Bringing home the turf. by National Library of Ireland on The Commons Via Flickr: What appears picturesque today was a reality not that long ago for many people in remote areas of Ireland. Neddy the donkey was the chief source of power for transport. The creels on the back of the donkey would indicate terrain that was too rough for a cart or that the family were to poor to afford the cart. Times change?
