S A M P L E S I've taken on two new commissions this week which I just love to create. It's exciting to make a piece of work for a client that you know will be really personal and meaningful to them. It's also exciting as I get to look through all my sample colours to find the perfect match for the piece I've been asked to make. I feel like a kid in a sweet shop, so many delicious colours to choose from! Sometimes with a commission I will make a new and specific colour for it, using earth from the area I'm painting to give it that added personal touch. This is an extremely rare 1871 nautical chart or maritime map of norther part of the Baltic Sea in the vicinity of Stockholm, Sweden. The map cover from Gotland to the Åland Islands, and from the Swedish coastline to Riga, Latvia. Stockholm appears prominently just left of center. This chart is admirable for its profile illustration of the region's many lighthouses. There are inset detail harbor maps of Norrköping (Sweden), entrances to Stockholm (Sweden), Daugavgrīva (Latvia), Riga (Latvia), and Riga Bay. The chart was published by the Royal Danish Chart Archive, first in 1869, and again here, with updates to 1871. W O R K. F O R. S A L E These are two pieces I made last year using antique nautical charts and handmade inks from berries and copper oxide. They are carefully painted in detail using the map’s original beauty to inspire my marks made. I have made some discounts as I'd really love to know these are being admired in someone's home instead of sitting wrapped up in my studio. Due to all my exhibitions being postponed I thought it'd be a nice way to share them. I am posting works for sale that are £200 each (not including shipping). Every time I reach £1000 of sales I will pledge to buy another artists work.
