty and was sentenced to life imprisonment.

GIHREN'S GREED TIMELINE: Char Aznable had dropped the charade and revealing himself as Casval Zum Deikun. Antonia Marcus Julii ultimately joined Casval's Neo Zeon. She killed Coriolanus Snow because he remained loyal to Zabi Zeon. Zeon under the Zabis' ideology was focused on achieving independence from Earth and establishing a new type of humanity. But Casval's Neo Zeon however, advocated for a radical cleansing of Earth and forcing humanity into space colonies to evolve into Newtypes. Following the pyrrhic victory for Casval's Neo Zeon, she's at the site where Island Iffish had crashed and committed suicide by bullet on head.

GQUUUUUUX TIMELINE: After the war, she returned to Hatte as War Hero and married to Coriolanus who was also from Side 2. Soon later, her husband becomes President and assert emergency powers to become President for life and reorganized Hatte into Zanscare Republic. In U.C.0086, her Zanscare Fleet had joined forces with Challia Bull's Sodon Fleet in an rebellion against the Zabis and eventually finish off Earth Federation once and for all. In U.C.0093, she finally had the courage to visit the site where her home colony has crashed and tossed her 'Operation British Campaign Shield' medal into the sea and moved on with a peaceful life at Zanscare Republic.

Overall I really liked the film, and I can't wait to see more of this alternate world! I loved the action and thought it was very well choreographed. The movie has tons of little moments that fans of the series will love, especially relating to the original show/movies. I really liked the new characters we met and I can't wait to see more of them. I liked seeing how the setting has changed going from the past of 0079 to 0085. The redesigns are really interesting and are fun to see just how different they can be interpreted despite being drastically different from the old blocky designs we know and love.

I thought this was a very fun and interesting take on an alternative path of history for the Universal Century. Seeing Char Aznable as the pilot of the RX-78 02 was really cool. I really liked seeing him go up against the RX-78 01, easily my favorite battle. As the movie went on I definitely got used to the redesigns and really took a liking to some of them, most notably would be the Musai-Class redesign. Seeing Sayla become the pilot of the Gundam for the federation was really cool and I hope more is touched on who survived the one year war as far as the original White Base crew is concerned. Seeing the White Base captain get killed has me suspicious of whether Bright made it out alive or not.

I really liked seeing some classic characters return. Kycillia was one of my favorite villains from the original and I'm glad we get an alternate reality where she gets to lead Zeon. I also really liked seeing Challia Bull become a main character, he quickly grew on me and become one of my favorite returns. One noticeable difference in this timeline was that Lalah Sune was not mentioned once. I don't know if that means she will eventually come up or not but I'm really curious about what has happened to her.

After the One Year War we move on to 0085 where we meet our new protagonist Machu, the GQuuuux (pronounced G-Kwucks),and the other supporting cast members. I really liked meeting the new characters. I thought that they had fun personalities and can't wait to see more of their characters. I feel like we didn't get too much of their characters in the movie but this will probably be expanded upon in the show. Shuji was definitely the most mysterious. Especially since he has what may or may not be Char's RX-78 from before he disappeared. Also I really liked Shuji's little robot Conch :> He is adorable and I want his plushie.

Of the Mobile suits we saw I think my favorite was the Riot/MP type Zakus, and I really enjoyed their battle with the Gquuuux. My favorite battle was for sure the two Gundams dueling it out in the One Year War. The soundtrack was super good. I really enjoyed hearing the newer versions of the 0079 soundtrack. Overall it was a fun experience to see a new Gundam property on theatres and look forward to what the rest of this new series brings

If you flip a Musai-class upside-down it looks kind of like a Star Trek ship.

The Musai, Chivvay/Chibe, and Gwazine all mount their heaviest mega particle cannons on the dorsal side of the ship, and the Chivvay and Gwazine are drawn without any sign their turreted guns can elevate more than about 20-30 degrees from the horizontal. The Musai's turrets are drawn in a way that suggests its turrets can elevate much closer to the vertical, at least.

The Zanzibar has four guns embedded within the hull and a twin turret on its back that the wiki claims can't elevate. The "Zanzibar II" does, at least, have a main armament that can credibly cover most of the space around it, but at the cost of losing the efficient re-entry the class was designed for.

The Dolos mounts its guns in what are effectively casemates, and they can only fire to port, starboard, and directly aft, though it is one of the few pure carrier spaceships seen in UC Gundam.

(MS IGLOO has redesigned versions of all of these, which give the Chibe/Chivvay a turret on its underside and butcher the Gwazine horribly, and Thunderbolt and other manga have produced altered Musais with underbody guns.)

All of these warships, except maybe the Zanzibar, are designed as if they were fighting on the ocean as naval vessels.

To contrast, the Magellan, using the 1979 lineart, has two turrets on top, two on each side, and one below. The ventral and dorsal turrets don't look able to elevate on that version (though the most recent model kit gives them full elevation), so the Magellan can fire five turrets fore, two turrets aft, six turrets to port or to starboard, four turrets up, and four turrets down. (The model kit version could fire six turrets up and five turrets down.)

The Salamis's turrets are clearly designed to elevate on the 1979 lineart, so it can fire three guns fore or aft, four port or starboard, six up, and four down. The White Base, sadly, is saddled with a terrible armament layout that can fire two turrets to either side and behind, three forward, and none above or below. Then again, the AA gun mountings are open-topped and the ship had to have its whole main battery replaced at Jaburo.

I think if I had to guess, the answer here is that the straight lines of Federation spaceships make putting guns in useful places significantly easier than the quasi-organic curves of Zeon spaceships, and White Base's unusual equine shape also makes putting her guns in useful places a bit tricky, though the Albion from Stardust Memory does a bit better.

Analyzing the space warships of Universal Century Gundam and one funny thing I'm discovering is that the Earth Federation thinks more 3D than Zeon does when it comes to warship design.
